Why should we give that Negro our money? You know they like to just spend it.

I have to admit that like most A-murder-cans I don't like paying taxes, and as April 15th approaches I am reminded of just how much I dislike the entire process. I dislike it,but I understand that as a citizen I have an obligation to the country I live in to pay my fair share. (Which the last time I checked is a hell of a share, but who is complaining?)

I enjoy driving on the nice roads my tax dollars help to fund. I enjoy the security that my tax dollars help to provide for me. I enjoy the protections from poisons and other deadly products that could harm me. I enjoy the fact that veterans who serve my country can be taken care of. I like the fact that when I put my money in the bank it is insured. And I like the fact that most children who cannot afford it can get a free education. I could go on but you get the point: Taxes are painful for some of us, but they are necessary.

Which is why I don't understand this "Tea Party Protest" that the FAKE NEWS people and conservatives have been planning for a little over a month now. Yes folks, on tax day conservatives will be getting out their pitch forks and walking shoes, and if FAKE NEWS has their way they will be storming the White House. Ironically, the man who called for a "Tea Party" style revolt against the government and all their bailouts, is distancing himself from the very movement he seemed to have started. (Leave it to conservatives and FAKE NEWS to get an accidental idea and treat it like it's some kind of righteous cause.) But the clowns on the right are having none of it, the troops have been foaming at the mouth ever since his O ness took office and they need to vent.

I sense that history is repeating itself here. I mean back in the day the colonist didn't think it was fair to pay taxes to a government who they didn't believe represented them. They weren't being taxed by their government, they were being taxed by the British. These conservatives are no different, his O ness does not represent them, just look at the guy; he is the total opposite of everything they represent, so why pay taxes to his government? Funny, they didn't seem to mind paying their taxes to fund the two wars that the frat boy started. But hey, the frat boy didn't have a funny name and a.....well, tan.

So wingnut bloggers, reich wing talk radio and the FAKE NEWS people are organizing. They expect to have "Tax Day Tea Parties" in over 300 cities, and according to them the number is growing. Nothing like a little good old fashion revolution against the man to get that red state blood pumping.

I wish them luck, I really do. I hope they get a million people out there on April 15th to stick it to the man. I guess they will be flooding public parks and driving on public roads to get there. Not to mention all those public officials who will be out in force to protect them and make sure that everything goes as planned. I guess Rupert, Rush, Glen and Sean, are going to write checks to cover the costs of all that stuff. Oh wait, they can't do that, they are conservatives, they are supposed to keep their money. Whoops, looks like our tax dollars will be paying for that as well.

What a country.

They had one here in little rock and I didn't go. I'd alreay done 8 hours of volenteer work that day and I'd feel guilty protesting after receviing unemployment insurance. I think I'm with them in spirit though. The tarps and bailouts will result in high inflation with no real benefit that I can see at this point. GM is still under. AIG is still going under, or should anyway. Maybe I'm wrong about all this, I dunno. But inflation and high taxes will come to pay for this gamble. szpork

  6. Spork,
I would like to know, with rate of inflation increasing such that even if the debt becomes twice than what Obama inherited, would the tax debt even be noticed by the tax payer even notice. Why is the tax revolt now? As of September 30, 2008 the public debt was over 10 trillion dollars(that 10 million million or 10 followed by 12 zeroes) which had doubled from 2000-2008. Did conservatives learn to count when President Obama took office?

Hathor, obviously I can't speak for them, but I think it has to do with 'bang for your buck'. O-ness has spent 7 trillion in stimulus, tarp, and yearly budget. That price will go up no matter what happens at this point. Conservatives did complain about Bush's spending also, but if you don't read conservitive blogs, I can see how you might have missed that. It's curious that O-ness has spent so much that he can't pursue his passions: climate change and heath care. He's dug a nice hole for himself. szpork

  12. The extremist group of Republicans are hoping they can get some of those crazy people we have in America to do something stupid. They need to quit and sit their behind down and hush. The spotlight is shining on them bright and one thing about it, darkness cannot abide with light, because the light will show them up every single time, and it even shines on men's heart and let's you know their inner thoughts.

Those CEO's that are threatening some more layoffs call themselves fighting back on the sly. They don't like the idea of regulations and the possibility of them having to take a cut in pay. They need to be audited by I.R.S. because their books will tell the real story. Too many people are suffering and they don't need to be suffering behind a BS game called greed.

This is April and not even quite four months and President Obama has not even half of his staff in place and the Republicans are trying to blackmail the President. That's shameful but the extreme GOP folks want to wreck whatever he does any way they can.

They are not going to be satisfied until they start something that gets someone hurt and then they'll swear up and down they had nothing to do with it. However, that is not going to fly.

Nice...after 20 years of Reaganomic deficit spending/trickle-down horse shit, and a 10 plus trillion dollar deficit handed over to future generations caused by runaway neo-con spending, shameless corporate welfare, and huge tax breaks during periods of continuous imperial wars of expansion. NOW they are outraged that the government is spending money.

How about we just forego the usual pointing out of hypocritical douche-baggery on their end, and instead just hand them all a good old fashioned Richard Cheney style "go fuck yourselves" instead?

Conservatives did complain about Bush's spending also, but if you don't read conservitive [sic] blogs, I can see how you might have missed that.

