"Men Behaving Badly."

I am bugging out about a few things tonight. The first is this commercial that Focus On The Family paid to have aired during the Super Bowl. The frauds over at CBS actually allowed Tim Tebow to appear in a commercial to pitch pro-life propaganda. (Memo to Tim; work on your damn game and stop trying to preach to me. If your body can't produce a child I don't want to hear shit that you have to say about abortion. Period. And that goes for every other man in A-merry-ca.) Now where was I? Oh yes, CBS. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. It's the damn Super Bowl! I want to see athletes get their game on. I don't need to get preached to from someone standing on a holier than thou soap box. And besides, didn't they tell a a church group who wanted to embrace Gays no to an ad. a few years back?

"I know some people won't agree with it," said Tebow of the 30-second ad at a press conference in Mobile, Ala., on Sunday, in preparation for next weekend's Senior Bowl. "But I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe. I've always been very convicted of [his views on abortion] because that's the reason I'm here, because my mom was a very courageous woman."

I do respect what you stand for, Tim. But I need you to respect what I stand for as well. So why should I have to hear what you stand for while I try to watch the damn game?

The second is the behavior of one of the supremes last night. This Alito character did his best Joe Wilson imitation while his O ness was giving his address. "Not true" he mouthed for all the world to see. "JUSTICE OPENLY DISAGREES WITH OBAMA IN SPEECH" the headlines scream. Hey, we know that at least four members of the supremes are right wing partisan hacks, but these guys are supposed to have the poker faces going at all times. I guess that sometimes it's just too hard to hide your disdain for a certain uppity beige fellow. Next time, Sam, could you at least cover your mouth?

And finally, I have to talk about my home boy Chris Matthews. Seems that poor Chris forgot that his O ness was black last night for an entire hour. And now the poor guy is getting ripped for it. -Even Rush Limbaugh is making fun of him.-

"I was trying to think about who he was tonight. It's interesting: he is post-racial, by all appearances. I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country, and passed so much history, in just a year or two. I mean, it's something we don't even think about. I was watching, I said, wait a minute, he's an African-American guy in front of a bunch of other white people. And here he is president of the United States and we've completely forgotten that tonight.. "

*Wait, still laughing.* OK yeah that would explain a lot. Thanks Chris. Hey at least you forgot that the guy was black for whole hour. -I bet Samuel Alito didn't forget.....*wait, still laughing* And Chris, you are not alone. Back in November of 2008, about sixty million people forgot he was black as well. The thing is, I think they forgot for more than an hour. But don't worry, I think that they are starting to remember. *Still laughing*.

Hey Field I guess the US is not pos racial if after the presidents State of the Union Matthews is talking about whether he noticed the presidents color or not. That kills Grinders argument that the rest of the country has not moved on at all.

  3. Here is the thing that drives me crazy about these anti-choicers... they love to extoll the CHOICE they made, but seem unable to see that is what it was.... a CHOICE! Those of us who are pro-choice are happy for them and any and every other woman who makes the choice to give birth. (I did, twice)... but we also recognize that CHOICE is not the right thing for everyone... thus we want to insure that CHOICE for everyone, gah!!!!

As for Alito, what kind of crappy judge is he? Every judge I have ever been in front of has the best poker faces of anyone I have ever met. I was in a courtroom where the witness on the stand was retelling the most tragic, sad story of gun violence... everyone in the courtroom (including the court staff) were in tears, some openly sobbing... but the Judge never changed expression.... I was awe struck by her ability to do that.... Alito is a Supreme for pete's sake.. one would have thought he would have mastered that skill by now.

Man, you really are having an adverse reaction. You need to step off of your holier than thou soapbox and quit playing God yourself. You don't know whether it's right to kill a fetus or not anymore than anyone else.

