My man Tafaraji sent me this pic of his O ness with some of the supremes today, and I was just dying to know what everyone was thinking while they were standing there. So, as a result, I did what any red blooded Jamaican would do, I called an Obeah woman to tell me, and she did.
President elect Barack Obama~~~~~~~When are some of you all going to start retiring? I need some appointments~~~
Chief Justice John Roberts~~~~~~Thank god for George Bush. You can't touch me Mr. "Chosen One"~~~~
Justice John Paul Stevens~~~~~Where the hell is Alito?~~~~~~~
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg~~~~~~He is even cuter in person: I can't look, he might see me blushing~~~~~~~~~~~
Justice Clarence Thomas~~~~~~I hope this Nigger doesn't think he is the HNIC now~~~~~~
Justice David Souter~~~~~~Biden is such a phony~~~~~~
VP elect Joe Biden~~~~~Roberts has some pretty nice hair. I wonder if he has plugs like me?~~~~
Obeah women are smart.
Please ask your Obeah woman to cook up something special for Alito and Roberts. We need those fools out of the way. "HNIC"--brilliant!!!
ReplyDelete...So after Googling Obeah (what? don't judge!) I thought...oh ok.
ReplyDeleteFunny post. Very creative!
I think Stevens and Ginsberg are probably thinking more like..
ReplyDeleteTHANK GOD! I Can finally retire!! Those two have been holding it down for along time now. Thank the Universe they have stayed healthy through the last 8 years. They both deserve our thanks and blessing if they are ready to step down.
OK, here's my take: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg "Can I die now?"
ReplyDeleteszpork
Clarence is probably thinking "This negro made it to the Oval Office and didn't have to marry a white woman."
ReplyDeleteClarence is probably thinking "This negro made it to the Oval Office and didn't have to marry a white woman."
ReplyDeleteI choked up on soft drink over this one from...Soapbubble
It's nice to know and see a Black man sitting on top the world with a Black woman. Now, if we can only convince some of these sports figures that you can marry a Black woman and still be top dog.
Field:
ReplyDeleteOff Topic, but they arrested Alexis glover's mom and charged her with child neglect:

12:15, Had Obama married a white woman he wouldn't have made it to a ballot, much less the WH. But, hey, I understand your point, and your post is funny as hell and very, very true!
ReplyDeleteHey Field Negro,
ReplyDeleteYou are just soooo wrong for that Clarence Thomas quip!! *LOL*
I am on the floor right about now!!
*LOL*
*LOL*
Just. Stop.
Hilarious, and all true. I think we some Ginsburg and JPS retire in short order here. Maybe even this spring while Obama is still riding high and the Senate dare not fuck with. BTW, Holder was killing it today. He was like Jordan @ MSG in 94, just on fire. Specter and company couldn't touch the Bajan boy from Queens.
ReplyDeleteyou slayed me with this one field... you brought an obeah woman into this!!! too funny... too funny...
ReplyDeletehilarious!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know Clarence is salty.
I agree with Jody. Stevens and Ginsberg are probably relieved. Could you imagine if McCain and Palin were in the room?
Of course Clarence would probably try to step to Sarah.
Yeah nyc, Clarence will show Sara how to spruce up a soda can (puking)
ReplyDeleteSharp move on Obama's part. So smart, I hope it's not even a "move". He campaigned on "change"...I hope this is part of it.
ReplyDeleteField, yu talking to Miss Cleo again?
ReplyDeleteMe did think you done wid dat madness!
Geoffrey, Ms. Cleo isn't even from Jamaica. LOL! Talk about a griffter, she was it.
ReplyDelete"Clarence is probably thinking "This negro made it to the Oval Office and didn't have to marry a white woman."
Now see....
JP I think Holder just might get in after all. Sean Insanity and co. must be losing their minds.
"Had Obama married a white woman he wouldn't have made it to a ballot, much less the WH."
Anon. I sure hope Harold Ford doesn't read this blog.
Anon. 12:34AM, thanks for that update.
ReplyDeleteYou KNOW Clarence Thomas is chalking up Obama's ability to marry a Black woman to Obama's "light-skinnededness," that effing unqualified, self-loathing, embarrassment of a HATER!
ReplyDeleteClarence "Working for Whitey" Thomas looks ancient.
ReplyDeleteHow did this brother get so old doing so little?
Antonin Scalia is 72.
Unfortunately, he will probably stay on another decade.
Hopefully, illness will force some of these neocons in black robes to leave, paving the way for Obama to make a few appointments.
...It's nice to know and see a Black man sitting on top the world with a Black woman. Now, if we can only convince some of these sports figures that you can marry a Black woman and still be top dog.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the black community want sport figures to raise its kids (to which Sir Charles perfectly said, raise your own kids). Now, it wants to pick sports figures' wifes.
