"I am very troubled that you would repeatedly over a decade or more make statements" like the one in 2001..

Living in A-merry-ca sometimes makes me wonder if I am not playing a character in one of those crazy Mel Brooks movies.

Is that Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) sitting across from, and sitting in judgement of, Sonia Sotomayor, while she tries to become the first Hispanic member of the supremes? (Cardozo doesn't count, he was Portuguese.) Please say it ain't so. Talk about the theater of the absurd.

Here is a man who openly despises anything [or anyone] having to do with civil rights; was cool with the KKK until he found out that some of them smoked pot, and called a black subordinate "boy" on quite a few occasions, while telling him to watch how he addressed white folks. And this man is sitting in judgment of Sotomayor and implying that she is a racist? Wow! Now that takes big ones. Only a republican could pull that off.

The irony of this entire episode is so thick that you could cut it with a knife. Sessions, himself, was shot down for a federal bench because of his little race problem, and now, like a bad horror movie, the GOP has brought him back. This time to be their face of these confirmation hearings. Nice.

This cannot sit well with my black friends in the republiklan party (Oh yes, I am on them again) and some of them have not been shy about making their feelings known about it. I can't say that I blame them. I would be pissed off as well. You would think my fiends (that's a typo but I am leaving it. It fits) from the party of Lincoln (oh, and let's not forget MLK) would be smarter than this. Alienating an entire voting block (Hispanics) by having your racist front man beat up on one of their own might be good red meat (no pun intended) to throw to your base, but it's dumb politics.

Of course, some on the right don't see it that way. They see it as a vindication of sorts: Mr. Sessions comes to Washington, the very place that sent him packing back to Alabama over 20 years ago. To them, he has come full circle, and now he is leading the charge against the evil liberal appointee to the highest court in the land. It's exactly this type of thinking that has caused folks like Byron York (the clown whose article I linked) and the rest of the people on the right to be banished to the political wilderness. A place where they could find themselves dwelling for years to come. Here is the thing: Old white men aren't getting any younger, and they will all eventually die. It is time that they (The GOP) adjust to the political landscape, or I am afraid that the party of Lincoln (and King*rolling eyes*) will die right along with them.

I am sorry, but while looking at that picture of old Jeff, I see a man who as a kid watched some strange fruit hanging from trees down in Southern Alabama while his daddy and granddaddy drank moonshine. Oh field, stop it! The man flat out denied that he was a racist at his own confirmation hearing. “I am not a racist” Now tell me, if the man was a racist for crying out loud, would he have said that? Ahhh yes. In fact, that is exactly why he would say it. Here is the thing: if you have to declare that you are not a racist, there is a pretty good chance that you just might be one. Ok wise guy, consider this:

"A few years ago, when Sessions appeared on “Meet the Press” to discuss confirmations, he found himself staring at an old image of Kennedy speaking in 1986. “Mr. Sessions is a throwback to a shameful era which I know both black and white Americans thought was in our past,” Kennedy said. It wasn’t something Sessions enjoyed reliving.
'That was the most unkind thing that has ever been said about me,' Sessions says. 'it was exceedingly painful to hear someone of that prominence make that statement, and it was hurtful because it wasn’t true.”'

I know Jeff, It wasn't true about you. But keep probing. I bet we can make it stick to that Hispanic woman.

First! I wish the Senate didn't have rules of decorum. I just wish that one Decocrat had the balls to remind Sessions of his racist statements and that "wise Latina" remark isn't even in the same ball park as his KKK remark.

When will you people learn? W-Man speak with "Fork Tongue"

    "The Pilgrims: Voyage to Freedom"
They disagreed with the religious teachings of the Church of England.

In fact, the Pilgrims were members of a group of people called Separatists. These people had different beliefs than the rest of the English people. In 1606, they formed their own church in a small village called Scrooby.

I was watching with some folks who said Judge Sotomayor must have been doing multiplication tables in her head the first day, to keep so cool. Long division, calculating pi. Because I would have lost my shit with Sessions, my eyes would have rolled so hard. That shit reminded me of too many facuty meetings I have had to sit through in the last 20 years, but with real actual high stakes.

Best moment of the day for me? when Sen. Amy Klobuchar said she had run into judge Sotomayor's mother in the bathroom. I can just imagine what that conversation was like. GAH!

  10. This is from Rat Buchanan's column,"How to Handle Sonia":

"Why did McCain fail to win the white conservative Democrats Hillary Clinton swept in the primaries? He never addressed or cared about their issues."

