It's Friday evening and I have so much to say and so little time.
Let's see, where do I begin? I think I will start with our future president, Sarah Palin. Girlfriend is calling the first lady a racist in her new book:
"Washington (HuffPo)– In passages leaked from her forthcoming book America by Heart, Sarah Palin — the erstwhile quitter governor of Alaska, who now, by all indications, fancies herself as President of the United States — has taken another cheap shot at First Lady Michelle Obama.
In a passage on perceptions of racial inequality in the United States, Palin slams President Barack Obama, who, she asserts, “seems to believe” that “America — at least America as it currently exists — is a fundamentally unjust and unequal country.”
Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn’t surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church listening to his rants against America and white people."
OKaaayy....let's move on. I won't even comment on this one. Now if Michelle wants to kick off her heels, pull out her earrings, and have a real girl fight with Palin; she will get my undivided attention. Anything short of seeing Sarah catch a beat down is not really worthy of my time. Sarah, it must be really hard to be a hater. Especially when Michelle keeps getting love like this.
I am actually going to leave the Big R alone tonight, although I could go there. He is still in full effect. From Kansas to right here in my hometown, the Big R is flexing his muscles and daring me to catch him. But I am not going to chase tonight. It's Friday, I am trying to relax. I will come out and play some other time.
It looks like the folks over at Radio Rwanda are taking their O jones to a whole different level. Now they are criticising O's children's book. Yep, his children's book. It seems they have some issues with him showing some love to Sitting Bull.
"It is not common for Fox News to take issue with something President Obama does. In fact, it seems to take issue with everything he does. Now the network is attacking him for a new children's book he wrote.
On Wednesday, "Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters" hits bookstores. It is a book that highlights 13 Americans "whose traits he sees in his own children" according to a USA Today story about the book.
When listing those people, the article mentions almost in passing "His most controversial choice may be Sitting Bull, who defeated Custer at Little Bighorn."
Obama writes of Sitting Bull:
(He) was a medicine man who healed broken hearts and broken promises. It is fine that we are different. (He) spoke out and led his people against many policies of the United States government. He is most famous for his stunning victory in 1876 over Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer in the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Fox News certainly wasn't to let that pass, running an article on its web site titled "Obama Praises Indian Chief Who Killed U.S. General." It was later corrected to "Obama Praises Indian Chief Who Defeated U.S. General" for "historical accuracy," which is Fox's way of saying it made a mistake without really saying it made a mistake.
The brief article itself doesn't say anything else critical, but the headline said it all.
"If President Obama patted a child on the head, Fox News would probably accuse him of assault," Indiana University historian Ed Linenthal said. [Source]
Actually, Mr. Linenthal, they would accuse him of rape.
Finally, I see that Uncle Sam is sending Wesley Snipes to the slammer for three years. Sorry Wesley, you have to render unto Uncle Sam....but three years? "White Men Can't Jump, but they can sure put the hammer on a brotha.
Before it's all over, Fox will have an excerpt from Obama's book that says his childhood idol was his fellow Kenyan, Nat Turner.
ReplyDeleteLet's just hope Nino Brown can hold his own in the joint. Oh that's right... he'll be in club fed. Yep, don't worry mister U.S. Marshall Man,the Booty Warrior himself Fleece Johnson won't be there.
Be kinda cool seeing Wesley on MSNBC's Lockup on weekends.
*shrug*
Well, I don't have a problem that Obama used Sitting Bull for his children's book, but honestly, why include those jews Ethel and Julius Rosenberg? Why do Tookie Williams and Colin Ferguson make it, but I don't get in?
ReplyDeleteYeah? How many Americans did Custer kill? Or were only the white guys with guns Americans, cuz I think Sitting Bull would win this one.
ReplyDeleteDid Fox news mention how Custer was a Colonel; not General. He was lowered in rank post Civil War. Not just that, but he was offered promotion if he would command black troops; he refused.
I'm sure Obama would have been fine if he chose Chief Joseph cuz we love Indian chiefs... as long as they lose.
At least the Black and Native American farmers got their settlement. It sucks to be a white underachiever(I'm looking at Mrs. Palin). If you cannot find a way to prosper in a country that for centuries has reserved all of its liberties and privileges just for you, and to the exclusion of everyone who didn't look like you, then you have every right to be bitter because you have missed that boat. But be clear that it's not the fault of black, brown or red people.
ReplyDelete@ brohammas: That custer story about being offered a promotion for commanding black troops is an urban myth.
ReplyDeleteHey TSC: Insightful post. I think if you just change a couple of words, it describes you perfectly:
ReplyDelete"If you cannot find a way to prosper in a country that for DECADES has reserved all of its liberties and privileges just for you, and to the exclusion of everyone who didn't look like you, then you have every right to be bitter because you have missed that boat. But be clear that it's not the fault of WHITE people."
Probably the issue is that Custer got ended for what the wites was doing to those folks what owned the place...who jess wasn't gawd-fearn' Mericans.
ReplyDeleteThe Alaskan bloggers indicate that Sarey and her brood are the mean, catty B*tch girls from the movies. The ones who think that mediocre is worthy of A grades, because of who daddy/mommy is. The ones who sneer at the poor kids, because gawd obviously didn't bless them. The ones who make everything, everything about the mean, catty B*tch girls and how they feel about stuff and junk.
No wonder Sarey hates Michelle and Barak...they earned every single thing they have. Despite the BigR. Despite crackerbillies beleeving that all the good sh*t only belongs to wite folks.
Mold
Yah, I echo the cartoonish view of the Palins expressed by Mr. Mold.
ReplyDeleteFungus
@ brohammas: That custer story about being offered a promotion for commanding black troops is an urban myth."
ReplyDeleteAnon., where did you hear that? Over at FOX NEWS? Well actually.....
http://hubpages.com/hub/Buffalo-Soldiers
If any country on earth deserves Sarah Palin for president, it is this one at this place in time.
ReplyDeleteI'm not mad at Fake News. They make no bones about being a propaganda outfit. I'm mad at the other corporate media for picking up their hit pieces and giving them some sort of half ass legitimacy.
Ahhh...Custer. Killed by his own sense of superiority and entitlement, a perfect symbol of the ugly Americans gallantly riding into a demise of their own making.
Johnny Cash sang about it.
And Arthur Penn perfectly captured this brand of arrogant madness.
"21", why do you wingnuts personalize everything? I am quite sure that TSC is doing just fine and working hard along the way. His concern is for the collective not the individual.
ReplyDeleteIt's called compassion and caring about what goes on around you and for your fellow man. Unlike you wingnuts who believe that selfishness is somehow a virtue. Something to be worn like a badge of honor. "Look at me, I am a wingut, I only care about myself".*pathetic*
"Ahhh...Custer. Killed by his own sense of superiority and entitlement, a perfect symbol of the ugly Americans gallantly riding into a demise of their own making."
ReplyDeleteHeartwarming, huh Ernesto?
"Heartwarming, huh Ernesto?"
ReplyDeleteNo. Too much collateral damage. Like you, me and the rest of the friggen' planet.
@ Field: "It's called compassion and caring about what goes on around you and for your fellow man."
ReplyDeleteNo it's not; it's another racist slam on white people that projects his own need to place blame for "undeachieving" onto others. Plain and simple.
I thought Mumia was in prison.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Mumia blogs here too? lol
ReplyDeleteMichelle and Sarah in a knockdown dragout catfight? I'm sure Michelle has better things to do with her time than to bother with what appears to be rather rich and famous trailer-trash.
So I guess you'd consider DECADES of Jim Crow, "Separate but Equal", elevated sentences for drug possession and stereotype pigeonholing of Blacks as either Magic Negros, criminals or helpless creatures in need of benevolent white leadership as "liberties and privileges".
And of course, you choose to deflect the blame from yourself and onto a minority. It's never the White man's fault, only the minority's. Whitey can do no wrong, nosiree.