It is 'traditional' to air commercials in the Superbowl, if you can afford it. It's one the highest rated programs for "reach" that a commercial can be in. And you are blaming CBS for airing a commercial with T

What's the big deal? Sounds like this abortion thing and its moral implications are rattling your conscience, causing great pain. What's that all about?

"If your body can't produce a child I don't want to hear shit that you have to say about abortion."

Would Palin or some other woman for pro-life in the commercial make a difference for you?

You sound like you are on a 'holier than thou soapbox' yourself.

  5. Would Palin or some other woman for pro-life in the commercial make a difference for you?

palin? you mean--ala jody--"pro choice palin?" palin and her daughter were on the cover of intouch mag, under the hedline, "we're so glad we chose life!"

and here's the other thing: focus on the family, which is paying over $1 million for the ad, on is website is also asking for $$ for haiti. perhaps that $1.2 million could go to haiti?

or, since 45% of the haitian population is children and now a large % are orphans, they could stop their campaigns against birth control that led to over-population?

oh, don't even get me started (eg, tebow bible-thumping in the philippines with those "heathen" catholics!")

if you don't want to see the ad, sign the petition:

    https://secure.prochoiceamerica.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=4143

i've seen snippets already. his mom sits there demeaning the unnamed doc (who isn't there to defend himself or explain what he meant) who allegedly told her baby tim was "just a mass of fetal tissue" and then concludes, gosh! you, too, could have a child like tim!

I'm going to Chris Matthews a pass...I think the man didn't mean any harm...As for Alito he is a Republican hack why do you expect him to be civil..." I'm shocked he did not scream "Damn Dirty Negro how dare you question my Authority Republicans don't know the word civil...Peace Out...Field

  7. Tebow bought the time to express his view that abortion is wrong. You don't like the commercial because you don't like his point of view, namely that killing babies in the womb is morally wrong. I'm always amazed at just how blithely people breeze by the issue without even a pause to think about it. Abortion means killing a child in the womb. Its done by the millions around the country. Its a grotesque reality that we seem to have become to comfortable with. I think people are so negative towards the ad because we do know its wrong and we don't like Tebow rubbing our faces in it. Strikes a nerve.

As for the Supremes, hey its a free country. The President decides to use his bully pulpit to criticize the Justices (not that gently either) in their face, in a forum where they don't get to say anything. I don't like the Court's ruling myself, but I'm not gonna fault Alito for silently mouthing a rebuttal. He's part of a co-equal branch of government, he comes to hear the President give the State of the Union, not to get rhetorically punked.

Matthews deserves to be ripped. He's a tool and says some of the dumbest stuff. I've no sympathy.

As to thinking about it... I have given birth, twice and I have had an abortion (after the birth of my 2 sons)... and I am here to tell you 1.I have no regrets, it was the right decision for me 2.I have never felt like I "murdered anyone." Rather you like it or not, Abortion is legal in this and other countries... I can assure you, it is not an easy choice, but I have always been profoundly grateful I had the CHOICE.

Jody and Maria, please read below. Maybe it will stir something in your mind and hearts. Then again, maybe not:

Amicus brief filed in the cases of Loce v. New Jersey and Krail et al. v. New Jersey, February 1994

"America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign."

Jody, you might not have any psychic scars or disturbed conscience behind an abortion but there are many reports of women who do. The internal results 'can be' very similar to the effects of killing others in a war: it 'can' cause emotional and pyschological damage.

I find it interesting that you are against war because it is killing but you have no problem with abortions.

Could it be that you are so self-centered that you want what you want for your own convenience, at any cost?

    Love,

I forget what group it is, but there is one that is making a deal with CBS to put out a gay dating service ad during the super bowl. Mancrunch.com or something like that. Anyway, it seems that this year superbowl ads are a hard sell.

As for Alito, he toasted with a martini the night the activist judges gave Bush his presidency, I'm can not doubt he did it again the other week with their latest decision. He's a corporatist judge all the way.

