I would like to start this post by saying thank you to O's administration for easing travel restrictions to Cuba. A brother's cigar collection will lose some value, but I can live with that.
I am just looking forward to getting a little R & R in Havana and checking out all those cars from the fifties.
Of course, as is to be expected, the Cuban exile community in Miami is upset about the move. To them, Fidel Castro is the closest thing to the devil himself.
I feel their pain. But it's a good political move on O's part. Most (not all) of those Cubans in South Florida are all conservative republicans and would never vote for a democrat if their lives depended on it.
Truth be told, I have more love for my Cuban brothers and sisters who were stuck in Castro's Cuba than for the ones who escaped to sunny South Florida.
"Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban "Steve" Bovo, a Republican whose father was a pilot in the 1996 Brothers to the Rescue mission, called Democratic President Barack Obama a sellout.
"Today will be a sad day for all those who have dedicated their lives for a free Cuba. Our President has sold out freedom," Bovo posted to his Twitter account, @CommBovo.
He followed up with two more posts, directed at the dissident Ladies in White and at the Brothers to the Rescue families, whose relatives were shot down by the Cuban Air Force.
"Damas de Blanco @BarackObama and his accomplices sold you out," he wrote. Then: "Family members of murdered pilots of Brothers to the Rescue @BarackObama Sold you out."
Maggie Khuly, the sister of Armando Alejandre Jr, one of the four Brothers to the Rescue members shot down, said the families of the failed mission's victims were outraged.
'I was expecting this, but I can't believe it,' Khuly said. 'No one (in the federal government) had the decency of telling us anything."'
Ahhhm, excuse me, but who the hell are you?
Maggie, No one in the federal government owes you an explanation for a damn thing.
Still, I hate to say it, but I actually agree with a FOX VIEWS host about some of the bad possibilities of this move.
"Reacting to the news that President Barack Obama intends to loosen restrictions on the U.S. embargo on Cuba, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith wondered whether we’ll “ruin” the island nation with the influx of capitalist goods rather than basic necessities.
“I think the last time I went [to Cuba], I brought back Cuban rum, Havana Gold for like four dollars,” Smith reminisced. “Think of how all of that will shift if this actually happens.”
His guest, Gerri Willis of the Fox Business Network, noted that PepsiCo put out a statement on Wednesday asserting their eagerness to begin trading with Cubans.
'You know the fear among anybody who’s ever been there or who cares at all about the Cuban people, as so many of us do,” Smith continued, “the last thing they need is a Taco Bell or a Lowe’s.'” [Source]
Don't forget Burger King and Wal- Mart.
Finally, please check out this video and tell me what you think.
This is what happens when a black police officer tries to arrest a white man who happens to have a higher rank in the police department than he does.

ReplyDeleteWell, you are a fucking communist.
You probably reserve your greatest love for those who run the island police state. They don't have any teabaggers in Cuba; they're all dead or in prison.
But you are right, this is a smart move by El Presidente Obama, as there are no doubt dozens of billionaires ready to reward him for his giving them license to start raping Cuba.

I've read that a lot of the decedents of the original refugees are for relations with Cuba. People from a lot of Latin American countries came here to escape poverty. Rich people came here from Cuba, to escape their wealth being confiscated by the communists. The days of the Domino Theory are long gone. This was a good move. Pope Francis is impressive too.

ReplyDeleteCubans don't have to worry about Burger Kings and Taco Bells moving in. That's not the problem.
ReplyDeleteWhat they have to worry about is rich Americans buying up all the land, building hotels on it, and limiting Cuban employment to being maids, bartenders, and dishwashers. Basically, a rerun of the massive exploitation that existed before Castro, which is what prompted the revolution in the first place.
If capitalism and foreign investment return to the island, the government should ensure that the people get a piece of the action. We'll see.
As for Assata Shakur, I guess she's gonna have to find a new enemy nation to make her hidey hole out of. I guess there's always North Korea?

ReplyDeleteSo...how'd that revolution turn out?
Without the rich Americans' money, the country turned into a complete shit hole. Cuba is nation of maids, bartenders, and dishwashers. Their piece of the action will be a paycheck.

