Didn't Rahm Emanuel, the O man's right hand man, once say that you "never want a serious crisis go to waste"? Well, in lieu of that, what I want to know here and now is this: Why is Barack Hussein Obama forcing little white children to take flu shots? Why is this administration treating the upcoming flu season as if we should all get out our bibles and start reading from the book of Revelations?
"WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency, giving his health chief the power to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect noninfected patients.
The declaration, signed Friday night and announced Saturday, comes with the disease more prevalent than ever in the country and production delays undercutting the government's initial, optimistic estimates that as many as 120 million doses of the vaccine could be available by mid-October.
Health authorities say more than 1,000 people in the United States, including almost 100 children, have died from the strain of flu known as H1N1, and 46 states have widespread flu activity. So far only 11 million doses have gone out to health departments, doctor's offices and other providers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials..."
Yeah, but don't people die from the flu every year? I have never gotten a flu shot in my life, but some very smart people (including some on this blog) have been telling me that I should do it this year. Why? Have they all fallen prey to Obamamania as well?
Glen Beck says that it's probably all a move by the Communist, Obama, to gain control over the country and our minds. ( I thought he already had that.) He [Beck] says, in no uncertain terms, that he will not be getting the shots and his children won't either. Good for him. In fact, many of the right wing folks say that they won't be getting any shots this flu season. They just don't trust this Obama fellow. I guess they have been reading their black history books.
"As a nation, we have prepared at all levels of government, and as individuals and communities, taking unprecedented steps to counter the emerging pandemic,"
Mr. President how do we know that this is just not another power grab by you?
But field, what if the government is right and this really is a serious flu strain? What if people-especially children- die from it if they don't get their shots?
Well then I guess that would mean that many of the people who don't take it would die, and the folks who listened to their government would live....
....I love Glen Beck; he is a wise man.
Before I go, I forgot to ask Ms. Cleo something else last night: Why are janitors killing Priests in North Jersey? I know living in Jersey can be rough but is it worth killing your priest over? I am just saying.

i am praying for us all!
I've already had 'flu once this year which quickly morphed to bronchitis and then pneumonia. As a school teacher, I'm exposed to any number of viruses every day, and often get 'flu shots as a precaution. I've not been able to get one this year, but plan to as soon as H1N1 is available.
ReplyDeleteIn talking to some public health folks a couple of weeks back, I was told it was the pneumonia that kills, especially pregnant women.
They also said the illness is expected to peak right around Thanksgiving.
you are aware there are no federally mandated flu vaccinations, correct? this emergency proclamation did not change that.
ReplyDeletecan't see this is a power grab in any way.
as a medical writer, i see this as a trial run for how federal public health agencies will respond to any type of terrorism related biological attack. i'm pretty sure the government is, too.
of course, he could always do nothing and then evil windbags will claim he's "dithering."
either way, someone is always going to be pissed off with the man.
This whole thing will be a classic clusterfuck, the reason being that there is a shortage of vaccine. My doctor told me last week that sufficient vaccine isn't going to reach WA State until December, which is well after the peak is expected.
ReplyDeleteGlenn Beck's not going to be vaccinated. Hey, if La Idiot doesn't get vaccinated (for the same reason as Beck: white devil plot), and it's just as bad as the Spanish Flu of 1918, will that count as a two-fer?
Grinder why don't you give it a fucking rest already, what's up with the childish bs? you're not funny! you always try and cause trouble on the blog and can't take the heat when it comes down on you. get a fucking life with your racist ass.
ReplyDeleteParanoia will destroy ya. Anonymous ironically their is nothing Anonymous about your M.O.. Either change your tampon or wait your turn to make unwarranted racist comments.
ReplyDeleteI'm anon 12.06, sorry FN, I'm just sick of all the stupid fighting on this blog. my younger sister has MS and the doctors told her boyfriend not to give her the swine shot because of her immune system being low. if you have MS or a poor immune system like HIV/AIDS it's even more risky to take the shot. damn you do damn you don't. lots of vitamin C, water, hands washing and plenty exercise is your best bet.
ReplyDeletewrong sucker I'm a man. done with this blog.
ReplyDeleteparanoia is often wisdom
ReplyDeletebetter a 4 day flu than a permanent death
Field, I'm sincerely confused.
