In rightwingland there is a new rallying cry: It didn't happen. As in the spitting of an African American congressman after the health care vote and John Lewis being called a nigger by teabagger activist. Right wing talk radio is furious that these good A-merry-cans would be tarred with a racist brand, and they claim that there is a $10,000.00 reward for anyone who can produce a tape or a video of the incident.
Why is there no tape? Why is there no audio? You mean to tell me that not one of the main stream reporters who were there could pick up an audio or video tape of this incident? How about cell phones? In this age of camera phone why was there not one single camera phone picking up this alleged incident? Why is there no You Tube moment? And so it goes with the wingnuts. Wait, it gets better:
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told a crowd at a Duluth, Minn., rally over the weekend that there is no evidence that several black lawmakers were harassed by conservative protesters on Capitol Hill in the days leading up to the health care reform vote. Black lawmakers, including civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), reported that they had been spat on and slurred by protesters demonstrating against the health reform bill last week."Democrats said that they were called the 'N word,' which of course would be wrong and inappropriate. But no one has any record of it. No witness saw it, it's not on camera, it's not on audio," she said. "They said that they were spat upon. No one saw it."She went on, "There's a $10,000 reward right now for anyone who can produce a video or an audio. Don't you think we would have seen a video or an audio by now if there was something out there?" [story]
Did you hear that A-merry-ca? If it's not caught on tape or on audio it didn't happen. All those niggers who got their asses kicked in L.A. before Rodney King were just acting. They were trying out for a part in crime movies. Well Michelle, I am guessing that if one was among tea party friends one isn't going to call out one of their own. But that's just me. Besides, if it comes down to the word of John Lewis or a teabag protester I am going with Mr. Lewis every time. And as for Mr. Cleaver, well, let's go to the video tape, shall we?
And staying with the wingnut theme: I love the interaction from regular readers, I really do. I got an e-mail from a reader named AJ who turned me on to a very interesting article. Seems our girl Cynthia McKinney would rather join with the right wingers than the A-merry-can government.
'“We are ruled not by two parties but one party,' Cynthia McKinney, who ran for president on the Green Party ticket, told me. 'It is the party of money and war. Our country has been hijacked. And we have to take the country away from those who have hijacked it. The only question now is whose revolution gets funded....”'
“'It is time for us to stop talking about right and left,' McKinney told me. 'The old political paradigm that serves the interests of the people who put us in this predicament will not be the paradigm that gets us out of this. I am a child of the South. Janet Napolitano tells me I need to be afraid of people who are labeled white supremacists but I was raised around white supremacists. I am not afraid of white supremacists. I am concerned about my own government. The Patriot Act did not come from the white supremacists, it came from the White House and Congress. Citizens United did not come from white supremacists, it came from the Supreme Court. Our problem is a problem of governance. I am willing to reach across traditional barriers that have been skillfully constructed by people who benefit from the way the system is organized.'
We are bound to a party that has betrayed every principle we claim to espouse, from universal health care to an end to our permanent war economy, to a demand for quality and affordable public education, to a concern for the jobs of the working class. And the hatred expressed within right-wing movements for the college-educated elite, who created or at least did nothing to halt the financial debacle, is not misplaced. Our educated elite, wallowing in self-righteousness, wasted its time in the boutique activism of political correctness as tens of millions of workers lost their jobs. The shouting of racist and bigoted words at black and gay members of Congress, the spitting on a black member of the House, the tossing of bricks through the windows of legislators’ offices, are part of the language of rebellion. It is as much a revolt against the educated elite as it is against the government. The blame lies with us. We created the monster..." [Article]
Interesting article. And in many ways I agree with McKinney. Working class people-black and white- should come together and fight for their common interest and realize that they are being played. But sorry, I am not down with a revolution where I have to watch the guy marching behind me because he wants to kill my black ass. I will unite with his racist ass when it can benefit me, but don't expect me to be "storming the Bastille" with a bunch of racist wingnuts who will be just as bad as the ruling elites we just threw out. With all due respect to Francois Mignet; I am not quite that "intoxicated with liberty and enthusiasm" just yet.
Finally, speaking of interaction from readers: I have gotten e-mails and read comments where some of our regulars want to ban another regular named Alicia Banks. I understand your concerns about the multiple posts, the language, and the vitriol (not just by her) shown to fellow people who comment.
But I cannot and will not do it. I refuse to ban or censor another poster. It's just not in me. If you don't like what she says, just skip over her comments. The comments section on this blog can get nasty at times, and I know that we have our share of trolls. Really nasty ones. The kind that Stormfront would be proud of. But hang in there and roll with it. Believe me, you will be a better person for it. Think of it as going to a part of town or a country that you were initially afraid of, but after leaving and experiencing it, you were stronger and wiser for the experience.
True confessions: I got into blogging because I was banned by the black Christian wingnut La Shawn Barber, and believe me, I had only commented on her blog, once. I asked her a question about her political beliefs and ideology and I never got a response or a chance to respond. I was shocked. But it was her blog, and she could do with it what she damn well pleased. So I vowed to start my own and kick her ass at every turn, and with every blog rating and ranking system out there. Well, to quote the frat boy: "Mission Accomplished".
So sorry, I won't become what I despise. It's a blog folks, not a member of your home. And as much as I would hate it if you did; you can always walk away.
So sorry, I won't become what I despise.

Walking away....
ReplyDeleteWell, to quote the frat boy: "Mission Accomplished"
ReplyDeleteThanks to 3 different posters man!
It's a common tactic of the right to claim it's just a difference of opinion when presented with overwhelming evidence that they're plain wrong. If they say The Great Salt Lake is not salty, & you produce not only a glass of it to drink but also independent lab test results, they'll just say, "No need to taste it. Let's agree to disagree."
ReplyDelete***
If one feels utterly betrayed by the Democratic Party establishment, that sort of implies the establishment used to be completely different than it is now. Which is not true. When was this golden age of liberalism? F.D.R. sold out civil rights progress to get The New Deal passed. Johnson sold out The Great Society to the "military industrial establishment."
Christian wingnut. Now that's an oxymoron.
ReplyDeleteOk field its your blog....
ReplyDeleteCan you at least contact the troll personally and tell her to behave, or set some reasonable rules that she should try to follow?

La Shawn, is that you?
Blogs aren't ranked by how many people comment. Sorry.

I see.... you are more interested in your rankings than in thoughtful discourse, which ceases to occur once AB chimes in and basically dominates... have you read that hot mess that is your last post's comments section?
You are absolutely right. This is your blog, your rules... I have very diligently tried to read around AB's comments, which frankly is almost impossible to do... the thread gets lost and other commenters get lost in the overwhelming number of posts by AB.... I actually would not ask that she be banned, just maybe politely asked to tone down the number of posts.... So, if your posts continue to get hijacked by AB, then you have lost me.... Mission Accomplished....
Of course it didn't happen. Blacks getting spit on is soooooo 1965.
ReplyDeleteMy position is this: I understand that most Tea Party protesters would not condone these acts. But I can't help but notice their apparent indifference. So many overtly racist signs, and gestures, yet not one of these so-called "responsible" Tea Partiers, or their leaders even bothered to take a positive and uncompromising stand against such extremism and bigotry, by telling these people they were bringing discredit upon their movement and telling them to leave. Sure the leaders publicly "condemn" these acts by saying in front of the cameras that they were wrong and disgusting, yet they allow people like this to continue to attend their rallies and behave this way. So to me the Tea Party leaders' condemnations of these "few bad apples" are nothing but empty words. All I see is either condonement or indifference, and both mindsets are equally dangerous. In the South during the Civil Rights Movement, most Southerners were not KKK members, but they were sympathetic to their beliefs, and that is why bigotry flourished in that time. I see the same poison in this group.
The South used to be a lot like this only 45 years ago. And the GOP is represented by people like this. It'll be hilarious who they find to run against Obama.
Wingnuts. Gotta love 'em.
FN,
ReplyDeleteMuch respect from the 'D' I hate censorship and banning of folks by little clowns who think thier blog is thier kingdom..I was banned by the clown at Bookerrising ..
Yet despite my contempt for Undercover Black Man aka one drop rule negro he has not banned me yet...
Again FN much respect for you!!!!
FN seriously, it's getting unbearable to deal with AB. She is blocking other people from contributing insightful discourse. Your blog is going down as joke, many good ones don't come by anymore. This has nothing to do with censorship integrity, she doesn't have respect for your blog, your readers and defiantly none for you as a person, or else she would be doing what she does.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Jody.
ReplyDeleteI was able to scroll past her with no problems. But, the posts became too infrequent to bypass. Then she started dropping the n-bomb, the namecalling (especially the scatalogical ones), the continuous posting of her bona fides, the vulgarity...it is too much. There is too much chaff and too little wheat to make the scrolling worth it.
Mission Accomplished...
Hmm, without evidence this is just blog fodder, right? A very subtle distinction from what you said.
ReplyDeleteAnd dude, maybe I'm wrong but I thought you posted once about being a troll on La Shawn Barber site. That was the impression I got anyhow.
I can't believe you're quoting that racist, whining Cynthia. She needs to go to freaking Cuba and shut the hell up.. Nutcase Bitch..
szpork
I say all the long time readers and contributers should ban ourselves from this blog until things change.
ReplyDeleteWe all know who we are.... mission accomplished.
I am sure that AB is reading and considering what you all are saying.
ReplyDeleteTY Thrasher. Just trying to be consistent.
Jody, my love for blogging has nothing to do with La Shawn... ahh bullshit! Who am I kidding? Initially it was what motivated me. -Well, that and finding Lark Voorhies- But I have grown.
No szpork, I didn't get a chance to become a troll. :(
ReplyDeleteDude, your site rocks. Bookmarked and hoping you can include me as a cool white guy who is a Heinz 57, adopted and a brother to all humankind and a peace-lover...whenever possible.
ReplyDeleteAs Always...Peace, if possible.
hey field, the huffington post had the video up a day or two ago on their home page. clearly showing the rep. binging spit on.
ReplyDeleteAnon. I have the link with this post. Now I must tell you, to be fair to the wingnuts; they claim that the guy wasn't actually spitting on the good congressman, he was just saying it and spraying it and the lawmaker got wet. That's their story.
ReplyDelete"Heinz 57 adopted", I like that.
TY.
Whoa! The last comment thread degenerated into an abyss of delusions...it was like going on an extremely bad acid trip; not cool. Jody, Gregory, Micellaneous, Granny, UTSteve and others really contribute to good discourse and are not mean about things despite getting passionate over topics. It is their commentary that makes the comment section worth it. But I fear that Jody and others are correct; it is difficult to focus on the blog posts when the thread is hijacked. Not only that, blogging is cool precisely because we CAN come across people that think differently than we do; this makes life rich.
ReplyDeleteIt is fucked up to come to a blog and constantly be called nasty infantile names simply because I said something objectionable to his or her point of view.
So perhaps instead of banning, maybe ground rules can be set; the main one being don't call people out of their names or acronyms!
Rational discourse can occur without the insults.
I read your blog in RSS and encourage people who are interested in what you have to say to do so. I avoid unmoderated comment section precisely because they devolve into the nonsense your readers are posting about. I came here for your perspective, not commenters. All the best!
ReplyDeleteYou know they do that! Reverse psychology! Don't fall for the oakie doakie!
ReplyDelete@ FN:
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why I posed the questions I did on an earlier blog you wrote at the time of it happening...
I do not understand WHY CLEAVER DID NOT PRESS CHARGES???
Cleaver does not seem to understand that it was not just HIM being spat on... that spit was for all the people in his district and blacks in general.
It is a crime that is punishable. Further, how does he NOT KNOW that the person who spat on him did not carry the AIDS virus???
Cleaver is a fool for letting it go.
I believe it can only be one of two things going on with Cleaver:
1) It was a set up and HE PAID A WHITE MAN TO SPIT ON HIM so he could "look good" in spit.
2) Cleaver is being investigated because he he stole some money, violated some rules and "they" asked him NOT TO PRESS CHARGES AND THEY WILL DROP THE INVESTIGATION.
Either way...Cleaver let a lot of people in his district down and a lot of people who have fought for civil rights in this country down.
This has been very upsetting for a lot of older blacks and whites that have fought the good fight for this to be a crime and for it not to happen. cleaver ignored the call of the shoulders on which he stands.
This is NOT why people fought for civil rights in this country.
And...
I am not a longtime poster. But learned easily who I want to read and who I don't. It's just like changing the station or channel.
And...
If a person allows your peace to be disturbed...you never really had it in the first place.
Peace.

Brother Field you made some excellent points. I guess some folks are saying that if you can't prove injustice happened then it didn't happen. Its your word versus the perpetrators.
ReplyDeleteIts hypocritical because they don't live like that. It explains why many mislead folks have a disdain for history. If they weren't there and they didn't see it, it didn't happen (lol)
Funny thing about Rodney King is that it happened there was video tape and they (the all white jury) still said it didn't happen (police brutality).
Me thinks its not about video or audio tape at all but preconceived ideas of what certain people may or may not do.
Field you know I was feeling you with this statement:
"Working class people-black and white- should come together and fight for their common interest and realize that they are being played."
Give it time Field when folks figure out that they have been used, they will drop the racism and the ism's for real freedom and liberty and prosperity.
McKinney overstates the case. Bad behavior and racist mean spirited behaviour is not progressive behavior. And it does not move the cause of justice forward she is really wrong there. But she suffers from the problem of still trying to find a way to dance with capitalism she doesn't want to call it what it is and confront it on those terms.
As it stands there is no bridge between right wing vitriol and their attempts to redefine the meanings of real terms that actually have real political meanings and progessive thinking folks.
In order for progressive forces and those who cater to right wing ideas to come together there has to at least be some dialogue and I don't see that happening any time soon. I mean we can't talk if you are not going to show me and my kind any respect.

