"Worlds Apart."

His O ness is finally making good on his promise to get us out of Iraq, and it looks like September 1, 2010 is the target date. I say it's about damn time. We shouldn't have been there in the first place. That goes for Afghanistan as well. And with each passing day we are seeing why.

"The bullet-riddled bodies — including three women — were found Friday near three four-wheeled drive vehicles in a wooded area just off the main road that snakes through a narrow valley in the Kuran Wa Munjan district of Badakhshan, provincial police chief Gen. Agha Noor Kemtuz told The Associated Press.

One of the dead Americans had spent about 30 years in Afghanistan, rearing three daughters and surviving both the Soviet invasion and bloody civil war of the 1990s that destroyed much of Kabul.

'Spying for Americans'
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told the AP that they killed the foreigners because they were "spying for the Americans" and "preaching Christianity." In a Pashto language statement acquired by the AP, the Taliban also said the team was carrying Dari language bibles and "spying gadgets."

I heard a man I respect immensely say something to this effect on CNN, and it's true: The Taliban share the same ethnicity of the Pashtun Tribe, which represents half of the population of Afghanistan. And, apparently, their "influence extends far beyond the Pashtun heartland" in Afghanistan. They are never going to cooperate with us on a nation building mission, so if we are not there to bomb the place into oblivion (I am not saying that we should) then why are we there? What, exactly, is our vital interest in Afghanistan? To go after al-Qaeda? To catch OBL? To put a clamp on the world's heroin trade? What? It's a rhetorical question, because I know that none of the above makes any damn sense. OBL is either dead or in Pakistan. There is more al Qaeda in other Middle Eastern countries and places like Somalia than Afghanistan, and the president and his damn brother controls half of the drug trade in that country. So who are we kidding with this war?

Finally, these border states are going to have to do something about the killings of innocent law abiding citizens by folks who come into this country without proper documentation. This is what drove those poor people in Arizona to pass those seemingly draconian laws against immigrants. I mean we just cant let this type of thing continue to go on.

"Two men who escaped from a private Arizona prison and a woman thought to have helped them have been linked to the investigation of a couple's killing in New Mexico, authorities said Saturday.

New Mexico State Police spokesman Peter Olson said Tracy Province, John McCluskey and Casslyn Welch were linked through forensics but he declined to provide specifics.

He declined to say whether police believe the three were responsible for the killings, adding that "we don't know how involved they are."

Province, McCluskey and Daniel Renwick escaped from the medium-security Arizona State Prison near Kingman on July 30 after authorities say 44-year-old Casslyn Welch of Mesa threw wire cutters over the perimeter fence. Renwick was arrested in Colorado on Aug. 1.

The badly burned skeletal remains of Linda and Gary Haas, both 61, of Tecumseh, Okla., were found in a charred camper on Wednesday morning on a remote ranch in Santa Rosa in eastern New Mexico. " [Article]

Wait, did they say they are looking for two guys named McCluskey and Renwick? Well I will be damned! I was looking for names like Gonzalez and Rodriquez. Oh well, I am sure that this is just a case of reverse racial profiling. Sorry folks, nothing to seed here, move right along.

  1. I live in Albuquerque (one of the three black people out here, y'all. It builds an amazing sense of community, never pass another negro without a little smile and a friendly "what's up"), and the car stolen from that couple was found here. . .! Why couldn't McCluskey and Renwick run to California? Damn! Go the other way! THE OTHER WAY!

Anyway, more to the point, I am tired of people crying about the illegal immigrants, especially "taking our jobs." People are so easily distracted from the truth. Our manufacturing and customer service jobs are no longer in this country. The big businesses shipped them away. The jobs the illegals do are the agricultural and construction jobs that Americans would never do for the wages that are paid. And most of them have bogus SS #s and therefore do pay taxes that are never refunded to them. If we suddenly want these jobs to go to Americans, get used to not being able to afford the food in the supermarket.

Of course, this doesn't speak to the drug smuggling problem, which is real and violent. But I have the feeling that the folks who are deterred by crackdowns an new laws aren't the drug runners.

The school I work at is nearly 100% Mexican, and I know a lot of the parents are illegal. You could argue that we shouldn't give their kids a free education, but they're here, should we just decide they are an underclass of criminals? Deport them and they're coming right back, not just from Mexico. When living in NY, I knew a Dominican guy who got arrested and deported. His girl raised $5k (this is back in the 90s), and he was back, new SS #, new name, within a couple of months.

The illegal immigrant problem is too complex to be solved by "close the borders" hysteria. They are an integral part of our economy, and do we really want to keep out all but those who are REALLY willing to break the law?

LA, I'm confused as to what being black has to do with my thinking. In any case, as an educator in a border state, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the vast majority of children and grandchildren of the illegal immigrants in my area grow up to do exactly what their parents and grandparents are doing for a living. They don't get past the 8th grade. Living in a trailer and getting a case of beer on the weekends is about the extent of their ambition.

Will this change in the future? I certainly hope so. As much as I hope things will change for black youth in the South Bronx, where I used to teach.

I'm fine worrying about other people without reciprocation. I'm black, but I also belong to the human race. I guess we'll all see what happens.