I liked Tweety the first time I saw him, but after closer examination I didn't need HDTV to help me see him more clearly.

  15. K... first, "Love"... please... there is nothing "loving" about your comments directed at me.... but I will answer your question..yep, it was all about me... It had nothing to do with 2 young sons who I was a single mother to... whose father decided he didn't want to be married anymore, so divorced me and left me to take care of them on my own... Or the fact that I was working 2 jobs and going to school full time to try to provide a better life for those 2 children. Yep, it was just because I was thinking about me.

As to those with psychic scars.. yes there are and the same research has shown that those that experience those scars are because they were preassured into making that decision by others... parents, a boyfriend or husband. It was, in a sense, not HER choice.

K... I want to live in a world where every child is welcomed by not just the parents, but the community. I want to live in a world where abortions are few and far between.. but I have walked in the shoes of struggle, and I would not DARE to tell another woman what she should or should not do, and I sure as hell would not judge her after....

I, unlike you, fundamentally do not believe that abortion is murder. That is why I can be against wars and still be pro-choice. I have lived through it, and in my heart of hearts, am at peace with my choice.

That's what the struggle in consciousness-regarding abortion- is about isn't it? Whether a fetus has a right to life or whether abortion is murder or not? Well, war is legal, which makes the killing legal. So what's the difference? Both abortions and wars exist because some people have justifying reasons to kill without a conscience.

War is always due to somebody's self-righteous justification to kill. That kind of reasoning sounds very much like the same reason for abortions, except abortion is couched in ego-centric self-pity.

And don't you tell me that I don't love you. Everybody loves you. Hell, I even love CF, so why wouldn't I love you?

The main problem with this entire issue is determining the exact point when the "tissue of a potential life" actually becomes a fetus deserving of the protections afforded to human beings in general. Laws are on the books charging those who murder pregnant women with TWO counts - that of the mother and the unborn child. And only the most unscrupulous are willing to perform seriously late-term abortions. And those who do choose to do the abortion themselves often find themselves locked up. Pretty weird how it all works.

Three problems here with your ad feminam attack.

    1. No abortions in my past to feel guilty about (and probably not in my future, though it's technically possible) and no reason to feel guilty if there were

    2. Other people's opinions do have a lot of power, and have been used to subjugate and oppress since the dawn of humanity. It's not safe to ignore the demagogues; they take every opportunity to push their beliefs onto everyone else.

    3. What's up with this fallacious reasoning that says "if I defend a woman's right to an abortion it must be because I've had abortions"? Or "if I acknowledge the shameful history of "white" people of European ancestry I must want to be black"? And when I defend gay people I must be gay. What about just sticking up for other people? If you only offer support for the group with which you identify, then you're still just promoting your own selfish interests.

For those who have ears to hear, hear this:

You are not your bodies. You're not flesh and blood, and bone; you're a spirit pretending to be flesh and bone.

It is, I'd admit, a pretty good illusion, but it's meant to be. You suppose to believe, for the purpose of self-creation, that you are flesh--at least for a time.

The soul is not flesh. The soul doesn't enter the body at the time of inception, but may wait for a time--at any time during the gestation period, or shortly after the body, we call a baby, leaves the womb.

The soul must connect at some point, or the child is stillborn.

The soul connects itself to the physical form, but it does not enter it. And for the life of the physical form, it surrounds the form, without becoming one with it.

Spirit and matter does not commingle, but is always kept separate one from the other.

An attraction, not unlike a magnet, is what keeps the two aligned. When you're faint, for any reason--an illness, or your equilibrium is out of sync--it's because this alignment is broken, and the soul moves out of phase with the physical.

An abortion can be spontaneous. The soul can decide at the last minute to connect to the physical or abandon it.

If it decides to abandon the physical for any reason, it still can, at a later time, decide to enter the realm of the physical by way of another physical form.

An aborted fetus is not the beginning and end of anything but a physical vehicle, which the soul uses to interact with physicality, and the material world.