ReplyDelete__________________________________________________________________________
Damn. You got me pegged, dude.
Is it inverse projection when you accuse a person of projecting the views you actually feel?
It's a slam on people who really think that Atlas Shrugged is social theory instead of the same of a really bad book. It's a slam on human beings who think because a person doesn't have the right lack of pigmentation, that he is somehow less, or not deserving of respect, or consideration or fair play.
What did Michelle Obama do to Sarah Palin? The First lady and her husband did it the hard way, the way that the right wing in this nation says it should be done, yet every person in flyover country hates them as if he took something from them directly. She's still trying to win the last election. All the money and the fame are not enough for her -- and won't be -- she's just downright bitter that the Obamas are in the White House and she never will be. Unless she's on a tour.
Sarah Palin is the product of our times; teevee heads, rote memorization for NCLB testing, sound bite answers to complex problems. It is not surprising that someone on her staff found the opening to sound bite the complex problem of race and politics.
She's not a serious person and should not be taken seriously. The 15% of America who loves her will watch her show, call Dancing with the Stars to keep her rotund daughter jiggling for another round, keep cashing social security checks and have their scooters in the way when you try to walk around them in the grocery store.
Fuck her and fuck them.
Michelle Obama is the First Lady RIGHT NOW. AS WE BLOG AND COMMENT.
SHE WINS.
Palin- "Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn’t surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church listening to his rants against America and white people."
ReplyDeleteSarah is smart to make this point against Obama. Her book coincides with the negativity of people from Obama's own party. Palin is laying the good groundwork for her political future on a one term lameduck President. You can call her dumb-- but her actions show her brilliance. Of course, all of you FN racists are blinded by your hate of her.
I guess "Mumia" has replaced "George Soros" as our resident Becktards' villain du jour. Apparently, they can't have more than one per day or it gets too confusing for them.
ReplyDeleteWow! Anon. 10:39 PM has a serious man crush.:) Anon. that's Mumia on line one, he wants his jock strap back.
ReplyDelete"I am surprised that you so-called Obama Field Negroes remain mute while Obama's chances in 2012 are being sunk not only by the GOP but the Democrats as well. I swear, you are as dumb as that Dumbocratic Party you belong to!"
Did you say dumbocratic party? Nope, that's not me. They aren't left leaning enough for my taste. Sorry.
Mack Lyons: "So I guess you'd consider DECADES of Jim Crow, "Separate but Equal", elevated sentences for drug possession and stereotype pigeonholing of Blacks as either Magic Negros, criminals or helpless creatures in need of benevolent white leadership as "liberties and privileges".
ReplyDeleteIt's not 1963.
It's 2010.
Decades of racial preferences in favor of minorities apparently mean nothing. The spectacle of a vast, stifling complex of legal discrimination that daily confiscates one group's rights, opportunities and wealth, distributing them to virtually every one who is, by legal decree and social sanction, not them.
Instead of gratitude or recognition, whites just get more demagogy asserting that these extraordinary efforts are not enough, due to the stubborn bigotry of this "privileged" class. Liberals deliberately perpetuate a Great Slander--to wit, the failure of this generations-old edifice of legal and economic discrimination to equalize results, unprecedented in history or size, can only be attributed to the stubborn malice of the majority. The implication is that these perpetually failing, ever-greater efforts to cure minority underrepresentation are like a descending plumb sounding the still unknown depths of white racism. Hence, the relative mediocrity of "protected classes" in education and the professions continually produces political advantage. Weakness is strength. You have to admire the sinister, if incidental, brilliance of it. How comfortable some of our more sentient liberal demagogues must feel when considering the durability of disparity.
"Sarah is smart..."
ReplyDeleteAnd that was where your argument fell apart and you lost all credibility. Right there. Three words into it.
"Sarah is smart to make this point against Obama.."
ReplyDelete"Sarah is smart". Maybe you should join Anon.10:39 PM and start writing. If you write it enough you might actually fool yourself into thinking it's true.
Field, I see you found the 'best' photo you could find of Michelle Obama and the 'worst' photo of Sarah Palin. Even so, Palin still looks great.
ReplyDelete"Instead of gratitude or recognition, whites just get more demagogy asserting that these extraordinary efforts are not enough, due to the stubborn bigotry of this "privileged" class."
ReplyDeleteWhat, exactly, should we be grateful to you for? "Exraordinary efforts"? You cannot be that stupid. This must be some kind of spoof.
Anon. you might be looking for love in all the wrong places. I know some black folks who would love to jig for you and tell you thanks. They even have blogs. Look around, I am sure you will find them.
21:
ReplyDelete"Hence, the relative mediocrity of "protected classes" in education and the professions continually produces political advantage."
Apparently, within the context of "protected classes" you are referring to relative mediocrity of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin, two chronic underacheivers who accidentally found themselves on the national political stage.
@ TSC: I'll agree with you on one point: Atlas Shrugged is a really bad book.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't stand the thought of Sarah Palin as anything more than a TV personality.
But it is gratuitous to slam whites in a way that you rationlize with a myth of majority privilege that grows more fabulous and farcical by the day
Field, ""Sarah is smart". Maybe you should join Anon.10:39 PM and start writing. If you write it enough you might actually fool yourself into thinking it's true."
ReplyDelete10:58 PM
Field, you and Mr. Ernestly Emptyheaded missed the last part of my comment:
"You can call her dumb-- but her actions show her brilliance. Of course, all of you FN racists are blinded by your hate of her."
In any case, no need to try to talk to left wingnuts. You are too pigheaded to learn anything new. You are the "F" students in life.
"What, exactly, should we be grateful to you for? "Exraordinary efforts"? You cannot be that stupid. This must be some kind of spoof."
ReplyDeleteWhere have you been for the last 40 years, Mr. Succesful American Lawyer? Surely, the white man didn't do a very effective job keeping you down. What is the basis of your deep resentment?

