WTF is going on in A-merry-ca? Please tell me that the Department of Education isn't kicking down doors to get their student loan money. (h/t to Steve S for this story) Okay, maybe it wasn't for unpaid student loans, but this is a very curious case.
Seriously, what did Kenneth Wright do to piss off the folks over at DOE so much? I will tell you whose door they need to be kicking in; folks like the governor of Pistolvania [*see pic] who just slashed 1.5 billion dollars from the funding for basic education in this state. Now that's criminal.
“The state budget proposed today will reverse eight years of academic progress in Philadelphia by slashing funding to vital programs created to put our students on equal footing with well-funded, high-achieving school districts.
“Budget cuts of this magnitude will mean increasing class sizes; will force reductions in employees hired to keep students safe and help students and families in crisis; and eliminate programs like honors and advanced placement classes, music, art, school libraries, counselors, vocational and career training and after-school programs that already are in short supply in urban schools.
“The only way to maintain vital services to children, this budget suggests, is for dedicated, hard-working teachers and staff to pay for these programs out of their own pockets through pay freezes, work furloughs and pension cuts and benefit reductions.
“Instead of investing in students by fully funding public education using the Costing-Out study’s recommendations, this budget slashes funding to the poorest students and, in the long run, will undermine our efforts to raise the educational achievement of Philadelphia residents.”

Who cares? They are just poor inner city kids. They will all be in prison soon. Those poor white folks in rural Pistolvania need jobs. That's where we build our prisons and hire the local help. Thank god for crime and prisons. Without them many of these rural towns would go broke.
Finally, am I the only person in A-merry-ca who doesn't care about the Casey Anthony trial? I sure hope not. It's sad what happened to that little girl, but.....sorry, I am starting to have Caylee overload.

less than bright and more than blind assnon:
ReplyDeletecc that insane bs to hobama's net spies and dna arrests cops and libyan killers etc...
Illegal Domestic Surveillance: It seems the monster surveillance-industrial complex that was kicked off under Bush remains in full swing under Obama. Obama voted for the Bush/Cheney FISA-telecom immunity after vowing to support a filibuster of it while he was a Senator. Glenn Greenwald reported: "So candidate Obama unambiguously vowed to his supporters that he would work to ensure 'full accountability' for 'past offenses' in surveillance lawbreaking. President Obama, however, has now become the prime impediment to precisely that accountability, repeatedly engaging in extraordinary legal maneuvers to ensure that 'past offenses' -- both in the surveillance and torture/rendition realm -- remain secret and forever immunized from judicial review." And Carol Rose added, "The link between secrecy and surveillance is critical: in effect, our government is increasing its power to watch its citizens, while diminishing the power of citizens to watch their government – the very antithesis of democracy." It's telling how out of control illegal surveillance has become when private foreign companies are hired to spy on American environmental activists. This is in addition to the TSA's roll-out of naked body scanners and intrusive pat-downs selectively enforced at airports and fiercely defended by Obama's DHS.
Free Speech Restrictions: Bush mainly used fear, intimidation, access and fake reporters to control the establishment message. He and the media cartel acted in concert to sell gigantic lies to the public. Now, as more people replace their television service with the Internet, "news" has been more difficult for the establishment to control. As the global awakening takes place, the crackdown on free speech intensifies under Obama. The crackdown has been most obvious on the Internet (see next section) and on peaceful protesters. In a comically hypocritical moment that exemplifies how tyrannical this administration has become, Hillary Clinton was giving a speech about supporting the right of peaceful protesters while her security thugs violently removed a "veteran for peace" from the audience for standing in silent protest. Additionally, there was an absolute police state put in place during the 2009 G20 meeting in Pittsburgh to shut down peaceful protests. Finally, we know what direction the current Administration is headed in terms of free speech, given the recent White Papers revealing their desire to "outlaw" or "tax" conspiracy theories, and to make it a felony offense to share copyrighted information even when no money is involved.

