Imams kicked off a plane.

That sounds like a movie title or something.

There have been times when I was getting on a plane and I felt a strong urge to tell the pilot that I was uncomfortable with certain passengers: The ones with the infants who were acting up in the waiting area, for instance. Or, the family with the screaming obnoxious teen aged kids. But I never did it, because I knew that it wouldn't do me any good.

So how did those passengers in Memphis manage to get the pilot of an ASA flight heading to Charlotte to return to the gate area after taxiing onto the runway? I guess all fears aren't created equal. Only a really strong fear would cause a pilot to do such a thing to protect his or her airplane.

Boy It must really suck to be a Muslim these days. I guess if you are a Muslim and planning a trip you have to make all kinds of contingency plans and prepare yourself for the worst. Kind of like us Negroes used to do back in the day when traveling down South. We always had to pack our food because stopping in some places just wasn't an option. Rest room stops? Forget about it. Your restroom was where you felt safe getting out of the car and getting your tinkle on. God forbid you really had to do the business. But I digress.

Anywhoo, it seems that the Imams were heading to a conference on prejudice and "Islamophobia". "My brothers and sisters, do we ever have a story to tell you about our trip...." Talk about irony. Fellows tell your peeps to hold your next conference in a place like Philly. We see folks in traditional Muslim garb everyday. Even if they were born and raised right here in the USA. Just an FYI; you guys might not want to hold a conference south of the Mason- Dixon line in the future.

Oh well, all is well that ends well. There were apologies all around and the men said that they were treated very well by TSA agents. In fact, they said that the folks at Delta Airlines seemed downright embarrassed by the whole incident. Meanwhile, those worried passengers were able to head along on their merry way without having to worry about those funny looking people on their plane.

I could never be so lucky.

  5. spc:

    amen!

    larry flynt said it best:

This was never more obvious than with the Wall Street bailout, whereby the very corporations that caused the collapse of our economy were rewarded with taxpayer dollars. So arrogant, so smug were they that, without a moment's hesitation, they took our money -- yours and mine -- to pay their executives multimillion-dollar bonuses, something they continue doing to this very day. They have no shame. They don't care what you and I think about them. Henry Kissinger refers to us as "useless eaters."

But, you say, we have elected a candidate of change. To which I respond: Do these words of President Obama sound like change?

"A culture of irresponsibility took root, from Wall Street to Washington to Main Street."

There it is. Right there. We are Main Street. We must, according to our president, share the blame. He went on to say: "And a regulatory regime basically crafted in the wake of a 20th-century economic crisis -- the Great Depression -- was overwhelmed by the speed, scope and sophistication of a 21st-century global economy."

    This is nonsense.

The reason Wall Street was able to game the system the way it did -- knowing that they would become rich at the expense of the American people (oh, yes, they most certainly knew that) -- was because the financial elite had bribed our legislators to roll back the protections enacted after the Stock Market Crash of 1929.
Instead, Obama wants to increase the oversight power of the Federal Reserve. Never mind that it already had significant oversight power before our most recent economic meltdown, yet failed to take action. Never mind that the Fed is not a government agency but a cartel of private bankers that cannot be held accountable by Washington. Whatever the Fed does with these supposed new oversight powers will be behind closed doors.

Obama's failure to act sends one message loud and clear: He cannot stand up to the powerful Wall Street interests that supplied the bulk of his campaign money for the 2008 election. Nor, for that matter, can Congress, for much the same reason.

Consider what multibillionaire banker David Rockefeller wrote in his 2002 memoirs:
"Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure -- one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."

Read Rockefeller's words again. He actually admits to working against the "best interests of the United States."

Need more? Here's what Rockefeller said in 1994 at a U.N. dinner: "We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis, and the nations will accept the New World Order." They're gaming us. Our country has been stolen from us.

The real war is not between the left and the right. It is between the average American and the ruling class. If we come together on this single issue, everything else will resolve itself. It's time we took back our government from those who would make us their slaves.

If the TSA was that effective with their naked scanners and sexual assault groping, why throw them off the plane? Were they on some watch list.

Gee, maybe they should do what everyone claims black people and immigrants must do....assimilate. I don't know, wear more western clothes when flying. I they have a right to wear whatever they want. Well, just because you can...

When more moderate Muslims speak out against fundamentalist violence, and when non-black Muslims stop looking at black people world wide as subhuman, maybe I'll speak out in their favor. Since these other minority groups like to distance themselves from us....whatever.

c'mon Field, if we are all in this together as Americans can't we protect each other? This includes Muslims, why do we always have to segregate? Once I hear ONE muslim tell me the truth and not support a terrorist group while denouncing the koran then I will believe there are moderate non radical muslims, haven't heard one yet have you? Wouldn't they be killed by honor code by any muslim who heard them denounce that Mohammed was a pedophile who preached and preached complete adherance to the murderous code of the koran?

