Tough talk?

Let me go ahead and give my thoughts about the O man's health insurance reform speech.

I caught most of it tonight in between watching the U.S.A T&T soccer match on the Spanish channel.

First, how ignorant and disrespectful are republicans? If anyone saw a democratic congressman texting during one of the frat boy's speeches or saw anyone in the opposition yelling "liar" in the middle of a previous presidential address, please provide a link. I don't think one will be forthcoming, but I could be wrong. I did see Eric Cantor texting someone during the O man's speech-must have been calling his hair dresser for more hair spray-, and yep, there was a republican yelling "liar" in the middle of the speech. What a classy bunch.

Oh, and I loved the good doctor from Louisiana giving the republican response. (He has been sued for malpractice twice, so I am not sure he should be throwing any stones from his glass house.) The idiot actually brought up tort reform when his O ness already promised in his speech that it would be a part of his plan. That's what you get for writing your response before hand. But hey, it sure beats the governor from Louisiana giving the response, because as bad as bayou doc was he was better than the gov.

But back to the speech: First, let me say that it was a mistake for his O ness to give this health reform package to congress to work on. He should have crafted it himself and then handed to them to work out the details. I know he didn't want to do a repeat of what the Clintons did back in 1994, but that is exactly what he should have done. Different time, different mandate, and it would have worked. Now, unfortunately, our boy is playing defense. Having said that, let me holla at his O ness for a minute: I loved the tough talk O man. You aren't the first president to take up health care but you will be the last? Bringing up the ghost of John Dingell, Sr. was also a nice touch. You were all over the profit over people insurance companies, and rightfully so. If A-merry-cans weren't moved by some of those stories you told about real people, they don't deserve health insurance reform.

I loved the fact that you hit back at the right wing/FOX News smear machine. ( I see they bumped your speech for some dancing show. Just what A-merry-ca needs, more silly reality shows.) Who needs to hear about one of the most important legislation from our government in decades? I am still not sure about the public option part, but I think you were being intentionally fuzzy. I felt like you were talking to us progressives and telling us to chill while you try to get something done with health care. I am not a political pragmatist, but I know you are, and if most A-merry-cans can have access to proper and affordable health care I guess I am all for it. It sure as hell beats the insurance lobby driven system we have now.

I also loved the fact that you placed the blame for this mess that we are in where it belongs: at the foot of the frat boy and his crew. And, I loved the idea of putting actual facts into the speech. Facts should always get in the way of partisan bullshit.

"We are the only advanced democracy on Earth — the only wealthy nation — that allows such hardships for millions of its people. There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage. In just a two year period, one in every three Americans goes without health care coverage at some point. And every day, 14,000 Americans lose their coverage. In other words, it can happen to anyone. "

Not "anyone" O man, republicans don't believe it can happen to them. Only poor people immigrants and minorities can't afford health care.

"Then there's the problem of rising costs. We spend one-and-a-half times more per person on health care than any other country, but we aren't any healthier for it. This is one of the reasons that insurance premiums have gone up three times faster than wages. It's why so many employers — especially small businesses — are forcing their employees to pay more for insurance, or are dropping their coverage entirely. It's why so many aspiring entrepreneurs cannot afford to open a business in the first place, and why American businesses that compete internationally — like our automakers — are at a huge disadvantage. And it's why those of us with health insurance are also paying a hidden and growing tax for those without it — about $1000 per year that pays for somebody else's emergency room and charitable care."

More facts. Come on O man, you are letting it get in the way of a great political debate.

"But that's not what the moment calls for. That's not what we came here to do. We did not come to fear the future. We came here to shape it. I still believe we can act even when it's hard. I still believe we can replace acrimony with civility, and gridlock with progress. I still believe we can do great things, and that here and now we will meet history's test.
Because that is who we are. That is our calling. That is our character. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.'

That damn Obama, I wonder if Mrs. Field have any of her O-Aid left?

No Jedi mind tricks?

Well the speech has been given. And so far there has been no 911 calls from middle A-merry-ca that little Johnny is trying to work on his basketball moves. And that little Heather, all of a sudden, has a crush on Bow Wow. Kids weren't walking around the school yards like Zombies chanting "yes we can." In fact, the parents who held their children back from school today for fear of the black man in the White House brain washing their kids, look downright foolish. (Not that it took much to accomplish that feat.)