  6. @Kucky...Finally after all this time of talking to walls someone else gets the real issue of immigration here. That it isn't immigration, it is corporate MIGRATION that is the problem. Our IT jobs and help desk jobs going to India. And his O-ness, sorry field if you have a ™ on that, went to the auto factories, what a charade that was. Very few of our signature auto's are made here. The PT Cruiser, the Chevy HHR, the Chrysler 300 are made in Canada and Mexico, and a lot of the fords you find on the road side dead are also made in Mexico, like the extremely ironically named FIESTA. That whole thought of "them" taking our jobs is ludicrous. It's just the idea of tighty whitey losing his place at the top. I may be one but that dsoen't mean I share the beliefs that the nuts of my lot have. They are ridiculous.

remember when his cousin king shrub said "mission accomplished"?

wars for oil and drugs only end when the oil and drugs are all gone...

    same lie
    dif day

    old stunt 4 new votes

But as Major General Stephen Lanza, the US military spokesman in Iraq, told the New York Times: "In practical terms, nothing will change". After this month's withdrawal, there will still be 50,000 US troops in 94 military bases, "advising" and training the Iraqi army, "providing security" and carrying out "counter-terrorism" missions. In US military speak, that covers pretty well everything they might want to do.

Granted, 50,000 is a major reduction on the numbers in Iraq a year ago. But what Obama once called "the dumb war" goes remorselessly on. In fact, violence has been increasing as the Iraqi political factions remain deadlocked for the fifth month in a row in the Green Zone. More civilians are being killed in Iraq than Afghanistan: 535 last month alone, according to the Iraqi government – the worst figure for two years.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2010/aug/04/us-iraq-rebranding-occupation

he withdrawal, which will reduce the number of American troops to 50,000 — from 112,000 earlier this year and close to 165,000 at the height of the surge — is a feat of logistics that has been called the biggest movement of matériel since World War II. It is also an exercise in semantics.

What soldiers today would call combat operations — hunting insurgents, joint raids between Iraqi security forces and United States Special Forces to kill or arrest militants — will be called “stability operations.” Post-reduction, the United States military says the focus will be on advising and training Iraqi soldiers, providing security for civilian reconstruction teams and joint counterterrorism mission...

Obviously Lucky has not experienced it where he is at. I have the feeling Lucky has no idea what it is to be Black in America. Good for you, Lucky...hope you never find out.

Field, you ought to be talking about that crooked ass judge in SF who overturned Prop8. Why are you so silent about that?

That's the trouble with you liberals. When a liberal judge violates voters rights it's ok because YOU have determined that the majority of California voters were wrong. Tell me Field, where's the Constitutional boundary for judges who judge according to politics?

I am really sick and tired of those folks in the Bay Area. They seem to have no regard for the 'will of the people' of California. The Bay Area is undoubtedly the judicial arm-pit of America.

Only in CA can the Terminator be elected Governor. I wish we could give that pain-in-the-ass-sorry state back to Mexico.

Field, why won't you stand up for the will of the people instead of your own personal political views? Since when did Judges in SF gain the power to make law instead of upholding it?

Well, get ready for the Supreme Court to flush that judges verdict down the toilet where it belongs.

I think both Lucky and LA have valid points. Lucky wants the children in his area to grow up to be responsible citizens. This might ensure that his community thrives and remains/becomes safe. He is one of the few Black people in his neighborhood. However, as a resident of his town, he is looking out for everyone by caring for the kids. There's nothing wrong with caring about children. I wish more people would care about black children. Especially if you live within or near by large black populations, our own children need to be the priority against all others. By teaching self hatred to the kids as was taught to many of us, we exacerbate the black community's ongoing problems. From my experience, most people would not do even a fraction of "caring" for us that too many of us do for everyone but ourselves. It's not selfish, (like I used to believe) it's self preservation.

As far as illegal immigration this comes down to access to cheap labor for big business and living in a better country than they have on their own for illegal immigrants.

Although both goals are understandable that doesn't mean that they are good for the rest of the American citizens.

And also as has been pointed out elsewhere Mexicans are not en masse by and large friendly to or supportive of black causes. In the same way that some black folks would think twice about walking through Howard Beach or Bensonhurst there are some predominantly Mexican areas of LA that have become decidedly unwelcome to Black people. That doesn't mean that EVERY Mexican or EVERY Italian is racist. People are just people for the most part. But it does mean that Blacks would do well to identify and pursue their own interests, just like every other group.

An influx of labor drives down wages which is not good for any worker. In addition once certain immigrant social networks get set up, black workers are at a high risk of being shut out of the hiring process entirely.

These issues have to be addressed honestly and soberly because otherwise they get addressed by the rabid among us, who rabid though they may be have a point..

I guess you think every Black person will grow up to become a maintenance worker or a house keeper, because we are now competing with immigrants who are neither Mexican nor illegal or their second and third generations children.
I don't know where you live or what you do, but you seem very insular. The southwest is a very small part of the US. Believe me, no one complained about the Canadians coming a cross the boarder to work in those good paying unionize automobile jobs. Did you not think that Black folks were competing with them too?

You should learn something about economics. If you were to do that, you would understand the reason.

The big businesses shipped them away.

Why? Because workers in other nations are more productive. It's not wages alone that makes the difference. A high-paid American worker operating equipment in an advanced US factory can be a better value than a Mexican earning a dollar a day in a primitive Mexican factory.

