Hey, that ain't Chase Utley.

Looks like philly sports made the national news again, for, as usual, all the wrong reasons. Here in town all the talk is about the young man who must have had one too many and decided that he wanted to live out his life long fantasy and play ball with the Phillies. Bad move. Philly's finest tasered his ass and now we are back in the news with another black eye. Here in Philly folks seems to be split down the middle: "Serves him right" some are saying. "He got just what he deserved." Some, on the other hand, are saying that the po po should have shown more restraint.

Of course this taser stuff is nothing new. Afrospear bloggers have been crying foul about the po po and their taser tactics for some time now. And, as is always the case, it takes some suburban kid getting his ass shocked by the po po for some people to get up in arms about the po po going high tech. For the record, I thought that the po po over- reacted, that kid did not present a threat to anybody. But maybe next time his ass will think twice before he starts pretending that the Phillies signed him to a major league contract.

And finally, at least that kid is still alive to consider his silly actions. Unfortunately for Howard Williams, he is not. An off duty Philadelphia police officer is facing murder charges for allegedly shooting the young man execution style after a domestic dispute.

"The fatal shooting of Howard Williams, 22, happened about 6:30 p.m. on a crowded South Philly block where at least 50 people were engaged in "an all-out water fight" with squirt guns, hoses and balloons, Shanae Williams said.

Gary, 26, and his girlfriend had driven to Hoffman Street near 19th to pick up the 8-year-old son he and Shanae Williams share custody of, she said.
Their car windows were down and Gary's girlfriend became enraged when Williams' niece sprayed her with water, Williams said.

An argument ensued between the women and then between Gary and Howard Williams, according to witnesses.

Gary then went to his car, grabbed a handgun and shot Howard Williams in the neck at point-blank range, Shanae Williams said.

Howard Williams' brother, Antwion "Demetrius" Strickland, 19, said he went to run to his fallen brother's side, but Gary stood over Williams' convulsing body and fired four more shots into his chest.

"When I seen the blood just squirting up in the air, I knew it was serious" Strickland said.
Shanae Williams said Gary then grabbed their son, threw him in the car, locked the doors and put a gun in her face before he sped away." [Article]

Oh well, one more to add to the murder count. Maybe Philly's finest should only be allowed to pack tasers while they are off duty as well.

  2. These people gone crazy. He killed a man, grabbed his son, threw him in the car, and sped away? His role model status is zero, minus, negative. I wonder if he'll get paid administrative leave?

  5. OK, maybe I'm wrong for going here so quickly, but...
This was like a day ago and the dudes already up on murder charges.

When that off-duty cop shot and killed a kid in Port Richmond (another part of Philly)last year it took forever for him to even get fired, let alone charged.

Then I saw a picture of this latest "cop killer" and my stomach turned.
Did the brass finally learn to act quickly, or were the other cops more than happy to get rid of one of "them"?

Hope, I'm wrong but just sayin.

I thought the kid in Philly would have been pelted with batteries, or is that only reserved for Santa?

On to the second part of the post, something seems odd here. Gary is 26 years old, so he could not have been on the force for very long. What was his training? Where was he recruited? I think this story will have some weird twists and turns.

Not that it is any consolation to Mr. Williams.

Brother Field...waiting for the serious post of why Black males continue with the legacy ofhating each other. Having been there, one of the tenants of the Black Panthers was to see all Black males as brothers. The designers of our race have made sure that that concept was destroyed. Even on this comment site, there have been Black males that have attacked me, as well as others because their opinions. I will respect and allow anybody to have a different comment. An example, some Brother that have never met me said "I don't want to belitter you". When you get thru this life as I. then maybe... By the way, isn't Granny allowed to have her thoughts about the police. If you lived in America during the 50s and 60s when the police didn't have to show any compassion and respect..., a lot of them have gotten away with murder. Now PLEASE, I did not say we don't need them. Until my people learn to love each other- then situations will exist that a young man loses his life due to someone disrespecting (spraying water on me when I said STOP) another. But, America TV shows Blacks getting along with all races except themselves. The sublimial message is clear. By the way. Hampton, VA was the first land that Africans touched in our journey in America. "Slave state" can apply to all 50 of them.

  16. HEY FILLED NEGRO:

What are the chances that you will read a note from Granny sent to the Seth Williams after a successful conviction of a Street Pirate at a MURDER trial?

    Dear DA Williams:

Now that we have a "brother" in the seat of power you make us proud.

Well.(with this one murderer off the street)..you got some cleaning up to do because you need to go through and get rid of more Street Pirates than just him. You DO want to lower your murder rate of the city, don't you? Philly doesn't have much going for it these days but at least we can say that no one has said that we need to call in the NATIONAL GUARD to keep North and West Philly safe. At least not yet.

Quite a few of these Street Pirates are cold-blooded murderers who have gotten away with it.

I know that Congressman John Lewis and Senator Chris Dodd said in 2008 "No one who killed a Black person should sleep comfortably years later, knowing that he has gotten away with it" as they set up the "Civil Rights Cold Case Project". Then again it depends on who they killed. For some people the Street Pirate of Overbrook will never kill anyone as dead as those who murdered Blacks before 1965.

