ReplyDeleteI mean, he’s not out there promoting Trump, so he should get credit for that much.
But as with all of the Never-Trumpers, a bit more remorse would be in order. Trump didn’t just come out of nowhere. They had to have noticed the buildup of the GOP’s racist and anti-democratic tendencies when they were working for them — assuming they did not participate in promoting these horrible beliefs themselves in order to get some of their team’s candidates elected.
That is my beef with the folks at the Lincoln Project or the Bullwark.
On a related note, it feels like I am hallucinating to watch Bill Kristol warning of the dangers of invading a Middle Eastern nation without a any rational objective or plan. No way, Bill! You mean that’s bad … now?
Yeah, the builders of the monster machine only came out against it after the monsters came after them, and they would all very much like it if we, who have been right about said machine the whole time, including back when they were pulling paychecks from its construction, would just shut up and let them tell us how to run our party.

Israel continues its descent into apartheid state status, passing a law making the death penalty the default punishment for Palestinians who commit acts of terrorism (which, let’s just be real, they’re defining as killing a Jewish Israeli). And the sentence is to be carried out within 90 days, so I’m guessing there’s no appeal.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, this will not apply within Israel proper. If Jewish Israelis commit terrorism against other Israelis, no automatic death penalty. This is obviously discrimination of an extreme sort.
Finally, when Jewish settlers kill Palestinians, I’ve no doubt the current prevailing practice will continue: no prosecution whatsoever.
I once played with an excellent drummer from Israel for a while, who told me "In Israel we only hate two things: prejudice and Arabs."