Yeah whatever you say there sport. The only bitching about bush spending I saw on any rightie blogs, was that he wasn't spending ENOUGH money blowing the shit out of brown folks thousands of miles away. The rest tends to be the usual self-centered randian-fruitcake style nonsense about free markets, and pontifications on eliminating taxes, making sure every household has at least 4 automatic weapons, and forcing their twisted version of god down peoples throats.

  16. An inflationary economy is better than no economy at all.

It's better to indebt the next generation than to have a generation that can't pay its debts.

The Know-Nothing, Do-Nothing Party on the right has no solution but to cut taxes, again, for the wealthy, and to balance the federal budget.

It didn't work before, and it won't work now.

After all is said and done, the economy may tank anyway, plunging us into a deep depression, one that may last thirty or forth years, or perhaps the remainder of this century.

But during the interim we will have made the rich richer, and our government solvent, at least for a time: you can't collect taxes from the out-of-work, the down-and-out, and the poor, and the rich and greedy won't be able to find a safe haven from those who have been screwed by the rich and greedy.

When financial institutions put our economy at risk for their short-term gain, when Congress allowed them to become too big to fail, then it was merely a matter of time--actually, less than nine years--before the economic manure would hit the recessionary fan.

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act removed all the safeguards to prevent the very economic meltdown that we're currently experiencing.

Even our European allies are not willing to kick in billions to stimulate their economies so that we might emerge sooner from our economic woes.

They know who was responsible for the free-fall of the world economy (the United States) and they want us to shoulder the full responsibility for any economic remedy that may be needed for the world economy to parachute to safety.

    I can't blame them.

So now the Repubs wish to destroy what is left of our weakening economy, hypocritically and self-righteously ignoring their part in this economic fiasco, while pointing bony accusatory fingers at liberals and the Obama Administration as it struggles to bring this economy back from the brink of disaster that Bush has taken us.

So the Repub's answer to all of this, now that they've been eviscerated at the polls, hold a tea party. Not just any old tea party, but one reminiscent of the one that protested taxation without representation that got the first revolution going in this country.

Of course, their plaint has no credence, because the country used its Constitutional volition to put liberals in those places that they once held.

Had the Repubs acquitted themselves in a manner that benefited the common welfare of the people rather than their own, they wouldn't have to protest so loudly that they're not being represented.

The people have spoken: we have tried your way, and you have failed, from Iraq to Afghanistan, from maintaining our respect in the world to creating a soiled national image, from supporting a healthy and vibrant economy to an unregulated one that was allowed to become too big to fail.

And now you're asking the country for another chance to finish the destruction of the country that you started.

And if these Repubs can't do it at the ballot box, they will do it from within a pillbox loaded with incendiary words, and possibly something more sinister--a violent overthrow of this government.

But this is supposed to be "soft revolution," a "bloodless coup," but who's kidding whom.

The excesses on wall street that is bringing this country to its economic knees will inevitably take control of this "protest revolution," and turn it violent, because the language is violent and inflammatory.

When Bush won the White House, albeit with the help the Supremes, we didn't threatening a revolution, "soft" or otherwise.

It's this Republican response to any defeat, any reduction in its force, and their numbers, that further hardens my resolve to remain liberal, sane, and untouched by their Machiavellian behavior and attitude.

(Let's embarrass liberal, congressional newbies, and put them on YouTube, to show the whole country just how inept liberals can be.)

Unless this Republican bunch are on top, running this country their way (their way is the only way, of course, because their conservative principles are infallible), they will bring down the country, not only upon their heads, but ours as well.

Whatever happened to "government of the people, by the people, for the people"?

I call for a counterrevolution: let's use April 15th to e-mail the GOP headquarters, and every republican in the Legislature and the Senate, voicing our displeasure at what they're attempting to do, and insisting that they stop being impediments to President Obama's plans to rescue our ailing economy.

I don't care if they're a desperate group: people who are desperate do desperate things.

    They're talking revolution aren't they?

After watching the video, I e-mailed the Turkish Embassy in Washington, and Turkish Consulates in L.A, Chicago, New York, wherever they exist in our country, with my own plaint for this disrespect of our president and the American people.

I'm not going to allow any attack on our president or our national dignity go unchallenged, and I suggest that you do the same.

To hell with this notion that it's only satire: images create impressions, and impressions create perceptions, and perceptions color our world view, leading to actions that we may or may not support.

I'm giving nothing a pass in this world where terrorists are blowing themselves up for a dubious cause, and some members of our nation are threatening a revolution, and some are calling for the death of our president.

I don't know that he's spending it all in the right places but clearly, we are going to need to put some money into something, somewhere, instead of blindly continuing the conservative GOP horseshit that undid everything positive that had been gained in the years prior to Bush and Cheney.

    Filled Negro you kill me.

When your ideological soul mates get together regarding their economic concerns (ex: G20, G8, IMF meeting) windows are mashed, fires are set and there is a run in with the police.

These "Tea Parties" will be peaceful as the people with THE MONEY that YOU seek to "redistribute" from in order to support your entitlement plans have a bit more dignity than the anarchist leftists.

You know Filled Negro I am thinking up a new term to compliment the label that I created: "Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser".