ReplyDeleteTranslation: I can't compete with them on an equal basis if we really were equal, so I need to demagogue any black achievement. I need the self-fulfilling prophecy to take hold, lest my naked incompetence will be discovered by the entire world.
Oh yeah, "Instead of gratitude or recognition"?
You actually used your fingers to type that shit.
Ernesto, "Apparently, within the context of "protected classes" you are referring to relative mediocrity of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin, two chronic underacheivers who accidentally found themselves on the national political stage."
ReplyDeleteYou must be an Obamaholic. You really shouldn't be talking about mediocrity of other politicians when your own Presidential Idol is falling apart.
"In any case, no need to try to talk to left wingnuts. You are too pigheaded to learn anything new. You are the "F" students in life."
ReplyDeleteOkaaay, you keep believing that.
I will take this "F" and keep enjoying my life. You take that "A" and keep hating on me.;)
"Where have you been for the last 40 years, Mr. Succesful American Lawyer? Surely, the white man didn't do a very effective job keeping you down. What is the basis of your deep resentment?"
No, he didn't. But I have my parents to thank for that. Not him.
My resentment isn't even "deep"; it's more like pity.
TSC, "Translation: I can't compete with them on an equal basis if we really were equal, so I need to demagogue any black achievement. I need the self-fulfilling prophecy to take hold, lest my naked incompetence will be discovered by the entire world."
ReplyDeleteYour translation is biased and wrong. You need to learn English, boy.
Anon 11:07:
ReplyDeleteDo you honestly think Sarah Palin wrote an entire book? Or any part of it? She couldn't even pick up credits in three different community colleges. How gullible are you fools?
"Your translation is biased and wrong. You need to learn English, boy."
ReplyDeleteTSC, there it is! They can only go so long before those REAL feelings come out. :)
You better work on your English here in A-merry-ca, "boy".
"You must be an Obamaholic."
ReplyDeleteYou must have poor reading comprehension. I have only defended his policies in the context of not being as bad as the Republican alternative, but still largely controlled by corporate/banker interests.
And the Republicans winning the House was the single worst thing that could have happened...to the Republicans. Now they have to try to come up with ideas and govern. Good luck with that!!
"Where have you been for the last 40 years, Mr. Succesful American Lawyer? Surely, the white man didn't do a very effective job keeping you down. What is the basis of your deep resentment?"
ReplyDeleteField said, "No, he didn't. But I have my parents to thank for that. Not him."
Wouldn't it be great if all black children had parents who loved and cared for their children like your parents did? The drugs, abortions, street pirates, corruption and black on black killings in the black community would be relatively small. The black community would be well educated and successful.
Unfortunately, you are in the 3% of 'fortunate' Blacks. The rest are somewhat lost in no man's land..or prison. The future for the black race doesn't look very bright. But the Latinos and Mexicans look very bright. Why is it that every group surpasses Blacks?
Oh, I think you already gave the answer: "it's lack of parenting"
@ TSC: I am doing just fine thank you, and begrudge no one their accomplishments. However, there is nothing truthful that says all groups need to equally represented in all segments of society (see the NBA) as long as opportunity to achieve is open to all.
ReplyDeleteLiberals have spent the last 50 years extolling the sins of white people and exacting retribution, justified at first but morphing over the decades into a contorted parody of justice. In this light, I find it incredible that liberals are shocked, shocked at the whiteness of the Tea Party movement. This movement is precisely what they've been creating by decades of triangulation, through legal discrimination, demagogy and cultural derision. They were not careful about what they wished for.
Now, cornered and isolated from their countrymen by the formidable barriers of confiscatory patronage and cultural condemnation, assessing with greater clarity than the elite the reality of Barack Obama's ascent--the final marriage of corporate power with the diversity state--they are fighting back. But the liberals, po-faced in their naivete, apparently took seriously the notion that they had no right to self-defense, that mere exposure would chasten them into final, fearful submission or drive them into violent extremism (thus the tendency to see just that, despite the relative mildness of the movement). They are appalled to find them unrepentant, law-abiding and combative; how dare they? It's downright comic.
Liberals are appalled at the vigor of their victim's death throes, by its refusal to expire quietly. In the crude logic of "white privilege" these people cannot be victims--neither of the state nor of the racial violence this libel-as-virtue sanctions. The "racist" (i.e. self-interest when exercised by whites) aspect of the amorphous and inconsistent Tea Party movement is its only coherent feature and its greatest justification and, despite convention, is nothing for which its members should apologize. It is not driven by any animus towards others, but a by desire to merely survive. Any group, however identified, has the right to defend itself against confiscation, slander and violence; the conventional double-standard that would deny them this right only makes their fight more necessary. The "Tea Partiers" are the unwitting last defenders of civil rights and racial equality.
Field, "TSC, there it is! They can only go so long before those REAL feelings come out. :)
ReplyDeleteYou better work on your English here in A-merry-ca, "boy"."
Now see? there you go with more of TSC's 'figure-out' what they 'really' are saying because the word "boy" must be a racist code word. Mr. Field, you need help, SIR.
Is 'Mister', and "SIR" better? Do you "feel" better now, Mr. Racism Chaser?
Anon 11:30: "street pirates"
ReplyDeleteWhoa...wait a minute. Is that our old friend CF??
21: "shocked at the whiteness of the Tea Party movement."
Yeah I was shocked in the sense that the Koch brothers' millions couldn't even hire a few more tokens to join the astroturf fun.
21@11:31pm-You are exactly right. Thanks for the in-depth comment, which is probably waaaay over the heads of most on this blog.
ReplyDelete"Unfortunately, you are in the 3% of 'fortunate' Blacks. The rest are somewhat lost in no man's land..or prison. The future for the black race doesn't look very bright. But the Latinos and Mexicans look very bright. Why is it that every group surpasses Blacks? "
ReplyDelete3%? Please stay away from FOX NEWS and other wingnut news outlets to get your information. It really makes you looke stupid.
And, FYI, most of the people I grew up around had BOTH of their parents at home. And, for the most part, they are all quite successful. Oh, and they were all black. So I am sorry if I that doesn't fit into your imagery of black folks.
"The future for the black race doesn't look very bright"
Keep telling yourself that, as- in the not too distant future- you sit in your rocking chair and look at your little beige grandkids running around. :)
21" those are nice cut and paste wingnut talking points. But they mean nothing.
ReplyDelete"Liberals have spent the last 50 years extolling the sins of white people and exacting retribution, justified at first but morphing over the decades into a contorted parody of justice. I am not "shocked"I would expect a bunch of old losers who can't stand the thought of seeing that dude with the Muslim name in the people's house to look like they do.
I would have been "shocked" if they didn't look that way.
"Morphing into a parody of Justice"?
So what was it for the years leading up to this justice system that we now have? --The one that is becoming a "parody" of its former self.
You guys wonder why I speak from a libertarian perspective sometimes? FN, NOBODY should be imprisoned for tax evasion. That is the IRS saying 'You did not pay us. Now you will go to jail.'
ReplyDeleteThat is the lamest thing in a country that purports to be the land of the free! It's a modern day DEBTORS PRISON sentence!
Field, "And, FYI, most of the people I grew up around had BOTH of their parents at home. And, for the most part, they are all quite successful. Oh, and they were all black. So I am sorry if I that doesn't fit into your imagery of black folks."
ReplyDeleteWhere did you grow up? It couldn't have been in the great urban cities of A-merry-ca. The statistics show the devastation of bm and bw. There is virtually NO parenting happening for a poor black child, so save me the bs.
Anon-"The future for the black race doesn't look very bright"
Field said, "Keep telling yourself that, as- in the not too distant future- you sit in your rocking chair and look at your little beige grandkids running around. :)"
If that is your solution to a terrible problem in the black community? Well, good luck with that, Bro.
Field, you seem awfully fiesty tonight. Are you drinking again? I want that recipe.
ReplyDeleteField,
ReplyDeleteLooks like Limballs' drugs have made it to other quarters.
Palin and her 'Peeps' wear their red, white, and blue outfits, say that they 'love' their country, which should mean that they respect The Office of The President of The United States. You see how much respect they have for The Office when someone occupies it who doesn't look like them.
Sarah Palin SHOULD be proud of her country. Where else can a woman who can't complete anything, makes up words, preach about abstinence while raising a pregnant unwed teenager, can't answer a serious reporter's questions get to get away with so much without putting in any effort?Oh, you have to be a white woman. If Palin were black, would anybody listen to her?
ReplyDeleteAs for Wesley, this just might turn out to be a career move for him. You never know. LOL
Wow Field I got to the fight late today again but Ernesto is holding it down and Field you are on your A game tonight.
ReplyDeleteI think an open minded person could learn something from the back and forth.
My 2 cents is Sarah Palin appears to be pure opportunist. The biased and prejudiced keep trying to paint the president as anything but brilliant while he is obviously quite intelligent. ON the other hand its Sarah who isn't very book smart but she gets to get away with just messing up the English language.
But while she isn't very booksmart she is sharp when it comes to taking advantage of opportunities to make a buck. She has used her looks and her willingness to parrot right wing foolishness to fill her personal coffers.
She can barely put together a literate statement yet she has a book out that actually was purchased by folks and now she is putting out another, which some misinformed will go out and buy on the misguided notion that they may learn something useful.
Anon you are out to lunch and you ought to know better than to come to this thread referring to black folks as boy. You lost all credibility with that one.
And Field thanks for nailing the Custer story he did refuse to command black troops. Its just like these folks to call it a myth.
FN, thanks for perpetuating and promoting racist stereotypes against bw. can bw PLEASE get a “not ALL bw” crew? even HALF as vigilant as the not all bm crew and there would be immediate progress. dang! not one to wait for others to do what must be done, let me be the one to point out to you and others that not ALL bw behave in such a crude, crass, UNlady like manner. not even when unfairly mischaracterized and provoked. frankly, quite a few of us are accustomed to this behavior, we face it often.
ReplyDeleteopportunistic dumb ww like palin are unworthy of any type of physical altercation. it is SO much more rewarding to deal with them in an emotionally disciplined, witty, lady like, light-hearted, unflappable appropriate manner. when done well, THEY will go ghetto first. lol. ask me how I know? adding the spoiler of their impending waterworks by offering tissue is…priceless. any other way of dealing with them will trip folks’ well honed protectionist mechanism, even when they are the aggressor and dead wrong. this is particularly true of those completely dominated, color struck, OMG it’s a ww negroes. this blog, it seems, has more than its share of these type negroes. they are the same ones that give their best mute rendition when bw are being attacked. ya’ll know who you are! LOL. you outed yourselves attempting to protect FN’s baby palin dumb ww maria from her richly earned get it together or get lost wrath on this blog on several occasions.
the pecking order is already established. FLOTUS is where palin wants to be…in the white house. i am sure FLOTUS is accustomed to dealing with lesser ww like palin. after all she is a slender, well spoken, attractive, accomplished, educated bw. i am SURE she knows the grossly opportunistic, inadequate and insecure ww like palin ROUTINELY default to the “i am white, therefore better than you” silliness when ALL ELSE fails. these kind of ww seem to take it personally that not all bw conveniently fit into pop culture’s depictions of bw. and HOW DARE we point out america’s racist/white supremacist, brutal treatment of us! doing so makes US racist! dumb baby palin maria has engaged in this same practice on this blog before. pointing out quite a few bm’s sexism seems to offend her, too. LOL. there seems to be a script…
maria, i noticed your invitation for me to join in your foolish dumbness ...no thanks. you are doing a really good job being the plantation dumb duck by yourself. what the heck was all the Koppel posting about?!!! lol! take the spotlight and go for what you know! are you blonde yet? uts will become orgasmic and may facebook you while that wife of his is at work providing for their family. best of all, you won't be held responsible! it could be win/win for ya. you know, battling wits with you would be as balanced and sensible as fist fighting with a premature infant. again, no thanks. much like inadequate palin with flotus, you are not in the same book as me, much less on the same page, humbly speaking of course:-) it is your unfounded superiority complex and rank insecurities despite the ww pedestal that has you so far out of your lane. i am content to watch you drive right off the road.
ReplyDeletei noticed that despite the "sisterhood" ww like you, would have bw like me believe we share as you attempt to play us and use us, that you think my concern for the welfare of bw is a "tiny" perspective. lol. rock on with your translucent transparent self. literally.
as for mr snipes, i am content to quietly step aside and let the asian women of the world come out and lament his "unfair" treatment and how "the man" is trying to keep him down. AB, this is a prime example of what i was sharing before. as such, i could not care less frankly. his wm honorary status has been officially revoked. and yes, his sentence is harsher than those received by wm accused of the very same transgressions around the same time. shrug. he'll be alright.