Brother Field and friends:
ReplyDeleteOn the AB question I think that was a courageous decision by Field.
I agree with others, we have had some great debates and very lively and informative back and forth on this blog I have enjoyed it dearly. And I understand the frustrations.
I don't want to see anybody leave, because these are crucial times and I think we can learn from one another on how to move forward.
I have come to realize that folks are who they are and you can't change anyone and when folks do change, it is usually because of some revelation, or a gift from God.
I have been watching closely the dymamics of the blog over the last week or so and I figured out that its not Alicia that's sabotaging the threads. There are folks purposely trying to light Alicia's fuse and of course Alicia you are determined not to let anything go.
And I refuse to criticize AB, and unlike others I have teased her about it and suggested she use more honey rather than vinegar. But she usually argues her point, rather poignantly. But she doesn't usually throw rocks until they are thrown at her and I defend her right to do it, because quite frankly I feel her pain.
So I am going to continue reading and responding and if we all would just wait a while this will all straighten itself out.
I paste your blog to my googlegroup every other day,and you never cease to generate convo. Keep it up, Field...PEACE.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't happen, and it's sad that you feel the need to cling to this bogus story. The left has one trick that it will use again and again when its back is in the corner: shout ‘racist’ in a crowded country. The Democrats staged a series of symbolic acts meant to manipulate the media to do its bidding. The Congressional Black Caucus pulled the Selma card and chose to walk through the crowd in the hopes of creating a YouTube incident.
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason in 21st century America on an issue that is not a black or white or a civil rights issue to have a bloc of black people walk slowly through a mostly white crowd to make a racial point.
The only supposed evidence of white-on-black racism at a tea party that MSNBC was able to find was a man carrying a gun at an Arizona Obama rally. But, wait, MSNBC cut off the man’s head with a photo editing software. That Second Amendment fan was actually black. Never mind.
The video of the event also shows no head movement one way or another, no reaction at all. Wouldn’t the N-word provoke a head turn or two? Is it really possible that in 2010, in a crowd of 30 or 40 thousand people — at the center of a once-in-a-lifetime media circus — not one person’s flipphone, Blackberry, video recorder or a network feed caught a single incident? And if not, then at least someone could have found an honest tea partier to act as an eyewitness — or the Congressional Black Caucus would have confronted the culprit(s).
Let’s remember that Nancy Pelosi followed this procession with a “perp walk” of her own, as she carried the giant gavel that hammered down the passage of Medicare in 1965 to its rendezvous with destiny. Does any rational person seriously believe that the Capitol Police or her security people would have let the Speaker of the House — second in line of succession to the presidency, right after the Vice President — walk into danger as alleged by the Congressional Black Caucus? Please. This story makes no sense except as a lame bit of propaganda meant to smear opponents of the healthcare bill.
It didn't happen.
maybe you are adverse to censoring and banning but that's not really what people have asked you for.
ReplyDeletethey've asked you to promote civil discourse and maybe some guidelines.
and you got banned without cause. that would not be the case here.
AB and i made our peace some time ago and i think it's holding. i don't really understand it; we were quite vicious at one time.
but that fool MMM still thinks it's ok to attack me and say i'm not really "white," (what an insult!?) call me macaroni and tell me to go make a pizza whenever i post. other people call women on this blog cunts; it's disgusting and you should call them out.
you need to consider how these comments are going to look when you run for office. not everyone will be as forgiving as you'd like.
“'It is time for us to stop talking about right and left,' McKinney told me. 'The old political paradigm that serves the interests of the people who put us in this predicament will not be the paradigm that gets us out of this. "
ReplyDeleteThe problem that I have with this meme, oft repeated at sites like Prison Planet, is that it is aimed at progressives (the left) and benefits the allegedly non-existent right.
This naturally begs the question, who are the "people who put us in this predicament"? The most common answer from the conspiracy enthusiasts are usually codewords for Jews (international bankers) or mysterious groups (the Illuminati). This is the tired old nonsense that I read for entertainment at Prison Planet, popular with the Illuminutty.
Melloneus, go back and read the comments section from yesterday.... M.Rigmaiden expressed her opinions, in a respectful way... even though I disagreed with them, and AB was off to the races, attacking her with rude, obscene names.... and then it got worse. You are right, there are people that seem to take great pleasure in baiting her, but just because someone dangles the bait, doesn't mean you have to bite. In fact, a sign of maturity is NOT biting.....
ReplyDeleteI am happy to read people's comments that are from a different perspective, but when you start calling people ugly, childish, and frankly gross names, you are only inviting more of the same.. and the downward spiral begins and that becomes a race to the most base, crude, and juvenile. That is what is most disappointing and frankly, inane.
I am not particularly interested in reading exchanges that would fit right in on the Jerry Springer show, and that is what the comments section is becoming. Which is really too bad because in the past, it certainly was not like that.

It is they, not I, who demean true heroism with despicable acts of lies and intimidation to shut up legitimate dissent on a subject that has nothing to do with race.
Leftist poison.
Anon methinks you protest too much!!
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that a card is usually a part of a game. So to insinuate a "Selma card" is to insinuate that the Selma protests were part of some game and not part of a serious effort, to gain equal rights and equal protection under the law for Black citizens.
This should be familiar and agreeable ground with you because your fellow citizens at the time were protesting to get the Constitution enforced for ALL citizens.
You come on and say things didn't happen and then you throw out stuff like "Selma card." I mean who are you kidding? Saying things like "Selma card" doesn't imply that you want to have a serious discussion or that you are sensitive to the issues and the history of your darker skinned brothers and sisters in this country.
You can't have it both ways!
You can't claim there is no racism, nor racial insensitivity on the part of right wing conservatives and then use insensitive imagery and make light of something very real and very important in the black struggle for civil rights (Selma march) to make your point.
Alicia Bank's is Not the only Black woman, that Act's up on this BLOG! she may be Extreme, but, many woman come on this Blog and Profanity it up! and yet, they Pretend to be all Prim and Proper, please, go some place and Clean your mouth out! one minute you talk all Intellectual and the next minute you are acting all Ghetto!

I chose not to read Alicia Bank's comment's any longer, I chose not to go into Battle with her, so I pass her by, for I have learned, the more you Battle with her, the more she is Forced to bring forth more Ammunition to fight with! in other word's, Alicia Bank's will not go down without a fight! why do you think she has taken over Field's Blog? this is her Domain! she control's this Blog, not the Field Negro!

Elaborate. What is this Selma card? Is it a gambit where a lot of black folks play their race cards?
ReplyDeleteFunny.
Field, I guess this is what I was thinking of: "I started this blog after being banned from house negro LaShawn Barber's blog. I remember thinking at the time; "how the hell can she ban me from a blog for giving my opinions and views?" But then I thought about it, and said to myself; you know what, it's her blog, and she can do whatever the f**k she wants to with it. So rather than bitch and moan about Ms. Things right to boot me I started my own."

"You do realize that a card is usually a part of a game. So to insinuate a "Selma card" is to insinuate that the Selma protests were part of some game."
No it is not! The insiniuation was the mendacity of the games we saw the democrats play ten days ago. That’s how much the Democrats need a racist Tea Party moment. To stop it in its tracks. That’s why they used the Congressional Black Caucus to try to manufacture the false appearance of one. And when they didn’t get it, they did what they always do: they lied.
Alinsky taught them well: the ends justify the means. And that’s how the Democrats play. They love using black people as symbols of oppression. They love to use them for staged rallies, staged walks and staged protests.
Haven’t we had enough?
"The Patriot Act did not come from the white supremacists, it came from the White House and Congress. Citizens United did not come from white supremacists, it came from the Supreme Court. Our problem is a problem of governance."
ReplyDelete--Personally, the reason I can't get with them is because white supremacy came from white supremacists.
As for whether or not the one spitting incident happened, it's been my experience that most hateful people tend to spew their hate/racism in anonymity, and they are very careful about either identifying themselves or being identified by others.
I think that applies whether you are on the capitol steps or in a comments section of an otherwise excellent blog.
Take care, FN

ReplyDeleteI see your point but, both parties use black folks and white folks for that matter as the Big Business gouge us at work, at the market, at the pump, at the factory, at the bank, at the hospital, etc.
Neither party represents our best interest they laugh at those who fight over whether they are Democrat or Republican.
However if you want to tell black folks about how they are being used you can't do it from a Republican platform to most eyes it is obvious that they don't have love for people of color. These aren't the Lincoln Republicans lets be clear.
And you cannot absolutely cannot have a discussion with conscious black folks and say anything like Selma card. All they will hear is Selma card and all they will think is that you are downplaying its significance. They won't hear another word you say after you use that phrase.
Whether you are aware or not that phrase is a deal breaker a real conversation killer. So if you are serious my fellow human being then just don't say things like that!
Anonymous revisionist history buffs,
ReplyDeletePlease man, stop embarrassing yourself. Learn some fucking history. Instead of being concerned with "Liberals" and "The Left" and the President, how about you pick up a fucking Trivial Pursuit, or a Speak-N-Spell, and worry about how your obvious stupidity keeps you chronically underemployed. Don't blame Obama because you can't get ahead in America, blame whomever put you on the slow boat from Albania, sans an education, and failed to prepare you for success here.
Just because you want the Teabaggers to be Founding Fathers 2.0 doesn't mean that they are.
They're not. Not even remotely close. They are simple-minded folks being led by simpler-minded folks.
They are the guys who still talk about how many touchdowns they scored in high school before the school became integrated. Now the sit at home alone cursing at anything darker than khaki because Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin told them so.
How about some more bullshit stories to keep us all amused? Wasn't it you who stormed the beachheads at Normandy and ended WWII? Armed with a laser cannon you invented? TAKE THIS, YOU KRAUTS AND NIPS!
Wingnuts are funny.
If everything is a code word, how do you make sense of the world? Sometimes what someone says is just what someone says.
ReplyDeleteWhat I saw in the video link that Field posted was that the man in the white cap kept his hands cupped alongside his mouth as he was shouting. He covered his mouth so that it would not be caught on anybodies camera when he spat, but he did spit.He saw the opportunity as the rep was passing in front of him and he spit him. This is obvious also by the reaction and the wiping of the face by the victim. How hateful and disgusting, when will it end....

