Do you see those children watching the "strange fruit" hanging from that tree? How much you want to bet that one of them was in Washington today protesting health care reform. (BTW, did anyone see Rush or Glenn Beck in any of the pictures of the Washington protest? It must be nice to be able to manufacture a revolution from a radio or television studio.)
So anyway, thanks to Mr. pro-life Stupak, it finally looks like this very watered down health care reform bill just might make it to 216 votes. Don't worry wingnuts, if it does, the sun will still come up tomorrow in your beloved A-merry-ca. But thanks for your passion. It's funny, I am hearing all these people talk about his O ness transforming A-merry-ca as they know it, and how, if this bill passes, it will be the worst day in A-merry-can history. Really? Even worse than those days when folks like my man in this pic was being forced to do neck exercises until he could no longer breathe? I can guarantee you that these folks would have been the screaming bloody murder when we amended the Constitution to include the 13th Amendment in 1865. We went to war then, but I doubt that we will again. Although you never know. The way this beige guy in the people's house is pissing off the wingnuts it could get even uglier before it's all said and done. Over at Radio Rwanda they must be all wearing black. I bet they can't wait for November to get here so that they can "throw the bums out."
And it's only going to get worse for the wingnut. On a day when over 200,000.00 brown people and their friends are in D.C. demanding immigration reform, please believe that this issue is next up for his O ness. Oh lawd! What's a wingnut to do? They are going to have to get their own Hispanic version of Tom In Chief, Jesse Lee, to beg for them. Good luck with that, Jesse is the best.
Of course when things are this heated, people's true feelings come out. F*#k that facade of civility, it's time-to quote Marsellus Wallace- "get medieval". And medieval they got with Rep. John Lewis of all people. A man who got his brains beaten in because he had the audacity to stand up to bigotry. And one who had the decency to meet with and forgive one of his tormentors. And don't believe the wingnuts when they say it didn't happen, it did. And it represents an ugliness that has been coming to the surface with these nut jobs for awhile now. That's not just some black blogger talking, a white member of congress said the same damn thing. These clowns went "medieval" on Gays and blacks, and they spit in the face of a congressman for good measure.
"Angry activists who had gathered outside the Capitol to protest health care reform Saturday yelled "nigger" at a few members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis from Georgia.
Protesters also spat on at least one black lawmaker, and the most high-profile openly gay lawmaker, Rep Barney Frank, was apparently called a "faggot." Rep Emanuel Cleaver said he was spat upon while walking toward the Capitol. Police arrested the assailant, but Cleaver decided not to press charges.
A statement from his office read: "This is not the first time the Congressman has been called the 'n' word and certainly not the worst assault he has endured in his years fighting for equal rights for all Americans."

I thank Representative Lewis for that. Unfortunately for the poor guy hanging in the pic, folks like Representative Lewis came along a little too late.
Current Teabagger excuses include a clip of part of the walk by the CBC where you cannot hear the words, and second - that it was one or two extremists in the crowd.
ReplyDeleteApparently over at Michele Maliken's site a number of protesters that were there say they overheard the chanting of the "N-word".
FN,
ReplyDeleteWhat should piss me off more the insults to John Lewis or How John Lewis and the BC have failed the Black Community??
Being called a nigger is not a newsflash for most Black men in our nation and John Lewis is no more of a man than me or you..
I am not going to get emotional over another case of a Black man being called a nigger..I wil get emotional when I see a Black man making a difference in my hood and on the hill..
Thank goodness Stupak stood his ground on the abortion issue. It's one thing to support murder of infants legally but it's even worse for the government to pay cash for murdering the helpless unborn by pro-abortionists.

Honestly, can you imagine what the anti-health care reform protests would be like if the House was about to actually pass a single-payer bill? Those fat and/or old fuckers up there in their Playskool colonist hats and ready-made "Kill the Bill" signs would be undulating and wheeling around with guns, threatening to shoot shit up until it was time for Country Buffet to open. Jesus, they're already threatening war over the small steps the current bill takes in making the American health insurance system less savage. Glenn Beck has called this as much of "a turning point" in American history as "the Civil War." So that means that offering a subsidy to people to buy into a health insurance exchange that's regulated by the federal government is the same as slavery?
Here's what's going to happen after the vote on the reconciliation bill in the House on Sunday: Almost every Tea Partyer who was out there protesting will go the fuck away. They will devote whatever energy they have left to posting comments on blogs and Facebook pages. Their leaders, desperate to still be relevant and still draw a paycheck, will try to come up with some other phantom issue to whip up enthusiasm. But once it passes, no one will give a shit except the people it helps. The Civil War won't be re-fought. The Constitution won't be shredded. One or two states might try to force their misinterpretation of the 10th Amendment. Soon, Beck and Hannity and Michele Bachmann and Steve King will discover another Republic-ending crisis, probably immigration reform, and we'll start the magical cycle all over again.
Meanwhile, those poor, ignorant bitches and bastards in the photo up there will shuffle home, curse the process, and, like good corporate tools, continue to suck down fast food and sodas and buy shit they don't need because it's cheaply made in China and sold at Wal-Mart and proudly drive gas-devouring vehicles and keep their children stupid and tell themselves that they aren't the problem, no, they are the solution, wondering how to fill the desperate couple of hours between the end of Limbaugh's radio show and the start of Beck's TV rants, despising those who are attempting to do something for them and their neighbors, wondering where their country went, when, after all, this is where it's gone.
For a couple of them, the day will come when they lose their jobs. And the COBRA runs out. And maybe for a moment they panic about where they're going to get health insurance for themselves and their families. And then it will hit them, that "oh, yeah, there's that" and it just might end up okay. But, like the dunces who want the government to keep its hands off their Medicare, they will go on thinking the same, doing the same, never learning, never changing.
We are Americans, after all. Our swinish laziness, blissful ignorance, and blithely cruel selfishness is something our soldiers are fighting and dying for right now.
It's okay. The rest of us will be out here trying to do good, even for those who would like to see our blood discolor the streets.

I'm sick of seeing the obsession with making sure there is no nook and cranny of this country where black people aren't spoken to in the same way black hip hop artists, religious, and "civil rights" leaders talk about women, gays, asians, jews, etc.
This isn't terrorism- if you want to see terrorism take a look at video from the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC, Maudi Gras in Seattle, Crown Heights pogrom, etc. THOSE are terrorism

ReplyDeleteFilled-Negro Racism Chaser Extraordinaire.
It is amazing to me that a man from Jamaica where they count the number of people who are killed after a national election - that you are forced to scrape so low on the ground because so many of the "low hanging fruit" has departed.
Do you see, Filled Negro - the biggest indictment against you is to NOT RUN FROM YOUR ANTICS. Instead we should go to he historical footage, show what things were like when "The Black Man Had No Rights That A White Man Need Respect" and then compare it to TO-DAMNED-DAY. Today the video footage of Black folks doing the "Electric Slide" in Jena Louisiana is par for the course.
Here is the deal Filled Negro - YOU circling the USA to find the assaults done that have political ramification upon "Democrats who are Black", Rachel Maddow and HuffPo raise your status among your fellow travelers.
ME - who reports that on South Street Philly - where thousands of teens had a mass gathering, overrunning the place gets me attacked as being negative against Blacks.
At some point, Filled Negro, one must start to evaluate the credibility of the 'Neo-All White Jury" who is viewing these series of events and assigning a priority per his own agenda.

FN, I'm not sure that everyone who protests healthcare reform is a disingenuous wingnut, as you might say. I've seen some of the 1017 page bill and some things there really bother me a great deal and make me wonder about our freedoms. However, I will grant you that the majority of those protesters likely have not read any of the bill! They are simply going along with what Rush, Glen Beck, Palin and the Fox kids tell them to do and that saddens me.
ReplyDeleteHere is a youtube video that goes over some of the bill and highlights important concerns.
I know that some of the tea party goers are racist and foolish; but not all of them. Some of them truly do care about the direction our country is going in, but they've been part of the tea party movement for many years now.
Field: "I know, that photo-shop lynching image is beyond vile. So are all tghe lies about the wingnuts dropping the N word on my man JL. Wait..."
ReplyDeleteYou do know what I mean - associating a lynching with a tea party rally is disengenuous and inflammatory. The response to some random person maybe yelling the N word has been predictable, and it would fit the agenda of people trying to discredit this movement. Who benefits from this story? You should wait until you have all the facts before you string up your scapegoat.
Thrasher,
ReplyDeleteJohn Lewis has paid his dues to Black folk. It has been too long that any young people have stepped up. That generation left a legacy and the last forty years there's been a vacuum, the fighting over ideology while not getting over the Moses complex, waiting for some charismatic person to lead them to their personal vision of the revolution.
Field, you seem to imply that the strange fruits hanging in the photo was done solely by wingnuts. There might have been some but the liberals were very much part of it.
ReplyDeleteThe MAJORITY of Whites-straight and gay-supported Jim Crow laws and hangings of Blacks as deserved justice. It still goes on today except they don't use ropes. Instead, some Blacks are put in prison while others are left unprotected by the police from criminals--and others are literally executed by the police. And, Blacks pay taxes for this to happen to them!
So please, don't forget to include those progressive liberal Whites- whether gay or straight- because it is not just the wingnuts.

Thrasher, it could easily go from a Black man being called a nigger, to a Black man being beaten to death and hanged for good measure by a crowd that's also chanting "nigger".

I can't allow one ignorant White person who purchased a sign from Wal-Mart and then who said the very same word that Jay-Z said on his multi-platinum record to get me to shift my focus.
Sorry. The movement of his vocal chords is not superior to the many other channels where this word can be heard yet the "offense" never appears on the Filled Negro blog because there is no political advantage for you to feature it.
Besides if you did dare treat this offense equally - Low & Country would begin to attack you for daring to assume that Black people must be treated EQUALLY and thus receive the same enforcements.

-This an inaccurate statement that is inconsistent with the history of Black folks over the last 40 years.
-Thrasher in truth there have been lots of young people and black led organizations who have stepped up on behalf and with the black community over the last 40 years.
-I bet if you search your memory you will recall that in the city you reside some young folks have stepped up in some manner to either protest housing discrimination, workplace discrimination, gentrification, police brutality, etc.
- Some have even tried to address the issues of the prevalence of drugs and guns in our inner city communities.
-I think we have to be careful when we make broad generalizatiions like that. I for one have spent a good deal of my adult life in two different cities fighting the good fight.
-I think you also have to mention if you are going to talk about leadership over the last 40 years, that some black folks don't want to be lead and that the majority of black folks can't agree on a direction.
-You also have to acknowledge that many black leaders or would be leaders have had great ideas about the way forward but since they didn't fit the liberal (read Democratic Party pardigm) they were blown off

Anon you miss my point. Thrasher used as a timeline the last 40 years which would include the Panthers, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton et al.
But as I was saying if you read carefully that there were and are in most cities so I am talking locally people who fought the good fight on a local level. I have been to countless national conferences over the las 30 years and have met countless civil and human rights fighters. And no I can't name them all and would be silly to name those I know but I have seen some folks getting it done on the local level.
IN fact over the last 40 years in some cities (the key word is some) there have been chapters of the NAACP the Urban League, SLC and even ACORN getting it done.
I don't like the mandate in the bill for Americans to have to pay for Health Care...But I understand why its needed. However, when you think of it as how we are paying for the uninsured already...the mandate is just putting that shit in writing...
ReplyDelete"Rep Emanuel Cleaver said he was spat upon while walking toward the Capitol. Police arrested the assailant, but Cleaver decided not to press charges."
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Rep Cleaver. He should have prosecuted the scum to the highest extent. Why should this racist feel that he can spit on Black people because he disagrees with them?
Anon 9:57 pm, I don't think you are trying to be an ahole, you ask some good and serious questions.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I might need to do a better job of highlighting some of these people. I don't know about other cities, but here in Philly we have them.
For those who say that Saturday didn't happen its actually a bit worse. According to witnesses including US congresspeople, some congresspeople actually stirred the crowd up.
ReplyDeleteThis is from today's Washington Post;
"The tea-party demonstrators, who had been rallying on the west lawn of the Capitol, migrated to the south to be just outside the House chamber. They chanted "Nancy! Nancy!" and held signs saying such things as "Red Queen Nancy -- Joseph Stalin Was Not a Saint."
That would have been the end of it, had Republican lawmakers not riled things up. First Rep. Buck McKeon (Calif.) came out onto the balcony, pumping his fist in the air and holding a sign that said "KILL." After him came Rep. Rob Bishop (Utah) with a "THE" sign and Rep. Mike Turner (Ohio) with "BILL." The crowd went wild.
Next came Reps. Mary Fallin (Okla.), Geoff Davis (Ky.) and Bill Posey (Fla.) holding the "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Rep. Pete Sessions (Tex.), head of the House Republicans' 2010 campaign committee, came out with hand-lettered signs spelling K-I-L-L T-H-E B-I-L-L. Sessions, holding two L's himself, was joined on the balcony by Reps. Steve King (Iowa), Greg Walden (Ore.), Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Jeanne Schmidt (Ohio), Dan Lungren (Calif.) and many more. Rep. Jeff Miller (Fla.) dangled an American flag from the balcony and waved it back and forth."
-Here is the rest of the story by Dana Milbank:

ReplyDeleteIt's going to get worse for many people, bucko. The middle class is shrinking; jobs are still disappearing; America's power is waning; yet, we need to bring millions of more people into the equation? What are these immigrants going to think when they realize there is no longer any latter up to the middle class?
Field ditto that, there are and have been folks black and from other races doing some great work over the years and you are right they are not publicized.
ReplyDeleteOver the years activists, preachers, journalists, civil rights orgs (yes I know first hand about their shortcomings but even some of them have had radical leaders that got the job done) and organizers have been standing in the gap.
It brings to mind one in particular a Rev. Ed Pinckney who was jailed in Benton Harbor MI for standing up to the abuses of Whirlpool.
There are lots of unsung heros out there I know personally because I have stood shoulder to shoulder with some of them. And trust me without them life would be a little less tolerable.
Anon I bet if you look around or ask around in your city esp if you are in the inner city. And if you aren't ask folks who live in the nearest inner city who has been instrumental in fighting the good fight. Just think about some issues that were raised or something that was proposed and failed because there was an organized resistance and I bet you will find some hard working dedicated activist behind the fight.
Don't mean to be so persistent but I know about these unrecognized and unappreciated fighters. I know about them personally!!
It's telling that a so-called black person who happens to be conservative can't seem to see the cognitive dissonance between his true understanding of the conservative ideals and those that benefit from the subset of that movement that nourishes hate and bigotry from within or underneath.
ReplyDeleteI have been commenting on this blog for a minute now. I believe what I believe. No asswipe anonymous poster can stop me from saying what I think is right. It is simply an opinion. You don't have to read it or comment on it. Deal with it or don't.
The inherent problem with conservatism that it promotes freedom for some at the same time that it limits and arbitrarily imposes limits on actions or pursuits that are not socially embraced by the conservative ruling class.
For example, you can have liberty, except for women and their reproductive rights.
You can have law enforcement, as long as it provides the majority of the citizens comfort and security at the expense of the underclass and people and groups that can be easily subdued or disenfranchised.
You can deliberately fool an populace from meaningful progress in their own lives by convincing them that the other, the blacks, the gays, the liberals, the atheists, are actively participating to destroy this country, while never telling how or why this is occurring.
"Again, what are these "issues"? I have been asking you this for over a year. But still nothing. Just more of the same rant. Black folks in the hood bad, They need conservatives to teach them how to be responsible. Nothing on how we get from A to B. Just that B is bad and A is good. Typical."
That is the essence of you, Constructive Feedback. Field reduced you to your lowest common denominator in one 60 word paragraph.
I like debating with you. I'm trying to educate you, brother. If you were a white guy writing what you write, people would surely think of you as a nativist, or a member of a pro-white supremacy group. You wouldn't and couldn't be taken seriously.
It's like you are Rip van Winkle who fell asleep in 1860, before The Civil war, Reconstruction, The Civil Rights Movement, and the election of Barack Obama, and the shock of what has happened since you were asleep has affected you, leaving you waxing poetic for the days when the simple instructions that the overseer gave you all you needed for the day. When you knew that all you needed was for you to toil for the white man.
There is nothing wrong with fiscal conservatives, people who measure the taxes we spend, where the money goes, and how we enact simple fiscal discipline.
But social conservatives don't care about those things. It's about making sure the "Mexicans" go back across the border, that the blacks don't change the "complexion of the pool", that the gays don't flaunt their "gayness" in the face of simple, down home, God-fearing, "Real Americans" who really just want what's best for America, especially the Whiter parts of it.
Wingnuts, as we have seen copious evidence of in the last 24 hours, are simply racists who are mad that the meek are inheriting the earth.
Mellaneous, "..And no I can't name them all and would be silly to name those I know but I have seen some folks getting it done on the local level."
ReplyDeleteWhy would it be silly to name them? Why do you want to keep such secrets? Everybody knows about Sharpton and Jessie Jackson because 'in the past' they were known for being skillful in using black power and could get things done.
So who do you know on a local level that are skillful and getting things done?
You see, all I hear about are the Rangels, the black congressman in LA who stashed $90k in his freezer, the mayor in Baltimore, etc, and the black political crooks in Detroit who keep ripping off vulnerable black communities. That's what I hear mostly about 40 years later...along with a lot of teen pregnancies and street killings.
So I would love to hear about a few good honest Blacks that you know, from your EXTENSIVE travels across America, that is really making a difference?
I would appreciate to hear about them. It would give me hope.
Anon 10:35 what US city do you reside? I will find them for you.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why Cleaver didn't prosecute that low life racist, unless he felt intimidated and powerless to do anything about it.
It's too bad because it insults the people who elected him and it means black congressmen, are open season for white folks to spit on. And there will be more...
cactusrose, "I think this teabagger thing is getting scarier by the minute! Too much hate, and people in government egging this type of behavior on....."
ReplyDeleteYes. The mindset of Americans are on the volcanic side, that is heating up.
Healthcare has been the lynchpin for racists to take action into their own hands, anyway. Guns at healthcare debates, tea parties, calling the honorable Congressman Lewis the "N-Word" and spitting on Rep. Emanuel Cleaver are mounting volcanic pressures that could explode.
I agree. It is scary, esp for Blacks. It "feels" like something is going to happen and it won't be good. Be glad you are PR.

Mellaneous, "Anon 10:35 what US city do you reside? I will find them for you."
ReplyDeleteWhat difference does it make where I live? Please tell me without regard to geographical location those Blacks across America who have REAL skill, and REAL power like Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, or others 40 years ago had, and could move large groups of people, even masses- locally or nationally.
WHO are those leaders in today's generation?
I am not asking for a list, just a few names. I'll make it easy for you: Just give me two or three names 'anywhere' in the country.
Surely if there are plenty in our black race today as you say, that can't be that hard for you?
I think I get where you are coming from I am not talking about elected officials in fact Thrasher did not mention elected officials she referred to Malcolm X and MLK and national black leaders who were political leaders in the sense that they led outside of the system but were political and leaders nevertheless.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I don't know what you are getting at since you won't tell me where you live, but I'll give you a few in the city of Miami.
Marlene Bastien, Michael Martinez, Max Rameau, Denise Perry, Maria Rodriguez, Gihan Perera, Alyce Gowdy Wright to name a few.
I keep trying to tell you that I have been active in the movement for human and civil rights as well as peace and justice and have been exposed to all kinds of folks doing a good job in their communities.
And my point again is that there are people carrying the load on a local level. This is a fact all you have to do is look around where you live.
The point of the original post by Thrasher that there were no community leaders over the last 40 years I argued that they may not be of the national stature of the Malcolms or the Kings but they nevertheless are being effective.
Unless maybe we are missing each other somehow because you don't believe what I am trying to tell you. I have this information from experience and having met many of them.
We don't have a lot of national leaders that are really moving the crowd.
There are public intellectuals whose opinion is valued by many blacks who could be considered leaders and they are Manning Marable, Cornel West, Ishmael Reed, Rev. Micheal Eric Dyson, the aforementioned Rev. Sharpton and Jackson and to a lesser extent even Tavis Smiley, the organizer of the color of change blog, Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report,(not as well known or acknowledged because he has a more progressive agenda) Juliane Malveaux and some of the folks over at Black Commentator and there are a few others who may not be counted because they are anti-capitalist but nevertheless have done their share to move the race forward.
I sure hope this satisfies your question.
mellaneous and thrahser,
ReplyDeleteYou are both leaving out Louis Farrkahn and the NOI, one of the few groups working with the truly downtrodden among the black race.
Hi quote was right on about Obama this weekend too: "We have a right to expect something from the brother."
"TSC, Mack Lyons and UTS use the N-word routinely in the most derogatory way. Isn't it interesting that no one is offended on this blog, a predominately black blog? You would think at least a few Blacks AND Whites would be offended by those yo-yos, but they remain silent."
ReplyDeleteSeems like you missed a few. Or perhaps you weren't here when Alicia Banks went on her N-word rampage a few blog posts ago. Then again, you probably could care less about actual facts just as long as you could get an insult or two in. "Yo-yos"? I think you could do a bit better than that.
"I don't like the mandate in the bill for Americans to have to pay for Health Care...But I understand why its needed."
I don't, either. Then again, other countries simply pay for it via taxes, but the T-word is the last word anyone, let alone the wingnuts, wants to hear.
"What are these immigrants going to think when they realize there is no longer any latter up to the middle class?"
The Teabaggers think they'll simply pack up and go home. In reality, they'll go back to doing things the way they did back in the old country. Only they'll do it here. A bit hard to explain, but in short, they're not going anywhere.
"But social conservatives don't care about those things. It's about making sure the "Mexicans" go back across the border, that the blacks don't change the "complexion of the pool", that the gays don't flaunt their "gayness" in the face of simple, down home, God-fearing, "Real Americans" who really just want what's best for America, especially the Whiter parts of it."
It's all about maintaining the status quo, circa 1955 or thereabouts. From a certain point of view, the period ranging from the late 1940s up to about 1964 was America's most prosperous and most powerful period. Add to the fact that most of these Teabaggers grew up in those times and well....what to expect? They really want the country they grew up in, as it represents the safest period of their lives -- childhood. Anyone care to drop some more socio-psychological bombs up in this piece?
Mellaneous "We don't have a lot of national leaders that are really moving the crowd."
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information. I did not think there were any upcoming Blacks on local levels who had the skills and power to lead and unify Black America. Otherwise, many would have heard about them.
I understand there are a few Blacks locally in America who are doing good jobs in their community. But there are no leaders locally, or otherwise with the heart, skill or inner power to unify a fragmented Black America.
I appreciate your reply. Thanks.
@ FN:
ReplyDeleteThat's right!!! Post that pic so they never forget.
And...
1. Those kids watching that violence are not just wingnuts, they either committed violent acts themselves as adults or they rebelled against violence.
2. MHO is that Cleaver should have pressed charges.
3. Why do you think he did not press charges?
4. Is the legacy of white America going to be based on how they treated John Lewis his entire life; being called "the N word" and spat on throughout his entire life...? Time tells all...
5. The whole health care debacle is ONLY going on because this black president did what no white one could. Imagine an America where...*ahhh :)*
Peace.
~agape2010~
@ FN:
ReplyDeleteBrainwashed...great read.
And...
That pic looks just like...nah...couldn't be. hahahaha!
And...
Wonder why Wal Mart et al. is protecting the 16 yo kid on the mic? Let me guess...he's...white?
Peace.