ReplyDeleteDon't you understand that some people get sick and die from flu, and that some pretty conscientious doctors have recommended shots to help prevent that?
I don't see the race/Glen Beck angle in this at all. No way.
My mind boggles.
I'm just sick of all the stupid fighting on this blog. my younger sister has MS and the doctors told her boyfriend not to give her the swine shot because of her immune system being low. if you have MS or a poor immune system like HIV/AIDS it's even more risky to take the shot.
ReplyDeleteI have MS and get my care at one of the world-leading places, and they are telling us to get the vaccine. Even though there is a shortage, I am going to be eligible to get vaccinated before the general public does.
People with MS don't have weak immune systems in the way that HIV patients do. MS patients have immune systems that are poorly controlled, and there is a big difference.
MS is the result of your immune system's attack on your own nerves. Often times, the problem in MS is that someone's immune system is too strong, not too weak. Or it doesn't know what to attack.
If I were you, I'd advise your younger sister to get a second opinion.
Anon @ 12:20
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your sister the best; the situation sounds hard every way.
The blog can be disheartening. Please know that many of us are at your side. That many not make you feel better about the fighting, but at least you'll know you're not alone.
Field,
ReplyDeleteFor most folk, this will and should be a matter of personal preference. But the idiots on the right are making the decision as a political statement.
One of the reasons the President is doing this is to allow hospitals, etc, the ability to set up areas away from ER to specifically deal with the flu with as little risk to the other folk who are entering an acute care facility. It being a dry run for some potential bio-warfare does make some sense.
Per the CDC, there have already been 100 pediatric deaths alone, so far, from H1N1,and the incidence is higher than the usual seasonal flu. Don't know the actual numbers for previous years.
I have never gotten the flu and have never had a flu shot. I don't think I will this year either. Problem is, for the first time that I know of, most hospitals, including mine, are requiring it, or wear a mask for the four months of the season, whenever in patient care areas. Guess I'm going to be masked up.
Paranoia is often healthy. Some are talking about the risks being minimal. But, as I often tell patients when talking about surgical risks, even if the risk is 1%, if you are that one, it 100% for you.
Bottom line, it's up to the individual. But the decision shouldn't be a political one either way--the President's declaration, or the right's posturing notwithstanding.
Field, why are you beating up on my man Charlie Rangel in your sidebar? Give the man a break, he's just trying to make an honest living.
ReplyDeleteCharlie is innocent, you'll see once this swine flu is over. :0
Why don't you go after Rev Manning? Now he belongs in your sidebar as the biggest House Negro of all time. If I am not mistaken, he loves Chaney and hates Obama.
BTW, don't worry about that swine flu shot. It's the younger ones 24yrs and younger who need it the most. You just missed it by a few years. LOL
FN:
ReplyDeleteI am a loud voice against taking the swine flu vaccine because I don't think its been out long enough and we don't know the long term risks associated with it. Since vaccine manufacturers have blanket immunity from lawsuits, if one suffers injury from the vaccines, one has no recourse if they are adversely affected by a vaccine.
Someone on a previous thread mentioned the federal vaccine injury fund, but failed to mention that its funding has been dwindling over the years and that many children who developed autism subsequent to receiving vaccines were denied compensation under the fund because Big Pharma studies say there's no link... Without debating the safety or efficacy of vaccines in general, I don't take medications unless they've been on the market for about twenty years or so. This is because we at least have an idea of possible long term effects etc.
There are pandemics in our very faces that the government has not declared national emergencies over. I feel as though all of this is a power grab by large corporations who want to take away our rights and turn us into corporate slaves. Sadly I believe honestly that our President is in cahoots with these criminals, as all of our Presidents have been since I've been alive.
My personal motto is better to be safe than sorry.
ReplyDeletePneumonia seems to be the leading killer, so please folks, don't wait for the swine flu shot, get your pneumovax as 1/3 of swine flu deaths would be curtailed if everyone got them.
I have asthma, exercise induced mainly, but being asthmatic nonetheless, and my little ones too, I am getting them flu shots, including swine flu, just in case.
Like a previous poster said, I'd rather deal with 4 days of illness or even a week, and keep it pushing than to screw around and push daisies.
Make sure to wash hands for 20 seconds and don't be afraid to be "rude" If someone is not being hygienic around you, get up.
