Oh those republicans.
O wait, there is a response.
"Rudy Giuliani is not backing down from his comments that President Obama doesn’t love America. And to anyone who might think his comments were racist, Giuliani has a very odd reason why he doesn’t think so.
Now, for the record, it’s unclear how many people were actually calling Giuliani’s words racist (most of the posts about Giuliani and racism today are in reaction to his newer comments). But nevertheless, when speaking with The New York Times yesterday, the former New York mayor completely dismissed the idea that anything he said was about race.
And here’s his explanation why:
“'Some people thought it was racist — I thought that was a joke, since he was brought up by a white mother, a white grandfather, went to white schools, and most of this he learned from white people. This isn’t racism. This is socialism or possibly anti-colonialism.”'
Got it!
Speaking of republicans, Bill O'Lie-ly seems to be upset with Mother Jones.
I guess the truth hurts.
"The Bill O’Reilly dispute with Mother Jones just keeps getting more intense.
For those not up to speed, the magazine’s editor David Corn alleged on Thursday that the Fox News host had embellished his experiences as a CBS reporter covering wars in El Salvador and the Falkland Islands. O’Reilly hit back via phone interviews with the media, calling the Mother Jones charges “bullshit,” accusing Corn and others of “gutter-sniping” at him despite O’Reilly’s record of being “absolutely accurate.”
As we reported earlier today, the Factor is set to address the controversy once more, but this time during the “Talking Points Memo” portion of his nightly broadcast. The full transcript has made its way online in advance of the 8 p.m. ET broadcast.
From the outset, O’Reilly throws bombs at Mother Jones (“a far-left magazine” with “low circulation”), David Corn (“liar”), and media outlets that have given favorable coverage to the allegations.
“I’m sorry,” tells his audience. “I have to deal with this garbage tonight.”
He goes on to explain his side of the story:
Basically David Corn, a liar, says that I exaggerated situations in the Falklands War and Salvadoran War. Here’s the truth: Everything I’ve said about my reportorial career — everything — is true. 33 years ago in June, Argentina surrendered to Great Britain, ending the Falklands War. I was covering the conflict from Argentina and Uruguay for CBS News. After learning of the surrender, angry mobs in Buenos Aires stormed the presidential palace — the Casa Rosada — trying to overthrow the government of General Leopoldo Galtieri. I was there on the street with my camera crews. The violence was horrific, as Argentine soldiers fired into the crowd, who were responding with violent acts of their own. My video of the combat led the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather that evening and, later on, I filed a report that ran nationwide. That’s what happened. I never said I was on the Falkland Islands, as Corn purports. I said I covered the Falklands War, which I did.**O’Reilly will present a CBS internal memo from 33 years ago that praises his coverage abroad. “[D]idn’t have the time last night but would like to say many thanks for the riot piece last night,” the telex reads. “WCBS-TV and WCAU-TV both took the entire piece, instead of stripping it for pix. They called to say thanks for a fine piece. Thanks again. Your piece made the late feed, a winner last night.”
He will also present a letter he wrote in 1982 to CBS News’ then-chief describing how “the riot had been very bad, we were gassed, shot at, and I had the best vantage point in which to report the story.”
O’Reilly will cite these documents as “rock solid proof” that Corn and others have smeared him. “I had to spend hours last night on the phone with various reporters and crawling around my basement covered with dust to find documents from 33 years ago,” he laments. “All because an irresponsible, guttersnipe — a far-left zealot who has attacked Fox News many times before — spit this stuff out on the net.”
He also attacks CNN’s media reporter, Brian Stelter, alleging he’s a “far-left zealot masquerading as a journalist” for having picked up the Mother Jones allegations last night and discussed them on television.
“Real journalists knew this story was BS from the jump,” O’Reilly adds." [Source]
And "real journalists" don't make up stories.