Pavlov trained dogs to drool upon hearing certain sounds. One's response to code words can be an act of discernment or a response to conditioning.
"As for whether or not the one spitting incident happened, it's been my experience that most hateful people tend to spew their hate/racism in anonymity, and they are very careful about either identifying themselves or being identified by others."
ReplyDeleteLike when the guy was covering his mouth with his hands....who knows, was he covering up the action of spitting? Like Field said, I'd believe the congressman, before I believed the ilk of that guy.
anon11:40,
ReplyDeleteMellaneous was being gracious to you. My reaction and feelings are much stronger than he suggest. Words cannot express them either.
It is as you have blasphemed.
Your analogy, that is, if that was what you were trying to do is lacking in any logic, you need to really find out the why and how about the Selma march. Then put yourself in one of those positions or you may choose ignorance.
Those congressmen have probably walked the same route many times. Who is to say that those protesters didn't follow them or plan to be in their way.
Its interesting why non-aggression is thought to be provocative.
Anon said;
ReplyDelete"Alinsky taught them well: the ends justify the means."
Actually anon it was Nicolli Machiavelli that said that.
This is what folks are trying to say to you. If you were part of a genuine movement you wouldn't be mis assigning quotes and mislabeling liberal democrats as leftists.
But you get all mixed up because you are not thinking for yourself. And you may have one or legit beefs but no real movement.
You or whoever you got that Selma crack probably thought it was cute. It wasn't but it was revelatory.
I became political because I saw an injustice that needed to be addressed and I rolled up my sleeves and fought it. I began to study and figure out what the ultimate source of injustice in the world was and lo and behold it was capitalism, which in this late stage is known as imperialism.
In its mad search for profit and markets and power it has undermined and underdeveloped most of the so-called developing world.
India, Bangaladesh, Congo, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Haiti and other poor countries didn't get that way by magic. They had their countries uprooted by the so-called free market carpet baggers. Some of them again and again in different forms and versions some were even home grown. But all with the same result. Some folks carry out their wealth and leave behind millions of poor folks.
Anyway my point is the reason you keep getting history wrong and downplay the suffering of fellow citizens is because you are not a part of anything organic. You haven't suffered any real injustice!
I am still not sure after all the back and forth what you want to see in the world, but I don't hear you talking about real injustices. You don't really have a movement. You are not fighting a real cause.
Self-indulgence and selfishness is not a cause its a condition.
So you will keep quoting made up terms and made up history from made up people quoting from made up books because you don't have any real beef.
You want to continue things as they are and maintain your right to bear arms or to arm bears or whatever, while complaining that some nebulous poor person is taking something from you, when the folks that are taking from you are right before your eyes.
Anony,
ReplyDeleteI understand your desire to not to employ a name, even a fake one. I wouldn't want to tie myself to such opinions either.
Until I can address you by something other than a timestamp then I will not waste my time.
Hi Field,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your stance in not banning folks as that's a bit much and I do generally enjoy the blog when I visit, but I gotta say that I'm generally hanging around a blog to learn and relax and nothing gets in the way of that quicker than a lot of name calling and general disparagement of others. I've not been around long enough accuse any one person of contributing more to this than any other, but I can generally say that the most base insults being passed about is not an infrequent occurance and really detracts from what can be a learning experience for all. It's like walking into a room where everyone is brandishing a pistol and loudly arguing. Anyone happening upon such a situation is going to keep their visits to that room short in duration and infrequent.
Perhaps all here could just extend each other common simple courtesies as those who post and engage here actually can control the tenor and tone of the discussions.
Field, "And as much as I would hate it if you did; you can always walk away."
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I am shocked that La Shawn did that to you. I am also shocked, well... not shocked but feel very slighted that you never bothered to answer my question to considering Nancy Pelosi as a 'Field Negro' who was a strong support in helping to get the health bill passed. As a matter of fact, she has stood with him through thick and thin on many issues and Obama has acknowledged that. Pelosi will go into the history books as the most powerful Speaker of the House-who made things happen for Obama.
I recognize and respect that FN is your blog and it your prerogative to not respond... Still, I am wondering WHY?
Regarding AB: As the song goes "I have become accustomed to her face".
RE FN Blog: I have mentioned several times before, FN blog is a great place where ALL of humanity meets. Anything you want in terms of a discussion is right here. It's kind of like NYC-'whatever you want, or don't want, is here'. But you have an opportunity to become a better person because of the experience.
That's what I like about your blog..it's rich, colorful, diverse, rude, kind, smart, dumb, atheistic, agnostic, spiritual, religious, noble, profane, ugly and beautiful...there is no other like it. It is really quite unique.
the poster
Field, you are real.
ReplyDeleteFor real.
I appreciate your realness to the max, no kidding!
I can't think of a more sincere compliment.
Jody, "I am not particularly interested in reading exchanges that would fit right in on the Jerry Springer show, and that is what the comments section is becoming. Which is really too bad because in the past, it certainly was not like that."
ReplyDeleteI bet AB WAS on the Jerry Springer show.
Blogs change like everything else in this world. Everything is cyclical and people come and go.
@ Mell
ReplyDeleteThanks for using that line to Anon 11:02 i.e. "me thinks you protest too much"
Was going to use that myself but since I can't repeat you now, I'll just say aloha
the poster of 1:20...You got it right with all those adjectives at the end of your post and that is why we all like coming back to see what is in the Field's mind.
ru serious ..some people wanted to ban alicia....
ReplyDeleteas a black man( from jamaica ) there are times when i think she offers a different pint of view that is invaluable..
i mean often its about shifting through different viewpoints to arrive at a more incisive viewpoint
but we are all richer from having more viewpoints to choose from.....there was for example one excellent thing she wrote while back that i wanted to give her shout out about .. im actually a straight black man whose counts audre lorde a great visionary black thinker who happens to self identify as a lesbian as one of his greatest influences...
she came up with the phrase "poetry is not a luxury " i met her and she was incredibly warm to me ...
i get tired of reading and hearing all this bad mouthing of black lesbians and feminists and their attitudes to black men...my personal experience has been different ..they have shaped my life in the best of ways ..sometime one just has to be chill enuff to listen and try and really understand what folks are trying to communicate without getting defensive ......f..k patriachy ,,,,,
"sometime one just has to be chill enuff to listen and try and really understand what folks are trying to communicate without getting defensive ......f..k patriachy ,,,,,"
ReplyDeleteThat's part of the problem with some on this blog. Few are listening but are trying to make their own argument. Maria is a classic example.
She never hears or listens to the other person, but argues against something that was never said. Consequently she misses the entire point. I do think MMM is wrong to call Maria names and to insinuate that she is not White.
Italians are White. Anyone will tell you that, other than some who don't know any better.
Filled Negro:
ReplyDeleteI must thank you greatly.
You are one of the top 5 Progressive-Fundamentalists that I have watched over time, learning your techniques in order to provide coaching to those who are aware of your agenda so that they might work to thwart your molestation.
I told people to NOT debate you on the question "Did someone call out these Black legislators as such". It is a strategic flaw.
To be clear: THERE IS NO ROOM FOR HATE-LACED SPEECH IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS.
However, Filled Negro here is where you and other leftists expose yourself as a frauds.
Its not that you have a problem with the use of the word "Nigger" in public discourse.......hell, we can go to the triple platinum Jay-Z/Alicia Keys song to hear it said and thus repeated incessantly by White people upon lip sync.
The truth is, Filled Negro, that you, other Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chasers and Snarling Fox White Liberals are political operatives. Stop. End of sentence.
You ask your "hate filled" Right wing enemies to do what YOU CAN'T force your left leaning constellation from doing:
STOP USING THE WORD "NIGGER".
Thus, Filled Negro - I am one step ahead of you.
I choose to not run from your racialism but instead run right back at you head on.
Circumstance of today have you scraping the bottom of the barrel out of desperation. It is YOU who need control over the narrative and labels for your own hate filled agenda to keep the upper hand.
1) Today ONE WORD said by ONE ignorant White, as you struggle to find the offense give you "street cred" as if you have Integrated a School, got a seat a lunch counter - catsup and mustard in your hair or moved into a house where you were not wanted.
Truth is that the VIDEO TAPE from the 1960s is the best reference to expose your fraud.
2) You ask the right-wing to live up to a certain level of civility yet you have no such traction against the STREET PIRATE. You and others propagandize the THREAT from right wing militias yet the daily news of Black people being murdered EVERY DAMNED DAY by methods that would have made "Keep Your Eyes On The Prize" had a White person done it. Instead you look at the skin color of the kill, see no exploitable surfaces and then move along.
Filled Negro - LAST WEEK a Black woman had her head and hands cut off and was dumped into the bushes.
Yesterday a store in a Black community was FIRE BOMBED. A man was in a dispute with the owners, came back with two Molitov Cocktails and burned the mother down. In this same store last year a Street Pirate is shown jumping over the counter and shooting the clerk in the head - in one continuous motion. He got $47 from the store. The man lost his life.
LET ME BE CLEAR TO YOU, Filled Negro. What you promote as a priority for POLITICAL HATE SPEECH against normal Street Pirate Crime is in truth something different.
It is "Non-White White Supremacy" that you express.
In your bigotry there is NO VIOLENT ACT that an apolitical Black man can do that is EQUAL to that of a White man operating for any reason or a Black man who acts as he has an opposing ideology to you.
You see Filled Negro the cost to ME exposing you and others is that I am called a "Black SELF-HATER".
The cost to BLACK PEOPLE following along with YOU is that the NEGRO will continue to be:
* Murdered at a higher rate
* Jailed a higher rate
* Profiled at a higher rate
all because YOU, per your political opportunism are not interested in SEEING HIM AS AN EQUAL HUMAN BEING to that of your White Ideological Enemy.
You have a band of White Liberal Snarling Foxes smiling upon your antics.
I will continue to expose you and continue to advise people to debate you on the BIG PICTURE rather than at the margins as it misses the real issues and merely advances your own perverted agenda.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to reconcile yourself with the painful truth in the streets? You claim to be seeking to fix the condition for the "Least Of These" but continue to treat them as secondary human beings - veritable victims, unable to do intimidate or assault Black people as their superiors do. You cheapen yourself at every turn.
The most painful part of it for me is NOT the attacks upon me. I have you all scripted. Instead it is that YOU KNOW I AM TELLING THE TRUTH but your BIGOTRY in the inferiority of your own people won't allow you to change your ways.
CF
ReplyDeleteI think that you are sincere in your beliefs but my brutha you have the perspective of a white bigot.
You seem to feel that CRIME and CRIME ALONE defines black Americans and that is not only racist but it's sick.
YOU are the one who reinforces the notion of black inferiority.
Blacks should not criticize the ugliness of the tea partiers and militias because street crime should be our focus?
We should not fight racism whenever it appears because of the presence of street pirates in urban ghettoes?
I don't see you attempting to limit the discussions of black conservatives who gleefully attack liberals, the black American majority,
as well as black folks around the world.
Face it, you like Pat Buchanan, feel that black people don't have the right to stand up and say what's on our minds because we're not "worthy".
We should thanful we were captured from Africa and brought here to enjoy the benefits of Western Civilization.
White folks were good enough to grant us freedom after 400 years of slavery and what do we do with it?
Bust caps, drop illegitimate babies, and demand handouts.
That's your philosophy, isn't it CF?
You're not telling any truth bruh.
You are perpetuating garden variety white supremacy in blackface.
Verbosely and artfully, I will admit.
the recessive race is at end game, low birth rates cancer the planet is about to rid us off this unnatural beast.in the mean time original people you must cut all your dealings with this dogged haired pink flesh having neanderthal.
ReplyDeleteget 2 guns, buy plenty of ammo & learn to watch out for each other,as for you church NEGROES your already dead, so good riddance.the planet is changing, hold on be strong.Keep your families close.travel in groups & keep your eyes open.they don't mind taking a few of us with them.keep a camera at the ready & if you got real heart keep the heater close we are dealing with cold blooded killers.any history book will show you white=death & misery.

Hey there, Field Negro! Im an infrequent reader, but this post on censorship is interesting. You know, censorship is not all bad in and of itself. Some stuff just doesn't need saying. At my social

@ CF:
ReplyDeleteAfter conversing with you I decided to go to your page and check you out.
I discovered that you honestly want and care what happens to blacks and the black community.
I also read what your profession is and you stated your concerns at this point in your life.
Here's what I do not understand...if you are concerned about the "street pirates" as you continuously state...why do you not try to engage them in a way that will stop them from their behavior?
Why not teach them about technology? After all, that is your fortay and that would be a great way to reach them.
Or...if you cannot work with "street pirates"...work with children using the same technique...technology.
Just a thought.
Peace.

And speaking of all the wingnuts, rethuglicans and teabaggers, you have got to check this picture out on Flicker. I just about spewed my tea! It's about a new language called Teabonics!http://www.flickr.com/photos/pargon/sets/72157623594187379/

My jokes must be really funny because you are still here. Oh wait...you are a part of the joke.

WhiteBowieSteve:
ReplyDeleteFirst - Screw you!!
Second - I AM NOT PAINTING BLACK PEOPLE AS CRIMINALS!!!!!
Instead you hear me GOING TO THE "BLACK PEOPLE CRYING ON TELEVISION" and reporting UPON WHAT IS MAKING THEM CRY!!!!!!
YOU are the one who is FRAUDULENT.
When I see you call out Field Negro and also Roland Martin (TVOne/CNN), and so many other "Democrats who are in Blackface" THEN you come talk to me.
IF we commit ourselves to MODELING our comments after REAL WORLD circumstances that impact our communities it is THESE FRAUDS who have painted a world that DOES NOT REPRESENT the true, day to day challenges of the average Black person.
They and you are PURE, POLITICAL OPERATIVES.
You work on behalf of the progressives with the STATED GOAL of "Improving the Black community" yet the biggest INDICTMENT that one could ever make of you is to TAKE YOU BACK TO THE LAND THAT YOU HAVE "WON" AND HAVE YOU EXPLAIN YOURSELF.
FRAUD.
I am actually not even trying to change you.
Instead there is a far larger Black Conscious community who is "Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired". They don't need to violently rise up against you.
INSTEAD they need to be provided with a HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK by which YOU, me and ANYONE ELSE that PURPORTS TO REPRESENT THEIR interests can be bound to these results or.....as they say in my firm "Exit the Business".
Field,
ReplyDeleteStill loving your blog itself, but the comments section has become a clusterfuck.
I agree with your reluctance to ban anybody. But perhaps you'd consider banning abusive comments? Deleting all the shit that descends into petty schoolyard shit-talking?
Set up some basic rules, and if AB and her various antagonists play by those rules, let them stay. If not, delete the comment.
Because your blog may soon be called "Field Negro featuring Alicia Banks" if you're not careful. And I didn't come here to read Alicia Banks' life story.
Here's what I do not understand...if you are concerned about the "street pirates" as you continuously state...why do you not try to engage them in a way that will stop them from their behavior?
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Friend Agape:
I am already "Boots On The Ground" (as my friend Hathor says).
I have see that I have to leave my own family to go raise up another man's son. At no time do I see this other man.
THIS MODEL WILL NEVER scale to meet our needs Agape.
The only way to SCALE to address the cataclysmic problem that we are facing is to have a CONSTRICTING CULTURE. At this time we need to have certain DIRECTED OUTCOMES of as many young Black boys and young Black girls for our community.
There will need to be maximum buy in.
ANYONE WHO SEEKS TO BENEFIT FROM THE END PRODUCT.
ANYONE WHO KNOWS THAT THERE IS A BETTER WORLD THAN THIS (Mellaneous)
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GROW BY LEVERAGING THEIR OWN PHYSICAL MUSCLES AND SPIRITUAL MUSCLES needs to do their part.
Agapa - I am ANTI-TALENTED TENTH elitism.
The Talented 10th leaves an Inferior 35% and a middle 55% who is on the fence, getting in where they fit in.
We need to have a HUMAN MANAGEMENT CONSCIOUSNESS within our community.
Part of it is REBUKING FILLED NEGRO and others for USING US as political pawns. He KNOWS where our SENSITIVITIES reside with regards to the fear of WHITE OPPRESSION.
Unfortunately the PAINFUL TRUTH shows that while all of the Federal Anti-Hate Crime focus us upon the WHITE MAN - the STREET PIRATE's blade drips with blood, dulling from so many spinal chords having been hacked.
Agape the challenge is to KEEP OUR YOUNG BLACK MEN FROM DOING ACTIONS THAT HAVE THEM LABLED AS "STREET PIRATES".
I believe that I am doing my part.
We need to stop those who believe that the men and the women in their communities are too INFERIOR to uphold certain responsibilities from allowing their lack of confidence in their own people to spread as such.
Eurasian...considering.Thanks.