http://aliciabanks.xanga.com/732463514/hobamas-global-serial-wars-will-be-worse-than-vietnam/
Internet Rights Eroding: The open and free Internet is under full assault under Obama's leadership. It has become obvious that there has never been much in the way of Internet privacy, especially since the Patriot Act went into full effect. But now, free access to information via the Internet is the target of legislation such as The Protecting Cybersecurity as a National Asset Act, aka the "Internet Kill Switch" bill, and the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA), aka the domain "Blacklist" bill. The free Internet is also being threatened by market-based "net neutrality" agreements, civil lawsuits, technical censorship via search engines, and yes, blogging taxes too. Finally, the DHS has been arbitrarily seizing domain names, which is clearly unconstitutional. Given that Obama is completely in bed with Google and others in the corporate information cartel, you can bet he will show his support for these endeavors even if only by remaining silent as they are debated then implemented.

I am concerned about the elimination of the School District’s Accountability Block Grant, which we have used in Philadelphia to provide full day kindergarten services," Nutter said.
ReplyDeleteField, help me understand, he cut the charter school reimbursement which means the academic increase kids got from going to school with actual rules and standards will go away. But most folks were against charter schools anyway right? All ever hear is how they hurt the unionized teachers and the monopoly on state funds no matter how poorly they performed.
He also slashed fully paid kindergarten day care services. Sorry but parents should be teaching kids that if you have children you will have a huge impact on your life including total and complete support and feeding and clothing your child 24/7 this is not some poor schlumps responsibility to pay more taxes so She Na Na can have 5 kids before she is 20. With cash starved public educational facilities and districts, it would come as no surprise that public schools currently being closed or on the ‘list’ might be turned into prisons. After all, with prison population rising and with good pay for prison guards, communities all over the US just might go for the argument that converting ‘failing schools’ into successful prisons, corporate or course, would be the answer to budget woes, employment, community development and of course the removal of the ‘cavity’ the right wing likes to call public schools.
As many colleges find themselves swimming in debt and ‘cyber learning’ now replacing education we might find that these large college campuses throughout the US could also turned to prisons. Why not? Or in the alternative perhaps they will reinvent themselves as gambling casinos which, as I wrote regarding Harvard and will soon write regarding Brandeis University and Sonoma State University in California, they are any way.
Nathan Bootz, a school superintendent in Michigan wrote a letter to the governor of Michigan requesting that his school be turned into a prison where the state’s funding shortage isn’t having quite the impact it’s having on his schools. Novel idea or practical joke? Perhaps the sardonicism is within both camps. Here is the letter from Bootz to Snyder.