I did that earlier in the year at the gym, this lady was coughing up a storm, I got up and went to the other weights. I don't gamble like that...
As for this, it's not so much that it's special, it's just that it's throwing curve balls. Young adults are dying, and more kids are dying, in addition to the elderly. It's just more vitriolic I guess...
I found it interesting that we've had swine flu before in 1976.
I'm not one to care about the health of the little white children as too many of the black children do not have adequate health care access. Since my kids do not go to public school and are taught proper health and hygiene practices, I've opted not to vaccinate them. They can't legally force me to do so. I believe these type of flu shots have thiemersol. How is any amount of mercury good for adults, let alone children? Society at large didn't care about Tuskegee and like incidences against our people so sorry if I don't join the Glen Beck panic now.
ReplyDeleteInteresting comments,asI said after my last post,I am confused as to what to do.I don't usually get sick during flu season but I don't know how rough this flu season will be.
ReplyDeleteWow folks give it a rest, simple hygiene practices, along with a heathly diet ought to keep you flu free.Maybe we need to turn off that idiot box and pickup a book or two?
ReplyDeletebigmac, i don't considering listening the the CDC an idiot box. i have no idea what's being said on tv but i don't think any of the posters here are quoting from fox news.
ReplyDeletethis flu is different and a healthy diet has never kept anyone from getting the flu. handwashing, yes, VIP.
doc L--very curious about your position. (and thanks for supporting my bio-attack theory, which as far as i know, the media have not covered).
why aren't you going to get a flu shot?
and i heard that some hospitals are terminating workers who refuse. i thought it was pretty well prove that masks are not efficient at halting the spread of viruses...
Thank you Doc L, keep holding it down in the the ER for us field Negroes. Maria, thanks for your insights as well. I know that you are a medical writer and you have some strong opinions about this stuff.
ReplyDeleteM.Rigmaiden rally has me thinking with this issue about not being able to sue the company that created the vaccine and its possible side effects.
"Field, why are you beating up on my man Charlie Rangel in your sidebar? Give the man a break, he's just trying to make an honest living."
Sorry Anon. he might be a good man, but he exhibited some HN traits with that little tax issue. :)
Anon 12:20 AM, I hope that your younger sister will be alright. Anon. 1:07 AM, I hope that you keep fighting the good fight against MS as well.
As matw said, we all have your back here.
This blog acan be a tough place, but if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. :)
"I found it interesting that we've had swine flu before in 1976."
Seattle Slim, what happened? You have to hang with me on this, I wasn't born yet......let me stop. :)
Maria,I never mention the channel and won't now but news in general I was speaking of.I'm not saying not to be informed but learn to separate what is needed and what should be discarded.I'm sorry for not being clear in the first post.
ReplyDeletehi, big, sorry, you are right i just figure fox is the box of most misinformation.
ReplyDeletefield. i'm not sure i've expressed any opinions on this thread and am supposed to be trained not to--but i am now. i don't plan to get the shot. and my kids probably won't either.
i am old enough to have lived thru the first swine flu (graduated from high school in `76!) and have read i may already have immunity, so people my age are not in a high-risk group.
my neighbor's 4 kids ALL just had it. presumed swine. they all recovered in 4 days except the youngest, who needed antibiotics because it turned into a sinus infection.
there's a global inequity going on here, too--surely people know that. or maybe they don't. rich nations like the US are getting more than their share of the vaccine, while we are least likely to die from it compared to developing nations. this is a real concern. it's a GLOBAL pandemic (i'm being redundant for emphasis) not something that is just affecting the US.
anyway, i'm off to the gym to keep up MY immunity!
I just want to say that you can be healthy and still get the flu. Now you might not get as sick. My immune system can be an enemy at times especially when tree and grass pollen season rolls around because it overacts to these foreign bodies. With asthma I tend to get with more colds because some bastard at my job did stay home when he was sick and spreading the virus by sneeing and coughing into hands and touching everything.
ReplyDeleteWhen I did get the flu, luckily my fever broke within 24 hours. However, I did have a cough for two weeks because of my asthma and grass season. I do healthy and a balance of protein, fat, and carb. People have to remember that your diet should consist of fat being 30% of your calories because you need that fat to absorb the vitamins. I am not a vitamin supplement taker because I eat enough food containing vitamin, but if I do not eat enough food packed with vitamins, then I will take a vitamin especially calcium if I do drink any milk or eat cheese.