However, when companies can build new factories in Mexico and hire the best Mexican workers for slightly lower wages and benefits, the companies often choose Mexico. Or China. Moreover, the political climate is Mexico is reasonably stable.

The key is PRODUCTIVITY. Next is stability. If the key were wages alone, every company would build a factory in Haiti. Or in some African country. But...

The jobs the illegals do are the agricultural and construction jobs that Americans would never do for the wages that are paid.

Nonsense. Illegal aliens here in Brooklyn cut lawns, paint houses, replace roofs, do carpentry, work in restaurants, convenience stores and bodegas -- but they are not hired at Walmart, which is barred from opening stores in NY City because it sells products for less than most of its competitors.

And most of them have bogus SS #s and therefore do pay taxes that are never refunded to them.

Yes. Lots of bogus social security numbers. But these workers claim 6, 8, 10 dependents, after which no tax is withheld.

Then there is the reality that employers often pay them cash.

So maybe we need a guest-worker program -- and an end to the minimum wage.

The Chinese will probably do to Afghanistan what the U.S. won't do -- carpet-bomb the offending territories to Hell and back, establish state-controlled mining operations and kill anyone dumb enough to fuck with it. The U.S. would rather set things up a la Iraq, where a thin veneer of "legitimacy" blankets the entire area. This probably explains the entire COIN strategy and why the U.S. continues to put up with Hamid Karzai and his people.

See, the problem is how the term "Get your own peoples' shit in order before talking about others" not only insinuates that criticism must only be broached from atop a high moral perch by those of spotless infallability, but also how, when voiced by both the unreconstructed and their self-hating fans, it tells blacks essentially to STFU whenever criminal activity occurs among whites, because blacks are "no better" and in a lot of cases, "even worse" when it comes to criminal activity. That is what ol' slaps had in mind. He is basically telling the Field to STFU in a very roundabout and underhanded way.

You can fix the starting date of the islamic/US war with the June, 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy.

Meanwhile, the best way to get mayhem, murder and world domination off the minds of screwball muslims is to introduce them to the modern world. How do you get them out of the 7th century? You divert their attention away from the mindless obsession with islam and you get them doing things of value to the entire world.

How do you do that? You help them build a diverse knowledge-based economy financed by sales of their abundant oil reserves, which, by a dash of geologic luck, is under their feet.

Iraq is in the middle of the middle east. A democratic, capitalistic Iraq should be a magnet for moderate muslims. A prospering, relatively stable Iraq is the best defense the world can have against the backward-oriented forces of islam.

Unfortunately, muslims embrace failure. Centuries of practicing islam have made them into people who invent nothing, build nothing and think very little. Thus, in the end, we may have to seize their oil fields, sell their oil on the world market and toss the money into the hands of their leaders.

That goes for Afghanistan as well. And with each passing day we are seeing why.

Based on the way things are going, Obama might turn our potential victory in Iraq into a failure -- very muslim of him.

But it's getting clearer that he wants to continue the battle in Afghanistan, which is also very muslim of him. Another failure in the making. It's tough to defeat people who devoutly worship ignorance.

Meanwhile, our ex-muslim commander-in-chief is also muddling around in Pakistan where there are nuclear weapons.

His hodge-podge activities force us to ask what he thinks he's accomplishing in that part of the world. It looks like he's surrendering to islam.

    1. What is the point of an illegal claiming a large number of dependents when, by virtue of using a faked or stolen SSN, he won't benefit from that positive aspect of the American tax system known as the refund check? Wouldn't it put them in harm's way by filing a tax return with a fake/stolen SSN? And since when could you claim 8 to 10 dependents? I always thought the maximum number was 4 or 5.

    2. An end to the minimum wage will most likely see the absolute minimum hourly wage dive back to $5.25. If it doesn't go even lower than that. The problem comes when prices for food and other commodities remains the same. I do realize that the average cost of a fast-food meal rose to about $6 thanks to a deliberate inflationary effect after the minimum wage was raised to $7.25. Now imagine paying for a $6 meal on a $5.25/hr salary. Hilarity will insue.

Field, the "why are we there" question is a good one, everyone REALLY knows the answer, but it must not be uttered too loud.

I suggest you try one of Rudyard Kipling's poems, "The Widow's Picnic (or party, I'm not near my book right now) and it discribes what's going on to a "T".
In the final stanza, the soldier is asked "why", and he says,
"Ask my colonel, I don't know,
    We threw down a king
    And built a road,
    And a courthouse stands
    Where the regiment goed..."

Shakespeare, I think, says it more succictly, "...now thrive the armorers..."
And the politicians, petro-mineral businessmen, statists, cops, and others who feel that the hoi poloi have 'way too much cash and leeway, and use this as an excuse to clamp down. It's less work to have a person surrender their shirt voluntarily than to wrestle them to the ground and rip it off of them. Less strenuous, they don't resent you, and you get a relatively intact shirt. If you come for their pants they probably won't run or fight.

Kipling has another poem called "A Pict's Song" which while short, pretty much captures the mentality and basic philosophy of any insurgency. Tells why they are really messy to deal with.

Hmmm...I believe the name of the assassin was Sirhan Sirhan, correct?

