A "Celebrity Muslim" drops some wisdom.

It is not one of his classic skyhooks; it's actually better.

"Former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stopped by Morning Joe on Monday, presumably to promote his new children’s book, Stealing the Game, but the hosts also asked him to discuss a recent column he wrote for Time about the role that Islam does or does not play in terror attacks like the one against Charlie Hebdo.

“Another horrendous act of terrorism has taken place and people like myself who are on media speed-dial under ‘Celebrity Muslims’ are thrust in the spotlight to angrily condemn, disavow, and explain—again—how these barbaric acts are in no way related to Islam,” Abdul-Jabbar, who converted to Islam in the late 1960s, wrote last month.

Asked by Mika Brzezinski to explain what he believes is behind the actions of a group like ISIS, he said, “It’s a play for money and power, and these people try to impose their will on people so people will listen to them, and they can be in charge. That’s all it’s about. They’ve taken on a fascist attitude and a fascist approach to everything. You do what we say or you die.”

“You can make parallels to things that have happened here in America. Like the Ku Klux Klan saying they are the Christian knights,” Abdul-Jabbar added later. “And they do not practice Christianity.”

Like President Barack Obama, who drew parallels between what we are seeing with Muslim extremism today and what the world saw during the Christian Crusades, Abdul-Jabbar went on to reference those centuries-old events to make the point that people have always used religion “as an excuse” to commit horrendous violence.

“It’s not an excuse, it’s no excuse and oppressing one group means that we have to look out, all groups have to get together to fight that type of oppression, because we all should be free,” he said." [Source]

Speaking of the Klan, it's nice to see that there might be some justice for some of the people who were lynched at the Moore's Ford Bridge in Georgia.

"Moore Ford Bridge lynchingUS authorities are investigating whether some of those responsible for one of the American south’s most notorious mass lynchings are still alive, in an attempt to finally bring prosecutions over the brutal unsolved killings.

FBI agents have questioned a man in Georgia about the Moore’s Ford Bridge lynching of 1946, the man told the Guardian. The man was among several in their 80s and 90s named in connection with the incident on a list given to the US Department of Justice by civil rights activists.

Speaking at his home in Monroe, 10 miles west of the lynching site, Charlie Peppers denied taking part in the killings of four African Americans who were tied up and shot 60 times by a white mob.
“Heck no,” said Peppers, 86, when asked if he was involved. “Back when all that happened, I didn’t even know where Moore’s Ford was.” Peppers, who was 18 at the time of the lynching, said: “The blacks are blaming people that didn’t even know what happened back then.” [Source]

You are right sir, but "The blacks" will not stop until there is justice.

"Peppers was accused of being involved by his nephew, Wayne Watson. Video of Watson, 57, claiming in 2013 that Peppers and several other men from the area had spoken of their involvement in the killings was given to the US Department of Justice by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

“All through my life, I heard them talk about the Moore’s Ford and the lynching,” said Watson, in an April 2013 interview. “I’m tired of it, when you go through life, and you’re living with lies.”

Watson alleged that several of the men he named were Klan members. When asked this week Peppers denied he is or ever was a member of the Ku Klux Klan."

Riiight.

Sorry, I am a little cynical when it comes to older Southern white males these days. Stories like this one  helped to make me this way.

So let me get the negro position clear: According to Obama, the Field Negro, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, there is no moral basis for fighting ISIS, or even criticizing them, because...the Klan.

Because there ever was such a thing as the KKK, which, by the way, the Federal government effectively destroyed, America cannot ever defend itself from anything.

Negro logic is a death sentence for the country.

What were those who ratified the 15th amendment ever thinking?

Why aren't you cynical about the young Southern white males? I mean, they are the ones shooting bm to death. And they have the justice system and a blue uniform to hide behind.

Make no mistake...the young ones are just as bad if not worse.

Mr Field, celebrity Charles Krauthammer also dropped some wisdom re: Kareem's comparison of ISIS/Islam to KKK and Christianity.

I must say Krauthammer put the whole thing into proper context, proving Kareem's comparisons were far off the mark. "Kareem had a great jump left hook but his analysis is way off," says Krauthammer as he proceeded to tear Kareem's analysis apart.

Brother Field, I cringed when Krauthammer slammed Kareem. I actually felt sorry him.

