"Love the skin you're in". One musician has taken those words to the next level.
Vybz Kartel, a Jamaican Reggae and dancehall artist, recently lightened his skin and received a massive backlash from fans that are shocked by his physical alteration. Kartel claims that his skin lightening is similar to tanning.
"This is my new image," Kartel said in an interview. "You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with black people lightening their skin. They want a different look. It's tantamount to white people getting a sun tan."
How did he get so light? Kartel won't reveal what strong agent he used to lighten his skin, but claims that his newly endorsed brand of cake soap is what can help others do the same.
However, Bounty Killer, a Grammy nominated Jamaican dancehall deejay, claims that the product Kartel is selling doesn't work. Killer's mother has used cake soap and her skin has not been bleached. He believes that Kartel used a stronger product to lighten his skin."
Seriously, WTF? And Bounty Killer, I am going to have to talk to your mama. [Source]

Meanwhile, down in Washington, the republi-clowns continue to "fiddle while Rome burns". Damn near half of the population is burdened with a pre-existing medical condition which could leave them without medical coverage, and these nitwits, in a shameful play at political grandstanding, chose to vote to repeal health care reform. Nice.
"The vote passed Wednesday 245-to-189 — with unanimous GOP support, plus three Democrats. But the repeal bill is destined to die in the Senate, so Republicans will use their newly acquired power in the House to wage a long-term campaign to weaken the law.
The next steps — hearings, testimony from administration officials, funding cuts — lack the punch of a straight repeal vote, but Republicans said they will keep at it, hoping the end result is the same: stalling implementation of the $900 billion law.
Republicans promise to hold a series of hearings and oversight investigations into the law, attempt to repeal individual provisions and craft an alternative health care plan. Some of the first issues they will tackle are the cost of the law, the mandate on larger employers to provide coverage and the impact of the legislation on the states. [Source]
Fiddle fiddle fiddle fiddle....
But these folks don't care, even if the economy goes into the tank. In fact, that is exactly what they want to happen. A good economy means that the skinny black guy with the Muslim name might actually get reelected. And, let's be honest; this isn't about what's best for the country, it's about holding on to power and winning back the White House.
Finally, I wan't to comment on this following issue but I can't stop laughing long enough to type it.
"What a way to mark Martin Luther King Day. Michael Reagan, son of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, chose January 17 to suggest the unspeakable. On the Fox News website, Reagan argued that his father was more of a friend to black people than President Obama. He even suggested that he "could make an even stronger case for my father, Ronald Reagan, as 'our first black president'", the way that Clinton was called America's first black president." [Article]
*still laughing*

what have hobama and his banksters done that is good for the economy?
ever???
Ms. Banks: See the attached link, which is the 1st of a 4 part link. http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2010/10/president-obamas-244-accomplishments/
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the read. And in the sense of patriotism, have the decency to at least address the President of the United States with his proper title. I am sure you can appreciate the courtesy of not being called out of your name. I am extending it to you in this response.
FN: You know 40 was down with the cause. He put Bonzo to bed.
Peter Tosh would straight buck... then again thats what ya get for tainting the best music genre with non-conscious yahoos.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Lucky Dube when you need him?
Field,
ReplyDeleteThe Wingnuts will continue playing games because they have no answers to the country's problems. And they could care less about the job situation.
Vybz's looks like crap. While never a looker, he should go natural.
ReplyDeleteHe is not the only musician today pouring mercury on his skin. Congo's biggest star Kofi Olomide appears to be using.
Most of the women in my wife's village (she's from Africa) meeting use the stuff. Some have even suggested she lighten to match my pasty skin... They get an earful.
This is another taboo topic.

ReplyDeleteLess than 1% of all Americans have ever been denied coverage due to pre-exisitng conditions. Rather than find a solution for those not served by the existing system, Obamacare ruins healthcare for the 99%+ for whom it works AND bankrupts the country at the same time.
Obamacare was a terrible solution to a non-crisis situation passed in a panic, in the dead of night using parlimentary tricks, with no thought, with no one even reading the bill. This congress was elected to fix the excesses of the previous one, and Goddamn it, they did it.
Alicia - Healthcare reform isn't perfect, but its by all accounts a good thing. And its light years ahead of what the Right are thinking about as healthcare reform, which is nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe Age of Boehner, if it keeps going this way - is going to be bigger joke than the Gingrich revolution. No rational person supports throwing away so-called "Obama Care" and replacing it to what we had before and still for the most part have now. Unless you're talking about Single Payer - anything else is a joke.
You may hate Obama with all your spirit, AB, but you must agree Boehner ain't proposing anything other than a return to an unregulated Insurance industry.
Field, here was response I put up to Face Book about Mike Reagan's continual attempts to have his Father put on mount Rushmore and Red-Ink Ronnie's quotes as the 67th book of the Bible:
"Michael is trying to ensure that his father is never viewed for the right jackass and senile old coot he really was. When the Tea Party folks and other Republican fellow travelers finally wake up- they'll realize Reagan, his cronies and disciples sold them a bill of goods. Obama is well on his way to be considered one of the best politicians in modern times - quickly pushing aside Clinton and Reagan. The Mulatto Guy in the White House has passed more reforms (like them or loathe them) than anyone since LBJ. And Michael Reagan ain't gonna let some Negro outshine his daddy in the history books!
I used to listen to Michael Reagan back in college. He has always pimped his father's name and image for money and fame. And this time is no different."
At Reverend Right (HAHA, very funny) how is our healthcare system not in crisis? Most people go bankrupt by becoming sick and not being able to pay the ridiculous premiums. Our ERs are flooded with uninsured people who use the Emergency Room as their primary care physicians. We pay more than everyone else on planet Earth and get crappier results than many third world countries.
I could go on, but from your post before, it appears that you have no clue about the real world.

