You angry black men.

*

Oh Lawd! Now Tyler and Spike are having words. Seems Tyler told Mr. Do the Right Thing to "go straight to hell."

"Tyler Perry voiced his frustration with Spike Lee on Tuesday at a Beverly Hills press conference for the West Coast premiere of his new film Madea's Big Happy Family, according to Box Office Magazine.

In a 2009 interview with Black Enterprise's Ed Gordon, Lee alluded to Perry's work on film and television in particular as coonery buffoonery.

"I'm so sick of hearing about damn Spike Lee," Perry said during the press conference. "Spike can go straight to hell! You can print that. I am sick of him talking about me, I am sick of him saying, 'this is a coon, this is a buffoon.' I am sick of him talking about black people going to see movies. This is what he said: 'you vote by what you see,' as if black people don't know what they want to see."

"I am sick of him -- he talked about Whoopi, he talked about Oprah, he talked about me, he talked about Clint Eastwood. Spike needs to shut the hell up!" Perry reportedly said." [Story]

Now now Tyler, Spike is just as frustrated as the rest of us about the choices us black folks tend to make at times. It's not a knock on you. You found a way to plug into what black folks love to see: Laughter and religion. (That has always worked with black folks. Just keep em laughing or going to church and they will be content.) So go ahead and make your paper. Hey, if you don't do it somebody else will.

Speaking of angry black men. I see that O got into a reporter's grill in Texas the other day. Now O, you have to be careful here, you won over A-merry-ca's heart by being a calm and happy Negro; don't go making them think that you are angry like the rest of us. Nothing turns off A-merry-cans more than an angry black man, and nothing brings them more joy than to see a smile on your face.

O, you have to chill. I know that man was from Texas, and the only thing that they hate more than your beige behind in the Lone Star state is....well I can't think of anything right now. You seem to be pretty much it. Anyway, you have to suck it up and play nice. The man was just trying to ruffle your feathers. (No pun intended Obamaholics.) He would have loved for you to get up, rip off the mike, and tell him to go and f&*^ himself.

"See honey, he is just like the rest of them. I told you that it was just a matter of time before his father's side came out..."

So hang in there O, and when you leave office, you can ask Spike to direct the movie about your life, not Tyler.

At the same time Tyler's company employs a large number of blacks. Who knows, there might a mini Spike Lee working on his staff waiting in the midst.

    Let it go Spike.

Also didn't Tyler write and direct "For Colored Girls"?

    Good movie.

Obama handle himself well. This is the frist time someone in the media has gotten tough with Obama.Bet it be the last!!

Fields miss the organized hate crime commited by 20 or so negros? They jumped a marta train in Atlanta and almost killed 2 white passengers. They didn't attack any of the black passengers.

Of course the Liberal media is censoring the race of the perps/victims.

If 20 or so whites jumped a marta train and almost killed 2 negro passengers----

well that would be a international story that would have included the race of the perp/victims.

I hear you but now that Perry has big money and his own studio he can do other things than just more Madea coonery (and Precious depravity).

Why won't he put some positive black images on screen?

Rap videos employ a lot of people too.

Do we need more of that shit?

    Field,

I like Spike and Tyler Perry's movies. But while Spike's talking about other folks, needs to hire a independent company to edit his movies because he often times messes up a good story with too much sex and cursing. Spike loves him what David Alan Grier calls Breastisiss

Spike's film are edited, the sex and curses are probably necessary to the film. I don't have a problem with cursing or sex in the film when it's relevant to the movie. My problem with Spike is that he acts in his films and he's not a very good actor. I want to see good acting and good stories. I didn't have a problem with Denzel Washington a bad cop in Training Day. He played a convincingly bad character and I was glad to see him die at the end. Many actors will tell you that love playing role of a character who's a bad seed. It allows them the ability to play those interesting roles. I watched a couple of Tyler's films and say to myself I've wasted an hour and forty-five minutes and got nothing from this film. At least when I saw the movie Precious, I was affected by it and felt something.

I would like to see Spike Lee make that one movie that will change the way the world view black folks. (impossible). The world had a negative image of black folks long before "Coon and buffoon" movies arrived. It only took the color of our skin to manifest disapproval. I personally dont give a rat ass what the people that stole Africans knowledge (including religion) think. Mr Perry does cast a negative image of the black man. However, people attend movies that they can relate to, which lead me to believe that we should be cleaning up the black community and just maybe, maybe, the big screen will forward.

A FB friend of mine pretty much nailed Tyler Perry's audience.

His movies have a lot of church references and black male buffoonery.

So he appeals to the black church crowd who feel that praying and screaming for Jesus is going to solve all their problems and make everything alright.

As well as appealing to the single black woman by suggesting that the reason why they are single is because the black man ain't $hit.

A built in audience and multi million dollar gates.

Making him rich but not helping us.