Whatever, Rudy.
ReplyDeleteNothing new here. Somehow, whenever conservatives criticize America, which they do regularly, that's out of love. When liberals do it, they must hate our country. (Obviously, the two groups do not have the same criticisms.)
How can one tell that conservatives love America so much? I guess we're supposed to draw that conclusion from their willingness to look like jackasses wearing American flag-themed clothing everywhere. American flag jackass-wear is really, really important. (Unless you're from the South, and then it's Confederate flag jackass-wear. How patriotic is that, wearing the colors of a country that came into existence to give America the finger?!)
Also because something something Liberty something something Founding Fathers something something Jesus something something Guns.
Only Republicans like Guliani can love the country properly huh? I guess it's also impossible to be racist against a blah person raised by white people. The gop clown car is just revving up I see.

Please. Jeremiah Wright's extreme political views are not Obama's, nor those of most liberals.
He was just a convenient bucket of mud for the McCain campaign to hurl at Obama. Didn't work, either.
Rudy's a schmuck, but is he wrong?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say Obama hates America. But why do you seek to fundamentally transform something you love?
Think about it. Is there anything you love in your life that you want to fundamentally transform into something completely different?
Holy shit on a stick, Batman. I know Obama gets the "It's a black thing" pass, but at least judge a person for the person.
There doesn't seem to be much Obama likes about America. He didn't like its healthcare. He didn't like its immigration. He didn't like its regulations. He didn't like its foreign policy. He didn't like its opposing party. He didn't like its educational system. He didn't like its Bible-thumping, gun-clinging contingent.
Honestly, what did he love about it?
Obama undoubtedly loves the vision of the America he hopes to create. But I'm not sure anyone can argue that Obama actually loves the America he took the helm of as its Commander-in-Chief.
"Please. Jeremiah Wright's extreme political views are not Obama's"
My uncle was a preacher growing up, heading a Baptist church. When he left his wife for a younger women, people left the church. His views were not the views the members wanted to share. If Obama's views aren't at least somewhat similar to Wright's, why stay?
I personally don't find Wright any more radical than most run-of-the-mill religious folks. Being a skeptic, someone who believes in Noah's flood is every bit as "radical" to me as someone who screams "goddamn America!" But the question remains. Why stick around if someone is espousing views you don't like?
If Field started tomorrow singing the praises of the right-wing, how many parrots would keep coming back?
"You can just sic Joe Biden on him."
ReplyDeleteCreepy Joe is the man you call when you want someone to molest your wife and/or daughter in full view of the world, without feminists ever saying a word about the objective creepiness of his hands-on introductions to random women.
In a legit fight, though, I think Rudy wins in two hits. Rudy his Joe, Joe hits his Life Alert button.
When Rudy Giuliani rushed to ship off the World Trade Center steel beams to be melted down, he committed felony destruction of crime scene evidence. I would say it was treason. He certainly doesn't love America. David Corn is a corporate tool. His "Hubris" was a complete whitewash of the lead up to the Iraq War. O'Reilly openly was a war propagandist. Corn pretended to expose the deceit while covering it up. All three of these liars should be in jail.

Of course they are. Obama sat in that church for 20 years. Jeremiah Wright baptized his children. Obama called Wright his "mentor".
They are brothers in hate.