Except of course 55% of the American people, but I guess the majority of the country is not rational.
"Most people go bankrupt by becoming sick and not being able to pay the ridiculous premiums. Our ERs are flooded with uninsured people who use the Emergency Room as their primary care physicians. What planet do you live on? Most Americans are now bankrupt from medical expenses? We have crappier healthcare than many third world countries?
Do you ever leave your house? Do even think about what you are typing? Talk about clueless, honestly LAC, they don't come any dumber than you.
there seems to be a problem with posting comments on blogger right now. FN, please pardon any double postings.
ReplyDeleteAB, i am sure you've noticed that whenever you are being attacked with mind boggling vulgarity, folks don't make a peep. not even the good reverend. too busy is he convincing himself folks feel embaressed in 2011 about early 1900goings ons. lol.
the tone of the exchanges before you entered the fray had a very masculine ring to it. until some of these males on this blog type a word in your defense, i would sit it out when they start hurling insults/inconvenient truths at bm. as i indicated previously, in a patriarch, the wins and losses are placed solely on the shoulders of the menfolk. the women and children of the losers pay mightily as a result of how the system is set up. bw of yesteryear have paid mightily already. those paying today, do so by choice.
this being america and all, folks are free to do what they please. i understand your rebel spirit as well. however, if exercsing it puts you smack dab in the middle of abuse that wasn't intended for you, it defies all logic to sign up for the abuse you will sustain W/O backup from those you are attempting to back up. AB, i say it with love sis.
even racists will tell the truth from time to time. through wiser choices and better practices, bw can free themselves from the plague of hiv/aids and other std/sti. folks don't care to address the suffering because to do so would mean the sacred bm cow might sustain a dent. it is easier and more acceptable to denigrate bw and pretend those infected are all intravenous drug users or hiv/aids incubators that contract the virus immaculately.
black folks DO need to do something to help other black folks. despite many opportunities paid for by our ancestors blood equity, few american blacks are seizing these opportunities. blacks from other places aren't having this lapse in good judgment and sound practice. when bm are in charge, black WOMEN (i noticed, folks couldn't bring themselves to call bw WOMEN! ALL species have male and female. we are human folks.) and children (both genders) DO suffer immensely. the ONLY thing preventing congo in america is the white man's law enforcement. now WHY would folks pretend otherwise? the ONLY time folks get bent out of shape by what happens to bw and children is when they can antagonize the heck out of white men. if they can get paid while doing so that's even better. has al sharpton EVER had a job?!!!! so yes, WHEN folks get UNupset by others not caring more for the nonstop violence against bw and girls than black folks do, the so called black community WILL sacrifice the women/girls to protect the men/boys. BACKWARDS self defeating behavior that is nothing short of consistent. and if the missing girls "father" don't go somewhere and shut it up. he and Mitrice Richardson's dad had a LOT in common. so did JBRamsey's and Holloway's. two were MIA and two were not. lol. surely someone else noticed that as they were throwing out those examples?
there are middle class and above bfolks. i am not one to pretend otherwise. they are NOT a large segment of the so called black community as uts and crew try to delude themselves and others into believing. trying to derail the concerned convos about the areas of much needed improvement by pretending there is more or equal "success" as there is suffering is just annoying at this point.
ReplyDeleteyes, there are black professionals; lawyers, pilots and doctors. FN, you are good for grabbing Maria's links and running with them. care to take a stab at the philly story link she provided last post? lol. probably not, unless there are pictures of the victims of the malpractice and they are bw. then the story can be about how dare those women choose to have an abortion?! dr. homeboy, quit his ob/gyn residency and took up abortions W/O credentials. but hey, as long as he gets his, right? do for self has a whole new meaning. i read his practice made him a millionaire, which according to quite a few black folks' twisted standards, makes him a "success". who cares how he got there? similar to the admiration/fascination/glorification of drug dealing misogynists-jay z anyone among others?
folks need to do research on people they allow in trusted positions. that's my take away from the horrificness of it all...i already knew quite a few bm could not care less about women and children. i will never forget a convo on this blog on the topic. the babies are solely the responsibility of the women was the general consensus of the participating menfolk. those women not using wisdom or adequate protection will be desperately trying to eliminate/terminate the responsibilities that they are expected to shoulder solo, despite not impregnating themselves. i don't know these women's stories, i am just saying in general. hiv/aids stats are pretty horrific for bw and girls. so are the rape/sexual violence ones as well, so i do keep this in mind always when folks talk about bw and abortion. most rapes/molestation are not even reported so the horrific numbers don't even give you the whole picture. i don't know anything for sure, but that my heart hurts after reading of this philly madness earlier today.
uts, i LOL @ your jew backpedal. LOL. notice some of your best friends were jewish, too. lol. but ya'll try to get mad when wm and other folks go there when they need to backpedal from their brazen statements. LOL. you wouldn't want folks to wander over here with your identity and place of employment on full blast a couple of posts back with those types of sentiments hanging out there, huh? bet that boss is jewish. lol. ok. done. LOL.
my comments were in reference to the previous post.
ReplyDeletei read about MReagan's comments today and LOL. ummm, he KNOWS his statements make him racist, right? wm don't get to make observations that don't depict black or black-ish men as anything other than smashing human beings. bw either for that matter. LOL.
the bleached out guy hurts my stomach. sosa is back at it, too. i must concede the whole it is the same as white folks tanning bit was quite creative. LOL. maybe there will also be the whole dangerous to one's health factor to consider? he looks as appealing as orange white folks. lol.
i suppose figuring out a way to inject those that desire uh porcelain skin, lol, with vitiligo could work? now someone could REALLY clean up if they could come up with THAT injection! as for me, i will be holding onto my melanin.
i would address the whole healthcare debacle, but there really is no point. if obamessiah personally choked americans, there would STILL be black folks swearing those that fought and gasped for air were racist. lol.
to the guy attempting to check AB, maybe you could take your patriotic respectful flow on over to the MANY outlets that refuse to afford flotus even a modicum of respect? there's a thought...MReagan didn't say obamessiah was not a bill passing fiend. he said black folks fared better under his dad's administration. and if obamessiah gets to be black then so can RR. this is america dang it and they both have white mothers, so what's the problem? ok, let me stop. lol. the last two statements were jokes...sortta.
ReplyDeleteWhat planet do you live on? Most Americans are now bankrupt from medical expenses? We have crappier healthcare than many third world countries?
Let me site some facts:
First, we have really crappy, really expensive healthcare. That's not my opinion, that's the analysis of the World Health Organization.
Second, its a known fact that healthcare cost is the leading cause of bankruptcy. Again, that lefty rag, Business Week, sited this fact.
Again, I've got reality on my side, what do you have.
Continue to blather - as the facts are plain and available to anyone with a brain and access to Google.
We have the best healthcare system in the world, bar none, let alone any third world country. Anyone who believes the contrary is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThe WHO is part of the anti-American UN, and rates healthcare not on actual efficacy but on made up criteria such as "fairness of the mechanism health system fianance" to which they can assign a completely subjective grade. It's a joke, and so is your pompous, know-nothing ass. You obviously have no real life experience to base your opinions on, and must rely on your daily talking points email from the Huffpost to formulate your opinions.
Obamacare is both completely unsustainable financially and unsupportable contitutionally, but reality apparently doesn't factor into your need to mouth opinions on topics you know absolutely nothing about. Get out there and work a job, make a house payment, and support a family and then see what you think.
Focused purpose don't try it, I have defended anyone on this thread and anywhere else that has been wronged.
ReplyDeleteI called you out long time ago when the racists were running rampant with their weak arguments.
But unlike AB who takes on the racist, along with folks she disagrees with on other issues, you never showed up to defend the race.
Instead you come on with some long winded irrelevancies that have little basis in fact, but feed racist ideology. We actually do have some similarities with folks in the Congo because we like them allow material comfort to come between us.
And to say that white folks are needed to keep order is just silly. As I say to the racists who pretend that there is no such thing as a cause without an effect, the way black inner city and ghettoized folks act is historically consistent with the way that all groups who have been ghettoized and oppressed act.
And I said and I will say again that you are keen on attacking black men and black problems that we didn't create, but when the real enemy shows up all we get is crickets from you.
No thats not totally true you come onto the thread with some badly thought out words that are barely cohesive.
And AB can tell you that I have indeed defended when she has been unfairly picked on, but you know as well as I do that AB gives as well as she gets. So she seldom needs defending.
And exposing people to history is a way to help them understand why the government does everything in its power to keep the races apart. Its profitable! I don't post to embarass anyone- don't be ridiculous. The point is to get them to open their eyes to the fact that black oppression didn't end at slavery and that white workers caught much hell, because they aren't rich but workers.
And for the record I bring attention and have fought for all of my people including black women. I have people including sisters who can vouch for my work and my efforts.
What about you what have you actually done?
To the Good Reverend - again, continue to believe your own bull.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I already have 'a real job' thank you very much. I actually make 3 times the rate of national median income. I also have a bachelors in physics. I make my living leading complex projects in healthcare that you probably couldn't grasp I bothered to explain them to you. Not bad, for a "pompous, know-nothing ass".
"We have the best healthcare system in the world, bar none, let alone any third world country. Anyone who believes the contrary is an idiot."
ReplyDeleteYes. We have the best healthcare system in the world. If you can afford it.
Even those who can afford it opt to receive certain procedures elsewhere to avoid the high costs and waiting lists.
For those who don't have the money, our healthcare system begins to resemble a lot of third-world countries.
"Get out there and work a job, make a house payment, and support a family and then see what you think."
And what if you lost your job, had your house foreclosed on and are on the bleeding edge of not being able to support your family? Then what?
"And I said and I will say again that you are keen on attacking black men and black problems that we didn't create, but when the real enemy shows up all we get is crickets from you."
