Thanks for getting it started, Gil!
Peace go with you Brother Gil.

ReplyDeleteThe anthem of our generation. I trust you are now at peace.
ReplyDeleteI saw Gil at Michigan State (go Spartans!) years ago with Brian Jackson. One of the best concerts I've seen--it was really good. Here's to Gil for telling our stories ...
ReplyDelete"Looking for a way
ReplyDeleteGot to find a way out of this confusion
Looking for a sign
Point my way home
Let me lay down by a stream
Miles from everything
Rivers of my fathers,
Carry me home"
You've earned it Brother Gil.
@Jonston...how poignant!
ReplyDeleteGil was inspirational for Blacks. Unfortunately, the revolution never happened. Today, there are more Blacks out of jobs and in dire straits than ever before.
ReplyDeleteGil, you were a great poet and artist. R.I.P.
Nothing more to say.I'm sitin' with a 40oz thinkin' about Gil.He was a true inspiration and a warrior.
ReplyDeleteIts f*ckin' sad the revolution that our warriors spoke about never happen. It didn't happen because we didn't have the heart or whitey was able to stop us,the revolution failed because of the whores we call political bruthas sold us out for a seat at the Democrat massa table.
It also sad Gil went out the way he did.We in the black community have to do a better job at taking care of our warriors.
"You will not be able to stay home, brother.

Amen.....................
Oh, you and the 40 oz sure are a good start.
ReplyDeletecan somebody tell me what a 40oz is?
ReplyDeleteIs it a drug to lose the desire to revolt?
RIP.
ReplyDeleteBrother Field....Revolution put on hold due to integration. I continue to give more of my leftovers and you be happ(white man formular). Head down and shaking. And please, don't need to hear about what I should be doing. I can/t compete against someone giving you aid from creadle to grave. I was in the forefront of the change...I was there nwhen it was possible to have a revolution. Maybe a "young person" can lament in song about the poor in America revolting against the rich....sigh. Bro Gil will be missed by his fellow Panthers. StillaPanther
ReplyDeleteStillaPanther, i feel ya. the death of Gil brings back the memories and the sadness of a revolution that never happened, and never will. the only hope for "some" Blacks is intermarriage with Whites or Latinos. Going it alone as Black only holds no future except being the brunt of racism by Blacks, Whites and Latinos.
ReplyDeletethanks Field for giving the brother his due. Gil Scott was a predecesser to modern day Hip Hop formerly referred to as Rap which has lost its political way.
ReplyDeleteWhoever pointed out that the idea of real revolution got lost with leaders selling the people out to the democratic party and liberal promises, hit the nail on the head.
Gil Scott had it right a deep going structural change is absolutely necessary for the people to have real justice and equality.
who is PilotX? is he/she new?
ReplyDeletemellaneous, "Whoever pointed out that the idea of real revolution got lost with leaders selling the people out to the democratic party and liberal promises, hit the nail on the head."
ReplyDeleteBlacks don't sell Blacks out. Name one Black who has sold out his/her race. Just what I thought, you can't. But I know plenty of black preachers who stole a lot of money from Blacks and sexually abused a lot of black folks. How about that?
norom
Field, that killing under the Girard Ave station is disturbing. Is that a bad part of town where folks frequently are robbed and killed? If I remember correctly 'Years ago' that area was fairly safe.
ReplyDeletewho is PilotX? is he/she new?
ReplyDeleteNot really, been around for bout what a year now?
Mercy and peace.
ReplyDeleteThe revolution is an involution, and an evolution.
ReplyDeleteIt is meant to overthrow your heart and mind,
To rewire your brain's convolution,
So truth will be easier to find.
you left us too soon gil
ReplyDeleterest in peace sweet prince!
I doubt if Gil would have been a part of Obama's inner circle since Gil was a FREE BLACK MAN and Obama has none in his inner circle...
ReplyDeleteRIP Gil
It's nice to know that I am making this journey with kindred spirits.
ReplyDeleteYes, we all appreciated Mr. Heron.
BrotherPanther, on the eve of Memorial Day, let me say again, thank you (and other Vets like you) for your service.
I think the spirit of GSH was making a joke with the 101st comment on the last thread. Good one bro.
ReplyDeleteField, fyi. Sarah Palin IS "rolling" with "Rolling Thunder" on Memorial Day.

