At least when it comes to field goal kickers; not when it comes to wingnuts.
"According to a law enforcement memo based on information provided by DHS and obtained by Fox News, Jared Loughner, the alleged shooter of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, may have been influenced by a pro-white racist organization that publishes an anti-immigration newsletter.
No direct connection, but strong suspicion is being directed at American Renaissance, an organization that Loughner mentioned in some of his Internet postings and federal law enforcement officials are investigating Loughner's possible links to the organization." [Source]
So the shooter from Arizona was a xenophobic racist. (I guess there was something to that 2009 memo). No surprise there. He was also crazy. No surprise there. He was also able to purchase a handgun in spite of all the signs pointing to him being mentally unstable. No surprise there. This is, after all, NRAmerica.
Something else that isn't surprising: the wingnuts are now all claiming that the shooter was a democrat. "He was a godless leftist who read the Cummunist Manifesto." (He liked Mein Kamp as well but that's beside the point in wingnutland.) This all, of course, means nothing. (For the record, there is as much if not more evidence to prove that his ideology and influence is more right leaning than left.)
Still, Jared Lee Lougher's political and ideological leanings are irrelevant. As usual the wingnuts are missing the point. This is not about a deranged individual named Jared Lee Lougher going on a shooting spree. This is about the leaders of a movement (insert tea party here) and of a major political party calling for citizens to rise up against the government to regain political power. The rhetoric on the right came from the top. ("You lie!") It's about a major political figure on the right putting the congresswoman's face in her "cross hairs" with the image of the scope of a rifle for special effect.
It doesn't work that way. You created this environment and now you have to live with the consequences. Scrubbing your facebook page and having the benefit of FOX NEWS 24/7 propaganda won't change the facts. Your rhetoric and red meat fired up your base, and those among you who are well meaning came out and exercised their civic duty and voted out the bums who they thought were not acting in their best interest. That's fine. On the other hand, those among you (and those in the population at large) who hated the government for a different reason, saw this as an opportunity to put their hatred on full display.
I started this post on a sports note and I will end with one as it is directly connected to this story. The nine year old girl who tragically lost her life was the granddaughter of the manager who brought Philadelphia a championship in baseball back in 1980. She went to the gathering because she wanted to be a politician, (she was president of her elementary school class) and she admired the congresswoman. She paid for that visit with her life.
"According to the Alaska Dispatch site, Palin aide Rebecca Mansour said in an interview with Alaska radio host Tammy Bruce, a Palin supporter, that there was 'nothing ' about the 20 crosshair-like symbols that appeared on a map of districts targeted last year by Palin's PAC, including that of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
"We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights. ... We never imagined, it never occurred to us that anybody would consider it violent,' Mansour said." [Source]

Field,
ReplyDeleteLike I said on the previous post. I HATE FIELD GOAL KICKERS!!! Eagles have to improve the defense and offensive line next year. Then they can make a run.
By the way Field, Great Post on the Arizona situation. I bet the Teabaggers will beg to differ. But who cares. They, Foxnews, and Right Wingnut Radio have blood on their hands. And like I said before I don't care if any one of those backward ass Teabagger 'Bamas disagree. They can't spin or shout their way out of this.
ReplyDeleteYou think having a Black prez contributed to the madness?
ReplyDeleteYour baseless accusations are disgusting. With every word on this subject you dig yourself deeper into the mire.

ReplyDeleteFor some reason the above is hard for some people to comprehend. Jared is just one out of many mentally ill people easily influenced to react to the hatred and violence spewed over the TV, radio, and internet 24/7.
The tone about Government is worse than I have ever known it to be in my lifetime and there are more Arizona incidents to come. However, it is a step in the right direction if people in powerful political positions and broadcasting tone down the hateful and violent rhetoric. Regardless of which political party they support.
Field, "At least when it comes to field goal kickers; not when it comes to wingnuts."
ReplyDeleteYou lack the capacity to forgive your fellow human beings. You talk about hatred while you hate on Conservatives. You criticize and blame others while you do EXACTLY what you criticize Conservatives for.
You ought to be ashamed of yourselves, but you clearly are not. You see, you have to have a sense of moral ethics and spirit to feel ashamed for doing wrong.