ReplyDeleteFP, I'm surprised you and LAA won't even take a run at guys like no_slappz and Rev. Right when they come around with their bullshit. I guess that's not part of the narrative.
AB's a bit...eccentric...at times, IMHO. I've learned to deal with that and take a bit of good from some of her posts. It's a bit odd to see you suddenly come to her rescue, especially when she can mop the floor with anyone who gives her grief. Hell, you don't even do any of that for Granny whenever she decides to stop by.
And I still don't quite understand the whole Maria dogpile thing you and LAA got going on. And yeah, I know asking that will leave me open to attack, but fuck it.
LAC: " I make my living leading complex projects in healthcare that you probably couldn't grasp I bothered to explain them to you."
ReplyDeleteI'm all ears, Einstein.
AB you got Field there but they Obama and the banksters have enriched capitalism.
ReplyDeleteThe best description of what Obama has really done was well written in an article a little while ago called How Obama saved capitalism and lost the midterms. Folks can google it.
Well, good Reverend, I'm no Einstein, however I will take a stab at explaining what I do. I'm a PACS Administrator (or now an Imaging Informatics Professional). I design and support PACS and RIS systems in hospital. For the uninitiated, a Picture Archive and Communications Systems (PACS) is a fancy name for a giant media archiving and management system for radiology. In short, I make sure grandma's mammogram doesn't get mixed up with the X-ray of a Latin King's gunshot wound to the thigh.
ReplyDeleteI design workflows, implement and support the software systems for hospitals. To do what I do, you have to have a rather broad knowledge of IT (databases, networking, storage, operating systems, security patching, embedded systems) as well as peculiar stuff that you would only use in a hospital (HL7, DICOM, LOINC, CPT). To move up, you have to learn how to write lots of technical reports (you wouldn't believe how much money is spent based upon my reports). I also have to have a fair knowledge of physics and electronics, as its often up to the PACS administrator left to hook up the new MRI scanner some radiology department just bought.
OK, that was brief summary, and I actually simplified for you. Want to go deeper?
Anyone have any updates on the case of Tiana Drummond-Phiri? This just fell right the fuck off of the media table. So far, I've only heard she was going to appeal the conviction, but I haven't heard of anything beyond that.
ReplyDelete@ LACoincidental;
ReplyDeleteNo, that's a cool job. My brother is a systems analyst for a telecommuncations, so I have a sense of what you are talking about. I also have a degree in Biomedical Engineering. The fact that you get to work with the hardware side probably makes it more interesting. You are in a good spot with the initiative to integrate medical record information systems.
Now get yourself a woman, start a family, and live a full life.
now, the little ww on this blog that reserves the right to talk out the side of her neck most days gets shut down on the regular, if AB and LA don't shut her down first. LOL. women regulate the behavior of OTHER WOMEN not men. black women will enjoy theif lives and the blessings of femininity as soon as more get in their lane and focus on handling womanfolk business. holding ourselves as women accountable to higher standards in addition to the men we choose to allow in our lives is plenty for any one woman's agenda. doing menfolk work is NOT the business and i stand guilty of not even attempting it at this point. i am NOT sorry and thank you kindly for noticing. may more bw get some. folks don't appreciate what they are allowed to take for granted. bm EXPECT bw to fight harder for them than they will. i am, without mincing words, suggesting we redirect our energies to fighting for and protecting our own best interests. yep, not sorry still, just sane and in order with the first law of nature.
ReplyDeletebe clear, i will back up and support those that back up and support me. that is reciprocity. justice. fair. right. my comment merely suggested to AB, as my fellow kindred spirit, that she do the same- for her sake as a bw.
ps Mr.Mell, notice while you go in search of that post with you standing up for AB how the same spineless mutes that watch AB sustain verbal assault, can only get in touch with their protector status when it is time to take up for the out of order, initiate the drama ww. LOL. i find it hilariously inexcusable and i reserve the right to call it.
hey ML-
i have addressed NS in other places and have learned it is a lost cause. ESPECIALLY when he is flagrantly showing his hind parts on a bm's blog and getting real brazen with it. frankly, the fact that the menfolk haven't attempted to regulate without emotional hysterics bodes poorly for bm. in another place when i stood to address, the bm host opted to placate him-save him if you will from the angry bw, as least that it how i read the "educator" comments. lol. i got right on back in the woman lane and am consistently releasing the indoctrination that would have me out of it.
when you consider that when another man dares to diss you and your womenfolk it is really menfolk business. somehow, when folks diss bw, bm don't really take that as an offense against their manhood, unless the offender is nonblk. time for ya'll to man up. maybe if ya'll would stop hiding from all those inconvenient truths ns keeps whipping out on your behinds...as i said, even racists will tell the truth sometimes. when he doesn't and it impacts my interests directly as a bw, trust, no one will need to call on me to speak. until that time, ya'll are big scrong mens and can handle ns. lol. as for Reverend Right, i don't particularly see what folks are taking issue with exactly. it was a man up slap on the head when he suggested that if someone worked and had a FAMILY that they actually were the breadwinner for...now see, WHY are folks expecting me to do anything but laugh? i have already broke it down too many time in my offline life to bm when i thought they just didn't get it. i realized folks are selectively getting what they want to get. what they don't want to get they aren't. clues are harder to miss.
that whole race war was between the menfolk. the women of the winning men were elevated and the women of the losing men were and still are denigrated...daily. seems to me, folks need to stop reveling in wins of yesteryear, pull their pants up and get busy as men...TODAY. did that help? probably not. you're the one that sees Maria's flagrant offensive fouls and in your little mind SHE is being victimized and in need of protection. LOL. God help the children and fools...
"bm EXPECT bw to fight harder for them than they will."
ReplyDeleteI don't. Sorry you think this way.
ML-
ReplyDeletei stand up for those that stand up for me. period. if they happen to make sound points in the process that is even better.
Reverend Right, now you need to be clear when you instruct folks to go get them a woman, start a family and lead a full life. it is imperative, lest it gets somehow twisted, to specify that this woman should be wife first...just saying...there seems to be a LOT of confusion about that little nugget on both sides among quite a few black folks. maybe after that, you can share what you know about the transfer of wealth and through which gender it is transferred? lol. that's if you are feeling generous, though i think you have been pegged a racist or the "enemy" because of your differing views. that's ok. i am supposed to be fat, bitter, lonely, a lesbian, manless, and the list goes on. lol. shrug.
2:40am Anon, i am happy to hear you don't think this way. there are many that do expect, as evidenced by their consistent sustained BEHAVIOR for bw to fight harder for them than they will fight for themselves as men. bw have been selected as the footsoldiers in a man's war/fight. i, too, am sorry to see the day when it would be for me to lie to call it anything else. it is what it is and this is a patriarch. both genders have gender capital. more bw just need to stop squandering theirs.
interesting to note that folks think AB is somehow not quite a woman since she will stand up for herself. as if somehow when folks go on attack they don't need to make a peep. AB, see? lol. now aren't these men also able to stand up for themselves? i look forward to your thoughts sis.
Mr. Mell-
ReplyDeleteyou seem to be stuck on who started the problem. i am not. quite frankly from what i can see, greed, selfishness, and a refusal to look at the big picture by both black and wm were contributing factors as it relates to black and white. neither side is innocent. rarely in ANY problem are there innocents, unless there are small children involved. there are always members of the oppressed that participate in the oppression of their people. as quiet as it is kept, not all misogynists are men. but that's a whole other oprah.
Dr. Wright used his education to help his people. maybe you could get familiar with his work? i understand what i see. we disconnect because i am also able to address the behavior that continues to this day to PERPETUATE the problem.
right now, in areas where the police respond slowly if at all, there are bw and children living in hell on earth, congoish conditions. which is why the only all black everything one can find me doing are outfits. i am REAL clear on the fact of where i am least safe as a bw. i am also not the least bit concerned when others don't want bfolks that behave like they embrace substandard mindsets among them. i get it.
IF there was the tiniest inkling that this misbehavior would be tolerated in other areas it would spread out. the lack of tolerance is why it stays contained in certain areas. just as the fire and destruction remains contained when bfolks want to "protest" law enforcement making it real clear criminal behavior will not be tolerated. you KNOW this, man. be as brand new as you need to be to save face. we don't agree that bm must be made to look and feel good at the expense of the women and children. my complicity and cooperation is NOT forthcoming and i could not care less who takes offense.
for the record, you are just as long winded and more frequent in your long windedness. pot meet kettle. the fact that your longwindedness is based on the golden rule premise is beyond annoying. especially when bm treat each other with greater disdain, contempt and violence than they can EVER pretend others visit on them today. frankly, if the providers and protectors choose to murder, maim, rape, rob, destroy, and abandon their own communities WHY would anyone REALLY expect other men to risk their lives to fix it? other men have their own lives, women and children with which to be concerned. why does this notion seem so hard to grasp for the it's not my fault crew?
my calling it what it is is "irrelevant" to you. it is crucial to me. IF i were a black man, it would be just as crucial. i feel confident in this knowledge. see, i get what escapes you obviously. men are judged and considered men by the condition of their women and children. most understand that the sum is greater than the parts. bm have no control over capitalism. bm can exercise control over themselves. they can provide for and protect their women and children. heck, maybe if bm in greater numbers, would change their foul attitudes about education and capitalism in greater numbers and create their own jobs by providing for the needs of their communities...
i understand the isms and the importance of division in the bigger picture. i also understand that charity begins at home. if your house if filthy standing in ruins, expect the fool treatment when you go over to your neighbors demanding he cleans up his house. or worst of all, expecting him to allow you to get real comfortable on his sofa, eating food he provides, using utilities he works to keep on, while complaining and trying to make him feel guilty that he won't allow you to take over his whole house so that it resembles yours. lol.
okey doke, gotta go. back to the swamps. the plantation makes this maroon tired. if this dang comments gets erased again, i will consider it not meant to be...
mack u actually think that incompetent and ugly sow mops people up when they attack her? nucka u is craaaazy! that type of beat down can only occur when the person doin the beat down has sense and buceta breaf stank nasty carpet lickin banks has no sense and apparently neither do you
ReplyDeleteif u think an almost fifty year old unemployed egotistical maniac 'mops' people up then u might be similarly deluded
too bad eye thought u had some sense mack

