I feel compelled to blog about the president and some of you Negroes (and so called liberals and progressives) who claim that you are disappointed with his presidency.
It must be hard for you to go from declaring that Barack Obama can walk on water to now lamenting the fact that he can't even swim.
But I will repeat again what I have said more than a few times before on this blog and in the main stream media: Barack Obama is a politician before all else. And as hard as it is for you dreamers to believe, you do not get elected to be president of these divided states of America if you are not a politician first. You have to raise a lot of money, and cut a lot of deals with some very shady people. It's that simple.
He might have been a community organizer with left leaning mentors, but when he started campaigning for the highest office in the land he transformed himself into a moderate middle of the road Democrat from the middle of the country.
Now, five years later, some of you are declaring that he should have done more, and that you are disappointed with his hawkish foreign policy, and his actions when it comes to domestic surveillance.
I, like you, have issues with all of these things, but unlike you, I never expected much in terms of a sea change in policy from the beginning. Maybe this is why I am not screaming for a do- over like some of my ideological soul- mates.
And then of course you have to consider the alternative. If not Obama then who? Mitt Romney? John McCain? Please!
The most important job a president has, IMHO, is to make appointments to the Supreme Court. Just think what would have happened with all these landmark cases coming down the pike if John McCain had been elected. (I am shuddering and it's not even cold in here.) There will most likely be more vacancies before this president's term is up. Did you want Mitt Romney to get a couple of those appointments?
But let's forget the politics of this all for a minute. Because, at the end of the day, America being what she is, it really doesn't matter who sits in the White House. The real power lies with the people who have the money to buy lobbyist and influence legislation that is most favorable to their interests, not yours. That's never going to change until the people in this country remove their blinders and stop playing cards with a rigged deck.
So what do we have left? Well let's start with the imagery. (See the picture of that little boy and the president that goes with this post.) Mitt Romney and John McCain could not have delivered on that front, and that alone should have influenced how you people of color voted.
Anyone who claims that seeing the Obama family day in and day out holding it down together and showing love for each other is not a good thing is lying to themselves or they are on the air on FOX News during prime time every night.
They are great role models for African American families all over this country at a time when we could use some. Sorry, Cliff and Clair ain't been on television for a while now, and they ain't coming back.
Finally, a word to my fellow libs: (Notice I am only addressing liberals. This is because "Obama derangement syndrome" has taken over the right and the very mention of his name causes their heads to explode.) Getting hung up on Obama and crying a river because he wasn't the messiah you hoped for says more about you and your political naivety than it does him.
Think about that the next time you read about a drone attack and have voters remorse.
Heading to D.C. to hang with some good people. I will try and post something tomorrow evening if I am not stuck in a bar with a wingnut.
e qui li qua!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! We must always snatch joy!
Good Post Field,
ReplyDeleteI've always considered President Obama a Jackie Robinson type person meaning he probably isn't the best candidate that we have in the Black Community but he was chosen because he's the best for the moment. That being said, the next Brother who comes along won't be so nice to the wingnuts and they are going to really cry like a bunch of bitches.
"Now, five years later, some of you are declaring that he should have done more, and that you are disappointed with his hawkish foreign policy, and his actions when it comes to domestic surveillance.
ReplyDeleteI, like you, have issues with all of these things, but unlike you, I never expected much in terms of a sea change in policy from the beginning. Maybe this is why I am not screaming for a do- over like some of my ideological soul- mates."
First, five years later, Obama is the epitome of George Bush, the President whose policies you screamed, ridiculed and criticized.
I don't recall you rationalizing and giving him a pass based on the fact that he was a politician like you have for Obama. Why? Because you are a racist.
Secondly, Obama sought the Presidency based on "Change", which is what the PEOPLE wanted and voted for him based on his commitment to bring "change" in Washington and the country. He has done neither. He has repeated lied again and again to the extent that NO ONE believes a word he says. He has NO credibility or integrity.
Is that the kind of 'politician' you had in mind? Well, the people who voted for him expected a 'different' kind of politician. One who was more of a 'statesman' whose word you could count on, one who communicated to the people and didn't lie through his teeth.
Thirdly, before he was elected, he presented himself as a man with backbone and strength. He has turned out to be the opposite.
Finally, his administration has been the worst in the history of America FOR BLACKS. We are suffering the worst moment in American history: unemployment, injustices, killings, murders, VRA and racism is at all-time high against AAs. We have been thrown backward instead of forward. All this under the watchful caring eye of the first black President of the USA!
Anon10:58pm--"Secondly, Obama sought the Presidency based on "Change", which is what the PEOPLE wanted and voted for him based on his commitment to bring "change" in Washington and the country. ReplyDeleteThis is a very important point. The people of America could 'definitely' believe George Bush. Unlike Obama, he did what he said he was going to do. You could count on that.
"We have been thrown backward instead of forward. All this under the watchful caring eye of the first black President of the USA!"

