I saw his O ness in that town hall meeting today. (Man, talk about mobile vulgus ) He was doing his best to convince the sceptical and troubled group that his economic plan is working, but you could see that it was an up hill battle. One woman was lamenting the loss of the A-merry-can dream, and if his O ness felt her pain I didn't see it. Not that he should have; O has nothing to do with her having to eat "hot dogs and beans." What do you want lady? Steak and eggs? That's what's wrong with A-merry-ca; we have issues with eating "hot dogs and beans" when there are babies in the world who will die tomorrow from f&*^%$g starvation. Besides, from the looks of things you could lay off the "hot dogs and beans" for awhile. Sorry, no patience for haters tonight. Obama, you couldn't say it, so I will say it for you: Yes lady, "hot dogs and beans" could be your new reality for awhile, and trust me, you could do a lot worse.
Anyway, you could see that O wanted to pull on his inner Bill Clinton, but he couldn't do it. He just couldn't project that I am feeling your pain vibe. So he came across as a smug Ivy League educated black (beige) man, which is exactly what he is. I have no problem with it, but A-merry-ca didn't sign up for this. You might be pulling them out of the recession, O man, but they don't like how you are doing it. You are too dam smug; too much of a know it all; you are not one of them. Believe it or not most A-merry-cans like their leaders to seem....well, [un]educated.
"So the challenge, I think, for the Tea Party movement is to identify, specifically, what would you do?"
O, that's the problem, they don't know what they would do. In fact, they wouldn't have a problem with what you are doing if you weren't the one doing it. Hint hint.
"The problem that I've seen in the debate that's been taking place and in some of these Tea Party events is, I think they're misidentifying sort of who the culprits are here," said Obama. "

Sorry O man, they are not "misidentifying" anything; you are the culprit. Not because of your policies, but because of...well, who you are. (Hint hint) Did you see a rise of the teabag folks under Carter? How about under Johnson when the country was being "fundamentally changed" with all types of social programs to fight poverty? Did you see it under Nixon? Under FDR? How about under Clinton when he was getting his freak in in the people's house? Why no nationwide outcry and movement then? (Field, they did try to impeach him. Yes, how did that work out? And not they- as in the the people- a bunch of partisan wingnut congressmen tried to impeach him.) How about Beckkk's favorite whipping boy, Woodrow Wilson? Hmmm, no tea party uprising under Wilson? The biggest Socialist of them all? Color me shocked.
Well what is it that could be driving these passionate teabag folks?
I have an idea, but let me think about it and get back to you. Because, you never know, I could be wrong. It just might be that they are all like the poor lady in the town hall meeting who doesn't want to eat hot dogs.
It pains me to read, hear and see the disappointment in the President. I understand it and sometimes I wince when I watch him mis-fire when he reacts. Interesting you bring up Clinton's "I feel your pain." He was great at it. Bush always looked confused. I felt Carter really cared but couldn't connect with Congress. Carter, btw, has a book out, his journal/diary of his days in the White House. I heard him interviewed on "60 Minutes" last night and he said he was able to pass more bills than Clinton, Bush I or II or Reagan. THAT, if true, is impressive.
ReplyDeleteObama does need to connect the way he did when he was running. I just wonder what has happened. Has the gravity of the country's situation overcome him? Doesn't even matter. If he doesn't convince people he's already put through some amazing accomplishments, tho' imperfect, he will not be re-elected and may have to wait 30 years, like Carter, to make his case.
Field, how many times must I tell you that there is only ONE "k" in Beck's last name? What's the matter with you, are you a racist?
ReplyDeleteYes...the old hotdog days. At one point in time (late 70's early 80's) you could get turkey hotdogs for 49 cents a pound. Cheapest protein out there even including eggs. I had so many hot dog recipes that I was thinking of writing a cookbook. You just have to adjust your attitude...breakfast sausages, hot dogs for lunch, tube steaks for dinner. I still like hot dogs, my husband not so much....
ReplyDeleteOur President is not quite the smooth talker that he was. I guess from his history, he really cannot quite come across as having been "born in a log cabin" or without a "silver spoon in his mouth." Does it give he credibility that he does not try to come across as a poor boy who worked his way up instead of the fairly middle class upbringing that he had?