As for the flu vaccine, each year a new flu vaccine is developed because a different strain of flu develops a each. Viruses mutante, they smart bastards and they will change on you so we need to develop new vaccines as well. There are at least 25 five different flu strains.
hey folks,
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to do their due dilligence as to whether to take these vaccines, but it is impossible to do that from just hearing the same hysteria repeated ad nauseum on the msm.
The swine flu vaccine from 1976 killed more people than the actual flu did, so ask yourself have they gotten religion (or science) since then? Or are there ulterior motives at play? It isnt about being anti-science and medicine, but there is always an implicit underlying social agenda that steers the application of these innovations that are not discernible from a cursory glance.
Bertrand Russsels quote from 1953 that ...
". . Diet, injections, and
injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort
of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider
desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become
psychologically impossible."
was not an idle barroom boast.

What worries me is that enough folks will not get vaccinated and the H1N1 will spread faster and to more people.

ReplyDeleteH1N1 is the same virus type that caused the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918-1919. It killed 3% of the world's population, or about 50 million people at the time, more than died in World War I.
ReplyDeleteToday, 3% of the world's population would be more than 200 million people. Because the world's population is more urbanized than it was 90 years ago, and because cities are much larger and more crowded, we could expect that if the current H1N1 is as virulent as the Spanish Flu, more than 3% of the unvaccinated population would die.
But hey, if you don't want the vaccine, fine. Join Glenn Beck, alan, M. Rigmaiden, SmashedtheTinyBlackBox (and, unfortunately for them, STBB's luckless chldren), and (hopefully) La Idiot in the group who refuses it. I think the term is "natural selection." Go, virus, go!
Field;
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in knowing the demographics of the babies that are dying of this flu and if they had had an emergency room visit prior to their death.
My 4 year old grandson recently had and has recovered from what I believed was the flu. I don’t know if I am going to have him vaccinated now.
However, I took him to the ER of the children’s hospital in Memphis and literally had to have a combatant exchange with the doctor before she ordered a blood draw and gave him fluids via IV. With his history of vomiting over a three day period, high fever, rash from the high fever, not wanting to eat or drink, coughing –the white female ER doctor was trying to send me home - telling me to get over-the-counter medication to treat his symptoms and just let him lay in a corner and be miserable until whatever took its course. She advocated to me that the FDA did not recommend prescribing drugs to children under six, how she did not want to cause unnecessary pain by sticking him to test his blood, and that testing for the flu would be useless and would likely be negative but when sent off come back positive ( WTF).
After that, she attempted to dismiss us by saying she was the doctor. I then told her that I may not be a doctor but I am a lawyer and it makes no sense to claim you don’t want to test his blood to better understand what is occurring within him because of causing unnecessary pain to him but will send him home in pain or proscribed medication to treat his condition but tell me to go buy over-the –counter medication. Within seconds of her flying out of the room someone came in to draw his blood and shortly after that someone came and started an IV saying he was “a little “ dehydrated.
He started feeling better becoming more active and by the next day was slowly beginning to eat and drink again. Folk, if you end-up in an emergency room don’t let these folks turn you away better understanding what is going on in your body because for some reason, they are trying not to diagnose the flu.
dang, grinder--even when we agree your meanspirited attitude annoys the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing the public health care workers told me--as of October 11 there had been 100 cases of H1N1 diagnosed in pregnant women in the US and 28 of them had died, primarily of pneumonia. A midwife friend of mine verified this a week or so later when I expressed doubt as to the large numbers.
Grinder, your comment is nasty and filled with the hysterical bs that Big Pharma wants you to succumb to. The flu pandemic of the last century killed many people because their immune systems went into overdrive and effectively killed them with a cytokine response overload. It turns out that vitamin D regulates the cytokine response in humans and also grants a myriad of protection against diseases. It is so interesting how all of you look to history for oppression of Black people but somehow have cognitive disconnect when a pharmaceutical company wants to use you as guinea pigs. In the end, time will tell who is right. In the meantime, take some vitamin D3 supplements.