'More than 200 dead' in Nigeria post-poll unrest

    April 21, 2011

Post-election unrest in Nigeria has left more than 200 people dead and hundreds of arrests have been made, a Nigerian civil rights group said on Wednesday.

"In the whole region, from reports reaching Civil Rights Congress, the death toll is over 200," Shehu Sani, head of the organisation, told AFP.

He added that more than 1,000 people had been arrested in the city of Kaduna alone, where a 24-hour curfew had earlier gone into effect.

The riots started as results showed President Goodluck Jonathan won Saturday's elections. He was declared the winner on Monday night over his northern rival, ex-military ruler Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigeria is roughly split in half between a mainly Muslim north and a predominantly Christian south. Jonathan is a Christian from the southern oil-producing Niger Delta region.

ROFL. Mr. Field, you struck my funny bone. That is hilarious and very true. BTW, Texas isn't the only state where they hate Obama. By now, over half of them hate him.

Right here in the Bay Area, they hate him. However, there is a white gay/lesbian stronghold here and white gays and white lesbians are one of the biggest racist groups in America. They will give any white supremacist group a run for their money.

Of course, this is nothing new, considering they blamed the entire black race for Prop8, even though they didn't bother to campaign in our community because they look down on us.

Tyler is no different. He is an exploits Blacks by appealing to the lowest image one can imagine a black person to be, low self-worth and misery. He is a user of his own people.

Much like Bob Johnson(BET), he is a disgusting BLACK TURD who stinks to high heaven, with no sense of decency or pride. He is driven by ignorance and greed to make his millions or billions at any price, which is AT THE EXPENSE OF HIS OWN PEOPLE...(just like Bob Johnson).

What up Field, looks like much ado about nothing.

Why should Perry care about what Spike says, Spike has a right to his opinion and complaining about it only draws attention to the criticism.

Perry's movies to be fair have included a lot of foolishness but there have been some moments of levity as well. Its entertainment and it allows black folks to laugh at themselves.

Its not high art or classic drama so anyone with that expectation will obviously be disappointed.

I think some folks are making too much out of him making money off black folks. Lots of folks do it, why shouldn't a black guy make money off entertaining black folks.

ON the other hand he made a move recently that has greed written all over it. Instead of allow previews of his movie like everyone else he has been sending out clips of trailers. Thats just being too cheap and greedy.

    Bottom line its just entertainment.

Obama- he can handle and defend himself better than the folks he still has locked down in Guantanamo, or the folks he is droning in Pakistan and incidentally his strikes kill more innocents that supposed enemies, or the people he is killing in Afghanistan and even Yemen where the US government in 2009 dropped a tomahawk missle filled with cluster bombs.

Sorry Field but its hard to sympathize with a guy who is leading the government that is doing so much harm abroad and at home.

  29. Negros please. To all that believe Tyler is somehow "showing us in a bad light", I call bullshit. I mean, didn't I hear a similar argument surrounding Huckleberry Nigger Jim? I get back to Tyler but,I couldn't believe the raging debates on yes Nigger Jim or no Nigger Jim. Well, in the first place, I never understood why "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "The adventures of Huckleberry Finn" are considered American classics. What, classic vehicles to carry the message... it takes good white folks to rescue dem po dumb darkies, I mean niggas jims? ah huh, and in the end the darkie still gets screwed. Ummmm, what's the message?

Oh yeah, I heard the cry of some of our 2011 negros.... "Lawdy Lawdy.... don't take Nigger Jim out of The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn". Look, I am not going there today because that sh*t pisses me off. Well, I had one person tell me the following...

"We should have it so that our children ask us 'why they call him Nigger Jim' and for parents to be able to explain the dynamic of racisim and what that crap implies"

Now, if that's not a paper thin stupid argument, I'll kiss your ass. Let's see, if I'm not mistaken, the word "nigger" is presently being used and has been used for nearly 200 years or more. So, we should keep it in Huck Finn to teach our children the dynamics of racism? Get the f**k out of here. If our children's learning tool on racism and the word "nigger" is relegated to The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn, that child and it's parents are destined to be well below the curve.

And now some folks believe Tyler is dropping all of secrets. let me tell yawl a thang or two. I get so tired of negros that watch a movie, and then cry about how it makes "us" look. Give me a freaking break! First, it's a damn movie, okay. It's one story in time. It's one of a thousand avenues in which one could draw a conclusion and/or opinion on any number of topics including race, sexual abuse, or rather or not the Miami Heat will win the NBA Championship. Depending on who you ask, it's highly probably a mega-ton of opinions will follow.

And please excuse me, did I miss the memo? When did the mystical "ambiguous" other folks, white folks (eye in the sky) ever love us? I mean, did I miss the call that said we've been loved for the last 200 years? If there was no such doctrine, then why (NOW?) are some folks concerned with how a movie (one movie) projects a black face, or highlights real issues within our community?