ReplyDeleteSecond, its a known fact that healthcare cost is the leading cause of bankruptcy. Again, that lefty rag, Business Week, sited this fact.
Okay, Einstein, consider this. If healthcare costs are the leading cause of individual bankruptcies, then the collective healthcare bill for the nation will become the force that leads to a national bankrutpcy.
Healthcare costs are high because we are brilliant at developing and exploiting new processes, procedures and technologies.
But healthcare is the opposite of manufacturing -- there are no "Economices of Scale" in medicine. Hence, we will NEVER reduce our healthcare costs as long as we follow the path we are on.
The problem is not fraud. It is not insurance companies or high-paid healthcare execs. We are the victims of our own technical success.

Appallingly, “State of the Dream” mostly limits culpability to the GOP for attacks on Social Security and other entitlements. “Republican opposition to these programs,” says the report, “pushes people of color who are struggling — and other low-wealth households — further down the economic ladder.” Yet it was Barack Obama who kept the assault on Social Security alive and active after the Republicans, the minority in Congress, were evicted from the White House. Less than two weeks before taking the oath of office, Obama definitively put Social Security “on the table” for butchering, and kept it there for two years while Republicans were out in the cold, ultimately appointing a deficit reduction commission that set the template for the austerity regime that “State of the Dream” bemoans. Barack Obama is the man most responsible for resurrecting the campaign against Social Security that progressives thought had been soundly defeated during George Bush’s first term.

Within days, the House of Representatives will vote to pass the Senate health-care "reform" bill. This bill is a joke. It has NOTHING to do with "health-care reform." It has EVERYTHING to do with lining the pockets of the health insurance industry. It forces, by law, every American who isn't old or destitute to buy health insurance if their boss doesn't provide it. What company wouldn't love the government forcing the public to buy that company's product?! Imagine a bill that ordered every citizen to buy the extended warranty on all their appliances? Imagine a law that made it illegal not to own an iPhone? Or how 'bout I get a law passed that makes it compulsory for every American to go see my next movie? Woo-hoo! Who wouldn't love a sweet set-up like this windfall?
And how big will the fines be if the insurance companies do deny someone coverage for having a pre-existing condition? Are you sitting down? A hundred dollars a day! That's it! So if you're the insurance company, and Judy is a customer of yours, and Judy needs an operation that will cost $100,000, what do you do? You take the fine! Let's say Judy lives another year after you've sentenced her to death, your $100-a-day fine will only cost you $36,500! That's a savings of $63,500! And trust me, my friends, that's EXACTLY what's going to happen.
But don't insult me and 300 million Americans by calling this "health-care reform." At least you've stopped calling it "universal health care." We will not have universal health care or anything close to it. I wish the president and the Democratic leadership would just stand up and say, "We're sorry, America. We didn't get the job done you sent us here to do. We're weak and scared and unable to communicate the simplest of messages to the American people. Therefore, our bill will guarantee that 12 million of you will still have NO health insurance. And that's because we have decided to leave the greedy, private insurance industry in charge of our system. Forgive us for this and for continuing to allow profit to be the determining factor as to whether a patient gets the help she or he needs."

ReplyDeleteConversely, what could we expect of the Obama administration in reaction to a challenge to its policies from a hypothetical Dr. Martin Luther King? Is it likely that the administration that recently announced psychologists, psychiatrists and sociologists will be deployed throughout the federal bureaucracy to ferret out potential whistleblowers would treat Dr. King any differently than it has treated Julian Assange? Is it even plausible that the administration that has taken a conscientious whistleblower who allegedly leaked classified evidence of American atrocities in Iraq and subjected him to likely personality-destroying solitary confinement for seven months would have treated a Southern Christian Leadership Conference founder any less tyrannically? Can any of those memorializing Dr. King today seriously believe that Martin would have said of the blatant criminality of the preceding government that it was time to move forward without bringing the guilty to justice? Or what would Dr. King say about a government that delays justice for decades for Black farmers and then refuses to fire a single discriminator under the pretext that it is time to move on. And finally what would King say about a president that received 99.9% of the black vote but has now invited into his inner chambers two former heads of agencies that were notorious for their mistreatment treatment of African-Americans, the EPA under Carol Browner and the Department of Commerce under William Daley. In fact, before Daley, a J. P. Morgan executive could accept this new appointment he had the unenviable task
Rather it is far more likely that an 82 year old Martin Luther King would have approached the Nobel committee with much sadness and little fanfare when he returned his Peace Prize because he could no longer in good conscience subscribe to the broadening definitions of peace and peacemakers that the current President's acceptance speech endorsed. This President prefers instead to mimic the style of the great peacemaker while ignoring the demands of King's principles. In the process of remembering our peacemakers, particularly today, the President needs to make a choice between style and substance

not true. "obamacare" expands medicaid and provides subsidies for people to get insurance, provided millions to community health centers.
if your insurance went up it was due to other factors LIKE insurance companies raising their rates before they have to meet the 85% medical loss ratio and be subject to greater scrutiny in the future.

