Here is how a typical weeknight goes in the field household:
It starts with the the field and Mrs. Field coming home from work, (not necessarily at the same time) and breaking into their different routines.
Mrs. Field goes to her lap top, and does who knows what. It's usually something work related, because she has a bunch of crap spread out on the table that always leaves the field flummoxed. Then she chats with her sister in Louisiana on the phone for lord knows how long (Thank goodness for the AT&T flat rate). And then she starts to watch television (usually TV One and game shows) until the television starts watching her.
The field, on the other hand, goes to his corner of the world to work on his computer. This is where he does his blogging and an assortment of other things. In the field's work room the television is always on news or politics. This is is where the field usually stays until he colapses at the computer.
But tonight is different. Tonight is Super Tuesday. And as the field tries to concentrate on his blogging and other stuff he needs to get done, Mrs. Field is sitting behind him intently watching all the political news programs. The field wants to know from Mrs. Field what gives; and she proceeds to tell the field that she is trying to see how Barack is doing.....Barack is doing? "I thought you weren't interested in this race?" "Well I changed my mnd" Mrs. Field says. "I am into Barack now, I really do want him to win."
This is,to the field, like hearing that he will be spending an evening at a Mitt Romney rally. As the field tries to concentrate on his blogging and the news on the television, Mrs. Field is working hard trying to to figure out how the "O" man is doing. The field knows this because Mrs. Field is asking lots of questions about the process and what different wins mean in different states. The field is assuring her that the race will be close. That the "O" man is really winning some delgates even in states that he lost, such as New York. And, to top it off, he is doing well in caucus states. Deaf ears, because girlfirend is glued and totally engrossed in the television set.
How did this happen? How did an Obamaholic actually end up in the field's own house? My god is there no escaping you people? Now the field will have to watch everything he eats and drinks. Can't have Mrs. field slipping any Kool Aid in the drink . Or, any "O" pepper or "O" salt in the field's food.
Mrs. Field is mad now, she just saw that the "O" man lost New Jersey and New York. "They won't let him win will they?" "Who is they?" The field asks. "You know who they are negro". Whenever Mrs. Field gets mad she calls the field, Negro. Mrs. field is fuming, she is not a happy camper. The field isn't sure why. "Hey didn't the "O" man win Utah and North Dakota? It just goes to show that maybe , just maybe, the "O" man has turned the corner on this white vote thing after all." " Don't play with my intelligence field, those states don't have a lot of delegates. I am sorry, I just can't take four more years of yet another Clinton. It will be twenty years of the Clintons and the Bushes for crying out loud!"
Mrs. field is still in the field's work room. Mrs. field is behind the field as he types this very post. Hillary is giving her speech now, and Mrs. Field is talking about her (Hillary) under her breath. The scary thing is, the field didn't even see this coming. It's as if Mrs. Field has been sipping the O Aide in secret all along. "How long have you been an Obamaholic?" The field asks her. "What? Look Negro I don't have time for your little crazy sayings. This is real life field, it's not a joke. You just stick to your blogging. I hope you blog about this, about how these folks are trying hard to make the worst candidate win."
The field doesn't even think of looking back. But the field can feel the eyes. So the head stays down, and the field keeps typing. The field is praying that the "O" man pulls out some Western states late. Because messing with you Obamaholics on the web is one thing, but living with one is quite another.
ROTFL
ReplyDeleteGreat post, field. I think I woke up my roommate laughing at that one.
Go Obamaholics! (Yeah, I'm one too....)
p.s. You know you like the Koolaid...
ReplyDeleteYou think this stuff is mad-crazy---I have been a rash all over the right wing blogs and they are stone tripping over McCain for some odd reason. Some are plain hostile and pulling their hair out, others are hiding it with snide digs at Obama, or Hillary, or even saying it's a victory that Hillary won Mass. and thus the Kennedys are meaningless. see www.tigerhawk.blogspot.com for example.
ReplyDeleteThis thing is going down to the Convention, Field. And Barack looks good as long as the money is there--which he needs to counteract the white women and the Judas blacl politicians. Perhaps a Deus ex machina from Al Gore will tip the scales?
Brace yourself--Pennsylvania will be the final arbiter of world history. We'll try to finish Hiollary off in Maryland, but you all might be the "decider" as our Prez sez. better tell those brothers to stop shooting all the registered voters...
Tough living with an Obamaholic, field? Just remember the immortal words of Frederick Douglas: "If there is no struggle, there is no progress."
ReplyDeleteAnd Mrs. field sounds like one of them tough sisters, like Michelle Obama. Don't argue, field; don't mess with the sistah or you may literally end up in the field for sho!
sshh...(see if you can find the kool aid and throw it out).
I hate projections! Obama was ahead in CA for a second. I was a bit disappointed that Barack lost in TN. Blah!
ReplyDeleteThis one is going down to the wire Field. I don't like it. I don't like it at all. Lets just hope the money keeps coming in for the "O" man.
My stomach is doing flip flops like I'm the one that's vying for office. lol
"p.s. You know you like the Koolaid..."
ReplyDeleteNope! Unless girlfriend is slipping some in some other drink :)
"sshh...(see if you can find the kool aid and throw it out)."
Good idea macdaddy!
Chris, you are right, this bad boy might be heading to Denver. Although they are calling Cali for the Ice Queen.
I agree with you about Teddy Liberal. I don't think his endorsement did much for the "O" man.
Should be fun.
USA Today and AP earlier projected that Hillary Clinton won MO... I think they're wrong my friend. It looks like Mr. Obama might show Hillary up in the Show Me State.
ReplyDelete"Mrs. Field is mad now, she just say that the "O" man lost New Jersey and New York. "They won't let him win will they?" "Who is they?" The field asks. "You know who they are negro". Whenever Mrs. Field gets mad she calls the field, Negro. Mrs. field is fuming, she is not a happy camper."