I keep coming back to the term "Scare Crow" because it is a take off from the term "strawman". You and other BQPFRCs like to make note that the Black community should feel more threatened by the "Angry White Males" who are likely to have these Tea Parties next ween on Tax Day. In truth - NO BLACK PEOPLE WILL DIE FROM LYNCHING by these groups next Wednesday.

Yet when large groups of the Thug negroes that you defend all of the time get together far too frequently even for your own comfort there IS a "dead Black man" to speak of.

Thus you build up a "Scarecrow" to tear down all the while being unable to focus upon the REAL THREAT to the long life of a Black man today.

    I don't understand you man.

*You focus on the harm from "Fox News" more than BET

*You all focus on "Abstinence Only" rather than "Wrap It Up" which is the prevailing policy in DC and Baltimore - the two hot spots for HIV infections

    * You focus on how the White conservatives in PA don't want to ban guns because they seek to keep their guns more than they care about dead Black people from gun crimes YET you seemingly are unable to rain scorn upon the "Kneegrow Killer" who actually pulled the trigger of the gun that had the Black man in its sights.

Really and seriously - Filled Negro: AS A MAN - when do you stop all of your divergent tactics and focus on the REALL ISSUES that will insure that your murder count in Philadelphia won't hit triple digits?

I don't blame you. I blame the people who are so full of hatred and dishonesty that they feed off of what you put out.

    Hathor:

Have you read the findings of the Congressional Budget Office? A non-partisan group?

Here is how it works Hathor:

The more debt that the federal government runs up - the more Treasury Bonds it must create and sell on the open market.

The more debt and declining confidence that the investors will ever see their investments again - the higher the INTERESTS RATES the Treasury must sell these bonds at.

The higher the interests rates the greater proportion of the federal budget must be allocated for Interest payments to service the debt.

In summary THE MARKET is going to judge the viability of the American economy based on our monetary policy. WE CAN'T JUST KEEP PRINTING MONEY and thus magically creating wealth.

Thus the "Tax Payer" is going to "NOTICE" the end result of all of this debt spending when

    1) The general interest rates for financing increases because so much "funny money" has been printed thus diluting the value of the dollar

    2) Inflation rates for goods go up in proportion of the loss in relative value of the dollar

    3) Budget cuts are executed by a future government because they will have to do so in order to bring the Inflation and Interest rates back into reasonable ranges.

At the end of the day it is a good thing for the market to provide feedback and repudiation to the monetary policy otherwise we can do as I heard some woman on the radio indicated:

Give all Americans $1 million in order to solve our problems

  35. szpork,
Obviouly you don't read my blog or check my blogroll. There were no mention of "Tea Parties" until after Obama was elected. TART hasn't cost 7 trillion dollars, that is an estimate economist think would be enough to settle the financial crisis. I don't think they rest of the 700 billion dollars has been allocated after the 300 billions dollars that was given during Bush' administration. If you are speaking about the budget the approximate deficit for FY 2010 is approximate 1.8 trillion dollars if is is passed by congress and the fiscal year doesn't end until October 1, 2009. The deficits were are incurring now are from Bush' budget. So far the estimates are half a trillion dollars. I have no idea where you get 7 trillions dollars from. Do you mean 2 terms of the present administration, if so that would be less than the previous administration.

Exposing the big line on the federal debt:
    http://withintheblackcommunity.blogspot.com/2008/10/exposing-big-lie-us-debt-where-did.html

The frustrating thing when I listen to people like you who seek to ask "Where were the conservatives when Bush doubled the debt" SPEAKS NOTHING about HOW THE MONEY WAS SPENT.

If the Conservatives did seek to limit spending you would be among the group raising hell about the spending cuts that programs that you favor have suffered.

How do you justify the claims of "Drunken Sailor Spending" against evil Bush back in the day while you and others use "the silence of the Republicans" as your justification for Obama's SPENDING MORE THAN BUSH and raising the debt accordingly?

At the end of the day - today all of this is play money and foreign concepts until the MARKET STRIKES BACK and brings our monetary policy into line.

The whole bail out has to be the biggest upward transfer of wealth in the history of this country. Why are the bankers getting bailed out but common folks in Detroit, New Orleans, Trenton, and Camden are not? Summers, Geithner, Rubin, Bernake...they are all part of the problem. AM2k6:

Your argument lacks the basic elements of veracity to even be considered seriously.

    1) The money paid to stabilize the BANKS was not transfered to BANKERS (ie: INDIVIDUALS). It was transferred to INSTITUTIONS and for the most part they are on the hook for PAYING THIS BACK. Your argument crashes and burns right there (except among leftists who already want to agree with you before you even start typing)

    2) The USA pays $1,000 billion per year - each and every year for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Where as this was projected to double to $2,000 billion per year by 2018, Obama's budget for next year jumps this to about $1,435 in ONE YEAR.

Thus I am struggling to understand your statements about the "biggest transfer of wealth".

Clearly you don't understand the importance BANK LENDING both for starting up businesses and as "lines of credit" to allow presently stressed businesses to gain access to credit to pay their operating expenses.

The reason why the focus is on the BANKS is because without them so much of our commercial and consumer economic crashes and burns.