Come on, if a person gets their core knowledge from a damn movie and uses that "limited" knowledge to draw a conclusion based solely from that source, THAT person is an IDIOT! Consequently, if someone worries about that fool's ( the idiot)opinion, then hey, what does that say about them; the one who listens and believes that dumb sh*t? If you talk to a fool long enough, there will soon be two fools talking - and arguing - talking about absolutely nothing.

So Tyler Perry portrays the black man as an evil usurper of woman and fools. Really... how so, and if so, so... and? And what, those monsters don't exist? Spare me, Tyler Perry didn't create those brutal men, look out your window, or look in your family tree. Please, lets keep this real. Who's fooling who?

Listen, personally I do not think Tyler Perry is a great director. But that opinion is not based on the subject matter in his films. Why should it? And now we have some folks attacking the man's character because some of his films include abused women and whorish men. Lordy lordy, we don't want that to get out. The general public can't handle that new (news). See, imo, Tyler did the right thang. In essence he told all the haters and naysayers to kiss the pink part of his A$$HOLE.

Clinton Gives US Support for Haiti's New President

    Apr 20, 2011

AP WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined Wednesday the daunting task awaiting Haiti's incoming president: 650,000 in camps, a rubble-strewn capital, a broken judicial system and the looming hurricane season.

She said the U.S. will help the impoverished, earthquake-ravaged Caribbean nation "all the way."

Clinton heartily congratulated Haiti's pop-star-turned-president-elect Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly in Washington, quoting his campaign slogan to underline the U.S. commitment to Haiti's redevelopment.

But she said that the challenges are many 15 months after the quake that killed more than 300,000 Haitians and that revitalizing the country "takes leadership."

I don't watch movies for positive images, I watch movies with characters who have depth. For the most part, I think most of the movies out there commercial and there are very few independent films that are very good, but no one sees them due to lack of money to market them. There is a movie that Halle Berry just recently starred in portraying a real-life person who suffers for DPS - Dissociative Personality Disorder or formerly known as multiple-personality disorder. What is interesting about this movie, is that one her personality is a white southern woman who is racist. Now I find that fascinating, and wanted to see the movie and couldn't find a theater in my area that viewed it. I don't care if the character is a doctor or a sanitation worker because that is only a small detail to the overall role. What is the perspective the actor is conveying is more important than the character's social status. I wonder how many people saw the movie "Devil in the Blue Dress" which is an adaption of Walter Mosley's book with his character of Easy Rollins, a PI in LA during the 1940s, in fact it one book from a series. Quite frankly, I have no need to see Perry's movies when I can look outside my window and see some of the same characters walking around in real life.

Six people were arrested this week and accused of luring a 15-year-old boy to a Florida home, shooting him several times, burning his body in a fire pit and putting the remains into paint cans, authorities said.
The killing occurred Sunday in the central Florida city of Ocala, according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Two females in the group allegedly lured the victim, Seath Jackson, to the home, and the group beat him with a wooden object. He was then shot several times with a .22-caliber gun, authorities said.
As the wounded teen attempted to flee, he was tackled and shot again, according to the sheriff's statement. His body was allegedly placed in a sleeping bag and burned in a fire pit outside the home.
His ashes were placed into several paint containers and thrown into a large garbage can, authorities said.
Authorities said they learned of the alleged plot from a member of the group who confessed to witnessing the killing.
Four adults and two minors were charged in connection with the killing.
Michael Bargo, 18; Charlie Kay Ely, 18; Justin Soto, 20; and two minors face first-degree murder charges, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

  55. Carey Carey, you're my man and all, but I got to go with Steve on this one. Tyler Perry sucks and he has the resources and influence not to suck as much. The man specializes in coon-shows (Anything Madea related, both his TV shows) or laughable tragedy-porn (Why did I get Married I &II, For Colored Girls). Yes, as someone pointed out, there may be a young Spike Lee or John Singleton in the Kingdom of Madea. But Tyler Perry is such a nuerotic micromanager that he fires most folks who have an ounce more talent than him (which would be almost anyone who got through a decent film school) and aren't afraid to show it. And Spike, being the rather vocal dude he is, called him out.

Its nice to see one powerful cat in Black Hollywood not kissing the overrated rear of its resident (Drag) Queen. And Spike's comments are nothing compared to how Aaron McGruder got in on him.

As for Obama putting that twerp of local newcaster in his place -- good. He was getting snippy and angry with the President of the United States. You're no Bill O'Reilly, homie. Respect the game and stay in your lane. You can ask tough questions of world leaders without being disrespectful.

To mell, AB and other 'progressive' critics of the President, I agree with you that Obama hasn't lived up to the promise of 2008. But I also think that too many of us expect Obama to be Superman or the Green Lantern, a fictional demi-god who could cure all our ails alone through the might of his powers. And when we realized that he's just a politician -- better than most, certainly better than any GOP loser on the hill, but still just a politician -- we started crying in our milk.