ReplyDeleteNo fair! Tell Mrs. Field, no knee-jerk blame whitey stuff tonight! O-man won the whitest of the white states... Utah, North Dakota, Colorado.
I hate to break it to Mrs. Field or the rest of the Obamaholics that white men are trending for the "O"man. The states he LOST tell the real story; if he wants this nomination, he has to find a way to convince Latinos and NYC immigrants (lots of Jamaicans going for Hilldog, Field) and old folks that he's got what it takes.
White boys are more on his bandwagon than hers. Geez.
You're right Jimbo. Obama need the latino vote---no question!
ReplyDeleteHe may have "lost" Cali but he still won delegates. He's got $$$ to spend and if he plans this right, he can take it. The key is to yeah, break the white women wide open and get ALL these traitorous negroes like Dellums cowed.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, as i said, compared to the fratricide going on on the GOP side, this ain't nothing. I heard some bigwig rightwing money folk in Texas are trying to buck up Huckabee now.
Clinton showed tonight she has a lock on Latinos, male and female alike. Barrack needs to break into that segment if he wants to win this thing.
ReplyDeleteHe's got Louisiana, Maryland and Virginia coming up; he knows he can rely on blacks to back him up there. He's also got support from lots of liberal whites and college educated whites in Wisconsin and Washington state. I think all those states will give him a win.
Clinton's plan is to hang in for the next month while Obama takes victory after victory in these relatively small states. You know, challenge him to some debates, maybe rack up some good endorsements, anything to get peoples' eyes off of him.
Then, March 4; Texas and Ohio. She's banking on Latinos in Texas and working class whites in Ohio to deliver the win in both states. Victory in both, even with Barrack wins in MD and VA, could clinch it for her.
So that's the map for the next month.
Barrack needs to start saying "Si se puede" more often at those rallies.
Dang it, California!
ReplyDeleteI've heard from several friends about shady happenings at polling places. Lots of confusion about non-partisan voters out here. And the people at my polling place were clueless.
@dragon horse, previous post:
ReplyDeleteHe was also endorsed by La Opinion, the largest Spanish language paper in the L.A. Metro Area...we will see. Get ready to eat crow if Hispanics vote for Hillary by 80% again.
I hate to steal dragon horse's thunder, but she knew what I knew, Hispanics are not going to vote for a black man in large numbers.
I don't know if Hillary is winning Hispanic votes by 80%, but I know that she's garnered more Hispanic and Asian votes than Obama.
None of this surprises me, once you know how these two groups think.
Once again, black/brown coalitions are myths. Hispanics will court black votes (Check out Antonio Villaraigosa, former Chair of MEChA, Major of L.A., and a Hillary supporter to boot, who gained that office thanks to a large turn out of blacks in L.A. for him), but will not support blacks in equal numbers.
Another myth: many Hispanics don't support illegal immigration or amnesty. It's Hispanic leaders and activists groups that drive it. Hence, MAPA, and La Opinion's endorsement of Obama fell on deaf ears.
Check here if you wish to know what some of these reconquista's are saying.
If these activists are successful, let me assure you, there will be no place for blacks in their brave new world.
I hate to give Larry Elder a plug, of all people, but his discussion of Mexico, and their treatment of their black population, coincide with much of what I've learned over the years about their treatment of blacks and illegal aliens in their midst.
You can find the discussion by right clicking your mouse and selecting Open in New Window.
To forestall a rush to judgment here, by some of you thinking that I'm spewing hate and racial division, let me say this: I would welcome black/brown cooperation on matters of common interest.
We've been there for them, but, all too often, they have abandoned us.
The Fire Next Time,
ReplyDeleteYou might not be so off with that. The stats I read earlier showed that 6/10 hispanics went for Hillary.
Mexico is a joke. They are cruel to immigrants coming from other countries, and sometimes they even kill them. A great article on this is in the current issue of National Geographic.
By chance I HIGHLY recommend it to all of you guys because it has a damned good article on Taharqa and the black pharaohs that came from the Sudan. I'm collecting it myself.
To get back on topic, I'm glad that he's only behind her by less than 100 (per the stats I saw on CNN just now) and I still think he can win. I'm still riding for him.
Great story Field!
So far it looks like Obama is doing far better with white male voters than expected (he may even have received a majority of their votes in CA?). Hispanics (voting about 60% for Clinton nationwide?) are not as 'one sided' a voting bloc as African Americans, but it looks like the COMBINATION of Hispanic, Asian and white female voters will tip this one for Hillary. The Republicans couldn't wish for a better sparring partner come autumn!
ReplyDelete@meditations71:
ReplyDeleteSo far it looks like Obama is doing far better with white male voters than expected....
I think there might be some white male chauvinism showing here. Could be wrong. Would like to have some whites posting here confirm, or refute.
@seattle slim:
They are cruel to immigrants coming from other countries, and sometimes they even kill them.
You're right. And the Mexican government excoriates us just for withholding driver's licenses and citizenship from Mexican illegals in this country.
The irony: Mexican illegals get better treatment here than they receive in their own country.
Just for the record: it appears that Obama is positioning himself to be Hillary's running mate if he doesn't succeed in his bid for the White House.
Just saying; don't kill the messenger!
I'm sorry, man. Here's my regards. That's gotta sting a bit.
ReplyDeleteI KNEW Mrs. Field was one of us! Er..let me come out...I'm Kellybelle and I'm an Obamaholic. Let her blog an entry, Field, pleeeeeeeeaaase? You think she might want to hang out at the mall with me? My treat at the Food Court.
ReplyDeletefnt: "Just for the record: it appears that Obama is positioning himself to be Hillary's running mate if he doesn't succeed in his bid for the White House."
ReplyDeleteNO WAY would Obama ever take second fiddle to the KKKlintons if Hillary Clinton were nominated. No way! Not after the string of race-baiting after Iowa. Not after the vote suppression. Not after all the other reprehensible tactics and sheer arrogance of the KKKlinton campaign.