Filled Negro:
I would love for you to LAY OUT IN WRITING the "Laws" that I have violated and YOU have lived up to from which this judicial decree above has been rendered.
I strongly suspect that YOUR KIND OF HELP has greatly damaged them.
I wonder if you are fighting AGAINST "Da Man's Laws" while molesting all rationally arrived at conclusions about the GLUE THAT HOLDS TOGETHER A COMMUNITY.
Tell me, Filled Negro - after you got a Street Pirate off from what "The PA Code" said he had violated YET he walks down the street of his own community like he is a "Ghetto Mandela".......how does it feel inside TO YOU?
He walks past the house of the old woman with the flower garden. She watched him grow up and knows he is nothing but trouble based on the fights she saw him start.
Next the old man a few doors down who sits on the porch and got a cellphone because he was tired of getting up to dial "911" because your defendant was casing the cars that lined the street.
Next the young mother with her too children, walking in the opposite direction as your defendant raises his hand in triumph. She clutches her purse - and YES she is a Black woman - because his is the voice that she heard come from behind as her shoulder was injured as he snatched her purse.
Filled Negro - I grew up in a community where there was ALWAYS about 3 or 4 families who generated COMMUNITY TROUBLE MAKERS. Nearly ALL of the male are either dead or in jail. They got promoted from fist fights as youth to gun fights.
It is clear to me that you find much mirth in going against your POLITICAL ENEMIES because the enemies WITHIN prove to be a greater challenge. PROPAGANDA is not enough to tamp them down.

hey, MR, thanks for the shout-out. as i said before, it is possible to have a conversation that stretches the points people make and draws their "truth" out a little further--not a thing wrong with that. if i misquote, i ask to be corrected and acknowledge that. i like to come back with "facts" and some people can't handle reality.
and funny thing--i never aspire to be "white," and think it's so lame when she calls me macaroni and go make a pizza. only shows her stupidity and ignorance.
field, i wrote a comment last night that never posted.
i said if you are going to run for office you need to be aware how these comments will be used against you.
no one is advocating censorship. ask for a civil dialogue, no name-calling, no use of the word cunt to describe women. show respect. pretty simple, pretty universal.
whether you ban anyone because they violate the guidelines is up to you.
but you shouldn't be non-responsive.
and in your case, you were banned without cause. that wouldn't be the case with anyone here--IF you spoke up.
chaos isn't productive.
UnConn... we share the same goal... to have a thriving community where people have the most opportunity to reach their full potential. Where I get lost with you is how we get there. You seem to think the reason that beloved community does not exist is government intervention, which, according to you, sends a message of inferiority to any and all that receives any kind of assistance.
ReplyDeleteSo, my question is, how do we get to your world from here? Do we, and I mean the collective "we" cut the funds and ties to all government funded social programs? Are there programs that you think are good? What exactly do you think government should be doing?
Destructive Wingnut, aren't you guilty of doing the same thing you accuse uts of? Blinded by ideology there dude.
ReplyDeleteFilled Negro:
All of us have some measure of bias and preferences.
This is why the Belly Of The Beast - the Good Ole USA has a framework of INSTITUTIONS which attempt to BLUNT the effects of the individual biases.
Ironically you attempt to condemn me but I am able to articulate a set of PERMANENT INTERESTS as the groundwork that the BOTH OF US should be scrutinized:
* Safe Streets
* Quality Education
* Thriving Local Economies
* Healthy Lifestyle Outcomes
I notice, Filled Negro, that you have no interest in accepting INCUMBENCY within the Black Community. You and WhiteBowieSteve accuse me of OVER-REPRESENTING the number of STREET PIRATES in our community.
YOU do more molestations than a Catholic Priest Fraternity with your claim that the Black Conservative is a greater threat than what the NUMBERS PROVE.
This is why Michael Steele has gotten more press in the past 12 months than have ALL OTHER BLACK POLITICIANS IN THE CBC 43 - take away Barack Obama as President.
I told you before IF OUR COMMON GOAL IS TO CRAFT A MODEL OF THE REAL WORLD WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY - it is YOU who are further off than I am.
The fact that you are a defender of the ESTABLISHMENT MACHINE makes your offense of CONSPIRACY even greater.
It is all too clear that as you have the reigns over the institutions in our communities - the claim that SLAVERY will have more impact on a little Black boy born in "King-Drew Hospital" today than does the ADULTS THAT GUIDE HIM THROUGH LIFE is preposterous.
What the Black Rank & File fails to see is that when they BUY OFF ON YOUR CLAIM, acting complicit, they merely buy off on another 30 years of YOU "Trying Harder" with all of the negative results blamed on the Tea Party members.
Unlike YOU I ask that the community BOND THE BOTH OF US TO A HIGHER PRINCIPLE.
You on the other hand use the VOID in Human Resource Management acumen to molest our community's interests for your own calling.
Where I get lost with you is how we get there. You seem to think the reason that beloved community does not exist is government intervention, which, according to you, sends a message of inferiority to any and all that receives any kind of assistance.
ReplyDeleteAh the old "Methodology" differences Jody.
It is clear that my differences with you have to do with WHICH LAYER OF GOVERNMENT you seek.
I am not "Anti-Government". I believe that the most LOCAL government that can accomplish the task should do so. To do otherwise is to create a "Too Big To Fail" scenario AND a "Hoover Vacuum" that sucks up our money into a big Ponzi scheme.
Ironically the primary reason for the Progressive to climb the tiers of government is because you want to tap upon the "Social Justice Rights" that all within should have in the way of their STANDARD OF LIVING.
For some reason you are not able to see that the MORE YOU ABSTRACT A PERSON'S COMPETENCIES AND ACTIONS from the ultimate STANDARD OF LIVING that he is able to live at the more DYSFUNCTION you create in that person.
Come back 50, 100, 200 years and INSPECT THOSE PEOPLE!!! See if they are more-so CONSUMERS or are they skills equally distributed among the professional services that their communities need? Them being motivated to get the TRAINING so that they can maintain the standard.
ITS IT OFTEN THE REVERSE instead!!! The schools have been "WON" in Philly and Chicago. Despite this we still have people calling them "Inferior Schools".
At what point do these same people cut the code words out and state their belief that there are INFERIOR PEOPLE inside of these schools? That MONEY ALONE is not what has then being viewed as INFERIOR?
Gompers Elementary in Philly was once a SUPERIOR SCHOOL. A new population of students "struggled" to get in and now, despite the same edifice - it is called an "inferior school".
No more of this Jody.
I refuse to play this game any longer.
Those who are failing us are allowed to "keep trying harder". They define the terms of the "next interval" of time, while never having to account for the results from the last interval.
Only the diversionary tactics used by Filled Negro and other keep "The Least Of These" strung behind in support. Like an abused woman they have been convinced that THEY HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS.
Yes Maria and Jody, you and others here at least dialog despite having passionate disagreements. That is why I blog too; to hear differing opinions. Living in an echo chamber is pretty boring. But as everyone says here, civility is paramount. And I've allowed myself to be pushed and have acted an ass myself from time to time. But it is not nor has it ever been my goal to denigrate anyone just because we have a differing world view.
ReplyDeleteLife would be boring if everyone agreed on everything! So yeah, civil ground rules are not too much to ask for are they FN?
As to the debate about whiteness and Italians, I never realized that is why Maria was called macaroni sometimes. To relate to the concept of this blog, there is some interesting information about how Italian immigrants were treated in the Jim Crow south. In short, they lived under Jim Crow if they were dark and spoke Italian. If they were fairer skinned and integrated more into the mainstream, they could get out of Jim Crow. There is a reason why the race of Italians has been questioned and why it might be relevant to this blog discussion.
As to the spitting incident, cognitive dissonance is a mutha. Seriously. You can show a person a message from God himself but if that person doesn't want to believe, they won't. I don't know what the neurological mechanism is for denying the obvious but it is definitely in our annals of evolutionary psychology!
the "race" of my ancestors was never ONCE relevant to the ethnic slurs from MMM. it is said with malice.
ReplyDeletejody--my sense is that because you are white, CF will never accept that you have the same goals, intentions or the same motives. i think he believes only that black people should help themselves and if they accept help from whites, its because they've accepted that they're "inferior," and that the whites only offer the help because they feel "superior."
ReplyDeletebut i am open to corrections and clarifications...
Dear CF:
ReplyDeleteMother Earth is pregnant for the third time, for YAW had knocked her up.
I had tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe, I was not offended, for I knew I had to rise above it all, or drown in my own shit.
You are not rising above it. You see continue to see divisions in color. And this is a fallacy.
When you see black men women and children living in poverty, shell shocked by the inhumanity and turning to crime because they have no hope...
I see people of ALL tones living in such tragic circumstances.
Despair is not the sole purview of any 1 particular race/gender or creed. And you will never win a single battle until you come to understand that power and injustice are completely color blind.
Keep up the great work FN.

Damn field, some of these posters are crooked, spamming fucks trying to peddle their knockoff shit here. Can you at least ban them?
ReplyDeleteDamn, who likes walking over to the buffet when they gotta constantly step over shit?
OK UnConn.... following your premise, you think government should only operate at the local level. Firefighters, police, schools, health care, etc... So, are you suggesting that the United States disband? How "Local" is local? State? County? City? Block?
ReplyDeleteI like to confront negative people, issues, events, etc..I confronted AB and ever since that ordeal I have no problems with her..
ReplyDeleteI think it is a mistake to ignore an issue now my position is simple I reject all forms of censorship and YES this is FN's blog but I hope he does not ban posters just the spam..
Jody your conversation with UnConn highlights a division thats occurred since the inception of our nation! And I don't think your question is easy to answer although I think that locales should have more power.
ReplyDeleteThe whole issue with money in our society and how banks operate fleeces the people. WE don't have control over our currency. One locale (I forget the city) began printing up its own local currency and distributing it to local businesses and the citizens of the community. I think the federal government is suing them. But I think that how currency is made in the US tells us that money is an instrument of debt. And many of us live under debt peonage unknowingly.
So if locales or states have the ability to print up their own money for use within locales that might help us. I think Montana had a bill up in their legislature when they were trying to mint their own currency. I know this is a peripheral issue but it does relate to locales within the US and the power that they may or may not have.

ReplyDelete
jody--my sense is that because you are white, CF will never accept that you have the same goals, intentions or the same motives. i think he believes only that black people should help themselves and if they accept help from whites, its because they've accepted that they're "inferior," and that the whites only offer the help because they feel "superior."
ReplyDeleteMaria:
YOU COULD NOT BE MORE INCORRECT.
When I say "Community" I am speaking to ANYONE with a connection of common interest.
The Jewish woman who had the store on Robinson and Jefferson St was a must a part of the community fabric as any Black person could claim.
Take RACE out of it EXCEPT when I am calling out Filled Negro and WhiteBowieSteve for their RACISM CHASING - purposely exploiting Black people using our sensitivities but not for purposes that benefit us.
I don't have a problem with White people. I have a problem with people who are IGNORANT and HATE-FILLED.
Just because you HATE someone because you perceive they are HATERS - does not exclude you from being HATE-FILLED.
You are confusing my demand for LOCALIZED and FUNCTIONAL communities as a means of managing the human resources withing will calls for RACIAL SEGREGATION. I made no such call.
The only sensitivity that I do have is when Snarling Fox White Liberals (Maddow and Olbermann) PRETEND that they care for our community yet would not DARE attack "Black Street Pirates" who kill us as they play up the threats that Tea Partyers are to Black folks - despite them not having killed one of us yet.
One of the many reasons I love your blog. Thanks.
ReplyDelete
You are not rising above it. You see continue to see divisions in color. And this is a fallacy.
ReplyDeleteXboxers:
THERE IS DIVISION IN COLOR!!!!!
I wonder why those who fight against the claims of a "Color Blind Society" have not rebuked you.
I don't pretend that there is NO RACISM.
I merely suggest that the best, most effective way to defend against it is to NOT BE VULNERABLE TO IT as a DEPENDENT.
(Or at least this is what Farrakhan said)
I have no problem building up systems that offer certain protections at the city/state/national level. My problem is that some of you are BLIND to the fact that DEPENDENCY UPON A SYSTEM WHO'S FAULT IS NOT THAT IT IS RACIST but that the KEY DASH BOARD INDICATORS ARE FLASHING AND BUZZING and yet you pretend that your common dependency is not going to impact you.
IF White people turn their standard of living over to the national government and its Ponzi Scheme while failing to address their needs for competency development at the local level THEY TOO will be as impacted as any Black or Hispanic community that makes the same mistake.
Here is an article about the local currency movement and how it can strengthen failing economies in towns throughout America.