Still others follow the perpetually angry faux activist Net Roots route - ala Black Agenda Report -- everything in America is evil and we must fight all those who 'defend Empire' as to create some lefty oasis that has and probably never will exist. They also have a flair for clinging to conspiracy theories and blanket themes from their favorite left bloggers. (If I hear another Pacifica host or blogger say 'Disaster Capitalism', I'm gonna scream!!)

Mell, we discuss this before -- no matter who is the President, progressive policy has historically never come from the White House - it has always been a reaction to the streets. LBJ saw the political pressure to pass Civil Rights and Medicare, Nixon had no choice but to end the Vietnam War and start the EPA (it was create a year after the first Earth Day), Lincoln was forced to address slavery by pressure from his northeastern constituents and the great might FDR gave us the New Deal so the Labor Movement and the Socialist would STFU.

Obama's problem isn't that he's progressive enough. Again, its not about him. Its that he knows and anyone with any political moxie knows the Left and the vast Center are apathetic at best or completely unfocused and counterproductive at worse. Democrats "attack their base" because the base has no means for counter attack or any power to back Democrats when they do anything progressive.

I guess my question is, why is it so hard for some Black men to "look in the mirror" so to speak, and check thier own behavior? Because no matter how hard you try, it's an inescapable fact that if it weren't for strong Black women filing in for missing Black men, the Black community would be far worse off than it already is.

Maybe I'm lucky to have a Black man in my life who not only saw the movie with me, but was willing to accept the fact that MOST of what went wrong among the characters in the film, falls on the shoulders of Black men.

So many black women have this ridiculous attitude that not only are they in a position to lecture black men on their behavior but that they have no behavior issues of their own.

Until everyone black men AND women takes a long honest look in the mirror and own up to their own culpability in the communities problems we will continue chasing our tails as a people.

. Judd wrote that she was upset when she saw that Snoop and Diddy were performing at the MTV World AIDS Day concert because "most rap and hip-hop music -- with its rape culture ... is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny."

While many of us who follow, love and consider ourselves cultural constituents of hip-hop might concede that some rap music is undeniably misogynistic, we also stand up for it when we feel it's being unfairly attacked. I have regularly defended hip-hop culture from its detractors, and upon hearing Judd's sweeping condemnation -- from which she later backed down after harsh criticism from The Roots drummer ?uestlove and others -- I was ready to assume my normal position.

But she is not your usual hip-hop-hating suspect (think Bill O'Reilly). She's a noted progressive, and her work around the world speaks for itself, so instead of a knee-jerk response, I considered the possibility that her claim was true -- not of hip-hop culture, but of rap music.

  100. Obama gets a non-fawning question from a local reporter and has a fit, even threatening to cut off his station from any more access. You just don't ask this President why he isn't popular in Texas. It just isn't done.

No President, not even Slick Willie, has ever been as coddled by the establishment press as Obama has.

CBS has a tape of Obama speaking "off the cuff" to some big money donors last weekend. Obama kicked reporters out of the room but left on a microphone that captured his comments, and the Prez said some things he would rather we not hear. CBS has obliged by not releasing the undedited tape. I guess they get to keep their access. They did release some “selectively edited” moments where the Prez refers to Federal employees as "slugs". Maybe that's the high point and the rest is boring. Maybe Obama admits he was born in North Korea and details his plans for destroying America. Looks like we'll never know.

During the election, the LA Times had a video of a speech Obama gave praising Rashid Khalidi, a close associate that he had to throw under the bus so as not to lose Jewish support (Rashid has some issues with the "Jews"). If CBS is looking for a place to stash the tape, maybe they can ask the LA Times where they buried theirs. (Probably with the birth certificate and the college transcripts).

It's quite an asset for a politician when the media is your lapdog and does just what it is told, isn't it?

A group of Kenyan women who fled abusive husbands to set up their own women-only community are facing increasingly violent attacks by local men angry at their success.

Turning traditional African patriarchy on its head, 15 women established Umoja village in 1990, as a refuge after their husbands' behaviour forced them to flee their homes.

Since then the village where women rule has expanded, its 48 members earning a living selling tourists brightly-coloured bead necklaces unique to their tribe, the Samburu.

if every black woman in america became a chaste childless saint...u would still bash them

    shame!!!

Ten years ago, a group of women established the village of Umoja, which means unity in Swahili, on an unwanted field of dry grasslands. The women said they had been raped and, as a result, abandoned by their husbands, who claimed they had shamed their community.

Stung by the treatment, Lolosoli, a charismatic and self-assured woman with a crown of puffy dark hair, decided no men would be allowed to live in their circular village of mud-and-dung huts.

In an act of spite, the men of her tribe started their own village across the way, often monitoring activities in Umoja and spying on their female counterparts.

What started as a group of homeless women looking for a place of their own became a successful and happy village. About three dozen women live here and run a cultural center and camping site for tourists visiting the adjacent Samburu National Reserve. Umoja has flourished, eventually attracting so many women seeking help that they even hired men to haul firewood, traditionally women's work.

