No work today. I am getting cabin fever thanks to all this damn snow outside. Thank goodness for blogging and my republican friends for the entertainment they bring me during these long dreary days of winter.
Where do I start? I think I will start with my man Newt. You remember Newt, don't you folks? He is the guy who asked his dying wife for a divorce after cheating on her, and then publicly rebuked Slick Willie for getting his whistle wet in the people's house. Newt has a way of losing touch with reality, and, like most republcians, he tends to play fast and loose with the truth. In the republican world "truthiness" (I think that's Colbert's word) is just not in vogue.
Consider the following:
"Tuesday night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart called out Newt Gingrich for Gingrich's claim that the current Administration was 'radical'. At one point, Gingrich pointed to the Administration's 'mirandizing' of the Christmas Underwear Bomber as an example of the Administration's 'radical' actions.
Stewart took exception, asking Gingrich what the difference was between the current Administration treating the underwear bomber as a criminal and the Bush Administration treating Richard Reid as a criminal. Gingrich answered: " Richard Reid was an American Citizen." http://www.thedailyshow.com/ *click on the 5th video on the right side of the viewing window; 3:06 mark*
Except, as Stewart later pointed out, that's simply not true.
Richard Reid was a British citizen.
"Reid, 29, a British citizen and convert to Islam, was arrested for allegedly trying to light a fuse to set off explosives concealed in his sneakers while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami on December 22."
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/LAW/10/04/reid.guilty.plea/
This information of course completely nullifies Gingrich's point.
As Stewart said to Gingrich later in the interview in regard to one of Gingrich's opinions, "don't let reality get in the way". [story]
And his O ness wants to meet these people in the middle? Maybe he should reconsider.
And then, of course, there is the leader of this republican tribe. My man Hip Hop Mike himself. Seems old Mike is not so pleased with some of his fellow republicans and now he too is playing the race card. (I thought black conservatives weren't supposed to play the race card? Isn't that for us progressive "racism chasers" who use racism as an excuse for our failures?) Oh well, I wonder if when a conservative black who likes to preach that racism is so yesterday in A-merry-ca cries race it has as much weight?
"RNC Chairman and designated GOP sparkplug Michael Steele finds himself the center of attention once again this week -- this time for an interview published in February's issue of Washingtonian magazine in which he charges his critics with racism.
Near the end of the story, called "Up In The Air" by Paul West, Steele implies that he and the RNC face more scrutiny because he is black:
Near the end of the story, called "Up In The Air" by Paul West, Steele implies that he and the RNC face more scrutiny because he is black:
Steele acknowledges that at times he has a tendency to take things too far. "And I get checked on that, just as when I was a young boy and I pushed the envelope too far and my Mama was there to check me."
But there's an edge to his voice when he talks about a double standard that he believes has been applied by his critics, and he posits racism as the cause: "I don't see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation. Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?"' [story]
Sorry Mike, you can't cry racism now. If some of the folks in your party do happen to be just a little racist I think you might have to suck it up. You don't get a do-over. That's why they put you there, to show the rest of us that they aren't racist. At this point you have to just play along.
"This is, of course, the same Michael Steele who had previously vowed not to play the race card. The GOP chairman said last October he didn't take part in race politics in an interview with Univision, during which he declined to condemn Glenn Beck's assertion that Obama is a "racist."'
Yeah, but that was last October. In post-racial A-merry-ca time that was soooo long ago.
John Stewart calling out Gingrich was hilarious! The whole Republican party really is an abundant source of comedy. They just keep it coming!