Please. A conference on "Islamophobia" is a conference of imams ranting against the First Amendment and what they would do to repeal it and make criticism of Allah, Muhammad and Islam a crime, just like it is back home.

Have you noticed that muslims NEVER actually conduct outreach programs to build better relations with the "infidels". They work only toward stopping Americans from speaking their minds.

And now we're seeing that plenty of muslims still think a lot of bin Laden. Even if only 10% of all muslims are bin Laden sympathizers, that's 10% of 1.3 BILLION muslims -- 130 million.

  19. Inasmuch as Islam is a religion, a political doctrine and a military all rolled into one, there's no reason to accommodate muslims in restricted venues such as airplanes.

Meanwhile, it isn't as though "Islamophobia" is a paranoid delusion. Muslims have committed over 17,000 acts of terrorism since 9/11.

Thus, when muslims take action against their own internal bad boys, they might receive acceptance by average Americans.

But as long as Pakistan willingly harbors bin Laden and other Islamic terrorists, there's no reason to give these clowns the benefit of the doubt.

As the world knows, muslims are doing nothing to improve the image of Islam.

Racial mistreatment is a cyclical sort of thing. Mistreatment meted out to one ethnic group or another will invariably be visited on you and yours. Which is why it's in most black people's best interests to make sure this treatment ceases, for all ethnic groups. Sometimes that means standing by Latinos or Indians who wouldn't otherwise give them the time of day. Their problems will end up becoming ours at some point, so the need to toss that bag of shit somewhere else before it starts stinking up everyone's joint becomes important.

"Inasmuch as Islam is a religion, a political doctrine and a military all rolled into one, there's no reason to accommodate muslims in restricted venues such as airplanes."

Some people can say that about Christianity. "One nation under God"? I know that phrase was inserted in the Pledge of Allegiance at the height of Commie Fever, but considering how scores of people would love to see a form of fundamentalist Christianity integrate itself into the governing functions of this nation.....

But you don't see Christians being kicked off of planes. Unless it happened to be headed to Mecca, but that's a whole 'nother story in itself.

"The enemy of my enemy will always prefer to be my enemy too."

I thought it was "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Explains America's relationship with Pakistan, Afghanistan and a host of other nations somewhat.

"Some people" can say anything. But there are NO Christian theocracies in the world.

NO nation derives its constitution from either book of the Bible.

NO nation declares the Bible to be the infallible word of a god.

It does not matter that followers of various religions believe they are onto something that rises above government. Unless you are a muslim living in an Islamic nation, in which case your government and your religion form the basis of your state.

    "One nation under God"?

Do you realize the god in this phrase is a non-denominational god, a god of some higher power, but NOT of a specific religion?

I know that phrase was inserted in the Pledge of Allegiance at the height of Commie Fever,

Yes, the communists, who banned acknowledgement of any and all gods. You know, "religion is the opiate of the people".

Communists banned all religions. In retrospect, the Soviet Union would have lasted a lot longer if it had given no thought to Christianity and Judaism, but instead focused on booting out the muslims, or at least the Soviets should have told the Islamic republics to get lost.

...but considering how scores of people would love to see a form of fundamentalist Christianity integrate itself into the governing functions of this nation...

People want a lot from their government. But, whether you understand it or not, there really is, and always will be, a separation of Church and State.

But you don't see Christians being kicked off of planes.

No one has ever hijacked or attempted to destroy a plane in the name of Jesus. Ever. However, since 9/11, muslims have committed over 17,000 acts of terrorism -- you know, in the name of Allah.

They love to say "Allahu Ackbar" as they set off the bomb or pull the trigger.

Unless it happened to be headed to Mecca, but that's a whole 'nother story in itself.

Why is that another story? That contempt for all non-muslims is THEE story.

As the traffic signs on the highway into Mecca says -- Muslims, enter here. Non-muslims, you must by-pass Mecca. Follow this road.

Everyone in the world is welcome to visit the holiest sites of Christianity and Judaism. But non-muslims cannot enter Mecca or Medina.

Absolutely everything about Islam is repulsive.

  27. It's refreshing to see that Obama has, in his own way, acknowledged that every effort made by Bush to defeat Islamic terrorism has become the way of the Obama administration.

However, it's worth reminding the Obama idealists that since Obama became president and stopped all use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" the US also stopped locating the lesser members of al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

We got bin Laden because we obtained the most important information that led to his whereabouts through waterboarding and other tough practices.

However, since January 2009, the only way we've knocked off leaders is by luck, for us, anyway, but unlucky for them for being where the bombs landed.

To win wars, the enemy leaders have to die. The sooner they die, the sooner the fighting stops.

Now we know the leadership of al-Qaeda goes all the way up to the top of the Pakistani government.