On top of this, now they're saying that close to 1,000,000, mostly pro-Obama votes in California were disqualified at the behest of the Clinton campaign due to some technicality with the Independents. So the Clinton vote fraud continues!
We would lose all respect for Obama if he took the House Negro role after this.
Basically, this would be validating the KKKlintons' despicable, racist, vote-suppressing campaign tactics, and it would make this open season against Black (and Latino) candidates in the future-- because then, just about any White candidate in the primaries could push the most poisonous racist crap against a minority candidate, and then be forgiven for it.
For that reason, if the Democrats really were to drink the Kool-Aid and nominate Hillary, then Obama must never, ever even consider a running-mate spot. And above all, African-Americans must never vote for the Clintons. Most of my friends would either stay home, or vote for McKinney or Nader on a 3rd-party ticket, or even vote for McCain. (He might become the first Republican in decades to win the African-American vote if the Dems nominate Hillary.)
Thankfully, there's a decent chance we won't have to worry about that, the way Obama has been doing. Everyone, open up and contribute to the Obama campaign, and volunteer! This is the big moment to do that!
fnt, on your point about Latinos hating Obama-- it's not true, bud.
ReplyDeleteLook, Hillary won so many Latinos because New York, New Jersey and Arkansas-- all with big Latino populations and all KKKlinton "home states"-- were voting on Feb. 5th.
California had an interesting quirk, in that the early voters (before Ted Kennedy and the La Opinion endorsements for Barack) did give Hillary a big advantage. But among Latinos who voted on Feb. 5th, as people have been writing lately, Obama won a much bigger share, they're saying possibly 40% or even 45%-- not sure about the final numbers.
Also, Obama won a lot of Latinos in Arizona and New Mexico, and Obama won Colorado. This is thanks in part to Latino voters there.
There is some Latino racism against Blacks, but Obama has already made big inroads. They just don't know enough about him yet, but the Kennedy and La Opinion endorsements are just starting to assist Obama among the voters in these demographics.
Hey Now.... please stop the negatives on the Gente... Obama took New Mexico (muchos latinos y indigenous!).... take a look at the NY Times interactive map and check out California.... Obama TOOK the county that has the largest amount of Farm Workers AND he took the Bay area.... he took the most progressive parts of the state as well....(northern/humboldt co) Arizona is a conservative state.... not a surprise there. He also took large amounts in Indigenous people states, Norh Dakota, Alaska and Colorado..... Remember.... La Gente Unida!!! Obama is building momentum. We Obamaholics need to focus on unity... remember, Yes We Can/Si! se Puede!
ReplyDeleteJody
Field:
ReplyDelete"(CNN) – Sen. Hillary Clinton can thank Latino and Asian voters for her projected victory in California. Early exit polls indicate that Sen. Barack Obama carried white voters in California because of his overwhelming support among white men. White women, as in other states, more often supported Clinton. Black voters overwhelmingly favored Obama but Asian voters, whose numbers are comparable to blacks, went overwhelmingly for Clinton. The deciding factor may have been Latinos, who make up roughly 30 percent of California's Democratic vote. They went for Clinton by a two-to-one margin."
Look at the exit data from New Mexico. Obama only won it due to whites.
As I said...Mexicans and Central American hispanics are not good for a black man's health.
water carrier:
ReplyDeletefnt, on your point about Latinos hating Obama-- it's not true, bud.
wc, reread my statements. I didn't say that Latinos hated Obama, bud.
I said, they will reluctantly support black candidates, although blacks have given them their support time and time again. I used Antonio Villaraigosa as an example of a Mexican-American who became Mayor with the support of blacks, and then turned around and gave his support to Hillary.
I'll say this much: I don't think that Mexicans identify with us to the same degree that they identify with whites.
And over the long haul we can't depend on them to be there for us to the same extent that we have been there for them.
That's not hate, that's reality.
But just to let you know it's not about hate for me, I hope I'm proved wrong.
Barack Obama won thirteen states, a clear majority:
ReplyDeleteAlaska
Missouri
Colorado
Idaho
Minnesota
Connecticut
North Dakota
Utah
Kansas
Alabama
Delaware
Illinois
Georgia
If the numbers hold, Obama now has 811 delegates and the Borg Queen has 894 delegates.
2025 delegates are needed to win the nomination.
While Obama is favored among African American voters, I find it extremely interesting that he carried the day in states like Utah, Idaho and Colorado. These states have large white voting blocks.
I would've liked it, obviously, if he had won California but it looks like Obama and the Borg Queen will split the delegates from the Golden State.
This race isn't over. Far from it
Fire: Don't know whether you need white voters to 'confirm' or 'refute' anecdotally here. The voting data does seem to suggest that Obama has significantly increased his white (male) support.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, given that the race is still close in terms of delegates and that Clinton is ahead largely to the results in big coastal states, this may well work to Obama's advantage in the primaries to come. After all, folks in the rest of the USA won't necessarily think that following the lead of states like New York and California is the thing to do - in fact, they may well feel the exact opposite...
Field, forgot to mention.... I cracked up laughing reading this post... thanks for a good way to start my day.
ReplyDeleteAlso, notice its the pundits of corporate media putting on the divide and conqueor anaylsis(Cnn says blah, blah, blah)... I say f@#! them... they have been wrong on so much already...
I spent a week in Atlanta at the US Social Forum, a gathering of 10,000 amazing community people and the work toward solidarity, wow, inspiring.
The most amazing moment for me was when a panel of folks talkin about post Katrina had a speaker, an immigrante from S. Amer., tell his story of being brought and bought to work on the clean up. He told of the dangerous conditions for the latinos that had been brought in by the big corps. Then he spoke of the tensions between the Latinos and the Black community in NOLO... He said he came to realize that he was a part of the "new slaves." So now he works as an organizer and that when the "old slaves and the new slaves unite for justice, there will be justice for ALL peoples... it tore the house DOWN!