yesterday, Michelle Obama continued her campaign against childhood obesity, saying that the children shouldn't be the ones to decide what they eat (which ultimately centers around sugar and fat if they are allowed to decide).
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in her adult life, she is being sensible and even praiseworthy.
"Can anybody think real hard and guess what color the violent negroes who committed the assault are? Just give a quick answer, you don't even have to think much about it."
ReplyDeleteYeah, especially since you said "negroes" you fucking idiot.
Yeah Field Gingrich is laughable but just like his cohorts as Stewart pointed out they never let truth stand in the way.
ReplyDeleteMan that dude Mike Steele is really a little crazy. Imagine heading a group that includes a siginficant percentage that doubt your humanity and if they don't doubt it they assign it inferiority.
And Field I am going to be a stickler on this "race card" thing. You know the term only recently became popular. As I pointed out before, it was used to discredit those who had the nerve to point out racism. This is a helluva place we live in brother. Folks treat you like dirt and when you complain they say, 'hey stop complaining' and besides that didn't happen. Your reality isn't real. There is no such thing as racism you are just wallowing in your victimization. And of course they miss the fact that you can't wallow in it if it didn't happen.Or they tell you to live with it, but either way lets not get rid of what ails you.
Words have power, my brother they often guide perception. It gives credence to the idea that racism isn't a reality of life in the good ole US, its really just a " race card" a pretend thing. It is the wolf cry the Negroes make when they want something from the government.
A good example of this is the government telling the people that it was using "coercive methods" to get information out of suspected terrorists when captured. Well the truth is that water boarding is torture in the first degree but it eased folks conscience to know that the US spooks were only trying to coerce folks rather than torture them.
Which is why I won't use the term "street pirates," as if young black folks have a corner on crime. They are acting out the same way oppressed folks all over the world have acted out. After a while arguments with folks who are opposed to the freedom and happiness and equality of all their fellow human beings is not so cute, in fact after awhile it becomes counter productive to forward thinking.
Anyway not preaching but hoping to make a point. I don't make concessions to the enemies of brother/sister hood and thus the enemies of humanity. And it drives me crazy when we unwittingly give them even a little credibility.

Mel, that's a good point. The trivialization of racism is a tried and true trick. And some are better at it than others.

ReplyDeleteThe problem with the race card is the only people who play it are upper middle class and rich Black folk both democrats and republicans. The people who should "play the race" card are poor Black folks but they're too isolated to even know that they're being discriminated against and pushed to the side by every body including middle class and rich Black folk but especially white folk-what's new.
ReplyDeleteAnd the republicans might be funny, but they are winning. The democrats are just tragicominc in their losing.
Michael Steele is Constructive Feedback on steroids.

I remember stating in a post on your blog awhile back that "they" did NOT put in that position. High level blacks in the repub party did.
On a better note...it looks like your boy Steele sounds like he is listening to some of those high level blacks. This is exactly how politics is SUPPOSED to played. A great move on his part and one of the smartest comments he's made thus far.
Now THIS is how the race card is SUPPOSED to be played!
As for Newt - isn't that some sort of reptile...?P

Jody, right on both points. Hip-Hop Mike is too full of himself to realize that a) he only got his job because he's Black -- but is shocked when everyone (even the GOP goons) call him out on it and b) he's really, really bad at his job. Like Sarah Palin -- he's a political token who too stupid and full of himself to realize that he's little more than a cartoonish cardboard cut out. The man couldn't be more self-absorbed if he were equal parts toilet paper and water. (An old Dennis Miller line, back when he was actually funny.)
Second, I watched Rachel Maddow online today. The hypocrisy of Republicans screaming fiscal responsibility while passing Obama stimulus checks like Ed McMahon is just galling. Now the fact that the Tea Party cats can't put two and two together (supporting obvious liars in the GOP leadership) shows that they're even bigger hypocrites and/or are dumber than the gang of GOP clowns that represent them on the Hill.

Michael Steele may finally be understanding what A "token" negro is.
ReplyDeleteHow can he be the face of a party which, in recent years, has taken more and more right wing stances against issues and positions that Steele should at least have a passing interest in?
Because his interests don't matter. He is a figurehead. He has managed to become the Affirmative Action head of a Political Party that is expressly against all forms of quotas, set asides or any privileges other than "merit".
He has about the same influence to the republican platform as I do.
Because we all know, at long last, that the Republicans got a Black guy.........after the nation got a Black guy.

