The Eagles did not land.

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"~Samuel Johnson

Most of you read this blog know that I am a big time Eagles fan. During the football season I pretty much bleed Eagle green, and I am still pinching myself after our Super Bowl win over those New England Cheatriots.

Now I, like most Americans, understand that it is customary for the Super Bowl champions to visit the White House to celebrate their victory with the president. I also knew this would be problematic because this particular president pretty much told NFL players to leave the country if they didn't kiss his ring, obey all his commands, and stand and sing the national anthem. (Even though he doesn't  know that words. himself) He also called their mothers bitches. Throw in the fact that the Eagles are one of the most "woke" teams in the NFL, and there is no way this was going to be easy. But, as is to be expected with this autocratic president, the Super Bowl champions were still expected to go to Washington and participate in his charade.

To the Eagle's credit, they told the players that if they wanted to go to the White House they would be free to do so.  And some- including the team's quarterback- said that they would go.

So the invite was on, and today was to be the day that Gang Green descends on Pennsylvania Avenue. Sadly for trump (and this is a fact), less than a dozen players agreed to go. The White House expected a lot more, and trump, who is obsessed with size, could not live with the optics of only having a few of the Super Bowl champions show up.  So what did he do? He quickly disinvited them before they showed up and embarrassed him.  But that wasn't enough. He also told a lie about the Birds and their actions during the NFL season when giving his reason for canceling the invitation. For the record, not one Eagle took a knee during the playing of the anthem, and not one stayed in the locker room. trump concocted this lie to appease his base and keep the culture war raging.

The biggest losers in this fiasco might be the NFL and the owners. trump is getting what he wants by creating this phony patriotism battle, and the owners are losing the public relations battle with their fans, as well as credibility with their players. The owner's panicked and caved to trump without consulting with the players and thinking that trump would get their back. They misread the landscape. They didn't realize that trump didn't want peace; he wanted war.

Today the president held something called the Celebration of America, it was meant to be a patriotic event where the president can stand in front of a bunch of flags and bask in the glow of all the faux patriotism surrounding him. Of course, it didn't go as planned. A couple of protesters reminded us that we still live in America, and one wannabe dictator whose ego is almost as large as his list of crimes will not change how we live our lives.

It's absolutely sickening how liberal politics infects everything. A simple thing like celebrating a super bowl win at the White House gets ruined by leftism. Everything that might unite us turns into a divisive issue so that someone can push the progressive agenda.

And you are right, Field, the big loser is going to be the NFL, who can't stop alienating their biggest part of their fan base.

    Motherfuck you fucking communists.

I LOVE the fact that the NFL & NBA champ teams are breaking precedent and not visiting the White House this year.

SJWs celebrate because it non-normalizes Trump. I celebrate because it non-normalizes basketball and football.

Things are getting clearer every day.

Black people not wanting to be unjustifiably shot by cops has nothing to do with Marxism.

And Trump is getting off on “divisiveness.” Picking pointless fights is one of the only things he is good at.

This is payback because the NFL was smart enough to steer well clear of this ass-clown when he tried to buy a team. Facts mean nothing to his followers so giving the details about the Eagle's conduct is a waste.
Also until a team signs Kap and they change the name of the racist team in DC I'm done with the NFL.

  12. So a contract employee of the National Security Council was arrested when he arrived for work at the white house on an attempted first degree murder warrant.

Manafort has to go to court to see if they are gonna revoke his bail because he got caught trying to suborn perjury from a pair of witnesses in his case, another felony to arrive in a superseding indictment for him, multiplying the already intense pressure on him to flip.

The special master reviewing the seized materials from the raid on Michael Cohen's house, office, hotel room, and safe deposit box has completed the examination of eight boxes of paper documents, three phones, and an ipad, and is on track to complete the review by the fifteenth of this month.
So far, a little more than 99.5% of the evidence has been OKed for prosecutors to see, with a few being held back for attorney client privilege and a few more due to their "personal" nature.

So it's not surprising that Fergus threw another media stunt today, things aren't going well for him, and he hates that shit and feels he needs to distract attention away from it, like that's gonna help him somehow.

Perhaps he should have thought about that before he took the job, as every president has had to contend with negative press and public opinion all of the damn time. Dealing with it as a competent adult is definitely part of the job description.