"You are both leaving out Louis Farrkahn and the NOI, one of the few groups working with the truly downtrodden among the black race."
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting that on this blog Farrakhan is seldom mentioned? Actually, I cannot recall "one" post in the ENTIRE black blogosphere about Farrakhan. It's as though Blacks are afraid to acknowledge his existence, or his passion for the survival of the black race.
@2:08am
ReplyDeleteYup it seems like blacks are afraid to praise Farrakhan... in the same way we whites are afraid to praise the KKK or their passion for the survivial of the white race. Yup we're kind of in the same boat although blacks can get away with hob-nobbing with the Ebonic speaking KKK but we have to pretend the white KKK are 100% horrible. Yeah, I'm sick of this double standard too.
@2:05am- or else it is because
ReplyDelete1) he is a minor who didn't actually committ a crime. That may be why too.
Here is Seattle we had 7 black teenagers stomp to death an elderly man and their names were not released either. Are you as upset about that? Didn't think so!
"Mellaneous "We don't have a lot of national leaders that are really moving the crowd."
ReplyDeleteAnon, you are right. We don't. Not on a national level. But power is something that is partially created in a media age. As I told you above, the MSM media does not highlight these folks. Just the usual suspects.
blackinalabama, you are welcome. That Negro deserves it.
IN fact over the last 40 years in some cities (the key word is some) there have been chapters of the NAACP the Urban League, SLC and even ACORN getting it done.
ReplyDeleteMellaneous:
When you say "GETTING IT DONE" can you translate your "Mission Accomplished" statement by which you have been lulled into pacification into some OBJECTIVE MEASURE of advancement so that the rest of us who are not on the "Neo-All White Jury" can properly appraise this?
Based on the list of organizations (and your references to Benton Harbor) I suspect that you are talking about THE POOR.
What does ACORN do beside MAINTENANCE of the Poor? What do they do to make these the UN-least of these - when their policies are counter to this so frequently?
It brings to mind one in particular a Rev. Ed Pinckney who was jailed in Benton Harbor MI for standing up to the abuses of Whirlpool.
Mellaneous when his enemy Whirpool pulled out of (or shrunk) in Benton Harbor - WHO did Rev Pinckney STAND UP TO, now that his arch enemy was gone?
Think about it, Mellaneous - in your caustic but perverted outlook YOU attack any force in the aggrieved community that has MOTION aside from the GOVERNMENT. If the corporate employer of these aggrieved human resources are abusers - WHAT do you say of the force that preside over these "Labor Deserts" after your "victory"?
In your perversion you believe that you are PROTECTING the "Least Of These". In truth you (as with Black Disaspora) have your founding based in ALTRUISM while never standing to account for the unintended consequences that you create.
Benton Harbor. Once prosperous. Now some areas can be classified as the "East St Louis - North". Mellaneous when the Whirlpool-type of exploiters were abundant the city was built and a good portion of the people attained middle class status with all of the privileges there in. Now that you have WON - you constantly long for a return of this standard of living but this time leverage the government to assure a living standard that the local economic PRODUCTION can't justify.
Mellaenous YOU are a CAPITALIST no different than those on Wall Street. They were OVER LEVERAGED as well. They like YOU and Jesus took one loaf of bread - a dollar, put it into a basket (derivatives) and turn that one dollar into 6 (the amount that Lehman Brothers were LEVERAGED).
Mellaneous - with regard to the federal treasury - HOW ARE YOU ANY MATERIALLY DIFFERENT than they? You, like they seek to ABSTRACT and OVER-LEVERAGE beyond your means.
You merely cast yourself as operating with some special dispensation. It merely "dispenses" that which is collected on April 15th whereas most other Christians leverage a COLLECTION PLATE passed around their church.
Don't mean to be so persistent but I know about these unrecognized and unappreciated fighters
Mellaneous from what I see in you - YOUR type of fighters keep chasing their enemy even after they have departed the ZONE in question, allowing YOU to leverage the very same land and resources to produce the living standard that you desire.
For you, Black Diaspora, Jody, Low & Country and others - BEING LEFT ALL ALONE and having to produce ORGANIC results among the aggrieved human resources that you have left
among you is the situation that you fear the most.
It's telling that a so-called black person who happens to be conservative can't seem to see the cognitive dissonance between his true understanding of the conservative ideals and those that benefit from the subset of that movement that nourishes hate and bigotry from within or underneath.
ReplyDeleteLow & Country - for me to accept council from a FOOL can only make me FOOLISH.
You are a walking, talking violation of all of the filters that I have set up to TRAP a propagandist like yourself.
Low & Country there are about 40 million Black folks in this nation. About 18 million are voting aged. If a mere 10 percent of us Blacks are EVIL, HATE-FILLED CONSERVATIVES this leaves about 16,200,000 RIGHT THINKING BLACK FOLKS for you to work with.
Low & Country: CALL ME YOUR SUPERIOR!!!!!! The fact that I - a minority is such a threat to you that you spend so much of your time focusing on ME rather than the 9 other Negroes who think in common with you is telling.
I am worth 9 NEGROES Non-Conservative to you!!!! Treat me as such!!!!!!!!
For example, you can have liberty, except for women and their reproductive rights.
We just learned that some fellow perverts believe that RIGHTS should be PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT. Let's break this down.
You are saying ultimately that "ONE CAN'T EXPRESS HIS RIGHTS TO ABORT HER CHILD UNLESS THE GOVERNMENT STEPS IN AND FINANCES THAT WHICH SHE CAN'T PAY FOR HERSELF".
Hitler-Shit painted with flowers!!
If RIGHTS are from God and NO GOVERNMENT SHOULD ABRIDGE THEM. Yet my friend Mellaneous and I believe that A CHILD IS A GIFT FROM GOD and no man will EVER be able to reproduce a FULL HUMAN BEING IN HIS LABORATORY........then we have a black hole in the universe.
YOUR S&M Perversion has us to believe that a woman with a "Gift from God" in her womb - the fact that elements from the earth are cast into LIVING TISSUE and thus hosting a SOUL as it has its "Earth Experience" - this one SPIRITUAL VESSEL has her RIGHTS accentuated if she chooses to CUT ANOTHER VESSEL'S attachment to its NUTRITION SOURCE in her womb!!!!!
Hitler-Shit in its perversion!!!!
You can have law enforcement, as long as it provides the majority of the citizens comfort and security at the expense of the underclass and people and groups that can be easily subdued or disenfranchised.
ReplyDeleteLow & Country - I watched two documentaries about the issues with Street Pirates in Columbia SC and Durham NC. Though, as a Rachel Maddow worshiper you would be inclined to blame their actions on the Red States that they live in - something is askew with your logic.
WHAT OF THE INNOCENT, HARD WORKING CITIZENS who happen to be ensnared in communities filled with Street Pirates? You and others see the Police as the attackers. What happens when citizens from their own community to-damned-day play the role that YOUNG KLAN BOYS did from 60 years ago?
I like debating with you. I'm trying to educate you, brother.
You are not EDUCATING ME about ME.
You are EDUCATING me about YOU!!!
Each time I read your rants I understand how our people and our society as a whole have our consciousness up ended by a person who thinks as you do - BUT believes that he is doing so with some special dispensation and honor.
YOU have hatred no different than the people YOU call "haters". You spend the balance of your time focusing upon THEM than you can speak to what you have done to mold the consciousness within.
Again - the WORST possible scenario for you to face would be if your enemy were to DEPART FROM YOUR MIDST, leaving you all to yourself to try and order a society.
I assure you that you will merely find a new set of CONSERVATIVES to identify out of the group of former Progressives that remained behind. I also suspect that YOU will cast yourself as the source of all light - as you do your {fill in the blank} Chasing exercises that define you.
I don't take instruction from FOOLS lest I become FOOLISH!!!!
Stunning

Never heard of Reed but the rest of the people on the list are known LEFTISTS!!!
The key point that is frustrating with Mellenous is that he is able to bestow the badge of WORTHINESS upon these people who are STRUGGLING yet he is disinclined to MEASURE THEM as he would his adversaries.
Between ALL on this list versus THE WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION
1) WHO has employed more Blacks?
2) WHO has lifted more Blacks to a middle class status?
3) Who has provided the impetus for Blacks to get an education for the benefit of greater responsibility in the job market AND a greater salary?
4) WHO has provided more health care and benefits to Black people?
The problem with Mellaenous is that his CURRENCY is that of PROGRESSIVE INTENT rather than the enumeration of "currency in the bank of living standards".
A person who INTENTS to feed you yet gives you RITZ CRACKERS is a more honorable fellow than a person who has you working DOUBLE OVERTIME with an effective pay rate of $35 per hour when HE sells a product from YOUR LABOR that eventually nets him $20 per hour when all he did was provide the CAPITAL INVESTMENTS for the human being to work within.
The way to expose Mellaenous is to show all of the HOLLOWED OUT SHELLS of buildings that remain where his policies are most entrenched and DEMAND that he turn INTENTION back into FACTORY PRODUCTION!!!!
"Let them eat the CAKE of good INTENTIONS" he says
I have been on the mailing list for several conservative organizations for years now. Last week somebody suggested to me, not in their own words, but just pointing to a YouTube of Keith Olbermann, that the teabaggers are a bunch of racists.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm going to throw out a challenge. Anybody who can come up with the racist codewords in the Tea Party Express emails that I've been getting since late July 2009 will win a prize. Now I have no idea what's in most of these emails. I only read about 5-10% of them. In my mail, 'Tea Party Express' shows up 287 times. So if the Tea Party is racist, you should certainly be able to find the language.
By the way. I also get stuff from 'Our Country Deserves Better' also from Vigeurie's Conservative HQ, plus from David Horowitz and Family Security Matters. I'm on the list of Special Guests, The Center for Security Policy, the John Langston Forum and Bill Wilson's Daily Grind. This is how I keep track of the pulse of the Right. I certainly don't read it all, but I catch the drift and get the flavor.
I expect that those who write stuff like the following get all their information second hand.
Those folks wouldn't pee on you to put you out if you were on fire Cobb, part of that is because you are Black (however deep your sense of linked fate may be), so why defend their nonsense?
So I'm prepared to go open source. Show me the magic words that make these guys racist. If you can pick 'em and they show up in my mail, you win 20 bucks and and admission.
In my mail, 'Tea Party Express' shows up 287 times. So if the Tea Party is racist, you should certainly be able to find the language.
ReplyDeleteCome on Cobb!!!
This is not realistic!!
Just as the Klan now wears Wall Street Banker clothing - THEY ALSO have mastered the "Find and Replace" feature in Microsoft Word!!!
They don't say "Nigra" any more they say "Socialism"
I think your time would be better spent by having the Progressive-Fundamentalists decode some of THEIR words for us:
* The Least Of These
* Not For Profit
* Social Justice
blackinalabama, Booker Rising has been keeping up with Arthur Davis for the past few months selling out his congressional constituents in the bizzaro world belief that some white folks are going to vote for his black ass in November.
ReplyDeleteHell Obama only got 10% of the white vote in 2008 and this year is supposed to be a Republican year. Davis has been smelling himself for a little too long or smoking some of that high quality weed if he thinks that the good white folk of Alabama are going to vote for his Uncle Tommy-ing behind.
CF sez
ReplyDelete"Do you know the key difference between you and your Ignorant Confederate Brothers in South Carolina?
When they call YOU "stupid" you have the power to call them RACISTS for it."
But when they call you "nigger" you grin and then vote the way they tell you too.
So when is Fatass leaving the country?
LMAO!!!!
Cobb
ReplyDelete"Anybody who can come up with the racist codewords in the Tea Party Express emails that I've been getting since late July 2009 will win a prize."
C'mon Cobb.
How long are you black righties going to make excuses for people who openly HATE you and yours???
What do you get out of it?
Those foamy mouthed yahoos gathered at the freakin US Capitol building in 2010 when we have a black President and yelled the word "nigger" at passing black legislators.
Life just isn't fair sometimes..
It would have been poetic justice for about 100 "street pirates" from SE DC to show up to administer a sudden need for healthcare to those stinkin bigots.
Field, I'm so happy that you have a pair and can shine God's flashlight down upon the TeaKlansman. Their behavior was first outrageous and second like the lizard peeling off the mask in V. They are monsters.
ReplyDeleteNow I just wish they would call Rep. Devin Nunes a wetback so he would know how it feels and quit defending them. Because that's how they feel about him.
Anonymous
ReplyDelete"Thank you for the information. I did not think there were any upcoming Blacks on local levels who had the skills and power to lead and unify Black America. Otherwise, many would have heard about them."
Yeah, I guess we'll just have to settle for the President of the United States.
You're a fuckin idiot, you know that?
Damn, CF, you sound pissed. You truly are a wingnut, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteDarth Vader would be more popular in a poll on the planet he blew up than the conservative movement is now.
The wingnuts aren't the majority in this country. They are just a bunch of whiny, racist, low-intelligence pussies who represent a shrinking demographic.
mellaneous,
ReplyDeleteThe quote that you attributed as Thrashers was mine. I was responding to his comment. Just for the record.
Roderick wrote "Obama only got 10% of the white vote in 2008"
ReplyDeleteThis is correct only for Alabama, as far as I could find.
HERE is a chart showing state by state percentages.
Just fyi.
I haven't read all the comments yet but skimming through some of them - this is gonna be good. One of my favorite commenters already had me laughing.
ReplyDelete"Isn't it interesting that on this blog Farrakhan is seldom mentioned? Actually, I cannot recall "one" post in the ENTIRE black blogosphere about Farrakhan. It's as though Blacks are afraid to acknowledge his existence, or his passion for the survival of the black race."
ReplyDeleteAllot of black blogs ( this one included) are allergic to mentioning Farrakhan and the NOI. They are dedicated to the folks who will never be mentioned by Obama, or mainstream society, the most isolated and disadvantaged amongst the black race.
This blog, as well as many other black blogs don't make a lot of mention of 100 Black Men, Inc or the Alliance of Concerned Black Men either.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your point?
blackinalabama, Booker Rising has been keeping up with Arthur Davis for the past few months selling out his congressional constituents in the bizzaro world belief that some white folks are going to vote for his black ass in November.
ReplyDeleteRogue-DEM-Trick:
Please listen very, very, very carefully. I hope not to repeat it again as I abide by the American With Mental Disabilities Act in accommodation for Low & Country.
WHY do you see Davis having STABBED HIS CONSTITUENTS in the back in his REFUSAL to have their STANDARD OF LIVING that is in excess of their PRODUCTIVE CAPACITY to deliver these services, namely by EMPOWERING their people to address their needs
BUT YOU SAY NOTHING(!!!!!) about the fact that in his MAJORITY BLACK district in Alabama - MEDICARE AND MEDICAID are the TWO LARGEST HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS!!!!!
Please someone dispose from me this vision that PROGRESSIVES SEE BLACKS AS INFERIOR!!!!!! You care that they are SERVICED more than you care to DEPLOY THEM!!!
The fact that Medicare and Medicaid are heading toward INSOLVENCY matters NOT - in your perverted view of the world.
Hell Obama only got 10% of the white vote in 2008 and this year is supposed to be a Republican year.
Rogue-DEM-Trick:
If 10% of WHITE FOLKS voting for Obama is proof of RACISM in the other 90%................what is to be said of the NEGRO??
96% voted to APPROVE the machine that ALREADY controls where he lives and reigns over his present grievances.
WHITEBOWIESTEVE - asks me to APPLAUD a Charter school that has 50 Black male graduates going to college. He fails to note that in this school system o 409,000 kids - 87% of them are Black or Hispanic and yet only 52.9% of them will even GRADUATE. If some of the most powerful elements in the DEMOCRATIC MACHINE had their way THERE WOULD BE NO CHARTER SCHOOLS.
IRONICALLY, Rogue-DEM-Trick - the Chicago Urban Prep Charter school SHOULD BE LOOKED AT as facing the very same negative forces that The Tuskegee Institute, 1901 faced.
It was a FRAGRANT FLOWER blossoming in a sea of IGNORANCE. Just as in the Southside of Chicago - certain people who thought the NEGRO TO BE INFERIOR doubted that the school could SUCCEED.
Its SUCCESS would mean that they were PROVEN WRONG!!!!! The Black Man IS INDEED EQUAL!!
What many of you all are are EMPOWER-ERS of GOVERNMENT.
You do this to cover your deep seeded notions of the INFERIORITY of the "Least Of These".
Glenn Beck was WRONG!!!
Don't run from people who talk "Social Justice".
Make sure that you never accept what is in the LADLE of those handing out SOUP to "The LEAST OF THESE".
Like the secretary who one day applies for the MANAGER'S job after having mastered all that her form boss knows - SHE WILL NEVER BE SEEN as anything BUT A SECRETARY and will be asked to GET COFFEE after being rejected by the interviewer.
My point? Farrkhan is one of the most powerful voices in the history of black America. The Alliance of concerned black men, or 100 Black men, for all the good they do, are not in the same historic scope as the NOI or Farrakhan.
ReplyDeleteThe NOI was uplifting blacks back when the NAACP was still trying to pretend that working class blacks didn't exist.
Blogs like "Jack and Jill politics" mention Tavis Smiley constantly, but not the man who got a million black men to Washington. Like no other prominent black man today, Farrakhan speaks truth to white power and he speaks the truth to the condition of black folks in this country. He's heads and tails above Mike Eric Dyson and Cornell West, yet look at all the attention they get.