My dear CF,
ReplyDeleteI did not claim that society was color blind. I stated that POWER and INJUSTICE are color blind. And then implied that the fight against them must also be color blind in order to succeed.
The turn to crime of the disenfranchised happens because they have no hope, no opportunity and are constantly deluged with despair.
Witness the demise of the very worthy ACORN, an organization that brought much needed hope to our blighted urban battlefields.
When the 2 idiots published their heavily edited videos, pretty much ALL of congress jumped down ACORN's throat. Power and injustice are very much color blind.
White folk need not turn their standard of living over to the feds, but many recent policy directives of the feds had a very negative affect on our urban poor and these policies at the fed level can rightly be turned back, updated, modified in order to present a more just society, where hope and opportunity are available to everyone.
OK UnConn.... following your premise, you think government should only operate at the local level. Firefighters, police, schools, health care, etc... So, are you suggesting that the United States disband? How "Local" is local? State? County? City? Block?
ReplyDeleteJody:
I can only assume that you are purposefully molesting my words. (And I liked it girl. Do it again. :-) )
Where did you get the notion that I suggested that we DISBAND the national government?
Here is the irony Jody. Follow the circle.
Many of those who argue that more education dollars should be pumped into certain communities - the money having BEEN REDISTRIBUTED from some other community - argue that with EDUCATION heightened COMPETENCIES will have been developed. From which "the Least of These" will be transformed into EQUALS.with this education.
YET after you STRUGGLE, gaining power over these seats and successfully alter the "resource spigot" to flow more favorably - YOU and others who think in terms of National Entitlement have NO RESPECT for people who upon LOOKING AT THE RESULTS THAT HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED using their CONFISCATED MONEY and thus have the AUDACITY TO FIGHT AGAINST YOU from taking even more.
I am not sure how much management experience you have. You are surely a Legal Wonk. But some of your HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT and DEVELOPMENT strategy is 100% COUNTER to ever achieving the intended results.
You shift the burden OFF OF "the Least Of These", pointing to their INJURY as the reason why they can't shoulder the burden of more localized responsibility. Instead you look to those who "have" and you make THEM the enemy. Without THEIR resistance from your confiscation attempts, you say - the "Least Of These" would be healed.
Here is how I summarize the "Filled Negro Political Propaganda Strategy":
The POLITICAL PROCESS of struggling against the ideological enemy BECOMES THE END GAME ITSELF.
Lost in this entire process is the ORIGINAL GOALS for development of the PEOPLE.
(This is what Malcolm X was speaking of in his "political football game")
Just look at the land that you claim as "Won" Jody!!!!!
Do you see why it is so important for Filled Negro and UpTomSteve to focus on anything BUT?
When a "sold out" person like ME holds these institutions that they have DEPARTED as they went to play football on against their enemy I GET ATTACKED as a self hater. They get away clean, able to aggregate MORE POWER under the auspices of FIXING in the future what they failed to fix during the last "confidence game".
THIS IS NOT MANAGEMENT.
It is trixterism.

I just kind of said the same thing you did recently. The government and the corporations play divide & conquer and the more gullible among whites fall for the okey doke every time.
ReplyDeleteThe Tea-Baggers are right about so many things. But the fact that they can't separate their message of fairer taxes and smaller government from their bigotry and racist tripe makes it impossible to agree with them on anything at all. They want to change the world through white supremacy, not by creating a world where all people are treated equally & fairly.
They don't want to divide the pie - they want to keep the whole damn pie for whites only and give the crumbs to whatever "minorities" prove themselves "worthy" enough to get into their good graces.
The fact that they can't & won't understand that not only whites are human is a zero sum game for everyone. That their ignorance is exploited by conservatives is all the more reason to make sure every single one of them is voted out of office anywhere they can be found.
Can we ever convince TeaBaggers & their ilk that it's not people of color they need to fight but their elected representatives? It seems to be an impossible task. Racism & bigotry are old habits that they don't see any need to break- and the media & educated conservatives conspire to keep them unenlightened as long as possible.
ThatDeborahGirl said...
ReplyDeleteI just kind of said the same thing you did recently. The government and the corporations play divide & conquer and the more gullible among whites fall for the okey doke every time.
You should note though, that it's their inner racist that allows them to fall for the okey dokey every time.
Most, if not all white people have it in them, no matter how subtle.
Like for example, the white clerk in wal mart who is polite and friendly, but goes out of her way to not touch my hand when she gives me my change, resulting in money falling everywhere. Or the white receptionist who kept referring to my daughter as a he, when my baby cannot remotely even be confused for a boy, she has a head full of hair which we keep done with hair bo and barrettes. After the third time s/he/it called my daughter a boy, I cursed that ugly ass bitch the fuck out. I'm sorry, but I don't play that shit.

The turn to crime of the disenfranchised happens because they have no hope, no opportunity and are constantly deluged with despair.

Now we need to go back to the CAMPAIGN ADS from 08,04,00,96,92,88 and make note that those who now are RANKING MEMBERS in the municipal/county/state/federal legislative body TO-DAMNED-DAY and make note that DESPITE THEIR PROMISES of what would happen when the community had people in power who "had their best interests in mind and cared about them" that THIS DID NOT TRANSLATE INTO ANY PARTICULAR BENEFIT FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Sorry Anon #16 - I don't see ACORN as clean handed in the matter that lead to their demise.
ACORN is a "Poverty Maintenance Organization". Greater is the population of people who are now made more comfortable in their continued state of impoverishment than is the list that ACORN can point to as them having HEALED from this condition.
They are a "Get Poor People Out To Vote For The Democrats" operation.
THEY NEED TO BE a "Get Equal Human Beings Out To WORK CONSCIOUSLY EVERY DAY so that they might build up a community system by which their TALENTS and INTELLIGENCE plugged IN will contribute to the fruitful garden that blossoms OUTWARD come harvest time."
Anon #16 - when I see individuals who have gone 5, 10, 20 years through the PROTECTIONS that ACORN and other Progressive Quasi-Socialist organizations have put them through their COMPETENCIES have not been enhanced over this time. Only their ENTITLEMENT RIGHTS have been more clearly articulated.
When the 2 idiots published their heavily edited videos, pretty much ALL of congress jumped down ACORN's throat. Power and injustice are very much color blind.
Clearly ACORN had some practices that allowed themselves to be opened to such an expose'. I have the strange feeling that few "60 Minutes" type exposes' against corporations troubled you as much. Maybe its just me though.

ReplyDeleteHypergraphia: The driving compulsion to write; the overwhelming urge to write. As we apply this same model to the "Hip Hop Voice Of The Street Pirate" have YOU ever forwarded an unsolicited notation that they could TALK ABOUT THE HARD TIMES IN THE HOOD without:
* Glamorizing their drug dealing activities
* Executing the verbal equivalent of a dog peeing on a hydrant, marking his turf by making verbal renderings of THREATS to KILL any Black man who steps to him and disses him
* Talking about how Black Women will have sex if you pay for their hairdo.
I am often accused of bringing Hip Hop into POLITICS as a means of shaming Black people DG.
The truth is that the Progressive-Fundamentalists are BRINGING THIS FORCE OF IGNORANCE into the political space. Young Jeezy and TI were on stage campaigning for a local Democrat. This is akin to have a Republican invite a Militia member on stage with them.
IN BOTH CASES the party in question seeks to TAP THE CONNECTION that each respective THUG has to the community of potential voters.
I am not sure why YOU and others don't call them out equally.

ReplyDeleteA lot of black conservatives believe in the premise that if we would only clean up out communities, if we'd only call for an end to corruption in out civil affairs, if we only became good Negroes, that maybe we gain the respect of the majority culture in this country.
ReplyDeleteThat type of thinking, that the black persons default position is one of recklessness, lawlessness, laziness, slothfulness, and foolishness is simply not true on its face.
They just need it to be true. They need all of us to look bad because it makes them all the more endearing to their handlers. Make no mistake, they look forward to any story, any newspaper write-up, any crime blotter report as evidence of the easy criminality and intent of the black.
Don't get me wrong, we need strong communities, we need our young men to work, and we need to create wealth, and the government cannot do that. But to believe this is not to automatically presume or conclude that most blacks, the vast majority of blacks, aren't already doing this.
They are.
Most Blacks are middle class, as are most whites.
The vast majority of blacks have no criminal record of any kind.
Most blacks own all of their possessions.
More blacks than ever before attend colleges and universities.
To spend more time criticizing the affairs of street level criminals while not addressing the issues that led to the criminality is irresponsible as well as short sighted. I'm sure that the majority of criminals do what they do to survive in the place or station in life that they live, not because of "street cred".
What I see from a lot of black conservatives is almost a gleeful disposition when it comes to the blacks who live on the lower edge of the social strata. Every criminal, every food stamp recipient, every non-self sufficient black person only feeds into their narrative that they are simply not good enough and not worthy.
But usually these same black conservatives have no answers, just beautifully written notes of criticism.
Spell out how you would help these "Least of These", black conservatives.
Plan by Plan.
Point by Point.
What concrete solutions do you have? Real things that you can point to, not vagueness and pretty words.
What would you do, Public/Private partnership, job training, expungement of misdemeanor drug offenses, tax credits or cuts; What are your ideas? How can you get them to be productive citizens, to give more than they take, since you believe that most blacks fit into this narrative?
They are OUR people, whether you want to accept it, believe it or not.
What happens to them affects me. And you.
It was caught on tape. Everything is caught on tape. Unfortunately, it's not in the best interest of the racists who caught it on tape to produce it for the media. End of story I anxiously await leaked footage, however.
ReplyDeleteThere's a young adult on my block who is a bully and a small time terrorist. If someone were to kick his candy ass from here to sundown, I guarantee you that I would see nothing.
Okay?
There is such a lag on this blog...
ReplyDeleteField, there was a time when people on this blog would have thought I'd be number one in the protest line against Alicia. But even when she and I had our severe misunderstandings, I never really detested her presence. I have detested several grinding others (if you only knew), and I have come very close to going cyber postal on this blog - island style.
As for Alicia, I've since learned that when it comes to concerns and issues that I hold close to my heart as a black female, Alicia is not my enemy. I've been on this blog for years under so many "La...." tags, I don't think anyone could keep me away, I sometimes tend to gravitate towards ruckus... I donno. Heck, I once told you that I've already been banned from this blog, because someone thinks you look like "bing Rhymes", and they got muy celoso. That didn't work either.
Maria, you and I may get away sometimes, but I like you. The thing is, when it comes to Ms. BET and her name calling, you have to ignore. She tries to insult other black women with stereotypical names all the time, and when she's really had it, she calls them "dark skinned" as if it's some sort of disparagement worthy of hurling. I mean, this is the level of low class intellect and insecurity you're dealing with.
She thinks whiteness is some grandiose classification that she doesn't have, so by telling you that you are not white, she thinks she is stripping you of something so great, and hopes you feel the same. So if you do feel that way about whiteness, her comment will obviously bother you. Ignore her, after all according to her, I'm suppose to be fat, ugly, broke, manless, oh, and dark-skinned. Honey, I'll bet you all that labeling still trumps not being white in her vain self projecting books.
CF you actually make some good points today. I don't have time to enumerate what I particularly agreed with, but you are aware that you are letting the system off the hook.
ReplyDeleteThe system that manufactures all the injustices that we complain about on this blog and in this society off the hook.
Having discussions with you sometimes is like talking in a room with a large elephant and we never mention it.
And no amount of ignoring how these things came to be can make them any less real.
However, you are right about many of the Democratic office holders and for whatever reason you have ignored the Republican office holders who produce the same results. You are right about ACORN organizing to get folks to vote Democrat which I agree is not the solution to their problems.
Jody asked a very pertinent question and I don't think you answered it reasonably. She like me wants to see a world where everyone who wants to work can work and work at job that pays a living wage. We want to see a world where the human right to water, food, shelter and health care and dignity are made real.
Sounds impossible? Nah if the US government can find a way to fund two wars at the same time while also maintaing a huge defense budget then anything is possible.
Its a matter of will my fellow human being!!
con't CF
ReplyDeleteIn your analysis you actually appear to abhor anyone who attempts to help the poor. That is problematic.
I understand what you are getting at when you point out that some help can actually be a hindrance to the poor. That makes sense. You are right teaching a person to fish is better than just giving them fish.
But ah therein lies the rub. The plunderers of society(your friends) Big business, the banks government the ruling class have deprived some areas of fish and some even the ability to fish. And even if they do, they limit what they can bring home to support their family. Forgive the sloppy metaphor.
But this is why --though you do some charity work yourself which is somewhat inconsistent with what you preach on this blog --I contend that I don't think you care.
With the typing of a few words you totally ignore and actually sneer at the very real relief that ACORN has brought to folks.
ACORN has been very helpful for folks, fighting discrimination in housing and fighting racist hiring practices, fighting for better housing, better quality food in local stores, even standing against police brutality and helping organize many communities for its betterment by eking out small victories and actually teaching folks that they CAN stand up to City Hall.
This makes you look like an insensitive, classist, uncaring, snob
I wouldn't call you on this if you had not said you were a Christian, (and it is the Lenten season) but Christians are called to also help folks who are poor or homeless or damaged. Matthew 25 urges Christians to feed the poor, clothe the naked, visit the sick and the imprisoned.
In the book of Micah the prophet calls out those who pretend they don't know what God wants. He tells them this is what God requires and that is to love (do) JUSTICE, practice MERCY, and walk HUMBLY with God.
You talk about folks who have been hurt by the decisions of industry and capital and by the various isms in society as if this leaves no damage no mark, no residue on the human soul.
You pretend as if the very sense of foreboding that our young people get when they sense that the larger world actually does think of them as inferior or second class. And note CF this is not because of anything they have or haven't done but because of the color of their skin.
But you go and on and on as if its no big deal. And the resulting acting out from self-hatred and hopelessness breaks all of our hearts. And your bastardization of inner city violence just makes it all the more painful.
It is CF indeed a big deal.People are damaged, people are hurting and as several posters keep trying to bring to your attention injustice is real and you will never make a real difference never have a real impact until you first learn to care.
Trapped, you make a lot of sense. This is why I dare not go to certain blogs anymore. A lot of Black cons have this thing where all they do is disparage Black people at every turn. For God's sake it seems like an obsession of theirs. Then whenever a white person who might be racist starts to question himself, he sees the tripe that comes out their mouths and then thinks he's okay because a Black person even feels that way. They are tools of those who HATE US.
ReplyDeleteLAAudiobooks, I am saddened that anybody would insult you based upon your complexion. This is why some of the comments about me were so hurtful. Many of us are here for the same reason; we care about the plight of Black folks and of what's happening with our fellow man. We are a diverse people and that is what makes us so unique.
ReplyDeleteI feel for the disgust you must have when somebody has nothing of worth to say about your assertions, and instead rattles off streams of insults. But on a Black centered blog, insults about your complexion feel worse than they would elsewhere.
Continue posting irrespective of the abuser. It makes her look like a raving lunatic! Truly.
I haven't heard light skinned dark skinned talk since childhood except, unfortunately some posters here invoking that bull.
CF- "I will continue to expose you and continue to advise people to debate you on the BIG PICTURE rather than at the margins as it misses the real issues and merely advances your own perverted agenda."
ReplyDeletePREACH IT, CF! The problem is that some people don't "see" the BIG PICTURE...they are only capable of seeing finite ones. If you follow posts on FN blog, they usually deal with certain incidents about selected minutia in life, that keeps people stuck in the problem instead of a solution.
Imo, progressive black dem-liberals have always been stuck in the problem without giving a thought to another solution. Most progressive liberals and dems can't hear a word you are saying because they are blinded by their self-righteous judging minds.
They wrongly and blindly see you as the "black enemy" without considering that they 'might' be wrong. And folks like TSC, UTS and Mell attack you for outlining the problem with a solution. Even when you give them the solution they still don't get it.
In other words, they don't want to hear anything different...their minds are full-like a full glass of water-and are incapable of taking in 'one drop' of anything new.
How do you propose dealing with the "street pirates" that currently exist?
ReplyDeleteGregory:
You, like Steve, FilledNegro and Jody LOVE TO PUT ME ON TRIAL - asking ME questions under the pretense that IF I answer to your satisfaction that you might "follow me".
I AM NOT GOING TO FEED YOU A SOLUTION.
Instead I am going to CHALLENGE YOU to be as dogged in your questions placed upon those who have a more favorable disposition to your own. Who come to you PROMISING salvation for your problems. Who you then SUPPORT (morally or by voting) only to end up asking ME - a person you are highly suspect of - FOR SOLUTIONS.
This is not a riddle Gregory. Don't you see how inane your disposition is?
I want you to STOP taking the pill that you were prescribed because YOU ADMIT THAT IT IS NOT WORKING.
Clean your mind and body out. Then send out an RFP to all who seek your loyalties in the future to RESPOND TO.
Setup a TRANSPARENT evaluation process to consider all RFP responses. Filled Negro and Steve CANNOT be on the RFP review committee as their insider connections are known.
Do you see Gregory - I am not attempting to SELL YOU ON MY IDEOLOGY.
I am ONLY demanding that you and others establish a more TRANSPARENT, above board PROCESS for Problem and Conflict resolution.
What is it that you have to lose but your PRESENT process.
M. Rigmaiden, I have seen the stupid insults being hurled your way too (they are telling), something tells me the ones that the nasty ones that come from anonys might even be other black females. That's even more sad.
ReplyDeleteAs for the skin tone nonsense on this blog, it became pronounced to me over a year ago when MMM, who called herself Flyinmy40's hurled it towards other black women who used to frequent this blog. The thing hat kills me, there were no pictures, but she hurled it anyway. That says a lot.
The light skinned/dark skinned fight is so destructive, and draining. I am not dark skinned, I am considered "safe" brown with a yellowy base hue, and I'm only brown skinned because I grew up and live in an all year round sun climate. I know deep down if I ever lived in the US mainland or in any seasonal cold climate, my hue would change closer to a lighter skin tone. But those things don't bother me. I try not to get into the hue fights, both sides have issues. I'll admit I have always sympathized with darker skinned black women though.
My mother is very dark-skinned, so was my father's mother. However the thing is, my mother has Euro-centric features and light brown eyes, so that's the only trump card that give her a little easement among colorist black people, even in the Carib. Most darker skinned black women don't get that privy.
I know light skinned black people get hassled by darker skinned people over complexion, but we all know the history of this, and in a colorist black skin denigrated world, lighter skinned people still have their advantages over those very dark skinned people. it's similar to rich children being teased by poor children, at the end of the day, rich children still have an economic advantage where it really counts and they WILL use it. That's why no one will give much sympathy for rich children and their "they tease me for being rich" pity party.
Black people of all hues have a lot of healing to do. One day.
So, CF, you are basically telling me that you have no idea. You complain about the "street pirates" and blame them for all manner of ills but you go all silent when I ask you a serious question.
ReplyDeleteI am not asking you for a "solution", because I do not believe you possess one. What I am asking is what you would propose be done about current street pirates. Call it idle curiousity.