Kinky, you have been watching too much damn Scarface.
Most of the Cubans here in the states (at least the first generation ones) were former members of Cuba's greedy, douche, pre-revolution business class who helped American investors and mobsters drain the country dry. They now complain bitterly about how Castro screwed them, but really, he just got in the way of them screwing their fellow countrymen.
They can weep and gnash their teeth about Obama's decision all they want. I don't feel bad for most of them.
"I tell this story – I mean, even as the first lady – during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn't see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. I told her to go fuck herself and then die. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn't anything new," Michelle Obama, who is 5'11", said.

DeleteEuropean societies are just not a good fit for Africans, just as African societies are not a good fit for Europeans. And when we force Africans to live in European societies, it is like forcing them to wear tight shoes. When we impose white norms on blacks, we resent them for not meeting our expectations, and they resent us for setting expectations they cannot meet.
ReplyDeleteOne law for the white man and the black man is oppression. America was created by whites, so naturally it is run by the white man’s law.
Moving whites into the inner cities and non-whites into the suburbs has massively increased interactions between the races. Racial diversity inevitably leads to tensions, hatred, and violence. Aggressive policing has kept a lid on the violence. But Barack Obama and Eric Holder have removed the lid, which can only increase polarization between the races.
The races really are different. Thus to maintain white standards, we must oppress blacks. But I don’t wish to oppress blacks, and neither do most decent, fair-minded whites. But that leaves us only two options. First, we can surrender our standards and let blacks rule us, which is a non-starter, given the history of post-colonial Africa, post-white Detroit, and the widely televised looting spree in Ferguson. Second, we can maintain our standards and go our separate ways by creating separate, racially homogeneous homelands for whites and blacks in North America. That is the ethnonationalist solution. It is the only solution that takes the well-being of both races into account.

Whites have been the "privileged group" since the inception of this country. You owned slaves, you passed Jim Crow laws...for centuries you have been privileged due to your racist evil ways.
ReplyDelete---
Actually, I have never owned a slave.
Whites have never been the "privileged group" at any time in America's. To be be privileged means something is given to you. No one gave whites this country, they earned it by fighting for it.
In today's America, whites are not murdering blacks. In fact, blacks murder whites at 25 times the rate whites murder blacks.
This is the result of two very different cultures living under the same set of laws.
Whites are the only people who widely accept multiculturalism as an ideal. Whites think that if they only set aside everything about their interests, tastes, and expectations that might clash with those of other races, they can demonstrate sufficient openness and good will that non-whites will drop their resentment, hike up their pants, join hands, and help them usher in a new age of post-racial harmony. Non-whites, however, are encouraged to be as ethnocentric, aggressive, and accusatory as possible in their dealings with whites. Thus present-day multiculturalism is a formula for the exploitation and victimization of whites, which can only increase racial tensions.
It would be much better for whites to separate themselves from blacks. Blacks would then be free to live under their own cultural standards. No more white oppression. Everybody wins.
"Whites have never been the "privileged group" at any time in America's. To be be privileged means something is given to you. No one gave whites this country, they earned it by fighting for it."