If you want me to vote for you again DA Williams - look at the statics and PROFILE the killers based on where the killings are happening and the FULL SET of attributes that they have which makes them more likely to kill. I prefer to protect the right of the innocent people in West Oak Lane to be safe in their own homes than I plan to look past them and defend killers who would cut my throat if I stood in the way of what they wanted to steal.

  17. Dr Officer Don Tazemebro:

Thank you for your fine service to the City of Philadelphia. You saw a person breaking the law by running on the playing field of a public stadium. You quickly assess the situation.

    * A member of the unarmed security crew possibly breaking a nose as he confronts the law breaker.

    * A member of the unarmed security crew possibly breaking a finger as the escaping law breaker struggled to get away.

You showed for the world the EFFECTIVENESS of the "NON-LETHAL WEAPONS" that were provided to you by the city to immobilize a suspect who otherwise failed to heed your commands in the context of an arrest.

    I applaud you officer Tazemebro.

Thank goodness that the suspect was not Black. If he were then you would have to deal with the racial angle inserted by those who will do anything to accomplish their goal of eliminating these valuable tools - all EXCEPT asking everyone to obey the law so they won't wall down the alley of options in which being tazed is one of them.

    http://www.thenotebook.org/blog/102112/asian-students-file-federal-civil-rights-complaint-over-south-philly-violence

Without the 'civil rights' struggles fought by the forefathers of the people who THEY now claim are "violating their civil rights in South Philly" there would be abused by WHITE ITALIANS who used to exclusively run that part of the city. They would purge the Asians as they "Took Back South Philly"

My next door neighbor who was an adult as I was growing up in Philly used to warn me as she sent me off to the Chinese Restaurant at 62nd and Landsdowne - "Don't trust those Asians, make sure you count your change before you walk out of the door. They'll claim that you were cheating them".

Now I can empathize with what she was saying. The shame of these Asians to "Snitch" to the Feds about a "CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION" caused by Black folks who are picking on them.

This type of dissension among Yellow and Black can only be good for the White Italians who are watching all of this with great amusement.

  23. Well, I'm gone say a few things and I'm out.

First, Stillapanther is right, if they did see other as brothers they wouldn't be killing one another. Blacks do need to learn to love one another.

Second, Anonymous, you are a fool on a mule going in the wrong direction, because stillapanther was referring to black on black crime. He never suggested that they kill anyone regardless of color. However, you are not here for any good purpose and we know that.

Third, CF, When are you going to learn that you cannot speak for me, nor do you know how I feel about black on black violence or any violence for that fact. I believe that all human beings have a right to live. I'm not obsessed with black on black violence to the point as you are that it has become the only issue that I am limited in and know to talk about.

Fourth, let me repeat myself, there are some police on the force that do not need to be on it. They have anger management problems, some are racist, and now I'm finding out after checking around that female cop yesterday isn't the only one using drugs. Yes, there have been some that are cold-blooded murderers that have gotten away with it. Just like any other human beings, we have good cops and we have bad cops. BTW, now, all of a sudden, the tasering of the seventeen year old boy is top news and a no no. Puleeze! It wasn't back that long ago that they were tasering senior citizens, blacks and some children were being executed with tasers. It took a white boy to get tasered by a black cop for them to pay it any attention. America can be foul at times when it comes to human worth.

As for your comment Anonymous about I should go and I'm in the way. I have a life outside of this blog, and I am not doing it for any glory or to stand in the spotlight. Leaving this blog is not a problem for me, but I don't think that is your decision to make. Nevertheless, if that is the general census of everyone on here posting, I would do it with no hard feelings because I am not one to crash a party or go to places that I'm not welcomed.

Besides which, like I said I have a life outside of this blog. In addition, I guarantee you that there are many young people of both genders that I have been instrumental in them turning their lives around. I didn't do it making them feel like they were worthless and not dung or talk down on them like they are animals either as CF does on a daily basis. Kids have issues that they deal with on daily basis too just like anyone else. In fact, they have more than we've ever dealt with growing up. Times have changed!

I'm gone, because I have busy day ahead of me.

  27. "Yes. We must remain completely insular and focused on our own people only. Race solidarity is the most important thing."

Does this also apply to people in the Asian community? The last time I checked they were one of the most insular race in the US today. In fact they perfect race solidarity amongst each other, especially if it came to giving outsiders the benefit of being attacked by their own.

I am not saying that was necessarily the the case in those attacks, but Asians in America are just as racist towards blacks, and have been known to circuitously provoke, or deride black students/people in the school environments - underhandedly. That's all I'm saying. There might have been more going on, and we may only be seeing the outcome.

Nah, it is not critical that everyone hate white
people, that way of thinking is all in your mind. In addition, you seem to be a person who is overly sensitive with the topics presented on a BLACK blog that are about racism that are of concern to us. And you want us to tippy toe around the subjects and pretend that racism and discrimination does not exist instead of being truthful. We have some legitimate issues that need to be addressed and solved. In addition, there would be no need for these type of discussions if we were truly living in "post-racial" America. Furthermore, if you don't have the stomach for what we discuss and it causes you to hate white people than that is an issue within yourself that you need to deal with, and maybe, this type of blog is not for you.