There were no hidden messages. (Unless it was hidden to black folks, because I didn't see it) No "Jedi mind tricks". No Socialist propaganda. Just a president talking to the nation's children and telling them how to do the right things. There was nothing controversial about it. In fact, you really have to ask yourself why it was so controversial in the first place. Hell even Laura Bush was on board with his O ness on this one. And she was actually a school teacher.

"Every single one of you has something that you're good at. Every single one of you has something to offer," ... "And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is."

That seemed to be the theme throughout the entire speech. No politics, no secret indoctrination, just an honest to goodness talk that every parents should be having with their own kids. So protesters like the one who greeted his O ness with a sign that said "Mr. President, stay away from our kids" really needs to get a clue. In fact, I have some news for the wingnut who was holding that sign: I want you to stay the hell away from our kids. And if you have kids of your own, DHS (or whatever they call youth services in your state) should step in right now and take the little "rug rats" right from under you.

So the republic survives. At the end of the day even the wingnuts didn't have much to chirp about. Well, most of them.

This blogger sums up what this might be all about best: (Besides the other obvious reasons, of course.)

" ...the speech comes just as Americans are debating Obama's health-care proposals. Malkin and other conservatives find the timing suspicious.

Presidential speeches to students are nothing new, of course. Ronald Reagan addressed the nation's schoolchildren in 1988. That was an election year. Reagan talked of maintaining traditional moral values, a cornerstone of George Bush Sr.'s presidential campaign.

Try to find a moment in history -- especially recent history -- when Americans aren't involved in some manner of divisive political debate.

Granted, maybe some teachers, being human beings, get carried away with their political views. That happens throughout the political spectrum. It's an indictment of blind partisanship, not liberalism.

Whatever danger it presents pales before the danger of people losing faith in public education because teachers have been reduced to simple-minded stereotypes."

Sadly, that's just the way they want it.

Obama, don't you have little poor and inner city kids you could be talking to? Your speech should be on BET and TV One, nowhere else.

*
Is that tire marks I see on Van Jone's back? I know I know, no one in the White House asked him step down, he just didn't want to be a distraction from the president's agenda. Yeah right.
Anyway, I am not writing about that tonight. It's a victory for the wingnuts, and I don't want to think about wingnut victories right now.

What I want to write about is the outrage over his O ness speaking to all those school children all over A-merry-ca. Conservatives are breathing fire over this one. Who the hell does this Obama guy think he is? They are saying. He might have been elected president, but he is not really our president.

"Thinking about my kids in school having to listen to that just really upsets me," suburban Colorado mother Shanneen Barron told CNN Denver affiliate KMGH. "I'm an American. They are Americans, and I don't feel that's OK. I feel very scared to be in this country with our leadership right now."

There are a lot Sharon Barrons all over A-merry-ca. The very thought of his O ness talking to her kids about anything scares the blue right out of her eyes. One Florida GOP Chairman, Jim Greer, basically came right out and said that his O ness is pushing a "Socialist ideology" on A-merry-ca's children.

"As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology," Greer said.
"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the president justify his plans ... is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power."

Hold up. Didn't the fake ass cowboy from California deliver a political speech to school children?

Yes, I think he did. And I think it got far more political than any speech his O ness could ever give. But hey, Reagan isn't a Socialist with an African father and a funny name. He, my friends, was a real A-merry-can.

And then, of course, there was the first Bush, who gave a speech to the kids as well. I tried to remember if there was this type of outrage over any of those speeches, and I am comfortable in saying that there was not. Consider, some wingnuts are actually saying that this talk by his O ness to the kids violates the constitution. They are saying that this president's access to communications is "dangerous". Dangerous? Isn't he the president of the United States of America? How dangerous can he be since we elected him?

But I get it. Barack Hussein Obama is not a legitimate president as far as these people are concerned, because they still cannot stomach the fact that he is their chosen leader and the most powerful person in their beloved country. This is not about his politics, it's about him. Had this been Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, or Al Gore, we would not even be having this discussion. You know it and so do the other 300 million plus people in this country. Let's just go ahead and keep it real with each other: This is about the president's race and nothing else. The last thing white folks want (present company excluded of course) is this Negro talking to their children. " He can go talk to his kids or kids who need to be told about getting an education. My kids know the value of an education." That is what one man from the majority population was saying on the news the other night. And believe me, I got his message loud and clear. I am just amazed that folks in the White House do not.