ReplyDeleteWell, according to you, Mr Field, everything is hopeless for the people of this country unless you have money and power. That leaves Blacks out, including the President. But maybe that explains why he is a weak President, because he is Black and powerless?
What kind of role model for AAs is that? What's so great about that?
The first Black president was NEVER going to be successful to most white americans no matter what he did, so do yourself a favor, loose the naivete', and wake da' fck up!

---------------------
You are right. He is a colossal failure to both Blacks and Whites. Not because of Whites, but because he has no backbone and no moral character. Thanks for the wake up call, fool.
If Mr. Obama had come into the job to work only for the slim majorities that elected him, or the minority of his parties true-believers, as both of his republiclown sparring partners would have, he might have deserved some of the buckets of shit thrown at him constantly. But he hasn't; despite the griping of his base, he always thinls of how everything he does effects all Americans. In the face of unspeakable vileness, he remains the decent face of middle-class America.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY!!! Good post, Field...
ReplyDeleteWho ARE these people who actually expected Obama to "do something for Black folks"? I'm sure this question has been asked, but: Exactly WHAT would we expect any president - black or white or brown or polka-dot; exactly WHAT would he/she do for black people?
It's disgusting and embarrassing: Woolly headed; cabbage-patch; handkerchief-head; singing & praying Negroes still beggin' ole massa for...Whatever...Like we never left the plantation.
And, while I'm at it:
Eugenics in California!?? Will we ever tire of paying semi-literate irresponsible females to continue birthing and neglecting semi-literate irresponsible children? It's true: CA is the one place where you can go and declare yourself too stupid to piss in a hat AND!! get paid by the good people of CA.
Truman dropped two nukes on japan; and save thousands of American lives. We should have been droning our enemies long ago.
Stupidity should be painful; ignorance fatal. Thank you very much.
G'Man
I will try to be as plain as I can. If young Black males had shot 67 whites in Chicago last week.....this "most powerful man on the globe" would have done something. There are war zones in our communities and yet nothing is being done. This government send food stamps, housing and free government handouts, so its not like they dont have an interest in these communities. Also there must be something in the constitution about protecting the people from enemies...foreign and DOMESTIC. Now you said, he and his family serve as an example of the African American family.......you bring race in this for the mirage....these are not the time to just see him......I want him to do just like he did for the whites of Boston. I am tired of hearing he was not elected to serve the AA s......these killings are not about being Black.....it's about being an American citizen. He was elected for them.
ReplyDeleteA Black Panther Forever, thank you for your comment and I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Obama ignore the black community? Why does he behave the way he does toward AAs?
Well, according to Mr Field's rationale, "Obama is a politician first."
That's code for "Blacks are politically irrelevant ; therefore, their lives are considered 'throwaways' in America".
Anon10:59p
Black people are violent. They kill each other and they'll kill you if they get the chance. Always been the case, and the horrific toll we see today is the cost of freedom. The only way to stop it is to go back to Jim Crow.
ReplyDeleteYou Liberals have nothing to be disappointed about. Barack Obama is destroying the country you hate so much. Isn't that what you wanted?
ReplyDeleteObama is not really "black", he is a product of the white liberal elite. But he will definitely be the last "black" President this country ever has.