Thats what Obama is talkin about!
Jody
@christopher:
ReplyDeleteBarack Obama won thirteen states, a clear majority...
Clearly an encouraging sign. His success in Utah, Idaho and Colorado is stunning.
Field great article and the comments were good. To get the Latino vote maybe the O man needs to advertise on that Spanish speaking station more. Field you said "that the O man was a ladies man" did you not?
ReplyDelete@anon, 6:53 AM
ReplyDeleteAfter all, folks in the rest of the USA won't necessarily think that following the lead of states like New York and California is the thing to do - in fact, they may well feel the exact opposite...
Good point! Thanks.
Next up is Chesapeake Tuesday on February 12.
ReplyDeletePrimaries will be held in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, all states where Obama is expected do well.
On balance, the Ohio and Texas primaries on March 4 may present a challenge for Obama because the hispanic voters who were pivotal for Clinton in California are found in large numbers in Texas.
Barack must carry the Chesapeake states.
I call them Obama stans(stalker fans), but I like Obamaholics as well. Maybe there are many stages of Obama-holism.
ReplyDeleteBut I think this post was hysterical.
Obama won because he defied all pre race expectations. This bad boy was supposed to be OVER by Super Tuesday. It was supposed to be an inevitable coronation and the more people get a look at Obama, the more they like him.
I think it is interesting that in California, Obama won the White vote, but lost the Asian and Latino vote. There isn't another big state like Cali or Ny out there. That leave Texas, my home state. I didn't think my vote would count.
There has not been an Democratic nomination this competetive in 16 years. half a lifetime ago.
As a political junkie, I am loving it.
field, you better cook your own food and hire a secret taste tester, because I am a living witness, that these Obama stans are not to be messed with. Koolaide is hard to detect until you find your self shouting "YES WE CAN!" and start believing in the dream
" please stop the negatives on the Gente... Obama took New Mexico (muchos latinos y indigenous!).... take a look at the NY Times interactive map and check out California.... Jody: This is spot on. I hope people remember that many Californians voted before February 5th, before Michelle Obama, Caroline Kennedy and Opera came to town. I'm checking to see the percentage of Latinos who voted for Obama on February 5th. Some pundits say it could be as high as40% voted for Obama. Given the hold Sen. Clinton has on them, that's pretty good.

I Love the post. Fields are you sure you are not a closet Obamaholic?
ReplyDeleteGo Obama
In the words of Nelson from the Simpsons -- Ha ha!!! What did Chris Rock say, "it doesn't make sense to hate anybody, because whoever you hate ends up in your family." Not that you hate Obama, but you get my drift. And don't worry about the Kool-Aid Field, just give me Mrs. Field's email and I'll send her a special Spaghetti recipe we like to make down here in the lowcountry. :-)Its been known to make men do things they wouldn't normally do. LOL, not that I believe in practicing roots or anything. Just give up the ghost man and come on and join us. Check out this video by Will I. Am and others -- Yes We Can!!

"No fair! Tell Mrs. Field, no knee-jerk blame whitey stuff..."
ReplyDeleteJimbo, to be fair to Mrs. Field, I think when she said "they", she was talking more about the democratic establishment and party machine. (Hey she lives in Philly she knows all about that)Don't be so sensitive :)
I see where the "O" man won Alaska, and utah. Ain't too many of us there.
And I agree with Macdaddy, what's with all the hating on my amigos? Yes Mexico has a f****d up ruling class, but have you seen the folks in power there? I think the "O" man got something like 34% of the Hispanic vote in Cali, that ain't bad. And remember, a lot of these people we are demonizing still have no voting power.
"You think she [Mrs. Field] might want to hang out at the mall with me? My treat at the Food Court."
kellybelle,be careful what you wish for :)
If you don't have an entire day to kill, don't even mention Mrs. Field and a mall :)
"Fields are you sure you are not a closet Obamaholic?"
Yep, pretty sure :)
Here's your latest update at 07:23 Central time
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico: Obama with 49% of the vote and Hillary with 48%, only 1,000 votes separating with 92% reporting.
California is still counting:
Clinton with 52% and Barack with 42% with 9% remaining to be counted.
I think that's important because Obama started at 33% today and has been climbing ever since. He won't win the state, but he'll take a large chunk of delegates.
To be a fly on that wall last night..lol!
ReplyDeleteIn any case...Hillary will likely be behind at the end of this month:
ReplyDeleteMy picks for the rest of the Month:
Louisiana - Decisive for Obama
Nebraska - Decisive for Obama
Washington - Obama (barely)
U.S. Virgin Island - Decisive for Obama
Maine - Hillary
District of Columbia - Decisive for Obama
Maryland - Decisive for Obama
Virginia - Obama lead with a delegate Split
Hawaii - Obama by a nose
Wisconsin - toss up...I think it favors Obama, it will be a dead heat.
The Hillary campaign already knows they will be behind by the end of this month this is why in her speech last night she talked up March. A Clinton campaigner said they expect Obama to do well in the Potomac regions, tehy are basically conceding. They think their strength will be in Texas and Ohio in March.
It is thought Obama has more money than Hillary right now and has the ability to raise more as Hillary is largely maxed. We will see how true that is.
In the end it will come down to is Obama can win enough small states by large enough margins to overtake Hillary's big state advantage. It is possible, but it will be very very tight, as it was last night. In the end I predict no one will get a majority and this will be a brokered convention, which is not good for Obama as the Clinton machine has a lock on the Democratic party (as it has since Bill left office, despite the recent rebellion of some establishment figures).
Hillary is still leading in Super Delegates, but most of them are still uncommitted, and they can switch votes at any time before the convention so the media should stop reporting them in final tallies.
First, off, thanks for the shout out. Youve blown up since I was reppin the government name...props to you.