Gotta love Michelle Wright's story:
ReplyDeleteTuesday morning, Wright's ESTRANGED husband, Kenny Wright, and her three children were DRAGGED from their home...
Estranged? Okay. Domestic violence.
Dragged? I don't think so. "Escorted" is more like it.
and placed in the back of a police car as Department of Education agents searched their home.
In other words, she scammed a student loan program for a bundle.
Michelle would not discuss her personal finances or why she thinks federal agents might be interested in her until after she speaks with a lawyer.
Good thinking. No doubt a lot of interested parties want to know the details.
Very possibly the people of interest to the DOE either misused student loan money, perhaps by using it to buy real estate.
Or they attended schools that were established solely for the purpose of collecting grant/loan money made available to eligible students and received kickbacks from the schools for obtaining the grants/loans.
U.S. Department of Education spokesman Justin Hamilton said the agents that served the search warrant were with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), not local S.W.A.T.
ReplyDeleteOIG is a semi-independent branch of the education department that executes warrants for criminal offenses such as student aid fraud, embezzlement of federal aid and bribery, according to Hamilton.
My, my. So Michelle Wright is suspected of fraud and embezzlement. On a federal level. Not good.
moos the cow:
ReplyDeleteHow does it work in your global paradigm that Christianists get to run their lives as they want to, but Muslims don't?
What's the difference?
The difference? Islam is a relgion, a political doctrine and a military. Get it?
In the Islamic world countries derive their constitutions, systems of laws and their civil societies from the Quran and the Hadith.
There is no Christian equivalent.
Moreover, it must be news to you that those Islamic governments are totalitarian. They don't go for Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Plurality, Equality or any of the other basics that are the foundations of life for a growing number of people in the world.
If the muslims believed in all the same freedoms, there'd be no significant problems. But every day they try to impose the Islamic ideology on the non-Islamic world. That's after they get done with imposing it on their own hapless followers.
Muslims don't scare me, Christians do.
That's only because you live where the muslim population remains in a minority where its influence is contained. Try living in Saudi Arabia.
Christians launched a nuclear attack on Japan in 1945,
No. The secular US military, responding to the secular command of Harry Truman, dropped two bombs on Japan in August 1945.
Imagine how much shorter WWII would have been if the same two bombs had been dropped in August of 1942?
How many fewer lives would have been lost in WWII if it had been possible to end it three years sooner?
Christians murdered 6 million Jews between 1933 and 1945.
Your total ignorance of the Nazis is showing. Hitler and his pals did not establish the Third Reich through their interpretation of the Bible. The Nazis were not Christian. Only desperate nitwits like you try to claim a link between these totalitarians and religion.
Since 1945 the American Christian government alone, has invaded more than 30 sovereign nations.
Since the founding of the United States, there has been a separation of Church and State. No military actions undertaken by the US have been in the name of Jesus.
Those Christians they are scary war-mongering motherfuckers.
You seem to be totally ignorant of the daily carnage committed by muslims.
But in addition to the routine slaughter by muslims, there is the daily murder and mayhem in African nations. A lot of those people are animists, though a growing number are muslims. Thus, a double trouble problem. Black and muslim. In other words, another Rwanda is surely on the way.
Then there's the astoundingly high crime rate in Haiti, where half the population practices voo-doo.
It's claimed that the godless Soviet Union put 30 million to death during the formative Stalin years.
Scholars have said that the godless Communist China eliminated 100 million on Mao's orders.
The US knocked off only a couple hundred thousand Japanese to END WWII. But, in your moo-cow mind, that seems to have been a mistake.
I didn't know the Department of Education had an assault force.
ReplyDeleteIs that amount of firepower needed to investigate alleged student aid fraud?
I guess the assault force didn't want another Randy Weaver-type incident.

Why don't fields be talking about the corrupt democrats who run da system.
Befo you be wantin' to knock down da door to the white mans house, why don't you first demand democrats who run the Philly school system to stop stealing and wasting the money dey get?
"I didn't know the Department of Education had an assault force."
ReplyDeleteI guess they got tired of folks defaulting on their student loans.
"Befo you be wantin' to knock down da door to the white mans house, why don't you first demand democrats who run the Philly school system to stop stealing and wasting the money dey get?"
I demanded that already. And I demanded that the Sup.becomes accountable for her actions. Can you say the same for your republi-clown friend in Harrisburg?
Slappy, if you are going to lie...please do so to Goobers who are blissfully unaware of a great many things.
ReplyDeletechristian Reconstructionists and Dominionists are exactly what you pretend Muslims are.
Not to forget the 'Merican Zionists...which you would be aware of...were you ever Jewish.
Try living in wite religio-wacky areas...including PA. Wasn't there some Heeyucks who imposed a narrow and ignorant version of IntelligentCreationismDesign...like in Dover, PA?
And there are many other instances of christians seeking to force others to obey the diktats of their christian fallacies.

ReplyDeleteLet’s allow your man Adolf to speak for himself shall we?
”We demand liberty for all religious denominations in the State, so far as they are not a danger to it and do not militate against the morality and moral sense of the German race. The Party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, but does not bind itself in the matter of creed to any particular confession. It combats the Jewish-materialist spirit within and without us, and is convinced that our nation can achieve permanent health from within only on the principle: the common interest before self-interest.”
Point 24 of the Nazi Party Constitution
"I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord.."
Adolf Hitler – Mein Kampf
”My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders.”
Adolf Hitler in a speech in Munich 1922
”We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.”
Adolf Hitler, in a speech in Berlin on 24 Oct. 1933

Did you know that Joseph Stalin trained as a Priest in the Russian Orthodox church? Indeed, he had a small chapel built in the Kremlin near his office. You should read Simon Sebag-Montifoirs' biography of Stalin, it's very interesting.