ReplyDeleteThe Angry Rich
By PAUL KRUGMAN
Anger is sweeping America. True, this white-hot rage is a minority phenomenon, not something that characterizes most of our fellow citizens. But the angry minority is angry indeed, consisting of people who feel that things to which they are entitled are being taken away. And they’re out for revenge.
No, I’m not talking about the Tea Partiers. I’m talking about the rich.
These are terrible times for many people in this country. Poverty, especially acute poverty, has soared in the economic slump; millions of people have lost their homes. Young people can’t find jobs; laid-off 50-somethings fear that they’ll never work again.
Yet if you want to find real political rage — the kind of rage that makes people compare President Obama to Hitler, or accuse him of treason — you won’t find it among these suffering Americans. You’ll find it instead among the very privileged, people who don’t have to worry about losing their jobs, their homes, or their health insurance, but who are outraged, outraged, at the thought of paying modestly higher taxes.
The rage of the rich has been building ever since Mr. Obama took office. At first, however, it was largely confined to Wall Street. Thus when New York magazine published an article titled “The Wail Of the 1%,” it was talking about financial wheeler-dealers whose firms had been bailed out with taxpayer funds, but were furious at suggestions that the price of these bailouts should include temporary limits on bonuses. When the billionaire Stephen Schwarzman compared an Obama proposal to the Nazi invasion of Poland, the proposal in question would have closed a tax loophole that specifically benefits fund managers like him.
Now, however, as decision time looms for the fate of the Bush tax cuts — will top tax rates go back to Clinton-era levels? — the rage of the rich has broadened, and also in some ways changed its character.
For one thing, craziness has gone mainstream. It’s one thing when a billionaire rants at a dinner event. It’s another when Forbes magazine runs a cover story alleging that the president of the United States is deliberately trying to bring America down as part of his Kenyan, “anticolonialist” agenda, that “the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s.” When it comes to defending the interests of the rich, it seems, the normal rules of civilized (and rational) discourse no longer apply.
At the same time, self-pity among the privileged has become acceptable, even fashionable.
Tax-cut advocates used to pretend that they were mainly concerned about helping typical American families. Even tax breaks for the rich were justified in terms of trickle-down economics, the claim that lower taxes at the top would make the economy stronger for everyone.
These days, however, tax-cutters are hardly even trying to make the trickle-down case. Yes, Republicans are pushing the line that raising taxes at the top would hurt small businesses, but their hearts don’t really seem in it. Instead, it has become common to hear vehement denials that people making $400,000 or $500,000 a year are rich. I mean, look at the expenses of people in that income class — the property taxes they have to pay on their expensive houses, the cost of sending their kids to elite private schools, and so on. Why, they can barely make ends meet.
And among the undeniably rich, a belligerent sense of entitlement has taken hold: it’s their money, and they have the right to keep it. “Taxes are what we pay for civilized society,” said Oliver Wendell Holmes — but that was a long time ago.
The spectacle of high-income Americans, the world’s luckiest people, wallowing in self-pity and self-righteousness would be funny, except for one thing: they may well get their way. Never mind the $700 billion price tag for extending the high-end tax breaks: virtually all Republicans and some Democrats are rushing to the aid of the oppressed affluent.
ReplyDeleteYou see, the rich are different from you and me: they have more influence. It’s partly a matter of campaign contributions, but it’s also a matter of social pressure, since politicians spend a lot of time hanging out with the wealthy. So when the rich face the prospect of paying an extra 3 or 4 percent of their income in taxes, politicians feel their pain — feel it much more acutely, it’s clear, than they feel the pain of families who are losing their jobs, their houses, and their hopes.
And when the tax fight is over, one way or another, you can be sure that the people currently defending the incomes of the elite will go back to demanding cuts in Social Security and aid to the unemployed. America must make hard choices, they’ll say; we all have to be willing to make sacrifices.
But when they say “we,” they mean “you.” Sacrifice is for the little people.
Field, I think she was brave and sincere to come out and say what she had to say. Yes Bush put us in this mess, and Obama doesn't have a magic wand, but its becoming tiresome already. Why are we still funding a senseless war, next we are going to drain more resources trying to rebuild the same countries - only to start the foolishness all over again in the next years. There are Americans who still can't even afford to build a damn roof over their heads right here in America.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those who are going to attack her over food, I believe she used "hotdog and beans" as a figurative statement of having to compromise ones lifestyle in general.
Yes there are people worldwide who are starving, but this lady is not living in those places. She is in "America" (where people are hungry too) and working hard like many of us. She is not sitting back on her ass collecting hand outs.
For all the high utility bills, astronomical rent/mortgages, crazy back bending jobs and overall hustle that many of us have to put up with in "America" and its territories, if someone doesn't want to eat hotdogs or Ramen noodles five days a week then they shouldn't have to.
what i posted was NYT...i think it needs to be stressed that the tea party is funded by rich, white conservatives who are angry about their stock portfolios. and they're using people who in the main just cranky old people who are pissed we have a black president.
ReplyDeleteField, "Believe it or not most A-merry-cans like their leaders to seem....well, [un]educated."
ReplyDeleteYou are an Obamaholic who is blind to the American way of life. FYI: Americans like their leaders educated but they also like their leaders to be able to "relate" to them. Obama comes up very short in the latter. He seemed to be able to relate to the people who elected him. He came off as if the whole catastrophe is just an academic exercise. Like a professor, he was very aloof. Face it. He really should be a professor where it doesn't matter whether he can feel or not.
But don't try to cover for his 'inability' to relate to the people insulting the people.
stupid Maria, is that woman who doesn't want to eat hot dog mad she has a black pres?
ReplyDeleteField, did you notice that the woman whining that she might have to go back to eating hot dogs and beans was Black? Only a bw would say some arrogant dumb shit like that. Homeless people are all over the country eating out of garbage cans and the woman is worried about the "possibility" of having to eat hot dogs and beans instead of steak.
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of her, she could stop eating any kind of meat for the duration of this recession and still need to lose more weight.