ReplyDeleteIm in the opposite situation...
I am an Obama supporter (not a stan...im too politically inside to be a stan) married to a Hillary supporter. (yes, she's black...i KNOW what sommma y'all are thinking)
She came out for Hillary the day Bill Left office and shes having a hard go of it watching the O-mentum mount.
Thing is, she's a levepuller. She votes. Mostly in the General Election. For the Democratic Party.
She doesn't care about the machinations or the gory details...
All she knows is:
Bill was a good president (a fact ive tried at LENGTH to bring some depth and context to)
Hillary is a good smart woman and she..."deserves" it, based on her track record (another issue ive tried to bring some depth to)
End of the day. She aint tryina hear it.
She Loves Obama but she supports Hillary...and I can't say anything to her.
Im gonna drag her ass to a Obama forum if he hits the DFW.
I'm with Mrs. Field. I don't want another Bush or Clinton in the whitehouse for more of the same over the next 4-8 years. Mess around and Jeb will throw his hat in the ring in 2012! 20 years of Clinton/Bush rule is already enough but truthfully we're looking at 30 when we recall Daddy Bush's 8 years as VP with Reagan beginning in 1980! We're coming up on the end of the first decade of the 21st century already. Time for a CHANGE!
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, but it's true...when push came to shove in Calif., my home State, racism & party machinery prevailed...10% victory for Billary ? This absolutely guarantees a McCain presidency...the pary sees to it she wins at the Dem Convention, the haters unite against her in Nov & youth & Blacks stay at home...result: McCain wins! The sad part is the false hope created by allowing Barak to get "so near" yet keeping him away "so far."
ReplyDelete@ Seattle,
ReplyDelete"...By chance I HIGHLY recommend it to all of you guys because it has a damned good article on Taharqa and the black pharaohs that came from the Sudan. I'm collecting it myself."
I bought that issue for my daughter's collection. I need to buy another copy for reading.
The post was hilarious. I hear what Mrs. Field is saying. I am worried about Hillary's coalition. Women over 45 and Latinos came out in record numbers for HRC. Barack beat Hillary among white men. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteAt least we are not the Republicans. Christopher is right, the other side is doing their best to stop McCain. The far-right is really out of control. They would rather have Huckabee be the nom?
Hillary or Barack would stomp him in a general election once more of his views became better know.
OK, I live in Northern Virginia and this state's treading BLUE with a quickness.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the proximity of Northern Virginia to the DC Beltway, I think I can safely report the following:
(1) There are huge Ron Paul for President saturating Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax Counties. Obama signs showed up within the last two weeks, and the Borg Queen's signs just started showing up, as if she conceeding Virginia to Obama, along with the rest of the South, save Florida and Texas. Obama swooped up Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, probably North Carolina.
(2) Blame the Dark Sith for Obama's loss in Tennessee. That, and the fact that outside Memphis, there aren't enough Black people or progressive whites to overcome the Borg Queen - plus, I'm beginning to think Black Tennesseans are content to be under Jim Crow living.
I think this will not be decided until the National Convention, and if Al Gore decides to endorse the "O" man (after the way the Clinton's shat on his POTUS' chances, just how charitable you think Al Gore is feeling towards Bill and Hillary these days? Especially since that Vanity Fair article all but confirmed Bill sabotaged Gore's chances at the White House to pave the way for Hillary.)
I'm a political junkie and yet, I need a second wind right now.
Field, you would do well to just keep the peace with Mrs. Field until it's all over in November. Think you can manage that for the next seven months? LOL
Woozie is pleased that Mr. Negro's wife is addicted to Obamahol, Woozie senses the the Obamaramamamamania charging through her veins. Woozie is happy that another Obamaholic has come out and supported The O Man.
ReplyDeleteI think this bears repeating:
ReplyDeleteTHE BORG QUEEN TURNED ON THE WATER WORKS THE DAY BEFORE SUPER TUESDAY, and she won the states that mattered, although she will have to split my home state of California with Obama.
That said, I'm pleased at how many states with near-zero African American populations that went for Obama - they are basically saying "NO MORE PRESIDENTS NAMED BUSH OR CLINTON".
I get to vote next Tuesday, and yeah, I'm pulling the lever for Obama, and only because Edwards dropped out of the race. Period.
Does that make me an Obamaholic?
I'm pleased at how many states with near-zero African American populations that went for Obama...
ReplyDeleteExactly.
No one can ever again say with any credibility that white Americans won't vote for a black candidate.
When Utah, Idaho and Colorado said "YES" to Barack Obama and "NO" to the Borg Queen, we know an important page has finally been turned in this country.
"the pary sees to it she wins at the Dem Convention, the haters unite against her in Nov & youth & Blacks stay at home...result: McCain wins! The sad part is the false hope created by allowing Barak to get "so near" yet keeping him away "so far."

If Hillary becomes the Democratic nominee as a result of super delegates (which could happen, since the DNC, the leadership of the Democratic party), and McCain makes Huckabee or a strong conservative a VP, Hillary will lose. Why? Because white males and independents will vote for warmonger McCain; Because conservatives despise both Hillary and her husband with an intensity normally reserved for rapists and pedophiles; Because most progressives, who despise both Clintons almost as much, will write in Kucinich, Mckinney or someone else or not vote; and because young people will be understandably too turned off by the warped process to show up at the polls (They don't show up in high numbers anyway; and because the Latino, rabib feminist and the elderly vote will not compensate for the loss of the white male, black folk and progressive votes.
No doubt it: If Hillary gets the nomination, a lot of black folks won't vote. They were willing to forgive Hillary for voting to get us into a pre-emptive, illegal and unnecessary war, going along with a warmonger president without protest. But (a prelude to war by Bush), even going along with Bush's people spying on American people. But they will never forget the racist, deceitful strategy Hillary and hubby Bill deployed to make Obama appear as just another black candidate ala Jessie Jackson. If she gets the Democrat's nomination, a lot of black folks will stay at home. Moreover, some of them will begin doing something we black folks should have done years ago: few may do what we should have done a long time ago: Organizing a black independent political party.