"I am inclined to go with anon@4p...you are stupid and a racist. America has been trying to rid itself of people like you. I see we have a lot of work to do"
ReplyDelete---
Whether or not I am a racist is immaterial. The question should be am I right that it is unfair to expect blacks to live by the rules of white society?
The altercation in Ferguson began when Officer Darren Wilson told Michael Brown and his friend to walk on the sidewalk rather than in the middle of the street. Blacks typically have less intelligence, less empathy for others, and less impulse control than whites. Thus they simply can’t be bothered with the white man’s rules. When I lived in Atlanta, I would see blacks dart into 4 lanes of moving traffic rather than go to a crosswalk and wait for the signal. It was like those wildlife parks, where zebras and antelope dash in front of your Range Rover. “Urban wildlife” was my term for such behavior.
The altercation in Staten Island began when police apprehended Eric Garner for selling single cigarettes. Typical black impulsiveness and high time preferences mean that they will gladly pay more per unit for a single cigarette now rather than walk ten feet or wait ten minutes to buy a whole pack. Forcing blacks to buy cigarettes by the pack is just more arbitrary white man’s law, which gets in the way of hustlers like Eric Garner (who had 30 previous arrests) making a living gratifying the impulsiveness of his kind.
I think that in both cases, the police acted rightly to enforce the existing laws and broader white standards of behavior. Whites built this country, after all. I also think that Officer Wilson was right to kill Michael Brown. It was a clear case of self-defense.
Eric Garner did not deserve to die. But he did deserve to be arrested, and his death was simply an accidental effect of his arrest.
The police were right to subdue this large, agitated, black street criminal by force. Softer measures would have endangered the police themselves, and we cannot expect the police to defend our safety if they cannot defend their own.
The police were right to ignore Garner’s protests that he could not breathe, because if you can talk, you can breathe. Garner also claimed he “dindu nuffin” before his arrest, an all-too-typical lie that the police have heard a thousand times before. (Blacks have a very weak sense of moral responsiblity and shame.) If the cops thought that Garner’s claim that he could not breathe was also false, whose fault is that, exactly?
Garner did not die from being roughly subdued by the police. He died of cardiac arrest in the ambulance because he was obese and in poor health. He just wasn’t up to the rigors of being arrested. But he chose his life of crime. And the police can’t give a free pass to fat criminals because they might find arrest too strenuous.
Frankly, neither life is much of a loss, and I resent being told that “Black Lives Matter,” when it is all too obvious from black behavior that they regard both their lives and ours as quite cheap. We should free blacks to live in a society where their values are not in conflict with the (white man's) law.
"Really? I'm White and I didn't know that. Thanks for the 'new' information about us and our history. It really sounds good. I had no idea Whites were actually pure as snow."
ReplyDeleteIt's true, most whites actually believe in "multi-culturalism". It's crazy to believe in an ideology that is designed to cause your destruction, but whites are stupid like that.
"Whether or not I am a racist is immaterial."
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not immaterial that you are a shameless and stupid. That's very important because if you don't have the IQ to talk logically and rationally you are disgrace to the white race. Again, America has a lot of work to do to rid itself of rednecks like you.
"That's very important because if you don't have the IQ to talk logically and rationally you are disgrace to the white race."
ReplyDelete---
Alright, since you are obviously much smarter and more logical than I, perhaps you could favor the world with pointing out where I am being irrational.
The point is that blacks and whites have obviously different cultures that require some type of accommodation to co-exist within the same country.
Blacks all over the country are now protesting for the right to assault police officers without getting shot. This is not acceptable to the majority white culture Therefore, something has to give.
Right now, we all must live by the majority standards. This has caused undue stress to the black minority, who has difficulty conforming to white cultural standards.
Alternatively, we can live by black cultural standards. However most whites would certainly find this intolerable. Since the majority should have rights too, this is not a viable option.
We could live with separate laws for people depending on their race. This would be extraordinarily difficult to balance and would violate most people's inherent sense of fairness. There is no doubt that this would prove unworkable.
If blacks insist on not conforming to white culture, the only real solution would be separate political entities. Blacks wold be welcome to remain in white America, but they would have to consent to living under white laws. Also, all preference programs would be ended. Those blacks (and whites) who find white rules oppressive could live in the black-run part of America.
Wouldn't this be best for everyone? How else might this problem be truly settled?
Hey, Field, any story coming down the pike about the First Lady, Michelle Obama, pulling the race card because a short white lady at Target asked Obama if she could reach something on the shelf?
ReplyDeleteApparently, a short white person will only ask a black person to help, because that white person feels they have ownership over the black person. And if anyone thinks that is bass ackward logic, trust in the fact that it isn't my logic; it's the First Lady's logic.
And Mr. Obama's examples of "racism" aren't all that much better. Being confused for a parking valet and not being able to hail a taxi. Boy, I betcha those blacks who had crosses burned on their lawn or who were beaten or threatened for dating white women are shedding a tear for our poor red-vest-wearing POTUS and his horrific, tragic, unworldly, disgusting, despicable examples of unadulterated pure racism!
The way we treat the blacks in America. It's fucking disgusting. How dare a short white person ask a tall black person to get something off the shelves! What is this? Slavery all over again? Go get a ladder, you racist white slave-driving bitch!
@ Josh: The first time Michelle told this story was on the David Letterman show back in 2011:
ReplyDelete“That’s my Target run. I went to Target,” she said. “I thought I was undercover. I have to tell you something about this trip though. No one knew that was me because a woman actually walked up to me, right? I was in the detergent aisle, and she said — I kid you not — she said, ‘Excuse me, I just have to ask you something,’ and I thought, ‘Oh, cover’s blown.’ She said, ‘Can you reach on that shelf and hand me the detergent?’ I kid you not.”
As the audience laughed, she went on, “And the only thing she said — I reached up, ’cause she was short, and I reached up, pulled it down — she said, ‘Well, you didn’t have to make it look so easy.’ That was my interaction. I felt so good. … She had no idea who I was. I thought, as soon as she walked up — I was with my assistant, and I said, ‘This is it, it’s over. We’re going to have to leave.’ She just needed the detergent.”
Three years ago, it was a "feel good" story of Michelle's brush with the common folk. But today during the Michael Brown/Eric Garner campaign, the Obama's are casting themselves as co-victims of racist Ammerica, and the story has been retold to to portray America as the land of nasty white racists and herself as the victim.
There is truly nothing beneath the democrats when it comes to using race as a weapon against Americans.
Disgusting.
Michelle Obama 2011: "That was my interaction. I felt so good. … She had no idea who I was."
ReplyDeleteMichelle Obama 2014: "Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn’t anything new.”
http://soopermexican.com/2014/12/17/michelle-obamas-story-of-racism-at-target-is-a-tall-tale/
I feel it is definitely beneath the office of the President and the First Lady. People in America have suffered true racial discrimination and have been victimized for no other reason than their skin color. And here are these bozos, trying to gain sympathy with their truly tragic tales of being mistaken for a parking valet and having a short person ask a tall person to reach something off a shelf.
ReplyDeleteNot only should they be ashamed of themselves, I'd argue anyone to give them a free pass on this should share in that shame.

