Today was a good day. (For some people.)

It was a good day for me here in A-merry-ca:Rush Limp-boy got "punked." I know my man is busy these days, but there is more to research than just Wiki. I hope all the Limp-boy faithful out there remembers this the next time they go quoting the drug addict with the golden mike.

It was also a good day for Sarah light. Girlfriend raised almost a million dollars since her big win last night. Nice. Watch your money folks; let's just say that Sara light doesn't have the greatest record when it comes to managing money.

It might have been a good day for moi and Sarah light, but I bet the last few days haven't been good for Andrew Collins. The poor brotha watched one too many Extreme Games and thought he could ride his bike on the sidewalk in the city of Dallas. Well, the po po in Big D wasn't having it, and, as po pos will do from time to time; they Rodney Kinged his ass. But, not to worry people, the police chief is black. He has the situation under control.....

It can't be a good day for the family of Irving Santana, either. Irving was shot 13 times by a man who saw him breaking into his car here in Philly. Damn! I mean I know that the wages of sin is death but this is ridiculous. Anyhooo, seems the shooter had a history of violence, and Philly's finest revoked his gun permit back in 2005. Well, thanks to the powerful gun lobby here in A-merry-ca, my man was able to apply online and get a permit from gator country.

"Hill allegedly caught Santana breaking into his car.

Police say Hill had his gun permit revoked in 2005 and lost an appeal to get it reinstated in 2008.

They say in 2009, Hill applied online and received a gun permit from Florida, despite having no ties to the state.

"His gun permit was revoked, he appealed it, and he was still able to acquire that gun permit," Deputy Police Commissioner William Blackburn said.

Hill is charged with murder and other related offenses."

Sorry Irving, I guess it's too late for you to learn that you don't mess with a black man's car.

Finally, it can't be a good day if you are one of the 43.6 million A-merry-cans living in poverty.

Poverty here in A-merry-ca is at its highest levels since 1994. That is not good. But don't worry folks, this won't last for long. When the republicans are back in power they will cut taxes for the rich so that they will start hiring poor people again. Wait...whoops, sorry, I take that back.

147 comments:

  1. Was the alleged shooter found not guilty of the previous incidents?

"According to State Rep. Brian Lentz, the defendant’s gun permit was revoked in 2005 because he was charged with attempted murder. Hill also assaulted a police officer in court in 2008."

The one thing that saves Obama's presidency is a return of the congress to republicans. As soon as that happens, business investment will shoot up and the ecnomy will roar back to life, just in time for O-man to take credit in 2012.

It worked for Clinton in 94....

No amount of money will make O'Donnell's wacky past go away (reference link below). She has an undeniable appeal to the Tea Birthers and the Talibaptists, two vocal groups that make noise disproportionate to their actual numbers.

  6. Hey Field, regarding the link on your side bar: "Storro originally claimed a black woman with a ponytail threw acid in her face at night on Aug. 30 as she was celebrating a new job and had just bought a pair of sunglasses."

Does anybody remember when this was discussed on a previous comment section on this blog? Also including other black blogs and websites online. The verdict was already in against black women with ponytails.

Yet remember when that crazy white woman carved her face with a backward B and blamed a black man? Even before knowing it was a backward B, remember how fast and easy it was for us black folks to call it bullshit?

Yet this whitish woman was easily given the benefit with all those inconsistencies. And possibly because her so call attacker was a black female it seemed "likely that the black woman was jealous of her white looks". LOL.

She should have burned her mouth and face off completely. And some black people on this blog need to eat their crow. Sick people. I think I'm ready to join a Cerulean colored race now.

The post at 9:09pm makes sense. Big Business has been holding out for a republican takeover so they can continue to rape the country. Keep this in mind for the next election; it won't be the Blacks, the Mexicans, The Gays, or The Muslims who take this country down, it will be greed. Who supports the greed? Republicans!

The bm should not have been riding that bike on the sidewalk. And Santana should not have been trying to break into someone's car.

Bad things can happen to people who do that.

Poverty is rampart and growing, thanks to the rising unemployment rate of Blacks, which Obama and the Dems are responsible for. I am looking forward to the Dems being ousted this November and Obama being replaced in 2012. We need a change from the run-of-the-mill politician. O'Donnell, Paladino, and others across the country are the sound of change that Americans need to lift this country up to where it should be.