Makes sense, considering the fact Obama’s health care “reform” was crafted at the behest of large insurance corporations. “This is a very good bill for insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies,” said Rep. Stephen Lynch, a Democrat, on Thursday. “The insurers still rule,” Lynch added. “Were just pumping subsidies into the current system, but that won’t drive down costs.”
In December, Howard Dean, the former Democratic National Committee Chairman, said the legislation before Congress “is a bigger bailout for the insurance industry than AIG.” Dean characterized it as “an insurance company’s dream.”
Before boarding Air Force One earlier in the week, one-time maverick congressman Dennis Kucinich characterized the bill as “a bailout for insurance companies.” Prior to subjecting himself to Obama’s voodoo — or threats, nobody knows really — Kucinich said Obamacare was designed for Wall Street banksters.

ReplyDeleteSorry to keep you waiting. See if you can bear to listen to this quick explanantion from Representative Ryan that aired on C-Span yesterday reagarding the unsustainibility and economic effects of Obamacare.
As regards the constitutionality of Obamacare, you went to law school, where in the constitution does it permit the government to mandate citizens purchase a specific product? If you believe it to be the commerce clause, then what couldn't fall under a government mandate for the purposes of "interstate commerce"? Does the commerce clause then supersede all other limitations on federal power spelled out in the constitution? 26 states have now joined the lawsuit questioning the constitutionlity of this law, are a majority of the states crazy?
ReplyDeleteObamacare, like many liberal initiatives, is wrapped around a kernel of a good premise: that everyone should have access to health insurance. However, like most liberal initiatives, it simply ignores the fact that 1) The federal government has no authority to expropriate large segments of the economy; and 2) The secondary effects of this bill will both make healthcare worse for almost everyone and permanently cripple the economy.
Republicans understand people want some sort of healthcare reform that doesn't leave those in need behind. The Democrats completely shut out the Republicans and rammed through an unworkable solution. The Republican leadership understands that any major initiative has to have bipartisan support and any new program will have to built on true consensus.
The fact is this bill will die in the Senate. But the voters still run this country, and the same thing that happened to the House in 2010 will happen to the Senate in 2012. Obama my yet hang on to a second term simply because he is so likeable personally, and because the Republicans have no truly great candidates that have yet arisen, but if he does, and Harry Reid refuses to work with the House, he wil have to work with huge Republican majorities in both houses.

In the end, it may be worse than Conyers fears, because the second part of Obama's healthcare strategy was to start off the discussion by announcing his intention to make big cuts – trillions of dollars worth - inMedicare and Medicaid. Amazingly, he gave the Republicans what they've been clamoring for for generations, upfront! Now the White House is engaged in an assault on the main public healthcare plan in existence, while as yet there is nothing to replace it.In his rush to mollify the private healthcare profiteers, Obama has given away the pubic store.
Obama continues to insist that he will hold out for some kind of public healthcare plan. In the end, it will likely be quite modest, a scheme that will only wind up extending coverage to a portion of the 45-plus million currently uninsured. Most of the rest of the public will remain with the private insurers. Single payer, whose time had come, will have been buried for at least the remainder of Obama's term in office. But the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid will take their course through the Congress, with Obama's blessing. Like Congressman Conyers said, we'll wind up with “some sad version of the same crap” that we started out with. Or maybe worse

This and medicaid is the HOAX of Obama accounting. Really, read up. How do you take a 500M dollar liability from one group Senior Citizens) move it to others, when it wasnt funded to begin with? Sounds like a Trillion dollar hoax.
Also, the main premise of Obamacare was mandating that everyone buy in to pay for the fake numbers. Funny, close to 200 waivers already given out before it starts. Meaning, friends of Obama - Big Corps, Unions etc will not have to pay and it wont be funded. Meaning, more and more doctors drop out, meaning have you ever renewed your license? Gone to court, done anything with government services? Get in line, take a number and that treatement wont be funded so you can't have it.
IN fact they slipped early on and started telling women they didnt need mammograms until after 50 to save money. Now, breast feeding is encouraged, to save money. Next?

Saying his bill will reduce costs doesn't make it true. Take the legislation's huge $500 billion cuts in Medicare. The government already reimburses hospitals and doctors less than their costs. Further cuts mean even more cost shifting to privately insured patients to cover deeper Medicare losses. Private insurance won't cover all of these exorbitant losses, which will force many doctors and hospitals out of business.
ReplyDeleteThis week, the New England Journal of Medicine released a survey of doctors showing that 46.3 percent of "primary care physicians (family medicine and internal medicine) feel that the passing of health reform will either force them out of medicine or make them want to leave medicine." Not only will doctors leave medicine, but "27 percent [of physicians] would recommend medicine as a career but not if health reform passes." The survey is merely suggestive, but if the real reduction in the number of doctors is even 5 percent
Even the few purported cost-reducing measures in the Senate bill are being gutted by the president's proposal. The reconciliation bill delays a tax on high-quality insurance, dubbed Cadillac plans. The idea was if the cost of insurance was raised, fewer people would want such extensive medical coverage and thus would not seek medical care as often. Reduced demand therefore would reduce the price of medical care. But after striking a deal with unions, Mr. Obama decided to delay the tax for eight years, until he's out of office.
The Democrats' plan will destroy American health care. Obamacare will dramatically raise the cost of medical care, forcing many Americans to drop their insurance. Responsible members of Congress have to vote this down.

Planned is death by a thousand cuts - aka "creeping normalcy," defined as a way to make major changes seem normal if happen slowly, incrementally like boiling a frog unaware it's dinner until cooked.
ReplyDeleteSocial Security and Medicare are dinner. Yet both are insurance, not welfare, programs funded by (worker-employer) payroll tax deductions. They're contractual federal obligations to eligible recipients who qualify. You'd never know it the way both programs are publicly discussed, explaining everything but the truth. More on that below.
On August 14, 1935, the Social Security Act became law, known as the federal Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance program (OASDI). It provides retirement, disability, survivorship, and death benefits. It's still America's most effective poverty reduction program that's worked remarkably well since inception. It exists to provide secure inflation-adjusted retirement or disability income, unlike risking personal savings to create private wealth that may end up losing it.
Despite bogus claims, it's not going bankrupt. When properly administered, it's sound and secure, needing only modest adjustments at times to assure it.
http://www.rense.com/general92/chop.htm
With a black president leading the charge to eviscerate Medicare, Medicaid and social security in the name of “deficit reduction,” what is there left of black politics? What is the relevance of so-called black leaders in the Democratic party, and the remains of our historic civil rights organizations?
ReplyDeleteThe masters of corporate media proclaim that their raid on social security, is a done deal. “Entitlements,” their code word for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, will be cut in the lame duck session of Congress, with Democratic president Barack Obama taking the lead. Though the outlines of this raid have been clear for months, what passes for black America's political leadership class have been silent. As far as we know, they have not been ordered to shut up. They have silenced themselves, in abject deference to the corporate black Democrat in the White House.
It took a Republican Richard Nixon to open relations with China in the seventies. It took Democrat Bill Clinton to impose draconian cuts in welfare and end college courses for prisoners in the nineties. And today, only a black Democratic president can sufficiently disarm Democrats, only a black Democrat can demobilize the black polity completely enough for the raid on “entitlements” to be successful
In the real world, very few elders, and percentage-wise, even fewer black elders will be able to lead anything like a dignified life off retirement savings and 401K plans. If real black leadership existed right now, it would stand up for lowering, not raising the retirement age. Besides obligating millions who are physically unable to seek or sustain employment far into their seventh decade, raising the retirement age will add millions of unemployed elders to the work force, where they will compete with their own children and grandchildren for scarce employment opportunities. If black America had a real voice you'd hear it on the radio and TV explaining that lowering the retirement age would open up millions of jobs for deserving younger workers. You'd read in black newspapers and magazines that a modest rise in benefits would encourage more people to retire, and that those benefits would be immediately spent to fire up the economy, unlike the hundreds of billions in “quantitative easing” doled out to banksters who aim to use it to buy up foreign assets

medicare will be axed nationwide to pay for hobamacare u fool!
The state government agency that runs the Medicaid health insurance program for low-income people announced $112.8 million in cuts that were described Wednesday as "devastating" to the state safety net.
The cuts will end subsidized health insurance coverage for about 27,000 in the state’s Apple Health for Kids program and end out-patient pharmacy benefits for thousands of Medicaid patients – both in March. Other cuts in January will eliminate a host of services including dental, vision, hearing and hospice care for thousands of Medicaid patients.
“I would characterize these cuts as devastating and radically altering the face of the medical programs we have created over the last 20 years,” said Doug Porter, state Medicaid director.
“What you see and what I hope your readers understand is these don’t represent choices. There was really only one choice to make and that was whether to stay in the Medicaid program.”
The cuts are in response to Gov. Chris Gregoire’s order for 6.3 percent across-the-board cuts that spare only pensions, basic education, and state debt payments. The Medicaid cuts are in addition to reductions the Department of Social and Health Services announced totaling $168 million.