And here are these bozos, trying to gain sympathy with their truly tragic tales of being mistaken for a parking valet and having a short person ask a tall person to reach something off a shelf.
According to all the pictures, Michelle was not wearing a red shirt and khakis like target employees do. Why would someone mistake her for a target employee?
Here in LaLa Land... Parking service employees wear black pants, white shirt and a colored vest with the company name/logo on it.
Is it different on the east coast where Obama goes to events?
@Bill,
ReplyDeleteWas she mistaken for a Target employee? Or was she simply a foot taller than another person and thus able to reach the shelf? Since when is it mandatory that you ask only an employee of a store for help? If my tire goes flat on the road, should I wait until AAA comes along before I dare inflict upon a black person the horrific indignity of asking them to help me?
"What I look like, yo, a damn mechanic!?"
I think it would be racist to not ask someone just because that someone is black. Am I scared they'll rob me? Should that woman in Target have been fearful that Obama would go all ghetto and pull the short bitch down by her hair like a bad episode of Maury?
The real story is how her encounter went from something that made her say "I felt so good" to an illustration of how irredeemably racist American society is, just to pile onto the exploitation of the anti-police demonstrations.

Black folks are all about lying, apparently.
"Trust me, us black folks get it."
ReplyDeleteGet what? That someone asking you for help in store is racism?
I was asked once to help load a lady's groceries into a taxi cab. But, oh, let me guess: That doesn't count; it happens to y'all disproportionately; it didn't affect me; there's no history there; and a thousand other things that still don't explain how Michelle Obama experienced racism.
And what, exactly, was she talking about? And to which time are you referring? The time it was a light-hearted anecdote and something that made her feel good, or three years later when she started viewing it as a racist slight?
This makes no sense. Someone's skin color shouldn't matter one iota to a story that is pretty damn straightforward: Short woman sees a woman in an aisle who's taller than most men, and short woman subsequently asks, "Can you reach that for me?" How on this green earth could that possibly have anything whatsoever to do with the skin color of Michelle Obama? Why does it become a black thing?
Did she say, "Hey, negress, fetch me that laundry soap, you nappy mess."? Hell no. She politely asked, and it apparently made Mrs. Obama's entire night, and she was bragging about how awesome the encounter was. So, which time did it become that black thing that I just can't understand?
I already know the answer, of course: When it's time to sell books and sew the seeds of racial disharmony. Then, suddenly...racism.

