Lake Erie over South Beach.

lebron.JPGPlaces can be overrated. People are ripping LeBron for leaving South Beach to go to Cleveland, but honestly, when you are worth millions of dollars, what's the difference? Besides, as Stephen Smith said, LeBron made seventy million last year and might have spent two million of it. Dude likes to chill at home with his family and not hit the party scene. I bet he won't be broke within years of retiring like so many other professional athletes.

I tweeted this earlier: When I was young, dumb, and full of.... well, you know what; I partied in places like Vegas, Toronto, London, Cancun, New York, Los Angeles, and....yes, even South Beach. But the most fun I ever had partying was in a small town in South Louisiana, right outside of Opelousas.

Trust me, you haven't lived until you get your zydeco on at three in the morning, with a table full of corn on the cob, red potatoes, and boiled crawfish at your disposal. Throw in a room full of beautiful South Louisianans and some hurricanes and....well, you can keep your South Beach. (I think Richard's is still there.)

Don't believe the hype about a place just because it has a name and a rep. Everyone can find happiness doing different things and in different places.

Good luck LeBron, Cleveland deserves a break.

Speaking of places to visit, a lot of people like to visit Florida. But if you happen to be in that part of the country, you might want to stay away from Fruitland Park.

"A Florida police department is seriously wondering where they went wrong after they learned last week that two of their officers were allegedly members of the Ku Klux Klan — especially since, five years ago, they had to fire another officer for being a KKK recruiter. (That is three Klansmen too many for an organization.)

The Fruitland Park police department received evidence from the FBI alleging that two of their own, Deputy Chief David Borst and Officer George Hunnewell, were secretly Klansmen. Though it’s technically not illegal for them to associate with the Klan (despite its classification as a hate group by the FBI), the conduct led Chief Terry Isaacs to investigate. Borst resigned of his own volition, but denied that he was a secret Klansman. (Hunnewell was fired for other performance issues.)

In a statement to the Orlando Sentinel, Isaacs said that the department was upset at the accusations. “The last thing I was expecting to hear in the year 2014 was for a professional law-enforcement officer to be a member of a subversive organization,” he told them.

Which is funny, because in 2009, the Fruitland Park police department had the exact same problem:
A city police officer has resigned after allegations surfaced that he was a “district Kleagle” and “staff sergeant” in the Ku Klux Klan.
James Elkins, 28, resigned Jan. 20 after the Police Department launched an internal investigation when it received information that Elkins was distributing fliers in Sumter County promoting the Klan, police Chief J.M. Isom said Friday.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office also received photos earlier this week that show Elkins dressed in KKK gowns and hoods. Isom confirmed that the pictures are authentic.
One Klan member in your police organization is bad. Two Klan members is probably worse. But discovering that your police organization’s hired three Klan members? You might as well bury your head in shame." [Source]

No need to "bury your head", Fruitland Park. I am sure that you are not alone.

Your klansmen were just not as smart as the others.

Finally, Donald Chump Trump might want to spend less time on FOX Views bashing the president and pay more attention to his business interests and his brand.

If it didn't mean the loss of almost 1,600 jobs in the Atlantic City area, I would be celebrating the fact that Trump's property is going under.

But this is a sad time for Atlantic City, as competition from legal gaming in Pennsylvania-- and other areas close by-- are driving gamblers away from the city by the shore.

It will be interesting to see what the city does to try to reinvent itself, and what they will do with the growing number of empty properties.

I think that as long as they keep Mr. Trump  out of their city in the future they should be fine.

Why? Sounds like they might be one police department that is serious about crime.

Do comments like that contribute constructively to the political discourse?

I only ask because that is the standard you held right-wingers to a couple days ago.

Isn't celebrating trumps bad fortune some of that attack stuff that bothers you when right-wingers do it?

If only the police could catch 79 murderers/rapists/burglars in 3 days detroit would be on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, not a lot of $$ to be made arresting murderers like there is fining water thieves.

Trump is being held up by banks. If he went under the banks would lose a ton of money. That's what he does, live off of credit. He got pissed and sounded like a spoiled brat, when Mark Cuban called him out about not having enough cash to by the Buffalo Bills.