ReplyDeleteYeah FN, while you marinate on the fact that you cannot sue a big pharmaceutical company in federal court, consider that your boy Clarence Thomas joined the liberals earlier this year when he agreed that these federal exclusions do not abrogate a private right of action filed in state court against these drug manufacturers. Good on him!
ReplyDeleteM. Rigmaiden, I have Vitamin D already. 5000 IUs 3x a week. Hopefully it will tide me over until December when the vaccine will be available in Seattle.
ReplyDeleteAs for my "mean spiritedness," Race Traitoress, I haven't noticed you calling out La Idiot, et al, for their outrageous and thoroughly offensive behavior toward me in the past. So you, she, and the others will simply have to put up with my "mean spiritedness" toward La Idiot.
Let's lighten up everyone. It is not necessary for you to take the flu shot. If you take a walk for an hour in the sunshine, you will get your source of Vitamin D or eat a can of sardines. If you are going to take the flu shot, make sure you wash your hands. I have been taking a flu shot for years, and it is relative safe. No one is making anyone take the shot, but remember it is not funn having the flu. In fact, many people probably already had the flu and it was a bad cold, so you possibly already have the anti-bodies for H1N1 anyway. Sometimes it is not always a bad thing to get sick so that your immune system can develop anti-bodies to fight off bacteria and viruses. If I get a cold, it will last for 2 to 3 days versus a person who has not a cold in years and it will last a week. When you get sick doctors will tell you take vitamins and drink fluids not to cure or make feel better, but so you are not dehydrated and depleted of vitamins. You are drained of vitamins while you are sick and you need to replace them. And for goodness sake if you have the flu, please stay at home particularly so adament about taking the shot.
ReplyDeletestop calling her la idiot.
ReplyDeletestop calling her la idiot.
ReplyDeleteNope. It's exactly what she is. If she can't take it, then she shouldn't dish it out.
Maria,
ReplyDeleteHad not the medical profession and essentially all the area hospitals--at least here in SoCal, changed the directive this year with the H1N1, I would not even consider getting the vaccine. As a Urologist,I don't get as much direct contact with the high risk patients. But I'm still the hospital, so exposed. Guess I have a pretty good immune system, as I have never had the flu,nor a flu shot.
I have a 3yr old and 15mo old. Our Pediatrician, who is an old-fashioned kind of guy is not a fan of the flu vaccines, and hasn't recommended it, for some of the same reasons already cited here. He's concerned however about the incidence of peds patients though, so has relaxed his stance some.
He has recommended the Vit D regimen, so that's what my house has been doing. And there was an NPR report a couple of days ago commenting about how fast this vaccine has been produced. And recently a wrong batch of vaccines was distributed.
So, there is ample reason not to get one. But I don't condemn those who do. And will not accept condemnation on my choice. At least for now, just call me a masked man.
FN Tell your babies to grow up.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly has let the financial crisis go to waste however.

never had the flu shot and will not in the future. nor my children. dont trust the nonactive addictives they add. didnt take prenatals pills either. those pills get bigger and bigger every year. ate well and took care of my body. my girls are very healthy.
ReplyDeleteOn your sidebar.... Field Negro of the Day.... I agree, that is a lovely picture of the first family!

ReplyDeleteIf people are taking public transportation step to these nasty mofos out here coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths. Stop shaking hands with strangers and then digging up your nose.
Also, I think it's a last minute money grab by pharma.
My household just had influenza A (which is being assumed to be H1N1 because my state isn't subtesting anymore - if it comes back as flu A, they're assuming it's H1N1 now). 3 out of 4 people got it. For 2 of the 4 people, the kids, it was fever for a few days, congestion and cough. Mild headache a couple times, and a few chills. For the other adult in the household, it's been similar but with body aches as well. The remaining adult, me, has not had anything beyond a minor sore throat and mild congestion. I would note that the children and I have been taking cod liver oil (AKA vit D and A) and vit C supplements since school started last month, and using an antiviral oil blend. As the only person who didn't come down with the flu, I also was taking raw garlic cloves twice a day, 1 Tbsp honey in hot tea a day, and doing saline nasal rinses daily. Our bout of flu A has thus far been less problematic than some colds we've had, and definitely not as bad as a stomach bug. I understand that this is not the case for everyone, I jsut wish people would look into safe alternative ways to boost immune systems before using vaccines.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my state was the state that was mandating flu vaccines for all health workers, *until* recent news leaked of the health commisioner's wife being tied with Goldman Sachs, the firm that brokered a deal for MedImmune, a manufacturer of...you guessed it....flu vaccines.