Lord have mercy I don't know any more than when I asked the question.
Who? What? Why?
Why must we speak in code? We really need to help each other by decoding remarks with clear explanation.
An addendum to my previous comment:
ReplyDeleteI think I'm starting to get it. It's all about the epidemic of racism in America.
This epidemic of whites expecting black people in stores to be good Samaritans needs to stop!
I see new shirts out for next week: "Hands down, don't grab!" and protest signs reading, "Get Your Own Damn Soap!" and Sharpton-led crowd chants, "Preach and teach that we won't reach!"
Candlelight vigils going on all across this great nation of ours, tortured souls and held hands spreading the message of love, peach, understanding, and the apparent new rule that a white person can in no way expect a black person to do them a favor.
White people, you don't get it. Now, if you ever need help and don't ask a black person, well, that's because you're bigoted and assume they're going to harm you. You fear the black race! You panic with your bigoted assumptions of the blacks. But if you do ask a black person for their help, well, you're just assuming ownership and are acting on your slave-master DNA.
If no one has ever heard of a catch-22, this is the fucking quintessential definition.
White folks, you're damned if you and damned if you don't. And it's not hard to see why some white folks just turn and go the other way. They can't win. Don't say hello? Scared racist. Say hello? Oh, just placating the black and trying to assuage your racist ways.
Josh, Field's point is that no one would have asked Barbara Bush for damn thing.

ReplyDeleteJosh, we don't expect u to understand what Michelle O was talking about. Trust me, us black folks get it.
We white folks get it too. American blacks have a huge chip on their shoulder. Let us call it the chocolate chip. A chip on one’s shoulder means a set of preexisting grievances that are merely triggered by current events. Such behavior is essentially neurotic, because the reaction is seldom appropriate, either in kind or intensity, to what triggers it.
Yisheng:
ReplyDeletePerhaps--emphasis on perhaps--a valid comparison, if in fact the white woman in the story recognized Michelle Obama as the First Lady.
You cannot impose the standard by which you view her--her earned title--on those who were unaware. Not to even mention that Mrs. Obama herself made the whole hullabaloo about disguising her appearance so that no one would indeed notice her.
She got exactly what she wanted. Now it's this short white woman's fault for disrespecting the First Lady?
As was already pointed out, Mrs. Bush the Former was old as hell. Most respectful people ask to do things for the elderly, not the other way around.
So, if Field's point is that Michelle Obama, the First Lady, was being treated with disrespect, then it must be pointed out that Michelle Obama, the First Lady, was the one who herself masked her own identity in order to blend in as a common person and not the First Lady. Her having a successful disguise is someone else's fault?
This is tantamount to Christian apologetics.
But, I get it -- I don't get it, apparently, but black folks'll understand.
Funny how the first Black FLOTUS in US history isn't "recogonized", but an overweight White one like Babs would be?
ReplyDeleteHere in the dirty south, overweight White women are like trees, they're EVERYWHERE!!! Besides tge fact that ALL of ya'll look alike, lol!!
"No one is going to asked a old women for anything. Well, except for black males has they are raping and beating the hell out of them."
ReplyDeleteI bet that sounded clever in your mind when you thought of it.
Major fail.
'But, I get it -- I don't get it, apparently, but black folks'll understand."
Well.....yes. That's exactly what it is. You will never get it, because you are not black.
It's really not that complicated.
"Funny how the first Black FLOTUS in US history isn't "recogonized", but an overweight White one like Babs would be?"
ReplyDeleteWell yes, there is that. :)
You freaking negroes are crazy.
ReplyDeleteBatshit crazy.
BTW I can conceed that the FLOTUS' race point wasn't a strong one but it's certainly one I'm familiar with.
ReplyDeleteI had an experience once of standing with my classmates, all of us in white coats (and me the only Black person), and I was the one assumed to be the nurse in the group.
This is so common particularly among educated Black women, that I now laugh in the face of ignorance rather than be bothered by it.
So, let me see if I'm understanding this correctly.
ReplyDeleteI, being a white person, will never understand it because I'm not black, which explicitly implies no whites ever will and all blacks do.
So, "All blacks are the same" from a white guy = racist summbitch, bigoted, right-wing lunatic.
"All blacks are the same" from a black guy = just how it is. It's not complicated.
Good to know. But still does nothing to address why it's racism Mrs. Obama experienced and not just a short woman asking a damn six-footer to reach something on the shelf.
Josh how do you know the woman was short?
DeleteMan you White folks are REAL good at giving the benefit of the doubt to other White folks.
What was it that Malcolm said, something to the effect of what does a White person call a negro with a PhD?