Honestly, a lot of these political mistakes could be avoided by his O ness if he would just surround himself with more people who understand the real A-merry-ca and aren't buying into this "post-racial" crap.

"The President is a political leader. He is not in office to be an educator. His duties are clearly laid out, and they do not include educating children. By the same token, the President is not the parent of all these children. He is not their teacher. He is not their religious leader. The reason for these boundaries is so that political figures do not use their power and influence to dominate our social lives. It is a special danger to liberty and society when national powers are developed. These are powers in which the national leadership directly controls or influences individual citizens, while bypassing or circumventing other local sources of governance and influence such as parents, families, churches, schools, and local governments."

Who says he is not a "religious leader"? I bet that author has never attended the church of Obama?

Day three!

"Field how old do you think Lenny Kravitz is?" I don't know, 39 maybe? "Nope, he is 45."
Wow, who knew? "Field I am thinking of cutting my hair, what do you think?" I am sure it would looks nice short, dear. "Why do you say that, don't you like it this length?" Ahh, no, that length is fine. I like that length, too. "You are just saying anything at this point, because, the truth is, you are not even thinking about my hair."

"Field, I know you are dying to get to that laptop and blog, but don't even think about it." Come on now, why would you even think that? You must really think I am hooked on this blogging thing if you think I can't do without it for a couple of nights. My phone is off and I haven't even been thinking about work, much less blogging.

"I know you field, you will probably get on that damn computer on the sneak while I am sleeping or in the bathroom or something. But don't worry, I will be checking out the field Negro tomorrow; just to make sure."

Hey, do any of you have an extra room at your place where I could crash for a couple of days?
I don't require much... well, maybe just a laptop.

Still on lock! The field in captivity, day two.

This has to be quick. I don't have much time before Mrs. Field gets back. (Sometimes a woman shopping can be a good thing)

I knew I couldn't just go quit this thing cold turkey.

Some quick thoughts: First and foremost. Thanks to all of you who put one down for the kid with The Black Weblog Awards. We won (all of us) in the best political/news blog category. This award means a lot because it's, well, black folks. It's always good to get recognition from your own. So we did it.

I was at the "Newseum" yesterday with some folks who are holding it down for the First Amendment. That museum is all that, and I would recommend it for all of you. Mrs. Field and I actually got a personal tour from the brother (Frank Bond) who produced an excellent documentary about the civil rights era (Good dude) and who seems to be a big honcho over there with the Freedom Forum people. He actually interviewed me for a show that should be on PBS some time later. It had to do with journalism and the role new media is playing in it's development. I think I was there so the the folks could get a field Negro's perspective on things. You know, ask the tough questions: Like why aren't more people of color represented in the main stream media? And where are our stories being reported?

Hey, what's all the fuss about the chosen one speaking to the little school kids? Don't presidents do this kind of stuff all the time? Although I guess we really never had a president like this one before.

Some folks will consider Roger Stevens a hero. I won't. It's not cool slapping a kid in public. (In public black folks. In public! I know you all tear up those behinds behind closed doors, so don't even start with me.) Especially another persons kid.

I guess you all have seen the video by now of that dude from Oregon doing like Joe Frazier on the kid from Boise State. Yep, that kid was talking smack and the dude let him have it. (Why do thoughts of Shabazz come to mind when I see that video?) Here is the thing: What dude did was wrong. He should not have punched an opposing player like that. (The guy didn't even his helmet on.) I don't care what the guy said or did to him, (well, unless he called him a nigger, or talked about his mama) he has got to practice restraint and self control. Some of these folks already think that us brothers can't control our tempers.-- I wonder where they got that impression? --so we have to work extra hard to control our emotions. Dude might have just cost himself millions of dollars because he was a projected as a high draft pick in the NFL. That other dude probably wasn't even going to get drafted. Sad.

Imagine sending your daughter off to a fine institution like Spelman only to be given the news that she was shot to death by some ignorant ass urban terrorist while walking and minding her own damn business. This shit has got to stop!

I gotta go. I will holla later.

That's the way to give that Obamacare supporter your finger.

Hey do fries go with that finger? See wingnuts, this is what you get when you try to give his O ness your finger, you lose it. Yep seems that these health care debates are getting rather heated. Those damn Obamaholics are finally coming out to stand by their man. What were you wingnuts thinking? Did you really think that you were the only ones who were going to come out swinging...or should I say biting at these debates? There is passion on both sides.