These are exciting times; and they are times to take action. Thank goodness there is another party rising up. You see folks, you must take ACTION...that's something most Blacks don't know much about. Most talk, but too lazy to take action. Of course, this 'talkin' has been a tradition in the Black Community for decades...the only race that can't or won't back up its word. Blacks don't value their word...And you wonder why you are ignored?

I wonder what the White Dems think about this? probably nothing much. But the tea partiers are incensed that Storro would do such a thing so wrong. HONESTY, INTEGRITY, AND GOD...is the pure conscience that is sweeping the country among Whites, Cablinasians and other non-Blacks.

Actually, money saved (assuming it's not stuffed in a mattress) is money invested, whether directly or indirectly, and money invested generally creates better industries and better jobs and more sustainable long-term growth and prosperity than money spent on consumer goods (or money taken by the government and channeled through government bureaucracies to favored constituencies, for that matter).

Steve, why don't you stop with your taunting games. Exposing colorism within the black community, doesn't always have to be driven from having some sort of "dark" skin tone complex. The truth is the truth.

Also, I am not against Hispanics/Latinos/Chicanos. I have mentioned on this blog a few times before, I also have variations of Hispanic backgrounds. I've probably been exposed to more of the various "Hispanic/Latino" cultures from south America on up than you have.

But I am not afraid to call a spade a spade regarding the influx of the non-black Spanish boom and the negative impact it may eventually have on black identified people in the US and Caribbean diaspora - especially due to racism and colorism. Please stop, listen and try to understand.

And what does the black feminist concerns I share on this blog have to do with going out to attack black female conservative blogs? You just don't like black women holding their own opinions, you could care less if they attack other black women. Don't try to feed me that fodder to help fight your resentful cause.

"Do you forget or ignore that black people rushed to the defense of Tawana Brawley and Crystal Mangum when they made their false claims?"

And that's because victimized black women are noticed only when they can be used as victimized pawns against the "ebol white man" or the racist system. And who said their claims were false, did they come out and say that? NO. Now if their alleged attackers were black, its likely the black community in particular would have cast them off a long time ago and accuse them of trying to bring brother a brother down. Ask the black female victims of Eldridge Cleaver, Clearance Thomas, Mike Tyson, R. Kelly etc..

And I'm no more "paranoid" than the black man.

California is a huge state desperate for more electricity production. But no NEW power stations have been built in CA for decades. Why? Environmental laws.

Repeal them and major construction projects will begin.

Detroit is a failure. Environmental laws are part of the problem. If fleet mileage laws were dropped, Detroit would recapture a lot of customers and rehire many autoworkers.

There are vast reserves of oil on US land and off our coasts. If drilling restrictions were lifted, oil companies would hire large numbers of workers at very high wages to find, drill for, pump, refine and market the oil products.

No new oil refineries have been built in the US for decades. Instead, old refineries are refurbished. Why? Restrictive environmental laws.

It's long past time to build new refineries, which would require the work of large numbers of highly paid American workers.

Lumbering is restricted on lots of US land, including private land. Thus, lots of lumber and wood products are imported from Canada.

Like oil, wood products and others that are abundant in the US are imported only because environmental laws force the importation. Americans lose. Other nations gain at our expense. Ridiculous.

Republicans would change laws that lead to easily reversible job losses.

Why is it that the fastest selling car in the U.S. is the Toyota Corolla which gets 30+ miles to the gallon, do you REALLY think that with gas prices where they are people would flock to buy a car that got half of that? I mean a normal person not one who like Rush goes out of his way to harm the environment? And California can build solar powerplants, how many jobs would that create? Your examples of "job killing" legislation by Dems have been shown to just be Republican talking points created by industries that do not want to be legislated. Wow. It's hard to get around that ignorant of a statement. First off, automation has wiped out tons of jobs over the years. Secondly, automakers moved all kinds of jobs out of the cities to the suburbs, which went along way in killing the city of Detroit itself.

Also the big three have been moving jobs out of the country for sometime. Mexican autoworkers make about ten percent of what your typical American autoworker make. You can't drop wages low enough to compete with that. Meanwhile, GM has invested over three billion in plants in Mexico while they closed eight plants here since 2005.