    That does sound fun.

I love zydeco. And I used to eat exactly what you describe, served up in a bucket at a Cajun restaurant, back when I lived in Houston. (No hurricanes, though. I'm not really a huge fan of any of the New Orleans cocktails served to tourists.)

But I won't be moving back down South anytime soon. The food is great (if unhealthy), but unfortunately, the racism and Bible-thumping is still off the damn charts. I'm white and at least nominally Christian, so I'm not one of the groups being picked on ... but the cultural climate down yonder is still extremely nasty and screwed up. I'll have to pass.

Donald Dump says he's a businessman. If he's so successful, then why do so many of his works fall apart? Could it be that he's a sham artist? Hmm, maybe the Consumer Protection board should investigate this guy.

Donald Trump has always been known for losing business. He's no Gates or Warren Buffet. In fact, he is not the billionaire he claims to be. However, he is well known in the real estate business. In that business, things can get pretty dicey and corrupt.

Trump has been known as a spoiled brat in the business. He inherited most of what he has today. The man is a loser and a racist. Eventually, karma will deliver a powerful blow or blows to send him to his knees.

No it doesn't sound like Obama. You see, Obama's karma is the opposite of Trump's karma. Obama's karma is divine angelic karma....his karma makes the angels sing.

Trump's karma exists because of Celtic ghost-like evil. His karma drives the angels away and invites the demons of racism in. Of course, Trump isn't much different from most Whites in America.

That's why America is on the decline...because of evil karma of racism , slavery and Jim Crow. Sooner or later they must atone for their sins. Karma has been on its way for sometime. The longer it takes for karma to arrive, the more momentum and power it will have....Good luck.

"Trump is being held up by banks. If he went under the banks would lose a ton of money. That's what he does, live off of credit."

Honestly, I don't think that's exactly right. I mean, the "living on credit" part is right, but not so much the rest. He's not "too big to fail." He fails constantly. Trump has gone bust-o a couple of times, and his investors took it up the butt in the bankruptcies.

The fact of the matter is that Trump is quite good at deceiving wealthy suckers into investing ever more money in his doomed projects, based on his brilliance as a businessman -- brilliance which is not terribly evident, if you take a critical look at his history.

In most walks of life, such an silk-tongued, morality-free individual would be characterized as a con man. But hey, as long as you actually build something -- before it all inevitably turns to sh*t and the bank seizes it -- it's all good, legally speaking. He's an "engine of capitalism," an "innovator." All praise be Trump's name.

Of course, then there's his other scammy, work-avoidant income stream: himself. Because in the warped culture of America, it is possible to make money directly off of your carefully cultivated media image as a rotten wealthy scumbag. The rotten-er, the better!

His dumb catchphrase is "You're fired!" but, if he were speaking truth to his show's audience, it would be "You're stupid."

    ReplyDelete
  22. Those cops were fired for being stupid enough to be found out, not for being racist or klan. Florida is as proudly racist as any other deep southern state. I know personally that in 1984, the KKK was still an official sponsor of the Sarasota High School Football team with it's banner hanging in their gym, and it passed out tracts at their games; especially those against black schools.

Yes there is a lot of racism and ignorance (hey, this is America) but that is true here in Philly, New York, and L.A. as well.

It's all about who u choose to associate your self with.

O-Bomber our President has threatened to VETO ...

A Nasty amendment depriving the District of funds to enforce the new marijuana decriminalization law.

GOP Scoundrel Andy Harris... appealing to his credentials as a physician, cited the detrimental effects of marijuana on teenagers’ brains.
(He did not take into question the effect of teenagers or parents of teenagers being locked up for possessing marijuana on teenagers’ brains.) Most District politicians rolled their eyes and heckled Harris

In short the O-Bombers Veto Threat verbiage reads on Page 5..

"Similarly, the Administration strongly opposes the language in the bill preventing the District from using its own local funds to carry out locally-passed marijuana policies, which again undermines the principles of States’ rights and of District home rule. Furthermore, the language poses legal challenges to the Metropolitan Police Department’s enforcement of all marijuana laws currently in force in the District.
