Steve didn't own any slaves, and Randy thinks that the president is jut like Hitler.

You can never know what is really in a person's heart, but you can always get an idea by their actions.

For instance, if someone says that they are not a racist or that they don't hold views on matters of race that are repugnant to the rest of us, always judge them by their actions.

You know where this is going, right? Yep, Steve Scalise, the majority whip who has now taken his Stormfront act to Washington.

"Six years before he spoke to a white supremacist group, while he was a state legislator, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) voted against a resolution apologizing for slavery, according to a 1996 article from New Orleans's Times-Picayune.

Scalise later backed a watered-down version that expressed “regret” for slavery. But the article identifies him as one of two lawmakers on the Louisiana House and Governmental Affairs Committee who tried to kill the original resolution, which apologized to African-Americans for the state’s role “in the establishment and maintenance of the institution of slavery.”

According to the paper, Scalise argued that there was no reason to apologize for something that had been done more than a century ago, before he was born.

Why are you asking me to apologize for something I didn't do and had no part of?” Scalise is quoted as saying in the newspaper. “I am not going to apologize for what somebody else did.” [Source]

That is a popular refrain from the racialist: "I didn't own slaves. Why should I feel bad or apologize for something that was done to them?"

Ok, if this was the only thing that Steve Scalise said-- or did--- I would be inclined to at least listen when house Negroes like Cedric Richmond declare that they know him and can vouch for his racist- free heart.

But when you vote against a holiday for Martin Luther (the) King, and speak to a group of white supremacist, you have pretty much hit the racist trifecta in my book.

Honestly, it just might be time for your party to start looking for another whip.

Staying with my friends in the republican party, I am moved to write about yet another congressman who was elected by the people of Texas to go to Washington and pass laws that would benefit them.

Unfortunately for them, though, this particular gentleman (and I use that term loosely) is more concerned with taking politics into the gutter with his inflammatory and obscene  rhetoric.

"Congressional Democrats and Jewish groups had denounced the comment Rep. Randy Weber sent on his official Twitter account Monday night.

"I need to first apologize to all those offended by my tweet," the Texas congressman said in a written statement, which he also tweeted. "It was not my intention to trivialize the Holocaust nor to compare the President to Adolf Hitler."

The tweet on @TXRandy14 read: "Even Adolph Hitler thought it more important than Obama to get to Paris. (For all the wrong reasons.) Obama couldn't do it for right reasons"

It refers to the German leader's tour of the vanquished city after his troops invaded in World War II, and Obama's failure to join dozens of world leaders at an anti-terror march through Paris on Sunday.

In demanding an apology, Rep. Steve Israel, a Democrat, called the tweet "vile" and said it "stoops to a new low level by desecrating the victims of the Holocaust to make a political point."

Robert Singer, chief executive of the World Jewish Congress, said that "putting Mr. Obama on a level with the most evil mass murderer of all times crosses a red line."

In his statement, Weber said that "the mention of Hitler was meant to represent the face of evil that still exists in the world today."

"I now realize that the use of Hitler invokes pain and emotional trauma for those affected by the atrocities of the Holocaust and victims of anti-Semitism and hate," he said.

Asked Tuesday if he had any reaction to Weber's Tweet, White House spokesman Josh Earnest replied, "I don't." [Source]

Mr. Weber, you messed up. You should have just called him a nigger and you wouldn't have had anything to worry about.

    And Hitler wasn't the "most evil mass murderer of all times", that title belongs to either Stalin or Mao, who were in business a lot longer than Hilter.

    Neither of these gentlemen should apologize as they did nothing wrong. Those on the left have said/done things far more offensive, repeatedly.

    FN seems to be upset that whites are no longer willing to reflexively scoop up heaping spoonfuls of collective generational guilt.

    How did de Blasio demonize "broken windows"? He hired Bill Bratton, the originator of that whole broken windows policing philosophy, as his police chief.

    What de Blasio campaigned for mayor against was the completely illegal stop-and-frisk philosophy of Bratton's predecessor, Ray Kelly.

    One can agree or disagree with the strategy of broken windows (aka "lets aggressively enforce laws against petty crime") but it is not the same as Kelly's open endorsement of racial profiling (aka "lets just hassle everyone who looks black or Latino").

I am quite happy every time a NYPD officer "hassles" a black or latino who is in turn, "hassling", shaking down, threatening commuters and/or pedestrians. I say ... more, please!!

    And, YES, the tickets and citations are a big complaint of "profiling" by scofflaws in NYC.

    The ticket-writing is well organized and coordinated. Multitudes are shuttled to specific neighborhoods, and fan out, ticket books in hands. Even other NYC workers, like Sanitation workers, can write tickets for parking, etc. Show me the money, mo money, mo money!

    DiBlasio talks a good progressive game, but at the end of the day, he wants the money over "ideals".

    Just wait until the other shoe drops and tourism dries up. I know many who work in the hospitality industry, and hotels are experiencing cancellations out the wazoo.

    It will take years for NYC to dig itself out of the Progtastic hole they've dug for themselves.

    US Constitution, Amendment 4:

    "Every subject has a right to be secure from all unreasonable searches, and seizures of his person, his houses, his papers, and all his possessions."

    Searching individuals who have given no indication of committing a crime is an unreasonable search, and therefore illegal.

    US Constitution, Amendment 14:

    "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

    Investigating people differently based on race = denying equal protection of the law, which is illegal.

    Racial profiling is illegal. Hence, whether or not it works is utterly irrelevant. If cops were able to pull random searches of everyone's homes at 3 AM every night, I'm sure they'd also catch more criminals. But they can't. Because it's illegal.

    Laws don't go away just because you don't like them.

  54. One should always apologize for what one has done wrong, and never apologize at all for what one has not done.

    Maybe it infuriates a lot of people that someone wouldn't want to apologize for slavery. I don't begrudge that. But I wouldn't apologize for it either.

    Why should I? I was born in 1980. I never had a slave. It was not my actions nor my inactions that led to or perpetuated the keeping of any slaves -- American slaves, Slav slaves, Roman slaves, or any slaves.

    Does anyone who wasn't a slave want someone else to apologize for slavery? If so, I'd like to hear the reasoning behind it. (Though I understand this is the wrong blog on which to ask a question. The best I could hope for is the anonymous triplets acting a fool with 40 consecutive spam posts.)

    If he spoke to a white supremacist group, hold the fucker's feet to the fire. But that he didn't want to apologize for slavery -- I'm not seeing where a fake show of put-on sympathy would do anything but serve as an act of falsely accusing a modern government for crimes of a government long since dead.

    Totally legal. Double jeopardy only applies to trying someone again for the same offense. Federal civil rights violations are a different crime from manslaughter/murder.

    (On top of that, double jeopardy only applies to acquittals, and some of these individuals haven't been acquitted of anything. A grand jury declined to charge Darren Wilson, but it would be totally legal to call another Missouri grand jury and attempt to indict him again for manslaughter or murder.)

    In any event, none of them has been charged with a federal crime as yet. But if this does happen, we have these things called trials that are intended to determine guilt. Eric Holder does not just get to chuck people in jail on a whim because (in your mind) he has a vendetta against Evil Whitey.

    Rev. Wright only gave a handful of controversial sermons. Conservative oppo researchers dug these out of the archive of many, many other of his sermons. On a typical Sunday, Rev. Wright doesn't address the congregation about fire and brimstone raining down on the Evil Empire of America. That's just not what that church is like, no matter what conservative talking heads want to pretend.