Because only blacks are capable of paranoid magical thinking?
I think not, but you sure are good at it.
And you are completely ignoring the fact that the entire story is a lie. When she told it on David Letterman in 2011, it was a happy anecdote about her helping a short women who couldn't reach something. She wasn't recognized because she was wearing a disguise.
Only now has she recast it as something racist, for the purpose of encouraging more black rage and violence.
What is wrong with you people that you put up with being manipulated so openly?

That's exactly the point Josh. IF she had recognized her as the FloTUS,she wouldn't have asked her to reach for the item.
But she didn't recognize her, and so she exercised her white privilege by asking the black tall woman to reach up for the item. Why not look for a store employee. Or do you go around asking stragers to reach up for things you can't reach. It's just not done.
Now if you're reaching and someone sees and OFFERS to help you, great, cool. But that's what store employees are for.
The person next to you might have a bad back or a condition.
This happened to me, at a store a woman asked me to reach for a heavy box for her, and I had to tell her that I couldn't.
My back and disc degenerative condition make it difficult to the point that my kids do that when I go shopping. And yet this crazy b**** asked me, without knowing me, to bring down a box even a man would have a hard time with. I mean really...
This is awkward as then credibility comes into play. These type people are usually aggressive people who think they can boss others around, and have them do their bidding.
Again, in real life Josh would you really impose upon a stranger like that? I think not. That is what the employees are for.
I realize you have fought long and hard through out this thread to win your point but, um...no..uhuh..you lose,go to a store and try it,see what you get ;*D

ReplyDeleteJosh how do you know the woman was short?

Because when Michelle Obama originally told this story in 2011, she said:
“And the only thing she said — I reached up, ’cause she was short, and I reached up, pulled it down — she said, ‘Well, you didn’t have to make it look so easy.’ That was my interaction. I felt so good. … She had no idea who I was. I thought, as soon as she walked up — I was with my assistant, and I said, ‘This is it, it’s over. We’re going to have to leave.’ She just needed the detergent.”
Why do you comment on things you haven't read?

I'm 6'4", and I have been asked many times to help a small or old person get something form a high shelf. I don't mind helping people. Where do you live where people think it is wrong to help old people?
"I realize you have fought long and hard through out this thread to win your point but, um...no..uhuh..you lose,go to a store and try it,see what you get ;*D"
ReplyDeleteI don't "fight" for anything; I simply attempt to use logic and reason.
Let's say I'm standing in a store with one other person, and there's something on the top shelf. Let's say I'm 5-3 and the other person is 6-1. They're browsing the exact same thing I am. So, I politely ask, "Could you hand me that ___."
To claim this is me exercising my privilege is beyond ridiculous and bordering on inflammatory. You need to check your privilege if you lead such a privileged life that asking a question of someone is synonymous with a gross imposition with racial undertones.
Humans are social creatures and we evolved through mass cooperation. Holding the view that one ought not attempt to illicit a stranger's cooperation is to severely limit the social capabilities of an entire species.
Again, this stuff is reading like apologetics.
A short woman asked a tall woman to reach her something. That tall woman just so happened to be the black First Lady, and the short woman just happened to be white.
Whatever happened to happenstance? Why must others seek to subscribe ulterior motives to even the most seemingly innocuous things to happen between two strangers?
Imagine this: A short white woman in the aisle with a tall black woman. The short woman needs something, but instead of asking the black woman, the white woman goes wandering around the store looking for an employee.
The cries here would be that the white woman was racist and scared of the black woman!
Headline: White People Scared of First Lady!
White people are seriously fucked whichever way they decide to carry it.
Protip for whites: Just turn around and leave and never acknowledge a black person. It's too risky.
Is this what we want in society? Honestly?
I don't. I like to mix it up with a range of people. But the more I pay attention to conventional whiny wisdom, the more I'm becoming programmed to ONLY notice race. Next time I need something, it'll be going through my mind that you can't ask a black person, "Hey, can you hand me that?" because they might decide in three years that it was racist.
"I don't "fight" for anything; I simply attempt to use logic and reason."
ReplyDeleteWell that was your first mistake, trying use reason and logic to communicate with negroes.
I'm with you PR, I NEVER ask a stranger in a store to do anything for me, that's what store employees are for.
ReplyDelete2 slice Hilly, come on and sign your name to your comments, we KNOW it's you.