MR,
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Believe it or not, I understand what fiscal conservatives like you have to say, and I agree to a large degree.
But some of those in the black conservative community should realize that they are being used in the same way that we incessantly hear that black progressives are used by the liberal white establishment.
The difference is this:
If you are going to demand a set of outcomes from the progressive black that holds power on a inner-city school board or city council, you should hold that conservative white rural county supervisor to the same account when he tells you that he doesn't want affordable housing in this neighborhood. He should be forced to provide a reasonable rationale for his/her thinking.
If you are going to support the premise that a crack offender deserves a 15-year sentence, while a powder cocaine offender gets 6 months at a halfway house and probation for the same amount, you should half to defend that reasoning.
If you truly want accountability, it has to go in both directions.
Some black conservatives do not want this, at any standard, to any degree.
They want to be the sentinel for the black experience as it is understood by white people who are looking for the slightest justification, be it crime rates, or test scores, or a grainy youtube clip of a congressman being spat upon that isn't crystal clear so it gives a racist wiggle room, as a justification to put us in a nice tidy little box of tomfoolery.
And some of us are only too willing to aid and abet them.
"Low & Country: In your blindness you don't see that the majority of your SOCIAL JUSTICE POLICIES require the BLACK MAN TO LOOK BAD."
That, my conservative friend, is called PROJECTION.
You tipped your hand, buddy.