ReplyDeleteThis might be the funniest single paragraph I've ever read on this site, and to think I once thought Josh was smart.
**
Obama doesn't like America's health care system therefore he doesn't love America!
Y'know, the health care system that was the most expensive in the world and gave third world outcomes!
**
Obama doesn't like immigration policies, therefore he doesn't love America!
Y'know, the immigration laws that every fast-food store and middle-class person in America exploited to get cheap labour.
**
Obama doesn't like regulations, therefore he doesn't love America!
Y'know 'cuz Republicans love them some regulations, LOVE 'EM, but that's 'cuz they love America proper.
**
Obama didn't like it's foreign policy, therefore he doesn't love America!
Y'know the foreign policy that started illegal wars, invaded no less than THIRTY sovereign nations since WW2, has de-stabilized the entire middle-east, led to the death of over 600,000 Iraqis and turned northern Mexico into a giant abattoir.
**
Obama didn't like the opposing party, therefore he doesn't love America!
Because as we have seen here, the Republicans LOVE Democrats, and their hearts are full of love for Obama in particular!
**
Obama doesn't like it's education system, therefore he doesn't love America!
This would be the education system that delivers literacy and maths skills well below the OECD average.
**
Josh, you drongo. Sometimes loving somebody means telling them the truth of where they are going wrong, even if that's a truth they don't want to hear.
Not quite sure I understand that logic, either.
ReplyDeleteI mean it would seem to me that he loves it even more if he wants to change it for the good.
As opposed to the people who just want the status quo, which clearly isn't working.
This beef between Bill O'Reilly and David Corn is perplexing beyond words. There are times I've enjoyed Mother Jones and O'Reilly Factor; yet on several occasions, the screeching of both is similar to scratching nails across a chalk board.
ReplyDeleteWhen Brian Williams' involvement in the Iraq War was exposed as fabrications, O'Reilly actually imparted a fair commentary about Williams' downfall. Despite the balanced perspective, it appears public figures - conservatives and progressives - are now under intense scrutiny for anything in their background that can be construed as "stolen valor."
In the 02/20/15 segment of "Talking Points" (shout out to Mr. Field for the link) O'Reilly indeeds clarifies the communication exhange with CBS news executives extolling his coverage of the Argentine surrender to the British.
However, a case could be made about excerpts cited in his book alluding to having witnessed "actual combat" when in fact his reporting in Argentina were the riots that ensured in reaction to the country's surrunder to the British.
A better question is: Why does it seem as though America is so enraptured with military or exposure to combat at the expense of other notable acts of valor?
Okay, TPC -- you tell me, then. What did Obama "love" about America?
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely fucking awesome at reading other people's shit and criticizing what they write, but let's hear a fucking original idea roll out of your head. Where's The Proactive Cow willing to offer everyone an opinion rather than a criticism of somebody else's material?
That dude doesn't have a pair swinging, is the problem.
Let's hear you make the case that Obama loved America.
And don't give me any shit about love for a nation being a default position or something. That's on par with religious people saying the default position is god.
"Sometimes loving somebody means telling them the truth of where they are going wrong, even if that's a truth they don't want to hear."
This isn't what he fucking said, though, is it? You dingo.
Nothing about "truth." Nothing like Field's bullshit as if he just wanted to perform a tune-up. To fundamentally transform something is to completely change the central operating principles of something. Its primarily aspects -- its main points.
Holy shit, you useless apologists. I see neither of you answered the fucking question.
Would you fundamentally change something you love?
But, of course you wouldn't. And acknowledging you wouldn't means you've cancelled your own basis for going line-item with the leftist explanations of Obama's desire to change.
Like our healthcare that "gave third world outcomes!" or illegal wars -- must harp on about wars. Must. Harp. On.
Which areas did he like/love, then? C'mon. That yiseng cow calls Purple Cow the smartest black on the Internet. Seems like the most prone to quibbling to me, but maybe he'll break down and tell me the aspects about America which Obama actually loved.
And, seriously, a huge LMMFAO @ an Obama hater calling me a coward, while Obama nut lickers criticize me for daring to wonder what it is about America Obama actually loves.
ReplyDeleteThe man's a polarizing sumbitch, to be sure, and most of it isn't his fault whatsoever. It's the irrational haters and the unquestioning lovers.
@Josh... I composed the post below in reply today's blog regarding Rudy, coming across your comment afterward. Though you are a tough cookie, perhaps my post could shed light on loving America yet still appreciating the need for growth and improvement...
ReplyDeleteMoreover, as supposed grown adults with access to a vast arsenal of information tools, would be great moving past the sandbox mentality now in the guise of "I'm More American Than You Are..."
For those of us supporting President Obama, millions of us are gainfully employed with good health care, relatively safe communities that even provide quality education for our children. And guess what? We embody the melting pot in all it's rich diversity because like "Our President," We Love America Too.
No shame in our game acknowledging America's flaws. When all is said and done, this nation is our home; and those of us who can envision the greater good will always empathize with individuals and families who have no or limited access to quality healthcare, education, housing or in the case another blog cited, safe and sound environments.
And contrary to the misguided narrative of "Gimme My Free Stuff," those of us who are at least trying to understand the complex dynamics of crime and poverty support President Obama's vision in fostering policies that convey America is really "All That And A Bag Of Chips" when it comes to empowering all her citizens.
Conservative or liberal, the president still sits on the toilette like the rest of us, for which the scent is not a top-of-the-line fragrance. Even liberals/progressive have not been happy campers at times; though we support "Our President."