ReplyDeletePerhaps comments like that is why black folks think that white folks can't simply be asking them a favor without it being racist.
I don't put it on "negroes"; I put it on a culture of victimhood. Trust me, black folks aren't the only folks thinking that this short white lady was racist and that Mrs. Obama suffered a horrible slight. Those whiny-ass, entitled, middle-to-upper-class white progressives think it too. In fact, they might be the primary reason some black folks think everything is racist; the whiny whites are constantly placating that sensibility by assuring them that everything is.
"I don't put it on "negroes"; I put it on a culture of victimhood."

Was the 'disguise' the uniform of a Target employee? Was she wearing the ID tag?
Yes? Then of course she should have been asked. NO? Then whatever the 'disguise' was, she shoudn't have been asked.
You don't know what condition a person is in. You have to tread carefully because the person may get annoyed and some people are rough when they get annoyed.
All I'm sayig is theory is one thing, but the reality and practice is quite another. Anybody that has studied a profession of any kind has learned that through experience.
Am I right Field? Is the theory and book learning of law the same as the practice? Is the theory and book learning of medicine the same as the practice? No, it's not!
So while Josh's arguments sound quite rational and plausible etc.
What I'm saying is just go out to a Target,it has to be a Target because you do not get the same kind of customers in the same mood in a Target as you would in a Brooks Brothers et al., for example.
And put this into practice. Just do it then come back and inform us of the results :) is all I'm saying.
Josh, would an older short black lady ask a younger taller white man to fetch something for her? *just thinking out loud*
ReplyDeleteWell Field for example I wouldn't, but if it was a black man I would def yes. Why because I'm such an incorrigible cougar that's why!
ReplyDelete@1:18, Blacks with White ancestors have throughout history in the US been given more educational opportunities.
ReplyDeleteBut the fact that Africans out perform Am.Blacks educationally, shoots your racist theory to hell and back.
It's not my racist theory, it's every measurement of intelligence distribution among races that's ever been done. Of course geniuses exist in every race, but if you want to compare groups it's the distribution that counts.
ReplyDeleteThe Africans that have in the past immigrated here from from Africa are by and large from the far right tail of the bell curve.
Miss Johnson, a very old black lady from up the Hill here where I live, used to shop at the Salvation Army, due to their consignment status and low prices. The SA was right beside Jack and Eddy's -- the store we all used to frequent for Phillys and OE 22s. So, my buddy and me are walking to the store, and here she comes out the SA door dragging a rolled up area rug. "Young man, young man," she said. We didn't know to which one of us she was referring, so we both walked over. "Be a dear and grab this rug," and so we grabbed it up, put it in the trunk of her Cutlass Supreme, and went on about our way.
ReplyDeleteThis was, oh, '96 maybe. All these years later, wouldn't it be something for us to put it in a book that this was an example of racism.
I don't know where other folks are from where they're beyond jaded and act is if their lives need to be led on the standard of overhyped stranger danger, but some folks grow up in more social, helpful atmospheres.
I was coming out Martins in '02 and an old white lady had a cart full of groceries beside a taxi in the quick lanes. She asked for help putting them in the trunk. I didn't feel imposed upon. I didn't think to myself, "Why don't this bitch find an employee!" I helped.
WTF is wrong with people?
Somebody give Josh the "Aiding People Award" of the year! hehehe
ReplyDeleteJosh has an answer (made up story) for everything! What an imagination! :)
Notice the "very old black lady" was shopping at a,,,wait for it..Salvation Army!
Gosh Josh, very old people usually don't even leave their homes, much less attempt to carry alone heavy rugs, which they know they need help with! Unless they are demented.
But okay I'll make out like I believe you I guess. Any more 'help' stories?
actually I like the stories. They are so picturesque :)
ReplyDeleteYeah. My elaborate imagination. You should have seen what happened directly after that. A UFO came down and fired a green beam into the road, causing a shit-storm of concrete and steel rebar shrapnel. I made a mad dash to the old lady to save her from harm's way. But just when I thought I was the hero, this old broad whipped out a purse bazooka and sent those alien motherfuckas back home with a big bizzang.
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
As I've stated numerous times, you can't win if you're white. It's a catch-22. Oh, the "problem" with this story? Racism, because of course a black person is shopping at the Salvation Army! Therefore, stereotype, and null and void, and vivid imagination, and etc.
And if you don't know how strong-willed old women are, you need to remove your head from your ass. Those old broads are tough as nails and refuse to quit. My grandmother walked all over town until she was 84 years old and couldn't. "Grandma, you need a ride?" "No, that's okay; I'm gonna walk." "But it's raining and cold!" "I got my coat, sugar."
Big-ass fake fur coat she wore year-round.
And by the bye:
ReplyDeleteAre you people so fucking lazy and full of yourselves and full of pure selfish spite that the mere act of a stranger helping a stranger seems literally unbelievable? I'll ask again: WTF is wrong with people?
A short lady asking a tall lady for help in a store, a brief 2-second act of grabbing a bottle of detergent, is being labeled a gross imposition of unadulterated privilege and racism, by people who act as if one person helping another is the same realm as Jules Verne. Guess I gotta be black to understand the dumbfuckery at play here?
So, nobody here is from the Boy Scouts and never helped an old lady cross the street? None of y'all ever picked up your neighbor's garbage can when the wind blew it in the road? None of y'all ever stopped to help someone change a tire on the side of the road, lent your phone to someone in distress, put a quarter in an expiring parking meter -- nothing? What in the ever-lovin' fuck is wrong with people?
I certainly hope I never run into any of y'all in person. Talk about shitty people.
Ummm....okay, I'll bite, u... once Iumm...lemme see,lemme see.... oy I just don't remember Josh!
ReplyDeleteI must have done at least ONE of those things, except help change a tire, but I have changed my own tire once or twice, come to think of it none of these puertorucan mofos offered any help either! Damn! I'm pissed!
But anyhooo, most everything except ask a tall lady shopper to get something down off a higher shelf, that I would not dare!
Josh, don't you understand, it's just NOT DONE okay! Come out of your little fantasy world for a bit :)and get real!
Josh said..."I got my coat, sugar."

