Open thread.

MORE DISCLAIMERSIt's an open thread night people. Tell me what's on your mind.

I have a few thoughts:

Omarosa is still dropping tapes like a hip hop producer.

Is being a racist a requirement to run for office in the GOP?

Is being the immediate  family member of a white heterosexual male the most dangerous  place one can find themselves in these days?

Your president is planning a 100 million dollar parade and vets are still dying in the streets.

FOX showed a picture of Patti LaBelle  instead of Aretha Franklin  today when mentioning her death. Personally, I am not surprised, because we all look alike to the folks over at FOX. Their explanation for the snafu just made things worse.

Speaking of FOX, can someone tell me when Japan was a Communist country? Apparently over at FOX that's a part of history now.

Finally, the special forces commander who led the bin Laden raid blasted trump today and told him to revoke his security clearance as well. Is he a patriot or a traitor in your eyes?

Many people on the far right believe that if we don't support Trump, we are communists. Japan doesn't support Trump, so Japan must have a history of communism.

Somehow the education system in our country seems to have failed about one-third of the population. There is a shocking ignorance of history and current events.

“Omarosa is still dropping tapes like a hip hop producer.”

No earth-shattering White House revelations yet, though. The Trumpster trash are as trashy as one would expect, but I personally can’t say have learned anything really new.

”Is being a racist a requirement to run for office in the GOP?”

Dear lord, that guy — Corey “Why is no one sticking up for those nice alt-right fellows in Charlottesville?” Stewart.

He is the most successful RepubliNazi candidate yet, if you don’t count Trump himself. Most of these fascist freakshows have gotten nominated for lesser offices, and only because they ran unopposed. But Stewart has gotten the GOP nomination for the freaking US Senate in a contested primary!

It is getting harder and harder to deny the reality that the Republican Party is a racist toilet.

“Is being the immediate family member of a white heterosexual male the most dangerous place one can find themselves in these days?”

There’s no reason to believe these sorts of killings are happening at a greater rate among whites than non-whites. But they probably aren’t happening at a lower rate either, because these are “crazy people” crimes, not ones motivated by economics. They are equal-opportunity murders.

”Your president is planning a 100 million dollar parade and vets are still dying in the streets.”

Trump cares nothing about actual military servicepeople. That should be abundantly clear by now. He just likes parades, or any events, that celebrate him. We can thank Emmanuel Macron for planting this idea in the empty head of our president, with the military parade he orchestrated to flatter Trump during his visit to Paris.

“FOX showed a picture of Patti LaBelle instead of Aretha Franklin today when mentioning her death. Personally, I am not surprised, because we all look alike to the folks over at FOX. Their explanation for the snafu just made things worse.”

Hey, at least they managed to find a black singer. That’s kinda close? LOL, I wouldn’t put it past them to have used a picture of Weezie from the Jeffersons.

“Speaking of FOX, can someone tell me when Japan was a Communist country? Apparently over at FOX that's a part of history now.”

Fox also thinks the UK has Muslim no-go zones.

And their sister station, Fox Business, thinks Denmark is a socialist hellhole (the majority of Danes enjoy a better standard of living than Americans).

"Finally, the special forces commander who led the bin Laden raid blasted trump today and told him to revoke his security clearance as well. Is he a patriot or a traitor in your eyes?"

Almost anyone is more patriotic than a quintessentially unAmerican president who is infuriated by the concept of a free press but also considers Russian spies rigging our elections to be no biggie.

As far as trump's economic plan some studies suggest that we will need trillions in infrastructure money while he drains the coffers. Corporations and the wealthy have done extremely well the last few years and it doesn't seem too outrageous to ask them to kick in a few more bucks.

Yes, it takes inestimable courage to publicly criticize Trump. Finally, someone has dared to speak up. But there is a cost to such bravery. He'll probably be slammed in the major media, get fired, lose any chance at corporate speaking fees, get de-platformed from Facebook/Twitter/Google, and have crazy protesters outside his house for weeks.

    > Is being a racist a requirement to run for office in the GOP?

Awww, are you sad that your old worn-out magic word doesn't work any more?

    Cry me a river.

    > Is being the immediate family member of a white heterosexual male the most dangerous place one can find themselves in these days?

Being black in St. Louis or New Orleans (or Compton) is a lot more dangerous.  Not that you'd ever acknowledge this.

    > It is getting harder and harder to deny the reality that the Republican Party is a racist toilet.