Look, I started out my original comment by saying that I won't say Obama hates America. Not because I'm a "coward," as I've been libeled, but because I don't believe he does.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm not blind to the man himself -- neither through visceral hatred or unadulterated admiration. And I contend that a person does not seek to fundamentally transform that which he loves.
Pointing out what needs fixing and suchlike is par for the course. But we're not talking about a man who claimed America needed a few tune-ups. We're talking about a man who claimed America needed to be fundamentally transformed.
How does one love something yet want it completely changed per its primary functions?
This is like me sick of squeaking floors and a leaking pipe, so I say the entire house needs to be torn down and rebuilt. No. If it's just those problems, I'll point out those problems. But the way Obama approached America, he treated it like a condemned property.
What does he love about America? It's not the idea of American exceptionalism. It isn't any of the things I mentioned above. It isn't America's media. It isn't the current marketplace. It isn't the idea of getting wealthy through capitalism. It isn't any progress that we've made socially. What does he love about America that's so out there for all to see? Not its values or systems or infrastructure.
What, then, does he love about America?
That America elected him President?
"Would you fundamentally change something you love?"
ReplyDeleteTwo things.
1. Obama has not fundamentally changed America.
2. Hell yeah, if that thing that needed changing was going to destroy the thing I loved.
"What, then, does he love about America?
ReplyDeleteThat America elected him President?"
I think you've just answered your own question.
@Josh.....The indignity of being falsely labeled a coward is understandable. Not cool at all... And countless others join you in wondering what the president actually loves about America that any "fundamental" change would only dilute that definitive essence or uniqueness.
ReplyDeleteSome of us are parents that grew with our children loving Disney movies. There's a lyric in the song of the Princess and the Frog that goes "Dig A Little Deeper." One cannot cite the number of speeches and excerpts where the president phrases a sentence about America with "No where on earth is there a country that_________" (insert superlative).
Could it be upon hearing "the fixes," most of the critics are not hearing the things the president says that exults Americs's values, greatness, uniqueness and other attributes that, if changed, would no longer be America?
The thing that I have noticed about Obama is that he somewhat lacks guile, lacks subterfuge, the quality of quietly swimming beneath the waters to effect changes.
ReplyDeleteMany presidents before him have implemented changes, fundamental changes. They have not broadcast them or given an inkling as to what was happening.Yet they were not called out as he constantly is.
Why is he so controversial then? Part of it is because he's black, no matter if his mother was white, he is black, his wife and daughters are black, and this fact alone is enough to cause color arousal and suspicion in a large part of the US as well as his peers in the government, as has been case many times and very contentiously.
Added to the fact that as a man and human being he is bound to feel the sting of the rejection of him and his family because of color, and be hurt by it. A fact that may or may not cause him to be a bit more blunt and defensive.
I think he calls it as he sees it. He doesn't hem and haw,and this is a minus. Every person in his position has to have subterfuge and hypocrisy. In other words be a good liar. Because not all decisions will sit well with everyone, he lacks that to a degree. And this coupled with color is a combo that has not sat well with many.
In other words the odds were stacked against him from the beginning. IMHO
"2. Hell yeah, if that thing that needed changing was going to destroy the thing I loved."
ReplyDeleteSo, if something needs fundamental change, what do you love about it? Say it's your wife. You wake up one day and say, "Baby, I'm going to fundamentally transform you."
Good luck with all that.
"That America elected him President?"
I think you've just answered your own question."
So, you mean all those Michele Obama criticisms that were once called unfounded are actually not only legitimate but are supposed to be used to show that Obama loves America? So, Obama loves that America has a system where a celebrity can be voted into public office.
Boy, you got me there. But if that's the entire extent of Obama's love, then that's not saying much. How would he have felt about America had McCain or Romney won?
It's like loving Monopoly only if you win at it. Do you really love it, or do you love winning?
As I said, I don't doubt that Obama loves his vision of America. Where quotas see that equal portions of everyone are represented; where the wealthy pay enough taxes to satiate his spending; where kind words stop radicalism; where education is always free; where entitlement classes are provided opportunities via larger entitlements; where America accepts everyone into its borders and provides benefits to instantly propel them to the middle class; where America is just another random nation, no better or worse, and certainly not a superpower or moral authority.
Hey, he'd probably cream his jeans on the daily if all that were realized. But in terms of pre-Obama-fiddled-with America, I can't figure out what it was he loved about it. Save, of course, that he was named its present after being one of the most worthless Senators in office.
"Could it be upon hearing "the fixes," most of the critics are not hearing the things the president says that exults Americs's values, greatness, uniqueness and other attributes that, if changed, would no longer be America?"
ReplyDeleteLike?
If there are things Obama really loves about America, I'm not understanding why you folks aren't listing them off.
I personally think he's a bit indifferent on most things considered "American," and that he envisions a USA based on social justice where those with means provide for those without, and where the federal government is the mechanism by which "fairness" is dealt out.
"And this coupled with color is a combo that has not sat well with many."
ReplyDeleteNobody, save the old guard of the racist right, gives a good goddamn about anyone's skin color, even the president's.
Equality means a person can eat shit just like everyone else and not have it be about their skin color.
Left alone, we're perfectly capable of coming up through life respecting one another despite our differences. It isn't until the academic class forces racial differences down our throats that we start focusing on nothing but those differences.
Here's the America a lot of folks seem to want:

Interesting you didn't try to defend Obama from being called unpatriotic, instead you took the alternative option and attacked the messenger.

Oh, he's plenty devious, and lies like a rug, but you are right that his arrogance and immaturity prevent him from getting a lot of things done. He could have achieved historic change had he been willing to compromise and actually work with the other side. Instead, his "fuck you, I won" attitude cost him any shot any shot at greatness. That, and his incredibly narrow ideological vision that he clung to. For him, it's always 1984 at Columbia University.
"So, if something needs fundamental change, what do you love about it?"
ReplyDeleteIf this is a serious question it demonstrates a quite astonishing lack of emotional maturity. How old are you, Josh?
We beat Pakistan last night, Field. The show is finally on the road.
ReplyDelete"it demonstrates a quite astonishing lack of emotional maturity."
ReplyDeleteYeah. Because, you know, the things which I love I don't personally wish to fundamentally transform. It's like I'm arrested developmentally here since 10 or something. If I love a thing, I don't want to change the primary ways in which that thing functions.
To want to fundamentally transform something would be to explicitly imply that I wanted it transformed--custom molded and tailored--into something I could love, not a thing I do love.
But, sure, that's emotional immaturity. So much explanatory power you offer from your one-liner arrows atop the high horse. The arbiter of what's right/wrong at Field's. What would the folks do without you?

Way to let the trolls win! If anyone thinks an Internet troll acting intentionally provocative for attention is somehow a microcosm of American attitudes, I'll just have to assume they haven't left the house to participate with the rest of us in reality for twenty years or so.

ReplyDeleteFalse equivalency. Good luck and God bless. I know, you're agnostic. How about "bless the flying spaghetti monster"?
As mentioned in a previous comment I posted, the narrative of taking from the rich to garner even more entitlements for the already entitled classes is flat out wrong.
ReplyDeleteThis is not to say we do not have liars, cheats and folks that use race, gender and other protected with total lack of integrity.
People lost their homes; communities ravaged by the economic collaspe of outsourcing jobs overseas; crumbling infrastructures; a "no child left behind" policy that often resulted in inferior education; the war on terror costing billions in terms of lost lives and capital; an out-of-control healthcare system that was literally bankrupting many families...
These are just the many issues and concerns that candidate Obama lent his voice to. He understood the last thing these folks wanted was a mere hand out. "Give" people stuff they may only eat a day. Forge partnerships between government and private sectors, those who work hard, utilizing their gifts and talents are empowered for a lifetime.
Finally, when exploring this conversation further, I entered a search "Here's Proof O'Bama Loves America," coming across another Atlantic article that moved me beyond words: http://m.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/02/Rudy-Giuliani-Obama-Does-Not-Love-America/385647
"My uncle was a preacher growing up, heading a Baptist church. When he left his wife for a younger women, people left the church. His views were not the views the members wanted to share. If Obama's views aren't at least somewhat similar to Wright's, why stay?"
ReplyDeleteEasy: The political views that Wright put forth in a couple of sermons are not the views he, or anyone else, put forth most of the time in that church. On an average Sunday, it's just a regular church.
The idea that that church was some sort of weekly meeting place for anarchists plotting the downfall of the nation was a huge distortion.
Obama hates America to its core.