Sirhan was born in Jerusalem to a Palestinian Christian family. When he was 12, his family emigrated, moving briefly to New York, and then to California. He attended Eliot Junior High School (now known as Charles W. Eliot Middle School) in Altadena, California, John Muir High School and Pasadena City College.[citation needed]
As an adult, he changed church denominations several times, joining Baptist and Seventh-day Adventist churches, and also dabbling in the occult.[1] He was employed as a stable boy in 1965 at the Santa Anita race track in Arcadia, California.

A possible motive cited for his actions is the Middle East conflict.[11] After his arrest, Sirhan said, "I can explain it. I did it for my country."[11] According to Mel Ayton, Sirhan believed he was deliberately betrayed by Kennedy's support for Israel in the June 1967 Six-Day War,[18] which had begun exactly one year to the day before the assassination. During a search of Sirhan's apartment after his arrest, a spiral-bound notebook was found containing a diary entry which demonstrated that his anger had gradually fixated on Robert Kennedy, who had promised to send 50 fighter jets to Israel if he were elected president. Sirhan's journal entry of May 18, 1968, read: "My determination to eliminate R.F.K. is becoming the more and more [sic] of an unshakable obsession...Kennedy must die before June 5th".[7][11] They found other notebooks and diary entries which contained his growing rage at Zionists, particularly at Kennedy; his journals also contained many nonsensical scribbles, which were thought to be his version of "free writing".

I doubt a Palestinian Anti-Zionist is a prototypical Muslim terrorist, unless you see all Middle-Easterners as muslims and henceforth, terrorists.

The same argument was presented long ago concerning the question of Africa. Of course, over time it became abundantly clear that the colonizing forces had little to no altruistic motions for the continent and the people therein, unless it happened to be in their favor for doing so, whether it be for profit or for publicity. And in the end, the continent was left with a number of disfunctional countries that were thrown away just as quickly as they were used up, governed by disfunctional entities that operated under their own vices or by ethnocentric hatreds born anew, with whatever dominant group able to take advantage of their weaker counterparts. So forgive me if I seem apprehensive to the idea that allowing foreign corporate entities to remove and export mineral wealth will brighten the lives of Afghans, aside from those who are firmly embedded within the current and rather corrupt government.

Yeah, the Chinese have a long history of invading foreign countries and using the Chinese air force to carpet bomb them into the stone-age.

I gather you believe that IF there are substantial resource reserves in Afghanistan the Aghanis would leave them in the ground rather than sell them on world markets.

In your mind the Afghanis would prefer to cultivate and sell heroin poppies rather than simply collect free money from a foreign mining company.

But why would you care if China invaded and conquered Afghanistan?

Given the developments in China over the last few decades, it's obvious Chinese rule in Afghanistan would be a huge improvement over the existing nothingness.

None of it matters. China is NOT planning a military invasion of Afghanistan.

Here we go again. I guess Field has no right to comment on these murderers when there are black Street Pirates roaming about, right Slappy?

He can comment all day long. He's got that right. But his comments reveal a sense of relief, relief based on a break from the usual criminal parade.

Friday night here in NY City -- in the Bronx -- there were 14 shootings. FOURTEEN. That's a lot. As far as I can tell, no white guys were involved, unless they were victims.

"Get your own peoples' shit in order", that's the whole point isn't it?

Your response tells me you know that blacks are far more violent than whites.

When studying the statistics of anything, differences of 20% or 30% are usually big news. But when it comes racial differences in murder statistics, with differences of 600% or 700%, the gap is so huge it is almost impossible to grasp.

  28. mack lyons,

Apparently you cannot grasp the difference between the establishment of a capitalistic democracy and an exploitive colonization.

The US has never colonized a foreign country. But we have had great success converting dangerous dictatorships to prosperous democractic capitalistic states.

Prime examples: Germany, Japan and South Korea.

The US has no significant interests in sub-Sahara Africa. Meanwhile, the utter mess and chaos of Africa is the result of African leadership. Black leaders have shown their complete incompetence at developing stable and prospering nations.

Considering the extreme resource wealth in many Africa nations, the failure of African leaders is about as sad as things get.

Nigeria -- as benefit of its oil -- should be the Norway of Africa. Instead, it's a cesspool.

In today's world, where trade is key, Nigeria has no excuse for its failure other than it's own internal incompetence.

Hmmm, been to Mexico a couple of times, lived in Cali, and played (soccer) with Mexicans, never experiences racism. At least I didn't notice it. Can't say the same for other folks here in A-merry-ca. :)

    Topper, you nailed it.

La~Audio, I have to disagree with you on this one. What's the difference between Mexican, Indians, Eastern Europeans, Asians or any other group, for that matter, moving up on the educational level and leaving black folks behind? Why make the distinction?

There are lots of folks from other countries who are here illegally (many of them students who came and over stayed their visas) doing exactly that.

"Field, you ought to be talking about that crooked ass judge in SF who overturned Prop8. Why are you so silent about that?"

Because he was right!Just because most A-merry-cans wanted slavery when it was "in vogue", that didn't make it right. Or, I don't know, sounds like you are a wingnut, so maybe you thought that it was.

I guess you haven't been privy to the expansion of China's armed forces. Their current focus is on shoring up their blue water navy, which is still pretty weak compared to our naval forces. To see the Chinese lay the smackdown on Afghan militants who sabotage their mining operations isn't as farfetched as it seems. Of course, you'll have to be willing to look into the future.

"I gather you believe that IF there are substantial resource reserves in Afghanistan the Aghanis would leave them in the ground rather than sell them on world markets.