Now, if you're saying we should simply shoot for a single payer system, I would say 'OK' (though single payer alone won't solve our health care crisis).
But that's not what the GOP is talking about -- they want to abolish HCR altogether and replace it with -- nothing. No definite plan, no real objective. Just dismantle for the sake of flipping the bird at Obama.
Again, the typical 'Tea Party Left' engage in scorched earth policy -- if Obama doesn't do things my way, then he's a failure. But, I'm not going to engage you any further , because no matter how much evidence I provide you with, you're going to continue to rant and rave that "Obama is a Bankster Nazi".
@Steve - yeah, I could name about 10 things that Ronald Wilson Reagan screwed over Black people and working people. Almost every bad idea, major problem or bad policy we have now can be traced back to him. Middle East terrorists? Reagan supplied most of the guns and ammo they use. Crack? Reagan funded the Nicaragua Contras, major coke traffickers. Deregulation of banks? SNL. Deficits? Spending on weapons we don't need while cutting tax revenues to nothing. We're still paying for them. Bad schools and burned out ghettos? Reagan slashed social services and placed right wingers as heads HUD, the DOE and other industries. AIDS? Reagan refused to say the word, let alone fund prevention.
Every other President has either accelerated his nonsense or made paltry attempts to clean up his mess.

ReplyDeleteWow, what an assemblage of easily disprovable leftist myths! (See: Google). Reagan actually won the cold war, reinvogorated the economy, slowed communist expansion in Latin America, scammed terrorists, and started modest entitlement reforms.
Reagan's trickle down economics resulted in a tide that raised all boats.
Obama's trickle down poverty is going leave us stuck in the mud.

ReplyDeleteOh horse$hit.
The Soviet Union crumbled under it's own bloatedness, ineffectiveness and lack of productivity.
If anyone sparked the anti-communist activism of the people in the Soviet bloc it was Pope John Paul II and Lech Walesa.
"reinvogorated the economy,"
puh-leeze. Reagan's policies were the ones that started this massive deficit, the shrinking of the middle class and the distance between very rich and those in poverty.
And remember, pseudo-tough guy Reagan did absolutely NOTHING when our Embassy in Lebanon was bombed by terrorists in 1983 and over 300 Americans were killed.
slowed communist expansion in Latin America, scammed terrorists, and started modest entitlement reforms.
Reagan's trickle down economics resulted in a tide that raised all boats.
Roland - hate to break this to you, but everything I stated is known fact. Reagan ballooned the deficit on defense spending and tax cuts, while slashing social services. He put anti-public education types like Bill Buckley as Education Secretary. He put a major uncle Tom like Clarence Thomas in the EEO office. Real wages stagnated or dropped for working people under his Presidency. And Reagan even admitted that he knew that the Contras were 'probably smuggling drugs'. He may have stopped communism (in reality, other things toppled the Soviet Union, Reagan played a much smaller role than his predecessors), but he also propped up bloodthirsty dictators who oppressed their people for years.
ReplyDeleteI'm living in reality. Reagan's horrible technology and military policies was one of the last engineering policy papers I wrote in college, back in 2000, when Google was a mere geek toy. I understand Liberalism is a mental disorder, but surely you can understand math?
Highlights from Paul Ryan's presentation:
The CBO says Obamacare will increase our debt!!. In fact it will do so by 2.6 TRILLION dollars. This is once you get past the initial look obama provided the CBO with 10 years of taxes vs 6 years of benefit payout. Along with a bunch of other funky accounting that falsely said it would lower the deficit, while it raise the debt!!
Specifics
- 70 Billion in Class app premiums were double counted (not counting the over 200 waivers Obama granted)
- 53 Billion in SS taxes were double counted
-115 Billion for hiring people to manage this nightmare were not counted at all.
-398 Medicare CUTS (taking from one part of the program moving to another) was double counted
-208 Billion required for the DR FIX (money they owe Doctors for medicare) was not counted at all.
Now if you think 2.6 Trillion in additional spending actually lowers the deficit by 140 or so Billion. I have a nice hut on your fantasy Island I want to sell you.
Have you really reviewed the numbers? It's availible on white house.gov or are you just listening to other liberal loonies?

A 53 percent Black majority think that the economy is starting to recover. Only 40 percent of whites hold that opinion. Yet, for the average Black or white working class person with a mortgage to pay, the situation is as bad as ever – and for Black people, that means roughly twice as bad. The Pew poll shows that 35 percent of Blacks report their homes are worth less than their mortgages, compared to just 18 percent for white people. Fifty-four percent of Blacks took a pay cut, worked reduced hours or were forced to take unpaid leave during the Great Recession. Only 37 percent of whites suffered such employment trauma, yet Blacks are consistently – and insanely – more optimistic about the future, and feel better about the present, than whites do. Nearly a third of Blacks say they are in better shape than before the recession began – a figure with no basis whatsoever in real life, and a perception that is at total war with reality. Everything is worse for every major Black demographic since December 2007. There is nothing to be upbeat about – except, for Obama supporters, the election 0f 2008. From that point on, a large segment of Black America became disconnected from reality, numb to their own pain and to the pain of their children. They have been singing zippidity-doo-dah while all around them Black America is in economic free-fall. These deluded Black folks have been rendered incompetent and politically useless to themselves and their families by the mere existence of a Black president. Obama's election was, besides the Great Recession itself, the worse thing that has happened to Black people in a long time

Back in January 2008, while meeting with the editorial board of the Reno Gazette-Journal before the Democratic Nevada caucuses, Barack Obama offered some approving commentary on the legacy and influence of the 40th President. Ronald Reagan, he said, "changed the trajectory of America in a way that, you know, Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not." Not surprisingly, Obama's remark riled both Hillary Clinton and her husband, who viewed it as demeaning to the achievements of the Clinton Administration as well as a cheap tactic to win favor with some of the Silver State's more conservative Democrats.
(See pictures of people around the world watching Obama's Inauguration.)
In reality, Obama (and, for that matter, the Clintons) has a long history of paying public homage to the leadership and political skills of Reagan, even while disagreeing with his policies.