"Instead of gratitude or recognition, whites just get more demagogy asserting that these extraordinary efforts are not enough, due to the stubborn bigotry of this "privileged" class."
ReplyDelete"Gratitude or recognition" for committing themselves to action that should have been taken decades beforehand. The mere belief that any minority should thank their "benevolent" whites for suddenly respecting their rights, which were only moments ago not bound towards any respect as far as whites were concerned, says all that needs to be said about the tenuous hold that the White Privilege mindset has on the average white American.
Most whites would rather the Civil Rights movement and America's lop-sided relationship with Blacks was swept under the rug and forgotten about, so they can no longer be held accountable for their actions and beliefs. These people say it's 2010, but they'd rather turn the clock back to 1953 while developing a severe case of social amnesia.
"What, exactly, should we be grateful to you for? "Exraordinary efforts"? You cannot be that stupid. This must be some kind of spoof."
He is. He thinks Blacks should be grateful for being thrown a bone or two after being treated like shit for most of this nation's existence.
"Your translation is biased and wrong. You need to learn English, boy."
Annnnnnnd he finally cracks. Looks like he is exactly who we thought he was.
"Unfortunately, you are in the 3% of 'fortunate' Blacks. The rest are somewhat lost in no man's land..or prison. The future for the black race doesn't look very bright. But the Latinos and Mexicans look very bright. Why is it that every group surpasses Blacks? "
ReplyDelete1) The media makes it seem like every other ethnicity surpasses Blacks. Constant negative reinforcement via media outlets can do that. And if the media wanted to do the same screwjob on Latinos and Mexicans, they could and will if necessary.
2) Most immigrants didn't have the added disadvantage of having their socioeconomic growth deliberately retarded by outside (and later on, internal) forces throughout their existence here in this country.
3) Most immigrants weren't mentally conditioned to work against their own people and their people's interests. The ONE reason you see other immigrants succeeding is that they WORK TOGETHER. The entire family comes over and they pool their resources towards building sustainable businesses that not only make a profit, but they can also be left to their children and grandchildren, as stepping stones for acquiring and maintaining wealth.
Blacks in America have been mentally conditioned to NOT do that. Instead, we won't even patronize each others' businesses, in the mistaken belief that a Black business is somehow inferior to a non-Black business. We won't help each other, because we see our fellow Blacks' wealth as some sort of threat and we constantly find ways to subvert others' attempts at success out of sheer jealousy. We've been conditioned to accept that somehow, we're undeserving of any sort of improvements to ourselves and our surroundings and we're constantly seeking to drag our fellow Blacks down to some base level where no one can have nothing and where everyone can equally share in the misery of it all.
Mental conditioning is a hell of a thing. It's not genetics. It's not culture. It's now "how Blacks act". It's mental conditioning. Mentally torture a man to walk on all fours, say "moo" and milk his own tits and eventually, he'll do it all and leave "cow patties" all over the goddamned field.
People in this country overall are being mentally conditioned by Fox News and other far-right outlets to engage in self-defeating behavior that only benefits the nation's power brokers and well-off. And wouldn't you know, we're doing just that. And soon enough, we'll be walking on all fours, too.