But it's nice to see that you wingnuts are fighting back . -There is nothing like a vibrant political debate- I bet poor Luis Perrero didn't know what hit him.

"I'm amazed at the way this has become such a politicized issue,'' Perrero said as he sat on the ground holding his jaw. ``It shows that people who are against the public option will resort to anything -- including battery on a senior citizen -- to prevent healthcare reform.''

Oh come on Luis; man up. You took one for the home team. I know you are 65 but we need every able bodied man and woman out there fighting these wingnuts.

Still, in spite of Luis doing like Sony Liston, this round goes to the Obamacare folks.

"The Obamacare supporter, who was on the side of the street with other supporters, came across the street toward the anti-Obamacare crowd and singled out an elderly man and proceeded to “get in his face” about his views. The Obamacare supporter then pulled the old man out into the street, unprovoked I might add, and then bit the old guys finger off while the old guy was just trying to get away. The old man then shuffled off toward a hospital.
I then went out into the street and found the old man’s finger. We called 911 and the dispatcher gave them the location to the nearest hospital which she said would be their best bet for finding the man. They rushed over and were able to find the old man and provide him with his finger. I went back to the scene to wait for police and gave the police the entire account and they tried to find the attacker amongst the Obamacare supports, but he had fled by then." [From Beetle Blogger]

Boy wingnuts really are dumb. If someone went Mike Tyson on my finger I guarantee you that I wouldn't be "shuffling" to the hospital. Nope, I would be doing my best Usain Bolt imitation. And here is the irony: seems the old wingnut is covered by Medicare. So, in essence, the very kind of program that he is protesting against is what paid for his medical treatment in the first place. But don't worry for the old guy. All is well that ends well, because it seems that they were able to find his finger. I sure hope they can reattach it for him. He is going to need that finger to give the Socialist president in the beige house a proper salute.

Hip hop Mike at Howard.

This post is going to make some of you uncomfortable, but as is usually the case with moi, I really don't give a fuck. (No, it's not about Glenn Beck, although I will be probably be blogging about his moronic ass again tomorrow.)

This post is about republicans, and the man that is charged- as of me writing this post- to lead them. His name is Michael Steele, and once again he made a damn fool of himself on a stage of his fellow humans while on the latest leg of his hip hop tour.

There are a lot of reasons I could never become a republican, and most of it doesn't necessarily have to do with their politics. It's them, the people who make up their party. They are clueless, out of touch, and live in a parallel universe which I never hope to see. But back to Mr. Steele. Or, as I like to call him, hip hop Mike.

Mike had a little town hall get together at Howard University Tuesday night. As the RNC chair and the sanctioned HNIC of the red neck...I mean red party set, it is his job to attract blacks, once again, to the party of Lincoln.

"Steele spoke at Howard in front of roughly 150 students as part of his outreach program to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. His effort to connect with young black students got off to a rather cringe-worthy start when right before the billed "student dialogue" two dozen white members of area young Republican groups arrived to sit in the reserved first two rows of the packed room. One wondered, as students grumbled, if Steele hired John Ashcroft to be his event manager. "

Of course, we can't have those "young republicans" mixing with those black students. Hell they might be packing. But let's move on with more of Dave Zirin's account:

"..But when challenged, Steele exposed himself, and it was awful to see the Tin Man's tin ear. When the RNC chair took a written question on health care, he blasted the public option, saying that "every time the government gets involved in something it doesn't work."
Then came Amanda Duzak, and Steele's evening just got a whole lot worse.
Duzak, a 23 year old Towson University grad, stood up, against the rules and out of turn.
"My mother died of cancer 6 months ago because she could only afford three of her six prescription chemotherapy medications," she projected. "There are 50 million people in this country who could end up like my mom, suffering or dying because they do not have adequate health care. Everyone in this room and everyone in this country should have access to good health care."'

Good job Amanda. Nice to see a republican confronted about health care for once. So it wasn't a town hall meeting, but it was close. Let's see what our boy hip hop Mike did:

"The room woke up and other than those glaring from the front, the applause was wall to wall. But it's Steele's response that makes this moment both newsworthy and a terrible comment on his character. After saying that he believed in a mature, honest discussion and not in shouting, Steele said, "People are coming to these town meetings and they're like [he then shakes]." He then looked and gestured right at Ms. Duzak and said, "It makes for great TV. You'll probably make it tonight, enjoy it." He then turned his back to her, as the crowd clapped."