They can't win for losing.
"Had Obama married a white woman he wouldn't have made it to a ballot, much less the WH."
ReplyDeleteThat's what Harold Ford is about to find out.
His career in elective politics is over.
Damn Field, you actually know an actual Obeah woman?
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother was best friends with one before she migrated to the good ole US of A.
I consulted my Grams and she told me that ole Clarence was saying...
'You are one Lucky Nigger.. Me and my asociate Alan Keyes almost had your mixed black ass. Don't Sleep Mr. First Afircan American President. Don't Sleep!!! I know where you was born, and it wasn't no damn Hawaii!!'
Justice Clarence Thomas~~~~~~I hope this Nigger doesn't think he is the HNIC now~~~~~~
ReplyDeleteMy reply:
It is striking, just how far away from Obama Thomas is. He is practically against the wall and hiding:
"Yes, yes, I know we skinfolk, but I don't want anyone to think that me and him is kinfolk"!
While I don't use that term you used for Thomas's quip, too bougie for it, I have to admit, it was spot on funny!
ReplyDeleteThat's because they were serving as waiters at the conservative dinner.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Their absence is illustrates the esteem they hold with the "mainstream" GOP commentators.
Mouthpieces and water carriers
Oops. Posted to the wrong thread. This was meant for the one concerning O's dinner with Will and Company. :-)
ReplyDeleteThomas is such a joke.
ReplyDeleteHe opposes AA when he is the poster boy for it.
He fills a quota of ONE.
As long as he's upright, another black won't even be considered for the SCOTUS no matter how qualified.
Not even by Obama.
Now you gotta go to Haiti...
ReplyDeleteAnd get some Voodoo pins stuck in those Alito, Scalia, Roberts, and Thomas dolls!
O-Man was just collectin' a snip of hair from each at the meetin'!
Paul Krugman has a great op-ed piece in the Times today about Obama's call to look forward and not backward. It's a must read for the Kool Aid drinkers.
ReplyDeleteUptownsteve,
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness to Uncle Clarence (though I don't know why I'm trying to be), he actually does support affirmative action--violently. That's his one, real break with Scalia. On any other subject, though, gloves off.
Not even by Obama.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think that Obama would not select a qualified jurist for the SCOTUS if he or she is African American?
It certainly would be a pleasant surprise if you are mistaken. :-)
LOL! Look at Thomas in the back (as far away from Obama as possible I might add) with that fake grin on his face. The man is most definitely thinking what your Obeah woman said he was thinking. Its hard to believe that he would be thinking anything else.
ReplyDelete"In all fairness to Uncle Clarence (though I don't know why I'm trying to be), he actually does support affirmative action--violently"
ReplyDeleteJust like his ideological cousins Shelby Steele and Ward Connerly, he was fully supportive of AA when he personally benefited, but he wants to deny it to others.
Funny Field... lol

He wasn't getting my vote. A dog was getting it first. (I mighta had to pay dat same Obeah woman ah visit mayself to geh rid ah he fast fast).
So the secret is out, I don't ever ever ever support black men who date or marry white or obviously non-black looking women. Period. I make no apology for stating that, and I don't ever care to be anonymous. And I don't speak for all black women either.
In fact, if Field ever wanted me to stop reading/visiting his blog, all he had to say was that Mrs. Field was a white woman.
oh, I'm just kidding... maybe
Ginsberg seems to be saying "Let's bow and take a moment of silence for the Chosen One who is among us. We are not worthy.
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDelete"Why do you think that Obama would not select a qualified jurist for the SCOTUS if he or she is African American?"
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it but I believe that caution and political restraints will prevent him from nominating a black to the court if an opening occurs during his first term.
There is a reason why Clinton had more blacks in his Cabinet than Obama has picked.
Too many of us and the righties will yelling "Takeover".
Field,
ReplyDeleteThey were probably asking, "How did you get in here?" "We didn't order out!"
Seriously, I hope Obama can make some appointments so that the Supreme Court can become at least centrist in its interpretations of the Constitution.
Great post
Great "thousand words", Field.
ReplyDeleteI had an email exchange with an acquaintance that went like this. You’ll see he forced my hand on this one.
Me: Here are great pictures of the PEOTUS at the Supreme Court; there is even a picture of your favorite uncle in the background.
Acquaintance: If you are referring to the painting of William Howard Taft, He was not my Uncle! He was my great uncle.
Me: LOL, I was referring to your "Uncle Thomas" but I loved the spontaneity.
Acquaintance: ;-)
FN,
ReplyDeleteyou are too funny for words.