In addition, if you have a sore that is infected, first, you drain the poison out, clean it up, and then you apply an antibiotic. You don't just throw a bandage over it because it will become gangrene.

You might believe that you're living in a "post-racial" America, but from where I see it we haven't progresses that far because the world is still full of hatred for fellow human beings.

BTW, are you Asian? And do you speak for all Asians?

    My Dear Granny:

You hurt me badly with your mischarachterization of me above.

Calling me "OBSESSED With Black On Black Murder" is like someone saying that Ida B Wells is "talking too damned much about the lynchings of Blacks in the South"..................."They were going to DIE ANYWAY, the racist White man who killed them merely helped the Black man sit beside Jesus sooner".

Granny will you EVER say that UptownSteve is obsessed with WHITE FOLKS

    or

Filled Negro is obsessed with Republicans?

Of course not. Their words are like "A Fish Don't Know He Wet" in your world - fitting you like a second skin.

THEN you say that I TALK DOWN TO BLACK PEOPLE? PLEASE!!!

Here is the deal regarding YOUR perspective. You mistakenly believe that YOU possess the "room temperature" when it comes to the Black Consciousness. Anyone who is askew from your perspective is a "Negro who just ain't thinkin right".

Yet I have the AUDACITY to look around and see that, now more than ever before, our communities are controlled by people who are otherwise favorable to you and other Progressive-Fundamentalists.

It is strategic for you and others to DENY your "Incumbency" in these places and instead feign that you don't yet have the POWER amassed to:

    * Educate your people
    * Keep your communities safe
    * Employ your community
    * Produce more healthy outcomes within

THUS YOU STRUGGLE FOR MORE POWER

Granny I was allowed into the schools that YOU struggled to get me into.

I am EMPLOYED at an evil corporation in a position that the past "racial profiling" would not have previously allowed me to be in.

I then have the AUDACITY to take some of the HUMAN RESOURCE PRODUCTIVITY CONSULTING work that I am paid to orchestrate by the White man and apply it to the "time and motion" that takes place WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY. When I use these same tools and render UNFAVORABLE (to YOU) observations - making note of the OPERATIVES who put their IDEOLOGY and PARTY over our racial interests, noting that they must be PUSHED OUT OF this protected circle before proper governance can take place - you and others say that "I hate Black people".

Granny - the people who HATE BLACK PEOPLE are those who see up close and personal what is REALLY going on and yet they continue to "Get in where they fit in", going along with the pack while aggreeing to FOCUS ON AN EXTERNAL ENEMY which allows them to UNITE with each other in a fragile coalition.
THESE ARE the "Self Hating Negroes" in my book.

For you - you merely resent me talking about the people who you wish to provide cover for.

Let's try this again. I know that UTS have tried a million times, but, once again, I will give it the old college try.

  33. CF:

I mischaracterized you? LOL! CF every topic no matter what is discussed whether it is a fun topic such as sports, it could be about women and men's relationships, a memorial in honor of some black icon, or whatever, and somehow to you that equates to "street pirates". You change the subject and bring up "street pirates", and that is an "unhealthy obsession" no matter how you try to get around it.

BTW, stop trying to use field and uptown for a scapegoat and distraction to hide behind when your obsession with "street pirates" is pointed out. Don't try to twist my words around, you know exactly what I meant! However, let me make myself perfectly clear. You have an obsession with "street pirates"!

BTW, if I was providing cover for them, they wouldn't spend a day in jail. I'm good at whatever I do! However, you know and I know that "me providing cover for them is not true." Nor do I uphold anyone in wrongdoing, sorry not my style or me. Smh!

    ReplyDelete
  34. CF, stop trying to put words into my mouth because I never told you that I resent you. I'm pretty straightforward, and you wouldn't have to second guess or get it second hand from anyone else. I would tell you that! You and everyone on here should know that about me by now. I don't resent, dislike, or hate you, none of that. I like you! We disagree on certain things. That's all, and that's it. Other then that, I don't have nothing against you. So you need to quit that. Now, I can't speak for you, and I would hope that you not one of those types of people that claim to like someone, but under their breath they're saying something different. I'm not phony! I keep it real!

  36. Field:

I'm through with it, myself. CF needs to realize that we all want what is best for our community. Those things concern us as well. And that their are people working in our community to turn those negatives around.

Like BrotherStillapanther said, when blacks learn to love each other and themselves they will stop killing each other. United we stand, divided we fall and that's the bottom line.

"The harvest is plenty but the workers are few." Even Rome wasn't built in a day. In the mean time, fighting for injustice, fairness, and equal rights in ALL things is important as well, because they are at the root of what causes all of the negative things going on in our community. When people have no hope and live in extreme poverty, it creates a jungle like atmosphere and it animalizes people. All human beings first instinct is to survive. That's in any community, color has nothing to do with it.