I got the swine flu vaccine already because of all the hysteria. If I knew then what the cons are, I probably wouldn't have done it. The flu shot doesn't scare me, I always get it every year, but not this year I don't want to mix the two in my system. My advise: check out the effects {if any} for taking both shots in the same year. My brother is a pharmacist and let me tell ya, he's against the swine flu vaccine. He's had it with people asking for advice too. Do the research, look at the pros and the cons for yourself, It's a personal decision. There's no wrong or right answer.

CORRECTION!!! H1N1 is absolutely NOT the same virus of the 1918-1919flu pandemic!!!!!!!It's a genetic combination of many other flu viruses including the one from the 1918 pandemic. Unfortunately, many of the virulence factors that made the 1918 flu virus so deadly, were acquired by H1N1.
Facts people, facts, stick with facts as as not to cause widespread panic!

ReplyDeleteI got that from the Wikipedia entry on the Spanish flu.
"The 1918 flu pandemic (commonly referred to as the Spanish Flu) was an influenza pandemic that spread to nearly every part of the world. It was caused by an unusually virulent and deadly influenza A virus strain of subtype H1N1."
Wikipedia? Are you serious, LOL???

I think the Doc's testimony and FlyNmy40's have made the most sense here. Given that medicine has provided wonderful advances for humanity, I am not one to vilify medicine. However, given the profit driven motive that has taken the field over, I question just about everything I read with respect to the 'necessity' of taking specific drugs. Humanity has lived for thousands of years without a lot of these medicines.
ReplyDeleteA paradigm shift from last century is occurring between doctors and patients. Patients now are empowered by the information age and can question doctors, with good reason, in addition to having a dialog about their care.
If any of you look up FAST TRACKING drugs through the FDA, you will be appalled. This is what they've done with the swine flu vaccine. In effect, we are all guinea pigs.
Grinder, the sources you've cited simply say that it is a hypothesis that the current so called swine flu was genetically related to the pandemic flu of 1918. Hell, I can do a phylogenetic tree showing how I am related to a donkey but that doesn't mean much;)
ReplyDeleteOk, so if we take the vaccine we're gonna die of mercury poisoning and if we don't take it, we're going to die of a nasty form of the flu. Wow, and I thought my day started out crappy as is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Obama is screwed no matter which way he turns. Which begs the political question -- be the president who fast tracked a virtually untested vaccine into the market and cause a spike in Autism or be the President that oversaw the death of thousands for the sake of safe politics?
Tough call. Personally, I say get the flu shot distributed and roll the dice. Its better than causing the modern Black Plague.
Ok, so if we take the vaccine we're gonna die of mercury poisoning
ReplyDeleteIf you are scared of mercury (in infinetismal amounts), then get the single-dose vaccine, which is not preserved with mercury.
Grinder, I took my single dose vaccine this year -- no Hg in this FN.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think our politicians are caught in a catch-22 with the H1N1 vaccination issue -- do something and risk the possibility or death or do nothing and risk the possibility of death.
obama's girls will not be taking this flu shot
ReplyDeletei am certain he and michelle will not either
works for me

FILLED NEGRO.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are on the same wavelength man.
I recorded the statement by Louis Farrakhan in which he panned the current craze over the swine flu.
I uploaded it to my video site but did not blog about it.
Who would have guessed that it would come in handy as I compared the WORDS OF GLENN BECK against the words of LOUIS FARRAKHAN and then see if you would attack ole "Calypso Louie", as my man Rush Limbaugh calls him.
Have at it Filled Negro.
Let's see if you have any intellectual consistency within you:

When I read the title of the article, I immediately knew the young girl was overweight.
Between obesity and the hormones in food, I think this type of thing will be a lot more common unfortunately.
The culture of fear...
ReplyDeleteThat's what keeps everything going in our country..
I've been a registered nurse for over 25 years; raised 3 of my 5 daughters, (2 are still minors)- I've never received a flu shot and only recall 1-2 times of suffering from mild symptoms.
I practice what I've always done...good handwashing!