But, I agree with those about Stevens and Ginsburg. They sighed with relief, especially Stevens who has been hanging in there.
LOL at whoever commented that Obama didn't want to be close to Uncle Clarence - ---would you?
BTW, here is the link to entire set.
ReplyDeleteThey are remarkable!
http://community.livejournal.com/obama_daily/172181.html
YOU mean to tell me, that after what happened to HAROLD FORD? he married a WHITE WOMAN, that's it, for him, what is his problem? and he has a nerve, I am shocked! and as far as CLARENCE THOMAS is concerned, he should try and hide out, he is a total disgrace!!! I don't see how he could show his face, or be in the same room with BARACK, he tried to smear BARACK, and I hope BARACK remember's that, when he become's the PRESIDENT!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are you people so concerned with whom a black man marries?
ReplyDeleteMemo: It's none of your business!
You people??
ReplyDeleteYou people???
Hmmmm....Field Negro...do you smell something in here??
*LOL*
I smell that starch from a white pointy hood... someone must be in here...
Oh... I see... never mind...
Is there something grammatically incorrect about the phrase, "you people"?
ReplyDeleteLet me shift gears to the third person and rephrase:
Why don't people mind their business with respect to who a person dates or marry.
Happy?
"It's nice to know and see a Black man sitting on top the world with a Black woman. Now, if we can only convince some of these sports figures that you can marry a Black woman and still be top dog."
ReplyDeleteYou might want to talk to Venus and Serena while you're at it.
Anon 8:52 showed his true colours with his pointy hood. Who the heck is "you people"?
ReplyDeleteClarence REEKS of self-hate. He was first in line for Affirmative Action and now he want to kick the ladder for everyone else. Him and Ward Connerly are A-Class House Negroes.
Justice Ginsberg can finally retire now that there is a Dem in the White House.
As time passes, Affirmative Action needs to be tweaked.
ReplyDeleteI am all for abolishing Affirmative Action in places where there are clear standards (e.g., colleges, universities, professional schools).
If a person doesn't meet the standard, why would he/she ever want to gain admission? A person who wants to gain admission to without meeting the standard, reveals a serious character flaw.
I am for Affirmative Action in places where the standards are subjective (e.g., jobs and promotions).
I am for the outright abolishing of all Affirmative Action in the year 2364 (400 years after the passing of the Civil Rights Act).
I think that is fair.
I think that's fair.
The Black Snob posted an article about Harold Ford Jr and his marriage not too long ago and she pointed out how he couldn't get into black churches fast enough when the heat was on. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11:40:
ReplyDelete"Now you gotta go to Haiti...
And get some Voodoo pins stuck in those Alito, Scalia, Roberts, and Thomas dolls!"
I'll even refer him to my cousin over in Haiti who is the Voodoo Priest if you think that will do the trick, and tell him to put a double or triple wammie on them.(smile)
Assuming President-elect Obama gets to appoint two Supreme Court justices, I think he will most likely appoint a Latino and an Asian-American. Probably both women if RBG retires. I can't see him simply nominating another white guy to the court; but at the end of the day, Obama seems to go for the most qualified...so who knows what we might get. I think we can all be confident that whoever he appoints will be more qualified than CT, SA, and JR.
ReplyDeleteHey Filled Negro:
ReplyDeleteDo you know if Clarence Thomas asked Obama to see a wallet sized version of his birth certificate?
Please ask your Obeah woman to cook up something special for Alito and Roberts. We need those fools out of the way.
ReplyDeleteboukman70:
If we were to list the top 5 problems that Black America faces - please detail the benefit of Moving Alito and Roberts out of the way would do to address them?
Some people never learn. They look past the fact that Black people living in Baltimore, Newark, Milwaukee and Chicago and DC of course have NOT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN representative nor a Republican Majority Legislative body representing them and yet their problems PERSIST.
Now they want a Supreme Court that is 9-0 Progressive Fundamentalist.
Filled Negro - this is the "chasing" milieu that I am speaking of. Instead of MANAGING the people that you have ALREADY put into power, forcing them to DELIVER, you Progressive-Fundamentalist are alway son the CHASE to clear the road of conservatives with the HOPES that this will be enough to change your fortunes.
Tell me this Filled Negro - if you all hate conservatives so much - why do the progressives vacate a progressive city like Philly and go live in the conservative suburbs - thereby flipping them to the Democrats?
There were no Black folks living in Limrick PA when I was in Philly Filled Negro. Are you all getting that desperate?

I'm sick and tired of some white people thinking they know what affirmative action is about.
Affirmative Action is NOT about admitting people with low standards.