Wait, Dave, did you write "as the crowd clapped"? What the fuck were they clapping for? The young woman was right! I know a lot of college kids read this blog, -including some of you from Howard- and if any of you were in that auditorium with hip hop Mike as he tried to clown that young lady, you should be dusting off your tapping shoes and your head wraps right about now. But let me not jump to conclusions, let me look at the video again......yep, there was definitely some shuffling going on at old HU. I saw you Negroes grinning and "cooning" with Steele as he tried to play "I am down with you" while parroting republican talking points. The only thing worse than a house Negro is a college educated house Negro. That young white woman had more field Negro in her than all of you grinning Negroes put together. Oh field, stop it, the young lady was being disrespectful, she was interrupting Steele. Just like you claim the republicans do when the democrats hold town halls. What's the difference? You just say this now because you happen to share her point of view. That would be correct! And I will continue to share her point of view until every A-merry-can has access to affordable or free health care in this country, and until the crooked insurance companies and profit over lives HMO companies are a thing of the past.

"Think about what Steele did. He didn't only turn his back and rudely dismiss a young woman whose mother just died of cancer. He used the shameful recent behavior of the right wing town hall screamers -- his own party's base -- to try and turn the crowd against Ms. Duzak. "

Relax Dave, that's just hip hop Mike being hard core. Keeping it real to the end.

Another bogeyman.

*
Glenn Beck was crying today on his radio program. He was begging anyone with an ounce of patriotism to "act" and "get involved" for their country. The Communist, he said, have infiltrated our borders and they are going to eat our women and children. Well, he didn't go quite that far....or, wait, maybe he did.

This man is absolutely certifiable. And you know what's even crazier? One in every one hundred A-merry-cans have been watching this fruit cake every night on Television Rwanda (AKA FOX News) Beck has become the cynosure for the anti black anti Obama sentiment in this country. The thing is, I still can't figure out if he is serious or not. I heard him on the radio today and he sure sounded serious. (The man was crying for crying out loud!) On and on he went about Van Jones, a "devout Communist" (or so says Beck) who has declared his allegiance to Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. "He is the founder of a communist group who denounced America after 911" he said, and then he released an explosive audio tape (his words) of Jones passionately speaking about taking back America from those people. " Who does that sound like?" He kept saying. "Does one Jeremiah Wright come to mind when you hear Jones?" Now folks, I have to tell you, if this is the same Van Jones that I know, nothing could be farther from the truth. But I am sure Beck and his congregation will not let the facts get in the way of their fantasy. Quotes like the following have them all damp around the crotch area:

“We upheld the Marxist critique of capitalist exploitation. We agree with Lenin’s analysis of the state and the party. And we found inspiration and guidance in the insurgent revolutionary strategies developed by third world revolutionaries like Mao Tse-Tung and Amilcar Cabral.”

Yeah....OK....and?

"We cannot let these people get away with this", he kept saying. "We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to fight for the country we believe in." Wow! And you know what's scary about this? Somewhere in middle A-merry-ca there is another Timothy McVeigh listening to this shit and being inspired to plot his next assault on all those who are Un-American.

This, of course, is all bullshit. I wonder if it ever occurred to Mr. Beck and his wingnut friends that the Tiger Woods president with the Muslim sounding name was democratically elected by the people of these divided states? I mean I don't know about you folks reading this, but that doesn't seem too much like communism to me.

But I get the strategy: Attach Jones to Obama, find another black bogeyman, and scare the heck out of middle A-merry-ca. Right now Van Jones is the flavor of the month. Beck will find more. - I guarantee you that they will all look the same.-

What's sad about all this is that there are perfectly legitimate things that Beck and those of his ilk could be debating with Obama about. Health care, the war, immigration, and a slew of other programs and policies that have been implemented since his he took office. Instead, we are left with this: Propaganda, fear mongering, and lies. All the while Beck's ratings continue to go through the roof. And why? Because he is telling some of our fellow A-merry-cans just what they want to hear.

Tricking the field and killing Barack.

People accuse me of being a racism chaser but I am really not. You would be surprised how many e-mails I get with cases of my man racism -possibly- acting up. I choose not to blog about some of these stories because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Take my girl Lynn Jenkins (R-Kansas) for instance. When she made her GOP needs a "great white hope" statement a few weeks ago, many of you folks were fit to be tied, because you just knew Lynn was expressing a racist sentiment, and that she was just saying out loud what a lot of white folks (particularly those in the very small GOP tent) were thinking to themselves. She, of course, said it wasn't true. She said she did not understand the racial implications of her statement and it was just an innocent remark taken out of context.