"These are the folks whose jobs have been outsourced to China and Asia, who pay the price of affirmative action when their sons and daughters are pushed aside to make room for the Sonia Sotomayors. These are the folks who want the borders secured and the illegals sent back."

"Had McCain been willing to drape Jeremiah Wright around the neck of Barack Obama, as Lee Atwater draped Willie Horton around the neck of Michael Dukakis, the mainstream media might have howled."

    "And McCain might be president."

At least now Hispanics understand how white folks feel about them. For too long, they have tried to distance themselves from Black folks, saying that their problems were not ours, and vice-versa, when, in fact, we DID, and DO, have problems in common in this country. I guess it takes this mess for them to finally understand. Let's hope they get the message.

Sonia Sotomayor will be confirmed. But just maybe, through this gawdawful process she's gone through, the LIES that "mainstream" Hispanics have been telling themselves will finally come to an end.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sotomayor, in case, you don't get it Mr R is a minority, a woman, and she is Latino. It's a funny thing about women, when you get to insulting or degrading women in the public that pisses other women off. In addition, when a racist has the nerve to insult a minority, minorities get pissed off. Also, when you insult a Latino, then that pisses off the Latino/Hispanic community off.

So, I'd call that strike three and yourrrrr out! I love to watch the way the GOP plays baseball, because they have a knack for striking out every single time. Their like the clowns of baseball. Yup!

That is so true, maybe, and just maybe, this might be a wake up call to them. They fell for the game that was being played on them, and got beside themselves. And even had the nerve to turn their noses up and look down on us like we were nobody, not knowing that they were in the same boat as us. They even jumped on the massa's side, helping fight against us, and we were the ones fighting for their civil rights and who fought for all minorities to have rights. We kept trying to tell them that it was the same game played beginning with the Indians. They really thought that massa felt differently about them. Because of all the false flattery. Now, they're finding out what we knew all the time. I know it hurts. However, sometimes it takes hurt to jolt people back to reality. This is a humbling lesson and experience for them. I pray that they learned their lesson regarding where they really stand in America.

  30. I just can't believe the duplicity of the GOP. Major case of the pot calling the kettle black here. I just can't believe it. Well, maybe I can. It really boggles the mind though. For a political party trying to broaden their horizons and reach out to all people, why choose such close-minded, openly racist, backwards- thinking and altogether unqualified people to run the party? I'm talking about this dude here, and our favorite GOP figurehead Mr. Steele, among many others. (Shout out to Ann Coulter & Rush Limbaugh.)

Sessions is the kind of guy you wouldn't want to have as a boss. Or a coworker. Or a neighbor, because the man would straight up screw you over. I can understand black people having conservative beliefs or whatever, but to stick with "the party of Lincoln and MLK" after all this? Come on now. Colin, I'm talking to you. Now I'm not saying that the Dems are necessarily the better party, but at this point in history they are the party that is more accepting of the progressive agenda, but that doesn't mean that they have all the best interests of minorities at heart. At least become independent. Bottom line is, the GOP, as we know it, will soon cease to exist if this kind of abhorrent behavior continues. So please, to any Republican sympathizers out there, jump off the ship, and let the Titanic sink on its own.

  31. I keep wondering how long this powder keg is going to last next to the fire.

How much can people black, white, hispanic, asian, be pushed for anger to become violence.

Who stands to gain from race riots in this country. Martial law was tried out in Manhattan after 9/11. Anybody with an internet connection and 10 minutes can dig up enough information point to an inside job.

Katrina proved to be a stress test for the government. Sure it was a natural disaster but the willful disregard for levee fortifications and the criminal mishandling of the "relief" efforts afterward point toward something more of an experiment than government failure.

We can coordinate intricate war plans and move massive amounts of troops and weaponry around the world at our leisure but we can't save a few thousand people from dying at the Superdome?

"It only takes a spark to get a fire going." Sorry for the poor usage of the lyrics but I believe there is a coming fire in this country the groundwork for which was being laid under the Bush administration. It doesn't seem to be abating what with the present administration continuing many of the controversial/unconstitutional policies of the Bush white house.