Some of these comments are unbelievably stupid. It's apparent that most Americans live in the real world, while others live in Bazaro. They see things in reverse. There's a psychological term for that isn't there?
ReplyDelete@TSC you explained thing in simple terms they didn't understand. Then you explained them in psychological terms, they ignored that. Maybe silence works best with the deaf.
mell, "Anon you are out to lunch and you ought to know better than to come to this thread referring to black folks as boy. You lost all credibility with that one."
ReplyDeleteRev Millaneous, I am Black like you and it was not my intention to lose all credibility with you-or anyone else. The word was not meant to belittle anyone. I intended its use in the same way some would use the word 'guy' or 'man'. I swear, it's getting harder and harder to speak English these days without someone like you becoming offended at 'some' word.
Yet, some folks like you freely use the 'N-word' on a regular basis. Rap songs use all kinds of 'filthy' degrading words about our bw, but 'black folks' like you are not offended. I find it quite offensive and disgraceful but obviously I come from a different part of the black race than you.
Maybe you should join Palin and write a book of your own. You could let everyone know which words not to use with black folks like you. Make sure you include the word "monkey" too. Some of you so-called Obamaholic Field Negroes get all worked up about that word too. I guess some 'words' have tremendous 'power' over progressive liberal black dems like you.
However, make sure you explain the difference for crappy allowable words like mf, n-word, ho, b-word, coon, and others in their class of shit, which some bm like yourself use daily on each other--and our precious bw. Obviously, those words are 'just fine' with a word policeman like you?
You so-called Field Negroes are such double-standard-dishonest characters...But hey, whatever suits YOU, right? Your skewed Sunday talks at church must really be something.
Phil, "@TSC you explained thing in simple terms they didn't understand. Then you explained them in psychological terms, they ignored that. Maybe silence works best with the deaf."
ReplyDeleteTry explaining in spiritual terms, IF you can. Many will appreciate that.
I suspect the First Lady’s discomfort over America’s moral standing had more to do with the Urban Riots, Dr. King’s assassination, Watergate, the Pentagon Papers, the Iran-Contra Affair, and the HUD scandal than with the Rev. Wright’s fiery tirades attacking America’s entrenched racism.