Once connected, the soul becomes human, forgetting that it's a soul with a body, who decided to incarnate, and live life as a human be-ing.

I thought I'd give you a little peek into what you have chosen not to remember.

Not all who are born forget their origin. Many remember that they're souls with bodies. Most don't.

You can remember who you are, but then you'd have to shift your view of reality, and for many that's not a pleasant prospect.

I've told you what you already know to be true. This knowledge is not withheld from you.

Some will hear. Some will ridicule. And some will remember. I say these things for those who wish to remember. You will know if you've remembered, if what I've said resonates.

If it doesn't resonate, it's because you choose to remain asleep. And that's fine, too.

  43. If Planed Parenthood had an add, I'd think there would be many groups up in arms, because they automatically assume that organization promotes abortion. Especially since sex education and birth control are seen as an exponents of abortion. I constantly get the impression that those whose are proponents of right to life, could give a crap about murdered babies, their main concern is that women are having sex that is not controlled by their moral view and that pregnancy should be a punishment. Otherwise, why wouldn't they be doing everything they could to support women when they are pregnant and in prevention of unwanted pregnancy.

I also think if men want a say, they should be tracked down and made to pay, even put in jail. None of this boys will be boys crap. Women are not the moral arbiters of men.

Men need to sew it up.

Devona, I know a little about him. He grew up in Northeast Philly; Irish Catholic...anywhooo, swears he never even spoke to a black person until he went off to Holy Cross to College, and if you know anything about the Philly he grew up in, I am betting it's true. So take all of that for what it's worth. The guy drives me nuts, because I never quite know how to take him.

Mack, I respect your opinion. But again, I think the women have more of a stake in this discussion than we do. I have said this a million times and I will say it again: If men could give birth there would be drive-through abortion clinics.

"What's the big deal? Sounds like this abortion thing and its moral implications are rattling your conscience, causing great pain. What's that all about?"

Yeah, everytime I see a little monster on the street killing people whose mama had him at 16 while addcited to crack cocaine. Not to mention the fact that his daddy is doing life in Graterford. Yeah it causess me great pain...*give me a break*

I wonder when we are going to have Timothy McVeigh's mama telling us that if she had just aborted his ass all those people wouldn't have died in OK City? See where I am going with this?

    To paraphrase Van Zant..

You have no clue what it means to be terrified that your period is late, no clue what it means to have your body transform completely, no clue what happens when you give birth. no clue what it's like to know that no matter what he says now, the likelihood is very great that a some point that you will be abandoned with complete and total responibility for another human being for years to come. My uterus does not belong to the state, to a man, or to Focus on the Fucking Family.
I have no regrets about my abortion. i have no regrets about becoming a mother. I have never received a penny in child support, but now I can take care of my child responsibly. Why don't you use "you" in the singular sense. Since I think I was the only on discussing Planned Parenthood.

Using Margaret Sanger is introducing a Red Herring to distract from the facts of what Planned Parenthood actually does outside of abortion. Control is what you want, don't consider birth control, that is too much power for women to have. Black people are not going to disappear.

I hardly think the the percentage of black abortions is high as it is said. The only statistics I have seen is from those that have gotten public dollars. We don't know how many private abortions there are. It is just a statistic to present Black women are more sexual or irresponsible than other women; to reinforce a racial stereotype. It is also another device to shame Black people. This is a old as slavery.

  59.
Here is the thing that drives me crazy about these anti-choicers... they love to extoll the CHOICE they made, but seem unable to see that is what it was.... a CHOICE!
Jody - it is YOU who are the bigoted and intolerant one!!!

What I find it most ironic of the issue in aggregate is that some of the leadership from "Rock The Vote" are now leaders in the "Woman's Media Center".