ReplyDeleteDid blacks really expect a bucket of cash and free Cadillacs from Obama? LMAO! Y'alls already getting free food, rent and healthcare. Don't be greedy. We got a lot of Mexicans now to feed too.
ReplyDeleteA race of beggars will never be happy.
so...in Scriptures where it indicates that there will be a people, shipped into slavery, treated evilly for 400 years...and the land where they are enslaved will be judged...what are folks NOT getting?
ReplyDeletethe sins of the father are visited upon the children to the third and fourth generation. those that have enjoyed the illusion of 'freedom' in this land of slavery and genocide sure are making a lot of noise lately. it is sad to watch it unfold really. it is as if they just arrived in America in the last five years. i am confused by their astonished confusion. lol.
i find the hardcore racist types to be especially funny. their white manifest destiny seems to be jeopardized by the jews...who despise the goy boys and their desire for world domination.
ReplyDeletesome of the comments dropped here seem to belong over at stormfront. lol. those people are a riot.
"But let's forget the politics of this all for a minute. Because, at the end of the day, America being what she is, it really doesn't matter who sits in the White House. The real power lies with the people who have the money to buy lobbyist and influence legislation that is most favorable to their interests, not yours. That's never going to change until the people in this country remove their blinders and stop playing cards with a rigged deck."
ReplyDeleteIn that case, let us not worry about voting for anyone. According to YOU, it won't matter anyway who gets elected. So why vote at all?
Field, "So what do we have left? Well let's start with the imagery. (See the picture of that little boy and the president that goes with this post.) Mitt Romney and John McCain could not have delivered on that front, and that alone should have influenced how you people of color voted."
ReplyDeleteImagery? Yeah, right. That's what counts for Blacks. Isn't that why we all voted for Obama? for the imagery? Because he is Black? And now, it appears that we are 'still' stuck on his imagery as a black man. He's screwing us, but we can't help but love the imagery. We have a great future ahead of us. I can 'see' us now. WOW!!
"First, five years later, Obama is the epitome of George Bush..."
ReplyDeleteYou don't know what the word epitome means.
Quote Gamin
ReplyDelete"You Liberals have nothing to be disappointed about. Barack Obama is destroying the country you hate so much. Isn't that what you wanted?"
It's conservatives that hate America, not liberals.
Conservatives loved the America of the first half of the 20th century, but not the America of today.
Listen to all those angry old white men on your radio, they want the old days back but the only people still listening are other angry old white men. And in the future there will not be enough angry old white men around to win an election anywhere outside of Bumfuck, Idaho.
With each passing year, you angry old white men will become ever less relevant, and fewer people will listen to you. This in turn will make you angrier, and you will foam at the mouth ever more, until you all become hysterical clones of Glenn Beckkk.
Welcome to your future.
Your worst nightmare is your future.
"First, five years later, Obama is the epitome of George Bush, the President whose policies you screamed, ridiculed and criticized.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall you rationalizing and giving him a pass based on the fact that he was a politician like you have for Obama. Why? Because you are a racist."
Well....yeah, there is that black thing. I think I said that in the post. Sooooo..... *side eye*
"And now, it appears that we are 'still' stuck on his imagery as a black man. He's screwing us.."
ReplyDeleteI suspect that you were "screwed" long before Obama. Just a guess.
TY Desert. I always try to have fun. :)