So you are saying that in one paragraph that it is not true that Blacks are easily surpassed by all other races and immigrants, then in the next saying they are but it is someone else's fault because they are brainwashed "mentally conditioned" to engage in self defeating behavior.
Well as pathetic as this makes Black people sound, like dumb sheep who can't do for themselves and get brainwashed into hurting themselves, as horrible and useless this makes Black people look like little mindless and intellectually incapable children. Your right. We call those people democrats. Those who are too stupid and weak to take responsibility for their own actions and those who are convinced that Blacks and Hispanics are lesser human beings and must be treated like idiotic incapable children and told what to think and do for their own good.
It is amazing that someone from another country like Jamaica can come to the U.S and be very successful. Yet a US born black is Oppressed to the point they must escape the table scraps from the country. How many other immigrant groups are successful? All of them. I wonder why?
Anyways, let me go down to the corner store and buy my malt45 from the korean who just got to the US 3 years ago, barely speaks english, but now owns a store and two houses on MY block.
I guess those koreans didnt get the memo to sit down and blame the white man for all their problems, so they decided to make it in this land of opportunity.

Did you know that asian-americans like your Korean role models, benefit greatly from it, too?
I'm sorry, did your head just explode?
Hey black anon I didn't know you were black so why don't you get a moniker or something so you can be identified.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't you think your thinking or even the way you expressed yourself should indicate some kind of solidarity with other black folks since you are black?
I'm just saying...
And maybe I will take you up on that book idea, someone needs to talk about how some black folks and other oppressed folks
got so crazy.
My daughter, 29, asked me yesterday what was Sarah Palin talking about now. She caught a soundbite. I told her that I couldn't talk about it because if I started talking about Palin, I would fuss for the next 30 minutes. And then my daughter went on a 20 minute rant herself, asking why Palin continues to get so much media attention. I told her it's because the media in America is driven, as so many other things here, by capitalism. The media will give Palin attention as long as their ratings shoot up when they do, which leads to more advertising sales. The country may go to hell in a hand basket as a result, but you know, that's a small sacrifice in the name of greed.
ReplyDeleteThe Democrat congress has just anounced they will "postpone" the public ethics charge hearings for Maxine Waters until next year. This way, they can let John Boehner and the Republicans run the the hearings, and they can use it to fire up blacks by calling the Republicans racist! Watch for the CBC to lead the charge. Works every time. It's just too easy.

ReplyDeleteit occurred to me later that i should have quoted you. my comment posted rather weird, in one big paragraph, so i just decided to clarify any confusion that might arise.
"WTF" i am talking about is the cooperation and full participation bfolks give to stereotyping each other. it was this statement by you that i addressed:
"Now if Michelle wants to kick off her heels, pull out her earrings, and have a real girl fight with Palin; she will get my undivided attention."
based up WHAT (aside from her color) would you assume that THIS is how FLOTUS would handle conflict or criticism? all you needed to add was the whole vaseline on face detail to make the stereotyping complete. that comment resonated the same way someone suggesting obamessiah would arrange a drive-by shooting for his detractors would. and of course, if someone did that in relation to a blackish man, you would suddenly have a clue. ish is real when it pertains to bm or those perceived to be bm.
i do understand that quite a few bm feel entitled to make such assertions about bw. any mischaracterization is attributed to "culture" among blacks. try not to become annoyed when i refuse to play the designated "role" and quietly play along. bw's collective silence is read as consent. no one has my consent to take such liberties that negatively impact the lives of bw and bgs.
i have seen nothing to suggest that FLOTUS falls prey to ghetto, vh1 caricature of a bw antics when facing conflict or criticism. until i do, i choose to believe she would in all likelihood handle these normal occurrences like a lady. she, like you, is a trained professional. i am sure she can present her case in an honorable respectful manner.
FN, wonder why folks don't automaticly default to the belief ww will behave like jerry springer guests? palin has clear hick tendencies...might it be a bw image problem? keep in mind we are either part of the problem or part of solution based on our choices.

Then the rest of my friends would smell the fart and believe it was the person I accused and not me.

ReplyDeleteok, FN, is that more of your hyperbole and satire? LOL. the last physical altercation i had was in middle school. this was after several MONTHS of attempting to negotiate peace with my nemesis. after months of failed attempts sonja donald EARNED her broken nose. lol. my mother told me when she came to collect me, that i must learn to better deal with conflict. she urged me to consider and understand that at a certain point that misbehavior is not a playground misunderstanding gone awry...it is assault, plus VERY unladylike. swollen knuckles and broken nails, chipped polish, do NOT belong on a lady. so no sir, no projection going on over here, simply observation and courage to call it.
I associate grown folks fist fighting with lower classed, unrefined people. (these folks can/will have money at times so don't misunderstand my use of the word class.)
at a certain point one is too old to lay hands on other folks because they disagree or are emotionally undisciplined and refuse to resist their intense desire to do so. it is frankly, uncivilized behavior. imagine if everytime someone felt like hauling off and whacking someone it was done? lol. even if only the half the time, that would be an awful lot of physical violence. no thank you.
i love the nutrole you are playing right now. (Khadija, each time i encounter this behavior i think of you and how aptly your term calls it.) i KNOW it is ME that associates earring removal, shoes off, and vaselined faces (the rest of the stereotype) before acting publicly uncivilized with women of color. i KNOW, it is ME that is way off base here. LOL. in fact I am racist for even noticing the pattern! see? i know the rules. it is not ignorance that finds me refusing to play along.
OF COURSE these types of poorly behaved characters exist in all colors. unfortunately, the tendency is to judge blacks by the least of us. is this a baffling newsflash to you as well FN?
satire and hyperbole to make a point...i must say, integration has served you well. LOL. i see while chasing racism, you have managed to rip a few pages from the white supremacy handbook to use whenever needed:-) isn't THAT the same shield racists stand behind when called on their racism? well trained field negro. good job!
and don't be frustrated. its all love. LOL. my disagreement is firm but good natured.