Don't forget that picture of the rifle that was aimed at President Obama's head on the Fox Nation Web site or the crosshairs on a picture targeting Obama's daughters last year either. Or Bachmann inciting insurrection against the government or Beck who went so far as to announce a civil war coming in the near future. The list goes on and on with the same bad actors...Beck, Palin, Bachmann, Fox We Make Up Lies News, Rush...
ReplyDeleteFCC should have pulled the plug on all of them a long time ago. Freedom of speech is one thing, but insurrection against the government is an entirely different matter.
These are some dangerous people!

@PilotX, I got your replies from the previous topic. All four of them, to be exact. Blogger's commenting system is pretty buggy and strange things happen. Comments get lost and don't show up until much later and all that.

It's from the Obama in London people, and it details (with screen-shots) how any negative posts about Palin were almost instantly deleted from her website last night.
AND YET, a post that says it was a good thing that the nine-year old girl was murdered (because she would probably have grown up to be a Democrat) was allowed to stay up on the site.
Truly astonishing window into the wingnut psyche.
Here is a screen shot of the post that was allowed to stay on Palin's website.

Apparently Palin's people had no problem showing that post, but posts saying "You must take some blame for this" were removed more-or-less instantly.

ReplyDeleten the wake of the mass shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others in Tucson, we must end the violent rhetoric that has exploded in American politics over the past two years.
That's why we're calling on every member of Congress, as well as the major TV news networks, to put an end to overt and implied appeals to violence in our political debate.
A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to Congress and the major TV news networks.

pilotX and hathor,
ReplyDeleteThe following paragraphs describe outline the basic critieria for receiving a transplant organ. As you can see, with respect to drunks getting livers, nothing has changed since Mickey Mantle got two.
Someone who is drug/alcohol dependent at the time of requesting a new liver (that mdeans now, today) is disqualified. But someone like Mantle, who quit drinking after decades of alcohol abuse, qualified in 1995 AND qualifies today.
Determining Need
The United Network for Organ Sharing classifies an adult's transplant need using the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) scoring system if she is 18 years or older, or the Pediatric End-Stage Liver Disease (PELD) scoring system if younger than 18 years.
Scores determine who needs an organ most urgently. Scoring methods are based on how likely death could occur without a transplant within 3 months.
Eligibility
Though some transplant centers use slightly varied criteria for eligibility, all patients must have very advanced liver disease to qualify for an organ.
The majority of hospitals also require that an individual is able to pay for surgery and treatment.
Drug and alcohol abstinence is mandatory, and every recipient must commit to taking her prescribed medications and participate in rehabilitation.
WOWThe link you provided Purple Cow is very telling about Palin, the people who works for her and the people who comments on her FB page.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered where an army of Anons get their marhching orders when a topic is not favorable towards Republicans or the Tea Party. The comment section revealed the answer...Thanks for sharing that link Purple Cow.
With respect to Loughner, how do you nitwits determine the impact of Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. on his mental processes?
ReplyDeleteInasmuch as there is no evidence he listened to a single minute of their broadcasts, it's sadly amusing that black readers are so certain about causes.
Moreover, since we live in a democracy, assassination has almost no impact on the political process. On top of losing four presidents to assassination, others have died in office. The country kept rolling along on the path it had been on prior to the death of the chief.
Even in Africa, where a number of Presidents-for-Life have been assassinated, the countries have remained stuck in the mud after each change of administration.