Barack Obama's BUDGET DEFICIT (one year spending gap) will be close to than the FEDERAL DEBT (total liabilities - not including long term Social Security liability) that evil Reagan left. The "Reagan Budget Deficit" is like "Remember The Alamo" to the Progressive Left:
Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26402-2004Jun8.html

"Voters and politicians became anesthetized to big deficits," Moore recalled. "Reagan was running these big deficits, and liberals argued it was going to be Armageddon. We were going to ruin the economy. Interest rates were going to go through the roof. And none of these things happened."

The fiscal shift in the Reagan years was staggering. In January 1981, when Reagan declared the federal budget to be "out of control," the deficit had reached almost $74 billion, the federal debt $930 billion. Within two years, the deficit was $208 billion. The debt by 1988 totaled $2.6 trillion. In those eight years, the United States moved from being the world's largest international creditor to the largest debtor nation.
Obama's $3,600 billion budget will have an $1,800 billion DEFICIT!!!!!!!

When I debate with you Progressive Bigots it is so critically important to use ACTUAL NUMBERS rather than talking points that you all have gotten from DailyKOS or Huffington Post. You all have yet to see that when the numbers are damning they use terms like "So what Bush DOUBLED the debt as well",

They still have the poor with them begging in the streets, living in the caravans.

    They still have unemployment.

Is there another type of economics out there?

The market works even if nothing else does, but God help us all, the entire world, if something cannot get something moving. Last recession we went into World War II. This mess has started with a war.

Oh by the way, in the U.S. we run our coats, bags, and shoes thru the Xray. We go thru the metal detector and are wanded if we buzz it.

Coming out of Charles de Gaulle in Paris, they Xray the coats, bags etc and some shoes. Metal detect the passengers and then full pat down front and back for MOST people. I would be careful about your optimism about Zero's ability to "turn the economy around". His policies and his playbook are proven losers, as are the majority of his cabinet appointments. This administration is like a never ending SNL skit. Scratch that. Not even SNL would try and foist off a character as idiotic and outrageous as Joe Blow Biden.

Look at the indicators which point to things getting much worse. Right now, the US is fairly sheltered from the fallout....but the economic hurricane is off shore and still gathering steam.

Bulk goods shippers are taking their ships off line -- because world trade is depressed and falling -- right now shippers are going into "hot storage" (aka with crews) but some are choosing "cold" (w/o crews, and shutting the whole thing down). That's a major piece of gear that takes a loooong time to spool up once it's been taken offline. These people don't make these decisions lightly.

  48.
Why should we give that Negro our money?
Filled Negro:

I just got around to reading the TITLE of your diatribe. Now I understand how the rest of the content was such crap.

You see - here is your problem Filled Negro. In a Black man and a Democrat being president YOU are of the mindset that "WE" (meaning "YOU" and your team" are in power). As this line of perverted thinking are at work you see any critique of "your team" as a threat. Anyone doing less than bending over and spreading them is not doing their due diligence as you would have them.

Thus the title is very problematic. When I write my check next week I will have Pay To "The US TREASURY" on my check, not "Pay to the order of President Barack Obama".

I figured that after having cleared out your bank account in 2008 to actually pay money to Barack Obama per his campaign that YOU would be able to see the difference between money paid for the personal benefit of Barack Obama versus money paid to the Federal Government.

Fear not though Filled Negro. Per my research the progressive cities of Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco are planning a new wave of taxation upon their subjects in order to close some rather healthy budget gaps. At this point in time when YOU are personally hit by these taxes I hope that you continue your contorted disposition of not questioning the taxes that YOUR government imposes upon you, regardless of the marginal rate.

Your progressive tax system will one day become regressive as more people are ensnared within.

No Filled Negro - please let us call this what it is: This is an example of your Low Threshold For OBAMA SUCCESS at work.

Regardless how you spin it - a heightened number of Americans are experiencing financial stress and uncertainty. You flashing small points of "good news" does not change the reality for these people who you otherwise claim to be advocating for.

Financially Distressed Person: "Damn. A foreclosure notice on my door knob and I just lost my job and my car"

Filled Negro: "Did you see that the Dow Jones is now about 8,000? Things are looking great for you."

Financially Distressed Person: "Filled Negro - your a self proclaimed socialist. Do you mind if I move in with you? I know that you've made some money on this revived stock market."

Filled Negro: "Negro you crazy!! I just ordered a box of daily use Viagra. There is going to be some screaming in my house and I need my privacy. Can't help you. But I do have a big empty box for you. I ordered a crate of Obama limited edition plates and the box can sleep about 2 people if you cuddle up. How bout it?"

Financially Distressed Person: "Is this the CHANGE that I can believe in out of you Filled Negro?"

Clearly YOU don't understand me and my position. I do not have the goal of "blaming Barack Obama" as my end goal. I am far more interested in inspecting you and other ideological bigots regarding your CHANGES in reactions and advocacy than I care to focus on Barack Obama and what he is doing. It is clear to me that negative and positive outcomes in absolute terms are only recognized as such based on the ideological position that you and others seek to advance.
Question: What if this Obama fellow actually turns this thing around? Would you and your reich wing friends cry yourselves to sleep every night?
Filled Negro I AM IN THE STOCK MARKET from personal investments and my 401k. I have NO BENEFIT in seeing Barack Obama fail. It would cost me as an investor, as an employee as an American citizen.