ReplyDeleteAnon, "Yeah, Democrats do dumb shit too. But they never pass themselves off as paragons of virtue."
ReplyDeleteYou are kidding aren't you? Remember Bill Clinton? "I never had sex with that woman." Not only was he claiming virtuous innocence, he was lying in the process.
How about John Edwards? Now there was a man who had so much virtue that his character was beyond reproach. Like Clinton, he looked the reporter and the camera in the eye and said, "that baby is not my baby." Btw, did you know his wife has been fighting cancer for sometime?
Remember Gary Hart? Jesse Jackson? Charlie Rangall on taxes? Shall I go on?
At least Republicans will admit it when they are caught. They will even call a press conference and say to America, "I was wrong."
But Democrats will boldly lie, and insult the intelligence of the entire nation. Sometimes their lies will precipitate a Congressional inquiry about tax evasion; and sometimes it leads to an impeachment for lying to Congress.
Thanks Granny for the compliment glad you see my point on the problem of that term. I wrote a piece for Black Agenda Report on it about 2 years ago but I can't find it and don't remember what I titled it. But a sister took it on years ago in an essay that was unparelled you can probably find on google.
ReplyDeleteAnon: YOu miss my point about why I won't mislabel things or people. But to answer your question I care about everyone. I have found that even folks that people like to write off as thugs have some good in them.
And to be honest as quaint as this on going to sound on this board I have to admit that I care because I believe that God cares about them as well. Very few people are beyond redemption.
But don't confuse my compassion for confusion. Too many of our young people are acting out violence and just acting crazy. But thats what they are in a society that has already written them off. With no other way to advance and no other way to deal whats inside them they do what every people that have been oppressed in the history of the world has done they turn on one another. Mellaneous:
These are the type of people that CF and Anonymous turn their heads and look the other way because they want you to focus on street pirates, even though there are street pirates in every neighborhood. However, the only neighborhood they want to shine the light on is urban neighborhoods. They want people to be afraid of all black people and label all blacks as criminals. Underneath all of their rants and raves is racism at its best.
Forget about the Corporate thugs who bringing America to the brink of destruction economically, sex perverts that hurt innocent children, neo-nazis that go around ganging up and beating up elderly black people who enjoy fishing as a recreation, or bad cops that need anger management classes or who need be kicked off the force. These are the types of folks they defend. Sick!
Black people know what goes on in urban neighborhoods and we don't agree with it. We don't like it either. Nor are we trying to deny it and there are people who are out there on a daily basis working with our youth to get them to turn their lives around. You know and I know the harvest is plenty but the workers are few.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, we don't need them telling us how to clean up our front yard when theirs is over flowing with trash too. With that I'm gonna say goodnight!
Mellaneous, "Anon: YOu miss my point about why I won't mislabel things or people. But to answer your question I care about everyone. I have found that even folks that people like to write off as thugs have some good in them."
ReplyDeleteI hear you, and I agree to some extent. Even the worst of humans has some good in them and even the best has a little bad in them. That's the human race. However, I have seen the worst of us unmercifully kill some of the best of us and laugh about it, and then go have a good nights sleep.
Mellaneous, I also agree with you that they are God's children like everyone else. And they might be redeemable. Meanwhile, they are still killing and terrorizing the black community. For example, I am sure you saw the video of a gang of black teens in Chicago killing a teen. Btw, this teenager was an honor student and was considered a 'good' responsible kid by the black community.
Those thugs maimed and killed that kid and in doing so, terrorized other black people present on that day. That is an example of what goes on in some of the neighborhoods of the BC. It's no wonder people develop PTSD. It's very stressful to live your life under such intolerable conditions.
Do you really want to argue over what those killers should be called? thugs? criminals? terrorists? street pirates? Mellaneous, they fit ALL of those labels, and more.
"Street pirate" is a tame word to describe murderous SOBs who kill without a conscience. If you ever witness them in action, i.e. killing without even thinking about it, then you probably wouldn't be so offended at the label.
It's a shame that people can't hear an alarming ominous real life message simply because they don't like the messenger(CF).
Or, maybe people do hear it, but they just don't give a damn.
When Michael Steele uses a race card, you know it's the sign of the apocalypse. But hey, Superman had Kryptonite. And I guess even Captian Coontastic can't escape the rock that is racism that holds his party together.
ReplyDeleteNot one to label republicans as racist as some of youse Negroes do. I have to question whether this is really about race or an attack on the stupidity that is Michael Steele. Oh well, like Ice Cube said back in the day, "They'll have a new nigger next year."

