Oh King, I think you dropped your pic of you and George holding hands: Let me get that for you.

I was going to blog about yet another mass killing in these divided states, (this time it was police officers and not civilians) by a wacko and a certifiable wingnut who thought that the folks with the black helicopters were coming to get his dumb ass and his guns. I was going to blog about it but what's the point? If you motherfuckers want to load up on your assault weapons and kill each other, please free to knock yourselves out. Thanks to your sacred NRA you can buy as much of them[guns] as you want, and any delusional psycho who happens to have lived below the radar of law enforcement all of his miserable pathetic life can get one. (Blogger alert! Nova is getting hosed as a write this, so I am not in a good mood)

So that's it, you win; you won't hear the field talk about your guns and your precious 2nd amendment rights anymore. Train your kids to use em, arm every person in your town, and just go ahead and strap em on like the old days. Hell, let's just have drive thru gun shops. Why even bother with a background check? I mean who are we kidding? Any minor who wants a gun can buy one easier than they can buy a pack of cigarettes, so let's just go for it.

The other thing on my mind tonight is the Obama bow and how my friends on the right are all in a huff over his bending at the waist to a foreign leader, a leader who happened to be a....gasp, MUSLIM! "DID OBAMA BOW DOWN TO SAUDI KING?" (Are his knees touching the ground?Oh wait, that would be kneeling, not bowing) Is that all the wingnuts want to know these days? Not how can we fix the economy; not how can we reduce crime; not how can we get A-merry-cans working again; and not how can we better fight the war on terror. No, the wingnuts want to know if Obama took a bow to a Saudi King. And their reasoning for this is so illogical, nonsensical and absurd, that only a wingnut mind could process it: "No US president is supposed to bow down to a foreign head of state because it indicates submission, and the American president does not submit to anyone". Well, not anyone that looks like a Saudi King. I am pretty sure it would be cool if he bowed to the Queen of England, or even the King of Spain, but this Muslim guy, not so much. And who says the A-merry-can president doesn't submit to anyone? Didn't the frat boy submit to big oil? Didn't he submit to the bankers and Wall Street? Didn't he submit to the neocon-artists in his party? Looks to me like A-merry-can presidents submit all the time.

Honestly, this bow heard round the conservative world has me laughing to myself at the stupidity of these people. Michelle Malkin has got the video up on her blog to dissect it for her wingnut friends. And she wants everyone to know that it was a "deep bow" and not just a curtsy or a slight knee bend. No, it was a BOW. (I could say something here, but I will leave it alone. I don't need the sexist label tonight) Ok Michelle and others, you win, it was a bow. So fucking what?

I swear I love you wingnuts so much that I wish I could bow for you like Obama allegedly did for King Abdullah. But there would have to be two conditions: First, my back would have to be turned to you, and second, my pants would have to be down.

Boy are you off on this one Field. This guy isn't just another musilm: he's one of the worst despots on the whole planet. He's the head of a country where women aren't allowed to drive, religious freedom is non existent, people have their hands and feet cut off etc. Slavery wasn't banned here till 1962; yet, the peculiar institution still exists there. The king of Spain and the queen of England have no real power. The Saudi royal family are absolute monarchs as the head of the government.

  4. Listen up you right wing dumb ass trolls.... Obama has more smarts in his little pinky than you dumb ass mother fuckers have in your entire incestuous clans. He just spent the last week garnering more good will for this country in 4 days than the Shrub boy EVER did in his entire 8 years of driving this country into a ditch.
You and yours LOST this past election. Suck it up instead of going on assinine killing sprees or focusing on stupid inane things.
I have great confidence in President Obama's strategies for dealing with the Saudis... as the old saying goes... you can attract more flies with honey than vinagar.
Obama is not stupid. He knows exactly who the Saudis are and what they are about.... Obama has been 4 steps ahead of you neo-cons for over 2 years now. How do I know that's a fact? Cuz his ass is in the white house and yours is sitting on the sidelines whining about bullshit!

  5. hey field -

in addition to the whole rash of people running into public buildings and shooting all kinds of people (schools, nursing homes, now immigration offices), we also have people killing their children.

I feel like there is so much gun violence (mass gun violence) going on in the past 4-5 months that I'm just startled. Is this what the bad economy brings?

There is another case of gun violence in Tacoma that's just been reported. A father killed his five kids and himself. Good grief.

We have got to get this violence under control.

  6. Wow, so they're pissed that Obama shows too much deference to the Saudi king for bowing while they're also pissed at Michelle for not showing enough deference by actually touching the Queen of England. I really can't keep up with these fools.