Maria, I liked that: the rage of the rich. That was really an interesting read.

ReplyDeleteLady, regardless to whether it is hot dogs and beans, poke chops, or rib tips; it is obvious that you have been having to many of them.
The other 3-members of your family, double large too?
You belied your vocation as a CFO; a person with any financial acumen would know that the nations problems could not be solved by POTUS Obama in 20-months.
I am glad POTUS Obama schooled your punk-addz.

Anon2, when you pick up your food stamps I doubt you buy hotdogs or share with the homeless people.
ReplyDeleteHot dogs and beans are no longer cheap. Try dry beans and rice with cabbage.
ReplyDelete"Anon2, when you pick up your food stamps I doubt you buy hotdogs or share with the homeless people."
ReplyDeleteNow see, that's called "playing the dozens". Why did you have to go there with the poor Anon.? I am going to reach out to the leader of Anon Inc. and apologize for you.
Why all these silly people rush to the aid of the affluent when there is not a whole lot in it for them. It's the same tactics that the Republican party uses. Get people that are ignorant on the real issues backing you up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday soon people will wakeup and realize the errors of their ways. It takes people realizing that who they were backing up really never had their best interest in mind in order for them to understand the seriousness of our current situation.
Like the pic FN. My favorite food *hot dogs*-Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack - any style..I prefer Nathans with a side of UTZ Hot and Sweet Chips(the best).