Next in line will be the discussion of the US Senate not having someone of color when that Brother from Illinois leave. The dichotomy of truth- what is true and what the fiends tell you is true. Let me tell you all again---I am glad to still be here to see some truth being forced out all these entrenched racial henchmen and their programs that they have been handeling for ages. Each day something new comes out to see how corrupt and a racially mean-spirit still exist DEEP in the American psychic. It a joy to see the majority in American calling minorities raciest. Even if the lady - Madame Sotomayer- is racially motivated, she can't control the vote in the Supreme Court. The white males control the SC, Congress, Senate, Wall Street,---- you'll get the message. 44. Liberals Lash Out Against Sotomayor Testimony

In an online debate last night, liberal Georgetown Law Professor Mike Seidman declared himself “completely disgusted” by her testimony.

Seidman, who clerked for liberal icon Thurgood Marshall, wrote:

“If she was not perjuring herself, she is intellectually unqualified to be on the Supreme Court. If she was perjuring herself, she is morally unqualified. How could someone who has been on the bench for seventeen years possibly believe that judging in hard cases involves no more than applying the law to the facts?”

“Legal academics who defend what she did today have no such excuse. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

    @MR.R-

I think you fundamentally mis-understand what these hearings are about. Whether you like Sotomayor or not, she has nearly guaranteed majorities both in Committee and a significant super-majority in the Senate. She was already confirmed by the Senate for her present job, to which she was appointed by George Bush.

These hearings are not about Sotomayor; there is virtually no chance she won't be confirmed, and if there was anything big enough to upset that, it would have been brought out within days of her nomination.

What these hearings are about is millions of Hispanics and their allies watching, and reading about these hearings, watching one political party interact with her relatively nicely, and the other not so nicely.

Unless the Republicans change their tune, they may be sinking their Hispanic support for a generation or more.

That's what these hearings are about.

  48. Anony 12:13, I fully agree with you.

The news flash is coming in again. I can't speak much about Mexican and Latin Amer. Spanish speaking immigrants. But I can tell you about certain Puerto Ricans and many Dominican immigrants. This is the general mindset.

At one time my father had to go P. Rico every week for medical reasons. In various public places they would always assume he's Puerto Rican like them, and the things they say regarding race and mainland American politics would send your pressure boiling. This situation with Sotamayor should be a reality check reminder for many of them.

As for many Dominicans who are usually black skinned, they amuse me. They seem to think speaking Spanish excludes them from the black race.

Anony 7:45 am, I used to say the same thing, but then I got a clue. I bet if the Palins and other white people start naming their children those “weird and funny” names, they wouldn’t be so weird or funny anymore, right? The problem isn’t about how weird the name may sound, it’s more about personal bias and prejudice when people associate the names with a particular race. I have the whitest of the white girl’s first and last name. However, the racist minds don’t fully go by that anymore. Based on my predominantly black region, it’s still a red flag (until more white people continue to invade and take over the place). And you know what, personally I would rather “Shanequa” over “Piper” .

    Anon and LaIncognita,

Growing up in NYC I had a different experience.

Puerto Ricans, many of whom have obvious African blood, had a definite affinity with black Americans. Especially those who were born in the US.

I dated PR girls as well as black girls all during my youth.

Dominicans on the other hand have the same attitudes on race that Brazilians have.

That is while in America one drop of black blood makes you black, their attitude is one drop of non black blood makes you something other than black.

Mexicans, Central Americans and South Americans for the most part are either aboriginal, mestivo (Part aboriginal part caucasion) or descendants of the Iberian colonialists.

And of course they have no affinity with blacks whatsoever.

Having grown up maybe 2 miles from where Sotomayor did and being only 6 years younger, I'll bet Sonia had many black friends and socialized often with black people.

Why is it in your feeble mind that the only people who are ever "pandered" to are non-whites?

Alito and Roberts weren't examples of "white pandering"?

    If not, why not?

BTW, Alito was a member of a racist organization that tried to limit minority appointments at Princeton and that didn't curtail his nomination.

I'm unclear how you could get this from my statement. In any case, it's not what I was trying to say.

What I'm trying to say is that virtually every Democrat, and several Republicans are nearly guaranteed votes for her confirmation. To be clear, this is over the number of Senators needed to break a filibuster. This includes over half of the committee. This exact same committee, with some of the same members previously confirmed her. As an appellate judge, she has been continually scrutinized by numerous lawyers who would like nothing more than to get anything scandalous on her, so that they could try to get an opinion they didn't like thrown out. As they hadn't succeeded, there simply isn't a scandal here.