What's Obama going to do about that?

Now that he's into assassinations, will he help the Libyans? The Syrians? The Iranians?

It's amusing that Obama's loving supporters have remained virtually silent over the fact that he authorized the invasion of an ally and the execution of someone enjoying the protection of his host country.

It was said over and over that Bush wanted to kill Saddam. Well, the Iraqis did the final killing. And Bush wanted to kill bin Laden, but the killing occurred on Obama's orders -- without a word to the heads of any other nations, without any of the usual authorizations.

I think it's great. Even Obama's believers now have to admit that fighting terrorism is a dirty business and the only way to win the war is to dive as far down into the muck as it's possible to go, and kill the bad guys when you get down there.

Christianity has been the major religion of the Western world for almost 2000 years, and yet the Western world has been the cause of all of the worst man-induced catastrophies in the world. World War I, in which more than 20 million people died; World War II, in which over 16 million people died (over 100,000 mostly women and children in one day) when the Christians dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima; the Holy Inquisition, where millions of people known as “heretics” were burned at the stake at the hands of the Roman Catholic church (a practice that continued for over 600 years and didn't end until the 19th century); the African slave trade, where as many as 600 million Africans died over a period of 400+ years; the almost complete extinction of the indigenous people of three continents (North America, South America and Oceana); the polluted condition of the environment, which is causing millions of people world-wide to die prematurely; AIDS, which has already killed over a million people worldwide and infected close to 1 billion is continuing to spread: and the list goes on and on. When you ask people about the phrase "One nation under God", which religion is the first to come to their minds?

It's implied that the above is a Christian phrase. As you know, there is no way people in the U.S. are going to imply that "One nation under God" means "under Allah" or "under Buddah". Not gonna happen.

"NO nation derives its constitution from either book of the Bible.

NO nation declares the Bible to be the infallible word of a god.

It does not matter that followers of various religions believe they are onto something that rises above government. Unless you are a muslim living in an Islamic nation, in which case your government and your religion form the basis of your state."

There's no declaration needed. It's all about implication.

Fundamentalist Christians (who probably should be referred to as theocrats, in this case) are content with influencing government policy. They don't have to take it over lock stock and barrel a la national governments under Islam.

"Communists banned all religions. In retrospect, the Soviet Union would have lasted a lot longer if it had given no thought to Christianity and Judaism, but instead focused on booting out the muslims, or at least the Soviets should have told the Islamic republics to get lost. "

If you think long and hard about it, Communism itself was a religion, since it involved worship of the State, with Karl Marx as its prophet and the kommissars as religious counsel.

"I suspect that LAA has lived an impeccable and upstanding life and has never needed grace in other words she has never needed and received something she didn't quite deserve."

I'm not gonna assume what life she lived or how it molded her views on this. That's a good way to get knee-deep in some back-and-forth bullshit.

This is a act of power and subjugation by white supremacy. Guys like this pilot love denying "the other" equal treatment in this society. It's what get's them off! It esteems them. I'll bet the pilot is a right-wing, Rush Limbaugh listening, Fox News watching, stooge.

  44. After 9-11 occurred, for several days I listened to right-wing radio. It was vicious and highly racist. It was not exclusively aim at Muslims, though they certainly received the most hostility. It was basically anybody who was not white. Some guy actually thought the Chinese were involved.

Frankly, the Muslim Terrorist is not a source of fear for me. Perhaps, it's due to my skepticism about the facts surrounding 9-11. However, the white, right-wing , christian fundamentalist is another story. The list below is from April 19, 1995 to June 35, 2009.

    TERROR FROM THE RIGHT

    EXCERPTS:

At 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995, a 7,000-pound truck bomb, constructed of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and nitromethane racing fuel and packed into 13 plastic barrels, ripped through the heart of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The explosion wrecked much of downtown Oklahoma City and killed 168 people, including 19 children in a day-care center. Another 500 were injured. The slaughter engineered by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, men steeped in the conspiracy theories and white-hot fury of the American radical right, marked the opening shot in a new kind of domestic political extremism — a revolutionary ideology whose practitioners do not hesitate to carry out attacks directed at entirely innocent victims, people selected essentially at random to make a political point.

    July 28, 1995
Antigovernment extremist Charles Ray Polk is arrested after trying to purchase a machine gun from an undercover police officer, and is later indicted by federal grand jury for plotting to blow up the Internal Revenue Service building in Austin, Texas. At the time of his arrest, Polk is trying to purchase plastic explosives to add to the already huge arsenal he's amassed. Polk is sentenced to almost 21 years in federal prison.

    October 9, 1995
Saboteurs derail an Amtrak passenger train near Hyder, Ariz., killing one person and injuring about 70 others. Several antigovernment messages, signed by the "Sons of Gestapo," are left behind. The perpetrators remain at large.