Well leaving aside the rather obvious examples of The Vatican and 15th Century Florence, one should not forget that an American Theocracy is the goal of many of your compatriots on the American far-Right. Ask the Tea Partiers if they want a theocracy -or for that matter all those "Rapture" nutcases you have over there.
As an aside did you know that 15 members of the Bush administration believe(d) in The Rapture?
As did the young American terrorists who were arrested for attempting to blow up the Al Aqsa mosque a couple of years back. They were attempting to trigger a global war that in turn would lead to 'The Rapture'.
Those Christians - they're a laugh a minute aren't they?

Citing 15th century history is how you justify atrocities committed in the name of your Islamic faith TODAY, right now in the present?
How you justify your denial of Marxist communist leaders executing millions of people?
Why don't you stop being a snarky little twat and fully embrace your religion, go put on a vest full of explosives and rid the world of your vile nature, you diddling little weasel. By the way, your son doesn't exist in Islam, Islam doesn't like little feeble minded fags. They would execute him or imprison him.
After seeing all your "special thoughts" on the world, it is easy to see how your son grew up confused with you raising him and turned sexual deviant; loving him some baloney sandwiches. Must suck being an Imam and having a son who is a pole smoker. Actually some Imams are advocating homosexual anal sex with young boys as being an acceptable alternative to entering into a relationship with a potatoe sack wearing woman. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to see all those government officials in the buff! Hehehehehe! Let's see what they got!

ReplyDeleteI absolutely do not hate America. My wife is American, my two sons are American citizens who hope to play international cricket for the USA one day. I spend a lot of time with the in-laws in Minnesota and I love it there.
I do hate Christianity though - that's true.
Just as much as I despise Islam. Christianity and Islam are the two religions that have the most in common. Twin evils.
The difference between me and you is, that I hate religion, but I don't hate people who hold different views than myself. So I refuse to hate christians just as I refuse to hate Muslims.
I don't consider hating Christianity "despicable". You choose to worship an omnipotent and omnipresent god who chooses to send a tsunami to drown 30,000 Japanese people - largely at random. Because it's all part of his unknowable plan apparently. The plan that involves sending a tsunami to drown an entire school-full of little Japanese children.
Well fuck you god, any plan that involves ripping a baby out of a japanese mother's arms for no good reason, is not a plan that I want to go along with. So pardon me if I don't worship you.
If god exists he owes us an apology.

The cow moos for mass murder:
ReplyDeleteWell it's not my job to defend Joe Stalin, but the generally accepted figure is much lower than that.
But when it comes to defending institutional mass murdereres, well, you'll do it when called upon.
So according to you and your informed sources, Stalin killed fewer than 30 million and Mao killed fewer than 100 million.
From your point of view that must seem like bad news for Hitler who knocked off only 6 million. In comparison with these new lower figures, he looks a little worse.
As for Hitler and Chrisitanity, as I said, you make ignorance an art form.
Of all the people you could quote on the subject of Hitler, you went with the demagogue himself, his politcal tract.
He was, as we all know, a reliable source on all things.
Let's try Albert Speer's take. Speer said Hitler concluded his historical speculation by stating, "You see, it's been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn't we have the religion of the Japanese who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabiness?"