That's EXACTLY how I feel on the daily. I got tired of working 2 job, if it wasn't for my raise I'd still be doing it. Good comment.
But you got to admit Obama was looking uncomfortable for a minute..a loooong minute.
ReplyDeleteLAA, "Anon2, when you pick up your food stamps I doubt you buy hotdogs or share with the homeless people."
ReplyDeleteI share what I can, even my food stamps.
People do become very emotional and have a need to have someone like the President to connect with the ordinary folks. However, he is not in an ordinary position. I have said this many times, presidents can have little effect over the economy. He or she can certainly put some policies in place, but no guarantee that it is going to work and turn around the economy. His life and my life are completely different and we certainly do not work the same job, on that note he doesn't identify with me nor me with him. He leads the country, he doesn't manages the corner gas station. In addition, we are talking about a recession that is not going to turn around for another two to three years and no guarantee that unemployment will go no down no lower than 7%. Some jobs will not return and companies are in the position at the moment to streamline their businesses with upgraded technology and that may mean more job losses. Another reality some Americans will have to face is not everyone can purchase a home, but probably push for more affordable housing. If anyone paid attention to the poverty report that was published on Thursday one in every seven American live at or below the poverty line which means additional 4 million people, and poverty is at its highest in 15 years, and that does make sense as Clinton signed the Welfare reform bill about 16 years ago, and what people still do not know is that poverty rose doing his administration.
ReplyDeleteI think we give Presidents too much or too little credit. Carter was a better president that some people gave him credit for, and he too was also accused of not feeling the people's pain, and when he finally made that realization by giving a speech that the country was addicted to oil (Bush was not the first President coin the phase) and conserve energy, it was too late.
I am not disappointed with the President's performance. I voted for him to lead the country, not have a beer with me. The playing field is not equal, and yet some people seem to think so. Quite frankly, not a single person me included would want to be his shoes because he has deal with the American people who complain about his performance and truthfully wouldn't want to trade places with him. Sure there are some things I do not agree with, but also know that he not Moses. We constantly look for a symbolic savior to save us, but also have to realize that some of this is also self-inflicted. I do not buy into the American Dream because why on earth do I want the same dream as someone else. My idea of success and living life is completely different than someone else. The idea of homogeneous american lifestyle never made sense to me because it was created by someone else's idea, a marketing ploy if you will. If anyone watches the show Mad Men, I think you will get a different perspective.
Democrats become too complacent, and they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Republicans and the Tea Party do not possess any ideas or problem-solving skills whatsoever, but they talk the loudest and longest to get their constituents angry and will show up at the polls. While disappointed and disillusions democratic voters will sit and stay home, and we get what we deserve because we do not get off our assess to do anything about it. We will not write letters, food contaminated is recalled, and I do not see a crowd of people out there to protest. In South Korean when cows had mad cow disease, a 100,000 came out to protest. We when do not protest, write letters to congressmen and senators about our grievances and concerns. We talk about how crazy the tea party is, but you know they are gaining traction and it's time to stop laughing because people will listen to them because there is nothing else to listen to.
Field, "Now see, that's called "playing the dozens". Why did you have to go there with the poor Anon.? I am going to reach out to the leader of Anon Inc. and apologize for you."
ReplyDeleteDear Field, some of our agents ARE on food stamps. I don't appreciate you and LAA making light of our agents because they happen to be very poor. Mr. Field, I am quite surprised that you would stoop so low, considering your claim to be a progressive human being who stands up for the little guy. But maybe all of that Beck and Limbaugh chasing has had an unintentional effect on you.
LAA, be glad that you aren't on food stamps or homeless, because it is a very hard life. I sometimes sell streetwise and eat out of garbage cans. I lost a homeless friend over the weekend. You wouldn't last for more than a day. There just isn't enough food or food stamps out there to feed your well-fed gargantuan body.
Any way, may you and Field continue to prosper and never know what it's like to be poor and hungry.
Anyone here looking to sell some stamps?

What President Obama wanted to say to the lady is "you should know better." She claims to be a CFO with two children in private school. President Obama knows her problem is not the economy but probably her reckless spending.
ReplyDeleteThe president is supposed to "feel people's pain"? I understand that people want someone who is sympathetic to their plight, but I believe people are looking for an overly emotional response, in order to satisfy their own psychological need for reality show-style theatrics. It's the real world, but it's not the "Real World".
ReplyDelete"Why all these silly people rush to the aid of the affluent when there is not a whole lot in it for them. It's the same tactics that the Republican party uses. Get people that are ignorant on the real issues backing you up."
For the same reason people rush to the aid of celebrities and sports figures. The less affluent not only look up to them, but they also dream of becoming one of them, or at least either being offered a seat at the table or at the very minimum, having a few crumbs thrown their way. People were receptive to "trickle-down economics" because it held the possibility of the wannabes catching a few drops. Instead, it turned out to be a golden shower, as the wealthy simply took the money that was supposed to "trickle-down" and added it to their ever-growing coffers. Meanwhile, the not-so-affluent were still holding their cups out, praying for rain, while eating the same shit sandwich being offered up by "fiscally conservative" Republicans and corporate interests.
"Field, did you notice that the woman whining that she might have to go back to eating hot dogs and beans was Black? Only a bw would say some arrogant dumb shit like that."
The above statement could only come from someone who either wants to crack racism in a passive-aggressive manner or someone who is even more ignorant than the Black woman he's attempting to put down.
Translation: You need to shut your dumb ass up.
"From the looks of her, she could stop eating any kind of meat for the duration of this recession and still need to lose more weight."
There's this odd thing about starving to lose weight. As it so happens, when the body is put into starvation mode, not only are you burning away fat, but you're also burning away pretty much anything else that can be metabolized, including muscle (those starving kids in Africa don't have much muscle mass). It's akin to throwing books and furniture into a fireplace. Meanwhile, the body chemistry changes so that it becomes much easier to pack on reserve fat, insuring that the body never has to burn muscle again just in case. It explains why it's hard for some fat folk to lose weight (because they're burning through tons of reserve fat) and why the weight comes back twice as quick (because the body wants to return to what it's accustomed to).
O, that's the problem, they don't know what they would do. In fact, they wouldn't have a problem with what you are doing if you weren't the one doing it. Hint hint. - that's it in a nutshell wrapped with a aesthetically pleasing bow around it. Period

ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting take on your comments that I am biased and voted for Obama because he is black. First of all he is black and white. I still have a problem with him concerning the policy of detainees because more or less the same, and there is also the drone attacks over Pakistan that has increased since he became President, and didn't hide the fact that he would set up the war in Afghanistan. More than likely, he will eventually have to pull out troops.
Yes, I did have a problem with Bush because he simply was incompetent. Bush is probably an alright person, but he simply was not a good leader.
Whew...did I write "patients" and not patience? Yes I did. Hang with me folks, I live close to Delaware. I had a Sarah ight moment. :)

field, you wrote:
ReplyDeleteSorry O man, they are not "misidentifying" anything; you are the culprit. Not because of your policies...
Yes. Because his policies are FAILING. Have you noticed that NONE of Obama's recovery plans are working?
His mortgage strategies are incontestable FAILURES.
His claims of tax cuts for small businesses are outright lies. Why? Because most small businesses are Subchapter S corporations that do NOT pay taxes. Thus, a cut in tax rates means nothing.
Did you see a rise of the teabag folks under Carter?
Yes. A huge opposition to Carter appeared. It grew when he decided Exxon was evil because it earned a profit. The opposition grew when Carter went into total wimp mode after the hostages were taken at the US embassy in Tehran.
Carter made things worse when he ended Regulation Q, a banking rule. Ending that regulation started the Savings & Loan Crisis that exploded several years later. Obviously the voters were taking notes and Carter was brutally dumped after one term.
How about under Johnson when the country was being "fundamentally changed" with all types of social programs to fight poverty?
Yes. There was plenty of opposition to Johnson's "Great Society." Moreover, the country is still dealing with the tragic legacy of the Public Housing Nightmare created by Johnson. As you know, it was a horrifying failure.
Did you see it under Nixon?
The Vietnam War was a major issue. But rising crime rates were also on the public mind, and that led to a focus on blacks. Also, busing was a growing issue, and as a result, whites accelerated their pace of moving out of cities and into suburbs. A quiet revolution.
How about under Clinton when he was getting his freak in in the people's house? Why no nationwide outcry and movement then? (Field, they did try to impeach him.)
He WAS impeached.

That’s why, mindful of the tremendous pressures that have been brought to bear by the administration to avoid embarrassing the president and his party on the eve of congressional elections, strong majorities of the United National Anti-War Conference (UNAC), held in Albany, New York, in late July, endorsed a series of demands to be put forward at the October 2 rally, and beyond. These demands will be reflected in the placards carried by thousands of demonstrators concentrated in the UNAC contingent at the “One Nation” rally:
* $Trillions for jobs and education, not wars and bank bailouts.
* Bring the troops, mercenaries and war dollars home from Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, now!
* Stop government attacks on unions, Muslims, immigrants and people of color. Civil liberties for all.
* End U.S aid to Israel. Billions for jobs, not occupation. End the siege of Gaza. Free Palestine!
The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations is in agreement with the four demands, and will rally alongside the UNAC contingent on the Washington Mall. Black is Back will also demand an end to the ongoing wars waged against Black people here at home, through mass Black incarceration, police terror and constant economic aggression against Black communities.
“Any peace movement worthy of the name must demand withdrawal NOW.”
There is no point in going to a demonstration for jobs, social justice and peace if you are not going to make substantive demands. It is the Obama administration that is waging wars of aggression in Asia and Africa; the Congress – including, most of the time, most Democrats –funds these wars. President Obama always claims to be in the process of ending his wars, even as he escalates, just as did George Bush. Any peace movement worthy of the name must demand withdrawal NOW.