But why worry about doing the real job when he can stand in front of a military band in front of a crowd of staffers because nobody else would show up, and forget the words to the national anthem and "God Bless America" and still keep his job because the Republicans in congress will never hold him to account for anything, ever.

Perhaps the Democrats will do so next year.

As the prosecutors argued when they raided Cohen’s office, there wasn’t likely to be much covered by attorney-client privilege because whatever Cohen was doing for Trump, you couldn’t really call it legal work.

  14. From Andy Borowitz in the New Yorker:

"WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The Philadelphia Eagles have accepted Robert Mueller’s invitation to come to his office and celebrate their Super Bowl victory with him, Mueller has confirmed.

The special counsel said that he was “absolutely tickled” that the Eagles had accepted his invitation. “I’m a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and it turns out the feeling is mutual,” he said.

According to one member of the team, the Eagles accepted Mueller’s invitation only after being assured that their visit would not in any way distract the special counsel from “getting his job done.”

“What Bob Mueller is doing is so much more important than any Super Bowl,” the Eagle player said. “If he wins, the whole world wins.”

For his part, Mueller praised the Eagles for responding to his invitation so quickly, adding, “I invited Trump to see me months ago, and I still haven’t heard back.”"

  18. From: "Report of the Special Rapporteur On Extreme Poverty And Civil Rights On His Mission to the Unites States of America." U.N. Document #G1812530

"The United States is a land of stark contrasts. It is one of the world’s wealthiest societies, a global leader in many areas, and a land of unsurpassed technological and other forms of innovation. Its corporations are global trendsetters, its civil society is vibrant and sophisticated and its higher education system leads the world. But its immense wealth and expertise stand in shocking contrast with the conditions in which vast numbers of its citizens live. About 40 million live in poverty, 18.5 million in extreme poverty, and 5.3 million live in Third World conditions of absolute poverty. It has the highest youth poverty rate in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the highest infant mortality rates among comparable OECD States. Its citizens live shorter and sicker lives compared to those living in all other rich democracies, eradicable tropical diseases are increasingly prevalent, and it has the world’s highest incarceration rate, one of the lowest levels of voter registrations in among OECD countries and the highest obesity levels in the developed world.

The United States has the highest rate of income inequality among Western countries. The $1.5 trillion in tax cuts in December 2017 overwhelmingly benefited the wealthy and worsened inequality. The consequences of neglecting poverty and promoting inequality are clear. The United States has one of the highest poverty and inequality levels among the OECD countries, and the Stanford Center on Inequality and Poverty ranks it 18th out of 21 wealthy countries in terms of labour markets, poverty rates, safety nets, wealth inequality and economic mobility. But in 2018 the United States had over 25 per cent of the world’s 2,208 billionaires. There is thus a dramatic contrast between the immense wealth of the few and the squalor and deprivation in which vast numbers of Americans exist. For almost five decades the overall policy response has been neglectful at best, but the policies pursued over the past year seem deliberately designed to remove basic protections from the poorest, punish those who are not in employment and make even basic health care into a privilege to be earned rather than a right of citizenship.
The visit of the Special Rapporteur coincided with the dramatic change of direction in relevant United States policies. The new policies: (a) provide unprecedentedly high tax breaks and financial windfalls to the very wealthy and the largest corporations; (b) pay for these partly by reducing welfare benefits for the poor; (c) undertake a radical programme of financial, environmental, health and safety deregulation that eliminates protections mainly benefiting the middle classes and the poor; (d) seek to add over 20 million poor and middle class persons to the ranks of those without health insurance; (e) restrict eligibility for many welfare benefits while increasing the obstacles required to be overcome by those eligible; (f) dramatically increase spending on defence, while rejecting requested improvements in key veterans’ benefits; (g) do not provide adequate additional funding to address an opioid crisis that is decimating parts of the country; and (h) make no effort to tackle the structural racism that keeps a large percentage of non-Whites in poverty and near poverty.

In a 2017 report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) captured the situation even before the impact of these aggressively regressive redistributive policies had been felt, stating that the United States economy “is delivering better living standards for only the few”, and that “household incomes are stagnating for a large share of the population, job opportunities are deteriorating, prospects for upward mobility are waning, and economic gains are increasingly accruing to those that are already wealthy”.

It seems you are unfamiliar with the whole American extreme patriotism thing. Let me enlighten you.