See ya'll next week rotfl trust me i will return jajajaja
Didn't spend enough time getting ready for the international side of being a US President. Cairo isn't Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI never expect President Obama to be a Messiah, because I don't worship any man/woman/child, and Reverend Jeremiah Wright said it first "Barack Obama is a politician first and foremost who will do/say anything to get elected".
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Rev. Wright, I knew when the media forced Obama to throw his pastor under the bus it didn't look good for black people. I mean, if you can't/won't stand up for the man that married you and baptized your children who will you stand up for?
That said, I expected President Obama to live up to the promises and policies of candidate/politician Barack Obama. Nothing more. Nothing less. And I think if we (black people) had listened to Smiley and West and others who wanted to hold Obama accountable instead of being glad to see a black family in the WHITE HOUSE we wouldn't be having this discussion.
We allowed, strike that, we enabled President Obama to be the President of everybody but black folks. Black folks were supposed to be proud to have a black President and that's all.

When Republicans propose social security, Medicare and Medicaid cuts, and try to regulate unions out of existence, public outcries and near general-strike situations loom. When Democrats do the same, all is quiet. Republicans could not even pass their own bailout bills with a Republican in the White House. This is a man who has enjoyed the fruits of America at the blood and expense of Black Americans and others, but who has paid virtually no dues.
This is a man whose father had also enjoyed the fruits of university schooling in America but subsequently returned to his native Kenya.
This is a man, who also like his father before him, neither served in a branch of the US military nor in any organization in America opposed to US military adventurism.
This is a man who as a deeply corporate military industrial complex US Presidential candidate, has called for “unilateral” US military actions in other nations. [And why not? After-all, his father, himself, or his wife and children were not and will not be the ones killing and being killed.]
This is a man who, in Chicago, pretended to support the human rights of the Palestinian people but who is now known to be a huge supporter of the apartheid Zionists and their powerful and insidious political lobby in America.
This is a man who dares opportunistically to feign admiration for the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but does not share the collective memory, pain and deep concerns of Black America, other people of color, or even of numerous white Americans for that matter - in the ongoing struggle for equality and justice in this nation.
This is a man who has de facto contempt for the past supreme sacrifices made by thousands of activists from so-called “militant” organizations such the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU), the Student National Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Black Panther Party (BPP), Students For A Democratic Society (SDS), the American Indian Movement (AIM), the Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM), etc.
This is a man who is silent about the need for reparations for Black American descendants of slaves and the genocide of the indigenous so-called “Indian” peoples on this continent. He is the consummate opportunist who, in reality, cares nothing about the horrors inflicted upon Black, Brown, and Red peoples in this nation, and has repeatedly signaled that he plans to inflict even more “unilateral” military horrors upon various nations and peoples of the world.
This man, Barack Obama, is but a more articulate, younger, and shinier version of the current and infamous US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, adorning himself dangerously and abundantly in superficiality and double-speak.

Desert, you used to give info on what's happening in the GZ trial. However, you have been very mum about it lately.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the matter, did the trial take a turn for the worse for you? Do you now surrender to the fact that Zimmerman is innocent?
Of course you do. That's because you are an intelligent woman. Like most intelligent persons, you can see the handwriting on the wall. Too bad Field can't see it.

Boy am I glad you just called me intelligent! :))))
I had just sat down to compose a letter to the president of Anon Inc.!
One of your members called me dumb in a post, and truly, I have been hurt all day, and here I am facing a possible hurricane, or at the very least a strong tropical storm with heavy rains that may cause floods and landslides, and I live on a mountain, sort of.
and I will be alone, because my daughter has to work, and the lights will go out, and no TV, no internet, and the mosquitoes will bite without the fan, and I don't know how to turn on the generator or connect all the cables....WAAAAAAAAH, I really feel like crying :( *sniff*sob*)
I have been feeling soo saad, so sad, For real, I am a very sensitive person.
It really wasn't the moment to call me dumb too:((((
I think I'll go have a good cry as I wait for the storm to hit......:(((
oh, and I'm not commenting on the GZ case anymore cos it's getting too sensitive and I think it best...
And that Anon is so lucky cos I was going to complain to The Field about him, but he's not here he's in Washington at that conference and whooping it up in the bars. That's what he said anyway! So I can't bother him with this! X(
ReplyDeleteExcellent post field. The problem is this Barack Obama yes Obama sucks on our rights in regards to national security and his foreign policy is hawkish but he has done alot for blacks its just indirectly.
ReplyDeleteThe black farmer settlement, pell grants, the HAMP program (which saved my ass) healthcare which allowed my cancer stricken mother to be able to finally get insurance) just to name a few and the economy is recovering. He cant pass the black american jobs act just like he couldn't get the american jobs act through.
I read morons blaming him for many of blacks hardships, we need to stop the crazy goons on a local level. No gov't legislation will stop a dumb goon for shooting someone for steppin on his sneakers. We need to support black businesses. Too many avoid blacks stores but will go to the arabs or the yangs at the drop of a hat. Finally we need to be more politically active. The reason mexicans, gays and women are being catered to is because they pool resources and use them to lobby and get enemies out of office. We just whine and blame everybody hoping for a black Moses to lead us to promised land. Thats why you get Tryvon Martins, the increasing slaughter by police, the VRA and Paula Deens, we are not a threat. The GOP just tries to take our rights away and the democrats say "they vote for us any way". Lets unite again like we did for Trayvon, stop these damn goons to get our neighborhoods back and tell these e-militants to shit or get off the damn pot
Desert, fyi: the Anon who called you dumb is no longer with Anon, Inc. That SOB is GONE! Anon Inc does not play that shit. You can ask Field when he returns.
ReplyDeleteIn our contract with FN, there were a select 'few' that Field insisted Anons could not call stupid names. Your name was one of them. Yep, that's the ticket. I knew I'd figure this out sooner or later.