The BLACK COMMUNITY is one of the most rare subjects on the "Filled Negro blogs".
[quote]No - compared to the Porch Simian (CF), Micheal Steele is a freaking Rhodes Scholar![/quote]
Not that it bothers me - because my self worth comes from inside BUT if those of you who are pissed at Tom Tancredo knew that a SIMIAN IS A MONKEY - would you see BET Uncut as EQUAL to the value of the White man named Tom Tancredo and thus rebuke him in an equal measure for making such RACIST references that have historically assailed Black people?

ReplyDeleteNote about "Progressive Calculus" on RACE:
1) Black Male - RiPPa - makes use of a HATEFUL word used by WHITE RACISTS in the past to describe a BLACK MAN. and some today slip up and refer Dr King in this manner every January
2) This word was heard by many Black men just prior to them being lynched. It is a word used by a bigot against his target. It is only meant to impugn him.
3) Unlike the word "STREET PIRATE" which someone has to EARN her his documentable ATTACK upon a person - "Coon" is an 'empty caloric' word with NO FUNCTIONAL reference upon the receipient
4) White Female - Jody - hears this word and is appreciative that a Black male - RiPPa has refered to another Black male - Michael Steele as such.
RESPONSE from those who are still fumming over Tom Tancredo? NOTHING.
LESSON LEARNED: Tom Tancredo is SUPERIOR to RiPPa and his words are more impactful - even if they both say the same thing.
MY OBSERVATION THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN: There is little difference between the antics of the Right and Left EXCEPT that the Left has MORE BLACK PEOPLE to call the antics of the right RACIST

oh, goody! let's debate climate change!
ReplyDeletethe blizzards were PREDICTED. climate change isn't just global warming--it is what it says. change.
the weather patterns are destablizing. there will be more extreme colds, more extreme hot periods
there will be more rain and more droughts.
more earth quakes, more hurricanes and of greater intenstity.
the snow storms actually PROVE climate change for those who care enough to understand what's happening to the planet.
al gore isn't wrong. and the "purloined" emails on climate change did not show any "'trick" other than how to assemble a chart.

Penn State Exonerates "Climate-gate" Scientist on Three Misconduct Allegations
After reviewing some 1,000 emails "purloined from a server at the University of East Anglia," a committee at Pennsylvania State University found no evidence to support four allegations of research misconduct against climate researcher Michael Mann. One of the four allegations, however, will undergo further scrutiny by an investigative committee, Penn State said in a statement. Penn State conducted an inquiry after receiving "numerous communications (emails, phone calls and letters) accusing [Mann] of having engaged in acts that included manipulating data, destroying records and colluding to hamper the progress of scientific discourse around the issue of anthropogenic global warming from approximately 1998," a report by the inquiry committee said. The unresolved allegation "revolves around the question of accepted faculty conduct surrounding scientific discourse and thus merits a review by a committee of faculty scientists. Only with such a review will the academic community and other interested parties likely feel that Penn State has discharged it responsibility on this matter," the report said. "This is very much the vindication I expected since I am confident I have done nothing wrong," Mann, director of Penn State's Earth Systems Science Center, said in his own statement. The investigation is expected to be concluded in 120 days.

"A federal government report issued last year, intended to be the authoritative statement of known climate trends in the United States, pointed to the likelihood of more frequent snowstorms in the Northeast and less frequent snow in the South and Southeast as a result of long-term temperature and precipitation patterns. The Climate Impacts report, from the multiagency United States Global Change Research Program, also projected more intense drought in the Southwest and more powerful Gulf Coast hurricanes because of warming."