Ford just built a plant in Mexico as well-creating 2,000 jobs. Like GM they've invested about three billion in a foreign country. How much do their workers make? They make about four dollars an hour.

The letter "B" was written on the woman's face with a Magic Marker. Not carved into her skin. No injury. No blood. Moreover, she was a McCain campaign worker who thought she was helping her candidate.

By the way, after hearing about the incident, McCain said nothing accusatory or racially insensitive.

As for hoax's, the first sign is evident when the injuries sustained by the purported victim are minor or almost non-existent.

Moreover, women rarely risk damaging their faces. That's one reason the McCain woman wrote on her face with a Magic Marker.

Storro actually put acid on her face and injured herself, which means she is truly a bit nuts.

Al Sharpton said the n-word was CUT in the the skin of Tawana Brawley. In fact, she was marked with something washable, but apparently quite stinky.

Crystal Mangum claimed she was raped by Duke lacrosse players. But DNA tests showed the Duke players were the only males in three states who had NOT had sex with Crystal in the last 48 hours.

As other hoax claims made by various criminals, as we know, the criminals are either in jail or dead.

Do the lies told by criminals really matter if the truth eventually comes out?

First of all oil companies have leases on many sites that are not environmentally sensitive but are not drilling, what's the hold up?

Oil companies drill the least expensive wells whenever possible. There are places in the US where drilling is permitted where the oil is very, very deep underground, or accessible only from extremely rugged terrain. Those reserves will be the last we exploit.

But offshore reserves and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge are two areas where oil is easily accessed. But drillers are blocked.

You say mileage laws are preventing the auto industry from flurishing? Why is it that the fastest selling car in the U.S. is the Toyota Corolla which gets 30+ miles to the gallon, do you REALLY think that with gas prices where they are people would flock to buy a car that got half of that?

The point of repealing mileage standards is to let consumers buy what they want and for manufacturers to build what they want.

Detroit will build any vehicle it can sell. But because Ford and GM are big, the mileage rules hurt their businesses.

After WWII most imports were either sporty cars or high-mileage cars like the VW Beetle. Meanwhile, most US cars were big and burned a lot of gas. Then consumer tastes began to change and Detroit began to learn the art of building cars that get good mileage.

Now, however, they are forced to build cars that get high mileage. As you should know from the GM bankruptcy, mixing union power and government mileage mandates equals disaster.

And California can build solar powerplants, how many jobs would that create?

Jobs from solar plants? Close to zero.

Solar energy costs about 10 times as much as electricity made from gas and coal. Are you ready to pay 10 times more for your electricity? There is no "economy of scale" in solar energy. Or wind energy.

Your examples of "job killing" legislation by Dems have been shown to just be Republican talking points created by industries that do not want to be legislated.

Historically the businesses of America have changed with advances in technology. Since 1900 the names of the biggest companies in the economy have steadily changed. Of the 30 companies in the Dow Jones Industrial Average -- the main stock market index -- only one of the original companies is still around -- General Electric. And it is much different today than it was in 1900.

Do you really want business to run this nation with no supervision?

No supervision? Who said that? When it comes to economic issues, Democrats make foolish laws that backfire in the worst ways.

First off, automation has wiped out tons of jobs over the years.

Without automation, most low-skill jobs would disappear completely -- not partially.

Secondly, automakers moved all kinds of jobs out of the cities to the suburbs, which went along way in killing the city of Detroit itself.

First, "Detroit" is a metaphor for the US auto business. Furthermore, the old "Detroit" always included lots of operations in Ohio and Indiana.

Second, "Detroit" moved operations to new sites for a lot of reasons. Tax relief was one reason.

Also the big three have been moving jobs out of the country for sometime.

No kidding? By the way, it is now the Big Two. Chrysler is part of Fiat, and I can tell already that Fiat is questioning the purchase. The only money-maker in the Chrysler vehicle line-up is Jeep.

Anyway, when US productivity matches the productivity in other nations, then auto companies will build more cars here. The problem is simple -- union wages and benefits are too high for US car companies to stay competitive.

Mexican autoworkers make about ten percent of what your typical American autoworker make.

You're out of your mind. They earn about half.

You can't drop wages low enough to compete with that.