Well, me being the nice guy that I am, and a person who is trying very hard to move into a post racial A-merry-ca with the rest of you, let it slide. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and believed her when she said that she had no clue. Some of you told me that I was being played, and that my racial antennas were getting soft. Well, I hate to say it, but you all might have been right.

Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.) took a bit of heat a few weeks ago for suggesting the GOP needed a "great white hope" to take on President Barack Obama in the next election.
The Kansas Republican backtracked from her remarks soon thereafter,
insisting that she hadn't really understood the racial implications of the statement.

Alas, The Ottawa (Kans.) Herald finds one reason to doubt Jenkins's excuse. A month ago, the freshman lawmaker supported a resolution that included the very phrase "great white hope" in a historical context that made clear its origin.

In late July, the House of Representatives passed, by unanimous consent, a measure urging the president to pardon heavyweight champion boxer Jack Johnson, whose career brought him success in the ring and racist vitriol outside of it. Included in the resolution, which passed on July 29, was the following phrase:

"Whereas the victory by Jack Johnson over Tommy Burns prompted a search for a White boxer who could beat Jack Johnson, a recruitment effort that was dubbed the search for the 'great white hope.'"

Well I will be damned! Racism, you tricked me again. You are one sneaky son of a bitch.

Oh, and before I go, I have one more story of wingnuts gone wild:

"A Tempe
pastor is raising eyebrows with his prayers that include his pleas for the death of President Barack Obama.

Steven Anderson, 28, was featured on CNN this week for the content of his sermons, including one earlier this month titled "Why I Hate Barack Obama." An audio of the sermon posted on Anderson's Web site includes what Anderson contends is proof found in scripture that "God hates Barack Obama."

Anderson gave the sermon on Aug. 16 while Obama and his family were visiting Arizona.
"I'd like to see Barack Obama melt like a snail tonight," Anderson said in the sermon, referencing the practice of pouring salt on slugs. "He ought to be aborted."'

Now now pastor, didn't the good lord say that we should "let everything we do be done with love"? That doesn't seem too loving to me. I think that somewhere in heaven Jesus is weeping.

A-murder-ca!

With all due respect to my girl Gladys Knight, I think I am going to stay off that "Midnight Train To Georgia. I'm sorry, Georgia just isn't a place I want to be right now. You all have a serious killer on the loose and until you have him in custody I think will pass on those peaches.

Thing is, this is the kind of tragedy I would expect to happen in Atlanta, but not in a rural trailer park for crying out loud. The poor people of Brunswick must be on some serious edge right now. I guess that's how the people in a lot of inner cities feel 24/7 with the urban terrorist running loose.

"Mary Strickland, who owns The Georgia Pig, a popular local barbecue place said people have been buzzing about the killings and mainly want to know what happened.
"I think a lot of people who live in that area would feel a lot better if they had a little more information," Strickland said. "If it is a murder-suicide then let people know so they don't think there's some lunatic out there. We got a lot of people who panic and the more information you put out there, the better you make them feel."

I agree Mary.

"Lisa Vizcaino, who has lived at New Hope for three years, said the management works hard to keep troublemakers out of the mobile home park and that it tends to be quiet.
"New Hope isn't run down or trashy at all," Vizcaino said Saturday. "It's the kind of place where you can actually leave your keys in the car and not worry about anything."'

I don't agree, Lisa. "New Hope isn't run down or trashy at all"? Ahhm, is that a picture of New Hope? Because if it is, you might have to define "trashy" for me.

But let me stop, your community has been through enough. As someone who lives in a community where we have had our share of mass killings I know it can't be easy. And I should and do feel your pain. That's the thing, here in A-murder-ca, we are all just one community. Whether you live in a trailer park on an old plantation, or in a concrete jungle on the east coast.

Finally, speaking of communities with mass killings; seems there was a double slaying up at Virginia Tech last week and that killer is still on the loose. What the hell is going on in A-murder-ca? Has it always been this bad with the killings and mayhem? Or is this a new phenomenon like "Wii games"? I feel for the people of Virginia Tech, too. They have had some issues recently with mass killings. And, not to mention, someone was recently beheaded on campus. (Yes, beheaded!) By all accounts, these latest victims were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“They were both godly young people, the cream of the crop..."

Hell, maybe we all are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