By far the biggest share of the bank bailouts that ultimately netted Wall Street $12 to $14 trillion of the people’s money were finagled by the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury, both directly or indirectly accountable to Barack Obama. If you have any complaints about the bailouts, lay them at Obama’s doorstep, where they belong. Demand he stop the wealth transfers to Wall Street, NOW!
ReplyDelete“If you have any complaints about the bailouts, lay them at Obama’s doorstep, where they belong.”
It is the government under President Obama that entraps and frames Muslims (largely African Americans) on terror charges, harries and deports more undocumented immigrants than did the Bush regime, fails to defend working people’s rights to organize, and maintains what is arguably the most thoroughly racist criminal justice system on the face of the planet. Obama is the executive in charge. Demand in plain language that he use all his powers to end the injustices.
The plank on Israel was the most hotly contested of the Albany conference, and caused a small minority of attendees and participating organizations to leave the United National Anti-War Committee. Too damn bad. It is long past time that the American anti-war movement make a decisive break with Israel, as the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) did way back in 1967. An anti-war movement that seeks to rein in its own government’s aggressions in the world but fails to condemn apartheid Israel’s ceaseless violations of international law and crimes against humanity since the birth of the state, has no credibility.
The Obama administration’s water carriers within the October 2 rally’s sponsoring organizations will doubtless seek to transform the occasion into a campaign event for the Democrats. It is up to the crowd to demonstrate righteous discontent with the powers-that-be, and call the malefactors out by name. If that’s your preference, hang with UNAC and Black is Back. You’ll identify them by their clear and insistent demands – which is how it should be.

AB, that's it right there. Since the concerns were directed to Obama the poor woman became subjected to being called a bitch, arrogant, and down right fat. Talk about mean spirited.
This is how I know people like Steve is truly sexist and willful. Rottenkid, I know you and I duke it out, but I've always realized that you work hard to handle your business. If you're an honest person who work hard above and beyond to make ends meet you can truly appreciate what this lady was saying, its not even about dogging the president because he's black.

section of Black America has lost their minds – literally – unable to make contact with reality since November 2008. Despite the horrific and disproportionate damage suffered by Blacks in the Great Recession, a psychologically impaired group of African Americans believes they are better off than before the recession began, and that the future is bright. When Obama entered, their powers of reason exited.
http://www.theroot.com/blogs/child-poverty/obamas-tepid-response-widespread-us-poverty
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 14.3 percent of Americans are now living in poverty, the most since 1994. For blacks, that rate is 25.8 percent, almost three times the white poverty rate of 9.4 percent. This is downright scary, but you'd not guess it by looking at Obama's statement, which tries to slough off the doom by saying that it "remind[s] us that a historic recession does not have to translate into historic increases in family economic insecurity."
That woman said what millions of people are thinking. However, considering much of the blind support for anything Obama does-and the fact that it's socially acceptable anywhere to dog out a black woman to the nth degree-she's getting serious heat for it.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope that Obama gets the message: his base of support is shrinking.

As you and I both know, YOU cannot read financial statements. Hence, when it comes to economic issues, you are lost. More lost than usual.
However, when it comes to economics and finance, most blacks are in the same blank state as you.
Unfortunately, Obama knows even less about the economy than you. That's frightening.
Meanwhile, banking -- investment banking, commercial banking and community banking -- is going through big changes. Some good, some bad.
But nothing good will come from the half-baked plans emerging from Obama's team.