It is fun to watch you freak out over the growing impotence of the "racist" slur.  Blacks are the most racist group in America.  Everyone else is becoming just as race-centric as you out of self-defense, and you're melting down.  Hilarious!

    > they probably aren’t happening at a lower rate either

They are happening at a VASTLY lower rate, not that you'd ever believe or admit it.  Here is what you do not understand:  YOU ARE NOT LIKE US.

    > Trump ...just likes parades, or any events, that celebrate him.

Trump will take your hysterical reaction to the parade and club you with it.  So will any American candidate for office who's worth their salt.  (By "American" I mean non-cucked Republicans only; no Recucklicans or Dhimmicrats qualify.)

    ReplyDelete
  15. "YOU ARE NOT LIKE US."
You got that one right, and infinite thanks for it being true.

    1)Yawn.

    2) No, but it certainly helps if you can talk like one. How does it go? "Not all Republicans are racist, but most racists are Republican."

    3) Probably not by the numbers, but only because there are still a lot of them around.

    4) If only Macron had staged a parade for their vastly superior healthcare system and safety net, perhaps those veterans might be getting some attention. It would only be symbolic, but it might have been better than the giant fuck you that they're getting in the form of a hundred mil of military money spent to jack off Fergus.

    5) They are just white and ignorant enough to not know when their attempt at an explanation is making it worse.

    6) Japan as a country and a culture were just about as far from communism as you could get, but as history is toxic to Republicans, I guess we can't expect them to understand that.

    7) It doesn't make him a traitor to speak his mind about the government, although that seems to be a common misconception among Republicans when their idiot has the top job. They were really rabid about criticism of W also, as I seem to remember.
On the other hand, it probably doesn't make him a patriot (he already made that distinction by getting bin Laden), just relatively sane.

  20. Strange but true12:32 AM

Remember when Obama's passport records were breached during the 2008 presidential campaign?

Obama was the only one of the three presidential candidates involved who had his passport file breached on three separate occasions. The first occurred Jan. 9, 2008, followed by separate violations Feb. 21 and March 14, 2008. Moreover, all three of the offending employees had breached Obama’s files, while each of the passport files of McCain and Clinton had been breached only once.

The New York Times noted the two offending State Department contract employees who were fired had worked for Stanley Inc., a company based in Arlington, Va., while the reprimanded worker continued to be employed by the Analysis Corporation of McLean, Va.

Analysis Corporation was headed by John Brennan, a former CIA agent .

After Obama’s inauguration, Brennan joined the White House as assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counter-terrorism.

By March 22, 2008, the Washington Times reported that the State Department investigation had focused on the contract worker for the Analysis Corporation, because he was the only one of the three involved in breaching the passport records of both Obama and McCain, the two presidential candidates whose eligibility as “natural born” citizens under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution were in question.

Investigative reporter Kenneth Timmerman said a well-placed but unnamed source told him that the real point of the passport breach incidents was to cauterize the Obama file, removing from it any information that could prove damaging to his eligibility to be president.

According to the theory, the breaches of McCain’s and Clinton’s files were done for misdirection purposes, to create confusion and to suggest the motives of the perpetrators were attributable entirely to innocent curiosity.

Within a few days, a new witness surfaced unexpectedly, providing evidence that breaching passport files was an offense being perpetrated by State Department officials on a massive and everyday basis.

The case centered on Leiutenant Quarles Harris Jr., age 24. Harris, who spelled his named differently than the officer rank, was a petty drug dealer and identity-theft criminal who never served in the military or in any police or fire department.

What was clear from Harris’ statements was that breaching passport records at the State Department had developed into major criminal activity conducted on a continuing basis by State Department employees with access to the State Department’s Passport Information Electronic Records System, commonly known by the acronym PIERS.

What also was clear was that Harris had information related to the State Department employees who had breached Obama’s passport records and that he was cooperating with government officials.

Despite the objection of the prosecutors, the judge at his arraignment released Harris the next day on personal recognizance. He was ordered to return to court for a hearing in June 2008.

However, Harris did not live to attend the court hearing.

On April 18, 2008, he was found murdered in Washington, D.C., by a single bullet to the head in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

The Washington Times reported April 19, 2008, that a “key witness in a federal probe into passport information stolen from the State Department was fatally shot in front of a District church” at close range, around 11 p.m., in the 2800 block of 12th Street NE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

  21. Strange but true12:34 AM

But this is not the end of the story.

Two weeks after the report that Obama’s passport records had been breached, candidate Obama made the surprising disclosure at a private fundraiser April 7, 2008, that he had traveled to Pakistan during his college years.