And Anonymous3, I'm no big fan of Saudi Arabia either, but shouldn't your outrage be pointed at the fact that Afghanistan, our supposed allies and vacuum of American aid money just legalized marital rape?!!!

It is because of arrogant attitudes like Michelle Malkin that Americans have been disliked around the world. We have disrespected the international community far too much and far too long.

Obama displayed American grace and greatness by showing customary good-will and respect toward the King. I am sure the King and all Arabs appreciated it. They are human and deserve respect, also. Remember, Obama is at the G-20 to bring everybody together to solve world problems. He is not there to piss on anybody.

Of Course, it doesn't surprise me that some ignorant Americans with low self-esteem will see his bow as something "beneath" an American President to do.... It is to be expected from small-minded people like Michelle because they are egotistical arrogant asses.

Obama is a wise President with a lot of class, and I am proud of what he has done so far at the G-20.

Aren't they all Masons? You will find a lot of the world leaders are Masons. There is nothing wrong with the bow.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bowing doesn't represent submission, necessarily. More frequently it represents respect. Respecting the heads of foreign countries is a good thing. It is customary to bow to monarchs, so Obama followed custom and showed respect. I don't really see how that can be bad... You can respect people even if you disagree with them, that's completely legitimate. I agree, people are making a big deal over a minor issue just to make an issue. The fact that anyone's even mentioned this shows that they are not easily able to find fault with legitimate concerns... it's like during the election with the whole flag pin debate. When you can't say "Your policies are moronic and stupid" like we could to Bush, you have to say things like "You bowed to a Saudi King."

    ReplyDelete
  26. If Obama bowed out of respect (and oil), so what? It was a gesture of goodwill and nothing more.

Unlike the Motherfucker from Midland, who held the hand of the Saudi prince and led him on a romantic tour of the White House Rose garden but not before he kissed him on his mouth and then reached up under his toga and gave the royal member a few strokes.

Please State government - we need for you to pass a law that will take guns out of the hands of our young men so that we can keep them from killing themselves.

In the spirit of Ralm Emanuel - "Never let a crisis go to waste" our hero Filled Negro knows that if he can make use of the recent mass killings to convince White folks that it is in their best interests to add limits to our 2nd Amendment Rights. In doing so, per your perversion - you believe that fewer guns means fewer dead Blacks.

that these governments who would suppress you as a female you and others seek to make peace with them, stroking them with "sugar" rather than bothering them about their oppressive treatment of people who you purport to care about.

    You say "good will"?
What makes you believe that the Europeans had the proper disposition during the "War On Terrorism"? Spain had a terroristic attack that shaped the outcome of the election. They chose to pull off to the side of the fight. Lesson Learned: Do a terrorist act in Spain and the voters will respond. Now with a 14% unemployment rate and mass riots they are fearing mass violence on the street. Its a good thing that they have tax payer paid health care to stitch everyone up.
You and yours LOST this past election.
Jody - various elections have been WON on election night only to have the district LOSE in the long run. Do you figure that the cities of Philadelphia ($1 billion budget shortfall over the next 5 years), Baltimore, Washington DC, Detroit and Cleveland are "winners" as they presently stand DESPITE the absolute domination of the same machine that Obama sits atop of.

I guess "winning and losing" is all a matter of what you are focusing on as an accomplishment.

To many of you "Yes We Can" meant win an election rather than actually receive the benefits that you had "HOPE" for. The sad part is that the government and its ability to redistribute resources that YOU did not generate plays such a central part in your "win". "Yes We Can" has been fulfilled back in November 2008 just like "Mission Accomplished"

From a protocol standpoint, the American Flag does not dip to a foreign leader, and the American President doesn't bow.

From a practical standpoint, President Obama is stuck with 8 years of Bushit screwups to try and recover from.

This President is not only a leader, but a Diplomat, and as Grandma BT used to say - "You catch a lot more flies with honey...

    Than vinegar."

Giving respect - earns respect. There isn't ANY question about the power equation here...

But after 8 years of Bushit alienation - America needs friends.

The brouhaha over Obama's purported faux pas makes about as much sense, and has even less importance than the inflated hysteria over whether the FLOTUS' dress was prettier than the one worn by French First Lady, Carla Bruni's.

I'll go out on a limb with a small predication here. President Obama's next stop is Turkey, a moslem country. I think the Turkish people are going to cheer him like a rock star.

Rethugly conservatives here in Virginia have focused on making sure gay people can't get married in the Old Dominion, assuring the citizen's right to confront God in church armed, and denying the local governments in the most populous portion of the State the right to raise taxes for highway improvement, road construction and a subway system.

