It was bound to happen, all this coverage of Michael Vick's dog issues, and all those pictures of those poor innocent dogs being tortured, was sure to piss off their boys in dog land.
Now it seems that some of the dogs have taken revenge on one of us, a human. Like what did we expect, they were just going to let that shit go? Yep, seems a few of these dogs mauled a care taker at my twins L.A. home. Ain't that a bitch? (Can I say that when I am talking about dogs, or will they be offended?) Anyway, I wonder where all the PETA people will be now? I wonder if there will be outrage that these dogs sent this poor care taker to his maker? And, of course, the poor guy as it turns out was a brother. Hey, those dogs aren't stupid, they were having Vick flashbacks and shit.
Lord I hope Ving didn't do anything criminally negligent and his mug won't be plastered all over the news. "Field, was that you on the cover of the Daily News in that mug shot? Damn it sure looked like you. Naw man that was Ving Rhames, his dogs killed his care taker. Too much Michael Vick coverage in the dog house I guess."
I wonder if they will put the dogs to sleep? Or if Ving will fight to keep them alive? Ving is, after all, a brother. And you know how we are with our pets. Hell, Ving's dogs might have been just hungry for all we know. " Mr. Rhames did you know that these dogs have not eaten in five days? No officer I didn't know that, I was away on a movie shoot."
But seriously, I don't mean to make fun of this, a man lost his life, and that's tragic. But it does bring this whole animal versus human thing in perspective doesn't it? I hope this will help everyone remember that at the end of the day, we are talking about animals here, and sometimes animals will act like....well animals.
Ving, I got your back, if they lock you up a brother can double for you and split your fees.
I might even do it for free if you can get a brother Lark's number.

ReplyDeleteThis incident is tragic and I am not making light of it. Since you mentioned dogs are taking revenge because of the Michael Vick scandal here is story that is hard to believe. A dog shoot his owner in Memphis this week.
ReplyDeleteokay, how about i was on a forum earlier when i read this and i said the EXACT SAME THING. well not exact, but in essence i was wondering if the people that have been harassing vick are going to go into a rage over this, when a human life was taken.
ReplyDeleteit is very sad and i hope ving doesn't get charged with anything.
...and you DO look like ving's twin! wow! lol.
If his Ving's Rhames' dogs had killed a neighbor's dog, they'd have his head. But since his dogs only killed a man who was probably Black or Latino, there might not be the same white outrage that there is over Vick.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Rhames and for the man who got eaten by the dogs.
On the other hand, ANY reason to prosecute a Black man is usually considered to be a good reason, so if I were Rhames I'd get a good defense lawyer and not talk to the press.
Rhames is an excellent movie producer/actor. I've been watching Black movies from the United States, and I just saw one that's written and produced by Ving Rhames, called "Animal." It's a very good movie about a Black man who grows up fatherless and depending on crime and killing to make a living, but then a Black revolutionary introduces him to the Autobiography of Malcolm X in prison, and that changes Animal (Rhames' life).
I only regret that I've bought about ten Black movie DVD's in the last couple of weeks (I certainly hope they're not pirated, but they cost $1.50 in US Dollars on the streets of Brazil) and of all of these films there's only one that's not about Black people killing people.
The one film that doesn't have a gun and a gunman as the central characters is Will Smith's movie in which he stars with his son, "little Will Smith." The kid's cute and a great actor, so please see this film and support a Black movie that's not about Black people shooting each other.
Speaking of which, AAPP says, "Black-on-Black Crime: No one is saying anything - including the Democrats"
It's at the Democratic Afrosphere blog.
^^^ yeah that movie is called The Pursuit of Happyness. i loved it. both will and his son jaden did an excellent job. it's sad that we have so many movies like that...but i guess those are the ones that make the most money.
ReplyDeleteHere is a thought. How about people stop having attack dogs, stop training attack dogs, stop using dogs as some kind of macho status symbol? Hmmmm. How about people stop breaking and entering homes or hating on people who have a home, making those people think they need attack dogs. What is so fucking hard about that? No, we got to twist it all up and make it out to be something else. Real simple, if there were no attack dogs, we would not be having this conversation. But, having attack dogs are like having the bling bling.
ReplyDeletePitiful.
In other news, Eddie Murphy gets his face cracked, because I so remember this story: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/ViewArticle.aspx?SectionID=39&ArticleID=1914316
Seriously folks, I don't mean to make light of a man losing his life. I tend to get overboard at times with my satire, but I mean well.
ReplyDeleteMy bigger point from day one with this Vick thing has been this; a human life is more important than an animal life every time.
And yes, hopefully a time will come when we don't need attack dogs and shit to protect us from the evils of the weorld; but sadly, I just don't think that day is here yet.
Those dogs are not there just for protection, they are status symbols, male status symbols, macho symbols. There lies the problem...
ReplyDeleteAnd supposedly VR had the kind of dogs that were the same that guarded slaves long ago. WTF? Was he attempting to subvert history by having those dogs. Was he trying to become the new plantation master.
Yet, the dogs did their job, didn't they.