I make the distinction between the ECONOMY and the GOVERNMENT.

The economy is indeed influenced by the GOVERNMENT and its POLICIES. The city of Philadelphia, for example, if it were to rediscover its founding purpose and got the people living within to once again become an EMPLOYMENT HUB and become intolerant as it relates to CRIME could transform itself and prosper ABSENT the direct control of the federal government in bringing this to fruition.

Thus this would be an example of "Turning things around" without having the president of the United States in play.
I hear you with a lot of criticism, but do YOU or your friends have a plan?

Filled Negro - WHY DO YOU ASK ME FOR A PLAN? Can you show me WHERE you have required an EFFECTIVE PLAN before lending your support to various Progressives and Democrats?

Do you not see the absurdity of your position? You are logically saying: "I am not going to change UNLESS YOU CONVINCE ME TO CHANGE via your PLAN".

All of this in the context of you living in an environment where despite the favorable political alignment at present for you - YOU ARE STILL NOT HAPPY with the results.

Filled Negro - it would be a great accomplishment for ME to get YOU to go up to every progressive who is seeking your support and force them to GIVE YOU THEIR PLAN.

It would be a cherry on top to then have you AUDIT THE RESULTS of their plan after they take power based on the PROMISE that "Things will be different once WE ARE IN CHARGE because we care about people".

Where is your courage to follow through and DEMAND results from those you put into power Filled Negro?

The unfettered free market failed. That is a fact. So how can you be certain what will work. How can you derive a proven true policy from a failed theory. It amazes me that how people apply supernatural outcomes to economics, to get something out of nothing. The only thing that describes that is Genesis.

    Hathor:

Would you then continue you line of reasoning and make note that WHATEVER policies that were followed in what we now call "The Rust Belt" have FAILED?

They fought against the "unfettered free market" as it relates to manufacturing labor. They pushed for government regulation and punitive taxation upon the "Consumers of Labor" who were in the region.

Needless to say - the "Consumers of Labor" began to depart the area and today we have Cleveland, Detroit, Rochester NY and Newark.

Why then don't you make note of these FAILED POLICIES? Rather than "trying harder" to make them work?

Better than "supernatural outcomes" there presently is "the audacity of hope" that purports to turn these areas around.

It is amazing how "yin and yang" work, don't you think?

For example, you counter my comment with an extreme counter argument. Just because I have seen the unfettered free market failed doesn't mean that I want to see the end of capitalism or every aspect micromanaged by the FEDS, and I don't espouse solutions, because I don't think any solution can be garnered from the past and there has not been a similar scenario of our financial crisis to gain any knowledge from. Think about this Filled Negro - as you attack me for my "suburban wonderland" it seems that people who VOTE JUST LIKE YOU DO have chosen to do just as I have. Everybody that doesn't hold their irrational ideology! Period!

Now, let me ask you a question. Don't you think that your obsession with thugs is a little on the abnormal side? Every comment you make has to with thugs. We could be talking about the economy, sports, or whatever, that has nothing to do with thugs, and guess what? You bring up thugs. For someone that lives in the surburbs that should be the least of your worries.

You remind me of Job in the bible. People when they think about Job in the bible the only thing that think about is he was a man of patience but they missed the main idea of what that story was really about. Every day Job would make a burnt offering for his children. Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts." He did this everyday without fail. It was like a ritual with him.

Then one day a tornado struck and killed every last one of his children. Every last one of his children died in that tornado. Job said, "The thing I FEARED the most has come upon me." You see Job's biggest fear was that his children would die in their sins. Your fear is about thugs and it has consumed you to the point that is all you worry about day in and day out and all you want to talk about.

I can understand how people are concerned about the black on black killings or thugs as you love to call them, but they don't let it consume their every being like you do. Like Field said most people go on with their everyday lives and don't live in constant fear. When a person has a fear that consumes them, it becomes a reality. The mind is stronger than people could every imagine and that is a reason they preached and taught about people's thoughts in the bible.

  69. "I don't believe in god, (and if there was one, I certainly wouldn't worship the same one that you do) so you might want to reconsider your argument."

I think that you pulled the rug right from under it--it is now foundationless--which leads me to my next statement.

Field this is a little off topic, but I'm going to request something of you, and, if you believe that it's not within the purview of this blog, I would understand.

You have shared so much of who you are on this blog, but, unless I missed it, you've never discussed your reasons for not believing in God.

Surely, it's none of my business, and I can accept that, but, still...

I have no desire to convert you, or persuade you otherwise, to hold any belief that you don't currently hold--the existence of God, or any other.

My reason for suggesting this is that I'm perplexed.

Why would someone who do not believe in the existence of God have such a strong and profound reverence for his fellow human beings--for their wellbeing, their life, and the quality of that life?

I have followed your blog for a time, and I find you to be sincerely concerned for the welfare of others, more so, I might add, than many who do believe in God, and have established their lives ostensibly for the purpose of helping reduce human suffering.

To say that this, for me, is the epitome of contradictions, would be putting it mildly.

    I'm befuddled.

If there's no God, as you contend, then any action that you pursue will have no ultimate consequence.