ReplyDeleteaccording to the wapo, during gifford's race, "her Republican opponent invited supporters to a Saturday morning campaign event where they could shoot an M16 and "Get on Target for Victory in November."
"Get on target for Victory"? Yeah so? How is Loughner connected to this?
It's not as though the losing Republican opponent is to be appointed as Giffords' replacement.
When is mental illness just mental illness? Every crazy lunatic has an obsession. This clown was obsessed with grammar, literacy and mind-control. But despite his obsession with grammar and literacy, one of his most publicized rants is nothing but a mindless tautology.
Meanwhile, at this point there's no evidence he ever mentioned the name of any politician or supported any candidate. But there's an overwhelming pile of evidence that he's totally nuts.
field, you wrote:
ReplyDeleteSo the shooter from Arizona was a xenophobic racist.
He's a xenophobic racist because he shot a white female member of the House of Representatives? Yeah. That adds up.
Don't you think a xenophobic racist would take a short drive from Tucson down to the border and shoot a Mexican as he slipped into the US late one night?
No. Not in field-fantasy-land, where the new definition of a xenophobic racist is a white US citizen of Arizona who shoots a white female who is also a US citizen and also a citizen of Arizona.
Field, your impaired reasoning and logic make it painfully clear why the black jury acquitted OJ.
The white nut shoots a white female, but you seem to have overlooked the possiblity that he had issues with women. Maybe he's an insane male chauvinist. Maybe he hates woman. Seems he shot more than one and at least one of the dead was female.
He was also crazy. No surprise there. He was also able to purchase a handgun in spite of all the signs pointing to him being mentally unstable. No surprise there. This is, after all, NRAmerica.
Your post seems to be a feeble attempt to take attention away from ongoing carnage in Killadelphia. How do your local killers -- and we know they are almost all black -- get their guns?
What is their motivation for killing? Are you going to theorize they've listened to too much thug rap? If anyone needed an example of mind-control, it can be seen in full force among young black males.
Frankly, you and most of your black posters admit to it every day. The chief argument used by blacks to excuse every social pathology in black America is -- We Were Once Slaves.
Repeating that mantra has had devastating effects.
no_slappz,
ReplyDeleteNo one disputed that, but you still don't know where anyone is on the list with respect to their type of illness. Actually you don't know until the organ is available and you are in the hospital and after being tested that day whether you will be eligible for transplant regardless of where you are on the list. You may be the sickest in terms of the disease with liver, but if you have an infection or some other problem that would severely reduce the success of surgery, you will not get the transplant. There is usually only a 24 hr window on the donor organ.
Another thing that you don't take into account, sometime the donor organ may have other problems that are undetected, beside tissue matching that would cause it to fail. Then there are some people who bodies will continue to reject transplants no matter what the organ. Its fortunate that people with Kidney failure have dialysis. There is progress being made in dialysis for the Liver, perhaps that would extend more lives in the future.
You also mentioned that Jobs had got residency in another state so that he could get on to another list. That reason is because he didn't live within two hours of the hospital where they would do the transplant. I live in an area where I am within 2 hours of hospitals in 3 states, I could have been on a list in each state, if I had chose to with out being a resident. In fact I was encouraged by the doctors to do so. I would have had to have been evaluated by each transplant team. In fact my transplant clinic has an office in one neighboring state.
I lost a comment which I had gone into more detail.

No because that would take guts which most of you xenophobic racist cowards don't possess.
Easier to fire into a crowd and shoot women and children.
Just like I can never figure out why white supremacists like you don't load up a few trucks and head for the nearest black ghetto to you and talk one-tenth of the smack you talk on these boards.

hathor,
ReplyDeleteBefore posting about transplant practices, policies and procedures, I was aware of everything you mentioned.
My original point was, and remains, that former drunks and drug addicts are eligible for liver transplants and based on the criteria for surgery those former drunks and drug addicts are the ones chosen to get the scarce organs at the moment they are available. That means in the case of which of two recipients is sickest, if it is the former drunk or former drug addict, then he gets the liver while the person who contracted hepatitis due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam waits a little longer.
oh boy, funny negroes have no sense of honesty. As if field would post the graphic of the 2004 Dem campaign that showed the states and the bullseyes. Same thing. Or talk about Obongo saying "if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun". Or mention that Jared's classmates described him as liberal. Or that he loves The Communist Manifesto as well as Mein Kampf.
ReplyDeleteI see that steve is still the groups gutter ape. Or should I say: gutter monkey.