Wrong again. Toyota and other foreign car-makers have operations in the US. Why? Because they can pay wages and benefits to US workers that still allow the company to earn a profit.

Meanwhile, GM has invested over three billion in plants in Mexico while they closed eight plants here since 2005.

If you look at the local, state and federal taxes paid by GM -- a company that recently completed a chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring -- and the punishing union wage and benefit rates, you will easily understand the attraction of investing in Mexico.

The US has merely to roll back or eliminate abusive taxes for companies to begin manufacturing operations here.

Ford just built a plant in Mexico as well-creating 2,000 jobs. Like GM they've invested about three billion in a foreign country. How much do their workers make?

In other words, our government has assisted in the creation of a manufacturing environment that is hostile to corporate success.

If you were managing a business that was pinched by taxes and you could move it to a more hospitable location, you would.

They make about four dollars an hour.

You're dreaming. Mexican workers earn less than American workers, but the difference is far less than you think.

But suppose your numbers are correct? Then what? Many industries, like shoes and textiles, have left the US. Is there a reason we must have shoe companies or textile companies in the US? They would immediately go into bankruptcy.

Marla Hansen had her face carved up by a razor-wielding attacker in NY City about 20 years ago. A male. He was caught and prosecuted.

Interestingly, Alton Maddox, one of Tawana Brawley's lawyers, defended the attacker. Fortunately, he was an incompetent defense attorney. Therefore he lost the case and his client went to jail.

This screwball Storro is one of the only females to have ever harmed her own face.

No-Slaps big gas guzzling cars were popular when gas was cheap but what happened after the oil crisis in the 70's? You guessed it, Americans bought smaller cars that got better gas mileage. The auto industry CAN manufacture cars that are powerful AND get good gas mileage, we can put a man on the moon so I know we can get 40 miles to the gallon and 400 horses. As far as solar energy yes initially there may have to be subsidies but then again the oil industry gets them and they make billions so that shouldn't be a big deal. We are waking up to the fact that there is a human component to climate change, the exact percentage is debatable but we are responsible for some of it. It is the oil industry that funds opposition to clean energy and mileage standards and we are waking up to this fact. As a consumer you mean you don't want a good looking vehicle, a good warranty AND good gas mileage? Saving gas and money isn't important to you? I too like choices but a choice of vehicles that all get good gas milegae is a good thing right?
By reducing our oil consumption we won't have to drill in environmentally fragile locations. Conservation is the key not finding more pollution inducing petroleum products.

    About Me
I am a veteran columnist, radio producer, AM & FM talk radio host, FM radio and night club DJ, musicologist, corporate trainer, educator, and administrator...

Veteran. In other words, those jobs, if they ever existed, are long gone.

I am an interpersonal and organizational communications scholar, and an award-winning educator of children and adults.

Unmedicated bi-polar nuts do not win awards as educators of children.

I am a beloved grades P-4 teacher who resigned due to toxic students, horrid parents, and the academic genocide of NCLB.

    Forced to resign or fired.

I am now a private tutor of brainy babies who are young, gifted, and black.

Probably a dream. But if true, the experiment will end when a parent of the one child client sees an unmedicated bi-polar outburst. Meanwhile, this is probably another unpaid activity.

I was the first out lesbian in America to host a prime time, daily, commercial talk radio show, in Atlanta, Georgia from 1989 until 1996.

    Who cares?

I have created, produced, and hosted rebel radio shows at WBML, WPGU, WRFG, WIGO, WGST, KPFA, KPFB, and KFCF.

Another way of saying you worked without pay.

That's bull. That IQ has been broken several times. Your research is outdated. The highest IQ today 263. Hence, AB no longer has the highest IQ..nevertheless, her IQ is certainly higher than 99.5% of people in the USA. That means she is a whole lot smarter than anyone on this blog..and that is what kills some folks on here.