"Rock The Vote" released the video telling women to NOT HAVE CASUAL SEX with a man who opposed the "government health care confiscation". Despite the massive problems with unwanted pregnancy, STD and HIV infections - they promote the notion that "casual sex is cool" AND that it should be used as a POLITICAL TOOL.

In disaggregating the act from the CONSEQUENCES - the Progressive-Fundamentalists are forced to promote the termination of the gestating baby inside of the womb as a necessary option.

You see Jody - you and others have as a NON-STARTER any notion that SOCIETY/CULTURE should regulate the FIRST FATAL CHOICE: to have sex in a relationship that was not able to deal with the key OUTCOMES that result from heterosexual-vaginal sex.

In your quest to tie a woman's freedom to have sex with WHO she wants, as frequently as she wants and REGARDLESS of the relationship she is in - you must (pervertedly) make the notion that her right to remove the "mass of tissue" that is growing inside of her body from its nutrition source as a edification of WOMAN'S RIGHTS!!!!

You focus on the WOMAN rather than the gift of life that is gestating inside of her. This must be demoted as a "mass of tissues" - despite the fact that no laboratory could create it.

Jody WHAT MUST YOU LOSE in the way of CONSCIOUSNESS FOR HUMANITY for you to advance your agenda?

(Note: Technically I am "pro-choice". I do not want the government to make the final decision on this matter. Instead this must be addressed CULTURALLY.

A people with the consciousness to value human beings will see the need to arrange themselves with bonds that allow them to advance collectively.

The same child that has been reduced to the reference of "A bun in the oven" by an unattached woman - is CELEBRATED by the man and woman who are in a relationship in which this "mass of tissue" is valued as the vessel by which the family name and HONOR is perpetuated into the future.)

and you're a man--so you get no say on abortion.

Maria - Do you notice how the question of the VALUE of the human being vacillates based upon the issue at hand?

You effectively told me to "mind my own business" - its your body. Point well taken. It is your body.

However as the pattern of disaggregating the actions done in the context of our human relationship from the OUTCOMES that we are seeking to achieve - you merely proclaim that these STATED GOALS are in fact NOT worth the personal limits and/or sacrifice that must be inculcated for many of these desired ends to be obtained.

The same people who obfuscate and say "You don't care one damned thing about the baby after it is born - why do you pretend to care about it NOW?" are the very same people who would do nearly everything to erect a CULTURE which worked to REGULATE the copulation from which these problems flow.

So many of our problems are rooted in the EXCHANGE OF BODY FLUID.
Some believe that the focus upon a prophylactic or clean hypodermic IS the fix. In truth they are nothing more than the tacit acknowledgment that the "equal human being" in question sometimes acts in a way that is destructive to his own life. THEY need to insert the government in the middle of the transaction.

OK, I gotta put my 2 cents worth in here, if for no other reason than to balance out the foaming-at-the-mouth anti-choice crowd. And CHOICE is the operative word: MY choice, not YOUR choice. Should anyone besides my doctor have a say in whether or not I have an appendectomy or gall bladder surgery? And before the foamers jump all over me, no, I've never had an abortion, but I HAVE given birth. I don't begrudge my child his life, but I would never force a woman to go through the process who hadn't had the option of deciding for herself if it was something she wanted to do. Ain't fun, folks. And that's just the giving birth process, let alone the terrifying responsibility of caring for that child--especially if you're on your own.

Note the FIRST WORDS OUT OF THE BORTHER'S MOUTH!!!!!

    1) Actress Kerry Washington in some straight to DVD movie - she gets pregnant by an "on again, off again male partner". She finds out she's pregnant and goes to TELL HIM ABOUT IT.

The FIRST WORDS out of the brother's mouth: ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP IT???????
"Yes she said.". They were both HAPPY.

    2) An independent Black film seen on Netflix. A poor, struggling Black family. The woman gets pregnant. Though they have 2 other kids - when the woman tells the Black man that she is pregnant:

FIRST WORDS FROM THE BROTHER: "This is WONDERFUL NEWS!!! An addition to our family!!!"