The men in the rival village also attempted to build a tourist and cultural center, but were not very successful.

But the women felt empowered with the revenue from the camping site and their cultural center, where they sell crafts. They were able to send their children to school for the first time, eat well and reject male demands for their daughters' circumcision and marriage.

They became so respected that troubled women, some beaten, some trying to get divorced, started showing up in this little village in northern Kenya. Lolosoli was even invited by the United Nations to attend a recent world conference on gender empowerment in New York.

"That's when the very ugly jealous behaviors started," Lolosoli said, adding that her life was threatened by local men right before her trip to New York. "They just said, frankly, that they wanted to kill me," Lolosoli said, laughing because she thought the idea sounded overly dramatic.

Why won't he put some positive black images on screen?
    "

Ok, agreed. Then Steve went on to say in another post.

'His movies have a lot of church references and black male buffoonery....

As well as appealing to the single black woman by suggesting that the reason why they are single is because the black man ain't $hit.
    "

You see, the underlying truth always comes out. This was what Steve meant all along, it is his core annoyance when it comes to Tyler Perry movies, just as it is for him with Alice Walker and Terry McMillan. It's not really about the bigger coonery "Madea" meme, which is the buffoon image of an angry black woman acting the fool, and is what people are actually soaking in.

But no... it seems that part doesn't anger the likes of Steve, it's always about the sacred cow... the black man. And how dare another [gay to boot] black man expose the transgressions of many black men in various story lines on the big screen. Apart from professional envy, perhaps Spikey doesn't like that either. Steve, Spike and 'em don't give a shit about the likes of Precious or what men are raping them, they are just pissed off that Perry is letting the world see which men are doing it.

Personally, I am neutral when it comes to Perry, he may bring the buffoonery, but at the end of the day there is some semblance of a positive or inspirational message, and it's not always a religious message. Spike has been known to pawn or throw the image of black women under the bus himself, so he's not getting any special kibbles n bits here either. They are all the same to me, just different styles of buffoonery.

And I'm sure more cases of rape, sexual pillaging, and HIV depositing would rise even higher than what they frighteningly are already since the males who are impregnating these "loose" women seem to be given no unaccountability, and obviously lack control over their sexual urges and male reproductive organs. (I guess the growing numbers all those "loose" white women and non-black women with fatherless blackish children should take caution too).

That brigs me to wonder, if all these OOW baby making women are so supposedly loose and giving with their bodies to black men, then why is first degree rape and child molestation so high in the various black communities? Just doesn't add up, I guess.

ief Political Correspondent Follow Him @ByronYork

Seven years ago, in April 2004, President George W. Bush held a formal news conference in which he was asked, "What would your biggest mistake be…and what lessons have you learned from it?" Bush's hemming and hawing answer -- in several minutes of flailing about, he never managed to come up with a single mistake to cite -- was widely criticized in the days that followed.
On Wednesday, President Obama held a town hall at the headquarters of Facebook in Palo Alto, California, during which he was asked, "If you had to do anything differently during your first four years, what would it be?" Obama, it turns out, is no better at analyzing his own missteps than Bush.
The president began his response haltingly, pointing out that he has actually been in office just two and a half years, and "I'm sure I'll make more mistakes in the next year and a half." But what mistakes has he already made? "There are all sorts of day-to-day issues where I say to myself, oh, I didn't say that right, or I didn't explain this clearly enough," Obama said, "or maybe if I had sequenced this plan first as opposed to that one, maybe it would have gotten done quicker."
But the president mentioned no actual mistakes. Next, he brought up the health care battle, not to admit error but to praise the work of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in pushing the national health care bill through Congress. The fight got pretty complicated, Obama said, "and I've asked myself sometimes is there a way that we could have gotten it done more quickly and in a way that the American people wouldn’t have been so frustrated by it?" Was that possibly a mistake? Obama quickly excused himself. "I’m not sure I could have because there’s a reason why it hadn’t gotten done in a hundred years," the president explained. "It's hard to fix a system as big as health care and as complicated as our health care system." After a good bit of talking, Obama still had not mentioned any mistake or anything he would do differently

I have been UN RELENTLESSLY STALKED on this blog for the past TWO years, a situation I don't need the media to tell me I shouldn't take lightly.

Stalked? That's funny. How is one "stalked" on an anonymous message board? Perhaps your online persona attracts other online personas who make threats. So what? I'm betting you cannot be identified through your screen name.

Meanwhile, the only cases of people coming to harm via the internet are those who identify themselves and/or go so far as to arrange meetings with other posters. Hookers, for example.

It appears you have that weird paranoia convincing you that real people are out to get you for statements made online.

FYI, I have NEVER threatened ANYONE on this site...

    Oh, except when you announce...

...but as a card carrying member of the NRA, I not only exercise my rights to bear arms, I'll pop a cap in someone's ass to defend both myself AND my family.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, except that you repeat this threat when you, the anonymous poster, receive harsh responses from other anonymous posters. Even if one of your critics actually found you, and yelled at you for whatever you wrote that offended him/her, you'd learn that you cannot shoot someone for yelling at you.