In the final analysis, you have no one to please but you, yourself. Why, then, would you pursue a path that would benefit anyone but yourself?

In other words, why create for yourself a morality, or an ethics that would include the interest of anyone but yourself?

Why not approach life from a purely selfish and self-centered basis, mainly motivated to please yourself and yourself only?

Why consider others at all as you live out this one life that is given to you--rather inexplicably, since science cannot agree on our origin--knowing that this is your first and final ride within this vehicle we call life?

I would be immensely interested in a Manifesto Of Your World View, and how you came to possess it.

Mind you, this is merely a suggesting, from one who has observed human nature and the human condition for many years, and have to my satisfaction, at least, come to know many things that are hidden from the average person.

    Will you consider it?

I don't mean to be contentious, Hator, I really wish to understand. You say to "live in a just society."

By what standards, by whose perception, to what end?

If there's no God, and only man's notion of what is just, what would drive you to adhere to any standards of justice, except to escape man's prosecutorial wrath.

Why would any atheist, as Field proclaims himself to be, treat his fellowman in the fair, honest, caring fashion as Field certainly does?

You can't read him for long without appreciating his keen interest in the welfare of his fellowman.

My question is, Why? Why would he, or any one of like mind, be so motivated?

I ask without antagonism. I have none. Not even out of curiosity. I find the human heart, and mind perplexing.

I'm merely seeking answers to a perplexity, one that seems to elude rationality.

Yet, Hator, I thank you for your answer. If you care to elaborate, I'd be grateful.

  72. DB, Thanks for posing that question to me and for even caring. It's a damn good one and one that deserves an answer.

I promise I will answer that for you later on. (Can't now I am prepping for a case) Let's just say that my life is full of contradictions. I am a PK (preacher's kid) and my father was not only a preacher but a college president and administrator whose job it was to educate preachers. He has written books and quite a few papers on Theology and has baptized more people than there are in some small states.:)

He was full of humanity and loved his god and his fellow man.Obviously some of what he had rubbed off on me, but somewhere along the line I got messed up:)
Maybe growing up in the church and observing the politics and some of the stuff that went on behind the scenes made me a cynic, and ultimately caused me to become who I am when it comes to religion.

What I love about you DB is that you are a seeker; that is always a good thing. You can never go wrong with more knowledge.

I come from a long line of preachers in my family as well. I even attended a bible college before and went a little further than that. I understand what you are talking about and can relate to it, because it is all the man-made doctrine that turns me off as well, and believe it or not it also grieves the Holy Spirit. Man has turned a simple pure doctrine into a man-made mess and they are blind and can't see it. So many of them have taken the place of the pharisees, scribes, sadducees, and modern day den of thieves.

I had a dream once about judgment day. In it I saw millions and millions of people lined up waiting to get inside the gate. The strange thing about that dream was that it wasn't the church folks with the big pretty hats and men in fine suits getting through that gate, it was the downtrodden, the poor, the homeless, and those that people looked down on that were getting through it.

I had several other dreams and a vision about judgment day and it won't be what some are expecting because they haven't learned to love and embrace each other for who they are and not what they have or can do. I don't care how many big offerings or tithes you give to the church or how many Pastor's appreciations you participate in or give or that are given for you, it is not going to get you through those gates. If you don't have the love of God in your heart and obey his word, all those other things are meaningless.

BTW, most preacher's kids feel the same way you do, but later on down the road they usually come home. One thing that folks tend to forget is that the church is for the sick, so that's why you see so many hyprocrit there. After all being a hyprocrit is also a sickness spiritually speaking.

  74. Black Diaspora,

Not as extreme as to escape the wrath of man, but living in a functional society requires certain responsibilities from every member, even if that society is as small as 50 members. Every group has decided on government and developed a moral system. Most societies agree on some basic concepts among them, regardless of the religious system. It is intrinsic to human culture that has evolved over time to help our survival. The spiritual needs of humans vary, not all depend upon a god to guide them.

Amen, Granny. I know you know this but in the Bible someone asked Jesus if only a few people will be saved. He said to work hard to enter through the narrow gate for many will try to get in but many won't make it. And once God closes and locks the door, many will be left standing outside crying and in distress.

I believe that learning to 'love' one another is the 'heart of the matter'. It is probably the most important but most difficult task for human beings to accomplish here on earth. It is a special kind of knowledge that is the Knowledge of all knowledge. The logic of love is the logic of creation and existence. It is trans-logical, trans-rational, and trans-personal. All noble and moral acts flow from It. Love is the final resting place for which everything else is mere preparation. Looking at our society and the world, Christ is right...very few will make it.

  76.
on't you think that your obsession with thugs is a little on the abnormal side? Every comment you make has to with thugs. We could be talking about the economy, sports, or whatever, that has nothing to do with thugs, and guess what? You bring up thugs. For someone that lives in the surburbs that should be the least of your worries.
Granny - you are a feisty one. This is what I like about you.

You see Granny - I am a tremendous consumer of THE NEWS. I noticed a pattern of events within the Black Community. From this I started a series on my blog entitled "What Is Making Black People Cry Today?"

This was done in response to the emotionally charged scenes on the news that I see on a near daily basis.