    ******************

Is it possible that the unintended consequence of your "quest for THE RIGHT to control your own body" you have actually GIVEN UP more than it is worth?

Same genetic material in both cases.
Only the CONTEXT AND PURPOSE that was derived from the RELATIONSHIP that the woman was in with her mate expressed the VALUE to turn the "lump of tissue" into a gestating human that is welcomed as an addition to the family.

How do you reconcile this stance?

(With all due respect) I wonder IF we later found that the discarded "mass of tissue" that had been discarded after the process in question had been diverted for LAB TESTING or for consumption by certain farm animals because as "tissue" they contained nutrients that were favorable to the growth of these animals - for some reason those of you who attempt to DISAGGREGATE this issue into its component parts (your rights) would have problems with the use of this mere "tissue".

I DO NOT SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT prosecuting anyone who does make such a fatal CHOICE. It is the RESPONSIBILITY of CIVIL SOCIETY, however to set the conditions by which humans are valued more than mere "living tissue" AND regulate the behavior of others by which they are devalued as such.

Your statement is 100% ABSTRACT THEORY.

It undercuts any notion that you might have expressed regarding the NEED FOR men to live up to their responsibility in their commitment to caring for their children.

The CONSEQUENCE for a "woman making a choice" for sex, as you say, without noting the consequences that SHE is left with as the brother man deposits his "genetic material" IS ALWAYS shouldered by HER.

ONLY CIVILIZED CULTURE can make the BROTHER MAN stand and deliver in kind.

Hathor - CAN WE BOTH AGREE - without prejudice to our positions on the subject that ON AVERAGE a child has a far better chance of being well balanced when his mother and the male who donated 1/2 of his genetic makeup are the primary ADULTS raising him/her?

For me I note the EXCEPTIONS and deal with them RESPECTFULLY.

For others 'THE RULE' is discriminatory and thus they seek to promote the "EXCEPTIONS" as commonplace. Too often the notions of government caretaking supplants the role that CULTURAL MANAGEMENT (or religion) once played.

    You're kidding right?

Sotomator is a woman who spent six years as a federal judge and more than a decade as an appellate court judge in New York. She has ruled on two high profile cases, one which ended the 1994 major league baseball strike and one which allowed The Wall Street Journal to publish the suicide note of former Clinton aide Vince Foster.

Neither Thomas, Souter nor Alito came close to this experience.

And as been readliy observed from Justice Sotomayers short tenure on the high court, she asked more questions from the bench in one week than Thomas has in 19 years.

I agree. And I would think putting a child up for adoption (especially blind adoptions) would cause more long term mental harm to both mother and possibly child than having an actual abortion. I wish pro-life nuts would mind their own effing life.

Hathor said: "I constantly get the impression that those whose are proponents of right to life, could give a crap about murdered babies, their main concern is that women are having sex that is not controlled by their moral view and that pregnancy should be a punishment. Otherwise, why wouldn't they be doing everything they could to support women when they are pregnant and in prevention of unwanted pregnancy. "

Hathor, you just said VOLUMES. I too have always said this. You hit the nail on the head. This is why I've always felt these pro-life people are more vile, wicked and vindictive with this willful sexist driven pathological agenda.

I read all the comment's, and some SCARED me, some came from women, well, all I can say is HELP us LORD! and God, please HELP FIELD NEGRO!

I don't know any of you people, but, some of you seem to FLOW together on Life Issue's, if FIELD say's, (ain't nothing wrong with Killing a BABY)the Majority of the people on this BLOG will follow his MINDSET! people be careful, because we will all be JUDGED one DAY!