hathor, you wrote:
ReplyDeleteYou also mentioned that Jobs had got residency in another state so that he could get on to another list. That reason is because he didn't live within two hours of the hospital where they would do the transplant.
You must be joking. Not only does he live in the midst of leading-edge medical facilities, he could afford to have a private jet, helicopter, ambulance or whatever waiting outside the door of Apple to take him wherever he needed to go on a moment's notice.
Anyway, it's well known that he picked either Kentucky or Tennessee (I forgot which of the two it was, but you can google it) because when it comes to livers, it has the shortest waiting list compared with supply. California, on the other hand, has a long list relative to supply.
Moreover, as per the requirements, Jobs was prepared to pay. I have no doubt he paid and threw in a little extra, perhaps as a tie-breaker if he were to land in a close race with another recipient.
I live in an area where I am within 2 hours of hospitals in 3 states, I could have been on a list in each state, if I had chose to with out being a resident.
I'll bet that if two patients are judged equally eligible when an organ becomes available, the final decision would be based on the state of residence vs the state in which the surgery is to happen.
In fact I was encouraged by the doctors to do so. I would have had to have been evaluated by each transplant team. In fact my transplant clinic has an office in one neighboring state.
These details are all very interesting, but they have no bearing on my original statement, which, by the way, you know to be true.
And I do hope your new kidney works flawlessly and the anti-rejection drugs are effective.
hey maria, you'd better watch out. Da sistahs is starting to assault you mudsharks. Don't you read any news that isn't fed to you by field and company? "I can't stand those bitches" the most recent one said, right before she ran into a fat mudshark with her car.
ReplyDeleteBtw, mudsharks are about 700% more likely to die from domestic violence, too. Can you guess why?
transplants shouldn't be discussed without mentioning larry hagman. It is true that the organ transplant groups practice favoritism.
ReplyDeleteHathor seems like such a decent person, I wish her well, too.
I don't know why she hangs around in the same place as that gutter monkey, but hey. I imagine nobody is happy with his presence here or anywhere.
which of you would mention the Democrat who talked about picking up the pitchforks if the tax breaks were extended to the wealthy?
ReplyDeleteI agree with her, too.
Or that Jared attended a previous such meet-n-greet and asked a question 2 years ago. He is a registered Democrat. He is psychotic, like the unabomber. He rambles about his grammar obsession and illiteracy and you bigots say "that's racist against mexicans". He is an anarchist leaning left.
Now, who will bring up the anti-semite angle that the biased media is pushing?
http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2006/04/jews_and_americ.php
"...bear in mind that Jews have a valuable role in the work of American Renaissance, and are welcome participants and speakers. Anyone who thinks otherwise has the choice of staying home or keeping his views to himself."
So much for truthfulness in the media. And it only takes 2 minutes to check, yet they don't do it. Why? Because it is so automatic to holler about racism. You people are the real simple-minded bigots.
no_slappz,
ReplyDeleteWith any transplant patient as with Jobs, that's the point. You get on other list to improve your chances. He may have advantages, but you make some of them seem draconian,
no_slappz,
ReplyDeleteI'll bet that if two patients are judged equally eligible when an organ becomes available, the final decision would be based on the state of residence vs the state in which the surgery is to happen.
That wouldn't be the case because you place on the list may be different for each list. Your placement is determined long before an organ is available. You can get bumped if you have type "O" blood, since persons with other blood types can accept an organ with "O"
blood type.
I guess what I am trying to point out is that, your status on the list is not determined so simply, so unless you were there or know for a fact that someone bought an organ, you can not imply how fair is the present system or who takes an unfair advantage.
the hobama nuts who run all ms media are flaunting their amnesia about dem hate speech...shame!!!