Now if that's too much for you to handle, maybe you ought to think twice about who you and/or your racist ass homies choose to harass as an Assnonoymous commenter.

I see. In other words, you're threatening to shoot me because you've concluded that my criticism of your views is a crime punishable by execution at your hands. Yeah, you never threaten anyone on this site. As self-identified gun-owners go, you should have your head examined.

I've been around guns all my life, and I've been in the line of fire more than once. You're way to quick to with the threats to act rationally when a real issue develops.

You're likely to act the way John White (a black homeonwer on Long Island) acted when some white kids threatened his son. White shot a teenaged kid to death even though the kid posed no real threat to him or the son. White was convicted on a homicide charge and sent to jail. He thought he was defending his family. In fact, he showed he was an idiot unprepared to make crucial decisions under pressure while holding a gun.

The episode from a new biography of the president's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, reveals the roots of a hunger for power which has driven Mr Obama's heady rise from an eccentric upbringing in Hawaii and Indonesia to the White House.
It will bring a wry smile to the faces of 'birthers', who are not satisfied he was born in the U.S.
In A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mother, author Janny Scott tells how young Barack - then known by the westernised abbreviation of 'Barry' - was pushed by his mother to reach for the sky right from the start.

If it is true, as Michelle Obama said in February, that her husband isn't smoking anymore, maybe he'd better start mellowing out with the cigs again before it costs him the presidency.
The Barack Obama we've been seeing lately is a different personality than the one that made a miracle run to the White House in 2008.
Obama.2008 was engaging, patient, open, optimistic and a self-identified conciliator.
Obama.2011 has been something else—testy, petulant, impatient, arrogant and increasingly a divider.
Never forget: That historic 2008 victory came with 52.9% of the total vote and 52% of independent voters. David Axelrod recently noted "how small the margin for error is."
Presidential personality is well inside the margin of error for 2012, but the one on display recently has not been attractive. And it's happening a lot.

    And a vagina has "hands"?

Also, saying "woman's vagina" is kind of unecessary isn't it? I'm not a doctor (neither are you), but I'm pretty sure that women are the only place you can find a vagina.

Honestly, how can someone who obviously doesn't know the first thing about anatomy or reproductive biology and who can't form a sentence with a coherent thought ever hope to be a doctor?

Black folks who grow up dandergously close to the 'hood don't really "do" paranoia, it's simply the knowledge that white folks get away with harming Black folks everyday in America.

Let's see. Blacks who grow up close to the hood know the risk they face is from other blacks. But...because paranoia is mostly imaginary, you -- the paranoid gun nut -- quickly switch into black denial/paranoia by claiming "white folks get away with harming Black folks everyday in America".

Every day? Really. However, as you know but refuse to admit, when it comes to inter-racial attacks, blacks attack whites about 100 times more often than the other way around.

    And you follow that with:

I'm mearly suggesting that I'd "go down" emptying my clip.

Even if you have one first-hand example of "white folks get away with harming Black folks...", you know the odds of being attacked by whites are about the same as the odds for getting struck by lightning, which means if you are put in the position of emptying your clip (though it's probably a magazine, rather than a clip) you will have your weapon pointed at a black perpetrator.

Or maybe you're suggesting you would think twice before shooting a black attacker. Maybe you're just itching to shoot a white male posing an imaginary threat.

  170. I am not going to address UTS because as I said, if you talk to a fool long enough, there will soon be two fools talking.

LAC, you're right, we're cool, so let me tell you we're I'm at.

I watch movies for various reasons, none of which include learning moral values, nor how to live my life.

I’ve come to believe that a journey shared with another, is more deeply moving an experience than a journey taken alone. Consequently, although I, like everyone who has been caught in the pounce of life’s struggles; that which makes us question our existence, I have managed to maintain my love of watching movies as a form of escape.

Not only do I escape, movie watching affords me the opportunity to visit emotions, sights and sounds - much like reading books - that I may not have otherwise experienced.

See, I am just a black hick from the flat lands of Iowa (yes, there are black folks in Iowa) that loves to stretch-out and view the world from different perspectives. And, as I said, I love watching movies.

Spike Lee is my guy. I’ve never met him, but the following story is my detailed account of how I’ve been trying to rectify that problem and why I believe our visit is right around the corner.

I’ve been riding with Spike Lee since his 1986 breakout movie She’s Gotta Have It.

But let me step back a second. Much has been written about race and racism; I personally feel that it will demand a far less guilty and constricted people than the present-day American to be able to assess it all; it’s importance to the survival of our society, however, I can safely assume that others, albeit begrudgingly, need to hear the narratives/voices from people of colors.

Anyway, before I get too far off the core of this post, in short, I believe Spike Lee was a fresh new voice of black consciousness. And, I’ve been following him every since he hit the block.