-------------------------
The reason Blacks avoid black stores is because they are over-priced! That's the thing about our business folks, they rip us off worse than anybody else.
More politically active? What is up with the CBC? Aren't they suppose to be working on our behalf? Thus far, what have they done? Our problem is we are 'untrustworthy'. We cannot count on each other because we don't care about each other, let alone trust each other.
As a race or group, we are terribly splintered. It's been that way for a long, long time. But, like you, we talk uniting, ie coming together But we know damn well that's just a pipe dream, just talk. Everybody knows we are all talk. That's why the Supremes, the GOP, the Democrats, the CBC and other politicians-Black and White- rip us off because we lack clout. We are weak and totally non-threatening....Even Obama ignores us. That should tell everybody what we are worth politically. NOTHING. It's a karmic curse to be part of a do-nothing weak-ass group that shoots off their mouths to make noise but do nothing.
Trayvon Martin? Yeah, what happened to all that loud ass screaming about the killing of Trayvon? Where did it go? And why aren't AAs screaming and marching about the outrageous numbers of black on black killings? You see, we are all MOUTH AND NO ACTION....been that way since Jim Crow. Actually since slavery. MLK and Malcolm X were a flash in the pan, a freak moment in time. After their deaths, we died too.
I can't speak for other E-militants as you phrase it and I wholeheartedly agree with you with some of the corrective action that must be taken.....unfortunately as a race the African Americans are past some of these doables that others have taken. My contentions are that governmental interventions has fuel our dsyfunctions. One thing that I would like to hear is that the government will no longer provide when you recklessly have children that you can't nor want to provide for. Another thing is that if you receive any aide...your child must go to school and stay out of trouble. I am also at the stage whereby if your child does not act civilize the family got to hit the bricks...I will give them adequate time to leave. Now I would tell you my history about how I have personally worked to keep my hood and family safe....but at present these communities have not the abilities to eradicate the cancer of uncontrolled youth and poverty. Now to wrap up... I hear you about what we should do...but these communities need something bold and impactful..Do you know it galls me to know that the misguided youth that rob me while walking my dog was fed with food vouchers, lived in totally subsidized housing, had daycare, pre school, after school and heat vouchers: all federal programs paid with taxes (paid taxes 42 years and still). So the federal government should have some mandate to HELP stop 67 shootings in one community in America. My e- militancy is more to vent. This Black Panther continue to serve as I have done for 62 years. Thank you all for allowing me to vent. It is 10p...time to walk D'O'Gee.

Do we think that we can give President Obama a pass on Black issues and somehow when he’s no longer in office, just resurrect the moral authority to hold future presidents accountable to our concerns? How does that work? You give one president a pass on Black issues, but when he’s gone, you go right back to trying to hold the next president accountable. I don’t get how we’re going to do that.

