Folks, can things get any crazier with this administration?Yesterday trump announced a reversal of the administration's policy to separate children from their families while holding them in cages. Or, as the trump people call it: Rooms with cages around them.
Today we learn that they don't know what to do next, that children will still be separated from their families, and some might never be reunited. We also learn that some of these facilities that they are being held in are worse, in some cases, than actual prisons.
Anwhoo, things went from crazy to downright bizarre. The first lady wore a jacket for her photo op with the suffering children, and it was, well.... here is what it said: "I REALLY DON'T CARE. DO YOU?" Huh?!
If I didn't know better (trump is not that smart), I would think that this was some kind of massive distraction to have the press talk about Melania so that she can play the victim role. I suspect, though, that this is just Melania being clueless. "Be best"
Anyway, tell me what you think that jacket was all about.

Koko, the beloved gorilla who knew sign language, dies at age 46
ReplyDeleteKoko, the beloved gorilla who shocked the world with her mastery of sign language and ability to communicate with humans, died in her sleep at the age of 46, officials announced Thursday.
The western lowland gorilla, born on July 4, 1971 at the San Francisco Zoo, spent the bulk of her extraordinary life at the Gorilla Foundation in Woodside. Her full name, Hanabi-ko, is Japanese for “Fireworks Child.”
When Koko was just a year old, her doctor, Francine “Penny” Patterson, decided to teach her a few basic signs including, food, drink and more. Patterson would speak the words as she signed them, according to the Gorilla Foundation.
In just three years, Koko learned more than 200 new signs and eventually her vocabulary exceeded 1100 signs. Patterson would also speak the words, which helped Koko learn 2,000-plus words in English.
Koko has died at the age of 46.

Koko was twice featured on the cover of National Geographic. Her first magazine cover was in October 1978, featuring a photograph that Koko took of herself in the mirror. The second cover in January 1985 focused on a story of Koko with her beloved pet cat, All Ball.
“The reason that it stands out in people’s memories is because there’s an emotional surprise there,” Patterson said in a video. “There’s a giant gorilla with a tiny, tiny, tiny, helpless kitten and being gentle and loving towards that kitten.”
Koko named the kitten All Ball because it looked like a ball to her, according to the Gorilla Foundation.

This reminds me of that fake “racism” scandal a few months ago when H&M launched an advertising campaign for a new clothing line for children and failed to notice they’d attired the black kid in the ad in a T-shirt labeled “coolest monkey” — at which point all hell broke loose across the entire Internet. Outraged Hollywood and sports celebrities were weighing in!
I am very confident that the marketing team for a major clothing retail chain were not intentionally trying to be racist in order to sell their merchandise, because that’s not actually a thing. There is, in fact, such a thing as bad publicity in the world of consumer goods, and ad agencies do understand this. But a great many people went ahead anyway and assumed H&M is managed by the Swedish branch of the KKK.
Whatever. So my main question is: Why are manufacturers suddenly writing meaningless phrases on articles of clothing? What is going on here? Who wants to wear a fucking shirt that says “coolest monkey” or a jacket with “I don’t care, do you?” emblazoned across the back? Even if this doesn’t result in a tragic misunderstanding (a la H&M or Melania) and people leaping to the conclusion that you’re an obnoxious bigot, even in the best-case scenario .. you just look like an idiot walking around with these nonsense slogans on your body.
Nothing makes sense anymore.

There is ample proof child separations are happening — journalists have visited the Walmart detention centers where they stuck them — and the White House has admitted they’re going on, to the tune of a couple thousand kids in the last few months.

But applying for asylum is applying for asylum. The government evaluates claims of persecution or war, and deports those who are not subject to those dangers.

We're okay, Thank God! Although it's hurricane season already again, but we're better prepared now...Not that anybody's ever prepared for such a monster but these natural phenomena are happening all over the globe it seems so...
As for the handling, Yes I agree it was haphazard and crazy at first, but right now things have stabilized and I must say the economy is doing very, very well.
The United States has a vested interest in the island because they have three air force bases here, all of which can be converted into Strategic Air bases in less than 24 hours. Being the worlds super power,that rules by their air military forces, it behooves them to keep the island in good condition. So thank God we're alright ;) untill the next one! xD

But as for the governor here, he is a Republican from the Republican Party the PNP, and as far as I've seen, very happy with President Trump.

ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as an ‘illegal’ or ‘bogus’ asylum seeker. Under international law, anyone has the right to apply for asylum in any country that has signed the 1951 Convention and to remain there until the authorities have assessed their claim.
There is nothing in international law to say that refugees must claim asylum in the first country they reach.

Oh I'm sure, but it's a lot either way. But of course you have to factor in that a lot of that will go to pay for contracts to Americans,so the money is siphoned back to the states ;) that's always done, in other words, they give it and then underground they take it back xD and of course right to government here the contracts they give to their followers and party contributors $$$, you know, it's one hand greases the other.
But either way we can't complain because business is booming, everybody's full and life is good, thank God!