Look--I've been on the "other" side as well, and McCain winning over Hillary isn't the disaster you might think. The GOP HNICs are terrified of thi old white man. Frankly, they fear Huckabee. Yeah he's a right wing Christian Taliban, but look--he's alos a populist. He would sign a law outlawing abortion and Islam, but he'd also sign a law mandating universal health care coverage and windfall profits taxes on Big Oil.
ReplyDeleteThe other scare for the Dems--for the first time since Lyndon Johnson, you have huge chunks of whte males attracted to a Democratic candidate. White females ages 36-60 cannot carry an election, no matter how hard Hillary cries...
Field, you and Ms. Field are hilarious. "Why won't they let him win?" Ha!
ReplyDeleteSpot on MacDaddy. I will definately give my vote to McCain(or no one) over Hillary anyday.
I think that people are putting too much emphasis on Hillary winning the so called big states. It is possible to win the general election without winning a lot of big states. Just look at Kerry v. Bush in 2004...
And I do think that Barack is going to have to court the hispanic vote at some point which irks me to no end because as someone else pointed out, they simply aren't as supportive of us as we are as them. I wish he could find a way to get elected without that demographic...
My wife who's a white mid 50's American is a solid Hillary vote. I've tried to point her to Obama (she always calls him Osama), no chance of that happening.
ReplyDeleteOur friend from Texas(Mexican) phoned this morning, so I asked her if she would vote Obama? Nope. Sees him as to far right. She told me her parents wouldn't vote for a black man at gunpoint.
I wonder if the Obama support among Hispanics is along age/education lines?
I want to back track to the earlier comments on Latinos and the irresponsible links to some online "sources" that tries desperately to paint us a picture of the "Brown Tide" that is to swallow the "rest of us" and wash us out into sea. Posts like that prove that you don't need white racist instigating and fueling Black and Brown tension; we (blacks AND Latinos) are doing a damn good job all by ourselves. Is there a handful of latinos who think they are the "other white meat?" on the face of the American landscape? Yes, but they are just as bad as those who among the black community who feel a certain closeness to massa 'cuz we speaks his language and died 'neath his flag in times of war longer than the other brown-skinned americans. Read Cobb's posts on immigration. The problem in regards to this little exercise in farcical democracy is that you can't cast aspersions on an entire racial group just because they didn't "vote" for one of us. We have no idea what the party hacks within the Latino communities are telling people in how they should "vote", but they do have a right to do whatever they want even if some are "voting" because they really are die-hartd Dems, or out of racial hate/self-hate (nobody can do anything right but white people, or misinformation spread by party hacks. The sad thing is, the earlier posts above reflect what I feel is being said of black people in the Clinton household; that we are a untrustworthy, ungrateful lot who SHOULD ALWAYS be loyal to ANY Democrat as long as that Democrat is white and male.
ReplyDeleteSome of you have written that the Black/Latino coalition is a myth. Well, you are sort of right. There has never been some national wide coalition that I know of that has authority over how people of color should vote. But there HAVE been grass roots coalitions here and there depending on the issues that arose effecting blacks and latinos, but that was happening in the 60s and 70s and usually amongst working class blacks and latinos. But then both communities simultaneously gained their middle class and both communities also lost their working class to downsizing, poverty, drugs, and gentrification. The middle classes found themselves in conflict with each other over promotions, etc., and the working classes of each group...well you know how that plays out amongst the poor; fighting or killing over meager resources. The thing is, both of groups could be a force to reckon with, I'm sure those of the ruling class saw that and will do whatever they can to keep blacks and browns form wrecking shop. So let's not play into that crap no matter how bad things are between latinos and us.
I've been on the fence, but I'll get off:

He made a true believer of me last night.
He took it to her in all 22 states and won 14.
Period.
He won where the only time they see a Black person is on tv or in the movie theater.
He won in the Deep South.
He won in the West.
He won in the East.
He wasn't supposed to do any of it. She was supposed to be crowned last night.
Here's my post about it:
Obama and Super Tuesday - the morning after
BREAKING
ReplyDeleteWith New Mexico finally counted and in Obama's column, Barack won the most delegates on Super Tuesday.
Delegate totals:
Barack Obama: 838
Hillary Clinton: 834
Yeah, baby!

ReplyDeleteI'm like Mrs. Field in that I didn't pay much attention for awhile, but I have been reading and watching and listening.
What I am seeing today is history in the making. I'll be 40 yrs. old this year and I NEVER believed I would see something like this Obama phenomenon.
My favourite journo, John Pilger, has written an article in the New Statesman about your upcoming election, which all of us outside the USA, should have a vote, since we are bombarded with it every four years just like you all over there. John has covered US elections since the ´60´s and wrote that only George C. Wallace told the truth...."there is no difference between the Repukelicants and the Demoncrats"...i think he´s got a point...(like we in the UK (actually i just moved from there...have the Conservatives and New Labour, i used to be a Labour man, but they be worse than the Tory´s in many a way). But check this, John Pilger went on to say that the O-man is an glossy Uncle Tom that would bomb Pakistan. Hillary, another bomber is anti-feminist. They along with McCain believe the US is not subject to the rules of human behaviour, because it is a "city upon a hill," regardless that most of humanity sees it as a monumental bully which since 1945 has overthrown 50 governments, many of them democracies, and bombed 30 nations, destroying millions of lives. Ouch, but like Wallace, true.
ReplyDeleteDamn, after last nights results, it looks like Imma have to vote for Obama in the Chesapeake Tuesday. And I was going to write in my cat - Ivan for President!

On my trip through cyberspace today I read one of my favor op-ed columnists(Eric Margolis) articles. He has some very interesting thoughts on the presidential race.