When our national flag wears out, Americans are technically not supposed to throw it in the trash. This is viewed as a sort of religious sacrilege. Instead, there’s a whole ... procedure.

Here is one of the recommended methods for disposal (no, I am not making this up):

    Flag Burial

To bury the flag, begin by finding a dignified wooden box - it should be of good quality and construction, as this box will serve as the flag's vessel as it is interred in the ground.

Fold the flag correctly and respectfully, place it in the box and then bury it in the ground.

You may even consider giving a your flag short ‘funeral’. Give a speech on the importance of the flag then stand at attention as the flag is lowered into the ground. Observe a moment of silence as the flag is buried. You may even choose to mark the burial location with a small, patriotic marker.”

Football players are making public political protests at their place of employment. Further, these protests indict the entire country, and by inference the (white) paying customers in attendance over a non-existent problem. The NFL chose not to fire these players for outraging their customers, and their customers have the right to walk away, which many have.

You have a difficult time understanding what free speech means, but that's not surprising, as you live in a country where you can go to jail for expressing the wrong opinion on Facebook, reporting on pedo rape rings, or teaching your dog to do a Nazi salute.

She made a racist and religiously bigoted tweet.

    No, it was neither.

Roseanne tweeted: "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj"

The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorism-supporting political organization. Her tweet did not imply anything against Islam as a religion. If you said an Irish person looked like Sinn Fein, that would not be a 'racist' comment about all Irish people. When you call someone a 'Nazi', it is usually not construed as a racist comment towards all Germans.

The Planet of the Apes comment refers to the fact that Valerie Jarrett actually does look like a character of the last POA movie. Black people don't generally look like apes; some people of all races can kind of look like a monkey. Valerie Jarrett kind of does, and Roseanne made a lame and childish insult by pointing this out. Valerie Jarrett also isn't black, she has more European ancestry than African ancestry.

Because progressivism has pushed the idea of 'Muslim' as a race, and because blacks are rightly sensitive because of past history of being compared to apes, the Left was able to exacerbate outrage over a moronic tweet to score a political victory. This was about seizing the opportunity to deepen divisions and enforce ideological conformance, not about standing up against racial or religious bigotry.

Strawman argument. No one defends cops executing innocent civilians.

Statistics actually show whites are more likely to be fatally shot by police.

There are hundreds of millions of police interactions with criminals every year. In a tiny percentage, the police wind up killing someone. In a tiny percentage of those, they made a mistake. In a further subset of those, the person was black.

The vast majority of police shootings occur when someone is violently resisting arrest. Not acting can result in someone else getting killed.

There are cases when a cop abuses his position or is criminally negligent and someone innocent is killed. In these cases, there is a trial and guilty cops go to jail.

These athletes are kneeling because they think there is a systemic problem with racist cops out to kill black people. An objective examination of the facts show this is not true.

    He cannot.

He can undoubtedly snatch some money out of the pockets of the owners by inciting the racism of a section of the fan base. But football is more popular than Trump could ever hope to be in his wildest dreams.

The only way he could get rid of the NFL would be to abuse the powers of his position to regulate it out of existence — and that would bring an instant end to his presidency.

Which is a sad commentary on the priorities of our republic. Trump’s racism or his criminality may not force him out of office. The fact he hasn’t the slightest clue how to do his job doesn’t seem to matter to enough people. But fucking with football would immediately doom him.

So glad to have that cleared up.  Obviously those types Don't Matter.

    > every president has had to contend with negative press and public opinion all of the damn time.

Yeah, right.  We didn't call him the Mulatto Messiah because the press had a permanent hate-on for him.  They didn't even pile on him when he made the gaffe leading to the "beer summit", let alone when he sent reps to funerals of dead thugs but not murdered cops.

As for Trump, he had this all planned out before he issued the invitation to the Negro Felon League.  The team owners (save one) are traitors to the nation, encouraging their players to act out on the job instead of reining them in and telling them to protest all they want, but OFF the field and OUT of uniform.  Driving wedges between the traitor owners and not-American players and the fans hurts the owners as their revenues dry up.  ESPN itself is not far from bankruptcy as people cut the cord, and that means tearing up all the lucrative TV contracts that keep the teams going.  THAT is going to give a double whammy to the traitor owners.