While I'm glad that the Senate is going thorough the mechanics of a confirmation, there's really no chance she won't be confirmed. From my perspective, the only thing of interest in these hearings is how much certain members of the Republican party will choose to go to alienate Hispanics.

As for Sotomayor, she isn't my first pick for a Justice (although she'd likely be in the top 20) - largely because her opinions tend to be more conservative than I'd prefer. In any case, after reading several of her opinions, I have no qualms about her competency as our next Supreme Court Justice.

I have long lamented how Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann became “Antoine and Blaine” (From TV’s “In Living Color”) as they homoerotically drooled over President Barack Obama far more than any of their sexist male media peers. Following their dual leads, MSNBC morphed into a repulsive mockery of a “news” channel, as it officially became the shamelessly biased “Obama TV”…

Finally, a real man has publicly admitted these same ongoing truths. Only real men admit that the media are rabidly sexist, and that Hillary Clinton’s marginal loss to Obama was grossly fueled by that sexism.

See more real truths from a real man, media critic Bernard Goldberg. Read his new book:

A SLOBBERING LOVE AFFAIR: THE TRUE (AND PATHETIC) STORY OF THE TORRID ROMANCE BETWEEN BARACK OBAMA AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

    http://www.amazon.com/Slobbering-Love-Affair-Pathetic-Mainstream/dp/1596980907

See Goldberg’s recent CNN interview regarding the contagion of Matthews’ “man crush” on Obama:

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/02/22/media-critic-blasts-chris-matthews-man-crush-on-obama/

I sincerely hope that president Obama succeeds and saves the world. I know that the revolution will never be televised... But, the reality of a rapidly escalating global depression may finally reveal that President Obama is no more than an eloquent empty suit…

    ReplyDelete
  96. AB:

You love greta, but she does not love you, she hates black people and LGBT with a passion. You are black and a lesbian aren't you? She is another bonafide racist and so is geraldo. In fact, the only one you listed that I can say is half way okay is Shepherd and even he gets sick of their mess sometimes and has to air out his true feelings publicly every once in a while. He probably won't last their much longer because he is going against the grain at Fox News. I'm sure Roger Ailes is fit to be tied with him. I just hope some other station will hire him, because he really doesn't fit in there.

"and i hate the fools herien like "and i hate the fools herien like mack lying who slander the whole of my selves..."

There's no reason to attack someone just because they managed to highlight a few of your less savory personality traits. You should have done yourself a favor by leaving my name out of your little fits. But since your mental capacities are rather childlike, I can see this being a problem for you. But please do your best to refrain from putting my name in your temper tantrums, m'kay?

Meanwhile, MR.R, which I will hereafter refer to as "Boy" (because I, very much like whites from the older era, absolutely refuse to accord him any respect, especially by using an honorific title), plays his position as the "sane" republican voice here. From the look of things, he's playing it as well as he can. Don't worry, Boy. I'll try to answer as many of your questions as I can:

"Why is it in your feeble mind that the only people who are ever "pandered" to are non-whites?"

Notice how no one has to pander to "whites" as a collective -- you have your soccer moms, white collar/blue collar, DINKs, metrosexuals, etc etc. But when it comes to Blacks, they get lumped into one single monolitic block. It happens to other ethnic groups, but to a lesser extent. As it so happens, the "minority" vote is well on it's way to becoming the most important vote for future elections, and there's no good in alienating not one, but TWO minority groups, especially when they end up being the deciding factor in whether or not you win that election.

"BTW, this wise latina also belongs to a racist group founded by someone who believes its ok to kill white people to get what you want."

Juxaposed with Jeff Sessions' prior admiration of the Ku Klux Klan, I can't be bothered to even pretend to be "alarmed" at this rather suspect fact. While I do find her "wise Latina" comment to be rather pretentious and condesending, it doesn't warrant the full-on deconstruction that the republicans are intent on delivering.

I appreciate that you took the time to reply to many of these ridiculous comments. It really shows that you know what you're talking about. I obviously can't say that for everyone.

You would like me to be your little boy wouldn't you.I'm not into your kinky liberal sex games.

I'll try to answer as many of your questions as I can:
"Why is it in your feeble mind that the only people who are ever "pandered" to are non-whites?"

Thats not a question of mind.Thats typical liberal behavior.Bring up something that applys to whites in order to take focus off of a minority group.

Notice how no one has to pander to "whites" as a collective -- you have your soccer moms, white collar/blue collar, DINKs, metrosexuals, etc etc.

    Everyone can be metrosexual.