So what? The Bible is NOT the basis of for our Constitution or our legal system.
Whereas the Quran and the Hadith are at the core of government and society in every Islamic nation. Maybe it's news to you but in Islamic nations women are, to varying degrees, slaves. In no Islamic nation do women possess equal rights.
for the cow:

moos the cow:
ReplyDeleteThe difference between me and you is, that I hate religion, but I don't hate people who hold different views than myself.
You gotta problem. Religion is man-made. One's immersion in it is voluntary. Therefore, if you hate religion but claim you don't hate the people who practice it, you're engaging in a logical fallacy.
The religion does not exist independent of its followers.
Religion is not a virus.
It's more like smoking cigarettes. Despite the hazards, it's the habit people give themselves even though they know it might kill them.
So I refuse to hate christians just as I refuse to hate Muslims.
Then there are those pesky atheist states like the Soviet Union and Communist China. What were their death tolls tallied in the pursuit of their godless ideology?
Seems like you're committed to hating everyone.
Hey cow,
ReplyDeleteIn its building spree, how many churches were built by the Third Reich?
Hey cow, have you been watching the Islamic revolutions? The fundamentalists are gaining ground. IN Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood is on track to hold a lot of power in whatever government evolves, and we both know if the Muslim Brotherhood is a major player, it's only a matter of time before it's the only player and Egypt becomes more like Saudi Arabia.

For the record Slappy, only one of my quotes was from Mein Kampf. The others were from a a variety of his speeches. There are loads more quotes I could have used.
Germany was (then) a Christian nation. The Nazi's could not have come to power as anything but a Christian party, as shown in their party agenda that I quoted earlier.
Also ask yourself this, why did every single S.S. trooper have 'Gott Mit Uns' engraved on their belt buckle?
Give it up Slappy - you've lost this one.

ReplyDeleteThe christian bible also teaches that slavery is acceptable. Indeed it specifies that christians are allowed to rape slaves.
First, the Bible is fiction.
Second, it "teaches" nothing.
Third, in the democracies of the world, slavery is illegal. In democraices rape is illegal.
Whereas in the Islamic nations the enslavement of women is entirely legal and promoted by all legal and social codes. Moreover, in the Islamic nations, it is also legal to rape women.
Nevertheless, in your confused mind, you believe Christianity and Islam are similarly evil.
Have you wondered why NOTHING is invented in Islamic nations? NO inventions, nothing patented? No art? No Literature? Why are Islamic nations so pathetically sterile and barren of all intellectual activity? Can you guess?
Yeah, you'll go back a thousand years for an example, like you did with your moronic example of a Christian theocratic state in the 15th century.

Where to start.
OK, how about architecture. You should visit the Alhambra in Spain and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. I've visited both, they are stunningly beautiful buildings.
Mathematics
Much modern maths was invented by Muslims, including Algebra (al jabbr)
Astronomy
Islamic astronomers laid the basis for modern astronomy, being the first to calculate the length of the solar year for instance.
Chemistry All kinds of stuff here - lots of work on acids for instance.
Optics Ibn al- Haitham pretty much invented the field of optics, writing the first ever book on the subject in the 11th century.
Surgery First practised by Muslims.
Coffee First drunk by Muslims
Universities First built and atended by Muslims.
The toothbrush Invented by Muslims
Music Modern musical scales were based on Islamic alphabet. The Lute and the violin were Islamic inventions. Modern Rai stars like Cheb Mami and Cheb Khaled are global superstars.
Mechanics The crank, the revolutionary devise that converted rotary motion to lineal motion was invented by Al Jazari in the 12th century.
Hospitals First used in 9th century Egypt.
Feel stoopid yet Slappp?
I've got loads more if you want 'em, but it's almost 1 am and unlike you I have a lob and a life, so I'm going to bed.
I'll continue this conversation tomorrow.
pilotX jabbers:
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to believe that but Republicans all over the country are passing laws placing creationism public schools and let's not talk about the numerous blue laws.
Read the Constitution. As for Blue Laws, those are state laws, and most of those laws are now off the books.
Sorry partner, in this here country most of our laws are based on the bible and some want it to go further.
As far as getting inspiration from the Ten Commandments, yes, thou shalt not kill nor steal, yeah, those tow are in there.
What else? Virtually nothing.
Just ask Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich.
How about an example?
Theanti-abortion laws popping up all over are based on religious beliefs nothing else.
The anti-abortion position is based on an obvious fact -- life beings at conception.
The stunning destruction of logic achieved by tha pro-abortion crowd hit full force when some psycho got others to believe that "life" was not "life" until a fetus was capable of living outside the womb.
As if this totally arbitrary idea matters.
But here's a point for you to swallow. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of abortion using the same logic that it used in the 1857 Dred Scott case that upheld the rights of slaveowners.
It goes like this:
Blacks weren't considered fully human. Therfore, blacks were not granted the rights and protections of the Constitution. Therefore, since they lacked those rights and protections, there was nothing to stop others from owning them.
The same logic applies to abortion. Since a fetus is not considered human until some arbitrary point in the pregnancy, it too is not granted the rights and protections granted by the Constitution. Therefore, it is legal to kill a fetus.
There findings of the Supreme Court do not condone or condemn the killing of a fetus. The findings only state that a fetus has no rights, including no right to life.
Slappz, how can you say "the Bible teaches nothing?"
ReplyDeleteWhat about "Do unto others as you would haave them do unto you"?
How about the "Ten Commandments"?
The Bible is a wealth of moral and ethical teachings which you obviously have not explored. But even if you haven't to make a 'blanket statement' that it teaches nothing is preposterous.
Quote:No Slapzz "Was Nazism spread by priests and ministers?"
ReplyDeleteOh absolutely it was, the Nazi's rise to power would have been impossible without the cooperation of the church.