    November 9, 1995
Oklahoma Constitutional Militia leader Willie Ray Lampley, his wife Cecilia and another man, John Dare Baird, are arrested as they prepare explosives to bomb numerous targets, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, gay bars and abortion clinics. The three, along with another suspect arrested later, are sentenced to terms of up to 11 years in 1996. Cecilia Lampley is released in 2000, while Baird and Willie Lampley — who wrote letters from prison urging others to violence — are freed in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

    December 18, 1995
An Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employee discovers a plastic drum packed with ammonium nitrate and fuel oil in a parking lot behind the IRS building in Reno, Nev. The device failed to explode a day earlier when a three-foot fuse went out prematurely. Ten days later, tax protester Joseph Martin Bailie is arrested. Bailie is eventually sentenced to 36 years in federal prison, with a release date of 2027. An accomplice, Ellis Edward Hurst, is released in 2004.

Implied? Try testing your implicatiion in court.

The concept of god is obviously separate from the specifics of religion.

As you know, there is no way people in the U.S. are going to imply that "One nation under God" means "under Allah" or "under Buddah".

One nation under... does not imply ANYTHING other than an admission that there are forces in the universe more powerful than man understands.

Again, the "god" does not have a religion -- no matter what you want to believe.

But the god to which Islamic nations submit does have a religion -- Islam -- and those nations have legislated and codified rules of their societies in accordance with the Quran.

Yeah, I'd have to think long and hard about it, and then I'd say to myself that Communism is like Islam because Marx and his pal Engles wrote a book, and then there was this Communist Manifesto, and Das Kapital, and they became like the Quran to some people.

But imagine the surprise of Marx, who was desperately hoping to bring Communism to Germany, when it utterly failed to catch on there, but a number of years later, became a big hit in Russia.

There, in Russia, all the wisdom of Marx was reinterpreted by Lenin, the local prophet, who got a lot of people to fight for Marxism/Leninism, and eventually the Communism religion became the law of the land, which gave it total control of the political system and the military.

So yeah, it was just like Islam without Allah. Just Marx, who was its Muhammad.

Should Christians be judged by the crazy Christian preacher that runs around to dead soldiers funerals saying he is glad that they are dead and they got what they deserve and all other kind of foul things. And this when folks are grieving their loved one.

Or should we be judged because of the crazy preacher who burned the Korans.

Or better yet should we be judged by the wild Christians who are hoping that the Palestinians and the Isrealis kill one another off so that Armegeddon will come?

And trust me I could go on thats just the tip of the iceberg.

When I was in Bible College a few devout Christians took it upon themselves to tell us black students that God didn't "save no niggers." And this was in an environment in which we grudgingly welcomed in the first place, yet they claimed to be lovers of God and God's representatives.

Should I have judged all Christianity by all this.

Barack Obama took 5 months, from August 2010 until January 2011, before he brought a team together to shape a plan to get Osama Bin Laden. This was after he knew in August the Bin Laden was hiding in the Abbottabad compound.

From Barack Obama’s interview with 60 Minutes, via Business Insider.

STEVE KROFT: When was that when you set that plan in motion?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, they first came to me in August of last year with evidence of the compound. And they said that they had more work to do on it, but at that point they had enough that they felt that it was appropriate for us to start doing some planning. And so from that point on we started looking at the time what our options might be.

The vigorous planning did not begin until early this year. And obviously over the last two months it’s been very intensive in which not only did an action plan get developed, but our guys actually started practicing being able to execute.

So Obama took 5 months before he put together a vigorous plan to kill or capture Bin Laden? It’s a good thing the state-run media is in the tank for this guy.

Honestly, with the nightly parties, balls and bashes, weekend “date night” traveling on Air Force One to the city of choice, non-stop daily fundraisers and campaign activities for 2012, and 70+ rounds of golf, where does one find time to make decisions?

Oh please! Just stop it! You're making my head hurt!

It was St. Augustine (A.D. 354-430) that devise the plan to merge Christianity with warfare. Throughout the centuries it was encouraged by St.Thomas Aquinas and totally adopted by the Magisterium. It has been used to justify war since. Whether it was Christopher Columbus genocide of Native Peoples or the British Empire of conquering and thievery, it was all done in the name of the Christian God.

Furthermore, the so called War On Terror has it's cheerleaders from Christianity. They are paramount for the cause. As a matter of fact, alone with defense contractors, security firms, etc., Christians have made a lot of money from it. All one has to do, is turn on the Trinity Broadcasting Company. One will witness some of the most extreme views against Muslims that there is. Hal Lindsey, John Hagee, Ron Parsley, Rexella and Jack Van Impe are just a few. These nuts are also Christian Zionist. As you surely know, they have teamed up with the state of Israel. They have thrown their own religion under the bus to placate the foreign policy of Israel.