ReplyDeleteI hve no problem using the 'race card' as I see fit..
BTW I support Steele's position and I think it is a mistake to kick him to the curb and any other Black GOP type...From my perspective Black folks shouldbe everywhere our interests are in play from the pentagon to corporate boardrooms to warden offices and hr block offices..
It is foolish to ignore the clout of Steele he has lots of value on a number of levels..
maria, there you go with facts again. That spoils a good argument everytime. :)

Granny I take my last post back - Those were a lot if Republicans..lol. Good job.
ReplyDeleteConservative "real americans" are simple.
ReplyDeleteThey will say because it is snowing that global warming is a hoax. That's like saying that your spouse isn't cheating on you because he bought you a box of candy on valentine's day.
The problem with conservatives, and to a somewhat lesser degree the republican party, is that they have always stood in the way of any type of meaningful progress by telling people that there is danger over that next ridge, by telling them that the devil they know is better than the devil that they don't know.
Human beings like routines. We like familiarity, hence the "I want my country back" bullshit. The Tea Party movement is basically the republicans who sat at home on election because they didn't like John McCain, but they thought that he would win anyway, because they thought that there is nor way that white people would vote en masse for a black person. They are mad simply because a brotha' is president. That's it.
Conservatives can make themselves believe almost anything that will make them feel safe.
They will believe that torture saves lives.
They will believe the they they are the only tax-paying people in the nation.
They will believe that cutting taxes for the richest will help the out eventually "trickle-down" to them.
That unelected CEO's of companies have the average person's interests in mind more than the elected officials, federal, state or local, the can be held accountable through the ballot box.
That minorities, gays, and other populations should wait for progress on the issues that matter to them because the vast majority of middle-americans take umbrage of their concerns.
That somehow a woman who attended 5 safety schools in 4 years and quit halfway through the term of the governorship of the most sparely populated state in the union is somehow a match for a President of the United States who has probably forgot more shit that she has ever learned.
PLEASE CONSERVATIVES, DO ME ONE FAVOR.
Tell me what the conservative plan is other than tax cuts and family values.
Tell me how to bring manufacturing jobs back to the rust belt.
Tell me why we shouldn't have universal health care when almost every industrialized country in the would has it EXCEPT us.
Tell me why rich and poor people get away with not paying taxes, but you save your anger just for the poor people that don't.
Tell be why you hate brown people so much.
Tell me why you think Jesus was around 6000 years ago riding on a dinosaur.
Tell me why mirandizing a terror suspect makes George W. Bush a hero but it makes Barack Obama a traitor.
Tell me how you can turn ideologically naive folks against their own self-interests.
Again I ask, what the fuck are you guys conserving?
And if you think your message is so strong, why hasn't the President approval ratings only went down to 50%? Why is Obama not rolling in the 30's where bush was for 2 years?
Actually, Obama's approval rating is at 45%. Bush's approval rating didn't start to tank until near the ned of his term. Obama still has three years to sink to the 30s. Perhaps this should be his wake up call.

Now, you know Steele is not really black in the eyes of the RNC. Conservatives keep telling us that they are color blind. Why Limbaugh said just the other day that he sees no color. It's all in Steele's mind. They love him the same way they love all the other black people on the planet. ;-)

Obama only recieved 42% of the white vote.

David Duke. Need more? Now I'll give you the fact that he is now a Republican. But I'm sure you're aware he ran for political offices in the late 80's and early 90's, including the presidency in 1988, as a DEMOCRAT. Now I invite you to take you black ass down south to see just how many more "dukes" there are in the Democrat party.
What???????????? I don't hear anything uptownsuga'lumps!
But tell me, do you think 1990 David Duke would have sat at the table of a political fundraiser with YOU????

ReplyDeleteHate is not the answer. Field and I have reached an understanding on this issue and I will pray that soon you too will be at peace with all God's brothers and sisters. He changed his political affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 1988 just like many other white Southern Pols like Phil Gramm, Billy Tauzin and Richard Shelby.

Which party do you think the KKK supports in 2010?