The last time the State had a Rethugly Governor, the state ran a $3 billion deficit after cutting taxes. The first deficit the state had run since Governor Doug Wilder had cleaned up the state finances in the 90's, in a state whose "pay as you go" policy as a methodology to control government spending had meant no deficits for nearly 100 years before the Raygun economic disaster.

The Rethuglys just canned their Party Chair of 10 months, an uber-conservative whose choice to campaign on social issues instead of the economy and economic development resulted in massive losses for the Rethuglys last election -

The Porch Simian shines - BET Uncut - can you tell me that various cities in Virginia - such as Richmond are thriving as the progressives dominate their legislative priorities?

As I have explained to you before - oh stupid one - the State of Virginia has done very well under progressive leadership.

The City of Richmond has a number of things to crow about.

One - those doggone "liberals" have built Virginia Commonwealth University, a city school located between the Historic Fan district and a poor area, into what is now the largest University System in Virginia, with 17% of the total enrolled students being black, and something on the order of 35% of the full time students at the main campus in Richmond being black. The University also hosts the largest medical college in Virginia, formerly the MCV.

Shockoe Bottom - once a ramshackle desert of abandoned warehouses and tenements, which flooded every year as the James River's banks swelled with the spring rains, Shockhoe has become a destination with tony shops, loft condos and apartments, and nightlife. The flooding was stopped by the James River Flood wall project.

    Today:

    http://www.venturerichmond.com/downtown/projects-sbottom.html

Since former Governor Wilder took the reins as Mayor, as the first Mayor actually elected by the citizens of Richmond in 60 years - he fully funded community policing finally filling all the vacancies in the City Police force, crime in the city dropped 37% - to it's lowest level since the 50's.

Prior to Wilder's election in 2005 Richmond was known as “murder capital USA”—with a per capita murder rate which placed it in the top five most dangerous cities in the United States. By 2007, the City of Richmond’s clearance rate – or arrest rate – stood at 82 percent. To put this in its proper context, our 82 clearance is far greater than the nationwide clearance rate of only 61 percent. For comparison, the City of Boston’s clearance rate just a year ago was only 14 percent.

The city attracted two major corporations -

    (1) Philip Morris USA, which built a $350 million research center at the Virginia BioTechnology Park, a research center that represents the largest private business investment in the City’s history, bringing 500 high-paying jobs along with it, and

    (2) Paper manufacturer MeadWestvaco, a Fortune 300 company, has chosen to build its corporate headquarters in Downtown – representing a $100-million enterprise and up to another 1,000 jobs.

In terms of small business -

Through the City’s Department of Economic Development, under Wilder - the City provided 390 CARE incentives to businesses that have invested approximately $4 million in the City, and another 304 Enterprise Zone incentives were provided to businesses that have invested more than $25 million in the City between 2005 and 2007.

I can discuss the other major areas, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Norfolk and Newport News/Hampton if you'd like...

But you aren't going to like it any better sitting up on that porch and gyrating for Massa "'bout dem bad black folks".

Now... as you were shining for Massa?

So hear is the question black people: how will we survive and prosper in a nation run by latinos? We need to be positioning ourselves right now! Why concentrate on whites all the time when they already have one foot in the grave? I don't want to see white supremacy replaced by latino or Asian supremacy.

If I keep pouring enough cream in the coffee, pretty soon the entire flavor of the coffee is changed; the very nature of the coffee is changed. If enough cream is poured in, eventually you don't even know that I had coffee in this cup. This is what happened with the March on Washington. The whites didn't integrate it; they infiltrated it. Whites joined it; they engulfed it; they became so much a part of it, it lost its original flavor. It ceased to be a black march; it ceased to be militant; it ceased to be angry; it ceased to be impatient. In fact, it ceased to be a march."

I feel ya! Now, I think I'd better do the same and ask for forgiveness.

"Weren't all the presidents since Nixon (excluding the Peanut Man) bowing and scraping in one way or another to the Saudiis?
    The Bushes literally?"

Not only that they sold out America to them. They forget about how Bush was trying to do that little business deal with Dubai and our ports.

"When I heard one of Obama's speeches last week where he addressed the audience in French and German and they burst into applause, I was so proud I almost cried. What he did was so simple yet so full of meaning."

I did too. It is a shame that other countries understand and appreciated our President more than some of our own Americans that are out to destroy him for no good reason other than the color of his skin and an extreme ideology.

"Oh no! Mr. O uses a teleprompter? As opposed to Bush, who couldn't string a noun and verb together to make a complete sentence?"

I had to laugh about that one because it brought back to remembrance some of the stuff Bush used to say such, "Is our kids learning?" or the remark about the gynecologist.