They use it within the context on the conversation BUT they don't use it as frequently as..never mind, I don't feel the mood to be put on blast today.
Hathro thanks for the ownership of your post.. My premise remains the same being called a nigger is not a newsflash and John Lewis is no greater man than I am..
ReplyDeleteI want Black folks to make a difference 24/7 in everything we do ...
That is my mantra for life
"My point? Farrkhan is one of the most powerful voices in the history of black America. The Alliance of concerned black men, or 100 Black men, for all the good they do, are not in the same historic scope as the NOI or Farrakhan."
ReplyDeleteThe NOI has seen it's better days and has been decreasing in membership for almost 2 decades now.
Farrakhan, like Jesse Jackson, is viewed as a relic by most young black Americans.
You show me one black elected official who openly seeks the political support of Farakhan.
Steve,
ReplyDeleteDo most black elected officals act in the best interest of black america? Of course they don't! They aren't worrying about black folks in the inner city that suffer from fifty percent unemployment rates; they aren't worried about black folks in the ghetto who don't have access to fresh fruit or vegetables; they aren't worried about black men coming out of prison to a lifetime of zero opportunities.
The NOI is concerned about the least among us, black politicans are not.
Most young black Americans are lost in the wilderness. Why do you think there are no young, prominent, blacks who have the voice of the minister? Who is worried about the least among us today?
Hey, Field--I posted about the treasonous behavior of some of our elected officials over at my site today; I really feel that something must be done to quash the irresponsible crap that is feeding--dangerously so!--the most ignorant slice of our population.
ReplyDeletewww.howdowetellourselvesthetruth.blogspot.com
"Do most black elected officals act in the best interest of black america? Of course they don't!"
ReplyDeleteHow does the best interest of black America differ from the best interests of America in general in 2010?
Please explain.
When the CBC chastises Obama for not dealing suffienctly with the "black agenda" are you with them?
Damn, CF, you sound pissed. You truly are a wingnut, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteLow & Country:
Let's go through your rationalization of WHAT I am supposedly pissed over?
You and Mellaneous just ensnared more Americans into the CAPITALISTIC SYSTEM that is present in the belly of the BEAST that you talk about.
Low & Country - the best way to debate against you is to look at what you HATE, extract the framework and then THROW IT BACK AT YOU.
The evil people on Wall Street were guilty of OVER-LEVERAGING their assets. By handing out more speculative loans than what the MONEY IN THE BANK legitimately allowed them to - they got OVER-LEVERAGED to the tune of $6 in loans for every $1 dollar in cold cash they had in the bank.
The house of cards built by CAPITALISM toppled once the underlying assets went into default.
Low & Country I believe that YOU can even see that if ONE person is placed into a house that he can't afford and thus he defaults that when HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people are allowed to increase their STANDARD OF LIVING in the form of home ownership that is beyond their means that by SCALING this abstraction you merely MAKE THE PROBLEM LARGER!!!
Here is where I expose you, Mellanous and others as frauds. Looking back at this situation in the financial markets you attack those who STOOD SILENT and allowed this scheme which eventually drew BILLIONS from the national treasury to go uncontested.
Low & Country, Mellaneous and Black Disaspora - I charge that YOU are no different than the CAPITALISTS from Leman Bros., CitiBank, JP Morgan and Merril Lynch in your CAPITALISTIC LUSTS!!!
The only difference is that you have your sights upon the "crown jewels" of the National Treasury as you OVER-LEVERAGE the ENTITLEMENT SERVICES that you Mau Mau on behalf of that are in excess to the productive capacity of the people that you seek to Entitle.
Though you have expressed HATRED for the Financial Markets as a DEN OF THIEVES - who the hell do you think funds the debt that your abstract and altruistic theories provide. YOU merely seek to "cheese" in front of the picture with the "big check" in hand - patting yourself on your back that YOU CARE MORE for "The Least Of These" than does the people who are seeking to DEFEND AGAINST YOUR THEFT!!!!
You attack the Wall Street Capitalist as being GREEDY. The key difference is that you raid the treasury, thinking that you are Robin Hood and you hand out the services to the "Least Of These", hoping that they will SPEND the one thing of VALUE that they have in a manner that is favorable to you: THEIR BALLOT!!!
ReplyDeleteDarth Vader would be more popular in a poll on the planet he blew up than the conservative movement is now.
Low & Country - I have learned that the best way to challenge YOU and Filled Negro and WhiteBowieSteve is to do a "food inspection" inside of the FORT which encompasses the land that YOU ALREADY CONTROL.
When I attempt to apply the same notions of TRANSPARENCY to them as they seek to hold their enemies to - they will say that I practice "Self Hatred". People don't see that those who seek to PROTECT THE ESTABLISHMENT ORDER behave in the same way - regardless of if they are White Racists in South Carolina 1910 OR
ignorant bigoted Progressives in 2010 living in the same state. The Whites called the Civil Rights protesters "trouble makers" who HATED America. Low & Country and WhiteBowieSteve have stolen these moves from their racist mentors and attempt to use them against ME.
Your strength comes from PUTTING OTHER PEOPLE ON TRIAL and noting their failings of the masses.
We need to open up YOUR FRIDGE and note the rat droppings!!!
You argue that this is one of POPULARITY and thus I would lose.
I take this head on and suggest that the PRIMARY INDICTMENT is not against ME and how the people who THINK LIKE YOU would reject me.........instead we need to look at how THEY SEE YOU AS FAVORABLE yet note that with an array of POPULAR people controlling their key institutions they are no more COMPETENT or ORGANICALLY PRODUCTIVE than in the past.
Here is the perversion of what you are Low & Country: In the past your troops PROTESTED against "Da Man" as he sat in City Hall, the School Board chair or the County Sheriff's seat. NOW that POPULAR PEOPLE are in these seats YET your grievances REMAIN - you are forced to travel GREATER DISTANCES to execute your protests against those who are in power yet threaten you.
Let me ask you Low & Country: WHAT about the local seat of power became INFERIOR so that you no longer focus your protests against the man who sits within?
It is clear that your ideology is NOT ORGANIC. It is a GRIEVANCE BASED "chase" ideology.
THE WORST possible condition for you to be in is having WON your battles yet now you stand on the WEST COAST of the land, looking WESTWARD for more Conservatives to fight.
It is now time for you to TURN YOUR SORRY COUNTRY AZZ AROUND and then learn how to MANAGE the land and the HUMAN RESOURCES that you have already "won".
How does the best interest of black America differ from the best interests of America in general in 2010?
ReplyDeleteThe unemployment rate for black men is double that for white men. A white felon has an equal or even better chance of being hired than a black man with no criminal record. Job candidates with black sounding names are far less likely to be hired.
America's inner cites, disproportionately filled with blacks, are hot beds of crime and unemployment.
A higher percentage of blacks go to the worst schools and live in the worst neighborhoods.
America's prisons are filled with blacks, far out of proportion to the percentage of black Americans in the population. American drug laws are immensely unfair and hit the black community much harder than any other-especially crack cocaine laws.
Blacks have shorter life expectancies than whites as well.
Does that answer your question?
How does the best interest of black America differ from the best interests of America in general in 2010?
ReplyDeleteWhiteBowieSteve:
I would love to see you answer your own question by using the discussions from the "Tavis And Progressive Friend's Gather To Pretend That They Are Now Mad At The Machine That They Help Erect From Da Ghetto Up To Congress and The White House Is Not Listening To Them"
WhiteBowieSteve: These people obviously believe that there is a distinction.
I want to see YOU beat upon them as you do Anon.
Steve, and YOU too Field,
ReplyDeletePlease watch this video. It sums things up all too well.