ReplyDeletehey, I just read Hathor's profile and she seems here to be the opposite of what she wrote there. She must have written that long ago and has successfully made the transformation.
ReplyDeleteHathor trivia: I'm not a sci-fi fan but I did see an episode of Stargate SG1 that has Hathor in it, maybe there were more than the one episode. You know, in the Eqyptians-were-aliens vein. Just trivia.
I'd read Jobs bio years ago. He's as much a psychopathic jerk as Gates. (I hope you all know Gates was notorious for never giving to charity, until M$ started getting heat from govts around the world. Charity = influencing juries. He's also a snake and thief.)
ReplyDeletepurple cow asks:
ReplyDeleteHow many left-leaning anarchists do you know that list Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' amongst their favorite books?
How many readers and posters at this site can compare and contrast Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto?
Do you suppose the two texts lay out ideologies that are polar opposites?
The two are more alike than different, and it is where they are similar that they are most brutal, repressive and murderous.
This Jared Loughner is an obviously unstable individual. Sometimes people are just plain old crazy. No different than the Army psychiatrist who snapped and shot up Fort Hood or the nutcase shot up the Discovery Channel. Hence why I support gun control - its far too easy for crazy people to get guns in this country.
ReplyDeleteHowever, to claim that folks like Palin, Limbaugh and Beck didn't fan the flames for temporary political power - is just as stupid as conservative Americans pretending that they have no understanding why Al Qaida and other radical Muslim and Sectarian groups are popping up in Iraq and Afghanistan. You're either a moron or you're full of it.
This is blowback 101 - you create a hellstorm for short term political gain, you damn well better be ready for the unmitigated (but altogether obvious) results. You can't terrorize and speak violence into our culture and not expect some rather immature or unstable person to take it too far.
Its funny how guys like Limbaugh and other pundits readily attack hip-hop artists and the occasional rock act for excessive violence and sexism - but won' take a good look at the kind of paranoia, ignorance and hate they spread every day on the TV and radio. Its also ironic that many of those same rappers and rock singers take more responsibility for what they say than these political hacks. If Eminem can write a song about the dangers of obsession over his lyrics and Jay-Z openly talks about regretting promoting violence, why can't Sarah Palin or Rush say 'hey man, I may not agree with the Dems or liberals, but I by no means support violence against fellow Americans'?
Oh that's right, shameless hypocrisy is an engraved component of the American conservative psyche, along with outright bigotry.
As an side - Anon@1:36, say word. Jobs and Gates are both seen as rich pricks amongst the IT world who often rip off their competition or just bury them.
I dont know what is more disgusting, the shooters behavior or the media's behavior in response to the shooter! White values in action.
ReplyDeleteNo_slappz, how would Hilter's arguments for hyper-capitalism and a reactionary response to the economic downturn post WWI be similar to a relatively tiny pamphlet laying out the underline problems with capitalism and ambiguously stating a flawed alternative? They're both written in German?
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeletere:Jobs link
Whats your point?
Field you did a good job of pointing out how-- though they deny it vociferously -the right wing hate mongering and propaganda has indeed produced a climate which could lead to someone doing something as tragic as the Tucson shooter did.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand I don't think that it was just the violent and backwards rhetoric of the Tea Partyers and the right wing, even though they have been waving a lot of guns around. This government is about solving its conflicts through violence as well. We live in a violent society. I don't think its that surprising that every once in a while, a crazy person is going to absolutely snap and do something to attack someone in the political arena, for whatever reason.
This country is producing more and more desperate and mentally ill folks just through its policies of neglect and inequality.
Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Puma County nailed it when he said after the shooting, "the anger , the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be dangerous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capitol. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."
He also said in an interview that, "I think that people who are unbalanced are especially susceptible to vitriole."
Hathor - the point was that Steve Jobs may have bought his way up the liver transplant list.
ReplyDeleteIts very rare for an person with his advance stage of liver disease to receive a transplant. And its hard to get a liver transplant in general. My best friend's dad died because of liver disease so its kind of a personal issue to me.
But, once again, money may have triumph all.