I've observed your post over a period of time and they've given me delight because they have a sense of balance, fairness, and wisdom in them.

"The less whites, the better. I'm for getting rid of both LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVE whites. Fortunately immigration will wipe them out by 2050. So hear is the question black people: how will we survive and prosper in a nation run by latinos? We need to be positioning ourselves right now! Why concentrate on whites all the time when they already have one foot in the grave? I don't want to see white supremacy replaced by latino or Asian supremacy."

The idea is to get rid of racism, period. That sick cancerous disease must be eradicated. We don't want to trade in white racism for black racism or brown racism; we don't want reverse discrimination....We don't want to become the very thing we are trying to get rid of. Again, we want to end racism, period...Get it? In case you haven't noticed, Blacks and Whites need each other to end racism.

Justice and fairness has no color but the 'deliverers' of moral justice and ethics can be any color or race. It might sound naive or idealistic but America must strive toward that goal.

"Doing the right thing" transcends race.

Hallelujah! What they don't seem to get is all races on this universe need each other and their destiny is intertwined.

"We're all members of the same body." I wish I could explain that to some of these folks, but I don't want to scare people with the depthness of that revelation.

  51. Americans, have you ever wondered why there are so many in the world that hate you? (Not me, but many)

It's like this. You know that attitude that says "Americans should never bow to anyone, because in effect we are superior to everyone else"?

    That's why.

Eurasian - Folks hate on Americans for no better reason than...

They need somebody to hate on.

The world press has just spent a whole bunch of time, and cut down a whole rain forest in trees to make paper dissecting every move and nod of President Obama and FLOTUS Michelle, down to whether the threads holding the material in her sweaters are an exact match to her shoes...

Listen to a little Jill Scott...

No, Obama is not supposed to bow to other world leaders... but have people forgotten what that means???

Seriously, the President is not supposed to act subordinate, but as a peer.

This means no kowtowing to the Japanese emperor -- that's clearly submissive behavior.

In ALL societies, there's some damn way for two social equals to show respect. In places where bowing is the preferred greeting, it's generally by both people bowing "to the exact same extent"

Seriously, people, this is no big deal -- trust our President to know the damn protocol! (or to have a resident protocol droid to tell him what to do)

  55. After all the underhanded and dirty mess the Bush and Cheney crew stirred up while in office for 8 years, it's a wonder that that all Americans don't need to bow and even that might not be a bad idea. I'm just sayimg.

Other countries are leary of us right now and our relationship with them right now is very fragile. It is as fragile as delicate China dishes. President Obama is working on trying heal and mend our relationship. America is going to have to gain that trust and respect back and so he has to walk light and eat humble pie. Its sad that he has to be the one to do it since he wasn't the one that destroyed the relationships in the first place. It takes a real man to be humble.

He loves our country and wants our country to regain the respect that we once had back and most of all he wants to see peace and prosperity for our nation.

Bush and Cheney opened up a can of worms with their policies, dictorial attitudes, bullying, refusal to compromise, and outright blatant disrespect of leaders of other countries. They were all brawn and no brains and treated other leaders like they were kids instead of men.

The media is really sickening these days when all they have to contribute to the news is gossip and dissecting what the First Lady is wearing or the Queen and her hugging each other. The newspapers have already lost a lot of business, if the media keeps on the same track their on now, they'll be losing views as well, and blogs and free lance online journalist that are polluted will become the news that people turn to.

    Yes. That one.

The one Obama plans to bring to an end.

The one that Bush and his cronies started with the false premises that Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11and there were weapons of mass destruction to be found in Iraq.

  60. Everybody knows the deal with the Bush families special friendship the Saudi Royals, so it was no shock to see the president allowing the King to grab him by the hand and pull him around like a child. Hell, the Saudi families have been doing this to the US collectively ever since they realized they held the black gold.

As pathetic as GW's display was (which was acknowledged by many in the press), it is not only worse, but improper for a standing president to kneel to a king. Unless he is admitting the he is one of the king's subjects, you don't kneel before him, regardless of assumed protocol.

Perhaps the body language of both presidents acknowledged our true status with the Saudis that was previously on the down low.

  61. It is mind blowing that every one in this entire thread missed the point of the reason American presidents have never bowed to kings (Bush was wrong to cozy up to the king as well, but the college professor Obama goes down in history as the first to actually bow)
The answer is in the words of the Declaration of Independance. Not the well known paragraphs, but the ones which begin with " He has..." Has "Field" ever read it? Doubt it. Any one? Any one remember where we as a country came from? I didn't think so. And that is precisely why we are finished.