Alicia - uh, yeah. My point isn't that Obama = Jesus. On more salient points, we probably agree more than we disagree. But overall, you believe in political "burn the village to save it" liberalism, and I don't.
My point was that Ronald Reagan isn't even worth being called Judas Iscariot. You want to know what Reagan was doing when Medicare was implemented? Reagan, whose family would have died in the Great Depression without Social Services, made right wing ad campaigns that equated Medicare to the USSR. So Reagan as a wealthy actor/pitchman, whose only life was saved by the New Deal, saw no problem in letting the elderly and the disabled died of illness.
hobama is a blackish raygun lover!!!
ReplyDeleteBarack Obama just loves Ronald Reagan, the late president but still idolized leader of the American right wing. During his campaign for the presidency Obama famously said that unlike Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton didn't transform the country in a fundamental way. At the time he was in the thick of his primary battle against Hillary Clinton and the remark was perceived mainly as a dig against his opponent and her husband. When he later said that he would have a foreign policy like Ronald Reagan, it was seen as an attempt to get the votes of rural "Reagan Democrats" in the Pennsylvania primary. It is now clear that Obama's paeans to Reagan were not mere vote getting efforts or jabs at the Clintons. Barack Obama has proven himself to be a true believer in the Reagan revolution.
Ronald Reagan successfully dismantled government programs that no other president dared to touch. He was called the great communicator because of his ability to convince white Americans to act against their own economic interests. His apocryphal tales of black "welfare queens" led an already racist nation to decide that government was the problem in their lives when it is actually the only means of protection from larceny committed by wealthy individuals and big corporations.
Not only is Obama promising tax cuts for businesses, but he is repeating the Reagan mantra about "reforming" Social Security [5] and Medicare or cutting their rate of growth. Proposals to cut back on entitlements are dangerous and ought to be vehemently opposed. Entitlements are the only safety net that Americans have. Pension plans are available to an ever smaller group of workers, health benefits are lost when jobs are lost, and 401K accounts shrink along with the stock market.
Despite being ignorant about so much that effects their lives, Americans know that entitlements are their last hope for a decent life in old age. The only significant defeat for the Bush administration was the failure to privatize Social Security. It was the moment when Americans spoke up and forced Congress to prevent a Bush initiative from coming to fruition. If Barack Obama successfully tampers with Social Security and Medicare, which Bush was unable to do, then progressives who excuse Obama are worse than useless. They are traitors too.
"Reagan was called the great communicator because of his ability to convince white Americans to act against their own economic interests."
Obama is indeed a cynical politician who was willing to say or do anything that would get his hand on the bible on January 20th. Yet he is also a true believer in the system of white ruling class superiority and power. That is why he loves Reagan so much. Reagan was popular even as he ruined the country and much of the world. That is the Obama philosophy too. He wants to fool people into happily stabbing themselves in the back and he wants politicians to do what he says. He wants to be the second "great communicator" and he wants an armor of protective teflon. Sadly, he seems to be succeeding in reaching those goals and he hasn't even taken office yet
ab
hobama is a gonzo hoax who is channeling hsi hero raygun!!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course, Reagan also took the country further right in many ways but our political spectrum has moved so far to the right that he looks left behind by comparison. So, let's go to Obama and see what that "socialist" is up to.
Barack Obama:
•Escalated the Afghanistan War (Added 30,000 More Troops)
•Has Ordered Drone Strikes (Assassinations) on US Citizens Outside the Country
•Gave Drug Companies Near Monopoly Power by Barring Imports, Extending Patents and Not Allowing the Government to Negotiate Better Prices
•Funneled Billions into the Biggest Banks in the Country After They Crashed the Economy
•Stacked Deficit Commission with Fiscal Conservatives
•Lowered Taxes Significantly (Stimulus Bill)
•Ordered Increased Offshore Drilling Before BP Spill
The Obama team would argue that they did a lot of this because the Republicans made them do it. First, that's entirely untrue because the Republicans didn't make them pass any bills. The GOP also didn't give most of this legislation a single yes vote, so they could have been entirely ignored if Obama had the courage to do that. And many of the items on the list are executive actions, which the Republicans have no control over.

That joke is almost as old as AB's toe jam, but it still makes me chuckle.
When bills become mired in ideological conflict, as has happened to the health care bill, something usually passes nevertheless. The president, his PR team, and members of Congress want a health care bill on their resume and to be able to claim that they passed a health care bill, regardless of whether it provides any health care.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of adding public expenditures for health care to a budget drowning in red ink from wars, bank bailouts, and stimulus packages means that the most likely outcome of a health care bill will benefit insurance companies and use mandated private coverage to save public money by curtailing Medicare and Medicaid.
The public's interest is not considered to be the important determinant. The politicians have to please the insurance companies and reduce health care expenditures in order to save money for another decade or two of war in the Middle East.
The telltale part of Obama's speech was the applause in response to his pledge that "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits." Yet, Obama and his fellow politicians have no hesitation to add trillions of dollars to the deficit in order to fund wars.

ReplyDeleteOf necessity, these strategic goals require Obama to wage war against the left hemisphere of his own Party, the main obstacle, in the absence of effective grassroots progressive movements, to forging a grand coalition with Republicans. The president, whom deluded Progressives for Obama hallucinated might become the kind of “transformative” leader that would galvanize Left constituencies into a ready-mix, shake-and-bake “movement,” also sees himself as a transformative figure, but of the opposite kind. He presented his candidacy as the antidote to what he described during the Nevada presidential primary as the “excesses” of the Sixties and Seventies. His reverence for Ronald Reagan is genuine. Indeed, if Obama were not Black, and if his supporters had not been busy getting drunk in a wishing-well, he would have been widely recognized as a stylistically updated Reagan Democrat.
“His reverence for Ronald Reagan is genuine.”
As soon as Obama’s candidacy was pronounced “viable” by the high priests of corporate media he became a figure of historical significance, a walking, talking racial “breakthrough.” African Americans saw the possibility of a brand new day – and so did Obama, although his vision was much closer to that of those whites who have tired of – or, more likely, always resented – Black demands for redress of grievances, past and present. Anyone that listened to Obama’s actual words (rather than the voices in their own heads) would have quickly realized that he is ideologically opposed to all manifestations of independent Black politics, much less notions of Black self-determination. The Black Agenda Report team understood instantly, halfway through Obama’s coming-out speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, that the words “there is no Black America…there is only the United States of America” meant that Obama was the Anti-Black whose ascent would bring about the worst political crisis in Black America since at least the days of Booker T. Washington. It was equally clear that the Obamafication of Black politics would also neutralize white progressives, who have since the Sixties taken their cues from the dark side of town. Every element was in place for a general debacle in which leftish voters and activists, including virtually the whole of the Black progressive core, would loose their minds and become groupies for a guy who was already owned by Wall Street

medicaid is toast like hobama hope and change tees:
Medicaid enrollment increased by nearly 6 million people between the recession's start in December 2007 and the end of 2009, according to separate report by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured. Last December, there were 48.5 million enrolled in state Medicaid programs.
This jump in Medicaid enrollment and spending comes just as states are losing federal stimulus funds meant to help them shoulder the rising costs. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed in February 2009, provided $87 billion to states to pay for Medicaid costs through this December. Congress later allocated another $16 billion.
However, that federal money now dries up June 30, the end of fiscal 2010. And the loss will make it significantly harder for the states to close their budget gaps, already estimated at $121 billion.

“To promote job growth and help to restore the federal government to fiscal balance, we, the undersigned, feel that it would be beneficial to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” the economists said in a letter to Congress.
“Too many Americans remain unemployed and the United States faces a daunting budgetary outlook. We believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a threat to U.S. businesses and will place a crushing debt burden on future generations of Americans,” they wrote.

AB good info! You are dead on about the attack on entitlement programs it is the aim of the ruling class to take them too. And Obama's primary accomplishment has been to bail out the ruling class, the ruling rich and keep capitalism afloat.
ReplyDeleteFor some folks its hard to fathom because we have been so brainwashed to believe that the folks running things actually care but the truth is they don't. They only are concerned with the profit motive and squeezing as much out of the working class as possible, thats simply the name of the game and the rules those folks play by while trying to convince us poor suckers that this is just how it is.
LAC- YOu are right the right wing has no substitute at all for Obama care. There solution is that you are completely on your own. The liberal wing of the capitalist ruling class says well lets give a little health care and make some serious money while doing it.
In the end both options fall far short of what's really needed.
The good thing about the universal health care debate unlike other debates -which because of our lack of imagination we believe can't be done--, we only need to look north of the border or overseas to see that Universal Health Care is indeed possible and that for the vast majority of its recipients it indeed does work.
Field Reagan's sons comments are almost not worth commenting on because they are obvious lies.
ReplyDeleteBut they are consistent with the right wings propaganda efforts.
As we have seen they have rewritten the history of the civil war.
-the civil war wasn't about slavery at all
- Slavery wasn't all that bad.
- vagrancy laws and peonage laws were never used to reenforce slavery
- Jim Crow was a benign fella that only caused problems for uppity Negroes
- the White Citizens Council was a respectable group formed to reign in the Ku Klux Klan
- privately run health care is a form of socialism
- the man who saved capitalism is a socialist
And now Reagan was a benevolent fella who had nothing but love for blacks and the working class.
They really believe that if they continue to repeat a lie it will become the truth.