ReplyDeleteSo far, Obama has managed to get away with claiming he is a Christian and has no Muslim background. But it’s clear he does, having a Muslim father. When more Americans become aware of this awkward fact, Barak Obama could face an uphill struggle. Anti-Muslim prejudice is so high in America that even a Muslim grandparent could be the political kiss of death.
If Obama cannot evade this problem, or falters on 5 Feb, Hillary Clinton will become the Democratic candidate. Faced with widespread male disapproval, she could lead her party to defeat and the nation to another Republican victory. This time led by a hardliner who likes to sing about bombing Iran and was actually a war hero.
http://www.ericmargolis.com/archives/2008/02/the_republicans.php#comments
You know damn well the Repub. smear machine will have this fact all over the TV as well as every other form of media. While Hillary might have sort of played a race card, the Repubs will for sure play it loud and proud. I agree this may be enough for many voters to question the vote they will cast for Pres.
MSNBC reporting Hillary raised $13 million in Janurary & loaned her campaign $5 million dollars in order to keep up with Obama!
ReplyDeleteUh oh--- her big donors have maxed out!

What some of us are saying, Field, is that we don't think that Latinos are on our side to the degree that is often suggested here.
It won't do us any good to pretend otherwise, just because we'd like to have them in our camp rather than in the white one.
We don't use the N-word in our house, but we use the hell of the word Negro.
ReplyDeleteExactly Fire. I think it would be very naive of us to believe that Latinos are going to go vote for Barack in mass numbers when historically they have not done so for other black candidates. I live in a state close to Texas and it is very evident that some Latinos down here have bought into the hype that they can be as good, if not better than "the man" if only they work hard enough. If any race was trying to get someone out the way in order to become one with the whites, I'd say it would actually be them...I think most blacks understand that we will always be a struggling minority but Latinos are still holding onto the belief of true equality, even if that means throwing us under the bus in the process.
ReplyDeleteAgain, this is not a one size fits all equation.
It's getting even sweeter, y'all.
ReplyDeleteCNN is reporting the Borg Queen's campaign is in such dire financial straights that staffers are being asked to wave a salary.
Maybe Barack Obama bury Hillary Clinton and then take it all the way to November and the White House!
Hi I'm grim and I'm an Obamaholic.

QUOTE***"When Utah, Idaho and Colorado said "YES" to Barack Obama and "NO" to the Borg Queen, we know an important page has finally been turned in this country."***QUOTE
As a resident of Utah I have to say I am proud of the Democrats in Utah for supporting Obama but there's very little chance of Obama winning a general election in either Idaho or Utah (Colorado is up for grabs I think). Utah voted for Mitt "who let the dogs out" Romney by a 90% margin and I would wager there's not a chance in hell that Utah, a state that is less than 30% blue voters could give a democrat black or white a majority to get our 5 whopping electoral votes. You could put a piece of shit on a plate attach an "R" to it and Utah would vote for it. Same with Idaho.
Meanwhile I'll bask in the win in my lily white state for the O man.
I cast my only vote for the year that matters last night because a vote for anyone but an R come November in Utah doesn't mean anything because it's winner take all.
@grown:
ReplyDeleteI think most blacks understand that we will always be a struggling minority but Latinos are still holding onto the belief of true equality, even if that means throwing us under the bus in the process.
I agree....
All they need, grown, is a large enough bus, and we blacks are all too eager to accommodate them.
Ok...this question is off target, but in a previous comment post someone posted a link to a vote choose site. it was a site that allowed you see what candidate you were closest to in beliefs. It wasn't a votechooser.com. I believe it was almost like a dutch site or something like that.

Does anyone know if there is any data on how Obama would have done if early votes are filtered out in Cali?
ReplyDeleteJust asking because if I'm not mistaken, California has been accepting early votes for over a month - before things started to get nasty and before the Obama-Tsunami (not wave). I wonder how many people who voted early now wish they could change their vote...
A columnist for the Washington Times said straight up that Obama is more electable than Hillary Clinton Here's the commentary:
ReplyDelete----------------------------Hillary the lesser threat to McCain
By Joseph Curl
February 6, 2008
Sen. John McCain, who was campaigning yesterday in New York, likely would draw conservatives back to the Republican fold.
Sen. John McCain, who took a major step last night toward locking down the Republican nomination, matches up in a general election far better against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton than Sen. Barack Obama, according to election strategists and pollsters.
"With Hillary Clinton, John McCain would start as a very moderate favorite," pollster Scott Rasmussen said. "McCain would have the edge among independent voters. He is viewed very favorably by independents and Senator Clinton struggles in that area."
Pollster John Zogby agreed, saying, "Obama does better against McCain than Hillary does because she is so polarizing. ... A lot of people will simply be voting against her."
The senator from Arizona beats the senator from New York in 14 of 17 head-to-head polls taken since Dec. 6, but he wins just five of 17 against the senator from Illinois over the same period. Analysts say Mrs. Clinton is so divisive that she would drive moderates and some independents to Mr. McCain. Mr. Obama, conversely, could draw from the pool of supporters who have delivered wins to Mr. McCain in a host of presidential primaries.
"Hillary Clinton will help drive conservatives and independents McCain's way overnight," said Republican strategist Scott Reed. "I believe that would be a more attractive race for Republicans."
I am going to tell you the truth field. Like him or not Obama & Clinton have thrown a lifeline to voter participation. whether it will last until Nov. I don't know. What happened is a lot of people don't like Politics. I was watching super Tuesday yestday and my momma told me to change the channel she doesn't like politics, but put a black man and a White woman who is a Clinton and suddenly they are interested in the game. See before it was I don't pay attention ow just some more white guys running who's the dem that's who I'll vote for. It is like driving down the road and all you see is trees, but when in this sea of trees you see a huge lake you suddenly perk up.