But when it comes to Blacks, they get lumped into one single monolitic block. It happens to other ethnic groups, but to a lesser extent.

You have your black leaders, black culture, and white liberals to thank for that.

No white racist Repubthug can take coin for that.

Just think of this. How much power would black Americans have if the withheld least 30% of their vote for Democrats next election? And black Americans threaten to do the same every election til they got what they want?

You would have every elected Democrat on their knees ready to perform fellatio and cunnilingus on every black person that could vote.

Black folks think they have little power in this country.Blacks don't realize the power thats in their hands.

And you wouldn't have to wait on the "minority" block.

    MR R.

Can you please, please try to do "Something White"? What is the problem? most white folk I know cut their lawns, get tan or go surfing at the beach after work.

Are you really black? How many white people have time to stay on a blog called Field Negro and why would they anyway.

White people want to get as far away from black people as they can. They want to plan a vacation or talk about their 401k plan watch their kids soccer or basketball game.

White men want to talk about things like will Michigan beat Ohio state or where can they get tickets. I'll say it again "PLEASE DO SOMETHING WHITE"

I like to fly kites after work and most of my white friends do to. I can't even talk to them about you. They would not believe your kind had time to do this shit.

I see more White People at Jazz concerts than black people. Where I live white people get on I-10 (Santa Monica Fwy) and keep stepping and as they say "Enjoy the fruits of their Ancestors labor"

Don't you read the value of white wealth vs black or brown wealth? Go debate Iraq or something else besides arguing on something called "Field Negro"

ALL THE WHITE MEN I KNOW ARE CHASING WHITE CHICKS AT THE BEACH" Don't you like blonde babes with big boobs?

What is wrong MR R.? did some black guy rob you or beat you up as a child? Please MR R. go do "Something White", get a bike go hiking, get a girlfriend or a boyfriend but please stop coming on here.

The people from my hood would ask "Why would a white guy argue with a bunch of N's, (I hope i didn't offend anyone buy using the N-Word) No one is trying to take your job away. If your white wife or white girl leaves you we didn't take her she left for a black guy.

Do you hear where I'm coming from? Get an advanced degree or something useful for a job promotion.

Every white guy I know likes to use tools to build things they are proud of who they are.

WHITE PEOPLE THINK U ARE CRAZY OR ON METH.

AGAIN I REPEAT "GO DO SOMETHING WHITE OR AT LEAST TRY TO ACT WHITE.

    Thanks MR. R.

"bush ignited a race war when he revived jim crow to steal 2 elections since 2000..."

Jim Crow was the hell that extended the injustices of slavery, and the term, in itself, is historically unique. Segregation, however, is not. I'm sure many people, including Session, are in favor of that, and would gleefully employ it with a modern spin, if given the chance.

George Bush was a C-average, spoiled, rich frat boy that cheated his way out of Florida and to the white house in 2000. What happened in '04 is up for debate.

The two issues are not related, although you could argue that Bush did indeed start a race war, or at least significantly increased racial tensions. (Katrina). Recent activity, e.g. the '08 election and the current state of the GOP, has magnified that. I would not be surprised to see race riots/ civil rights campaigns /an all-out war going on in the next coming decades. Whites can only keep this crap up for so long. Sooner or later, somebody's going to revolt.

A bunch of old white guys pleading to a woman, and a Latina at that, for equal rights under the law. AH, it does my heart good. I never thought I'd live to see the day. And Field's right--these guys will be gone in another decade or two. And they know it.

Don't be condescending. Granny is liked and respected here.

Although Granny can handle her own, know this: One or two things will happen here, if you take her on--you'll either be ostrasized by other bloggers, and you won't have your spiel taken seriously, or we'll deliver what we're more than capable of delivering, the big smack down.

Grow some respect would be my suggestion.

is the m for "miseducated about jim crow?"

    fix that!

Jim Crow laws laws required blacks to use separate phone booths and bathrooms, and in some cases, deprived blacks of the right to vote.
    ______

JIM CROW refs are perfect analogies regarding how blacks and jews were deprived the right to fairly and equally vote from 2000-2008!!!....

from closed polls, to hanging chads, to FL votes going to that kid's pasted nazi pat b....

see much more on jim crow in amerikkka from 2000-2008 here:

    http://www.geocities.com/ambwww/shrub.htm

In Florida, using those illegal ballots, 3407 elderly Jewish persons sincerely thought
that they were voting for Gore as they voted for Nazi Pat Buchannan (Bukkkanan)

1 in 3 black ballots were discarded in predominately black areas of Florida. That is
four times as many ballots as were discarded in predominately white areas of Florida.