The NFL is falling from a position where it could get cities to build stadiums for it for free.  At the rate things are going, cities might soon kick the NFL out.

    1. Hate speech has sent people - white, black, Muslim and Christian - to jail for periods up to 12 weeks in the UK that is true. But over here we think that's a good thing. In our legal system nobody has an inalienable right to spread hatred. There are(as there should be) limits to free speech.

    2. He wasn't 'reporting' anything, he's not a journalist. He's the former leader of the neo-fascist E.D.L. party, with a string of convictions dating back to the 1980's, including violent crimes and common fraud. He was already serving a suspended sentence for a violent crime before this issue came up. The reason reporting of this trial was prohibited is that not all the alleged members of the rape gang have yet come to trial, they will be tried later this summer. Reporting on the details of the crime now, prejudices the outcome of the later trial. This is a ver common reason for imposing reporting condition in the UK. I know you guys have given up on the concept of 'justice' over there, but here we still hold that someone is innocent until proven guilty.

I can call you a wet back because just your mom is Latin. Oy vey, the more I hear and read from white people the more and more I suspect they are quite dull.

  56. "In these cases, there is a trial and guilty cops go to jail."

    What are you high on?
It is incredibly difficult and rare to prosecute a police officer in this country. That's leaving aside the fucked up fact that we can't seem to decide just what it is that police officers are supposed to actually do for us here, and in our confusion and laziness and straight up cowardice we keep adding more and more shit to their job descriptions, making them function as surrogate parents and babysitters for fuckheads too cowardly and ashamed to express their own racism.
But over here in reality, the chances that the cop who murdered you, beat the shit out of you, or faked the evidence he used to send you to prison for twenty years ever even being disciplined, much less prosecuted for doing so are very slim indeed.
And in the exceedingly rare cases where a cop does get prosecuted, convictions are even less likely.
Cops work with the courts as part of their jobs, and courts are blatantly biased in the cops favor because they need them to still work for them every day, and feel that damaging that relationship is way too risky.
And that's underneath the societal bias in favor of cops and against the accused.
There are very, very, few cops in jail, and even when one really fucks up and gets himself fired, more often than not they are rehired by a different police force.
Getting rid of bad cops is inherently difficult in this country, which is really unfortunate given the number of scumbags that got hired when we threw a fit of poltroonery and hired 100,000 of them without upholding hiring standards a couple of decades ago, then set about militarizing the fuck out of them until they became indistinguishable from an occupying army.
Take this quiz and see how many you can correctly identify as cops or soldiers. I have taken it many times and I just got 13 out of 21.
Basically, the only reliable way to tell them apart is that the cops skew older than the soldiers. The gear and tactics are identical.

Bill Clinton did that in a perfect example of why you can't make deals with Republicans, and you never really could, even back when things were supposedly less crazy than they are now.

You Negroes want better Cops? Then tell your liberal leaders to quit lowering the admission standards to become one. Figure it out.....There are dumb Whitey's that should not get in too. All standards in everything need to be raised. Catering to the POC in this country has killed it for all. Rewarding ignorance and failure based on skin color should be offensive to you all.

Hey Purple Dumbass.....It's the first amendment not the second and furthermore the first explicitly states congress shall not abridge free speech. It says nothing about employers. The supreme court has ruled on several occasions that there is no free speech in the workplace. Now go pull those black balls off of your chin.

  61. Howz this for superior intellect in Drumpf administration- The event comes one day after DeVos told lawmakers at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing that the commission will not focus on the role of firearms in gun violence at American schools.

“That is not part of the commission’s charge, per se,” DeVos told Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) at the hearing Tuesday

Not going to look at the role guns play in school shootings. Fucking brilliant!

It's the first amendment, and it gives you the right to say what you want (unlike in Britain), but it doesn't mean your employer can't fire you for something you said. Ask Roseanne.

The vast majority of gun crimes are committed by Negroes in America. The problem is not guns but Negroes with guns. The claim of unfair school suspensions and/or discipline is more lefty bullshit. Ever see any online vids of a black classroom? The fact is that the Liberal/Black utopia is that all crime and antisocial destructive behavior(s) are to be tolerated and accepted when done by Blacks. And somehow these inabilities to function in a first world society are due to the 24/7 racism of every white person that has and will ever live. The habitually aggrieved M.O. is no longer accepted.
