Watch out for those gays, they are coming to an adoption center near you.

“I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no, I don’t believe in gay adoption....”

Hmmm, that's pretty straight talk there Mr.Morton. Seems like you are just another phony ass republican who likes to moralize from your high horse, and to stick your neck into other people's private lives. You don't believe in "gay adoptions"? Well who the fuck died and made you the moral authority of such things? I don't like to see mofos in short sleeve dress shirts, but that ain't none of my damn business if someone chooses to wear them. "Both parents"? I thought gay couples were just that, a couple.

But I see your peeps trying to wiggle out of this one, they must have realized how totally ignorant your little statement sounds to the rest of us with a brain. See, this is what happens when you have been a republican all your life. You think things like gay couples living together, leading totally normal lives, adopting children; and being some of the most productive citizens in our society, is the stuff of movie scripts. It's not. It's the kind of shit that is happening all over the country and in places like Philly every day. I know some of those people, and they are doing a hell of a job raising their children. And you want to be president? Damn! What's scary is that in my heart, I believe that you are going to win, no matter how fucked up and insane you are. Because at the end of the day; A-merry-cans will not let that narrow Negro with the funny name be their leader. So it looks like you are it. But the thought of four more years with a leader who thinks the way you do, is terrifying.

"John McCain could have been clearer in the interview in stating that his position on gay adoption is that it is a state issue, just as he made it clear in the interview that marriage is a state issue,’’ Tucker Bounds, a campaign spokesman, said in a statement.“He was not endorsing any federal legislation.’’

First of all motherfucker, your name is "Tucker", so I am not going to believe a damn thing you say. It's that simple. Like we don't know that Mr. Straight talk said exactly what he means. But nice try, I think most people know where your boy stands, and I actually think it will help him with a large segment of the A-merry-can population, so relax. The folks over at FOX will make a hero out of him for this too. See, that's the difference between him and Obama, he tells the truth, and he wants to bring back good old American family values. Oh, you mean the one with the high divorce rate, and the fucked up dysfunctional families? Those family values?

But not to worry Mr. Morton, those blind ideologues will stand behind you no matter what. Ideology over principal, that's the A-merry-can way.

Patrick Sammon, the president of Log Cabin Republicans, a gay Republican group, said in a statement: “We are pleased that Senator McCain clarified the remarks and we thank the Senator for once again re-iterating his belief that issues concerning marriage and family laws should be left up to the states — not the federal government.”

Gee, I guess every group has their version of a house Negro.

Okay - we now know John McCain's pretty much against allowing gays and lesbians to adopt. Has anyone conifirmed his position on allowing prescription drug addicts who steal money and medication from terminally ill patients to adopt?

    Just askin'...

First of all, Obama wins. Conservatives just aren't inspired by McCain. I think gay adoption can be addressed at the state level same as McCain. I don't know any gay couples that have kids but I do know some that have dogs that are loved. The same child adoption laws and screening processes should apply to all. Some people are born gay and some choose to be. The deserve the chance to be parents also.

  3. Log Cabin Rethugs are indeed House Negros.... hell, they all must be real limber for all the bend over backwards and twisted logic they have to employ to think like they do.
It is almost sad to see them wanna be a part of the party sooo bad and see so many of those homophobic neo cons treat them like shit over and over....
Actually, its not too sad, mostly they just piss me off. How they can make excuses for these assholes is really beyond the pail.
I just wish they would shut up and go away... they do NOTHING for the gay community except move us backwards.

  4. Field I am just saying, somebody close to McCain was using drugs while raising small children, one of whom she adopted while she was an addict.

In most states, family services will remove children from a woman who is known to be an active drug addict, and she would certainly not be allowed to adopt a child while addicted.

I think McCain needs to watch more closely some of the things he say especially if the shoe fit his foot.

"Have to say, every time civil rights are left up to the states, well, someone doesn't get their civil rights." - coyotefe"

    I can agree with that.

My fourth grade daughter has been in the same class with a boy who has two mommies since the first day of kindergarten. Our state passed one of those hateful 'defense of marriage acts' during the last election. To my everlasting pride, every child in that class was incensed. Even as 8 year olds they understood how unfair it is to discriminate against families like their friend's.

I have had a chance to observe their parenting for these last several years and they are both doing a fine job raising the three kids. One works outside the home and the other has a home based business so she can be at home for the kids. They are very traditional, right down to their membership in a synagogue, weekly Hebrew school for the kids, and bar mitzvahs.

John McCain is talking out of his hat and he needs to be called on it. Didn't he accuse Obama of making up his mind without having the facts?

And as for his prospects of winning in November...a snowball has a better chance of survivng in hell than John McCain has of winning. Especially after today. Because no matter how he squirms and tries to wriggle out of it, he is going to have to go along with Obama's timetable for getting out of Iraq or admit that Iraqi sovereignty is a charade. It is plain.

Marc Ambinder talked to one of McCain's advisors who gets it. His take on the situation...'we're f*@#ed!'

