Open thread.

No post tonight, field hands. I am on my grind doing some other things.

But I would love to hear your thoughts about where we are now as a country, and if we have anything to fear from the alt-right, and white supremacist movement that will soon be taking over in Washington.

Diversity is not a positive, and it is overdue that this is recognized and discussed in a rational manner. The entire Progressive agenda has been to stomp on the rights of the many to aid and abet the very few. This will begin to be overturned in January. Can't wait.

The first few picks for Cabinet are stellar. The more the Left howls and whines, the happier the alt-right is.

I'll see a LOT of poor whites at a local indigent hospital over the next few years, it'll be interesting to see how their excitement about Trump dwindles over time.

It won't take long. Trump will betray the Trump chumps minutes into his regime.

The question is where their anger about that goes. There's always the possibility that it will be redirected once again to blame innocent parties. That's the dumbass way our politics tends to work, with the real villains always managing to escape responsibility for their malign actions by tossing scapegoats to the angry mob.

The Trump transition team is now posting testimonials from Jeff Sessions alleged black friends, in an effort to prove he is totally not a racist or anything.

The most hilarious one is this, from a black guy Sessions worked with as a federal prosecutor:

"Former Deputy Attorney General of the United States under President George W. Bush Larry Thompson: 'I can tell you as a friend and someone who has known Jeff Sessions for 32 years that Jeff does not have a racist bone in his body. When I first met Jeff, he was U.S. Attorney in Mobile and I was the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta. In order to stretch our limited per diems on travel to Department of Justice conferences, we often booked single rooms with double beds in hotels. You really get to know a person when you interact so closely with them.'"

Hmmm. So the Justice Department has a policy of making black employees actually sleep in the same beds with racist dudes?! Nice to know, I guess.

I rarely feel compelled to jump in this sort of fray but what the hwck. What sums it up is this.If anyone thinks for a minute that what the cast of "Hamilton" thinks matters to Trump supporters they are delusional.
The Democrat leaning media now seeks to qualify what should be considered news.
Those who voted Trump are in no mood to back down and resume their slow torpid shuffle toward oblivion.

All Trump did was buy those blocs of voters time. They know it . They will also continue to push. Would of gone better for the Democrats had the NFL and NBA not openly gone anti America/Trump. Then the opiate could of just kept going and we likely would not have this discussion.

  28. Men Under Increasing Pressure To Become Nazis

"MEN across the Western world are under intense social pressure to become Nazis, experts have claimed.

Researchers at the Institute for Studies found the ‘Alt-Right’ or ‘Nazi’ movement is forcing men who believe in equality to ask themselves if they are actually ‘real men’.

Tom Logan, from London, said: “As well as believing in equality, I also think a lot of our social and cultural traditions are total bullshit, as is our ‘national mythology’.

“I think believing in those things is stupid and sad and I prefer to focus on the future not the past. But now I’m starting to wonder if not being a Nazi makes me effeminate. Perhaps the Nazis are right and I really am a fragile little snowflake after all.”

Logan added: “I do long to be masculine, so if I become a Nazi would it improve my love-making?

“Would I be able to ride a horse like a cowboy? Would it make me better at barbecuing meat?”

Logan continued: “I found a Nazi online and asked him if all the masculinity had made his girlfriend more attracted to him.

“He said he didn’t have a girlfriend but he would ask his mum.”

"@10:03, the problem is that a LOT of middle and upper class Whites supported Trump in the of party 'unity'."

I doubt it was about "unity." Probably more about greed than anything else. Trump's actual policies, such as they are, benefit the rich, just as with every other Republican in recent memory. Too many already well-off people cared more about expanding their own bank balances than about stopping the bigotry that Trump would unleash. (Though some, it must be said, are themselves bigots pleased by the hate-mongering.)

Now, quite a few educated, upper-income whites DID object to Trump's racism and lack of qualifications for public office, and this group collectively DID vote for Trump in lower numbers than vote Republican in typical elections, either throwing their votes to Clinton, or Gary Johnson/Evan McMullin, if they simply couldn't bring themselves to support a Democrat. But the number of defectors from this voting bloc was not enough to offset the big surge in lower-income white knuckleheads (who bought into Trump's farcical lies about global trade) and racists, particularly in the Rust Belt.