Also No-Slaps electing Republicans won't magically make jobs appear, in fact it is the Republicans that are trying to outsource my job. I'm an airline pilot and thankfully we have a strong union that has influence on Capital Hill because the R's have been pushing for what's called open skies agreements between the U.S. and Europe. Right now foreign airlines are prohibited from flying domestic routes and foreign entities are a;so prohibited from owning more than I think it's 49% of a U.S. flag carrier. So in essence the R's are trying to allow foreign carriers to compete with American carriers on domestic routes thereby allowing foreign pilots to fly routes now reserved for U.S. pilots. They say it's all about competition but in reality thousands of pilots will either have to work for sub-standard wages or be unemployed. Bush tried it but the Dems in the House and Senate blocked this agreement. So in essence in the R's get control of the WH and congress I can kiss my job good-bye forever. Say what you will but there is a reason unions support the Dems and when the rubber meets the road we know who is protecting us. Oh yeah, Bush said I could go to a community college and retrain in another profession. No thanks, I'll keep a Dem in the WH and my surrent job thankyouverymuch.

  141. I just read Christine O'Donell's ten worst quotes and I can't find anything there that Ronald Reagan wouldn't have said. (I despised Reagan, but he got elected twice anyway, even without my vote.)

If people are going to show that Christine is loony, they'll have to do it by providing quotes that most Republicans don't agree with. Most Republicans would agree with much of what was in those ten quotes, and a few Black church folks and ministers would agree with some of the anti-homosexual stuff.

It's actually quite creative the way she attempts to redefine "feminist" as a person who revels in her "femininity." This lady's white with a pretty smile and she has obviously won over most of the Republicans of one state.

They say she's crazy, but "where's the beef" in that assertion? She seems like a typical Republican to me, except that she has the gift of being quotable. Ironically, circulating these beliefs of her will probably only help her among her Republican cohorts as well as some socially conservative Independents.

I haven't seen the smoking gun, "stick her, she's done" quote yet.

  142. pilotx, you wrote:

...the R's have been pushing for what's called open skies agreements between the U.S. and Europe. Right now foreign airlines are prohibited from flying domestic routes and foreign entities are a;so prohibited from owning more than I think it's 49% of a U.S. flag carrier.

Open Skies is an interesting concept. However, based on your interpretation of it, you see it as a One-Way Street, rather than the Two-Way Street that it would be.

So in essence the R's are trying to allow foreign carriers to compete with American carriers on domestic routes thereby allowing foreign pilots to fly routes now reserved for U.S. pilots.

And US pilots would fly routes in Europe.

They say it's all about competition but in reality thousands of pilots will either have to work for sub-standard wages or be unemployed.

Job losses? Sub-standard wages? Unemployed? Nonsense.

The number of people getting around by air is increasing. Though there are ebbs and flows in airline employment, the number of pilots must rise as air travel increases. Thus, I think you are dead wrong about the impact of Open Skies.

Meanwhile, airline economics have always been a nightmare. The Airline Industry is a Service Industry that is financed as though it were a capital intensive industry.

As you know fuel is the largest single cost. Other than hedging against price increases, airlines have no power over this variable fixed cost. Airlines also have little control over the cost of aircraft.

The only variable over which an airline has some control is labor.

Meanwhile, as you know, every airline eventually goes bankrupt.

Thus, by standing firm with the union and backing high wages for pilots above all else, you are declaring that you have no regard for all the other people and capital that make airlines possible.

Passengers believe in pilots. That's good news for pilots, but to survive, airlines need a better model. Clearly the new model will make use of drone technology the Air Force is using in and around Afghanistan.

As you know, the airline industry is on a path toward computerizing the pilot function. If the pilots' union prices pilots beyond the industry's capacity to pay, the industry will replace them with computers.

  143. pilotx,

Foreign ownership of domestic airlines is another interesting topic.

Of course this issue is different from foreign ownership of, say, a car company. Access to airspace is a big deal. There are military implications.

But, once again, the ownership goes two ways.

The upheavals in the airline industry have always been newsworthy. How many carriers were consolidated under the banner of Texas Air? Then Texas Air morphed into Continental.

Now Continental is merging with United. In fact, the merger was approved yesterday. The combined companies will form the world's largest airline.

But the industry is like a hill of sand. Companies merge and eliminate redundancies. They get bigger and bigger and get to the top of the heap. But along the way their staffs begin to swell again and they lose their edge and slide down the hill as others climb over them on their way to the top.

Meanwhile, one of the sweetest sights I've ever seen was the video coverage of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner's maiden flight.

I agree. and Christine will get elected despite those useless 10 worst quotes. People are angry with the present government and a change will be coming via tea party of action. The Dems have proven they are "all mouth, and do-nothings."