You are one funny little man. You do nothing and I mean nothing but spout disconnected talking points that I immediately recognize from Olberman and maddow and then do the same thing most far left radicals do, project and blame others for doing what you are guilty of.
Instead of discuss the points on why immigrants can succeed in the US and US born Blacks and Hispanics have a tough time leaning on the blame whitey shtick, you deviate into Affirmative action for a korean store owner. Can you tell me how someone who opens their own business has a hand up and gets affirmative action? Can you tell me what the hell Affirmative action has to do with what we were talking about other then to privide even more reason that U.S Born Blacks and Hispanics SHOULD make it and succeed over freshly imported koreans?

It's not just one lone Korean opening up a shop and seeing people flock to it. It's entire families of Koreans opening shops that either cater to Koreans or cater to people in areas where mainstream stores wouldn't be caught dead in. Hair and nail salons, grocery stores, handi-paks, etc,. Koreans help each other get loans, buildings, advertisements, etc,. Ditto Latinos/Mexicans and other immigrants with a sufficiently large network of fellow ethnic members they can turn to for support and funding.
Black people have similar businesses, but they have nowhere near as much support as the Koreans do. We can't turn to one another for capital because most of us don't have it, and the ones who do either waste it on material possessions that constantly lose value or they seem to reserve their capital for a select circle of well-heeled brethren.

So why aren't you harping on white women and asians for benefitting from affirmative action? Oh that's right, it clashes with your own over-simplified view of the world and innate prejudices. Carry on!
Ernesto, I think you've hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteAt one point in time, possibly still the case, white women were/are the biggest beneficiaries of Affirmative Action.

No one makes us do anything and we are not so stupid that some make beleieve man or group can brainwash us into engaging in self defeating behaviour...."
ReplyDeleteA key feature of this argument is taking White society and it's general view of Blacks out of the equation, as well as taking the countless years of mistreatment by said society since this country's birth out of the equation, too. With those variables tossed out of the window, it's very easy to attribute the ills affecting the Black community as a sort of character flaw that can be ironed out by, in your words, "improvin yourself and learn and have patience to work your way out". By that measure, one would figure that Blacks would be far ahead of recent immigrants in the entrepreneurship game and that anyone who wasn't "with it" is being weighted down by some boogieman that's invested in keeping Blacks mentally chained up.
And that's when you mention the Democrat party. You don't elaborate on it, but you do repeat the talking points of countless GOP members: "The Democrat Party mentally enslaves Blacks for their voting power by telling them all of their problems are the work of 'The Man' (which is implied to be those fine, upstanding GOP members)". The path to "freedom" lies in the average Black person running from the Democrat plantation and into the understanding arms of the largely Republican "abolitionists".
So here lies the meme of mental conditioning as devised by Democrats interested in keeping their 90+% voting constituency as opposed to the mental conditioning devised by the nation's financial and social power brokers that make up the Powers That Be™ to permanently stunt the economic, intellectual and social growth of Blacks in the U.S. that I referenced. And for that, I'm tagged as someone who thinks Blacks are, in your words, "mindless sheep that are too stupid to learn and find the truth and control our own thoughts and behaviours". In your words, of course.
Historical perspective is also lacking in this argument. The Dem/Repub relationship is pretty ironic considering how the people who currently make up the GOP are the same people who were Conservative Citizens Council members, staunch segregationists and people who were generally against Civil Rights for Blacks and other minorities. These former "Dixiecrats" moved away from the Democrat party when Lyndon Baines Johnson "betrayed" them by signing the Civil Rights Act, leaving Nixon to woo them over to the GOP as a part of his successful "Southern Strategy".
A lack of historical perspective allows you to tell people to "get out there and work hard" without giving them info on how to avoid the various economic and social roadblocks that have been consistently thrown in front of Black progress for generations on end. No, this isn't a call for Blacks to "give up", as you'd might say. It's to recognize that the climb towards success is often harder and longer for Blacks due to institutionalized prejudice and a desire by some to lock Blacks into a permanent underclass structure that benefits only a select few, yet causes large swaths of society much misery.
"You tell people that they are too stupid to be accountable for the decisions they make and can blame somebody for what they do."
How can you spot a liar when you see one? This is how.
"Ernesto, I think you've hit the nail on the head.

As long as these programs do not benefit Blacks in any appreciative way, White Americans could care less about them. You only hear about Blacks abusing Food Stamps/EBT/Welfare, but never their White counterparts.

Phase II when proven you are clueless throw down the race card.
Listen dumbass. WHite women and Asians are benefitting OK, your right. SO now with that little sidetrip down irrelavent lane of bringing up affirmative action to a discussion point on how Koreans in some cases are doing better then US born Blacks. You bring up that Blacks are not taking advantage of affirmative action and that Koreans are? Do you think much ever? Often?
Then you add in that White women benefit from Affirmative action.
All the while affirmative action or white women have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion yet it fits your racist, excuse making liberal talking point mantra.
The POINT and only focus of the discussion is if Korean Immigrants can do it, then sure as hell Blacks can too. NOW. Go play your Playstation 3. You have been found intellectually wanting and are dismissed, I could have predicted you would have thrown out a race card after the last reply. After all , what else do you have.
A lack of historical perspective allows you to tell people to "get out there and work hard" without giving them info on how to avoid the various economic and social roadblocks that have been consistently thrown in front of Black progress for generations on end.
ReplyDeleteYes. We know history. And I didnt see any historical perspective in your posts. Only that Blacks are being brainwashed and thats why they cant make it. The brainwashing is making them make bad choices. Who is doing more harm? You or the democrats?
We should make sure to fully educate and then say, now go get em and dont let that shit ever happen to you. If you see a roadblock as your pal Pelosi said, go over it, under it or around it but go get yours. If you only teach them they will fail or have a whole bunch of excuses when it gets too hard. They will wind up talkin, just like you. Nonsense.
"You tell people that they are too stupid to be accountable for the decisions they make and can blame somebody for what they do."
How can you spot a liar when you see one? This is how.
No this is how you disengenious Lying ass. So tell me how can a smart self confident man get brainwashed into "self-defeating behaviour" ??? tell me how? Who is easily brainwashed? Dumb mindless sheep. Black People are NOT I repeat NOT dumb mindless sheep no matter how many times you try and twist it.
" I was attempting to outline how the Powers That Be™ in this country have managed to brainwash a significant portion of Black people in this country into engaging in self-defeating behavior"
Field, "Did you say dumbocratic party? Nope, that's not me. They aren't left leaning enough for my taste. Sorry."
ReplyDeleteWell, how much dumber must they be to meet your left leaning standards?