  4. I always wondered if the guys who committed these acts told their children and grandchildren and if they did how would they react? Glad to see one man come forward for justice and we need to find every single one of these killers and bring them to justice. Time to acknowledge what happened and find some healing. Black lives do matter.

I'm pretty skeptical that there's much satisfaction to be had in prosecuting most of those Jim Crow atrocities in 2015. At this point, all of the main culprits are dead, so it's impossible to go after those folks. That opportunity is gone.

The only people still alive from this era are the littlest fish -- people who were just teenagers back then and might only have been along for the ride when the lynchings happened.

And all this assumes you can even prove a crime from 70 years ago. That's no easy task.

Riiiiight. Criminals. As I mentioned a couple days ago, lynchings were quite a bit more complicated than that.

In the case of the Moore’s Ford Bridge lynching, one of the individuals killed had indeed been accused of a crime. He had allegedly stabbed a white man who'd been having an affair with his wife. So let's say, for the sake of argument, that you think that such an act deserved the death penalty.

How do you know that black man was actually guilty? You think a posse of Klansmen was more likely to accurately determine guilt than an actual court?

And what about the other three black people killed along with him, who weren't even accused of anything. They deserved to die just for knowing the guy?

You have a strange idea of justice, I'd say.

Whites, including the KKK were innocent in the sense they only hung Blacks they felt were criminals. Seeing how they were always right, there was never a need for Negroes to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. That 'privilege' was strictly for "Whites Only".

I have often wondered whether there is a God or not. I have faith but I also have doubt because of the evil dark horrific history of America.

  10. Field, good on you for schooling the masses about how ISIS is the same thing as the klan was to our parents and grandparents. The tactics are the same ISIS uses social media to spread fear, the klan used the social media of their time to do the same. The pictures and body parts sold spread fear throughout the south. Keep on it man.

    Not even close.

Like purple cow, i see patterns.

The left continues to avoid criticizing Muslims and the violence that is done in the name of Islam. Why?

The left sees Muslims has a oppressed minority and growing voting bloc.

The left also shares Muslims anti-semantic viewpoints and their hatred of Christians.

    A. The Klan

    B. Black people

    He's a hint-

The Left reflexively sides with the enemies of America, even when they are as irredeemably evil as ISIS.

Why? Because the focus must always be on the Real Enemy, their cartoon view of 1950's white, Christian, heterosexual, middle class, prosperous, and happy America.

The America that of its own volition reformed itself to right the injustices that kept it from living up to its own professed principles.

There is nothing America can do to satisfy the Left short of dissolving itself. The Left's goal is the destruction of America, therefore there can be no other evil in the world other than America.

To this end, any defense of America is considered illegitimate, and any sins of the world in the present day are trumped by the sins of America's past.

We have sacrificed half our Constitutional freedoms in the quest to make society 'equal', and the other half are under assault. We have spent trillions of dollars we don't have. We elected a black man President. But still, ...the Klan.

What may boggle your mind—because it boggles mine, now that I think about it—is that men like Charlie Peppers might have lied for years about being part of the lynch mob because it conferred SOCIAL STATUS among his cracker friends. I'm saying there was a certain kind of human who not only wouldn't have been ashamed to have participated, they would have been PROUD to talk about it later, or even to say they were there when they weren't. Like it was the Battle of San Juan Hill or something.

And folks have trouble believing cops can kill in cold blood? Wake up.

For the newbies on site. Look for the book- Without Sanctuary. Some pictures will show hundreds of people at a lynching.

Also the 8,000 had the protection of the governments.. local, state and national.Killing unarmed citizen is akin to lynching. And yes, I am fully aware that the same reference can now be affixed to behaviors of a few of my kindred. Thank goodness the support that the Klan had is not present with today's Klansmen of color.

    ----

Minimizing and excusing the existential threat posed by a militant, popular and growing ideology like radical Islam by pointing to the faults of one's own culture, some from a thousand years ago, is in fact enabling and thereby "siding with" ISIS.

    Our own President does this.

His message of "Get off your high horse, you are just as bad" is not the kind of rallying cry that engenders the resolve needed to deal with these gleeful butchers.

There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world.

Only a small percentage endorse the tactics of ISIS, but a majority embraces the goals of ISIS: A universal caliphate of Islam.