ReplyDelete"Does that answer your question?"
Now it doesn't pal because most of the issues you are referring to are more class than race driven.
Are you telling me that a middle class black man is more likely to commit a violent crime or die from a chronic disease than his white counterpart?
If so, why?
CF
Tavis is jealous of Obama's success and is committed to attacking him throughout his term.
Seems to me you and Smiley would be buddies right about now.
"Job candidates with black sounding names are far less likely to be hired."
That's out and out racism isn't it?
Yes, Steve, it is out and out racism, but it happens.
ReplyDeleteThose are not class issues. Why? because even amongst the poor, blacks suffer far more than other colors. Why are there so many black men in prison, Steve? Why don't blacks live as long as whites (on the average.) Why is a white felon as, or more likely to be hired as a black man? Why is the black unemployment rate so much higher than the white unemployment rate?
Damn I wish you Anons would get names. I am not able to distinguish between the ignorant ones from the ones that have sense.
ReplyDelete
The unemployment rate for black men is double that for white men. A white felon has an equal or even better chance of being hired than a black man with no criminal record. Job candidates with black sounding names are far less likely to be hired.
Anon #11 - I heard Mario Van Peebles use this argument in his recent documentary. QUESTION: is it your opinion that RACISM IN EMPLOYMENT explains the gap between Black unemployment at 16% and White unemployment which was 7.8% the last time I looked?
Do you see that you note about POOR SCHOOLS but are resistant to interpolate how these schools impact the competency of those who matriculate through them to GET A JOB.
When I point out the fraud of Rogue-DEM-Trick where (effectively) the control over our LOCAL INSTITUTIONS are seen as PROOF OF OUR POLITICAL POWER. Yet this control doesn't translate into more competency -only more evidence that a NATIONAL PROGRESSIVE TAKE OVER IS NEEDED - I wonder if you all use organic CARROTS or do you use pesticides to keep from having to change them upon the stick because the old one has rotted.

Anon #11:
They are ALSO rife with SOCIAL and CULTURAL polices that are pleasing to you and others. In these places DEMOCRATS can get elected. When they are mad at one Democrat they merely replace him with another rather than noting the time for a change of CONSCIOUSNESS.

A higher percentage of blacks go to the worst schools and live in the worst neighborhoods.
In as much as they keep voting for the same school leadership - why are you troubled by this? POPULAR MANDATE allows them to serve.
Anon #11 COOK COUNTY JAIL - in the most Democratic City - CHICAGO is full of BLACK FOLKS and is administrated by a majority BLACK force of guards and administrators.
Short of you telling me that they are all Cousins of Clarence Thomas - WHEN DOES THE INDICTMENT GO UPON YOURSELF AND THE CONSCIOUSNESS THAT YOU HAVE ENGENDERED?
Do you not see that you and other Progressive-Fundamentalists cannot be allowed to PERMANENTLY STRUGGLE!!!????
You need to be forced to MANAGE the lands that YOU NOW CONTROL and the HUMAN RESOURCES WITHIN!!!
Failing to do this we get Mellaneous and Black Diaspora.
American drug laws are immensely unfair and hit the black community much harder than any other-especially crack cocaine laws.
When you tell Black drug dealers to sell POWER instead of CRACK - they won't be ensnared in this law. Instead they see that a busted baggie of powder is hard to separate from the lint in their pockets thus they prefer to sell CRACK. When a baggie bursts they merely pull out their pockets and pick the rock off of the ground.
Have you ever tried to hid POWDER under your tongue as the police search you?

I really can't.
The Negroes who FRONT as if they are the STRONGEST are really the weakest minded one's.

ReplyDelete"Why are there so many black men in prison, Steve? Why don't blacks live as long as whites (on the average.) Why is a white felon as, or more likely to be hired as a black man? Why is the black unemployment rate so much higher than the white unemployment rate?"
The black community has disproportionately more poor folks than whites Anonymous. About 1/4 of the community.
"Why? because even amongst the poor, blacks suffer far more than other colors."
You show me how black ghetto poverty is any different than hispanic barrio poverty?
And I notice that you didn't answer my questions.
And you won't because they will expose you as a fraud.
"So you and Tavis was jealous of Bush?"
ReplyDeleteHow is that question even relevant?
Tavis, Harold Ford, Jesse Jackson and a few others are very angry about Obama coming out of nowhere and winning the Presidency.
They felt that THEY were the most prominent African-Americans and thus should have been the first to ascend to cross-racial acceptance and the highest office in the land.
So instead of congratulatin' they're hatin'.
And it's obvious.
My 75 year old mother in law said just this weekend that Tavis and Jesse need "to just sit down and shut up."
Steve,
ReplyDeleteYou can only see things from a middle class point of view. The VAST majority of blacks are not middle class! Only 13 percent of blacks graduate from college. So, our concern should primarily lie with the other 87 percent. Even among the black middle class, downward mobility is more of an issue than it is among the white middle class.
And what question do you want me to answer again?
Field can I have you acknowledge something for me and anybody else that reads the blog regularly.
ReplyDeleteCF continues to blame the failure of Democratic party lead institutions on me, but I don't support them, either.
I think the cabal of Democratic party elected leaders have let down the black community. And having said that I do believe there have been times throughout the history of the CBC that they have been effective.
I want to declare once and for all that I am not nor have been a member or advocate of the Democratic Party. Nor have I endorsed the policies of the Democratic Party I have however supported candidates that were serious about pushing forward an agenda that was going to look after the interests of the people they are representing.
I am for all practical purposes a radical anti-capitalist. I believe that at best some kind of mixed economy may be the best way for everyone to reach their full potential and be treated as human beings with all of their human righs respected.
CF - you really are talking to Uptown Steve and maybe Trapped and not me most of the time. You have to talk to us seperately we do not have the same philosophy. If indeed you are going to debate you have to know who and what you are debating.
Your rambling on about positions I don't hold is really getting old.
Please govern yourself accordingly in the future.

-CF if you are going to go on and on you do have an obligation to make sense this paragraph above makes no sense. I am not a capitalist by any stretch of the imagination.
-And there is no way you can compare Jesus feeding the multitude to Wall Streets handling of derivatives. Do you know what derivatives are and how they came about.
-Have you no respect for the things that are sacred. To compare Jesus with Wall Street's profiteers efforts to rip off folks and make money on money that doesn't exist, is downright blasphemous.
-Did you not make a big deal on this blog about your being a Christian?
-Are you aware of Jesus teaching on ill gotten wealth? Did you read the conversation Jesus had with Zaccheus?
-Your posts are getting wackier by the day. What are you talking about below? Do you know anything about Benton Harbor? Do you know the history and its relationship to its sister city? Do you know why Whirlpool left?
What is your problem with folks helping or in your opinion trying to help poor folks get a little bit more? Are you really pretending that there is no discrimination in our society or class biases that put poor people behind the eight ball?

Actually UCF you expose your own limited knowledge and thinking.
Are you crazy man? I nor my political perspective, had nothing to do with the policies that undermined and underdeveloped inner cities that resulted in the shells you are talking about. It was the policies of this government and this system that produced what you see. Are you being silly or do you really believe this stuff.
And the shells of former factories are there because they left for places in which they could better exploit the workers. In other words, they left for places where they could pay workers much less than they would have to pay in the US, which-- in case you didn't know is much less than even the US minimun wage.
Where are all your freinds that rush to say that they agree with you and that you spread knowledge on this blog, when you write this kind of false and pure unadulterated gibberish?
I am really starting to believe they follow you because of your consistent put down of black and poor people and anyone or anybody else that would at least try to better their conditions.

They/Like You/And Jesus - The purpose of this segment?
To talk about EXPANSION.
Please note that I did NOT say that "Jesus and the Wall Streeter" had the same PURPOSE. I said the THREE OF YOU did EXPANSION.
Let us put Jesus to the side out of my common respect for him.
I then argued that while the Wall Streeter OVER-LEVERAGED his capital for profit - YOU do the same with the American Treasury in your perverted "Robin Hood Trick".
Here is what proves this to be true. Just as I noted that Black Dispora JUST HAPPENS to practice her Altruism in a land where there is a rich blood supply upon which she can tap her mandibles into - YOU just so happen to be in the same belly.
You see Mellaneous if you were in Laos, but had DOUBLE the passion and consciousness that you now possess with regard to your intent to help the fellow man you would see that it is NOT your Passion, Consciousness that ultimately empowers you to make your list of that which you marched in lock step with.
Whirlpool DOES NOT HAVE A PLANT in Laos to "exploit" people.
Didn't God strip away the assets that JOB had as a means of seeing how he would endure when stripped down to NOTHINGNESS?
Satan challenges Job's integrity, proposing to God that Job serves him simply because God protects him. God removes Job's protection, allowing Satan to take his wealth, his children, and his physical health in order to tempt Job to curse God. Despite his difficult circumstances, he does not curse God, but rather curses the day of his birth. And although he protests his plight and pleads for an explanation, he stops short of accusing God of injustice. Most of the book consists of conversations between Job and his three friends concerning Job's condition and its possible reasons, after which God responds to Job and his friends. God opens his speech with the famous words, "Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me." [1] After God's reply, Job is overwhelmed and says, "I am unworthy - how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth." [2] Then Job is restored to an even better condition than his former wealthy state, and lives for another 140 years.
It bothers me, still, when I witness the amount of hatred this country has for minorities. Man. It's just really really unspeakable. I understand, yet I really do not understand why people have to take it there with the in-your-face hatred.

I disagree Thrash.
ReplyDeleteThis bigtime stuff.
Which is exactly why the wingnuts have gone GQ (general quarters).
Damn CF, you're trying to take AB's spot as the most prolific poster.