Year's ago, a woman I knew would get pregnant ALL the time, and she would TRY to hide her pregnancy by wearing TWO or THREE GIRDLE'S, this seemed to work for her, because those BABY'S never saw the LIGHT of DAY! this was her way of Abortion! we all knew she was pregnant, but, she would never admit to it, you see, she was in LOVE with my cousin and she wanted him, but, he did not want her, and yes, those Baby's she Killed were his baby's, well, she did have one daughter by him, let me fast forward!

Well about TEN YEAR'S ago, after this person had lived to be about FORTY something, for some reason she decided to go to the store, well, she had to cross a big ENTER SECTION to get to the store, well, she never made it to the OTHER SIDE, she was hit by a BIG TRUCK and it SMASHED her to DEATH! my mind went back to ALL those BABY'S, she Smashed in her STOMACH and Killed YEAR'S EARLIER'S, people it is some thing's in life YOU just DO NOT TAMPER with, for in this life, you will REAP what you have SOWED, God will make sure of that! TRUE STORY!

Some women that ABORT their BABY'S, will NOT just STOP at having ONE ABORTION, they will have ABORTION after ABORTION! so in other word's, they DO NOT have a problem with Killing! and people DO NOT tell me this is NOT KILLING, if something had LIFE at one point, and you decide it should STOP breathing, then it is MURDER!

Month's ago, I was told, we had a young lady on my street walking around with a DEAD BABY in her STOMACH, when I heard this, I almost fainted, well this person had two children already, but, at some point in her life, she had TWO ABORTION'S, well, when she became PREGNANT with her FIFTH CHILD she wanted to give BIRTH to it, but, NOT SO! well, the BABY DIED inside of her WOMB! WHY? GOD only know's!

The DOCTOR gave her a shot so the baby could be released out of her body, they sent her home, and she had to WALK around for a week with a DEAD BABY in her STOMACH! when I was told about this, it almost brought to my knee's! some thing's in LIFE is NOT CUT and DRY as some of you GROWN ADULT'S would like to believe, GOD will FORGIVE, but, he will NOT FORGET!

  108. omg. what a steaming pile of a shit story!

let me tell you a different story.

a friend of mine became pregnant, on purpose, while in a committed relationship. she was seen in a military hospital in DC. in performing an amnio, a large tear formed.

she began to lose fluid and it was clear the fetus could not survived. HOWEVER, because the federal govt. does not allow abortions except in those extreme cases, LIKE THOSE THAT FLY BELIEVES IN, they SENT HER HOME in that condition and told her to wait...and in a few days they could see her and perform an abortion. because by then, her life WOULD BE in danger so they'd be free to proceed.

this was horrifying to me and my friend, who was suffering terribly through all this, and she chose to have an abortion ASAP rather than wait until a crisis was upon her. i personally drove her to a clinic (which was picketed by old men) charged her abortion on my credit card and took care of her afterward.

this is your govt. in action. thanks to lunatics like bart stupak and henry hyde. and keep in mind, depending on how health reform turns out (or doesn't) ALL women with insurance, even if they pay for it themselves, will no longer have access to abortion unless they buy a "rider," which isn't even sold.

That seems to be a concept you don't understand. I don't discuss what I should do because I am not in a position to do anything now. When I could, forty some years ago I did.
I would say to you, take your business sense, go into those neighborhoods, appeal to the prurient interest about starting a business, acquiring capital and making a profit. I dont believe in abortion; but I do believe that if abortion was not legal, that a lot of women would do it illegally. I wouldnt want to see that happen either. I always thought that abortion was a red herring. If people who feel abortion is wrong are getting that from the Bible, than the main idea is that people should not being having sex outside of marriage. I know that married women have abortions as well, but I dont believe that to be the majority.

I, also, have trouble with women and men saying that the man has no choice. So, he has no choice when it comes to keeping the baby; but, if the woman decides to keep the baby then he is ultimately responsible to take care of the baby? If she decides to keep the baby besides his wishes, then shouldnt he then be let go of his responsibiliy? It just seems one-sided to me.