It is quite ironic, Granny, that your disposition in questioning my obsession with THUGS sounds strangely like the WHITE RACISTS of the past who asked the great Ida B. Wells "why do you focus so much on the BLACK LYNCHING VICTIMS when the rest of you Nigras have it so good as compared to the people in Africa?"

You see Granny - the commonality between you and these Racist White people is that both of you were prone to DEFEND THE SYSTEM to which these gross assaults were a threat to.

Filled Negro- for example, is not going to attack the entire system in Philadelphia because it is run by people who are IDEOLOGICALLY FAVORABLE TO HIM. Thus he is forced to expand the police tape to include the Conservatives in the state who refuse to take the guns away from young Black males so they can stop killing each other.

Thus Granny, to directly answer your question - I AM NOT INFATUATED WITH "THUGS".

I see myself as the VOICE OF BLACK VICTIMS WHO'S CAUSE IS NOT GOING TO BE TAKEN UP BY THE BIASED BLACK ESTABLISHMENT BECAUSE THEIR ASSAILANTS ARE NOT OF AN 'EXPLOITABLE TEXTURE' to serve the establishment's purposes.

I guess upon seeing these videos I should just tell these Black victims "Too bad!! Next time get attacked by a White Conservative wearing a Fox News shirt and THEN we will come to your rescue"?

These Thugs of today are my "KKK of the past". They are TERRORIZING THE BLACK COMMUNITY just the same.

  77. Granny:

I was sitting in a Christian church this morning, listening to how great our Jesus is and what he had commanded his followers to do - Be Fishers Of Men.

As I sat in my integrated church within the suburbs, free from the Thugs that I fear the most, I watched a video of a White European man who was presented as the image of Jesus Christ then grave irony popped into my mind with respect to our recent exchange on this message thread.

You see Granny - I made the following statement to the man that both of us know and love - Field Negro:

"Filled Negro the key difference between you and I is that you measure your success by the long, twisting line of people in you SOUP LINE that you can look to your God and say "God - look at how many people I am HELPING. Show me favor for my works".

To which my good friend and Philly homeboy replied:
I don't believe in god,(and if there was one, I certainly wouldn't worship the same one that you do)so you might want to reconsider your argument.
Then YOU, a Christian, made the following comment to me:

Granny - and if you are not a Christian - please tell me otherwise. This is cool. I am NOT trying to judge you but only attempting to converse with you as a Christian brother.

WHAT allowed you to BYPASS the atheistic treatises of the dear Field-Negro, not showing any concern about HIS statements yet you come after ME - because I have the audacity to make note about how our people are being slaughtered today but their assailants seem to escape the active damnation of those who saw fit to react to White folks when they engaged in the wholesale slaughter of Black people?

    What of Field-Negro's SOUL?

Does your distaste for MY IDEOLOGICAL POSITIONS repulse you more than the thought that our dear friend Field-Negro is LOST on his spiritual walk - from a Christian perspective that is. Field-Negro might indeed be content with his rationalizations. This is cool. But again - THIS IS NOT ABOUT FIELD-NEGRO, Granny, this is about YOU!!!

Sitting right under your nose on a daily basis is a man who calls himself "Field-Negro". He states that he does not believe in GOD nor YOUR JESUS.

As a Christian I suspect that you, like I, will be called to account for the fish who we agreed with on worldly POLITICAL subjects but which we never sought to address their SOUL so that they too might spend eternity in the Kingdom of God.

Why the focus upon me rather than Field-Negro, Granny?

[I acknowledge Black Diaspora for raising these questions to our dear friend Field-Negro - the non-believer.]

(Jody - do you mind if I explain this key nuance to you so I won't have to suffer from one of your attacks?

You see Granny skipped over the words of Field-Negro which should have drawn her attention and instead she went after ME because I show outrage over the wanton killing of Black people which doesn't appear to draw the consistent outrage from the community.

Thus I am asking Granny to explain her line of thinking.

    Got it Jody?)

  78.
nor do I live my life trying to influence what might or might not happen when I am long dead and gone. Again, I am trying to help real people in the real world.
Filled Negro:

Do you mind if I transpose your words above and apply it to YOUR RELIGION: "Racism Chasing"?

Just imagine if those who struggled for civil rights against the forces who stood against them (the same forces which are now all Republicans and Fox News watchers) had decided to not "INFLUENCE WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN LONG AFTER THEY ARE DEAD AND GONE"?

It seems to me that the oft heard taunt which says "If we had followed your course - we'd still be slaves" should apply to you.

The ultimate irony is that you constantly seek to reach back into history and look at what happened to Black people as a means of accepting the INFERIORITY that you seek to bathe our people in. Yet in the case at hand you want to focus on TO-DAMNED-DAY rather than how your actions and the CULTURE that you maintain will one day be HANDED TO YOUR PROGENY and thus your "TODAY" will be their "HISTORY".

In my analysis - the reason for your disposition is because you are conflicted. As a Progressive you are unwilling to cut off certain OPTIONS which prove unproductive because you seek to maximize the freedoms of behavior of a people from any strictures. This works, in your mind, because you seek to transfer this burden to the GOVERNMENT. Thus whatever the masses of people do in pursuit of their free will - it is the government's job to protect them from themselves. If there is FAILURE....it is the GOVERNMENT'S FAILURE.