@Slapped-stupid, moron, you still didn't google the term MELD score did you? If you did you wouldn't be as misinformed as you are about the topic of liver transplants. My mom is in the hospital right now as we speak waiting for a liver and I have talked to doctors and counselors about the procedure and you are clearly wrong. It is a waste of time talking to you as you spout off about things you know nothing about and then spew racist nonsense. I'm not wasting any more precious time trying to educate someone hopelessly ignorant as yourself. Please, for the love of god do not procreate, your type of stupid does not need to continue.
ReplyDeleteDidn't read all the comments, so someone else probably said this already. . . but you've got to love the selective amnesia of the Palinites -- Caribou Barbie herself referred to "crosshairs" in more than one tweet, and, although they've been scrubbing like crazy, nothing ever truly goes away in cyberspace.
ReplyDeleteThey wouldn't bother scrubbing at all if someone in Palin's circle wasn't feeling some twinges of guilt. If it were up to me, Mooselini would be doing a perp walk after being charged with sedition.
For the record as someone who has actually read both Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto the two are in no way similar.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you LAA, trying to say that the two documents are similar may be proof that one hasn't read them. Or the other possibility is that someone could just be lying to make a wrong headed political point.
The Manifesto should be read by everyone who wants to understand the real function of the system they live under which is capitalism. After all these years it is still one of the best primers describing the reality and the real goals of the capitalists.
It breaks down the economic relationship between employer and employee. It explains the real role of banks and give the capitalist credit for being an equal opportunity exploiter.
And one doesn't have to want to change the system to understand it. It's just wise to know how and why this political/social/economic system.
Mein Kampf actually denounces Marxism and denounces Jews for what he says is their domination of the world financial system and for their part in creating WWI. He denounces them for their religion and assumes that they are deluding German culture. He also outlines in part what he plans to do with Jews and other racial groups if the Nazis come to power.
He also outlines his plans to bring Germany and Austria together and lays out his racist Aryan theories and just how he and his party would bring his theories into German life once they gained power.
pilotX,
ReplyDeleteOnce again your reading impairment allowed you to miss my post that addressed UNOS and MELD, and on top of MELD, there is PELD.
In any case, as the UNOS itself states, former drunks and drug addicts -- today -- are eligible for liver transplants if they are sick enough at the moment a liver is available.
But, as we know, there are more ailing people than available livers. Therefore, as I know, but you cannot grasp, a former drunk or former drug addict may win the daily race for a liver. That means someone such as your relative, also sick, but not quite as sick as the former drunk or former drug addict, has to wait another day.
As we know, the waiting process leads to the deaths of some ill people. However, even a dummy like you can understand the number of available livers is dependent on factors like car accidents and murder.
But we also know there are far, far more ill recipients than livers. A high percentage of people in need of a liver damaged their livers with alcohol and drugs. Therefore, it is an obvious fact that your relative is competing with former alcoholics and former drug addicts for the next available liver.
Ask the doctor if any recent recipients ahead of your relative damaged their livers through bad lifestyle habits.
mellaneous, you wrote:
ReplyDeleteField you did a good job of pointing out how...the right wing hate mongering and propaganda has indeed produced a climate which could lead to someone doing something as tragic as the Tucson shooter did.
If you believe what you wrote then you must believe that gangsta rap and related audio/visual thug-life influences are responsible for the high rate of murder committed by young black males.
And based on your claim, it must also be true that you believe islam itself is motivating cause of international islamic terrorist murder and mayhem, which explicitly calls the deaths of anyone who is seen as an enemy of islam -- which is everyone who is not a practicing muslim.
Of course, practicing muslims gleefully slaughter each other over which of them are the true believers.
mellaneous,
ReplyDeleteBoth Mein Kanpf and the Communist Manifesto agree on propaganda and scape-goating.
Mein Kampf is not a treatise on hyper-capitalism, as Nazi Germany showed. But that's not a key point, anyway.
Meanwhile, the fact that you believe the Communist Manifesto accomplished what you claimed is nothing more than your opinion.
Obviously the real-world experience of the Soviet Union, Cuba and North Korea suggest Marx had no idea what the heck he was ranting about.