Democrats may want to consider voting to repeal health reform if they want to keep the youth vote.
Young people tend to lean left until they start paying taxes. Starting in 2014, Democrats face a harsher version of this tendency: Young people vote Democratic until they have to pay taxes and purchase health insurance.
The Obamacare individual mandate essentially targets my age group – 18- to 29-year-olds – to flood health insurance pools with low-risk premiums to bring costs down for everyone else. The young and healthy must subsidize the old and sick by buying plans they may not need.

On the whole Daley as Chief of Staff:
ReplyDeleteA. Obama's gonna do Obama. At the end of the, his Chief of Staff is going to get on board or get out the way. Just ask Rahm Emanuel about HCR.
B. What would happen if Obama nominated some flaming liberal stalwart? What if he put Michael Moore or Jim Hightower? It would be Van Jones in Surround Sound and 3-D. Like I've said numerous times - the left doesn't have the political capital to back Obama when he does something right. And the Tea Party nuts would chase this Lefty hero off the plantation.
Look, I'd never argue that Obama's a liberal -- if anything he's just slightly left of Bill Clinton. But he's affective (mell, you've pointed out, Obama kept capitalism from falling off a cliff).
But the idea some liberal Superman is going to fly over the horizon is just laughable.
My major gripe with complaints about the President, is that they start off with a rather skewed and inaccurate assumption about the guy. He's either sold out or he's the Red Brigade. That's the real gaming that folks have done on Obama -- we made him out to be more than he is. He's not the Muslim reincarnation of Che or a Biafra rebel. He's not an angel or faultless. He's not some Bildeberg plant by international bankers. He's just a run of the mill corporate friendly politician doing a rather undesirable job. Not many people's ideal, but certainly not the boogie man many on the hard left and far right make him out to be.
But, I'll go back to work as Alicia gears up another insane rant about how I'm a "hobama nazi liar" and No_slappz calls me "stupid liberal". Because until we all grown, settle down and talk to each other, we're not going to solve much of anything.

December: Reagan signs secret order allowing CIA to begin paramilitary operations against the Nicaraguan government. Blandon and Meneses fly to Honduras for meeting with Enrique Bermudez, the CIA-paid head of the Contra army, to discuss fund raising in U.S. Blandon says he begins selling cocaine for Meneses shortly afterwards.

Alicia, off topic, why are you typing as an anon? Has your account gone sideways?
Anyway, you seem not to get it -- which I expect. As I said, I don't think Obama is a liberal. But ask the average Tea Party kook, they think the POTUS sleeps with the Communist Manifesto and Noam Chomsky under his bed.
But again, we can't agree to disagree and discuss like adults. I don't always agree with mell, but I don't accuse the man of being stupid or being a liar. That's scorched earth politics -- you're with us or you're the enemy.
Also, you site things that are either disproved or flat out innuendo. Anyway, rant on....

And now we can understand why the main stream media has been obsessed with Obama's associations with Rev. Wrigth and William Ayers, and has been silent on Obama's association with James Johnson and Frank Pearl. Rev. Wright and William Ayers, and the "Michelle tape" that's been rumored are designed distractions to keep the public from focusing on Obama's associations with groups like the Trilateral Commission, the CFR, and the Bilderberg group.
And by the way, the name of Johnson and Pearl's investment bank, which he founded in 1995? Perseus, LLC. And for those of you who might have forgotten your greek mythology, Perseus became a hero for cutting off the head of Medusa.
Coincidence? There's no such thing as coincidence. On their web site they have images of Perseus holding the severed head of Medusa.
Wait... did I mention that James Johnson is on the board of Goldman Sachs? Or that former Clinton cabinet member Richard Holbrooke is also a Vice-Chairman of Perseus? Or that that the Vice President of Finance at Perseus LLC held a similar position at the Carlyle Group? Or that the Managing Director of Perseus was formerly a Vice President at Enron?
So for everybody who has fallen in love with Obama and who has bought into his speeches about changing the culture in Washington, know that you are supporting the candidate hand-picked by the most elite, powerful men in the world, who literally are members of the Bildeberg group.

LAC Said...
ReplyDeleteYou mean the Same CBO that completely contradicted what Paul Ryan said?
Nice try chuckles, but like many right wing lurkers, you're talking out your hind quarters.
LAC. Really? I honestly think you are smarter then this. You do realize the link you provided was was right during the original debate and was already proven to be a lie, thus the demoncrats nudged even more with the unpopularity of this bill as the facts came out had to use reconcialition to get this passed. Again a big part was once the fudged outlook and indicators Obamacrats provided to the CBO to be scored was highlighted, even the CBO made it clear there would be a deficit then.
Lets try this another way.
- I am sure you have heard the CBO now says that ObamaCare will cause our Debt to rise correct? Do you agree with the CBO and just about any other person involved saying this?
If that is true then how can we realize a deficit reduction?
Look up the real numbers now that all the bullshit has been uncovered.
If after all the facts are out NOW including all the double counting, do you understand how the double counting of medicaid funding which was already underfunded and allocated for medicare along with the Doctor fix being totally ignored in the scenario given to the CBO makes the whole thing fiction as far as deficit reduction, if you understand this yet still want to push that this is someones agenda and not simply facts, where it is proven we were lied to and the math was purposely misleading, then there is no hope for us to ever have a civil discussion, it will always be idealism and wishes versus Facts. Facts that are easily checked and reasoned through if one so wishes.
Hey Field, no story about your homey, Kermit Gosnell, butchering newborn babies right in your backyard?
ReplyDeleteYesterday, Dr. Gosnell was arrested and accused of murder for practicing the same infanticide practice that Obama supported.
The Daily Mail reported:
"A doctor has been accused of snapping the spinal cords of seven newborn babies with a pair of scissors in a ‘House of Horrors’ abortion clinic.
Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell allegedly carried out the ‘barbaric’ killings with the help of nine employees – one of them a 15- year-old high school student who was encouraged to perform operations and administer anaesthesia.
Prosecutors claim the babies were murdered after they were born alive in illegal botched late-term abortions during the sixth, seventh or eighth months of pregnancy."
Obama voted 4 times to support infanticide – to kill babies who survive abortion. Maybe he can give old Kermit a Presidential pardon.
"Field, FYI regarding the Rudest Cities in America:
ReplyDelete"No. 3 Philadelphia
Apparently, Philly’s charm offensive has been on a downward slide since, well, Ben Franklin. AFC voters also ranked the locals as No. 33 for being attractive and No. 30 for being intelligent. That’s a good excuse to focus on the good ol’ days while you’re here—its museums rank No. 8 and its historical monuments are No. 6."
From a recent survey. Still think Philly is a good place to live? HA!"
Yes!
As a conservative, I am not surprised at Philly being in the top three rudest cities in America. Field is quite rude himself by the names he calls people. Actually, wherever Field lives, that city should be #1 in rudeness.
ReplyDeleteBut wait! isn't Philly #! in black on black killings and black on black crime?
No Field, it's not about "holding on to power and winning back the White House."
ReplyDeleteIt's about keeping us fighting amongst ourselves so that we don't focus on who really has their foot on our throats.