Clinton had been counting on there being more of the upper-income white Republican defectors, as well as a surge of people of color voting against Trump out of self-preservation. But the latter didn't happen at all. Unbelievably, 30% of Latinos voted for Trump. To Americanize a British expression, these were turkeys voting for Thanksgiving. Seriously.

Mea culpa, before the election, I had made the same assumptions about voters as the Clinton campaign and the pollsters. But I was obviously wrong. Trump could win, because a larger percentage of my fellow Americans than I had anticipated are either morons or racists. And no, complaints about Hillary Clinton being a less-than-ideal candidate do not let them off the hook.

Field, you need to get an understanding of rate. The crime problem must especially be understood in terms of rate. E.g., if blacks kill 20 on a weekend in Detroit, then you can't counter by pointing to one murder committed by a white.

Btw, there is more telegraphing today from Conway that Trump thinks Hillary is too big to jail, which will be probably the most obvious stab in the back to the people like me who elected him.

  34. We lost because 8 million of us didn't vote. Parsing the remainder for future trends is a fools errand. Yes, Hillary wasn't a very good candidate, although she would have been an excellent president (kind of the inverse of Trump who was a good candidate but a clueless president) but she did win the popular vote in spite of that, and their strategy of making the campaign so ugly and repulsive that many wouldn't want to participate worked like a charm. That's what we need to focus on now. How to get the voters we know we have to actually show up and vote, even in the face of the sheer tonnage of filth and ugliness they will shovel into the process, and in large enough numbers to overcome the cheating that will only get worse now that the Republicans have control of the government.
It says a lot that the Republicans only win when fewer people vote. Democrats got more votes in the presidential election, and in both houses of congress. We don't get a level playing field, but as there are more of us, we still win a lot in national elections. We need to start winning local elections and down ballot races starting right now, so we can undo some of the cheating in the 2020 redistricting. That's where the changes actually happen. A Republican winning the presidency after two terms of a Democratic president isn't all that politically noteworthy, but the successful push by the Republicans prior to 2010 to win the statehouses was. It was brilliant: state legislative seats are cheap to win, and the effect of winning them won both houses of congress this year when they lost the popular vote. We need to get our strategy at least up to that level to compete. Demographics will eventually shift the whole thing our direction, but the damage they will do in the mean time is worth not waiting around for that to happen.

"...thoughts about where we are now as a country..."

The United State of America has reached a plateau regarding race relations. Neuropeons now feel entitled to openly conspire to find new ways to espouse racist ideologies thereby giving themselves a reason to live. They have chosen to separate themselves from the ideals of freedom and justice in order to suffer and languish in a deluded fit of self pity. On the other hand, like the domestic abuser, they are intoxicated by their perceived power and enjoy the sadistic joy gained thru inflicting pain both physical and mental on "the other."

I never understand comments like this. If things are truly so terrible and pain-filled, then leave. Find somewhere else that suits you. After all, you are free, with agency. It would appear that you enjoy your self-identified victim status.

The vast majority of Trump supporters make no secret of the fact that this was a last hurrah to gain control of their white-majority country back. If you surf many pro-Trump websites, you will find references to Nineteen Sixty Five. That is the idealized year in Trumpland, and that is the year they seek to turn the clock back to. Fail to appreciate this at your own peril. They don't expect to achieve this all in the first administration, but they intend to make serious gains - starting with immigration. Trump ignores the grassroots demand for a serious deportation policy at his peril. Appointments to the Supreme Court will be made with the eye to completing the rollback.

They are very much looking forward to exploiting all the end runs around Congress, and the traditional speedbrakes on Congressional actions (Reid's "nuclear option" for example) to ram through their agenda. Pushing Obamacare through against so much genuine grassroots anger and opposition was a huge mistake, and the Progressives are going to pay for it in spades once Trump takes office.

Those who snort that it won't happen are the same ones who didn't believe it was possible for Trump to win. It will happen, and the opposition from Progressives will only serve to incite them to double down. In case you haven't noticed, they are enjoying the Progressive confusion, angst and emotional turmoil and have no intention of "making peace" or operating with "unity". Trump will forfeit his political capital if he elects to do so.

Trump can't jail Hillary, you dope, because a) she didn't commit any actual crimes, and b) the president doesn't decide who the Justice Department prosecutes anyway. The only way that would change is if Trump were to do what liberals suspect him of wanting to do: suspend democracy and declare himself dictator.