ReplyDelete404kim, no link but there was a news report showing that Obama won more of the votes in California actually cast on Tuesday-- it was about half early, half later on. A lot of these early ballots went to John Edwards.
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Obama pulled to within about single digits in California and racked up lots of delegates, and that's what matters most here.
IOW on Tsunami Tuesday, Obama won the most states (by far), the most votes and the most delegates.
Make no mistake now, it's time to unleash the killer instinct and DESTROY THE CLINTONS now. They are by far the worst, most dangerous enemy to Black America ever since Forrest founded the Klan and rounded up the lynch mobs, and we need to destroy them. If worst comes to worst and they pull BS to get the nomination, even if that means getting McCain elected (with a humiliating loss of the Black vote by the Clintons), then so be it.
Hillary is running desperately short of cash, so much so that she's already injected $5 million of personal money (or, should we say, $5 million of money given as illegal gifts by Kazakh uranium barons and US billionaires to Bill Clinton) into her campaign.
FWIW, they're now saying that this may have been in violation of campaign laws-- when the money you have is from gifts around campaign time, especially from foreign donors, you cannot funnel these into campaigns, otherwise any candidate could mess up the campaign finance laws.
There have already been petitions to the FEC to investigate the Clintons, and now there needs to be concerted action on that front.
FWIW, somebody mentioned some White Supremacist racist paper in Australia, the Sydney Morning Herald, trashing Obama and desperately trying to say Tuesday went in Hillary's favor. I checked their site and it's true.
Australia like people say is possibly the most racist White country in the Western world (the Brits and Australians sure wasted little time working hard to mass-exterminate the Negrito aborigines, just as the British and Americans did to the native Americans here), but even there most of the media organizations have been more even-handed.
This is war people, make no mistake, and militant action is needed to cause severe pain, suffering and unease for White supremacists like the racists at the Sydney Morning Herald who so obviously try to bend the truth to suit their racist agenda. Here's their contact site:
http://www.smh.com.au/contacts/
Write to them, be polite enough that they read it but firmly register your disapproval, let them know that you're contacting your Australian friends to urge them to cancel their SMH subscription (a lot of us do), and make it very unpleasant for them. If they know they're losing money from such racism, and reporters start getting fired, they'll wise up real fast.
Oh and one more thing-- no better time to donate to the Obama campaign and volunteer if feasible:
ReplyDeletehttp://tinyurl.com/39q42v
And for those of you with Latino friends and Spanish fluency, please urge them to volunteer especially, this can help big in the upcoming states especially places like Texas. Obama did make major inroads among Latinos on Tuesday, in Arizona, in New Mexico which he tied, and in Colorado which he won outright.
That endorsement from the La Opinion Spanish-language newspaper that Field takes note of here, really was big-- La Opinion is the marquee newspaper of the Spanish-speaking community in the USA (and it's high-quality too, one of the best papers in this country in any language), and it's only starting to have its effect.
In any case, Obama has already raised close to $5 million in one day and counting. I'll be donating $100 myself (a bit of bonus money), but if you can give $10, $20, $50, whatever, it all helps. Think of it as a downpayment to protect our people, and since we're being helped by sympathetic Whites, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders here (lots of racists among them, lots not), we're having some success.
We need to fight here like pissed-off army ants in the Amazon rain forest attacking those who want to hurt us, devouring them whole, i.e. the Clintons for us. It's time to hit hard.
Pass It Around

Also in fairness, for those of you who have given Cynthia McKinney's run at least some thought, here's her site:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.runcynthiarun.org/
Not my first choice but if the Clintons pull their election theft BS and get nominated, it would be nice to have McKinney in there, getting votes as another way to demonstrate how pissed-off people are at the Clintons.
And people please, stop with any talk about Obama accepting a bone tossed by the Clintons in the form of a VP slot. Obama has too much self-respect for this, and he knows that if he were to take such a position-- especially after the Clintons' racist, fraudulent (against voters) campaign, that it would destroy the prospects of any Black or Latino candidate in the future, since it would allow for racist open-season against minority candidates with the affronts later forgiven.
Forget it.
For the same reason none of us should vote for Hillary if she were nominated. McCain is a Republican but he's somewhat less irritating and at least somewhat more open to reasoned discussion and sensible judicial appointments than the others. He's also going on 72, he's got only one term in him and things would be wide open again in 2012. If Hillary's the nominee, best for her to go down in flames and humiliation in November and destroy the Clintons' corrupt, racist grip on the Democratic Party, once and for all. One way or another, they need to suffer and be evicted.
Popinjay - thanks for the information.

Lieberman Has “Superdelegate” Status Stripped Because of McCain Endorsement
By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday February 6, 2008 6:00 pm (Firedoglake)
Mark Pazniokas:
Thanks to Zell Miller, there is a rule to deal with Joe Lieberman.
Lieberman's endorsement of Republican John McCain disqualifies him as a super-delegate to the Democratic National Convention under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule, according to Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo.
Miller, then a Democratic senator from Georgia, not only endorsed Republican George Bush four years ago, but he delivered a vitriolic attack on Democrat John Kerry at the Republican National Convention.
The Democrats responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate. Lieberman will not be replaced, DiNardo said.

Admiral, it was Obama himself that said recently: he and Hillary were friends before their run for the presidency, and they will be friends afterward.
This sound to me that he's positioning himself either to be her running mate, or to have her as his.
Say what you will, it's now being discussed on CNN, FOX NEWS, etc.

According to Vanity Fair and a few others, Bill Clinton couldn't campaign for Gore because he was too busy campaigning for Hillary for senate. Had Bill come through for Al, things could have been different. There's been this rumor that Gore didn't want Bill's help because of the Monica scandal but this article give an entirely point of view. I don't recall who wrote the Vanity Fair article but it skewered the Clintons for being self serving and sacrificing the presidency in 2000 for Hillary's ambition.