So, a few weeks ago I was tickle pink (dark brown) when an acquaintance (Sergio Mims, a writer for Ebony magazine) informed the blogsphere that Spike Lee was going to be in Chicago, promoting his new book Do The Right Thing. The book is celebrating just more than 20 years since the seminal debut of the movie by the same name. Okay, now it was my time to met Spike and get an autographed book to boot. However, two days before the scheduled day of the event, I had reservation on a flight to Atlanta. I caught my flight but all goodbyes were not gone. I have a cousin that lives in Chicago (on South Lake Shore Drive) that let me convince her to stand, tall and proud, in my place. I got my autograph “to Carey, my greatest fan in Iowa”, but I didn’t get a chance to meet Spike.

But wait, remember my friend Sergio Mims, he again informed the blogsphere, through one of my favorite blogspots, Shadow and Act , that spike had booked a return engagement in Naperville, a suburb outside Chicago. Spike is scheduled to be the keynote speaker. Oh boy, here we go again.

I have another cousin - a niece - that lives right in Naperville. So, upon hearing that great news, I scurried to the phone to apply for my hookup tickets. I also contacted Sergio, who lives in Chicago, to see if he’d like to join me. At first he said it was too far for him to drive waaaaay out to Naperville, but if I came to pick him up, he’d be glad to ride along. Now I’m thinking, I would have to drive 200 miles to attend this event and he lives a stones throw away, but I said okay. You know, "a journey shared with another, is more deeply moving an experience than a journey taken alone"
    Now... the tickets.

  172. Continued...

Well, you know how it is when a friend or family member says they have you covered, and then, they don’t. Yep, my niece carries all the genes of a young black woman, and so, things got a little shaky. I had faith that she could acquire ticket because she copped six tickets when Cornel West spoke at the same function - just last year.

After I informed Sergio of our quandary, he went to work. He told me that he might be able to get a couple of press passes. I forgot Sergio was the man, who probably was on the A-list of writers in Chicago, so I was thrilled when I heard that great news.

Now we’re set to go, but wait, Sergio hit me with another e-mail... “Well [Carey]I've got good news and bad news. I just got a call from them. They gave me a ticket for the Lee event. That's it's ONE ticket. I couldn't get another one”
But like a true trooper “the show must go on” he hit me with another message saying, “O.K. but we're still going together right?”. I started to call him back and tell him, hell no, there’s no way I was going to let him in my car, wearing a tuxedo, smiling, as he waved his front row pass - in my face. But again, I wavered and said, yes, we’re still going together. So it's on, the two of us are off to see Spike Lee. I finally managed to get a ticket in the nose bleed section.

But see, Sergio doesn’t know this (unless he reads this post) but I am planning on getting a big ass camera and pretend I am his camera man or personal assistant. Yes sir, it’s my plan to buy a fake, but great looking press pass, and strut to the front, like I am somebody. And then, when the evening progresses to the Q&A portion of the program, I’m going to drop that camera, jump to my feet, frantically waving my hands in the air and say “Right over here Mr. Spike Lee, I have a question for you” . Hopefully he will say “Yes, Mr. CareyCarey, what can I do for you?”. Then I’ll say, “Nothing, I just wanted to tell everyone who will listen, that I met you”

    Continued next post....

  174. Okay, taking it home...

Now, from a different perspective, my uncle is the man that played "kingfish" in the 1950's television series Amos & Andy.

Now we have silly negros like *coughUTScough* that rant on TP for the damndest reasons. Look, when it's all said and done, black directors make movies they feel are relevant to their personal agendas and those of their target audience (which is generally black). White people have nothing to do with it. Negroes need to move past their paranoiac race fantasies of persecution and see reality for it is. And listen, the Negroes who were upset about Chris Rocks movie were embarrassed that non-whites would now know the astringent details of the difficulty of grooming and managing black hair (as if they didn’t already know!). Outside of the deep rooted shame and self loathing of their natural hair, there is no sane reason for Negroes to protest such movie as Precious, FCG and Good Hair. I personally heard two black women bitterly complain that Rock had “exposed black women’s secrets” (I know…I know, as pathetic as that sounds -I actually heard them say it!). Same can be said for the movie Precious. It was a hard core gritty story about a young black woman’s tragic life. All the trappings and characters in the movie are real and black America is filled with legions of Negroes who are carbon copies of every single character in this movie. So why all the histrionics and temper tantrums about situations, behavior and characters that are pandemic in black America? Makes no sense to me.

And please, so many black folks missed the message in FCG. It basically was about self-knowledge and self-discovery. Each woman had to find why they did the things they did. They had to accept the errs of THIER ways, because they were the only ones who could fix their problems. The movie had absolutely nothing to do with male bashing.

But check this, didn't the same freaks come out at night when "Precious" landed. Didn't I hear the same black zombies (wearing blue-eyed contacts) cry foul? Sure I did.