ReplyDeleteMR:
You disappointed me on this one.
What you call "Disparaging Black people" is FAR, FAR, FAR less of an injury to our people than the person who has:
* Taken over the key institutions in our community over the past 30 years.
* Was in control when a young Black boy was born in 1990
* Had controlling influence over all of the key "Community Eco-System" elements that imprinted upon this young man
* YET WHEN THE KID IS AGED 20 - they say that it is THE LEGACY OF SLAVERY which has channeled him in his present direction.
MR - you can continue to be PLAYED if you want to.
Those who turn the microscope AWAY from our community and thus an IGNORANT WHITE MAN LIVING IN Utah has the POWER to say something and the vibrations of his SUPERIOR vocal chords are worthy of appearing on nearly every AfroSpear blog....MR - THESE ARE THE PEOPLE that you should be going after!!!!!
They shame Black people by suggesting our INFERIORITY as compared to this "nobody" who's main offense was that his SKIN COLOR and political party proved to be "Useful to Idiots".
Right in front of your nose are commercial recordings that have the exact same "offenses". Since the lyricists are seen as inferior because their "speech" is not "political speech" then you are complicit.
(It is interesting how the documentary "Dr Mr President" showed that Grand Master Flash's first song was a POLITICAL MESSAGE that documented the conditions in the nation. Yet today's lyrics have been demoted as merely "entertainment". Ignore the "lyrical spitting on Black people" that is contained within.
MR: MY infraction is not that I "point to the negative with Black people".
INSTEAD my offense to the masses is that I DARE TO HAVE SOME DIGNITY, thinking that beyond all other forces I CONTROL MY OWN DESTINY more than all others.
The job of SOME, however, is to remind me that "they still call a DOCTOR a NIGGER" - putting me back in my place.
The more accurate question is "WHAT DOES THE DOCTOR CALL HIMSELF"?
It is THEY who need to understand the DAMAGE THEY DO - NO ME!!!
"i respect fn far too much to ever try to tell him what to do like the selectively blind whiners ie shabassedout/raging ghetto thugette regina/jodeetdeetdee etc do!!!"
I am not asking you for a "solution", because I do not believe you possess one. What I am asking is what you would propose be done about current street pirates. Call it idle curiousity.
ReplyDeleteGregory:
Let's frame it for you so that YOU can find the "Jesus" that is already in you without having me to tell you where to look for him.
YOU are on a vessel with 99 other people. Though there are other vessels floating on a common body of water and thus each of you share some measure of common concern (rocks, storms, etc) - the fact remains that the MEMBER OF YOUR OWN VESSEL are a more proximate concern to you.
You have some commonly understood rules for boating that appear on ALL OF THE OTHER SHIPS. You have posted some VESSEL SPECIFIC rules because you seek to express the uniqueness that is not found in the other boat that is a stones throw away.
Not only is it important that you write these rules down....you must ENFORCE THEM.
Out of the 100 passengers you see 3 who live an "I Don't Give A What" life. They scurry around the boat, terrorizing the females, causing physical damage to the structural integrity of the ship and causing beef with some of the other males.
Gregory - YOU have no choice but to deal with them. The other boats have THEIR OWN ISSUES. You are an EQUAL captain to the captain that they have on their ship. You, in fact lobbied for the job.
If these 3 breach the hull one more time as they did last week and the other men and women who are impacted by this brazen act don't place them in check then YOU ALL MIGHT DROWN once the ship takes on water.
So now we have to go back to the ship's cultural ethos. Should you be understanding of the background of these 3 and how the "system caused them" to act in such a way?
OR is it more important to note that regardless of it being a purposeful violation of the ship's integrity or an ACCIDENT - the presence of a HOLE IN THE HULL is going to cause the ship to sink and all aboard to perish.
Thus it seems to me, Gregory that YOU have an important task of
1) Showing the community that if they fail to live up to the ship's creed all will perish.
2) You have to get the SELF FOCUSED Street Pirates to see the consequences of their action and how they might cause THE WHOLE TO FAIL. Since the Pirate has a great interest in SURVIVAL you need to latch his own selfishness in with the common good of survival.
If you fail - you lose your captain stripes as the ship sinks to the bottom. A captain of a life boat is far less prestigious of a position.
Give it rest you fat shit colored goon!
ReplyDeleteI would only be assed out if I lied down with you, get it big bird?
Could you indeed be guilty? Don't answer it was meant to be rhetorical.
ReplyDeleteNO.
I just don't hear many phrase on the Filled Negro blog that begin with:
"A lot of Black Progressive-Fundamentalists, who just happen to control the board with the Black community think that....................."
The power to LABEL and to KEEP YOUR ADVERSARY ON TRIAL is the cornerstone of the game that is being played.
UNFORTUNATELY, Mellaneous "the Game" can't hide the food waste that has been swept under the rug.
Doesn't the line of ants give it away to you?
Hey Trapped, that is why it was wrong of me to call myself conservative and to try to identify with people that don't have the interests of me and mine at heart. The ONLY way in which I identify with so called conservatives is that I am avidly pro life, I am for the tenth Amendment states rights measures and am pro gun rights as well. I look to our history in this country and am somewhat incredulous of the colorblind society meme that has been passed around. My beliefs go with our history. I think about Hiram Revels, being one of the first Black senators and an avid gun rights enthusiast. Given his experiences, we cannot blame him for that.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the assertion that many Black cons don't require accountability from both sides, that is completely true. They are always talking about the 'plantation' and Democrats etc but they quickly overs step what the GOPers do and their legacy of racism (applied to BOTH main parties).
This is why ever since I started blogging here when Wayne started this blog, we've always been cool to agree to disagree because we have love for our people at heart. Frankly one of the things my maternal GREAT Grandmother told me was that we needed Black folks on both sides of the fence so that our agenda could be accomplished no matter who was in power. That is of course, when we had an overarching agenda.
Now many of us are lost. What I advocate is common sense. No privatizing gains and socializing losses. This is not inherently fiscally conservative; just common sense.
I recently helped a friend of mine get out of a debt collection lawsuit. Clearly the cards were stacked against him when he got a loan at a default rate of 33%! The system was set up not only to hold US back, it was set up to hold the majority of HUMANS in debt slavery. Therefore, my recent philosophy has nothing to do with saying Left or Right or Con or Lib but everything to do with what is good for PEOPLE overall.
Once we can create a financial system where money is not used to enslave people I believe this racism crap will go away. After all, it was only created to keep us distracted from what is really going on. Bacon's Rebellion unfortunately still lives with us.
Trapped I liked your post earlier good points raised.
ReplyDeleteGregory you have CF cornered but don't expect him to know it.
AB keep up the good work
Jody keep up the fight maybe our friend will get it.
Shabazz come on you know folks have been talking about being civil. Why are you using bad names for hidden body parts? (lol) Keep it high level! keep it high level!
CF and people were complaining that AB was acting like this is her blog. NO Matter how much you yack on you will always hold the minority view. Your many screeds seem to say the same thing over and over, black folks are the cause of their own problems solely, black youth are savage, capitalism good. But what the words really convey is this,I don't really care, I don't really care, I don't really care
Field have a good one.
Isee and other praying folks say a prayer for me as me and some dear friends try to get a friend and former activist and giver to the community off the street who has fallen on hard times.
Jaime Escalante has also passed away. He was an inspiration to me and many other kids who liked math but were living in conditions where academic success made a person a target. RIP He was truly a gifted person.
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't forget about your other post Mellaenous:
ReplyDelete
She like me wants to see a world where everyone who wants to work can work and work at job that pays a living wage.
Mellaenous - I don't have a problem with your WANTS. I merely fear what you and Black Diaspora will erect as a CENTRALIZED AUTHORITY to make sure that everyone is PAID based on what YOUR VIEW of their value add to the process that they execute. I get the feeling that their take home pay will be based more on their CONSUMER NEED as a LABORER than they will be on the CONSUMER VALUATION of their work by the "EMPLOYER".
We want to see a world where the human right to water, food, shelter and health care and dignity are made real.
Mellaenous - the nation of Niger and Chad can make ALL OF THESE "ENUMERATED RIGHTS" in their Constitution.
The key challenge is - REGARDLESS OF THE RIGHT there needs to be:
* Competency to EXPRESS these goals
* Financial Resources to carry THEM OUT
and in their case PROXIMITY to the resources of food and water for this to be so.
You are a "Demand Side Economy Guy".
In your analysis you actually appear to abhor anyone who attempts to help the poor. That is problematic.
INDEED it would be problematic IF IT WERE TRUE.
I DESPISE a person who looks at a man and sees A POOR FEEBLE CREATURE.
I worry less about what you FEED people that goes into their stomach. In my view it is what you at times are given to feed their MINDS that need to be expelled.
Didn't YOUR GOD make these people in his own form?
What about your system fails to have you to challenge them to band together to synergize a system? Why is this even offensive to ask this of "the victim" so that he might grow strong?
ACORN has been very helpful for folks, fighting discrimination in housing and fighting racist hiring practices, fighting for better housing, better quality food in local stores, even standing against police brutality and helping organize many communities for its betterment by eking out small victories and actually teaching folks that they CAN stand up to City Hall.
Mellaneous - ACORN could earn my full and undying support if they:
* Go into the brownfields of Detroit, Camden or East St Louis and MAKE NEW what has become dilapidated.
I worry less about their power to ENGAGE certain authority figures to demand SOCIAL JUSTICE RIGHTS.
I am more concerned with their ability to make ORGANIC DEVELOPMENT and CONSCIOUSNESS where there was none.
ACORN will NEVER leave existing "civilization" as a means of obtaining FREEDOM to build up a community of their own.
MR, my philosophy mirrors yours closely. You're cool with me.
ReplyDeleteCF, I not arguing back and forth with you today.
The fact that you feel the need to rebut and challenge EVERY SINGLE CLAIM that you feel applies to you demonstrates the frailty and inherent weakness of the ideas that you espouse.
If you truly feel that me, UTS, Mell, or any other posters are so misguided, so wrong, so completely clueless about what we post and what we say, don't comment on it.
Let our opinions collapse on the weight of their wrongness.
But when you feel the need to "chime in" with that lone voice of black conservatism that you want to claim so badly, you like what you are, a person with a beautiful writing style, more suited for fiction or love stories, but someone who is woefully ill-suited for anything that requires real intellectual rigor.
Because you can't get past "street pirates" and the DeKalb County school board. It's two dimensional thinking. When asked about your solutions, or your opinions on said solutions, you fall back to the "I just want to shine light on the problem" defense.
That's like a policeman who goes out at night only wanting to arrest people for the sake of arresting them. What's next after you point out the problem?
*crickets*
For all that talk about wanting to "TAKING CONTROL OVER THE RESOURCE" or "INSERTING THIS FINISHED PRODUCT INTO THE ENVIRONMENT to HARVEST THE EARTH" or "BOND THE BOTH OF US TO A HIGHER PRINCIPLE";
How does that get Tasha's resume seen? Or yours, for that matter?
How does that get the hiring manager to not take into account Jerome's drug charge from 20 years ago to work at the job he desperately wants?
How does that get Sean Bell NOT shot 51 times?
Or get sidewalks or playgrounds in the poor areas of town, when the nicer areas of town have always had these things, even when the poor people pay taxes just like the wealthy folks do.
The notion of racism is not the main cause of black problems. Far from it. There are apparatuses in place to defeat overt racism now.
Our biggest problem is the metastasizing damage to the self worth and self consciousness of some blacks that can be traced to the residual legacy of racism.
Every problem we face as a people comes back to that eventuality.
It's not that black conservatism is a threat. It's a hustle. I'm sure most conservative blacks voted the same way liberal blacks voted in 2008. If it makes you money writing columns, getting recognition, getting support, whatever, that's fine. But be aware that if you support that ideology, you will have to defend it at some point.
Pretty words and phraseology won't cut it.
You have to have some "there" there.
Gregory you have CF cornered but don't expect him to know it.
ReplyDeleteSeriously Mellenous - can you define the terms by which YOU believe that Gregory has me "cornered"?
This is flying over my head.
HE has affiliated loyalties with the INCUMBENT yet he is asking ME for solutions on how to address some of the Human Resources that are falling through the cracks.
Is this what you call "cornered"?
I refuse to "give an answer" to someone who has been placated by the "Non answer" that his friends have given him per his continued support.
"MR: MY infraction is not that I "point to the negative with Black people".
ReplyDeleteINSTEAD my offense to the masses is that I DARE TO HAVE SOME DIGNITY, thinking that beyond all other forces I CONTROL MY OWN DESTINY more than all others."CF
CF you know I've had a like non like relationship with you for a while. I think part of your problem is that you believe you are the only one who has such dignity and thinks outside of the box. This is called myopia. There are many other people who are disgusted with the political paradigms that have used and abused Black folks and indeed more of US are voting independently than ever before.
I think that instead of talking all the bullshit repeating talking points etc, you really should point to some solutions that can be implemented on a grass roots and individual basis.
Case in point, I am a tutor and in the past I tutored low income kids via No Child Left Behind. This was my way of putting my money where the mouth was located. It is one thing to bitch and complain but what are you doing in your community to make things better?
Me? I talk to my neighbors even though I am extremely shy for the most part. When we have extra food or my son grows out of his baby clothes, we give them to the neighbors.
One of my neighbors showed up the other day with TWO gallons of milk. She is on WIC and had a surplus and wanted to share with me. THIS IS HOW PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED IN THE WORLD; NEIGHBORS LOVING ONE ANOTHER AND GIVING A DAMN ABOUT ONE ANOTHER. THAT IS THE PRAXIS OF TRUE CHRISTIANITY! This is why it is so hurtful to see self proclaimed Christians preach a prosperity gospel where the poor are vilified for their own predicament. And there is cognitive dissonance between the present and the past.
So CF if what you say is to have merit, you need to implement your philosophies on a community level. I don't know WHAT you do in your personal affairs so please forgive if I am preaching to the choir. Hopefully somebody can read and get inspired from this:)
Very good points MR. My wife and I do the same things you spoke about. My kids grow like thier on steroids, so there's always something to give away. When we were starting out, there were folks generous enough to give us baby clothes and other things we needed. I honestly don't know how we would've managed 3 small children without help from others. We used to give our extra wic milk away too. Do you know how much a gallon of milk goes for these days?
ReplyDeleteI have respect for you M.R. Unlike CF, you get it and realize being poor is a condition, not a crime.
Thanks Stax. We have been the beneficiaries of much charity ourselves. And I ain't ashamed to admit it; this is what we NEED to do as human beings; LOVE ONE ANOTHER and everything else is merely conversation.
ReplyDelete>>The POLITICAL PROCESS of struggling against the ideological enemy BECOMES THE END GAME ITSELF.
ReplyDeleteLost in this entire process is the ORIGINAL GOALS for development of the PEOPLE.<<<
Amen. And since the effort is singularly against the ideological enemy, processes are fully developed to pursue that battle, while the expertise needed to actually address some of the real underlying issues goes undeveloped. Hence, whatever gets "won" in that battle is often of little use because the people who the battle is fought on behalf of often don't have the capacity to use the "help." For example, some might consider it a noble battle to fight for something like equalizing school funding between urban and suburban districts, but once winning the battle, the extra dollars change nothing because too frequently our kids lack the capacity to accept the help. That's not to suggest that the intellectual capacity is deficit, but the environment isn't there to support the enhancing of it and that means the money is wasted. If the kid is dealing with the trauma of mommy and daddy in jail, or cousin so and so getting shot last night and etc., then the battle is really about dealing with that environment and not school funding. One has to create the capacity to accept help and often after you've done that, you won't need the so called "help" anyway.
I'm convinced that if black folks were to truly address many of our issues internally and in an independent fashion, funding would be the least of the concerns.
Field:
ReplyDeleteI'm with you -- every Black/Latino conservative defending the Tea Party's obvious racism and homophobia as legitimate outrage, just bare in mind that quite a few of these loons would like nothing more than stick your brown and/or queer head to the top of a spear like a viking warrior trophy. These folks are straight up scary.
Frankly, the Tea Party movement has been in around for a while but its been crystallized and egged on by right wing pundits because that "Foreigner" is now the President.
Are their real problems with our current politics? Yes, but for the most part, the TP folks are aiming at the wrong thing. Fighting against any form of healthcare or ensuring kids can go to college without 20-30% loans looming over their heads would seem ass backwards for working class white folks, since they would be the statical primary benefactors. (There is more 'white trash' in America than 'ghetto babies' and 'street pirates' as CF would call them.)
Working class white folks have more in common with the migrant workers they're trying to chase out of the country. And it would benefit them to join forces and demand real change. But, that would actually be rational, thought out analysis of the current zeitgeist of American politics. However, these folks aren't interested in thought out analysis. Given that they listening to billionaire carnival barkers like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, they simply haven't figured that out.
Most of the Tea Party leaders I've heard speak at rallies that aren't straight hacks like Dick Armey or media whores like Sarah Palin are typically incoherent and extremely ill-informed. Its a movement bred out of fear, selfishness and outright anger.
If anything, this only shows how the Left has all but stumbled in regards to bringing work class folks together, but also how racism, xenophobia and the general fear of the 'other' permeates and determines our body politic. Frankly, if working class white folks weren't scared that 'Niggers, Spics, Foreigners, Queers and Kikes' would benefit, we would have had universal health coverage decades ago.
As for the AB hate up here -- I've been the target of Miss Banks' vitriol many times for a) though far from perfect, I don't think Obama is the Devil or a Bush redux and/or b) seeing the pragmatism will get progressives farther than the kind of kamazee style politics the hard left adores. Also, when pushed, I will "Bring the M**F** ruckus!".
(Wu-Tang Forever)
That being said, AB, your heart is the the right place most of the time, though sometimes your head is somewhere in the Kingdom of Nigh with Art Bell.
Like Con. Feedback, AB has right to her opinion and her rather harsh way of speaking. Its America and the web in particular. If we want scrubbed up 'clean political discourse' where the Ditto-heads, Olbermann fans and the tinfoil hat crazies never talk to each other about our country, watch CNN.
And to be honest, it doesn't matter anyway. Who gives a crap what some nutty folks say on the web -- its forum for us to vent out frustration with our body politic and the current state of the Diaspora, and nothing more. It has little impact outside of the 1's and 0's of the internet if all we do is post. At the end of the day, if we're not getting out and doing something in our neighborhood, we're no better than Alicia, CF or trolls who pollute this blog.
>>>>The whole issue with money in our society and how banks operate fleeces the people.
ReplyDeleteSo if locales or states have the ability to print up their own money for use within locales that might help us. I think Montana had a bill up in their legislature when they were trying to mint their own currency. I know this is a peripheral issue but it does relate to locales within the US and the power that they may or may not have.<<<<<
Sometimes the recent monetary history obscures the past IMO. I read a piece one time about how stable the US monetary supply was over something like an 75-100 year period, hence the price one paid for something in 1870 was the same price 30 years later. Amazing when one thinks about it. Of course, a lot of this occurred prior to the creation of the federal reserve. If I can find the article, I'll post it.
I think our current situation with money printing really came about with Nixon closing the gold window in the 1970's as the cumulative impact of the erosion of manufacturing and Lyndon Johnson's guns and butter programs came to the fore. Financial alchemy in the securities and real estate markets replaced making real things in exchange for real money.
Unfortunately, the solution is seen as doing much of the same thing, so I wouldn't be surprised at people pulling out of the banking system by moving to local banks or using local script.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the solution is seen as doing much of the same thing, so I wouldn't be surprised at people pulling out of the banking system by moving to local banks or using local script.Greg L.
Oh yes indeed Greg, I concur. It is amazing how stable the currency and thus the prices of goods USED to be...financial alchemy is an apt and perfect term to describe the rancid activity on Wall Street.
I have one solution that would rock the boat initially but would REALLY help matters; debt cannot be sold to third parties. DEBT is a negative. How the hell can you sell negative assets? That is like a negative amortization loan, in concept imho you go nowhere pretty quickly!!!!!!!
True reform will mean getting rid of fractional reserve banking and the currency monopoly that the FED has on currency printing. This is why going to local scripts makes a lot of sense. But I fear that a potential consequence is fractionation and ghetto creation in areas that are not resource rich OR have more population than resources like big cities.
Another suggestion is that every American should have an indoor garden, whether hydroponic or in dirt this will help with potential food shortages in the wake of massive federal financial collapse. It also makes sense.
Okay I am rambling. My husband planted our outdoor garden this past weekend and I think that if all Americans got on board with having a garden, many of our problems could be ameliorated.