Thousands of newly registered black voters nationwide never received registration
cards by mail. And, they were denied a chance to use additional identification in lieu of those
    mysteriously missing registration cards.

Thousands of black voters were unable to vote because they were illegally forced to
present two photo ID’s and were unable to do so.

Nationwide, blacks who had voted without any problems for years were suddenly
plagued by missing registrations and poll changes.

Voters nationwide reported no pens being distributed and punch ballots being
inoperable/inaccurate. Many voters were illegally refused additional ballots for
correction, even while Republikkkan poll workers were visibly using extra ballots as
    fans.

Many Haitian, Latino, and other immigrant voters reported that translators were
banned from assisting them inside voting booths nationwide. Those who complained
    were threatened with illegal deportation.

In Miami, Virginia, and Florida, Republikkkans phoned black voters and urged them
to vote for Bush, while lying about being NAACP members.

State troopers illegally harassed and detained black voters outside booths in various
    municipal areas of Florida.

Racist Republikkkan postal workers discarded droves of NAACP election literature
at post offices nationwide (This is an actual felony for which they will never be
    prosecuted!).

NAACP and black college student voter drives were legendarily successful
nationwide. Yet, thousands of the voters they registered were mysteriously missing
from lists on election day. Why??? How???

2000 black students from Florida A & M University attempted to practice civil
disobedience and protest voter fraud/abuse at Florida’s state capitol.. They were
ignored for 22 hours before they peacefully departed in disgust.

Black voters in California endured roadblocks that delayed them until polls closed.

Black voters in Georgia and California reported waiting over five hours to vote.

Black voters in Missouri reported waiting over 6 hours before having poll doors
slammed in their faces. They were never allowed to vote.

Poll workers nationwide were specifically instructed to harass voters to counteract
    aggressive Black voter campaigns.

Black polling stations nationwide reported confusing ballots and failed machinery,
while white polling stations in the same cities reported using superior ballots and
    flawless machinery.

In Missouri, drivers transporting voters to polls were illegally detained and arrested
for failing to possess “taxi licenses”.

    Mr R:
"So tell me what should the Repubthugs do?Give her a free pass in order to pander to a race of people??

Remember Sonia Sotomayor is one of the least popular Supreme Court nominees .

The only way this hurts Repubthugs is if Sonia turns out to be more Conservative than anyone thinks. That happens few people are going to listen to Repubthugs next go around.
You even have people on the left questioning if she's telling the truth."

-I gather you don't like the Republican party either, if you call them the "Repubthugs". Is there a political party you like?

-They could be polite, and do their jobs. They may be doing the later, but they aren't doing the former.

-I'm curious what poll you're using. The only polls I've seen put her slightly above average for recent nominees.

-I think a lot of people that are presently opposed to her will be surprised. I hope I'm wrong, and she actually swings way out to the left end of the Court, but I think she'll be just to the left of Kennedy.

-I understand the frustration of that particular professor, but she's not in a classroom teaching legal theory or practice. She's in a political arena, and responding accordingly.

"...Don't just assume one unpopular nominee is going to sway millions of people to vote for Democrats."

Who said I was assuming? It's happening (although I'm talking about hundreds of thousands of votes, not millions). Mind you, dislike of the Republican party doesn't necessarily mean flipping a vote, but if this data is accurate, and it sticks, it may. And yes, we're talking about a fraction of 1% of the national vote - but as Hispanic populations are heavily concentrated in a few states, that's enough to make some competitive states non-competitive, and some non-competitive states competitive.

There aren't many ways that Republicans can be competitive in the near future nationally and loose significantly more of the Hispanic vote. Most of the ways I can think of are completely unrealistic.

They must be hoping for the Democratic party to screw up so badly that people will vote for any other party...

  135. When Sessions said that "this nation is much bigger than the Bronx or South Carolina", I wish he hadn't added the South Carolina part, because it's the first part that was a color and ethnicity-aroused slur and epithet.

Every good white person knows who lives in the Bronx! It's the Blacks and Latinos! This country is much bigger than the Blacks and Latinos!"

That's his real color-aroused fear. With the US Supreme Court 78% white male, he really does have something to worry about if the court becomes more representative of America. Justice might break out all over the place!