Or as you would write it,
It's about QUALITY, not QUANTITY, dude. When the LEAST OF THESE posters work for the BENEFIT of DAMAGING POLICIES that conflict with their PERMANENT INTERESTS, then and only then, I WOULD ACCEPT the PREMISE of writing shorter POSTS.
Thrasher, this is really big time stuff. People have been fighting for healthcare reform and regulation at least since Teddy Roosevelt. Yes its private insurance tweaks and the forms of 'single payer' we all fight for. But, there are some significant changes:
ReplyDelete1. Your kids can stay on your policy until 26. Huge for young people who end up with low rung jobs with crappy coverage or none at all.
2. the Insurance industry can't kick you off the rolls for pre-existing conditions. HUGE!!
3. The Insurance Industry must use 80% of the money they charge you for actual healthcare. That's major, fam!!
4. By law, the Industry can not jack up rates without government oversight and sign-off. (Barring rates of inflation)
5. The Industry loses the ability to cap payments for illness -- which should make anyone with a chronic ailment jump for joy.
Yes, its rather paltry and forces young people into the pool of insurants by law. But, we also force every American male over 18 to list in selective services, eventhough the draft has been dead six Nixon. And insurance premiums are based upon how many people pay -- hence the more people in the system the cheaper the cost.
One small step for Obama, one giant leap for those fighting for health care reform.
CF you just made my point. You try so hard to ignore the reality around you that you make yourself crazy tying yourself in knots trying to explain away the obvious. Its kind of pitiful.
ReplyDeleteLet's look at another CFism; Someone pointed out the injustice of the drug laws that give more time to possesors of crack than those caught with equal amounts of cocaine. CF's response was the following:
"When you tell Black drug dealers to sell POWDER instead of CRACK - they won't be ensnared in this law."
-Now you would think there would be a more reasonable answer coming from someone who always claims to believe in black empowerment.
-What he should have said is that black young folks need to stop using and dealing drugs and that continuing to do so keeps them from realizing the community's full potential.
-A person who really cared would have questioned why there are two tiered and discriminatory drug laws. Since he has said in earlier posts that he is at least opposed to systematic and institutional racism.
- really passionate person concerned about the black community, would have expressed disgust with the entire drug war, which turned out to be a war on the poor and black communities.
-He/she would have expressed opposition to the mandatory minimum sentences that lock up our youth, who were caught just using crack or cocaine. Some of them were merely casual users, who actually were living somewhat productive lives.
-This caring person would have protested the laws that have ensnared a lot of young black women who have been jailed for being accessories, when they merely lived with or near the accused or were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
-A person concerned about the plight of the black community would have said: 'lets get to the bottom of this.' 'Lets try to figure out how to keep the drugs out of our neighborhood.' 'Lets find out where they are coming from and lets confront the very seat of power that is turning a blind eye to the importation of this poison.'
-This compassionate person would at least complained about it to his Congressperson, or write about it but they would say something.
-And finally this compassionate person would try to work in their community to make sure that the kids had every opportunity to succeed, so that drugs would not be such a lure to them and drug dealing would not be seen as an option.
-I would think that one of the first things this person would think of is working to make sure that the kids in his community got the best education possible.
-The schools aren't working because they are being run by some quasi-democratic liberal machine they say, then they would roll up their sleeves and see what they could do about changing the educational system, so that these kids would have a chance.
-But is this what the conservator attempts to do, no he implies that they stay mired in their condition and just be slicker and more adept and just don't get caught.
Hmmm!!
Thrasher what do you mean when you say Obama did a superb job? I mean he didn't get Universal Health Care passed nor did he advocate for it. This bill falls far short of making sure every American has access to health care.
ReplyDeleteAll this fuss was a big smoke screen. Kind like all the great expectations that the Obama presidency brought about. IN the end it is much ado about the same old same old. Only this time its in black face.
As some of my friends have said I would rather have a black person in charge of America dropping bombs on Iraqis and Afghanis and bailing out banks, and maintaining this system of oppression and exploitation. At least he looks like me.
But back to the health care ballyhoo. In the end it did allow the ruling class to galvanize a bunch of working class folks to work against their own best interests.
The ruling class actually began the initial stages of organizing a neo right wing that will defend its interests in maintaining racism, sexism and homophobia rather than what it should be interested in which is how to make sure they can put food on their table.
And they should have been figuring out that helping put food on a neighbors' table doesn't keep them from eating.
Field:
ReplyDeleteUnderstand, fear is sometimes the soil that inferiority grows in, and produces the weeds of insecurity, negativity, and stupidity.
Knowing this, we must not water those weeds with our own anger; but concentrate on our own garden, and not allow the weeds of despair choke us.
"Mellaneous "We don't have a lot of national leaders that are really moving the crowd."
ReplyDeleteNot a lot. But we have one that is galvanizing blacks politically and socially, although he won't be credited for doing so, because he's not seen as just a black leader, but a leader of all the people--and that's our president, Barack Obama.
His impact on the black community, and on the future of black and white communities, can be minimized, but that will not change the impact.
Barack Obama's rise to the highest office in the land is inspiring a whole new generation of young black men and women, and reinvigorating community efforts all across this land.
This black leadership, grounded not just in words, but foundationed* in actions, and extraordinary achievements, is the fire that will, in time, cause a conflagration of black achievements and accomplishments.
Perhaps not in my lifetime or yours, but we will begin to see sparks of this new beginning in the not too far-off future.
Obama's rise has freed up the energy of all blacks, who can now say there's no height they cannot reach, individually and collectively, and no height to which they cannot aspire.
When black leadership comes from the very top, it can eclipse the light of lesser stars.
And for the record, there are local, and some national, black groups, and organizations working hard in the trenches to make a difference in the black community.
Rather than challenging those here to produce a list, as some have done (I have one. I've been compiling it for a time.), do your own research.
These organizations and groups are a tireless bunch, and they're working at the grassroot level (where it's really needed) watering and fertilizing the growth of a new black America, one community at a time.
*The word is catching on.
LACoincidental said... "One small step for Obama, one giant leap for those fighting for health care reform...."
ReplyDeleteYou said it best: It's just a beginning, but every major piece of social legislation that we now enjoy, Medicare, Social Security, the Civil Right Act--all had humble beginnings.
This bill will be improved upon over time, if it's not struck down by a conservative Supreme Court looking to backup a Republican agenda.
Some State Attorney Generals are already scrambling to be first with a legal challenge to this Bill, and it hasn't as yet been signed into law.

Please black diaspora do tell, about these actions that have indeed made life in North America better for working class folks.
I agree that just the fact that a black man has achieved highest office will inspire some.
But time will tell on the other graniose things you think it will acheive. Time will definitely tell.
BTW I was asked for the list of black leaders by an anon
I just love these acts of christianity the teabaggers are showing.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find deliciously ironic is that the government for which they hold so much disdain, but want to control so badly and make a theocracy, is now mandating that they act in a christian manner toward their neighbor, i.e. help each other with their healthcare needs.
Clearly this is not the same as the end of legalized oppression of an entire race of people in thier own nation.health care reform is not remotely the same as the outcomes created by the civil rights movement..
ReplyDeleteThis is an expansion of private contractual benefits not the creation of civil rights..
Obama enhanced a private industry by leveraging the power of the government there was already in place a health care foundation..
The aggregate and collective achievement of Black folks in our nation was already in play before the emergence of Obama..Obama is a outcome of the Black civil right movement ..Obama is the continued evolution of legendary tale of Black folks in a nation that enslaved us, castrated us, lynched us , jim crow us, disparated treatment of us, profiled us, gerrymandered us, ...
And my point is that you have to start somewhere, Thrasher. We have effectively made healthcare a right of citizens, and not merely an option of employers' whims.
ReplyDeleteThe reason, mellanous, for not backing a healthcare for all strategy is because its doomed to fail.
First, the left is so fractured and disorganized, it can't offer real organized front ala The Tea Party (OK, the Tea Party are mostly corporate flunkies leading around the gullible and scare, but hey, can't knock the hustle.) to support Single Payer of a Public Option. Until the traditional left works in coalition to promote its idea -- watered down steps forward is what we'll get.
Second, between being complete whores for the insurance industry (Lieberman, our own VP, etc.) most Conservative Democrats are scared feces-less of a general election challenge from the Right.
Third, which is related to point #2 is that most of middle American simply doesn't understand public policy or the neccessity of regulation to clean-up anything. Hell, it was the ultra-conservative Italian PM who suggested stringent international banking policies, not Obama. While Europe understands the concept of the public good, Americans are simply too hyper-individualist to see beyond their own paycheck and front porch.

there is absolutely no truth to this statement.
LAC,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your talking points and I support them..I do not agree that the expansion of private health care benefits is the same as end of legal racism and exclusionary pratices for Black americans..
Truth is in our nation's history even Black folks that were millionaries were not afforded the right to full citizenship in our nation..
Healthcare reform is great but again let's now engaged in revisionist history...Reminds me of the nonsense that the Clinton's use when they claimed that MLK was not that important propaganda during the 2008 presidential election

Someone has put a face on the facist right-wing(nut)faction: These are the grandchildren and children of those who witnessed/participated in the lynchings that continue to stain the fabric of this republic. Someone needs to call them out on this. These neo-facist right-wingnuts are rabid about a return to that 'great Ameri-kkk-a' when our cousins were lynched for sport and entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI am curious as to how these lizard-lipped crusty crackers are going to handle the emerging and righteous demands of our brown brothers and sisters for meaningful immigration reform. That will be ironic: Latinos forcing facist zealots and liberal enuchs in DC to practice bipartisanship. Can't wait for the facist repugnicans to tell Latinos "No..."

ReplyDeleteWhiteBowieSteve:
Artur Davis' comments and Adlerman Tillman's statements should give you a clue:
Davis:
Alabama's Davis represents the only majority black congressional district in Alabama. The 7th District, which includes parts of Birmingham and west Alabama, also is one of the poorest in the country.
Davis said he has more constituents living on Medicare and Medicaid than private health insurance,
Despite this THERE IS NO PROOF that Davis or any of the PROGRESSIVES that control the district has REACHED OUT TO TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY to insure that MORE PHYSICIANS ARE CREATED to Service The Community.
WhiteBowieSteve: The tale of the TUSKEGEE Syphilis Study has more POWER in the annals of Black Conspiracy Theories than does ANY ONE PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT that you can point to that leverages TUSKEGEE to SOLVE DAMNED PROBLEMS in the community.
HEY MELLANEOUS - Can you tell me WHAT ABOUT THE SMART BLACK PEOPLE at Tuskegee and Alabama State University that disallowed THEM to jump off of the tracks of AMERICAN CAPITALISM and instead be TRAINED UP to be PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PROVIDERS in the Artur Davis District In Alabama?
SECOND - STORY!!!
HEY FILLED NEGRO!!!!!!!!! From the "Tavis And My Progressive Friend's We Plan To Vote For Obama And There Is NOTHING We Can Do About It Because We Want New Commemorative Plates In 2012 Conference"
Chicago alderman Dorothy Tillman, an early supporter of then-candidate Barack Obama, observed:
We have a responsibility to bring the question to the President of the United States. When you look at black people today, I’ve never seen black folks so fearful and scared. Black folks are in pain. And this is the first time since we’ve been in this country that we’ve been in pain and scared to do something about it.
HEY FILLED NEGRO!!!!
1) Dorthy Tillman - CHICAGO
2) One of 49 out of 50 DEMOCRATIC Aldermen (and if that one Republican doesn't watch his back - his azz will be gone as well!!)
3) Black folks be scared but the TEA PARTIES did not gather in ORD to have a lynching party
4) Black folks are scared yet Bush is no longer president
FILLED NEGRO - What are you going to do to APPEASE SCARED BLACK PEOPLE??
ANSWER: Wait until some WHITE MAN or MICHAEL STEELE says something that is worthy of SELF-CHUM and get him quickly upon your FRONT PAGE!!!!
MALLANEOUS, first let me ask, what is your problem Black man? I am Sick and Tired of you Attacking this Black President! I have noticed, each and every chance you get, you are trying to make him Look as if he has Failed! you say, you are a Black man, well, you have Failed to prove, that this President is just another average President, have you noticed, in the end, he seem's to come out Victorious over his Adversary's! notice how he is alway's in Battle? and it is his Enemy's, that are left Confused! I see, you have chosen to be, One of the President's Adversary's!
ReplyDeleteYou seem to think, a Black President, can come into office and make a bunch of undercover Racist Democrat's and Republican's fall in line! it is by the Grace of God, this Black man, is yet standing! and you, as a so(called Black man) want's to Persecute this Black President? are you Blind Naturally and Spiritually?