ReplyDeleteI'm convinced that if black folks were to truly address many of our issues internally and in an independent fashion, funding would be the least of the concerns.Greg L.
Yep you are so right! My paternal Grandparents grew up in Louisiana under segregation but they had support networks that encouraged education. My Grandpa left high school fully competent in Calculus and the Western Classics. My Grandma left high school fully competent in many subjects but most importantly she has a sense of pragmatism. Both of them laugh and think I am joking when I tell them about the thirteen year old sixth grade girl who did not know her basic multiplication tables. They cannot imagine such academic incompetence.
Notwithstanding those with learning difficulties, ninety nine point nine percent of all school problems are from home environment, or lack thereof. Some parents literally sabatoge any help their kids could receive because they aren't honest with themselves nor with their kids about their limitations...whatever they may be.
So it is important to address our internal pathologies and do it through loving one another and applying this philosophy to action. Money cannot be the cure all for all of the world's ills. ACTIONS are the cure.
What am I doing, AB? My job, oh Crazy One. I usually post on my lunch break or between project meetings, because, well, I'm at work and have better things to than worry if some wigged out faux-activist thinks I'm some sort of 'little Eichmann'.

Not POLLS but VOTES.
Please show me.
MR -
Please understand the ILLOGIC of your argument.
You ask ME to PROVE THE VERACITY of my theories by putting them to work - ONE PERSON AT A TIME.
I challenge YOU to rebuke the BLACK and/or Progressive ESTABLISHMENT in the same way.
* Force them to fix Philly now that they have control
* Force them to fix Baltimore......
* Cleveland
* Camden
* Atlanta
* East St Louis
* St Louis
* Chicago
* Detroit
* Milwaukee
* Newark
* Rochester
* Buffalo
Do you see that you try to BLOW ME OFF while you have a massive malignant tumor that is linked right into a main artery of our body.
Just imagine if you DEMANDED EFFECTIVENESS from the establishment prior to advancing your support for it.
I think that you are more comfortable asking ME to engage with the community than you are with asking those men who are NOT DOING THEIR PART to "engage with the community" to prove vet their own theories.
@ Cf:
ReplyDelete1) "The only way to SCALE to address the cataclysmic problem that we are facing is to have a CONSTRICTING CULTURE."
If culture is: the knowledge, language, values, customs and material objects passed from person to person and from one generation to the next in a human group or society (sociologist Diana Kendall 2009)....How then do we CONSTRICT culture? Culture as you well know, is organic and ever changing.
ex:African history is told orally. African American ancestry is written and less oral...and how does America incorporate American culture where it does not want to be incorporated...such as the language barriers that exist with non-English speaking people...in Little Havana there is no need for English.
2) "At this time we need to have certain DIRECTED OUTCOMES of as many young Black boys and young Black girls for our community."
I believe we do as well. However, we need to be clear on what those directives are and how we achieve them for the good of our children.
3) We need to have a HUMAN MANAGEMENT CONSCIOUSNESS within our community.
CF if this could be done this country would not be in the mess it currently is in, and would not continue to create havoc amongst us.
There are quite a few number of people that understand how to manage their consciousness and some of us are able to manage our unconscious thoughts...I just don't think this will be one of the solutions to our community issues.
But...as an eternal optimist...nothing beats a failure but a try :)
Peace.
~agape2010~
CF you know that you're barking up the wrong tree. As many articles as they've pulled and posted from ME on Bookerrising, you're a lie for insinuating that I haven't gotten on the DEMS and the Progressives for their flagrant disregard of Blacks. They just use us for their talking points then forget about us till next election. Same with Hispanics but the GOP did it to them.
ReplyDeleteYou've obfuscated enough though.Seriously. How do you apply your personal philosophy in your daily life?
I rant on the internet, speak to my loved ones, write my Congressmen and raise my son, along with his dad, my husband to be a good boy. What to you do to affect change? There's nothing wrong with asking the question.
Now, many posters here think that actions speak louder than words. How do you turn your theories into actions?
I'm with you -- every Black/Latino conservative defending the Tea Party's obvious racism and homophobia as legitimate outrage, just bare in mind that quite a few of these loons would like nothing more than stick your brown and/or queer head to the top of a spear like a viking warrior trophy. These folks are straight up scary.
ReplyDeleteLAC - While I am happy to be such an important reference to you I am not understanding your point.
You and Filled Negro believe that you win some championship game after having PROVEN that "Tea Parties are RACIST".
Let me yield and say that 1000% of everything that the Tea Party stands for is RACIST!!!!!!
Let let us translate this into NEGATIVE IMPACT for Black people.
1) Any of us KILLED?
2) Any reason for Black communities to be over run with FEAR? (Well other than watching the latest edition of "Washington Week With Roland Martin" and their take on the terrorists)
Again LAC - other than having this tale serving a valuable purpose in your agenda: WHAT IS THE THREAT FROM THE TEA PARTIES upon the Black Community?
Please provide some STATS to back the veracity of your claim.
If you want me to make the connection between the words said within "Hip Hop Voice Of The Street Pirate" lyrics and the 4 recent SHOOTINGS at Metro-Atlanta recording studios - 3 people dead as a result - please let me know.
AGAIN, Low & Country YOU need to tell Crack dealers that they are being illogical. CHOOSING to distribute crack instead of POWDER is bad for business. The dealer or the customer might get heavier sentences and thus the risk increases.-CF
ReplyDeleteCF that is the most twisted logic I've ever seen. This is where we part ways. On a practical level this is sage advice, if someone want to sell drugs don't deal in crack;deal in powder. But the real issue is the discrepancy in sentencing.
There should be no discrepancy. And even deeper we have to ask why punishing the ingestion of substances is illegal in a country that purports to be the land of the free. The War on Drugs represents everything that is the hallmark of a draconian regime. They limit what you can ingest and they limit what you can talk about then then limit what you can wear and they limit your very thoughts.
Not only is the criminalization of drugs counter to the ethos of FREEDOM, it is also disproportionately affected the lower middle classes and Blacks.
What you ought to agitate for is an end to criminalizing drugs in the first place.
I be that if drugs were legal then less people would do them; the thrill would be gone.
We kicked it in Amsterdam a few years ago. Not everyone there was a stoner although pot was decriminalized in the city. A police officer walked me and my husband home after I had too many space cakes! And that's the way it should be!
Now, many posters here think that actions speak louder than words. How do you turn your theories into actions?
ReplyDelete
My friend MR:
I notice that many people want TASKS with they (I am not necessarily saying YOU) don't have a clear understanding of the FOUNDATIONS that they are working upon.
I am not impressed by 'check-lists', detailing what someone has done "for Black people".
If all of them involve "working the soup pot at the 6:30pm dinner feeding" this ACTION should not be mistaken as advancing a firm foundation but instead MAINTENANCE SERVICES.
I think that I have done FAR MORE THAN MOST in presenting an open source framework that people can co-opt and use for their own:
* Safe Streets - to allow community relations to be built up without fear
* Quality Eduction - to allow our young people to one day assume the professional service positions in our community
* Thriving Local Economies - to provide a marketplace to those who are "selling their labor" and those who are selling their finsihed products can exchange their goods
* Healthy Lifestyle Outcomes where the messages that direct our community members translate into long, disease free lives
* Solutions that scale and are enduring
* Solutions that favor ORGANIC implementation by our human resources so they can develop their competencies.
MR - WHAT is repugnant, "conservative" or "Republican" about this list?
These are not TASKS.
These are FOUNDATIONS upon which the METHODOLOGY to achieve them are to be BUILT.
I even try to distinguish between the "American Political Domain" where the Democrats and Republicans (and Filled Negro) reside, as differentiated from the "Community Cultural Consciousness & Competency Development Domain" where the key human resource management TASKS reside.
Again MR - you keep zinging ME for failing to DO SOMETHING. I am looking at 40M other Black folks and asking what you have asked of THEM.
Here is a HINT: I was just watching the local news. The very same door that is LOCKED on the weekend when I do my mentoring program was OPENED today as the gunman who killed another man at a recording studio was taken into custody at a local city's public safety building.
But the real issue is the discrepancy in sentencing.
ReplyDeleteMR:
1) If a BLACK MAN has possession of an equal amount of POWDER does the "Racist System" charge him as if he had CRACK?
2) If a WHITE MAN has possession of CRACK that has gotten Black folks locked up for long term bids - IS HE given the "Powder Sentence"?
MR - What YOU claim is a RACIST disparity is specious. You and others bore a hole into the Black of the bus and MAKE CRACK A "BLACK DRUG" where there is nothing more than PREFERENCE (in my view "ease of transport) that makes the distinction.
I still maintain my "power and pocket lint" don't match theory. (Have you ever snorted a bit of pocket lint? I bet it hurts something awful.)
Worst of all, just as Eric Holder said years ago - The STREET PIRATES don't GIVE A WHAT!!
The day that you raise the sentence to 25grams is the day they start selling CRACK at 24.5gram packets.
How does it feel when you have the bulk of your community CONSCIOUS DEVELOPMENT goals channeled via GOVERNMENT action?
Hell, I'm in favor of Right-left/black and white unity too, but you're right:
ReplyDeleteThose ignoring the teabaggers aren't helping at all, especially the white leftists:

ReplyDeleteAnother suggestion is that every American should have an indoor garden, whether hydroponic or in dirt this will help with potential food shortages in the wake of massive federal financial collapse. It also makes sense.<<<
Yep. I hear you on growing your own stuff. I grew up like that as both of my folks were from the rural south and we grew all our veggies and my mother would can them. We'd also pick all our our fruits and my mother would make our jellies and preserves. We always had a pantry and freezer full of food. My parents would store food like some folks store money. It really minimized the need for money.
As I read what you said about the disbanding of the fractional reserve system, a thought came in my mind. There's a lot of vested interest in that system from those who benefit the most from it and they would resist any substantive change in that system. The system is indeed global and ensures our economic hegemony. IMO, the gold window was replaced by the 1970's agreement with OPEC which priced oil in dollars hence forcing every nation to maintain dollars simply to buy oil. Effectively, our dollar is backed by oil and has allowed us to effectively export the inflation we'd otherwise be feeling as a result of the fed's incessant money printing. It's a game IMO that will only unravel if other nations begin pushing for a new reserve currency and move away from a US dollar dominated world. I think the fed is betting that won't happen anytime soon.
Actually, they say that the primary reason we went into Iraq was based on Saddam's insistence that their oil sales be in Euros. Here's a good piece on this that explains this:
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Iraq/Iraq_dollar_vs_euro.html
This article is somewhat dated as with the financial crisis, the EURO is not in great shape right now, so I doubt that it will replace the dollar at this point. Ironically, IMO the financial crisis has actually strengthened the dominate position of the dollar; at least for now. The main reason we're so bulked up militarily is to ensure the control of those resources supporting the dollar.
In short, the currency system will be maintained at the barrel of a gun if they have to.
Damn agape, why do you always copy destructive wingnut's entire post? I always get tricked into reading his crap. At least put quotes around it or something man. (or woman)
ReplyDeleteCF you're just putting words in my mouth. I don't think we need to have a War on drugs in the first place. Point Blank. As far as the framework you've laid out, those are general suggestions. What might you suggest on an individual level.
ReplyDeleteIf you want people to listen to you and then you motivate them to act, what will you tell them to do in particular? I know you won't rant at them ad infinitum like you do me and everyone else here!

Sorry FN, I thought this would have been a final wake up call break through for you. its a shame you would allow someone to rail road your blog into crap and disrespect your readers. ReplyDeleteI would LOVE for you to use my verbose words and find a bit of "CRAZINESS".
Then again let's do "WRONG".
"Crazy" is your judgment.
I am hoping that you can rebut my views by attacking their appropriateness.
Your reference to "Crooks & Liars" says it all.
I was under the sad mistake that once the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT was totally taken over by ONE PARTY that "C&L" would focus on those who are in POWER.
Boy was I fooled.
I see you haven't realized that you have been fooled yet.
Are you going to use some of that new "Obama Crude Oil" or will you boycott it?
How then do we CONSTRICT culture? Culture as you well know, is organic and ever changing.
ReplyDeleteAgape:
Notice I said "Constrictive Culture".
This is applied to the PERSON.
If you desire to have people in your community who agree to "directed outcomes" then most certainly there needs to be a framework applied by which they discard the "small stuff" and have a concentrated focus upon that which will develop their minds and habits for the better.
Few Med school or law school students are seen spending endless hours playing the XBox 360. The consequence of doing so is too great.
At certain points in time in a people's development a wide open, libertine ethos runs counter to the mission that those who seek to eat the fruit in the end commit to.