ReplyDelete"You bring up that Blacks are not taking advantage of affirmative action and that Koreans are? Do you think much ever? Often?"
---------------------
Your reading comprehension sucks. I never said any such thing. I said that white women are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action and asians benefit, too. This was in response to what you said at 7:07 am:
"You should hate yourself and accept someone else providing handouts to you, for you aren't competent enough to make your own."
Do white women and asians that benefit from affirmative action hate themselves, too?

True, or else middle-class black folks would vote Republican and against their own economic self-interest, like a majority of their white counterparts routinely do.
FN,
ReplyDeleteWhat is your deal lately, perpetuating stereotypes about black women again I see (fighting comment).
Your ideologies are so engrained from your sexist, heterosexist, and classist lens that your statements covertly perpetuate negative notions of black women etc. Yawn.
It's those "innocent" statements that speak volumes about one's assumptions and biases. In just the same way you chase racist statements, you need to hold yourself accountable to sexist statements.

Ernesto,
Now I know you are a piece of crap. How dare you take a snippet to try and make your argument look like I am the one saying Black Folk should hate themselves and be dependant on handouts, when in fact I am the one arguing against that saying that Black Folk ARE capable and not dumb brainwashed sheep like you and your little twit of a mind just keeps coming back and talking about affirmative action when talking about opening a business.
For this lie you are clearly not worthy. Go bang your little head and tell that Korean business owner they were only able to open a business and succeed because white women benefit from affirmative action, you moronic little twit.
I am sorry Mr. Wesley is going to jail, but don't you think he would know better? First of all Wesley, you are a black man with money. Come on! You know the white man is going to be on you! So go to jail! and when you come out I hope you would have some sense, and take that money and help someone else!

ReplyDeleteI brought up that quote of yours because I find it curious how all of your invective is aimed at black people when it comes to what you term "handouts". My point is that affirmative action benefits more than black people and exists because there is not a level playing field out there. These are two facts which you refuse to acknowledge and which is more than tangential in reference to your "up by the bootstraps" meme.
Yes, inner city black folks need to manage their money better. We get that. But, as I have mentioned before, the same dynamic exists among rural white populations in Appalachia. The common thread between the two communities is lack of opportunity, poor education and a cycle of poverty that is very difficult to escape without government intervention, which you would characterize as "handouts" to be accepted by self-hating losers.
it's funny how much they look alike, innit? i mean nothing by this comment except to note how similar their features are. hairstyles. noses and lips/smiles and eyebrow shaping and ear bobs. it's like they could be sisters from two sides of the same blanket, so to speak.
ReplyDeletethis is a media critique, btw, for those of you who don't understand my point. which is simply: isn't it interesting, what look is most common on TV and media images of "important women?" you just hardly ever see "irregular" looking sisters of any shade.
Chicago dyke,
ReplyDeleteI noticed it too. It is if they have the same makeup artist, but First Lady looks ten years younger.
To Mack Lyon's points check out "Brainwashed" by Tom Burrell who was CEO of Burrell Advertising the most successful Black ad agency based here in Chicago. In this book he shows how the media manipulated and benefitted from false images of Black people. Also i found the research fascinating such as Thomas Jefferson's writings in whichhe expressed his true views about Black people even though he had "relations" with our women. Enlightening.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Obama’s spoke at a 2008, campaign rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where she spoke of Americans being “unified around some basic common issues”.
ReplyDeletePalin lied in her latest "not written by her" book about what Mrs. Obama actually said. As do the right wing media. The so-called main stream media and what passes for journalist, who you would expect to have more respect for their craft, pretend that they are unaware. (I realize that they are all waiting for the opportunity to get to sniff Palin).
According to Palin "Michelle Obama never felt proud of her country until her husband won the Presidential election". This is an outright lie. I can't believe that the publisher let something so easily debunked to slip by. Or maybe including this lie was deliberate.
What Mrs. Obama said: "What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something–for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction, and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’v seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud".
Afterward, the she further clarified her remarks by noting that she was referencing the “record number” of young voters participating in the political process in the 2008 campaign: "For the first time in my lifetime, I am seeing people rolling up their sleeves in way that I haven’t seen and really trying to figure this out, and that’s the source of pride I was talking about".
I don't expect shills and lapdogs like Gregory, Blitzer, Tapper, Stephanopoulos, Schieffer, Todd, Politico and most of the other so-called journalist do their job by pointing out the truth (hell, many of them lie). Not one of them will address this lie in Palin's "not written by her book".
After all, why would they since they are doing their part to assist the republicans in trying to undermine President Obama. The so-called main stream media and what passes for journalists, who you would expect to have more respect for their craft, are no better than Fox.
BTW, is is so sad to read some of the most ignorant and uneducated posts here. I am not talking about the white right-wing kabobs who come here because they cannot help their ignorance.
But black people, especially those who have low self-esteme because of their blackness (AB, I'm talking to you), do you ever read any significant sources of information. Your comments about the President's car are truely ignorant. Maybe some of you want him in a tin can so that the wackjobs can take wack at him.
Would not bother you know who (AB).
The sad part about it is that Black folks, Latinos, Asians and Indigenous folks know exactly what she meant but the conservative shills and hacks dismiss the obvious. C'mon, we by and large have a different experience in this country than our white sisters and brothers but our experiences are dismissed. The worst part about it is that people like Thomas Sowell and Ron Christie who have the ears of white people can easily explain what she meant but for the blood money they sell out and continue the myth that we all see things through the same lenses.