In your mind the Afghanis would prefer to cultivate and sell heroin poppies rather than simply collect free money from a foreign mining company."

You seem to believe that ordinary Afghanis will benefit from the mining operations. Given the corruptness of the current government plus the tendency for corporate entities to pay wages that are slightly above what most Afghanis get now, which are still significantly lower than what's seen in other parts of the world....if they haven't already be supplanted by "guest workers"......I don't see Afghanis benefiting all that much from the influx of mining.

But they will continue to cultivate Opium for sale to the workers who will inevitably be imported into the country for their "know-how" and "willingness to work". Hmmm....seems like there is a silver lining in there after all, eh Slaps?

Friday night here in NY City -- in the Bronx -- there were 14 shootings. FOURTEEN. That's a lot. As far as I can tell, no white guys were involved, unless they were victims.

    So?

Exactly what relevance do your statistics and examples on black criminality have on a blog post that focuses on the following:

    1) Illegal Immigration
    2) The War on Afghanistan
    3) Military activity in Iraq
    4) Escaped convicts killing an innocent couple

The only reason you continue to throw statistics in the face of posters who probably already know what's happening (and may be doing their own part to stopping it) is to remind blacks of their moral inferiority regarding criminal behavior, hoping that they will simply shut up, slink into a corner and say "Yessuh, wes just crooks n criminuhs, suh. Caint help it suh."

You are as predictable as your mentor Constructive Feedback, but you sadly lack the ability of constructing your arguments into an enjoyable pseudo-intellectual text that makes people chuckle at the ridiculousness of it all. People look at your posts and can't help but think how pathetic you are and subsequently pity you.

How do you do that? You help them build a diverse knowledge-based economy financed by sales of their abundant oil reserves, which, by a dash of geologic luck, is under their feet."

Blah blah blah...good luck with that. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe they like things just the way they are?

(See Allende in Chile, Guzman in Guatemala, Manley in Jamaica, Paz in Bolivia, Nkrumah in Ghana, Mossadegh in Iran (how did that work out?) Nasser in Indonesia, Jagan in Guyana, and Siding with the French over Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam (How did that work out?) Sihanouk in Cambodia which gave us Pol Pot (How did that work out?) I could give you more, but think you get the point. All these men were overthrown to make life better for A-merry-can corporations, who BTW, are people now according to our conservative brethren on the court.

I would venture to say that Iran and Iraq have an extremely educated populace. When I was in Engineering school most of the foreign students were from Muslim countries. The Saudi's live in the 21th century, those princes are not carries by slaves or horses they are driven in Mercedes.

Religious fanaticism only uses the ignorant to do the mundane dirty work, the planning is usually done by the highly educated; as done by all those ambitious priest and bishops during the Inquisition. To use a more modern example, when the Citizens Council, the local establish business men, had the KKK to its dirty work.

I think if Glenn Beck did the planning, you would line up to do the suicide bombing.

Oh. So you think China is going to sail over to Afghanistan and commence its bombing run.

Get out your map. Afghanistan is landlocked. A foreign navy would have limited success as a base for attacking that nation.

Meanwhile, a nation expanding its blue-water navy is a nation thinking about the possibility it will need the benefits of a blue water navy.

In China's case, the idea is absurd. Nevertheless, if you think the Chinese are enhancing their navy for reasons tied to Afghanistan, then you have concluded the Chinese leadership is nuts. That raises other issues.

You would be wrong. First, most women are excluded from most schooling. Second, women in Iran hold no positions of power and in Iraq, the notion of women in power is new.

Moreover, the education success of an educated population is made obvious by the modernity, openness, prosperity and diversity of the countries in which the educated population lives.

Visit the middle east and let me know what you find. The oil money has done nothing to take them out of their devotion to the days of Muhammad.

When I was in Engineering school most of the foreign students were from Muslim countries.

What were you doing in engineering school?

Meanwhile, I am a graduate of an engineering school. My university had 200 Iranians enrolled in 1979 before the Iranian revolution. The nitwit Iranians were demanding the overthrow of the Shah. Shortly after he was overthrown the new revolutionary government of Iran stopped paying the tuition of the Iranian students. Most were forced to drop out. Undoubtedly some returned to Iran and were killed in the Iran/Iraq war.

Meanwhile, there's a reason middle-eastern students spend their college years in schools outside their home countries -- those schools are mostly factories where students memorize the Koran.

They come to the US to study engineering because there the technical schools in the middle east are worthless.

How do I know? Easy. They invent, develop, and manufacture NOTHING in those countries. That's what islam does for a society. Kills creativity -- which Muhammad abhorred.

The Saudi's live in the 21th century, those princes are not carries by slaves or horses they are driven in Mercedes.

Mercedes. True. Because muslims lack the competence to build cars. They must import.

One mark of an advancing society is the creation of new auto companies. However, the number of car companies founded in the middle east is ZERO.

Same for computer companies, aircraft companies and electronics companies. ZERO.

Religious fanaticism only uses the ignorant to do the mundane dirty work, the planning is usually done by the highly educated; as done by all those ambitious priest and bishops during the Inquisition.

Oh. So then you admit that muslims at the top of islamic society are the ones plotting against America and funding the minions sent forth to explode themselves.

Okay, except the 9/11 hijackers were middle class college guys. Though, like many muslims, they probably failed out of college and shifted into radicalism.