The man forfeits such "decision rights" when he already made his initial "decision" by choosing to have sex without proper use of a condom. Period.

Married couples are another issue. However, if a woman doesn't feel supported or secured enough to bring a child with her husband or committed partner, then perhaps that man should also do some self-evaluation on his end.

    Maria, Regarding Roe vs Wade:

"Yet there has been one infinitely tragic and destructive departure from those American ideals in recent memory. It was this Court's own decision in Roe v. Wade (1973) to exclude the unborn child from the human family. You ruled that a mother, in consultation with her doctor, has broad discretion, guaranteed against infringement by the United States Constitution, to choose to destroy her unborn child.

Your opinion stated that you did not need to “resolve the difficult question of when life begins.” That question is inescapable. If the right to life in an inherent and inalienable right, it must surely exist wherever life exists. No one can deny that the unborn child is a distinct being, that it is human, and that it is alive. It is unjust, therefore, to deprive the unborn child of its fundamental right to life on the basis of its age, size, or condition of dependency.

It was a sad infidelity to America's highest ideals when this Court said that it did not matter, or could not be determined, when the inalienable right to life began for a child in its mother's womb.

America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships.

It has aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society.
It has portrayed the greatest of gifts—a child—as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered domination over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters.

And, in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners.

Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign.

The Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany recently ruled that “the unborn child is entitled to its rights to life independently of acceptance by its mother; this is an elementary and inalienable right that emanates from the dignity of the human being.” Americans may feel justly proud that Germany in 1993 was able to recognize the sanctity of human life. You must weep that your own government, at present, seems blind to this truth."

Maria, some claim that the recent decision by the Supreme Court regarding campaign financing, was the worst in history. Actually, Roe vs. Wade was the worst because it licensed a nation to kill defenseless unborn children.

If there is any conscience left in the moral dna of this nation, Roe vs Wade will eventually be over turned because, like slavery, it is an ugly stain on the conscience of humanity.

    Hathor:

I typically don't use my community involvement to "defend" myself against criticism BUT:

Tomorrow - here is what I worked out:

    1) My Jamaican wife is BACK IN JAMAICA for the weekend.

    2) My kids have music class at 11am

    3) My WEEKLY MENTORING SESSION for a group of project kids in a neighboring city is at 10am.

    4) If I tell the mentoring group that I can't make it - up to 10 little Black boys will miss this session because they'll have to cancel.

    SOLUTION:

    5) I asked a family friend to drive my kids to their music lessons SO THAT I CAN PROVIDE "BOOT ON THE GROUND" to 10 other Black boys so they they won't one day have their "PANTS ON THE GROUND".

You see Hathor - when I mention the fact that in 3 years of participation I HAVE NEVER ONCE seen a FATHER show up to pick up any of these boys, only mothers, older sisters or older brothers - THEN I AM ACCUSED OF "HATING BLACK PEOPLE" by WhiteBowieSteve and others.

When I dare notice that I have to LEAVE MY HOUSE AND MY WIFE AND MY KIDS to go COVER FOR the void that A LIST OF OTHER BLAME MEN have left as I transfer my knowledge upon these kids - I am said to be practicing "I got mine, you've got to get your own".

Bottom Line Hathor - here is my true opinion:

It is resource intensive for me to leave my home to go take care of ANOTHER MAN'S KIDS. We instead need to have these MEN who "got some" 9 months ago to STEP UP to their responsibility.

Hathor - close your eyes: "I didn't get the booty and create the kid" yet I am asked to apply my own "Social Consciousness" to cover for the brother who DID fertilize the egg in the process of using the friction from the vaginal walls to stimulate the nerve endings in his penis, triggering his ejaculation of genetic material into the womb in question and thus.....fertilizing the EGG.

Hell since we are DISAGGREGATING the question of gestation - we may as well go into this level of detail.

Its ONLY the exchange of genetic material to trigger the "tissue creation" process after all - RIGHT?