ReplyDeleteHello FN:
Interesting take. Molossers are generally used as watch dogs because they have the right temperament for it. I have a fawn pit bull terrier and she is the greatest. But yeah, dogs tend to do what the master wants them to do. Sometimes, a dog can do nutso if they were breeded from faulty stock or poorly trained though.
The dogs who guarded slaves were generally a derivation of the English bulldogs that immigrants brought to America. The most famous of these breeds is the Alapaha Blue Blood bulldog. I couldn't own a dog like that because of too much psychic scarring...I don't know why in the hell Mr. Rhames wanted to own a slave dog- perhaps because he wanted to master it in psychic revenge?
I feel bad for the man who lost his life! I also wonder if he did anything to provoke those animals! If not, they should be put down immediately! I am usually against putting down dogs, but in this case they committed a capital crime!
Interesting views expressed. Mastiffs and other such dogs are aggressive, sure, but they are also kind and gentle when the owner's someone sense. Maybe Ving still thought he was cooking eggs naked like in "Baby Boy" and needed an army of dogs for protection.
ReplyDeleteSo now a person is dead from a dog attack and we are worrying about Ving? More American Hollywood values in action. I bet if Steven Speilberg's dog ate a brother you'd all be hysterical and want him to go to prison for life. But it was a black celebrity dog so poor Ving. Uh, screw Ving.
ReplyDeleteAs for the What About Our Daughters blog, I laughed out loud when I read the over the top attack on it. It's also tied in with my gripe about Hollywood values. DL Hughley is going to pay for his dumb commentary about the Rutgers players and he should. He goes to the white man to get a cheap laugh from something that black people are not laughing about? Screw him too.
I am so tired of how SOME black men get their panties in a bunch when black women publicly criticize any black man. When TLC came out with the song "Scrubs" brothers had a fit even though what is said about women by SOME men in popular culture is much worse.
When that young Washington girl was raped by Tyson, it was poor Tyson. Black ministers across this country denounced this young girl and defended the thug Tyson. When Tyson's wife, what's her face the actress left him over domestic abuse, she was accused of being a gold digger. When Tina Turner finally dumped Ike, they started rumors that she was a lesbian (not that there's anything wrong with being a lesbian, I am not a homophobe).
The defense machine for black men is well oiled and well developed. It is tragic to see that so many women are on board with it. I am so tired of how SOME black men pit themselves against black women and make us the villains. Really sick of it.
I don't see how what goes on at the Daughter's blog any different than FN choosing his Lawn Jockey Alert. It's a difference of perspective. But I don't appreciate black women being demonized for having a different point of view. I don't agree with a lot of what FN says but I wouldn't appreciate seeing him demonized for it either.
Thanks for the education about the different breeds of dogs everybody. Is there anything you all don't know? WCS, I feel your passion, but do you really think the issue some black male bloggers have with Evia et al. is about their gender, and not the fact that the appear to demonize black men?
ReplyDeleteJust asking.
BTW, if there is ever a day when you feel that I disrespect my black sisters on this site please call me on it.....OK, I did call Condi the "bad perm lady" a few times, but after the Imus incident, I vowed to stop doing it.

ReplyDeleteBTW... thanks for the mention regarding Cobb. :)
ReplyDeleteDang...that must have been a big ass lawn for dude to be attacked and ate up by those dogs without anyone hearing him being ate to death. How long was he out there? Where were the dogs?
ReplyDeleteIts really sad for the brotha that died I think PETA would be happy for the dogs fighting back or some weird crap.
Angry independent; Well, okay then.
it was hard to focus on the fact that there was a tragic end to this story because of the humor you fused in with the post.
ReplyDeleteI am curious to see how the coverage will be handled myself in the coming weeks.
time will tell.
good luck with that Lark thing, brotha.
"good luck with that Lark thing, brotha."
ReplyDeleteThanks DC-speaks, if you know girlfriend's number, holla at a brotha :)
The overt racism on this blog is very scary and I hope it begins to get more attention. If this blog were the reverse, it'd be utterly and completely condemned universally. But because it's Politically inCorrect to criticize racism from blacks (even if you're black), you get away with it... And you KNOW you do! And I believe you know it's wrong. Racism is wrong, period. People, ALL people (at least those with a brain, which I believe is gray in color) are really getting sick of it!!! I don't expect you to understand what I write here because you seem too filled with hate. And that makes people like "The Field Negro" blogger completely blind despite 'color' supposedly being the problem! Very ironic indeed! However, with less fear by people to tell the truth about ALL forms of racism, and more attention on sites like this, it will certainly get better. I am grateful to be able to counter field negro's twisted, hateful, racist opinions and comments.