Anyway, in both cases, the "market" was controlled by the government. Once the government controls commerce, little else matters because citizens are at the mercy of the despots running the country.
National Socialism and Communism both centralize all power in handful of self-serving martinets.
Granny, "FCC should have pulled the plug on all of them a long time ago. Freedom of speech is one thing, but insurrection against the government is an entirely different matter.
ReplyDeleteThese are some dangerous people!"
there you go exaggerating again. face it, you leftists just love to hate on conservatives-and then call us the haters. smh
field,
ReplyDeleteIt seems that comment of mine that you repeatedly remove is too true to bear.
no.
ReplyDeleteIts something wrong with the comments. I lost another comment within the hour.
LAC,
ReplyDeleteIf Jobs did buy his transplant, would that be an example of how the whole system works. For most of what I read in that article, there wasn't anything but suspicion.
As an average person I can't judge the diagnosis or speculate. I usually don't try to speculate, because I know that disease can express itself so differently in each individual.
For the record the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf have nothing in common. But I suggest that folks read them for themselves. Well actually Mein Kampf is hard to read but if one reads it for its themes you can get the gist of what Hitler is saying.
ReplyDeleteHowever the Manifesto explains Capitalism rather than giving out Marxist ideology. Marx merely analyzes the functions of that system. But if you don't read it you wouldn't know it.
The system we live under in no way wants folks to talk about cooperation and its benefits over competition. They want us to believe that this system that produces so many inequities and equality and discourages human unity is the only way to operate in the world.
Thus they try to confuse us by mislabeling systems.
My point is that what happened under Stalin and afterward 'was not' communism but a bastardized version that was really totalitarianism.
Neither is North Korea. Cuba is closer but of course its is ostracized and misrepresented because it is not in the capitalist orbit, but actually tries to create a system that recognizes everyones need for shelter, food, medical care and simple human dignity.
Of course that is anti-thetical to capitalism!
hathor,
ReplyDeleteif anyone goes to the link they will see a science page that was explaining how the transplant scores are done, for those who don't know.
i had no "point" other than to share information.
also, jobs got his transplant faster by getting on a list in kentucky, which was shorter than other places.
sorry, it was tennessee.
ReplyDelete"Did Steve Jobs’ wallet help cut transplant wait?
Opinion: The Apple co-founder's trip to Tennessee for liver raises questions
By Arthur Caplan, Ph.D.
excerpt:
updated 6/23/2009 2:45:56 PM ET
Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ recent trip to
Tennessee to pick himself up a new liver has
raised some sticky questions about what
money can buy.
Jobs, 54, was diagnosed with a rare form of
pancreatic cancer five years ago and had a
piece of his pancreas removed. The prognosis
with tumors of the pancreas is not good, the
cancer can spread to the liver.
First, let me say I wish Jobs the best. This
column is being typed on an Apple computer,
while an iPod is playing and an iPhone is
displaying missed messages on its screen. You
would be hard-pressed to find a stronger
Apple devotee and Steve Jobs admirer than I
am.
But the news that this incredibly wealthy
resident of Silicon Valley, Calif., had transplant
surgery thousands of miles from his home at the
University of Tennessee in Memphis,
according to the Wall Street Journal, raises
some important questions about access to
health care at a time when America is in the
midst of a major battle over health reform.
According to data from the United Network for
Organ Sharing based in Richmond, Va., the
quasi-public agency that distributes donated
organs to those on waiting lists around the
nation, there were roughly 16,000 people on
the national liver waiting list when Jobs got a
liver. He was one of 1,581 people who got
livers in the United States in the first quarter of
this year. Almost none of those people had
any form of cancer.
According to UNOS, there were 295 newly
listed liver patients in Tennessee last year and
1,615 in California.
Shorter wait time in Tennessee
And UNOS data shows the median number of
days from getting on the liver waiting list to
getting a transplant was 306 nationally, in
Tennessee only 48.
By traveling to Memphis, Jobs could drastically
increase the odds he would secure a liver and
cut the wait time. He also might have tried to
gain entry to more transplant centers to
increase the odds that he would get a
transplant. Jobs or anyone with enoughmoney can ”multiply list” at many centers and,
by putting chips on more than one number,
boost the odds of winning the transplant
lottery. About 3 percent of all those on the
national waiting list for livers, hearts and
kidneys are listed at more than one program.
Jobs appears to have known exactly how to
use his resources to maximize his chances of
getting a life-saving transplant. Most
Americans do not.