The term ‘voters remorse’ is a distortion in a duopolistic political system. The electoral college mandated by the U.S. Constitution effectively negates third party candidates, and is a fatal defect in our presidential election process. That said, yes, the bottom line in 2008 was a choice between Barack Obama or John McCain (and the untenable Sarah Palin). I was pleased to vote for Obama in 2008, although he was relatively inexperienced. Unfortunately Obama was not another MLK, which was almost impossible standard. Still, Obama missed an enormous opportunity after his 2009 Inauguration.
President Obama was at the peak of his power and popularity in early 2009 during the height of the economic crisis. It was a perfect storm of opportunity for change. President Obama could have supported the interests of the American People over the Big Banks and Business Cartels that make economic slaves here and abroad. Unfortunately President Obama choose the Big Money Interests over The People. However this is not surprising given his risk-adverse profession and training as a lawyer. President Obama’s sympathy toward banks is not surprising either, given he was raised in part by a bank vice president, his grandmother, who provided him a middle-class lifestyle and opportunities.
At best Obama snatched mediocrity from the jaws of greatness. The Big Banks and financial institutions should have been allowed to fail in 2009. President Obama could have opted for a bold plan to empower the American People, not unlike Franklin Roosevelt with the WPA. "The share of Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) and WPA benefits for African Americans exceeded their proportion of the general population." It worked then, and it could work now.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Works_Progress_Administration
President Obama could have acquired the failed Big Banks through the FDIC and Federal Reserve and instituted massive change. As part of a national economic reorganization plan, President Obama could have canceled home mortgage debt, forgiven student loans, and declared a debt jubilee for poor people, working-class and middle-class folks.
http://systemicdisorder.wordpress.com/2013/05/15/debt-jubilee/
Instead, President Obama bailed-out millionaires and billionaires. Obama spent our treasure on wars, destruction, and killing around the world. That money went to defense contractors, welfare for warmongers. That money was not spent on American schools, daycare centers, nursing homes, hospitals, factories, farms, or roads and bridges.
There was no Obama New Deal, just the same old cronyism. Had President Obama been bold, like Roosevelt, and King, and Kennedy, Obama could have been a real National Hero. In turn Obama’s good will could have gone a long way to heal the racial scars in our Nation. The American People who elected President Obama were ready to dream. The People had President Obama’s back. The People wanted change. But President Obama stuck with the status quo. In early 2009 President Obama had a mandate for change, and four years to carry out that mandate. Instead he squandered that opportunity, and the future of America.

BlackisBeautiful, your comment is right on! It's sickening how real life problems affecting Blacks are ignored in favor of trolls. For instance, there were some very good comments about Obama's failure to respond to the genocide of Blacks going on in Chicago. As Panther Forever said, if they had be White you can bet something would have been done by now. Field will never talk about the obvious tragedy and Obama's neglect of Blacks.
ReplyDeletemore on the failed dl racist bankster hobama...
ReplyDeletecc gays/latinos/jobless/homeless/PIC/MIC/africom/wwiii etc
kudos to jc!
And that’s what the white gay community has ignored.
The white gay community fighting for same-sex marriage has been banging its head against the glass ceiling of a room called equality, believing that a breakthrough on marriage will bestow on them parity with heterosexuals, because in most other areas — employment, housing, access to education, health care, etc.—they are already equal with their heterosexual counterparts, at least at face value.
The same generalization cannot be made for black and brown people in same-sex relationships, who unlike their white counterparts, are much more affected by issues like unemployment and see the victory around marriage as being half the battle. The other half of that battle is having a home to live in, a job to pay the bills, affordable health care, and the access to the type of education to make all-of-the-above happen.

To the "Black Panther" who posted at the beginning of this blog that the government needs to do something to stop the violence in the black community, you jus don't get it. The very reason why the black community is a dangerous war zone is because many blacks are still of the "I need a government hand out" mentality. Blacks just sit around waiting for the government to deliver them from evil. Too ignorant to realize that the "government" set up the scenario that put blacks in the position they're in now. Ain't nobody gonna save us from ourselves but ourselves!!!! Black men need to "take back their own communities" and set the examples and be roll models for their sons before they become thugs and killers. Just ask a black young man what he wants to be when he grows up and 5 out of 10 will either tell you a rap star or a basketball player. The other half will tell you they don't know. You won't get a single doctor, lawyer, pharmacist, accountant etc... Nothing academic. Either "singing, dancing, or balling" The government and welfare has taken the place of the father and the black community has been bamboozled into thinking that this is okay. Didn't someone say once a long time ago that once you enslave the minds of black folks, then you won't need to keep the slaves in physical chains anymore. Blacks are still of the "slave mentality!"

First and foremost Obama is a nigger.
ReplyDeleteSo criminality, theft and dishonesty come very easy to him. It is also why he is the worst president, or person that matter, to ever set foot into the White House.
No matter how you coat it, Obama is an enemy of the US citizens. He is determined to continue to strip away rights and freedoms and drive the nation into bankruptcy. And if you didn't know this in 2008, you are stupid.