moo cow:
ReplyDeleteVirtually every item on your list was created by people who were conquered in the spread of Islam.
The Islamic world was very big on taking credit for the work done by others.
It's obviously news to you, but many of those creative types who were conquered by the Islamic empire were Jews.
The fact that the Islamic world today is devoid of creativity should alert you to the obvious.
Today, the Islamic nations of the world are populated almost totally by muslims.
In those earlier centuries things were different. You know, the Age of Conquest, and all that.
You conquer a region and you take in the people already living there. But after a while, after everyone is either forced to convert to Islam or smart enough to get out of town, all that's left are muslims.
Such are the Islamic nations today. And surprise, surprise, they create nothing, invent nothing and think nothing.
IN other words, the Islamic nations have purged themselves of the influence of infidels.
What's left? Nothing but idiot muslims who do what muslims have always done -- act like idiots for their crazy god and his crazier messenger.
Slappz@7:51p, thanks for the brilliant analogy regarding abortion and the fetus as having no rights to its precious life.
ReplyDeleteThis is indicative of the minds of self-centered selfish leftists with no heart. Of course, Blacks would be outraged if they had no right to live according to law. You would think AAs would be the leaders in fighting for the fetus.
Thanks again. It was outstanding. Btw, PC is no match for you. He looks like a weak-minded fool next to you.