People say some mean and stupid things. What's your point? In the open marketplace of ideas, you're always going to get some people who can't bring an idea to the table if they steal it, so instead they seek to get attention through demeaning others rather than intellectually.
We've all known this since at least 2000. The Klan hasn't grown in strength and taken over on an ISIS-like rampage yet. Some people scream racial slurs in random corners of the Internet.
And some people, like Yisheng, do it right here on this very blog, while Field fucking claps for her and cheers her on.
So what?

Well if you haven't noticed all of the racial slurs and photos making fun of the president and his wife for their color, I'll just have to assume that you "haven't left the house to participate with the rest of us in reality for twenty years"

ReplyDeleteA very bemusing link you posted, President Hussein... Now here's the real story

The Snopes link does not dispute he flashed the sign, only on the significance or meaning of the gesture.
But to Islamists, there is no question as to what that sign means:

Please indicate one such incident, just one, that has occurred in any mainstream forum.
You can find anything you want to on the far corners of the internet, but no one has ever attacked the President or his family over his race in public or in any respectable media outlet.
In terms of outright disrespect, George W. Bush received may times the level of insults Obama has ever had to. Presidents have always been standard fodder for comedians, but Obama is even off-limits to them.
The truth is, Obama has benefited immensely for his being (half) black, and never would have been president if he were any whiter than he is.
"Well if you haven't noticed all of the racial slurs and photos making fun of the president and his wife for their color, I'll just have to assume that you "haven't left the house to participate with the rest of us in reality for twenty years"
ReplyDeleteTwo points:
1) What's your evidence that a lot of this isn't just those same racist fucking idiots who were always racist and will always be?
2) As was pointed out to you, you'll always find shit like this online.
I don't understand what it is about folks here who want to use Internet trolling morons as examples of American attitudes.
Legit question: Have you seen those anonymous triplets who troll me? If not, go back a few posts. Now, of course, they're funny as fuck and believe they bother me, while I actually find it flattering that they spend their days thinking of ways to insult me. But that's neither here nor there. The point: You don't find these motherfuckers in real life. I don't go to the Food Lion and run into people who do that. I don't see them at the mall. They're not at the pool hall or bowling alley. I never see them when I'm out to eat.
People in the real world typically tend to have respect -- at least those who aren't vicious animals. But once you get some people behind a screen where their identity is anonymous, some crazy shit comes out.
Some like to argue that this is them showing their true feelings online. I argue the reverse. They're showing the type of bad-assery and put-on tough-guy routine that they can only vicariously aspire to via a screen name. They're getting the attention they can't get in real life, for whatever reasons, and they go to fucking extremes to drive home the shock value.
Is the guy who shops Palin into porn a rapist or something IRL? Is the guy who shops Obama as a monkey a Klansman IRL?
@Pres. Hussein.....Not even at the End of Days will ISIS ever come to the conclusion that President O'Bama is one of them.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, see the other comment with a link to truthrevolt.org (a conservative forum) providing additional clarity to a gesture that meant no more than "I'll get back to you..." or something similar.
Even your blogger name mocking the president's middle name says you are more likely to fully believe these over-the-top eRumors.
I get that much of the president's economic and foreign policies have rubbed many people the wrong way and greatly respect posters such as Josh who will speak specifically to the issues and concerns.
The ongoing saga of the president who's really a mooslim in sheep's clothing is getting really old.

It's not a rumor; it's a photograph:

ReplyDeleteOh poor Rudy Foolioni, still salty about not being able to take 911 to the White House.
ReplyDeleteOOOH. We beat Pakistan!

You sorry, no physicality, homo assholes.
Funny, they wore white pants, in your stoopid cricket crap.