This is so frustrating. Some of you will never know.
ReplyDeleteThe world according to Black Diaspora: (Seriously how many Obama trinkets do you have in your house?)
His impact on the black community, and on the future of black and white communities, can be minimized, but that will not change the impact.
I get the sense that the same thing was said about the mayor, school board, city council president, county board, US House Chair, Governor.
Black Disapora you are standing on the WEST COAST and trying to blow hard enough to freeze the water so you can keep trekking forward using the same scheme.
Barack Obama's rise to the highest office in the land is inspiring a whole new generation of young black men and women, and reinvigorating community efforts all across this land.
Wait, wait, wait. Again - look at what these same COMMUNITIES did after the other "First Blacks". Ask Filled Negro if Wilson Goode "inspired him".
This black leadership, grounded not just in words, but foundationed* in actions, and extraordinary achievements, is the fire that will, in time, cause a conflagration of black achievements and accomplishments.
Black Disapora - MY ONLY interest is to get you and BLACK LEADERSHIP ensconced into an EVALUATION REGIME by which your "Disney Magic" is turned into a "Performance Appraisal Plan".
Perhaps not in my lifetime or yours, but we will begin to see sparks of this new beginning in the not too far-off future.
I get the sense that you see this as your version of the "I've been to the mountain top" speech. Did you have a premonition?
Seriously B.D. - do YOU think that there is some mandate that Black people support THIS PARTICULAR "Black Establishment"? In your mind WHAT CAN THEY DO to get FIRED?
Obama's rise has freed up the energy of all blacks, who can now say there's no height they cannot reach, individually and collectively, and no height to which they cannot aspire.
Black Diaspora - can we agree that the White folks of Alabama were figuring that John McCain was of similar importance to them but you label them RACISTS?
I told you yesterday - I FEAR YOU!!!
* Energy
* How high should we jump Mr Prez?
* You ASPIRED me so much that I filled out my 2012 ballot along with my Census. Thanks to you - you have given me that 2/5ths that was stolen from me. Is there anything I can do for you. (blink, blink, blink) Mr. President? Michelle is in Portland today I read somewhere.
Hey WhiteBowieSteve - is there such a thing as a Black person being SOLD OUT TO BARACK OBAMA?
Black Disapora is as close as I have ever saw. Well then again Roland Martin has a television show. He reaches far more people than does the Filled Negro Blog. He beats B.D. based on expansiveness which trumps commitment.
Wow. A bunch of dumb negroes opining simultaneously why there is no black leadership and how the passage of healthcare reform is no big deal. You people are too dumb to be led anywhere. You don't understand the impact on the economy of the current healthcare system and by extension how it affects black people.
ReplyDeleteAnyone engaged in community activity knows where the black leadership is and doesn't have to ask such a dumbass question.
As for the million man march, that event was organized almost entirely by black women. The men just showed up, threw their fists in the air for a day, went home and did nothing. Farrakhan gave an exhaustingly demented speech on numerology and confirmed his status as a superstitious lunatic.
-Now you would think there would be a more reasonable answer coming from someone who always claims to believe in black empowerment.
ReplyDeleteSo you are saying that you have never seen POWDER on the streets of Benton Harbor because it couldn't be reclaimed? I bet you never saw a LOOSE ROCK!! It can be picked up.
-What he should have said is that black young folks need to stop using and dealing drugs and that continuing to do so keeps them from realizing the community's full potential.
WHY? Waters is focusing on getting the CIA to stop their shipments.
-A person who really cared would have questioned why there are two tiered and discriminatory drug laws.
I know that Filled Negro's CHUM has a special "Negro afro-disiac" contained within. You have NO PROOF that Blacks are chemically or GENETICALLY attracted to crack.
- really passionate person concerned about the black community, would have expressed disgust with the entire drug war, which turned out to be a war on the poor and black communities.
Mellaneous - when YOU get arrested for Drugs because a cop planted them on you - then I will change my ways.
-He/she would have expressed opposition to the mandatory minimum sentences that lock up our youth, who were caught just using crack or cocaine. Some of them were merely casual users, who actually were living somewhat productive lives.
You are correct Mellaneous. I should have expressed more contrition.
-This caring person would have protested the laws that have ensnared a lot of young black women who have been jailed for being accessories, when they merely lived with or near the accused or were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Lesson Learned - when you see a STREET PIRATE - run the other way. They lie and they stink.
Oh well - as a resident Father my children are demanding some dinner.
Gotta go.
- myths about The Black Community. Somebody said the overwhelming majority of black Americans are not middle class. Maybe not in your neighborhood, but in the country as a whole, the majority of black Americans are middle class.

"Understand, fear is sometimes the soil that inferiority grows in, and produces the weeds of insecurity, negativity, and stupidity.
ReplyDeleteKnowing this, we must not water those weeds with our own anger; but concentrate on our own garden, and not allow the weeds of despair choke us."
That's a very nice quote. Very inspirational. But, (and I think I can speak for most blacks on this blog) since I don't feel inferior, I am not insecure, and I am not a hater, I don't think it applies here. Now angry, that might be a different story. But anger channelled in the right way can be a good thing.
CF, I just saw a commercial on television that reminded me of you. The guy actually challenged himself to a stare down in the mirror.:)
You believe in heaven, right? Assuming you get there, if you see black folks up there, will you kindly ask god to allow you to leave?
"FILLED NEGRO - What are you going to do to APPEASE SCARED BLACK PEOPLE??"
Tell them to get a dog.
Cobb,I would love to pick apart those wingnut e-mails you have been getting. But you did not provide a link. So I can't tell just what kind of code words they were sending your way.
ReplyDelete"HEY MELLANEOUS - Can you tell me WHAT ABOUT THE SMART BLACK PEOPLE at Tuskegee and Alabama State University that disallowed THEM to jump off of the tracks of AMERICAN CAPITALISM and instead be TRAINED UP to be PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PROVIDERS in the Artur Davis District In Alabama?"
ReplyDeleteHey CF the creation of the Tuskegee Institute and Alabama School for Colored People and then Alabama Colored Peoples University and then Alabama State Teachers college for Negroes now Alabama State are actually good examples of the black community working together to create something to better themselves in spite of opposition.
There were no tracks to jump CF they were established with very little help from the capitalist ruling class neither on the local level or the national.
Booker T Washington and an ex slave started Tuskegee in 1881 with just $2,000 from the state of Alabama which was to cover teacher salaries. Washington scraped up the land and everything else from the black community.
The Lincoln Normal school which would become Alabama state was started by Nine ex slaves (the Marion Nine)in 1867 with the help of some Northern Missionaries and little to no help from the government, while white institutions were in fact getting state and federal government assistance.
The state of Alabama did allocate $10,000 for land to help the Alabama Colored Peoples University to get off the ground in 1887. This was one of the last bits of help it got at the end of reconstruction. The land was donated by black Montgomery citizens and the school was established at I believe the Buelah Baptist church in Montgomery.
Ironically old Booker T didn't take a real liking to the school in Montgomery because he felt it took dollars away from his Institute. But as it turned out black folks needed all they could get.
And another tidbit. When the students and faculty-- of what was then the Alabama State College for Negroes --got involved in the Civil Rights movement the state actually cut their funding and moved to decertify them. They got back their accredidation in 1967 and became ASU in 1975 finally getting its own board.
Just maybe I could understand your slavish devotion to capitalism if was at least inclusive.
But its simply not made that way. There is much more profit in dividing folks.
I am suggesting, FN, that someone on top of the
ReplyDeleteracial zeitgeist would know the code words ahead of time, and that a search would take one straight to it.
Maybe I can generate a word-cloud and compare it to your comments.
Isee Isee clearly we disagree but because I don't agree with you does not make me, not black.
ReplyDelete-You really have no idea how black I am and I have not sat on the couch most of my life, but have been right in the front lines that have helped a lot of black folks and other folks, with my black self.
-I do have the right to disagree with you, I hope. I mean folks disagree with me all the time, but I still allow them to be black. (lol)
-But I will live with the diss (you have always come off as a sincere sister) and you have no way of knowing who I am and what I have done. And while I have never held elective office I have helped move legislation and policy that elective folks have moved on.
BTW I stole ballyhoo from Al Sharpton. And just so you know I am journalist as well.
But I will say my opposition to brother Obama is not about black or white. It is not personal sister so lets take that out of the equation.

ReplyDeleteThat's Funny!
I see I see said:
ReplyDeleteYou have a nerve to be Criticizing the HEALTH CARE BILL!
Here is why I opposed the Health Care Bill.
-I believe that what we need is Universal Health Care, which provides Health Care for anybody who needs it. All and I mean all of the developed world has Universal Health Care that includes all of Europe and Canada. And even Cuba which is a Third World country has free health care.
-That is free health care that when you go to the doctor they treat you without any static. Whatever the problem is you get help.
-Now of course you have to pay a little more in taxes, but you can't be denied coverage like the private insurers can do now and may still be able to do with new reform bill. And it doesn't cost that much more in taxes.
-And part of the way they pull it off is they regulate -that's a bad word to many businesses- but they regulate the entire health care industry so that the industry including the doctors, medical supplies and medical technology industry and the pharmaceuticals can't rip off the public.
-This is just a humane way to make sure that when you are sick you get help. I think you would agree that Gods' children should get help when they are sick, no matter their social status. Jesus was pretty concerned about the sick.
-This is a no buts or ands about it. Now some folks will say but they (people with Universal Healthcare) have problems too. Every human institution will be imperfect.
-I challenge folks to talk to folks in Europe or Canada and see how many folks want to go back to privatized medicine.
-Like one Canadian said on a news program recently, " they pissed and moaned about socialized medicine until they got it and they love it, it would be easier to take away Santa Claus than Universalized Medicine."
-My problems with the Health Care Reform bill is twofold:
-1) it leaves in the hands of the same insurance providers our health care. These were the same folks who were screwing it up before. I don't trust that overnight they are going to get it right
-2) the reason for big business to exist is to make money and to make as much money as it can. I don't see any garauntees that this bill will stop the price gouging that has been going on. And I know that there are provisions supposedly to hold down the costs of health care buy my experienc in North America is that big business has always found ways around laws and regulation.

Until the traditional left works in coalition to promote its idea -- watered down steps forward is what we'll get.

i don't know if you just don't want to talk to me, or you missed what i said, but i will try again and add a bit more:
the "left" is doing just fine, thank you very much. and i'd like to point out that we are not a monolith, a concept with which i am sure you are familiar: the "left" is not 100% behind a single payer system. never have been, never will. it's not about courage it was about consensus, and doing what could be done. have you missed the part that OPM (office of personnel management) contracting with two national plans that must take all comers, and one must be a non-profit? that is in the house bill.
i'm wondering if you -- many of you -- are in denial about what just passed. was it the right that passed it? i think not.
there is a new group tho i think they are wasting political capital focusing on "civility," called the coffee party.

"Please black diaspora do tell, about these actions that have indeed made life in North America better for working class folks."
Obama landing the biggest and most important job in the country is achievement and accomplishment enough to inspire the achievements of which I speak, but let me respond to your real question, and not to the substance of my statement:
The passage of this Health Care Reform Bill stands on its own merit.
But there are also provisions for school construction, an enhancement of Pell Grants, and tax credits for small business to the tune of more than 30%, and in a few years as much as 50%.
"Small businesses...have created roughly 65% of all new jobs over the past decade and a half."
"Small businesses are responsible for 39 percent of GNP."
"Small businesses employ 54.4 million people, about 57.3 percent of the private workforce."
And more help for small businesses are on the way from the Obama adminstation, despite resistance from the Repubs.
In addition, many other actions targetting the middleclass have made life better for them, but have also served to prevent disaster:
In just a little over a year, the president has accomplished the following, and this is not an exhausitve list:
Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act
Cash For Clunkers Extension
Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act
Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009
Helping Families Save Their Homes Act
Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act
Signed: Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Omnibus Public Lands Management Act
Small Business Act Temporary Extension
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
You'll have to research each specific Act for their particular benefit, but I think we're all better all because of them.