Jake Tapper, then senior White House correspondent for ABC News, commented that Obama’s disclosure that he had taken a college trip to Pakistan was “news to most of us.” Tapper said “it was odd we hadn’t heard about it before, given all the talk of Pakistan during this campaign.”

Tapper reported that, according to the Obama campaign, Obama visited Pakistan in 1981, the year he transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University, and that he had visited his mother and sister Maya in Indonesia on the same trip.

Why was Obama disclosing now, for the first time, that he had traveled to Pakistan with his roommates from Occidental College?

Did Obama use an Indonesian passport to travel to Indonesia and Pakistan in 1981, and was he concerned the breach of his passport records might end up disclosing such information, if true?

The attempt to preempt such a disclosure might explain the timing of Obama’s decision to suddenly reveal, at least to the friends assembled for the fundraiser, the previously undisclosed trip to Indonesia and Pakistan.

“I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college,” Obama is heard saying on the poor-quality audiotape that survives from the San Francisco fundraiser. “I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.”

As I’ve previously noted, if I owned a bakery, and I sincerely didn’t want to bake a cake for a customer (for any reason–maybe the customer has just been a pain in the derriere), I would simply say something like, “Gee, Mrs. Smith, I am so backed up with orders that I can’t take any more until after the date you need the cake,” or “I’m so sorry, Mr. Jones, but I’m short-handed right now…”

In other words, there are lots of ways you can refrain from “participating in sin” without issuing a self-righteous sermon to justify the abstention.

He may not have enjoyed being criticized in the press; no politician does. But he didn’t declare them “the opposition” or the “enemies of the people.”

However, Jefferson’s predecessor, John Adams, did pull a Trumpian move and attempt to punish his critics for saying mean things about him. He was denounced as a tyrant. This is one of the main reasons Adams is regarded by historians as a crappy president.

    Adams’ Alien and Sedition Acts:

“The Alien and Sedition Acts were four bills passed by the Federalist-dominated 5th United States Congress and signed into law by President John Adams in 1798. They made it harder for an immigrant to become a citizen (Naturalization Act), allowed the president to imprison and deport non-citizens who were deemed dangerous (Alien Friends Act of 1798) or who were from a hostile nation (Alien Enemy Act of 1798), and criminalized making false statements that were critical of the federal government (Sedition Act of 1798).”

I have no idea what the the point of your post is, so I shall try to guess: You think I am so old that I will soon die and should be worried about it? If so, let me set you straight: I have lived a long and exciting life and I have no fear of dying.

Second guess: According to you, I am so old, I may soon die soon, so therefore I shouldn't be concerned with politics? Well I have a daughter, a son, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, so I'm concerned with climate change and every other issue that may affect them in the future.

I have no guess as to what you are getting at with your last question, the answer to which is none of your business. But since I'm a nice person, I will give you a clue. When I close my eyes I often see my late husband.

But I do know what I'm talking about. See below!

FROM THE HILL, August 17, 2018.

But the president in an interview with The Wall Street Journal cited Brennan’s involvement in the beginnings of the Russia counterintelligence investigation, muddying the waters as to his reasoning.

The developments come as Trump continues to wage war publicly against the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference, which he again derided as a “rigged witch hunt” in the interview with the Journal on Wednesday.

I don’t know who, if anyone, is suing to publish the names of jurors. If media outlets are suing, it’s probably not only CNN.

But the thing is, jurors’ names are normally released in trials as a matter of course. The judge has, in fact, taken the unusual step of refusing to release names in this trial because there have been death threats; the judge himself has received threats and requested police protection.

It’s ironic that this blog’s lying trolls are somehow trying to make this into an “evil” mainstream media conspiracy, though. The threats to the jury are coming from angry, stupid Trumpkins who think Manafort’s prosecution is part of an unfair “witch hunt” against Trump.

If jurors’ names were released, this would result in jury intimidation to HELP Manafort, not hurt him.

If Trump had objected to CIA hacks of Congress that occurred under Brennan (which were almost certainly carried out by rogue agents, not under his orders, but whatever), he’d have pulled Brennan’s security clearance the day he became president.

But Trump has made this move now, 1.5 years into his presidency, because it is self-evidently part of his colossal “nobody is allowed to criticize me!” temper tantrum.

He’s got a naughty list of others whose clearances he wants to yank. These are virtually all people who say mean things about Trump. But apparently, that’s merely a huge coincidence.