This photo of Palin is much better than the photo in your post may 27, 2011. Clearly, Sarah is a beautiful sexy woman who will be in the running 2012....COUNT ON IT!!!
ReplyDeletePilot Pitot Pitooty X Said....
ReplyDeleteIsn't that cute, our little troll goes to airliners.net cause it wants to talk like a real pilot.
And to answer your question, yes.
Isn't that typical. When a frontin brutha gets nailed he tries and flip it as if he wasn't the one who got exposed as an arrogant dumbass. You proved you hear things but truly don't understand them other then pushing the buttons.
I told you once before. I am not a pilot and I did kind of get a chuckle at your inferring that someone would want to "talk just like a pilot" that of course is something a assipe primadonna pilot like you would say. Pilots are nothing more than over glorified taxi drivers. I have hired and fired your kind for the last 35 years. During this time I have met a hell of a lot of nice and stand up type pilots. I have also met a few primadonnas like you who tried to make life difficult for the entire company team. You should see the shock on their face when they found out not only were they legends only in their own mind, they were also quite easily replaceable.
Now if you want to learn how to speak airline management, such as overall cost indicators, performance KPI's and pilot ratings, just let me know and don't forget to "carry your flag" for memorial day. Maybe you should "fly it" instead.
P.S weren't you the pilot who ordered an extra small uniform cap due to the extremely small size of your cranium and contents? If this really is you, then guess what you are a legend.
"You proved you hear things but truly don't understand them other then pushing the buttons."
ReplyDeleteIt's other THAN. Jeezus, no wonder airlines have such terrible results, dumbassed management. You couldn't pass a sixth grade English exam no less hire or fire anyone. Keep dreaming big son and maybe one day I'll let you see the cockpit and give you some junior pilot wings so you can show your other "special" friends. Maybe one day you can figure out the proper use of YOUR. Ha!
Oh god Field, you gotta weed these jokers out. Ha! Never mind, I like the comedy.

Lemme guess, you're the same dumb ass that didn't know windows 7 could run Java programs too, right?
Yeah, that's an interesting hobbie you have there Goober, trying to
dispell the achievements of Black folks on a blog.
You know if you spent more time actually trying to get an education instead of constantly trying disparage Black folks more educated and successful than you, you may one day be able to have a decent conversation with one of us.
On second thought, there's not that much education in the world when it comes to you Goobers.
"You know if you spent more time actually trying to get an education instead of constantly trying disparage Black folks more educated and successful than you, you may one day be able to have a decent conversation with one of us."
ReplyDeleteExactly Queen, it says it exposed me but how exactly was I exposed? The first troll insinuated that U.S. commercial carriers are somehow less safe due to people of color acting as pilots but a simple check of data proves that is false so that troll tries to move the argument to include international carriers and improperly uses the term "Flagged" carriers. The second anon troll then does a google search of the term and comes up with a aviation centered site that also improperly uses the term and somehow I'm busted as fronting? Give me a fucking break. These imbeciles are unbelievable.
PilotX, "It's other THAN. Jeezus, no wonder airlines have such terrible results, dumbassed management. You couldn't pass a sixth grade English exam no less hire or fire anyone."
ReplyDeleteUh, PilotX, I think you misspelled "dumbassed". Do you want to correct it so you don't look like a fifth grade 'dumbass'?
How about the dumbassery of people like this anon.
ReplyDeleteThere fixed it.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
They've been trying to "expose" me since I started posting here 2 years ago. And I knew the moment you started posting here as a Black Pilot, it would happen to you too!
These underpaid, underachieving racists play this game of trying to "expose" you by carefully scanning EVERY thing you post, looking for anything that seems out of place. When that doesn't work, they go the "you must spell everything perfect" route as if miss spelling a word(s) on a blog some how makes your education, career, success, and income disappear.
It shouldn't be a suprise because it's the SAME thing these Goobers are doing to the President, just on a smaller scale.
Yeah Queen, it's just plain old fashioned racism that they claim doesn't still exist. Sad, the same thing the Tuskegee Airmen went through is still in play. None of them could get jobs as airline pilots because as one major U.S. airline stated "we don't hire no niggers". Notice the Truth guy has that same mentality in 2011 and the other anon wonders why I have to be arrogant. Hell, I have to know twice as much and be twice as good as my white counterparts or all my fellow Black pilots get labled for any mistake I make. You're right, they watch every songle action I make and any fault is magnified as "see, these Blacks aren't qualified". Sickness but as my mom taught my sister and I we have to be Super Black folks just to stay even with the other white guys. But hey as Tupac said it's a white man's world so we have to play by those rules. I guess I have to continue to be the "uppity" negroe simply because I'm good at what I do and have to work damned hard to make sure I am. As Chris Rock said, we'll know we've made it when a Black person can suck as badly as a white person and no one will think anything of it;-)
ReplyDelete@Pilot X...
ReplyDeleteThis response rings true, however, it's a sad state of affairs that
black people can't just be who we are--human beings not super men or women in order function in mainstream society. We run the gamut just like any other racial/ethnic group and frankly given our hx. and the emergence of more overt signs of racism in this country; it's just amazing that many of us have excelled despite the barriers and continue to do so.
I remember reading that Eleanor Roosevelt was an avid supporter of this program. She had no doubt because to become a Tuskegee Airman meant that one could outdo or outshine those who occupied the mainstream flying corps. In fact, I read that the ones that were ruled out or couldn't fly because of quotas could readily excel beyond most airmen. They chose to become mechanics in order to stay with the airmen.
God Bless the Tuskegee Airmen and their legacy.
Pilot X..you have nothing to prove to these naysayers. Believe that!
"In fact, I read that the ones that were ruled out or couldn't fly because of quotas could readily excel beyond most airmen. They chose to become mechanics in order to stay with the airmen."
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely true. Many became doctors, engineers and judges after the war because they could not be hired as airline pilots even though the airlines spent money to train young white males who didn't even have commercial pilots licenses. How about THAT for affirmative action. Nothing like serving your country just to be treated like a second class citizen.