Field, this is BS and you know it. Slavery was constitutional UNTIL the constitution was changed BY LAW. What gets me about those white liberal fascists in the Bay Area is that they run the judicial system like dictators. They don't give a shit about the WILL of the voters. It's 'their way or the highway'. They can override the constitutional process whenever they damn well please.... It's "to hell" with the majority of voters who voted for Prop8.

Tell me, Field...where do you draw the judicial and legislative line? Since WHEN did the will of the voters not mean shit?

There is something very wrong with those Judges in the Bay Area. They have no respect for American law...That ruling is not going to stand, COUNT ON IT. There is no way the Supreme Court will agree on such a BLATANT disregard of the law and the will of the voters. That judge is NOT a legislator; a judge should UPHOLD the law, not make law. Californians went to the poles and voted for Prop8 just like they voted for Obama. Can a judge declare that the election of Obama was unconstitutional and throw him out of the WH? After all, there is a question about where he was born.

Only in SF does shit like this happen. FYI, the Bay Area is one of the biggest racist "areas" in America against Blacks, but you don't hear of judges changing law to make things "right". No sir, they are busy protecting rogue policemen who shoot Blacks in the back! Of course, to you gay liberals, it's more important to free the Gays than the Blacks.

And btw, a majority of white gays in the Bay Area will make David Duke look liberal.

And no, I am not a right wingnut. Stop assuming because people disagree with you they must be wingnuts. I am a voter who 'expects' his vote to count and expects the votes of Americans in CA to count too.

The more I think about it, the Bay Area is a joke. They shoot Blacks in the back 'at will', they have mercy on crooked cops at will, and they ignore the Constitution 'at will'.

It's a place of moral destitution.

I am not sure I really need to trot out my Black credentials, but here goes. I've been Black in America for 38 years. For 36 of those, I lived in NYC. Grew up in Floyd Flake's district in Queens, as a matter of fact. I think I know what it's like to be Black in America. Perhaps not exactly your Black experience. . .

I never said that Mexicans weren't racist. I've actually experienced cases where Mexican parents believe their child's word over mine, a situation that NEVER arose in the Bronx, no matter what race the parents/children were. That doesn't deter me from trying to educate children here and show them that there is more in the world besides their little insular trailer park existence.

I've never dated a Mexican. One Puerto Rican, a Jew, a plethora of brothers (I'm a girl, by the way), but not a Mexican. Alas, I'm married now, so too late.

they disgrace mlk and every humanist who ever lived more each day

Comparisons are not synonymous with equations. No fool would ever dare to EQUATE homophobia with racism in America. But, glaring similarities abound!!! Everywhere, everyday, homosexuals are refused services in public places, stalked, beaten, arrested, murdered, raped, verbally harassed, fired, evicted, legally discriminated against, rejected, slandered, libeled, scapegoated, and generally tortured, simply because they are homosexual.

Some persons dared to compare Rosa Parks to Ellen Degeneres, stating “Ellen never had to sit at the back of the bus”. This foolish comparison is both comical and pointless. A legendary heroine like Rosa has no business in the same sentence with a sitcom actress. Unlike these fools, I do not blind my reality with racist delusion.

Thus, I know that Ellen, sudden superstar that she is, may decide to take a bus trip in Dixie, today. And, while sitting in the front of the bus, would most likely have her head bashed in by a gaybashing hick, with a rebel flag in one hand, and a baseball bat in the other!!! She would be kicked OFF of the bus to the cheers of the other passengers, yelling “Dam rat, Yankee dyke, gwone home!!” At such time, I seriously doubt that her former front seat would provide any solace.

Unlike Blacks who revere their preferred *igger status, I am keenly aware of my double *igger status, as one who is both Black and gay. I refuse to revere either! I will continue to attack all who gaybash, just as I attack all who are neocon white supremacists. Armstrong is NOT my brother and he NEVER will be!!

Here are a few excerpts from “Their Own Receive Them Not: African American Lesbians & Gays in Black Churches”:

“There is a striking irony that African American Christians are so uncritical of Paul’s writing about homosexual activity but have maintained a critical attitude or simple rejection of Paul’s instructions on slavery.

African American Christians, like other Christians, ‘treat so literally the references to homosexual practice in the Bible, while at the same time they interpret biblical texts on almost every other topic with considerable flexibility and non-literalness.’

…what is perceived as natural does indeed change over time

‘love the sinner, hate the sin’. Many find this perspective illogical. They argue if same-sex attraction or expression is what makes the person gay, then what is being loved? With sexuality being an inextricable part of one’s being, the popular saying has as much success in reality as loving brown-eyed people while hating brown eyes.

I regard sin as those behaviors that violate, destroy, and abuse our fellow human beings and our relationships with them. In this respect, homosexuality does not belong in the category of sin any more than heterosexuality does.

Much of black heterosexuals’ antihomosexual sentiment exists as a means of countering the perception of black sexuality being perverse…

…we know that lesbians and gays can and do reflect the same Christian moral character found in heterosexuals.

…most gay men and lesbians were not raped and are not rapists.

No reputable scientific study concludes that homosexuality is a choice and can be overcome.

…black Christians will recognize that the mire of homosexuality debates threaten our measure to be faithful Christians for the poor, the infirm, the imprisoned, and those suffering from violence.”