    6:30 PM

By plane or ship, I presume. Snopes has got you debunked somemoar.

However, the claim that Barack Obama must have set out on that trip to Pakistan using a non-U.S. passport is false: The U.S. State Department did not include Pakistan on a “no travel” list barring Americans from traveling there in mid-1981, and evidence documents that Americans could in fact freely visit that country at that time.

The U.S. State Department issues Travel Warnings (which caution travelers about “long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable”) and Travel Alerts (which caution travelers about “short-term conditions, generally within a particular country, that pose imminent risks to the security of U.S. citizens”) but those warnings are purely advisory — they do not prohibit Americans from traveling to the listed countries. The fact that the U.S. State Department issued an informative Travel Advisory for Pakistan in August 1981 (to make American citizens aware of updated visa requirements for entering that country) demonstrates that U.S. passport holders could freely travel to and from Pakistan at the time of Barack Obama’s visit there.

Moreover, during that same time period (mid-1981), New York Times assistant news editor Barbara Crossette visited Pakistan and wrote a column about her experiences, a piece in which she offered tips to other Americans who might wish to visit that country. Additionally, her column prompted a follow-up letter from John S. Brims, then the U.S. Consul General in Lahore, Pakistan, in which he “welcome[d] an influx of Americans” who might have been inspired to come to Pakistan by her article and also offered helpful tips for tourists traveling to that country by rail from India:

    From the article:
"The media request for the names and home addresses of jurors comes a day after the jury began deliberating about the verdicts on 18 fraud and conspiracy counts against Manafort."

Now this doesn't make sense. How or why would a news organization try to intimidate or harass jurors already on deliberations? The article goes on to accuse CNN of intimidating others because of an anti-trump bias. This is getting real weird. Can we just have a normal presidency? Man, I'd even take W over this guy.

Of course it doesn’t make sense. This is real news, but filtered through the paranoid, bent brain of the wingnut, until it turns into unintelligible gibberish.

News outlets aren’t looking to influence the jury. They’re filing their demand for the jurors’ names now, so that they’ll be granted access to the jury as soon as possible after the verdict is rendered.

And they want the names so that they can interview the jurors, not make it easier for raving nutjobs to send them death threats.

It’s truly amazing how wingnut world can manage to build a massive, nefarious conspiracy out of literally any meaningless, trivial event.

Next, they’ll be tying the jurors in with Pizzagate or QAnon or one of their other laughable, hallucinatory Alex Jones fantasies.

From the Huffington Post:"Don McGahn, the White House counsel, has been cooperating extensively with special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation largely in order to shield himself from charges, The New York Times reported Saturday."

Oh, Oh This doesn't sound good for Trump.

  132. NASA says the Parker Solar Probes 7th passby the sun it will hit speeds of 430k mph. Can anyone figure out the fine for exceeding the Interstate speed limit on Earth? I know drumpf will say he can. Anyone else?

430K mph is nothing to sneeze at. Believe it or not that is a shade faster than Drumpfuck can lie.

Here is the article I was referring to.

Drumpf claims he allowed all his aides to talk freely. His counsel claims he was being set up to take a fall for obstruction. This could get interesting since had everyone sign pdas to keep them from talking.

    From thinkprogress.com today
Businesses on Maryland’s Eastern Shore are feeling the sting from President Donald Trump’s “America first” immigration and visa policies, as establishments struggle to hire workers.

Crab-picking houses typically enjoy busy summer seasons in Maryland, which is famous for its seafood. But this year around a third of crab-picking jobs remain unfilled due to a shortage in seasonal labor. Crackdowns on the H-2B visa program — which allows workers to come from other countries to the United States for a brief stint before returning home — have left the industry in a bind.

But, but Trump is making America great again - right?

Unless you got a bag of money, it might be a good idea to keep The Honorable Donald Trump's name out of your mouth and away from your keyboard. Obama bamboozled all you liberals( ask Jeremiah Wright ;the bombastic left- wing priest who got shut down permanently ). Obama did not put any permanent mechanisms place to protect your liberal agenda. It's just a matter of time before Trump serve all of yo assess!

Hire Mary MAGAdelete to scrub all of that socially and professionally incriminating bullshit you tweeted and Facebooked while racism and hostility were all the rage away like digital holy water.
Some restrictions apply, may not be used as a lifeboat to escape culpability for the damage you did to the country, and does not apply to embarrassing videos shot at thanksgiving by the sane members of your family.
Mary MAGAdelete, because this shit won't fly after sanity is restored.