You're so right about us Americans thinking the worst thing in the world is that we have to eat beans and hot dogs. We're also so insulated we don't recognize how the world has changed and that the country's economy is influenced by the global economy.
In any case, Obama's going to be blamed as are most presidents blamed for a nation's failures, except some people will think Obama's failure=black men shouldn't be president. This will come as a disappointment to the naive people who thought he was Superman.
Rambling. Sorry.
For most of my working life through 5 presidents and with both Democratic and Republican administrations, that I have not been in a tenuous situation pursuing the American Dream.
ReplyDeleteThere hasn't been the stability of the economy that existed after WWII to the Vietnam War, since then. Energy has been the primary force for that instability, then the nomination of the money industry. The manipulation of the stock market and the creation of bad paper(derivatives, etc) have replaced productive jobs. The service industry replaced manufacturing, which the loyalty of industry to the American system allowed them to move them elsewhere.
For some one who is not one paycheck from being homeless speaking of having to eat hot dogs and beans is being totally disrespectful for those whose have worked hard and still treaded water all of their lives.
As I implied earlier, she is so far removed that she doesn't even know that hot dogs and beans is not a cheap meal.

First, I have two sons. No daughters. Second, as the Girl Named Stanley learned, being impregnated by Obama's father was the worst of her many mistakes.
But obviously her problems began before she was born when it was clear her father wanted a son he could name Stanley. What made him inflict this cruelty on her?
Obviously, as a result of this bizarre form of child abuse, she spent much of life in rebellion.
As for Obama's grandfather, the Kenyan king, well, we all know how well those tribal monarchies have fared. It's great the way those tribal bigwigs moved their loyal subjects from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age, and it's especially impressive how they got to the Bronze Age by the end of the 20th century. I know. Good things take time.

Buy BP stock.
Today, it's about $38 a share. In two years it will trade close to $70 and the company will have restarted its dividend payments.

Today, almost nobody in the social sciences seems willing to touch the subject of America's large white underclass; or, being firmly placed in the true middle class themselves, can even agree that such a thing exists. Apparently, you can't smell the rabble from the putting green.
Public discussion of this class remains off limits, deemed hyperbole and the stuff of dangerous radical leftists. And besides, as everyone agrees, white people cannot be an underclass. We're the majority, dammit. You must be at least one shade darker than a paper bag to officially qualify as a member of any underclass. The middle and upper classes generally agree, openly or tacitly, that white Americans have always had an advantage (which has certainly been the middle- and upper-class experience). Thus, in politically correct circles, either liberal or conservative, the term 'white underclass' is an oxymoron. Sure, there are working-poor whites, but not that many, and definitely not enough to be called a white underclass, much less an American peasantry.

ReplyDeleteas stupid invisible assnons and other hobama nazi fools sweat hot dogs and beans...they ignore the meat and potatos of the VALID queries posed to hobama:
ReplyDeleteNor is it surprising who fared most poorly in 2009. While the overall poverty rate climbed to 14.3 percent -- one in seven -- more than a quarter of both African Americans and Latinos lived in poverty last year. The data for poor children is the most arresting. Nearly 36 percent of black kids and 33 percent of Latino kids were poor in 2009, as were 38.5 percent of all families headed by single moms. Stop and try to digest this data: More than a third of all black and Latino kids are growing up destitute. With numbers like that, how can we talk meaningfully about a future of any kind, let alone a better one?
It’s a question the whole nation would do well to consider. Because the troubles of black and brown families are better understood as leading indicators than outliers.

http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199-981000/Faith-in-the-future-gratefulness.html
As I reflect on these traits of resilience within the context of the organization for which I work, I think of people like Senator John McCain (R-AZ), a former prisoner of war in Vietnam who showed remarkable resilience and tenacity not only in surviving his imprisonment but in taking that experience to propel him toward becoming a successful politician. Senator McCain even made a strong run for the United States presidency in 2000. Were he not a person of resilience, he could have become beaten, defeated, and bitter following his war experience long ago. But his resilient heart beats on to this day. In spite of his failure to win the Republican nomination for the 2000 election, Senator McCain continues to fight for his causes, passionately championing campaign finance reform in Congress.
I see you, Velma “I’m tired of defending you” Hart!

ReplyDeleteNo, Field, the problem is that he is not pulling us out of the recession. Everything he has down has extended the recession.
Increasing the debt to astronomical levels.
Creating uncertainty by making up the rules as he goes along.
Instead of using stimulus money for infrastructure, it all went to paying off public sector unions.
Pursuing an energy policy designed to create scarcity and raise costs.
Obama has pursued policies that were dreamed up 30 or 40 years ago and take no account of the world as it is in 2010. He is a damn train wreck.