None. That's what exactly what I'm saying, that it's the "same racist fucking idiots who were always racist and will always be"
"None. That's what exactly what I'm saying..."
ReplyDeleteThen why did you expressly disagree with my point that nobody gives a fuck about race except those idiots?
You're the one who disagreed and acted as if I didn't know WTF I was talking about. Now, suddenly, we're in perfect agreement.
And let me clarify something for the sake of clarity. When I say nobody gives a fuck about race, I mean specifically in the context of people believing everybody hates Obama for being black. I fully realize that plenty of people care a great deal about race, like social justice warriors, academics, progressive race baiters, etc. They care incessantly about race. Our outermost differences are all they seem to ever focus on.

Indeed. and what I'm saying is that yes the fact that he is black has a lot to do with the fact that many people dislike him and his policies.
Because he is black.
"Because he is black."
ReplyDeleteI'm trying not to infer too much from this. But it's hard to separate it from outside context that has been the prevailing context since 2008: That is to say, the number-one reason Obama catches grief, according to pundits and parrots and politicians, is because he's a black man.
So, I ask: Outside of those idiots mentioned, who gives a shit about Obama being black? People my age and younger -- 30s down? White kids in college? People in the suburbs? People who are struggling to start businesses? Who are the people, outside of those already racist buffoons, disliking Obama due to his skin color?
I'm not saying they don't exist. I just don't know who they are. I do know it's an incredibly popular meme.

If you're not saying "they don't exist" than what are you asking for?
A list with names addresses and phone numbers?
Because you don't believe those who write articles against his color! Or make fun of his race online with photos etc.
You negate that any racist comments made on the internet are actually meant by those commenters, dismissively saying instead that they are all "just angry attention seekers"
So you know I can't provide you with a list of names, addresses and phone numbers, so I guess I'll just have to let you continue on in your delusion that no one cares except for a few old fuddy duddys and maybe not even that huh?
We're all just making it up then right?
Okaaay...carry on...:)
"A list with names addresses and phone numbers?"
ReplyDeleteA type would do. Regular right-wingers? The libertarians? Is it only white people? Latinos and Asians who are conservative maybe? Drunk Native Americans?
I know that the old guard white racists exist, and they thump their Bibles, blast their guns, and spit tobacco juice on everything that's different. We all know these fuckers exist. And we all know they don't like the idea of a black man as POTUS, or a black man on a commercial, or dating a white woman, or moving in their neighborhood, etc.
But who else in America besides these fuckers are the ones hating Obama because he's black?
Where are the rest of these racists hiding? Behind computer screens?
Is it more likely that there are many more racists hiding in America and blending in so well that they can't be identified, or it is more likely that some people are just provocative assholes when they can hide their identity?
"Because you don't believe those who write articles against his color! Or make fun of his race online with photos etc."
Where do you get that impression? Straw-man aren't helpful here; I know these things exist, and never said otherwise. There are people who do that shit, but who are they? Just plain old "white people"?
"You negate that any racist comments made on the internet are actually meant by those commenters, dismissively saying instead that they are all "just angry attention seekers"
Again, what's with the straw-man? I never said that every racial commenter is an attention-seeking troll. I simply pointed out that those people exist. Maybe some of them are card-carrying racists who are telling folks how they really feel. But some are just provocative idiots.
Just look on this damn forum for evidence of provocative idiots!
You have a guy running around who names himself "Josh is a racist" and just slanders and libels me constantly. Is he like this in real life? Does he run around with fake name tags and cursing people to their face? Highly doubtful.
Look at yisheng. She screamed at me in all caps, "FUCK YOU HONKY AND YOUR CRACKA ASS FAMILY TOO!" Does she act like this in her real life? Is she running up to white men and calling them honkies?
Now, I'm not saying that a person who writes this shit online doesn't mean it. All I suggested is that they're being intentionally provocative, and in being such attention whores, they seek to say the nastiest shit they can, in order to get a reaction out of a target. Maybe they mean it, maybe they don't. But it's fairly obvious they just want the attention and want to be provocative. You'd disagree?
"We're all just making it up then right?"
Did you go to the Purple Cow school of limited options? Why is that the only other possible choice? Either the racism is as rampant as you claim, or you're just making it all up. lol
Nothing in the middle that might fit?
Okay, then.