The last few days I've been remembering the film "Becket" & the scene where Peter O'Toole as Henry II delivers the infamous line: "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?", knowing full well that his dumb-as-dirt barons would immediately rush off to murder Thomas Becket. It seems to me that some people have forgotten, or find it convenient to forget, that there are lots of crazy or stupid people in the world, & that unscrupulous people encouraging or provoking crazy or stupid ones to commit violent or criminal acts then denying any involvement or culpability is an ancient ploy.
ReplyDelete"It seems that comment of mine that you repeatedly remove is too true to bear."
ReplyDeleteNo, I can guarantee you that nothing you write here is "too true to bear". You might want to try posting it again.
I never saw it.

ReplyDeleteMy point is that what happened under Stalin and afterward 'was not' communism but a bastardized version that was really totalitarianism.
Yeah, that's what sunni muslims say about shiite muslims. And vice-versa. Each says the other practices a bastardized form of islam. And they kill each other to show how deeply they believe their own nonsense.
As I said, Marx and Hitler both crafted ideologies suitable for totalitarians. Both depend on relentless propaganda, and both need a whipping boy on whom to dump all the sins of of the old order, which usually include the sin of some unwanted demographic.
Interestingly, though Marx was Jewish and thinking that communism would get its toehold in Germany, instead, things blossomed in Russia and Jews were victimized. Whoops.
Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, Germany took the idea of a pogrom to previously untouched heights.
Two totalitarian ideologies that functioned similarly, despite what you seem to believe. Did you forget that Nazi Germany began to depend on slave labor because the nonsense about Nazis being supercapitalists was just that -- nonsense.
Anyway, one giant state-run corporation or one giant corporate state. No difference.
I wonder who that other person of interest might be. If he is involved is he as insane as Loughner.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if one is mentally ill, does that mean that they can't reason, even if our premises differ from theirs.
hathor, you asked:
ReplyDeleteI wonder who that other person of interest might be. If he is involved is he as insane as Loughner.
The "other person" was a cab driver who took Loughner to the Safeway and then walked in with him so Loughner could get money from an ATM to pay the cab fare.
When he heard the cops were looking for him, he checked in with the police.
no,
ReplyDeleteThere goes Loughner insanity defense.
Hi Field; Mt. Airy Groove here.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the conversation right now is that it's "nuanced".
To that end, what are your thoughts on the "now" old school terms "Mommy Party" (Democrats) and Daddy Party (Republicans).
I really think this is where all of this started.
Wait another thing; HOW DID RUSSELL SIMMONS BECOME THE GO TO GUY FOR BLACK PEOPLE??????
ReplyDeleteLast comment to you Slapz, sorry I missed your mention of MELD scores and for the record, until she developed an infection my mom was number one on the list. If you understand the MELD scores you would then know a person with substance abuse is a bed candidate and thus woulr recieve a lower score. She was number one in the entire region. Once again, as I have come to expect you are wrong and made an incorrect assumption. Like I told you before, in this situation I know more than you do but you insist on making assumptions without any facts to back you up. This is the last communication between us, sure I'll miss ya but you just continue to fulfill your purpose and I'll be happy. Your job is to continue to show yourself to be inferior to the intelligent Black people on this blog so we can see that your idea of being superior is a fantasy. Funny how utterly inferior white supremacists turn out to be. Sad.
ReplyDeletePilot
ReplyDeleteOn point.
Slappy is a clown flailing about for attention.
He is best ignored.
Great post, Field. You cut to the heart of the hate.
ReplyDeleteThe hate is so obvious. It pains that some refuse to see it.
No Slapzzzzzzzzzzz said...
ReplyDeleteDo you suppose the two texts lay out ideologies that are polar opposites?
Yes.
The two are more alike than different, and it is where they are similar that they are most brutal, repressive and murderous.
You have quite clearly never read the Communist Party Manifesto.