Field, with the exception of gays being allowed to adopt gay teens, you and your agreeing readers are wrong as can be on this one. The child's best interest should come first.

Boys need fathers, and ones without them can barely stand watching a parade of men wander in and out of their single mother's life and bedroom. You know I ain't lying.

The last thing any pre-teen or teen boy wants is to see his father sticking his tongue down another man's throat. Most of these gay men adopting will be white, and guess what the county public agencies will give them? A black child, who will not only have the burden of racial identity to struggle with but dealing with a daddy's gay lifestyle.

Nearly all of the straight male adults I've known who had a father come out of the closet suffered from finding out. The women with lesbian mothers generally didn't take it so hard, but one did.

I don't know if you have sons, but if they're 12 or older, make up a lie that you're coming out of the closet and then run that scenario by him. Watch him go eewwwl.

I see gays as an asset to businesses and a state that does that would be hurting only themselves.

Whether or not we're an asset to capitalism, we're actual real beings who merit treatment as such.

Whatever else we do or don't serve.

We should not have to be serving capitalism to be supported, to not be hurt, to not be demonized.

I know some of us play games about why we should be accepted other than that we are actual real beings.

It's a form of internalized oppression, and also a form of trying to assert power -- the second part means it is centered on well-off gay people.

But those of us who aren't good for business because we don't have the kind of money others do are just as real and human as those who do.

What hetero people do and say about us speaks to their basic empathy and humanity ... or lack thereof.

  18. John McCain is the posterboy for Republican family values.

While married to his first wife Carol, who gave him several children, he embarked on a whirlwind affair with the much younger and very wealthy beer heiress, Cindy Hensley.

The pair eventually married but in John McCain's official autobiography, the dates were changed and the couple began to say that John and Carol McCain were separated and on their way to divorce BEFORE they started hooking up. This of course is a bald faced lie.

For it was the relationship between John McCain and the much younger, wealthy Carol Hensley, that led to John and his first wife divorcing.

In the 1990's it became public that Cindy McCain was addicted to painkillers and in fact, she stole drugs to get her fix.

But this is the radical, rightwing couple who had the audacity to they they oppose gay adoption?

What a pair of fucking, hypocritical lowlife.

Your homophobia is showing. Gay parents will teach their sons and daughters the same thing as hetros, hopefully, how to be loving, caring, human beings. Gay couples who adopt, and FYI.... there are many couples of all colors and stripes who adopt, including mixed race couples..... want for their children what all parents who want children want.
I have 2 sons, both straight, and both in loving, committed relationships..... my youngest son LOVED the Gay Pride Parades. He thought the radical fairies were fun because they dressed in tutus and sang and threw pixie dust. But most importantly, he saw people who had families just like his and that mattered.
Now the planet has 2 more straight human beings that believe in justice for all and will challenge your narrow assed mind if you try to limit the rights of others.

I think what kids need is a kind and loving example from their parents. It's the hostility and the tense silences at the dinner table, if not the out and out violence, that messes them up. IMO it doesn't have much to do with the sexual orientation of the parents. You can't compare a hostile heterosexual household with a loving tranquil gay one.

This is a serendipitous post for sure.

My sister, and her partner are in the process of adopting a 13 year old boy.

The paranoia with the Wingnuts is, "teh Gays" might "Convert" their kids.

Who, aside from people who are already Gay, could be "Converted?"

"Hey man, want to see my dick?"

"Nah, I have my own, but thanks."

Studies clearly show that kids who grow up with gay parents are no more likely to be gay than kids who grow up in homes with a mom, and a dad.

As for the "Righteousness, and Morality of Gay Adoption?"

    Please.

There are thousands, and thousands of children dying to be adopted in this country (The boy my sister is adopting is 13, he's been waiting for 8 years).

Where are all the "Righteous, and Moral" when it comes to adoption?

Why don't the "Righteous" have Adoption Drives?

Many gay couples are willing to do what the lazy ass, sit on my soapbox, and lecture the gas station crowd Assholes are not, They Adopt. They provide these children with a home, a family, love, food, shelter, a LIFE, while shitheel Wingnuts wander around teh Innertubes lecturing people about "Morality."

In case people were unaware, anyone with "Thor, Odin" or any other name or phrase from Norse Mythology is usually one of those, "The real crime in America is Reverse Racism, and discrimination against white people" Wankers.

    Hey FN:
Try not to be so pessimistic, I am not sure if McCain will win because as an earlier commenter pointed out, he does not inspire the confidence of conservatives. The race will be a tight one, imho.

Secondly, I believe that decent people who care about children should not be opposed to gay fostering or adoption. My niece spent two and a half years with my sister in law and her wife of almost thirty years. During this time, my niece excelled in school, got physically fit and strove towards reaching her potential.

To be honest, it seems as though she was better off with them than she was with her (single) mother- at least for a time.

I really get upset when assholes like that try to legislate morality and we can see how moral he has been with leaving his first wife while she had cancer and all...