Don't be fooled by the hype. Seasonal flu and H1N1 are not the only illnesses out there that can make you ill and/or lead to death.
That being said, many people only respond to fear. So this level of hysteria may be needed by them.
I hope years later Pres. Obama won't regret backing something like this, or creating the state of emergency. Ironically, the gibberish about 'health care and/or reform' has been almost been silenced by the numerous amount of people that want/need these vaccines....hmmmm
fly
ReplyDeleteonly one kid looks chubby
the bf named taylor is very skinny
i know her personally...
i know obesity is a risk
but many think women with A cups get breast cancer too
i am just shocked that so many children so young and of all sizes are suddenly getting this formerly adult disease!
oops
ReplyDeletei meant many thin women
breast cancer seems to suddenly be ravaging children of all body types
and now that so many young boys are obese they may be next...
it is just scary!
last time I had the flu(six years ago) I seriously thought i might die. Felt so bad I was sort of hoping I might. I have had flu shots ever since and have not been sick. The injections contain no active strains. I mean, do what you think best, but if i ever find myself on the same side of an issue as Glenn"Asswipe" Beck, I am switchin' sides NOW.
ReplyDelete
Rush is your man? Wow!
ReplyDeleteFilled Negro:
In 2009 The Swine Flu will have killed FEWER NEGROES in America than will have the "Killer Street Pirates".
Rush Limbaugh has killed even fewer Negroes than the Swine Flu.
YET you hate Rush Limbaugh even though the various Hip Hop Artists who ALSO make use of a microphone so frequently threaten to KILL A BLACK MAN WHO DISSES THEM........just as what so frequently occurs on the streets.
Why do you believe Rush Limbaugh's microphone to be SUPERIOR to the mics that these others speak into? Why are these others INFERIOR of a threat to you DESPITE the facts on the street?
Woman Shot And Killed Early Morning In South Dekalb
http://www.ajc.com/news/dekalb/woman-shot-and-killed-174889.html
When you hear the labels "South Dekalb","Southwest Atlanta", "Vine City"......you know from historical experience that this is a BLACK PERSON who has been murdered.
You also learn that THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS over the heinous murder only because the KILLER is not exploitable in the scheme that people like YOU are running.
Just another Negro who got herself kilt.
I have been a little under the weather. NOT the flu. NOT the flu. :-) But, anyway, needing some relief, I thought, let me stop by Field Negro. He'll either tell me about something that ticks me off so much my blood flows better or he'll put a spin on something and make it so funny my health will improve all around. It's a win win. Thank you. Your satire is always worth a visit. Laughter is healing.
ReplyDeleteHey field, I haven't been commenting lately but I have been reading occasionally.
ReplyDeleteI gather you're in your 30s or 40s, and otherwise healthy. That means you do not rate priority access to the H1N1 vaccine. Here in central Virginia they're not even jabbing all the doctors in the hospitals, just the front-liners. (Your kids, if any, are another story....)
There's a lot of BS out there about the vaccine:
1) forget the crap about it being "new and untested" -- it was made with the same process as any other flu vaccine, which is why we're short of it -- that process is SLOW, and they couldn't even get started until they had samples of the proper strain. (At this point, the docs are all holding their breath and hoping the bug hasn't mutated too far!)
2) Mercury -- the traces of mercury in the vaccine are, bluntly, not a problem. Besides being a minuscule amount, it's in a form that's not easily absorbed by humans. Really, if you're worried about mercury, you're better off cutting back on fish.
3) Tuskegee -- bluntly, if the gov't wanted to fuck with you guys on this, they wouldn't let you have the vaccine. (Of course, that would be shooting themselves in the balls -- see #4 -- but what else is new?)
4) Herd immunity: Like all vaccines, this one won't "take" for everyone. That means even if you've gotten it, the more people around you who are also vaccinated, the safer you are. The current business of prioritizing is a desperate response to the shortage -- to protect the nation properly, they really want everyone vaccinated, and as stocks build up, they'll be trying to cover everyone they can reach. At that point, the holdouts will become a menace to their neighbors, like the folks refusing childhood vaccinations already are.
5) Vaccine responses -- unless you're immune-compromised, the brief illness you might get from the vaccine will definitely be safer than getting hit with the real thing. Even ordinary flu can kill, and this is going to be worse.