Another Point of Distinction between you and I is that I see each new born child today as an opportunity to sculpt a new and different FUTURE based upon the management of what that child is exposed to and the THOUGHTS and MESSAGES that are allowed into his head. In as much as there is a massive dysfunction within the community to agree upon a productive culture and to actively evacuate all of the thoughts and messages that distract from this FAVORABLE END - there will be perpetual dysfunction because YOU HAVE ALLOWED ALL THAT IS NECESSARY TO PRODUCE THIS to go unchallenged.

The "Slave Master's Whip" is NOT more powerful than the "Hands that rock the cradle TO-DAMNED-DAY"!!!!

The more political power that you favor comes over the areas that you are most interested in, Filled Negro, the more the flaws in your ideology are exposed......BUT.....in your bigotry - the more you go on the attack against the PERMANENT ADVERSARY, blaming HIM for the unfavorable outcomes.

It is YOU who need to be inspected for your assumptions, Filled Negro.

  79. Constructive:

In answer to your question. Some people you are led to pray for and I am led to just pray for him. Disapora was led to ask him that question. Field was raised in a church and it was the church that turned him off and drove him away. I'm not led to push him further away and make him feel like I'm shoving it down his throat. Jesus is a gentleman and so is the Spirit. Some people you're led to give them a word and some you're led to pray for. Disapora was given the words to ask him and I was given to pray for him.

Yes, I am a Christian a believer. Nope, it has nothing to do with your ideology because men's ideologies are foolishness anyway in the eyes of the Lord. No, I am not against you as a person or against you because of your ideology. In fact, I'm not against you at all. When I said I love you too, I meant that. I think that you are a very intelligent person, but I don't agree with the way you go about getting your point across because it's a turn off.

Now, concerning thugs, I could tell you a whole lot of things about them that Granny does not like and feels embarrassed for my people about. However, that is not going to solve not one problem. Complaining about it does not make it better, it only makes it worse. I believe in rolling up your sleeves, getting out in the field, and doing something to make a difference to get them to turn their life around.

In my neighborhood not too far from me there use to be these young men selling drugs. One day I went to this place that helps young people get a job and picked up a stack of applications. I passed them out to those young men and explain to them what the program was all about. All of them has strange looks on their face and didn't say one word to me but they took the applications. I went on about my business.

Whelp, a couple of months ago, I ran into one of them at the gas station, and he told me that he had got married, has a stable job, and moved to another state. He told me that him and a couple of those guys went and checked out that program that I referred them to and all have jobs now. The young man told me that the best thing that ever happened to him was the day I came and passed out those applications.

There was another young man that I used to try to talk to about turning his life around. One day I pulled the young man aside and told him he would be in prison in the next couple of months if he didn't turn his life around. He winded up going to prison. I got a letter from him while he was in prison. He told me that everything I told him was right and came to pass. I had warned him that he was going to get into some serious trouble in a couple of months.

Constructive, each individual is different in some ways, even in the paths they choose to take. There are some young men that don't want to be out there in those streets and would rather have a job, others who have to learn the hard way, and some that will never learn. You can't lump all of them in the same boat either.

  80. I LIKE GRANNY!!!!

Granny - I don't agree with your politics. You spend about as much time condemning Republicans as you claim that I attack Black Criminal Thugs.

Above all Granny - I respect your wisdom. Some of these young folks could learn a lot from you.

    **********

As for Filled Negro being RUN AWAY FROM THE CHURCH he only needs to look at a strong Black woman named Fannie Lou Hamer of Mississippi.

You see back in 1964 she traveled to Atlantic City New Jersey to demand a seat at her party's convention.

The racists in the party REFUSED to seat her. Instead of being "RUN AWAY" she instead saw the vital importance of her PEOPLE having a HOME for their societal justice and political representation of their interests.

Thus Granny - her CLEAR VISION OF THE FUTURE was stronger than the HATRED and SPIT that they could amass upon her.

In her RESOLVE - she made the history books.

My fried Filled Negro needs to stop bytching and tell all of the hypocrites in the liberal Black Church that pissed him off that they need to use the BIBLE as their guiding light.

    Problem solved.

    Constructive Feedback,

You might want to look at your analysis of Field again because a lot of your own projections are coming through your comments. For instance, you were sitting IN CHURCH today ON EASTER, thinking about Field, and 'judging' him. That is, you were looking at the speck in Field's eye, and missing the log in your own eye. (Your God must be very pleased).

Yet, you see Field as conflicted. You sir, are seeing yourself in Field and you don't even know it. From your many 'windy' comments you have claimed to be helping your race in a way that you think is the ONLY WAY. Who do you think you are, Christ?

No wonder you always have a novel to write when you comment. It's all been about your own ego's shallow self-gratification. Mr. CF, it's YOU who needs stringent self-examination as a Christian, as a human being, and as a man. You can't end your internal conflicts by finding fault with Field. That only leads to you becoming obsessed with someone you can't control. Get the log out of your own eye before you try to take the speck out of Field's eye. Get it? (Probably not)

Imo, Field has the heart of a spiritual human being because he recognizes his faults. That's what it means to be a human being. But CF, you don't seem to know that. You must be one of those 'sinless' Christians who God sees as perfect.