Harvard’s humanist chaplain believes one can find purpose, compassion, and community without the existence of God. To suggest otherwise, he insists, is a form of prejudice. Yet half of all Americans, according to various polls, say they would never vote for a well-qualified atheist presidential candidate. “No other minority group in this country,” he writes, “is rejected by such large numbers” (approximately 15 percent of Americans—nearly 40 million—are atheists). Defining humanism as, simply, “goodness without God,” Epstein discusses why and how to attain it. Such humanism has, he says, roots in the ancient world and in regions as different as Asia and the Middle East. He traces it from the Epicureans to Spinoza to the Enlightenment and Jefferson’s pursuit-of-happiness doctrine. Humanists don’t deny the significance of God, but rather consider God to be the most influential literary character ever created. Throughout, he persuasively claims that the humanist approach to life can provide the nonreligious with purpose and dignity. A thoughtful account of an often contentious topic. --June Sawyers
*Starred Review* God is getting bad press lately. Sam Harris' The End of Faith(2005) and Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion (2006) have questioned the existence of any spiritual being and met with enormous success. Now, noted, often acerbic journalist Hitchens enters the fray. As his subtitle indicates, his premise is simple. Not only does religion poison everything, which he argues by explaining several ways in which religion is immoral, but the world would be better off without religion. Replace religious faith with inquiry, open-mindedness, and the pursuit of ideas, he exhorts. Closely reading major religious texts, Hitchens points to numerous examples of atrocities and mayhem in them. Religious faith, he asserts, is both result and cause of dangerous sexual repression. What's more, it is grounded in nothing more than wish fulfillment. Hence, he believes that religion is man-made, and an ethical life can be lived without its stamp of approval. With such chapter titles as "Religion Kills" and "Is Religion Child Abuse?" Hitchens intends to provoke, but he is not mean-spirited and humorless. Indeed, he is effortlessly witty and entertaining as well as utterly rational. Believers will be disturbed and may even charge him with blasphemy (he questions not only the virgin birth but the very existence of Jesus), and he may not change many minds, but he offers the open-minded plenty to think about. Field, I've never in my lifetime ever heard of anything like the DOE story before. I worked for goverment before and one of the jobs I had was in a criminal investigations unit.
ReplyDeleteWhen people owed Uncle Sam money, they didn't kick the door in. Government agencies send out a bill, freeze bank accounts, garnish paychecks, send out a notice to appear for a hearing. If it calls for a house visit to confiscate property, they knock on the door because the people are not considered dangerous criminals. They are considered debtors that owe Uncle Sam money.
Uncle Sam has too many other steps they can take to get back money owed to them, so there is no need to kick in doors and act like the Swat team. Smh!
Nevertheless, this might explain somewhat why the Inspector General has become like a Swat team now.
Since the post-9/11 enactment of the Homeland Security Act of 2002,[17] resulting in the amendment of the IG Act of 1978, Section 6e, most presidentially appointed IG special agents have had full law enforcement authority to carry firearms, make arrests, and execute search warrants. Prior to this time, most presidentially appointed IG and some designated IG special agents had the equivalent law enforcement authorities as a result of other statutes or annually required deputation by the U.S. Marshals Service. The 2002 amendment to the IG Act of 1978 made most deputation of presidentially appointed IG special agents unnecessary. Some designated IG special agents, however, still have full law enforcement authority today by virtue of this continued deputation. Some OIGs employ no criminal investigators and rely solely on administrative investigators, auditors, and inspectors.
OIG busted in those people house like they were raiding a drug house or looking for some dangerous criminals or terrorists. Standard procedure would be to send them a notice to appear for a hearing I thought. Things sure have changed.
America is beginning to sound more and more like the past when law enforcement would bust in black people's home without knocking first whenever they felt like it to humiliate and brutalize blacks because the law was rigged in their favor.
America is becoming a Gestapo nation and America has the nerve to condemn other countries for their lack of liberty. Hypocrites!
"This is indicative of the minds of self-centered selfish leftists with no heart. Of course, Blacks would be outraged if they had no right to live according to law. You would think AAs would be the leaders in fighting for the fetus."
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to righties who think it's pk to bomb Muslim children because they happen to live in a certain part of the world. So selective in our outrage.
"How about an example?"
ReplyDeleteTry reading Santorum's book and for good measure read Gingrich's too. Seems the yprefer the idea the country was founded on the principles of Christianity.
BTW I have read the constitution, you might want to show it to your fellow conservatives.
And also Slappz the reasoning behind abortion wasn't the idea that a fetus isn't human but that all citizens are afforded the right to privacy. Meaning if a woman goes to a clinic or hospital it's none of your business why she's going there. We are allowed equal protection under the law so if a woman can go to a doctor in NYC and not have big brother have to know why a woman in S. Carolina is given those same rights. Doesn't matter whether you or I like it or not. Your analogy to Black people is false.
Back to blue laws, you mentioned I read the constitution but I recommend the same to you. There is a supremacy clause that should make all blue laws illegal under the first ammendment if we were to follow it.

ReplyDeleteSeems another Republican thinks god is causing the financial crisis to teach us a lesson. Isn't this one of the guys getting into the presidential race on the GOP side? Slappy you may want to show him your copy of the constitution quickly. seems that another conservative could use a re-read of the constitution, Herman Cain wants to require Muslims to take a loyalty oath before appointing them to positions in his cabinet. Wasn't there something about not having religious tests in there or did I misread it?