It's about accepting people who meet qualifications and above BUT who would be otherwise denied due to a superficial factor.
If you really wanted to end AA then stop wealthy kids from entering TOP schools because their parents were alumni.
The PRIMARY beneficiaries of AA are white women, not black people.
Contrary to popular belief, Affirmative action is not always a race thing.
Constructive Feedback:
ReplyDeleteWhen I made that comment I was thinking of America's welfare in general--not African-America specifically. However, when you look at so many of the issues that the Supreme Court has addressed, is currently addressing, or may address, I don't see how many of these can't be on Negrodom's Top 5, if you will. Expanded police powers, the death penalty, affirmative action, environmental policy, school vouchers, abortion rights highly affect the black community. However, the Supreme Court's decisions on these matters are incredibly important--no matter one's colors.
@Kat,
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to college and university admissions, I am all for blind admissions.
I didn't address legacy admissions (wealthy kids), because that wasn't the issue discussed.
You mentioned that AA isn't about admitting students with low standards. **Tell us something we DON'T KNOw** That's not its intent. Unfortunately, that what it has come to in SOME INSTANCES.
For example, after California's passing of Proposition 209, minority enrollment at Berkeley and UCLA plummeted. Why is that? It's because previously, those two schools were admitting a lot of minority students who didn't meet the academic standards.
I keep hearing that White women are the biggest beneficiary of Affirmative Action. That is plausible. However, I haven't seen anyone who has cited this show any proof to support it (Wikipedia is not a reputable source).
By the way, I am not not white. I am black. I just don't subscribe to group think (in other words, I think for myself).
A white guy tried to tell me about how unfair affirmative action is and I asked him to please name one company I could get a job at simply because I'm a black female. I also asked him where I could find a scholarship that awarded me for being a black woman and he couldn't name a damn thing. I tried to get a Pell grant and I was told I couldn't get chit. A lot of people are listening to conservative talk shows and just dittoing [sic] everything they hear without any FACTS to back them up. They bitch about affirmative action but the republicans only pass legislation to help rich folks and some folks can't see that. SMDH

ReplyDelete*********
Exactly!!
Kat:
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said, and I can confirm what you said because I used to work for Office of Civil Rights, when Affirmative Action was freshly started, in the department that enforced it. You're right they don't know what it was all about.
White folks did not want to hire qualified blacks or want them in their schools at all, and white women were the ones that benefitted from it more, because the way the rules and regulations were set up, they were still hiring what was considered by law a minority. Therefore, it wasn't too much could be done about it when they took that route.
I just wish they could have read some of the correspondence we got from white folks back then or what we had to deal with on a face to face basis to make sure that people complied with the rules and regulations of Affirmative Action.
BTW, some of the most ugly acting folks, believe it or not, were educated people working in the schools. You'd be surprised how ignorant some of our educators used to get. Folks on the outside looking in don't know what went on behind close doors, they just saw what was going on, on the surface. However, there were many heated discussions and I do mean boiling hot, name-calling, darn near physical, heated discussions going on behind close doors out of the public's eye. Yes, indeed, some of those folks would get very unprofessional with you.
To sabatoge Affirmative Action, white employers would tell a white job applicants that they knew didn't qualify, or they didn't want to hire, that the reason they couldn't hire them was because of Affirmative Action, and that they had to hire someone black because Uncle Sam was pressuring them. Instead of telling them the truth, that they didn't feel they were qualified or that they just didn't want to hire them for whatever reason. They did this in order to poison the well so to speak, in other words, killing two birds with one stone--not having to be forthright with the white job applicant, and work on tearing down Affirmative Action in the process.
We use to send people from our office out posing as prospective employees to catch them in their mess. Now, that was the fun part of the job. I could name a whole bunch of companies and schools that were and probably still are extremely racist. I can remember one man who owned a big company that I was tempted to slap upside down backwards quite a few times.
Some folks that post on here get upset and their feelings hurt when folks are what they consider a little too aggressive towards them in their responses or statements. I can tell them first hand, that this is Disney Land compared to what we had to deal with. Nevertheless, in the office I worked in which we had aggressive people that didn't take no mess, wasn't scared, and wasn't gone back down. If they thought that they were going to get us fired or reprimanded by complaining to our Director that was over our regional office, they were sadly mistaken.
I'm sure that the way that Office operates now is different and probably doesn't have go through and deal with what we did back then, because back during that time some of the Jim Crow residue still lingered and was slowly dying out.
BTW, I forgot to mention that most of the companies were government WELFARE recipients like they are today.

While you're at you might want to ask all the white yuppies, many of them conservatives, why they are moving back into the urban centers.
You're not suggesting that blacks should limit their housing choices to the inner city, are you?