  49. more on the typical fed murder/framing of sirhan:

    http://www.rense.com/politics6/sirhan.htm

    1. Sirhan was out of position and out of range and therefore could not have shot Robert Kennedy. The Senator was shot from behind, but all witnesses place Sirhan in front of him in a face-to-face position. All witnesses placed Sirhan's gun at between 1.5 and 5 feet from Senator Kennedy, but the autopsy findings clearly establish that the Senator was shot from a weapon held somewhere between less than 1 inch and no more than three inches away. All witnesses describe Sirhan's gun as having been held horizontally in a normal standing position, but the autopsy report describes all bullet tracks in Senator Kennedy's body as angled sharply upward, as though fired from below.

. The official autopsy report devastates the prosecution theory that Sirhan shot Robert Kennedy. However, prosecutors illegally withheld this critical document from defense counsel for four months until after the defense had unnecessarily conceded Sirhan's identity as the killer during opening statements to the jury.

Do you think I'm anymore "insular" than most of those Mexican, Latin Amer., Asian and other non-black minority immigrant groups in America? Especially where it concerns their own self-preserving ideals and pre-notions about black people? You seem to be one of those older "I hate whitey" black people who would dig out your own eyeball to support non-black immigrants in America today all because you think you're just socking it to the "white man". No wonder why some of us blacks/black Americans are so blind.

Field said "I have to disagree with you on this one. What's the difference between Mexican, Indians, Eastern Europeans, Asians or any other group, for that matter, moving up on the educational level and leaving black folks behind? Why make the distinction?
    Field.
    "

Field, you and some others always disagree with me on this issue, I have gone through this many times on previous threads for over the past years now. And I was not the one who made any distinction between the immigrant population in my statement above. And why do some of you black West Indian immigrants and some of you black Americans act is if you "owe" others your support, or think if you don't you will look hypocritical in some way? Do you think other non-black immigrants believe they owe black Americans anything after they have ridden our coattails all these generations? Ponder thyself.

Anony 3:16, you took all the words out of my mouth! The human race? LOL. I bet Lucky feels "lucky" where he is he doesn't have to concern himself too much about the boat loads of "blackity black" Haitian, West Indian and black African women who also get economically used/robbed or get deported on a weekly basis without so much of an outrage. Are these women/people not apart of the "human race" as well?

Maybe it is a language barrier for many of the "one language speaking" blacks why there is so much false hope and ideals of minority alliance in this country among other non-black minority groups. Such a shame we can't expend this much energy.

I guess if it isn't spelled out you wont understand. I did not take any position, but I was saying that Black people are already competing with immigrants and it is not with the Mexicans. You seem that you think all Blacks want their children to aspire to low level jobs or that the Mexican's children will not be competing for professional jobs that Blacks already are. In Philly where both Field and I live, there very few Mexicans and the other immigrants are fairly highly educated. Since this city has a high percentage of Black people, many who are professional, they compete with those immigrants.

Unless your position is send all immigrants home, legal as well as illegal, you have no grounds for feeling Black people are going to be anymore adversely affected in the future.

Since I am an old Negro, which has lived in Jim Crow, I'll tell you now that if there were no new immigrants since 1964, the Black position wouldn't be different. Maybe if you actually lived in the continental US, you would understand that.

Though, like many muslims, they probably failed out of college and shifted into radicalism.

    You responded:

How could you fail out of college if you have a degree?

Some of the 9/11 hijackers might have graduated from college. I believe Mohammed Atta did.

As for muslims studying engineering in muslim schools, well, as I said, those schools do not cut it by US accreditation standards. Students at those schools might learn F=MA, but not much more.

They might start their studies in science and engineering, but very likely they switch along the way and never get an actual engineering degree. However, among islamic radicals there's no penalty for lying.

That pattern is common. The typical radical has often failed at science or engineering and then switched to the traditional muslim education of memorizing the Koran and the Haditha, and getting a degree in that area.

As for the my fellow engineering students who were muslims, well, one from Iran was brilliant and transferred to CalTech. It would have been tragic if he were sent back to Iran in 1980.

Another top student was Algerian. But most of the muslim students were focused on islamic politics and religion and protesting the Shah. Meanwhile, for a time it looked as though one male practitioner of the religion of peace might commit an honor killing of one Iranian muslim woman who was dating a non-muslim.

    I asked:

What were you doing in engineering school?

    You said:

I couldn't possibly want an engineering degree, how sexist of you to think so. BTW, my degree is in IT.

Nope. My comment -- no sexism. There were a handful of women in my engineering class -- a couple in mechanical and a couple in electrical. It is the workings inside the heads of women that keep them out of engineering. Nothing else stops them.

Meanwhile, IT is on the borderline. At my university the Engineering Department and the Computer Science Department were separate, therefore, in my view an IT degree is NOT an engineering degree. Moreover, many IT degrees are awarded at two-year tech schools, not four-year engineering schools.

And, yes, being an immigrant my damn self makes me somewhat sensitive to what these folks have to go through.

See what Hathor said. Those folks aren't competing with black folks here for jobs. In fact, I see immigrants (black and white) hiring black folks in their places of business all through Northeast Philly.

Obviously manufacturing is no longer the key to rising prosperity -- in the US. However, if US labor policy were guided by common sense, a lot of manufacturing would stay here.