Where or when did I express hatred for anyone based on their skin color?
BTW thanks for your kind words.
My wife IS lovely.
Xi- can you provide some clarity about what you consider hate or at least racial hatred. You are right but that there is still a lot of racial hatred in America, but its not really found on this blog except the few who come on and mak really foul statements about black people.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are not equating the occassional disparing remard aimed at the behavior of some white people as hatred on the part of black folks on this blog.
If thats what you are doing you are off base. There are a lot of places you can go to preach about the need to love your brother/sister but not necessarily this blog.
This reminds me of the discussion about violence perpetrated by the system and the violence that results from defending yourself. They are not the same.
Though some people have coopted the word racism to mean just about anything these days. Like anything else the word has a definition. The working definition is prejudice plus power equals racism. While black folks for the most part can piss and moan about racism all we want we "seldom" have the chance to enforce our prejudices.
with love my brother
And just a reminder if someone hates
Off topic:
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Tea Party is angry over Marvel Comic's Captain America issue 602, which implies that the Tea Party are a bunch of racist white folks.
Marvel has since apologized.
Let me get this straight. The tea party can depict the president with a Hitler mustache or with a bone through his nose, but they have the nerve to take umbrage with Marvel Comic's implication?
These hypocrites make me sick.

ReplyDeleteRottnKid:
You can't LOGICALLY justify NOT accepting the money.
You, me and Filled Negro are partners in a business.
We need a bank loan in order to tide us over while in a hole. The amount is $1 million. It is to be split among the 3 franchises that we all jointly own.
I am OPPOSED to this loan because it will add to our debt. I make the case that any new debt that we take on MUST be used as investments that can
1) Pay the INTEREST on this new debt
2) Pay OFF the debt
3) Create the necessary extra business that creates jobs and thus can accomplish #1 and #2.
Since you and Filled Negro can't assure this I OPPOSE THIS NEW DEBT.
You both OVER RULE ME - voting 2 to 1.
Guess what RottnKid: I AM STILL ON THE HOOK FOR PAYING BACK THE DEBT MONEY THAT I WAS OPPOSED TO OBTAINED.
Is it LOGICAL for me to NOT take the money; allow them to take $500,000 while I AM ON THE HOOK FOR PAYING IT BACK as well as them?
I challenge ANY OF YOU MO'FOs to put up a RATIONAL argument which says that they should have REFUSED the money.
Even the evil Mark Sandford of South Carolina wasn't "refusing" the money. He wanted it to be used to PAY OFF THE STATE DEBT and a waiver to the rule that the money received must also be paid in expanded UNEMPLOYMENT to groups who previously did not qualify for it. Thus long after the FEDERAL MONEY is gone - the state would be required to pay out more in Unemployment than the prior state laws had mandated.
I do agree that those who voted against the money should have played like a vampire and NOT taken any pictures with a check that WASN'T THEIR MONEY in the first place.
Xi, thanks for making peace with Field. Btw, I like your blog.

I THINK EVERYONE KNOWS I FAIL TO KEEP ABREAST OF CURRENT POLITICAL HAPPENINGS AND TRENDS AND WHEN I FINALLY FIND SOMETHING NEW IT MUST BE A SHOCKER. WELL, MIKE STEELE, YOU WERE THAT SHOCKER. I HAD NO IDEA A BLACK MAN WAS IN CHARGE OF THE NEW REPUBLICAN AGENDA. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN...WELL, YOU ARE A BLACK MAN, ASKED TO LEAD AN ORGANIZATION THAT HAS BEEN THE FORCE AT ERADICATING EVERY FEDERAL AID PROGRAM THAT HELPED POVERTY STRICKEN AMERICANS FOR DECADES. THE GROUP THAT'S LED US INTO WARS, THE GROUP THAT'S HATED MULTICULTURALISM FOR FAR TOO LONG. (I GUESS YOU SAY YOUR APPOINTMNET IS A SIGN OF THINGS CHANGING) THE ONLY QUESTION I WOULD ASK IS WHY? DID THE MAJORITY THAT NOMINATED AND ELECTED YOU TO THAT POSITION FEEL THAT YOU WERE WHAT THE REPUBLICANS NEEDED TO FACE OBAMA AND A POSSIBLE SECOND TERM. WERE THE REPUBLICANS PLAYING THE RACE CARD? OR, WAS IT AN ATTEMPT TO CREATE A NEW BLACK CONSERVATISM AMONGST THOSE SEEN AS THE BLACK MIDDLE CLASS OR THE BLACK ELITE? WHATEVER THE REAL REASON, I'M SURE IT WILL REMAIN HIDDEN IN THE SUBCONSCIOUS OF THE PEOPLE AS THE SHOW GOES ON.