I am still alive. I mean, I watched the movies "Precious" and "Ray" and For Colored Girls, and I am still here. That must make me a special kind of survivor - huh? I don’t feel compelled to shoot heroin or rape my daughter, so I must be special. My white neighbors still wave at me as they pass by. I don’t know what they are saying in their homes, nor do I care.

A "Precious" lived down the street from me. The rumors and whispers surrounding the father of her children have stood the test of time. We called her father, Icewater.

The other day I passed by the welfare office. I spotted several "Mo`niques" exchanging Newport cigarettes. I knew some of them – I waved and kept driving.

I know several women that have been brutalized by the hands of men. In fact, last year, one was murdered by the hands of her lover. And check this, ol'boy had done it before. After doing a ten year bit, he got out and did it again. Now he's doing life.

I’ve coached teenage thugs. I know their mothers and fathers. I am still alive. "Precious" and "Ray" and "For Colored Girls" are movies. Can we move forwards?

Jamie Fox’s portrayal of Ray Charles was one of the best performance I `ve seen in my lifetime. And Mr Charles was (as everyone knows) a drug addict and womanizer.

Tyler Perry's latest efforts may not be Oscar worthy, and truthfully, they're not. However, much of the criticism (hoots, hollers and finger pointing) is pointed in the wrong direction.

And LAC, my lady loves Tyler's movies, so I've sat through a few :-)

I can understand why bw are very critical of the bm. But don't blame him. He has been rendered powerless. Hell, even Obama doesn't have the power other Presidents have had. It's just the way things are in America.

By revealing so many truths so deeply, Cose has fashioned a primer for multi-faceted liberation. He debunks myths and thoroughly examines racist stereotypes and internalized madness that have dually poisoned the spirits and murdered the psyches of so many lost black men.

This book is a celebration of exceptional achievement, revolutionary defiance, and infinite potential. It is a soulful manifesto for sole survivors, and a poetic lament for the soulless. The following excerpts capture the magic of Cose’s literary prose and the depth of his wise vision:

“...the vague entity called society ...had created colonies, labeled ghettos, where young boys like myself learned every conceivable lesson in being cool, but were kept ignorant of the way the larger world worked and of the skills we would need to survive in it...

Virtually every bright kid who bumps up against the typical ghetto school system is bound to be bruised by the encounter...many of us equate acting a fool with ‘acting black’....you are lost without a decent education......there is a breakdown of intergenerational empathy - and a diminished parental ability to educate.

The joke, of course, is on us. For while the white hipsters of the fifties, and the wiggers of the present can shed their “Black” identity whenever they tire of the charade, many of us have taken this hopped-up thuggish character to be the essence of who and what we are.

..we desperately need to promote archetypes other than rappers, thugs, and ballplayers, of what it is possible and desirable for us to be.

The very fact that a so-called revolutionary group [The Black Panther Party] could embrace a man [Eldridge Cleaver] who ‘practiced' rape on black women says volumes about the misogyny that has long existed in our midst.

..somewhere between coddling wrongdoers and destroying their spirit, lies a better way...Obviously, in many eyes, the lives of ordinary blacks are not quite as precious as those of ordinary whites...we will create more of the very monsters that we most fear, by condemning more and more souls that could have been saved to prisons, where their only choice is to mold themselves in the image of those who are truly beyond redemption.

Pimping is easier (psychologically at least) than proving ourselves - than wining acceptance - in arenas such as the classroom, where we have been told that we do not belong.

More and more black women are deciding to go it alone, or look beyond the black community for suitable mates, or to see men principally as providers of sperm, as so many see themselves.

...what is often characterized as behavior directed at black women is just the way some black men treat all women...when it comes to women and children, we as a group are guilty of just about everything of which we stand accused. And we damn well know it.

Many [black men] have developed an arrogance when it comes to the opposite sex, and consequently behave in ways that make women feel extremely angry and insecure...only a fool - or someone totally ignorant of American history - could blame black women for being hurt or upset when their men go off with women of other races...There are still many of us who are somewhat color struck.

Those who love us...are our salvation...”

Field, the title of your post is appropriate for the entire AA male population. I don't know of one bm who is not angry. Come to think of it, I don't know of a bw who is not angry, either.

It must be in the genes passed down from living in America. Does anybody ever think it will end?

  194. *LOL* at the fake Sergio. Please, I just got off the phone with Sergio, you've been exposed! And, the real Sergio would never talk like that. Now, take that shit to your klan meeting.

@ Alica, thanks. Some negros *coughUTScough* only see what their limited minds and limited experiences allow them to see. In essence, they only get what they are looking for. And much of their knowledge comes directly from the 10 O'clock news. Then of course, all they can do is talk out of their ass. They love the smell of being a quasi-intellectual. But little do they know... they're only fooling themselve. Everyone else peeps their hold card as they waddle in the door.

But the average black male don't like to dish out money for a date, much less money for an abortion.

Spoken as a women who obviously never got asked out.

    And thus the anger.

    So sad.