We've already proven my assertion in the car industry. The transplants operating in non-union states pay their workers very high wages, but not insanely high wages.

Political and economic stability are part of the equation. Venezuela is nationalizing industries, the middle east nationalized the oil industry decades ago.

A few years ago Nigeria nationalized its oil refining industry. In a while, the three state-owned-and-run refineries were is such dilapidated condition they stopped functioning. However, the thugs running Nigeria called in the usual western experts and more-or-less returned them to people who were able to run them.

Meanwhile, Brazil has its own issues. It has always had a lot of promise. But it has always stumbled on delivery. Still it is probably the best of the latin american nations.

I don't see that we are all of that creative lately, when we get a breakthrough in fusion, that is when I think we made it.

Fusion and battery technology are two huge areas. If our MIT/Caltech nerds and geeks unlock those secrets humanity's energy problems will be solved. But even then muslims will find a way to run things into a ditch, ranting that fusion and batteries are an affront to muhammad.

Most of our technology is a variation on the current science.

Science leads to new Technology, which is derived through engineering.

Obviously we are going great in communications. Actually, we're going great wherever we focus. Genetic engineering, pharmaceuticals, bio-emgineering, medical science. The list only gets longer.

The pace of improvements is slowing in some areas, like in mechanical engineering, but cars, planes and ships continue to improve nonetheless.

Guys like Beck tend to be cowards, first and foremost. They're not gonna jump headlong into the racial waters and risk a rapid disowning by mainstream America. Nah, he's gonna slowly wade into the water, getting farther out every time he's gotten used to the temperature. He's waiting for mainstream America to get used to the rhetoric before turning it up a notch. Mainstream America is playing the literal frog in the boiling pot.

This is why Blacks should be more proactive in discrediting and basically shitting on the careers of guys like Beck before they can get mainstream America to not only be comfortable with the stealth bigotry, but before they start enjoying it as well. Once mainstream America gets into the latter stages of the Stanford Prison Experiment, it's a fucking wrap for minorities and most definitely Black folk.

I'd invite even one person to explain tome how we can continue to accomodate more and more unskilled labor flowing over the border? How will day laborers and pickers in California's Central Valley send their kids to college? How will they make it to the middle class? How will they react when they finally realize they're part of a new and growing underclass?

This isn't the nineteenth and twentieth century folks. America is not the promised land it once was. Millions of European immigrants found a path to prosperity with unions and high paying manufacturing work in the mid twentieth century, both of those are now gone.

  108. Mack, which other comment did I make that was "mirrored"? Did you just want something to say?

  109. Well, you got part of it right. So why not speak to that part instead of trying to play therapist? Why not try to be human and Black and speak to the frustration, anger and the racism Blacks have experienced, if you can? Maybe you could help by just acknowledging that Blacks do nothing for themselves but are always willing to do for others, which leaves them sucking wind? Can you relate to that?

Because scores of Blacks before me have been there, done that, got the whip marks, dog bites, bruises and T-shirts to boot. You're asking me to do what many Black people have done and stay relegated to one corner of Black thought.

Then speak to that instead of running all over the place acting like some T-group professor. Just try to be real and open instead.

In other words, be as angry as you? No thanks.

Try defining the other perspective and you will have it. But first you must open your heart.

It's difficult to define what one cannot understand. What it seems to me is that one side (the one that makes sense to me) is talking about people as individuals who must be judged on individual merits and recognized to have individual prejudices and partialities, and the other side is talking about racial/ethnic groups that think and act together en masse to attack and oppress, or to favor and privilege.

The second perspective is useful, perhaps, as a defense mechanism; it keeps one wary and, to a point, suspicious of motives and actions. And while it may be protective, if one never strays from that point of view things never change.

The first perspective risks naivete and accepts a fair amount of vulnerability for the possibility of community building and cohesion. The risks aren't minor, to be sure, but without the risk how can there ever be change?

there is never change without risk race traitor which is why ur comments make sense as does the first approach u outlined hatred never did any body nor any ethnic group any good they have to evolve past the anger to accomplish changes in policy and consciousness otherwise we end up like the favelas where police dont go but the criminals who run them cant leave them either its called a standstill in an underlying civil war and we will go there quickly unless we can move to the first perspective;)

    Someone said:

"the mixed ones that have a black daddy got it the worse"

You ain't NEVER lied with THAT nugget of TRUTH! I had this experience not too long ago and point blank asked if I had missed the Mexicans better than Blacks memo!

La, the name of the game is SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. Quite a few black folks are NOT fit for survival. Anyone that does not know the truth of your words, WILL know in due time! Sis, work on your plan and keep it moving! Don't stress yourself out trying to teach dumb children that embody in their willful ignorance the most racist of stereotypes.

    Field-

I am not interested in sticking it to "the man". I am as forgiving of him, as quite a few black men are of his mother, sisters and daughters.

And frankly, the fact that he is "THE MAN" makes him a WHOLE hell of a lot more appealing than the little, in comparison, gnat that serves only as an inconsequential pest in his futile quest to "stick it" to "the man". Smells like envy to me. The fact that they are "the man" and all...

Just as you have never experienced racism with Mexicans, I have not experienced racism with white men. Now their womenfolk is a DIFFERENT story! Quite a few of them take great offense when a sister is not fat and asexual as the media indicates we are to be. OMG, competition?! It gets messy. LOL!