At the very least, there are hundreds of millions of people who tacitly support what ISIS is doing.

    From the BBC:

Jihadist militants from Islamic State (IS) have burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi, the local police chief says.

Exactly who these people were and why they were killed is not clear, but Col Qasim al-Obeidi said he believed some were members of the security forces.

IS fighters captured much of the town, near Ain al-Asad air base, last week.

  30. "how these barbaric acts are in no way related to Islam"

    Umm, says who?

Sorry, I'm not giving people a pass just because "Muslim" has been hijacked by the progressive left to mean explicitly a racial minority -- which, by the way, has white people living in so much fucking fear that in England they allowed a Pakistani child rape gang to rape over 1,000 children solely because they didn't want to be thought of as racists by arresting Pakistanis!

So, there's a guy who tells me that he's feeding the homeless for Jesus. And there's another guy who tells me he's beating his wife for Jesus. Why should I believe the feed-the-homeless guy over the beats-his-wife guy? Because he's doing something to help rather than harm?

Fuck that. If the woman beater wants to ascribe his motives to religion, then those are his motives. All the homeless-feeding folks in the world cannot wiggle their way out of that guy's motives with sophistry. They're that guy's fucking motives! He's whippin' a bitch's ass for Jesus. It is what it is.

Same thing with ISIS. Maybe there are many more Muslims against them than for them, but they don't get to tell the entire world what's for Islam and what isn't for Islam. Are they Allah? Are they Muhammed? No? Then STFU!

The vanity of religious people gets on my last fucking nerve. The Pope is God's earthly emissary, huh? Says who? The fucking Papacy? These retarded assholes would be hilarious if they weren't so tragic. So many different religious people interpret their religion in different ways. None of them know a god. None of them talk to a god. None of them know if a god even exists. Yet every last one of them believes that they're the one doing what a god wants them to do.

So, the aged star formerly known as Lewis Alcindor, why do you get to speak for what Islam "is" and not ISIS?

ISIS is busy telling the world that they ARE Islam, that they ARE what Muslims are supposed to be about. Why must the rest of us always pretend to be mentally handicapped adults who can't use logic in these situations?

ISIS has every bit the claim on Islam as any other Muslim. None of them speak to Allah. None of them have the Prophet on speed dial. Just a bunch of scientifically illiterate people stuck in the Bronze-Age, raised on fairy tales, who choose to interpret said fairy tales differently.

Interpretation A doesn't get to say that Interpretation B is wrong.

    You sophists help nothing.

Yes it's true the rumors you have heard are true okay!!! What did you expect. Yes it's correct Lee Daniels is the latest victim of the Illuminati / Cabal puppet scheme to distract black America. Yes it'strue blacks were getting to on their game in the protest movement again with all the hands up and "I can't breathe stuff" okay. Besides has anyone noticed no one has announced a run for the president gig. In the case of the last 4 elections the elections were basically already in full swing by now. So what does Fox's new show empire have to do with it? First of all Daniels needed the money. Great movies but not exactly big office draws in terms of cash flow. I mean admit it you saw Precious on bootleg too right? So washed up Daniels tired of no money and Oscar snubs "needs to gets paid" okay. Next a bunch of New Yorkers running around with I can't breathe t shirts all the time means the hip hop culture of mass materialism, sex and murder and drugs could go under. I mean it's a dangerous thing when a black man wakes up right?? Next the real folks running the power plays can let the awareness happen right ? It would be like disclosure of alien races right? Bottom Line the concept of Empire is born. I mean the enemy knows negroes right. Throw some Gucci, Prada, Bling Bling, great lyrics by Timerbland and wrap it all up in some light skinned pussy and you have blacks distracted for months while the neo cons launch their next candidate. Everyone goes soft on "I can't breathe" and Eric and Michaels deaths are in vain. Everything back to normal. NOt to mention that the show Empire washes out the true black middle class hard working folks who actually don't strip or sell drugs to make it in this country, it makes the real Italian Mafia of New York, La and North Carolina look legit and Fox gets to make big bucks off of the exploitation of black folks. So massa everything just fine ole darky happy with his gin and his TV show about grab and go and no one gonna evolve around here ole massa no sir no one gonna evolve around here. WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE!!!