Even in the summer she wore it???
Okaaay...
No wonder...
Okay Josh I'll leave you alone now.Carry on sugar :)
Josh, why did the black lady have to be coming out of the Salvation Army? Couldn't she be at least shopping at K-Mart or something? :)
ReplyDeleteJosh wants us to believe that his neighbor "up on the hill" is a poor, very old, black lady who is so poor she has to buy dirty rugs from the Salvation Army, that she can't even carry by herself! and that he 'the helper guy" just 'happened' to be walking by at that very moment, and took the rug and put it into the trunk of her car. He also put some groceries from another old woman in a trunk too. He's the 'helpful load that trunk guy'
ReplyDeleteWait a minute! Come to think of it, I could use Josh around here...Hey Josh ya like the tropics?
So, I guess old ladies don't shop at the Salvation Army, where prices are about 90% cheaper. I reckon it's racist now or something?
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not "up on the hill" it's "the Hill" -- our project area.
Sorry, but the overwhelming majority of people who live there are poor, and black. I guess that's fictional too.
There are no places in America where black people live in close proximity in poverty.
You people amaze the shit out of me. Truly.
It is so incredibly outlandish the idea that one person can actually help another person that it must be fiction when you hear it!
Your self-absorbed, lazy asses need to check your privilege. Life ain't about everyone else doing for you.
We also used to help Mr. Williams, our Computer teacher, cut and stack his firewood every fall. Oh, noes. Why does it have to be firewood!? What -- the guy was too poor to afford electric heat? He's gotta be living like a Revolutionary with a wood chimney!?
Whether you believe anything I say is pointless. I just hope, for your own sakes, that you don't carry this fucking entitled, every-man-for-himself attitude around life, to the point where it reaches Area 51 levels the idea of one person helping another person.
Ironically enough, I thought most of you black folks were liberals. I expect greedy conservatives to balk at the idea of helping out one another, but not you so-called progressives who want America to be a better, more inclusive, more prosperous place. How the fuck does it get that way when the mere mention of one person helping another reads like pure fiction?
Check yourselves.