I strongly believe that if people care about children, they won't mind the sexual orientation of those who are willing to raise the kids. After all sexual orientation is but a wee part of our overall existence and in the scheme of things, we need folk to care about children who have been left behind.

After seven years of marriage (this year) my husband and I considered adoption and fostering, but we had our son (major surprise) instead. At the moment one is all I can handle! But I don't begrudge gays who are willing to adopt or foster; I commend them.

The biggest problem with the religious right is that it vilifies gays no matter what. But how many of those people are putting their money where their mouth is and adopting or fostering such children, NOT ENOUGH to be sure.

So I ramble, but this topic hit close to home.

What were they doing in Sodom and Gomorrah to be destroyed. the romans and greeks perverted the holy scriptures by adding and subtracting books but I will not let that confuse me. I have read al the scriptures front to back, not picking out a sentence or two, good luck convincing the Creator on judgment day that your version of His laws are better and his creation of a man and a women as the basis for the family no longer need to be followed, sounds like the Devil (CH) and the two hundred angels kicked out of the bosom of the Creator. the devil (CH) believed he knew more than the Crator so I guess Man does two. Adam did not listen when he was told not to teach the Devil knowledge of good and bad and Adam was cast down to Earth as a punishment also because he did not want to listen, but all of you are smarter than the Devil (CH) and Adam.they named a whole act after the city of Sodom. good luck with that

They are no better or worse than straight parents from what I've seen. I figure anyone who goes to the trouble to adopt a child or go through artifical insemination to have their own kid really wants that child as opposed to some sperm donor who drops kids all over creation, brags about it, and does nothing for their kids. If I may explain my understanding of why the house Negro loved the master’s house more than the master did. This is because if hard times befell the master and the master’s house was destroyed, the master would become a non-master but the house Negro would become something worse, the house Negro would become a field Negro.

My understanding is that the issues the field Negro has with the house Negro isn’t because the house Negro has the house Negro lifestyle, but rather because the house Negro is supporting the institutions that cause the field Negro to have the field Negro lifestyle.

  52. I belong to a group called Rainbow Families. Every year there is a conference about being the best parents we can be. To be in a room with 700-800 people of all ages and backgrounds (and who are gay, bi, straight) who are there because they love their children and want to do their very best job at being parents and having strong families is one of the most inspiring and energizing things that happens to me every year. Every family has a different story: some folks were married and came out and have kids from their marriage (men and women). Others are in couples and have adopted or conceived with a friend. Some are relatives who have taken in kids whose parents have died or are in jail or are on drugs.
All of these families want to protect their children (gay or straight) from bullying, enjoy the same responsibilities and privileges as hetero families who can marry, and be themselves in peace. When people try to prevent you from being a parent, and it is something you choose in spite of obstacles, you take it really seriously and try to do your best. I wish I could say the same of my (straight) father, who was a dud as a dad.

  53. momo,

If advocates of gay "adoption" premised their argument with the understanding that the "adoption" was an adoption of less than ideal circumstances and therefore of last resort then the acceptance of such notion might be more accepted.

As it stands the argument is premised on the idea that gay "adoption" is NO DIFFERENT than traditional adoption. This is a false notion unless one believes that fathers and mothers are NO DIFFERENT and/or perfectly EQUAL.

So the homosexual advocacy of gay "adoption" premised on equality (equality of homo/hetero, equality of male/female, equality of mother/father, equality of right to adopt) actually undermines the value of mothers AND fathers by claiming no difference and simply ASSERTS the equality of things self-evidently different.

This in turn undermines their own argument for adoption as they merely represent redundant meaningless "mother/father" combinations that negate the importance of mothers (presumably two lesbians) or fathers (presumably two homosexuals) by claiming their equality or lack of inherent difference.

What you must say is in these gay "adoption" situations the notion of mothers and fathers must be dismissed and replaced by what?

Ararat (spelling?) but the argument is we can pick and chose which laws our Creator laid done for us to follow? and because I have true fear of my Creator I'm a homophobe? So as a child I can disrespect my parents because I know better? Where does it say in the Bible I can do pick and chose what examples to follow, if you are skeptical about the origins of the Bible research it like I did, stop following massa's version or just read the whole stories from beginnning to end instead of taking one line out of context.BTW Mary was 14 when she had Jesus (not his name there are not J's in his language)for all you who love to judge teenage pregnancy.BTW I use anon cuz that's the only way I can comment, if I put a screen name so what? I will never meet you it's still anonymous, we're on the Internet..someone please explain to me what Sodom...can't get around the fact that it was a real city no longer existing I wonder why? good luck explaining on Judgment Day why you don't need to follow the Father's laws but man's, the Father creating the whole universe, water, animals, you're right Man is smarter look at all the things we created no need to follow, we are in control of shaping our faces, creating new beings what did Man create the dog, the Sun, water... oh the list goes on. Sounds just like the Devil (CH) he felt no need to follow the Creator's laws either and is stuck on Earth as a punishment... oh now I understand you are of his people that's why you think you're smarter than the Creator, oh excuse me for my stupidity