Sorry Cobb, no one here is that high up on the chain. BTW, watch those German phrases, they tend to make us progressives a bit nervous. ;)
Cobb,
ReplyDeleteThe majority whites in america are not middle class, so how can the majority of black be?
From american middle class wikipedia
" sociologists such as Dennis Gilbert of Hamilton College commonly divide the middle class into two sub-groups. Constituting roughly 15% to 20% of households is the upper or professional middle class consisting of highly educated, salaried professionals and managers. Constituting roughly one third of households is the lower middle class consisting mostly of semi-professionals, skilled craftsmen and lower level management. Middle class persons commonly have a comfortable standard of living, significant economic security, considerable work autonomy and rely on their expertise to sustain themselves.
Everyone wants to believe they are middle class...But this eagerness...has led the definition to be stretched like a bungee cord — used to defend/attack/describe everything...The Drum Major Institute...places the range for middle class at individuals making between $25,000 and $100,000 a year. Ah yes, there's a group of people bound to run into each other while house-hunting".
Without REAL structural economic change, a new black community will not arise.
ReplyDeleteDr. E. Faye Williams was co-chair of the Million Man March. You don't really believe someeone in a bow tie put together a team to plan and execute the logistics of the MMM, do you? It's a rhetorical question. Of course you don't.
ReplyDelete
You believe in heaven, right? Assuming you get there, if you see black folks up there, will you kindly ask god to allow you to leave?
ReplyDeleteFilled Negro - as an AGNOSTIC and a non-believer in Christianity WHY do you speak to me about HEAVEN?
Think about it - IF I am as you molest and mischaracterize me as then all of my GRAND-MOTHERS and GRAND-FATHERS (great and otherwise) will not be in heaven - LOOKING DOWN ON ME RIGHT NOW - guiding me in my struggle to get the present day Negro to STOP accepting his "Toby-fication" that many of the policies that you support have him to be.
Seriously Filled Negro - when you hear that in Aurtur Davis' has more people on Medicare and Medicaid than on insurance that they have paid for via their own personal economic productivity - DESPITE having a full slate of favorable elective officials running their institutions (well except Davis in your book) SHOULD I look and see PROGRESSION in this place OR should I ask YOU and others:
"I know that you are a Progressive. I am curious as to WHERE you are having us PROGRESS to?"
Obama landing the biggest and most important job in the country is achievement and accomplishment enough to inspire the achievements of which I speak, but let me respond to your real question, and not to the substance of my statement:
ReplyDeleteThe passage of this Health Care Reform Bill stands on its own merit.
Black Diaspora: Though I FEAR your way of thinking - none of this is personal against you.
I believe that YOU represent the "Neo-All White Jury"
Your EVALUATION standards are based upon WHO YOU SEE at the Defendant's table rather than with regard to any particular STANDARD that can endure between a HATED defendant and one that you CONNECT with.
Why do you focus on OBAMA but not the MACHINE that he sits atop of?
YOU praise the passage of this so-called Health Care reform which merely calls for more money to be sent into RESOURCE POOLS.......you point to PELL GRANTS but can't point to MORE PHYSICIANS coming out of the school systems that the MACHINE that Obama sits atop off are in control.
If I could get YOU and others to make one change - it would be to shift from the ONE MAN named "Obama" and instead focus upon the MACHINE that he sits atop and and where it is most entrenched.
Then when you see certain operatives going to the White House demanding JOBS - you can then note their RESIDENTIAL ZIP CODES and determine why after they have taken control over the economic policies that the aggrieved people live - THEY are allowed to walk out of these communities and demand that the LEADER OF THIS SAME MACHINE produce jobs for them.
You indeed deal with a stacked deck Black Diaspora.
Anon. The US Census is not run by snarky liberal college professors out of Hamilton College.
ReplyDeleteIt's rather simple, and only that breed of liberal would try to confuse the issue. If you're not in poverty and you're not rich, you're in the middle class.
"You don't really believe someeone in a bow tie put together a team to plan and execute the logistics of the MMM, do you?"
ReplyDeleteAnon. as someone who rocks an occasional bow tie with my suits, I resemble that remark. :)
If you're not in poverty and you're not rich, you're in the middle class.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever heard of the working class?
"The majority of workers are not paid to share their thoughts and ideas as much as professionals. They are commonly closely supervised and do not enjoy a great deal of independence in their jobs. They are also not commonly paid to think, and their thoughts are not often sought by their employer organizations or clients, which leads to a lack of influence."
That is the majority of Americans.

Because we want the country to go beyond where it has been in the past. We want to make a clean break from what it has been in the past.
What Obama should have been saying was: Hey, wait a while. The banks aren’t poverty stricken. The CEOs aren’t poverty stricken. But there are people who are out of work. There are people who can’t pay their mortgages. Let’s take $700 billion and give it directly to the people who need it. Let’s take $1 trillion, let’s take $2 trillion."

"I' ve been searching hard for a highlight. The only thing that comes close is some of Obama's rhetoric; I don't see any kind of a highlight in his actions and policies.
As far as disappointments, I wasn't terribly disappointed because I didn't expect that much. I expected him to be a traditional Democratic president. On foreign policy, that's hardly any different from a Republican--as nationalist, expansionist, imperial and warlike. So in that sense, there's no expectation and no disappointment. On domestic policy, traditionally Democratic presidents are more reformist, closer to the labor movement, more willing to pass legislation on behalf of ordinary people--and that's been true of Obama. But Democratic reforms have also been limited, cautious. Obama's no exception. On healthcare, for example, he starts out with a compromise, and when you start out with a compromise, you end with a compromise of a compromise, which is where we are now.
I thought that in the area of constitutional rights he would be better than he has been. That's the greatest disappointment, because Obama went to Harvard Law School and is presumably dedicated to constitutional rights. But he becomes president, and he's not making any significant step away from Bush policies. Sure, he keeps talking about closing Guantánamo, but he still treats the prisoners there as "suspected terrorists." They have not been tried and have not been found guilty. So when Obama proposes taking people out of Guantánamo and putting them into other prisons, he's not advancing the cause of constitutional rights very far. And then he's gone into court arguing for preventive detention, and he's continued the policy of sending suspects to countries where they very well may be tortured.
I think people are dazzled by Obama's rhetoric, and that people ought to begin to understand that Obama is going to be a mediocre president--which means, in our time, a dangerous president--unless there is some national movement to push him in a better direction."

"Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. I think that it’s quite telling that he would give personal responsibility speeches to black people, but not a lot of personal responsibility speeches to Wall Street in terms of execution. And when you actually look at the degree to which issues of accountability for poor people—but where’s the accountability when you’re bailing out these Wall Street elites, $700 billion? That’s socialism for the rich. That’s your policy. Don’t then go to these folk who are locked into dilapidated housing, decrepit school systems, many on their way to a prison-industrial complex, and talk about their fathers didn’t come through. And we know the fathers got problems. We understand that. But there are structural institutional challenges that he’s not hitting, hitting head on.
And I should say this, too, I think, in terms of style, that the Obama administration is obsessed with the wrong Lincoln. They are obsessed with the Lincoln who they think moved to the right and was trying to create bipartisan consensus with conservatives, whereas we know there’s no Lincoln without Frederick Douglass. There’s no Lincoln without Harriet Beecher Stowe. There’s no Lincoln without Wendell Phillips or Charles Sumner. That was a social movement.
Lincoln supported the slave trade when he was in the House. He supported the Fugitive Slave Act. In the first inaugural lecture he gave, he supported the first proposed Thirteenth Amendment, which said there would be slavery forever in America, the unamendable amendment. That was Lincoln. If it were not for the abolitionist movement, the courageous black and white freedom fighters, from John Brown to Douglass, who put pressure on Lincoln, we would have been dealing with a white supremacist Lincoln.
Lincoln became great, because a social movement pushed him against slavery in that regard. And Obama is looking to the wrong Lincoln. And if he doesn’t understand the greatness of Lincoln was responding to the social movements of working people and poor people, he’s going to end up with a failed presidency, with a lot of symbolic gestures, but, on the ground, everyday people, those Sly Stone called “everyday people,” suffering still."

ReplyDeletewhen u start spewing bs like this, it lets me know i am really winning my debates!
thanks u kkklown
sigh.
ReplyDeletei posted links to the exact same pieces you did. it's just spin and lies to say he "hated" obama.
you choose to see things one way, but the fact is, you're not being accurate.
mareallyblinded:
ReplyDeleteYOU cc me the "loving" things therein...ok?
mareallytakeyourtime:
ReplyDeletei am waiting to see the "loving" praises u found therein
i see none
it is because i do not blindly worship hobama as you do that i can see ALL of his gwb cloned bs so clearly
i don't blindly worship, at all.
ReplyDeletebut i don't lie and twist people's words. i said he did not hate him. he didn't. i accurately said he thought he could be mediocre and perhaps dangerous.
i posted the same links as you.
you need to have some depth to your analysis...but i know you're mind is 110% closed when it comes to obama.
mareallyevading:
ReplyDeletewhat has hobama done that should open my mind?????
what has hobama done that has not been a 110% cc of gwb????
i quoted zinn to prove my pts
i am still waiting for u to do the same
i am amazed that u find ANY neutrality/adoration/love in anything that i cc'd
ditto
i see that as proof of your blindess as well
zinn hated obama just as i do
even if he expressed that hatred as tame disgust rather than my own fiery rage
maria:
ReplyDeleteunlike me, alice walker STILL adores hobama and surreally finds hope in him...i do not!
but even she is more awake than YOU are...shame!!!
aw:
I have said many times that my caring for Barack Obama and his family is unconditional; this is the only kind of caring that makes sense to me. Within that caring, held just as unshakably, is my disagreement with some of his choices. War cannot be stopped by killing more people; there has to be another way. What is it? Nuclear power is treacherous. Is there no faith that Americans can consume less of everything, especially the rapaciously pursued "energy"?
There is much anger at our president from the community of pacifists and anti-war activists to which I belong. There is so much disappointment and rage. I share some of this; what I mostly feel, however, is not anger or rage, but grief. Eisenhower was right to warn us about the burgeoning power of the Military Industrial Complex, as he termed it. That it was quite capable of taking over the country, and the president with it. That we are in the hands of a war machine that doesn't really care who is elected to run the country; its aim is plunder, destruction, conquest and exploitation. Taking whatever its creators want by force. All in the name of "defense." Looking in our own families, we can see how we are connected to this machine: the jobs, the pensions, the chance to learn a trade or go to school. Many people fear that if the military stopped its machinations around the globe, millions of people would have no place, and no work.

The Alicia Banks Troll is tiresome. Why won't go away? Why?!
ReplyDeleteassnons never tired of their same old silly USELESS mantras!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course the Alicia Banks are tiresome. It is their nature. You can click on the icon and get a full dose of the bad craziness of the eyes that speaks volumes of a life full of self-degrading spite along with a page of "accomplishments" that merely run down a list of filling her begging bowl from whatever nut tree would tolerate her.
ReplyDeleteSad really. Still, we might have to take drastic action and install spell check in her head as well as take away her "!" key.
And while we're on about the "accomplishments" I gotta love the Joany-Come-Lately "factoid" of this:
ReplyDelete". I was the first out lesbian in America to host a prime time, daily, commercial talk radio show, in Atlanta, Georgia."
Well that may be but she was far, far, far behind at that. When I ran one of my radio shows at KPFA in the 70s, the best show ever was on right before me. It was called "3rd World Lesbian Mothers for Peace," and it was hosted by a host of... yes... 3rd World Lesbian mothers. Now that was cutting edge radio even in Berkeley in 1972.
So it would seem Ms. Banks cutting edge is a bit dull.
I wonder if congress itself will be like it was in 1856, when a senator beat another senator half to death with a cane.

Agreed Gerard.
ReplyDeleteNotice that the alicia banks Troll's bona fides are at least a decade old. I would think that she would be doing much more with her "exceptional talent" than hijacking bulleting boards and attacking people who have the temerity to disagree with her like a petulent bully.

ReplyDeletei get compliments on my smoky sexy hypnotic eyes daily...my wife adores them and so do TONS of other people

and
unlike visibly legally blind coke bottle spec wearing hater wannabees like you
labi loves my sexy eyes as do millions...ha!!!
he adores my eyes so that he penned this classic poem for me:
no, cameras don't hate you
at 6 delightful
16 a beauty
at 33 a thoughtful pose
and a hint of diana the ross
methinks
at 36 now locked for life
a woman who knows
where she wants to be
and as the locks grow
the smile and steady gaze
seem more assured
at 39 a challenging look?
to friend and foe alike
and now a little sadness
gleaned from thinking
deep those questions
most avoid
the struggle never ends

ReplyDeleteassnons hate me because i do not take their envious attacks in silence!!!
assnons will stay upset herein...bet!!!!
I saw your dubious "Who's Who" awards and I disregarded them.
ReplyDeleteThe entities that issue "Who's Who Awards" are BUSINESSES that capitalize on the vanity (hence the name "vanity press") and stupidity of imbeciles like you who are stupid enough to purchase the paraphranelia and accoutrements associated with these dubious awards.
You also behave as if no one else has been "nominated" for these dubious awards. In high school, I was "nominated" for the "Who's Who Among American High School Students" from Sophomore to Senior year. Of course, I never received my "award" because I was not stupid enough to give them my money. In college, I was "nominated" for the "Who's Who Among American College Students." Just last week, I received a letter from another outfit stating that I was nominated for some "Who's Who Award." It went in the trash. those awards are worthless; not worth the paper on which they were printed.
Most reputable schools and employers look askance at the Who's Who outfits. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who's_Who_scam
Many of us have won awards and accolades, but we are secure enough with ourselves not to publish them every time we are challenged -- especially awards that were "won" 15-20 years ago!
Also, I find it troublesome that you (an SGL womanist and activist), reflexively attack the sexuality of those who disagree with you; this is a tactic that our enemies use. That is hypocrisy of the highest order. What is wrong with being a butch woman? What is wrong with being an effeminate man? People are people and they deserve respect -- no matter what their mannerisms are.
I will not play with you anymore. In fact, I have given too much attention to an uneducable individual whose sole purpose is to find a bully pulpit or wreak havoc on the forums that refuse to grant a bully pulpit to her.
Good day!
goonygoofballgerard:
