Tonight I want to talk about the "swine flu". The name given to the potentially deadly flu strain which originated south of our border. A name that shouldn't be synonymous with the source of the virus but with the racist and xenophobic pigs using it to spread fear and prejudice. To wingnut talk show hosts and blogs this latest virus is like a gift from heaven. Nothing would please them more than to see a mass outbreak of this virus in these divided states with deadly consequences. Oh field, how can you say that? How can you suggest that some people in A-murder-ca would wish death on fellow A-murder-cans to score political points? Well....
"As the story of the H1N1 virus emerged, it was initially referred to as the 'swine flu,' but the Obama administration called for moving away from that language because it was contributing to baseless fears that the virus had to do with pork consumption. This did not sit well with CNN's Lou Dobbs, who referred to people using the H1N1 terminology as 'idiots' and claiming 'they are out of their cotton pickin' minds.' Such people include several of Dobbs' colleagues at CNN, including the network's chief medical correspondent.
In response to the administration's request for a name change, radio host Neil Boortz suggested calling the virus the "fajita flu." But that was one of Boortz's more tepid comments about the virus. Boortz stirred up fears that the virus was some sort of "bioterrorist" plot, asking, 'What better way to sneak a virus into this country than to give it to Mexicans?' Similarly, radio host Michael Savage claimed, 'There is certainly the possibility that our dear friends in the Middle East cooked this up in a laboratory somewhere in a cave and brought it to Mexico knowing that our incompetent government would not protect us from this epidemic because of our open-border policies.' After all, Savage claimed, the terrorists might have known that Mexicans 'are the perfect mules for bringing this virus into America.'
It's hard to determine which came first -- the intolerance or the paranoia.
Indeed, they make conservative leader Rush Limbaugh's suggestions of a conspiracy on the part of the Obama administration seem just slightly less delusional. Limbaugh claimed: 'All of this is by design. It's designed to get people to respond to government orders. ... It is designed to expand the role and power of government and schools, and the media just falls right in line with it.'"
That was from Media Matters, and believe me, there is lots more where that came from. These folks are "coo coo for Co Co Puffs", and they are getting worse every day.
The good news is that those of us who can actually think for ourselves are seeing the demagoguery of fear for what it is and we are writing about it. The bad news is that this climate of fear has affected businesses, stigmatized certain groups of people, and might have possible caused lady justice to take a peek from under her blindfold.
The shit is sad and it is Un-American. Hell it's Un-human. But this is what I have come to expect from these people who feel that their country is slipping away and their traditional way of life is going right along with it.
'"Often, a disease outbreak is an excuse to vent pre-existing prejudices. 'It’s fear of people we do not know or who look different,' said Dr. Howard Markel, a medical historian at the University of Michigan and author of 'When Germs Travel: Six Major Epidemics That Have Invaded America Since 1900 and the Fears They Have Unleashed.' 'You take the fear of the unknown that already exists and then combine that with a real or perceived threat that is contagious disease and it’s explosive.”'
Lou Dobbs is a big fat doofus.
ReplyDeleteSHIT FIELD, is there anything that doesnt send you into an indignant racialist froth?
ReplyDeleteI swear, you could walk into any building in N. America and come out screaming racism.
You yell it so much, your not credible anymore. Youre a one-trick pony and the trick has become tiresome and stale.
Get a clue, an enema and then a life. In that order.
You sir, are a bore!
For all the racist huff and puff, I find it quite interesting that the virus actually came into the states by way of privileged tourists and was probably incubated in Mexico by an American pig farm.
ReplyDeleteIf people weren't so racist, they realize this flu outbreak as well as the financial collapse is due to the overwhelming greed our "freedom" allows, especially as it pertains to white men and businesses.

If the trick is so "tiresome and stale, why do you try to use it so much? Oh well,I am glad the folks from the RNC read my blog.
So let me get this straight: I need a life, but you just just spent at least five minutes of yours commenting on my blog. *eyes rolling and middle finger out*
Michelle Bachmann and others on the right blame Muslims and Obama for the flu. You can't make this stuff up.
ReplyDeleteOT, did you see film of that RNC conference where a "brother" stood up and and ask what to do ? I wonder how much he got paid ?
Kid, are you talking about that guy in Texas?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sticking up for me, Field. At first, I was livid and blogged about it as part of my May Day post. Then I got to thinking, I have a trump card. If one of these bigots gives me crap, all I have to do is clear my throat without covering my mouth. :)

You sir, are a bore! So, Anonymous, what is your take on all this? Are you in agreement that this outbreak is the result of terrorists cooking up a batch of flu virus and infecting Mexicans who in turn come to the USA?
Or are you on board with Rush Limbaugh who contends that the Obama administration is somehow behind this (as if it doesn't have enough to do in trying to set straight this economy that Bush and Co. F*'ed up)?
This is what your friends on the right contend.
Please share.

Changing the name was NOT and Obama admin idea. That idea came down from the folks at the CDC and WHO.
Besides, when I studied this virus in school not long ago, it was simply H1NI NOT swine anything.
Still I believe black folks, buppies in particular, need to worry more about HIV and cheating/DL Black men.

It's amazing that Rush says this stuff with a str8 face since this statement makes me think of the Bush admin more than anything else.
There is a long and sordid history of equating people from Mexico with disease. It started because the U.S. had to justify seizing so much Mexican territory in the war in 1848, displacing the Mexicans who lived in those territories, and seizing their property. It was used cynically by newspapers and politicians every time labor, including Mexicans, challenged exploitation in the name of profit. It continues to be used to stir up fear and division because racism and xenophobia work really well to divide people who should really be united by their common abuse at the hands of predatory capitalism. The cure for ignorance and fear is education and organizing. The dregs of our settler colonialist society will never let go of their ideological viruses that infect us, their plagues of lies, but there are more of us and history is on our side.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, we can get all riled up about H1N1 or pig flu or NAFTA flu or whatever the hell we want to call it, but the "regular" flu kills thousands more, and the plagues of bigotry, sexism, and hatred of difference kill, maim, distort and pollute. To fight contagion, we need to wash our minds free of the pollution of bigotry, quarantine those who spread the diseases of hatred by shunning them, and organize to treat the illness and help its victims survive and recover.
OK, end of Sunday morning sermon.
BORING AND PREDICTABLE! (predictable is ALWAYS boring)
ReplyDeleteLets see, the name of a virus (swine) somehow is a blatant racist code word for "mexicans". A line that only could be drawn by left wingnut bloggers. BO-RING
I post that this is "boring" (which it is) and I have been labeled an RNC operative, a white extremist or a po' negro PAID to comment on a blog. PREDICTABLE!
With all the problems in our community, this blogger focuses on fools like Limbaugh and Dobbs. I swear black folk love to whine and fuss about every little thing some white folk say. We seem to get comfort from it. Sure, we could talk about the 70% single parents, but than aint no fun. No white guy in a suit to point at and scream. We could talk about the 50% and higher dropout rate, but we might have to blame black folk for that. We could talk about our kids killing each other at horrifying rates, but since the one with a gun is black, we cant do that. We could talk about AIDS at rates in many black cities greater that Uganda, well, no, wed have to take black folk to task and we all know we do nothing wrong unless the white puppet masters actually pull the strings.
We could talk about crime in our neighborhoods, but since blacks commit the crimes..no thanks. We could talk about drugs in our neighborhoods but since blacks sell and consume these drugs...thanks again, no. We could talk about the values we have, or dont have. Sorry, our fault, not interested in exploring that.
I KNOW, lets talk about the problems of our brothers in Africa...wait, tried that, lets move on. Well just flame whitey when he tries to help.
OH NO, Mr, Field Negro could do the unpredictable and call black folk out on our behavior, choices and values. Not likely. Lets just find some extremist whose words we can parse and therefore feel good about our position in society because after all, it aint our fault, the guy in the suit says bad things.
PREDICTABLE AND BORING!
One asked "What would I do"? I would address ALL those above issues and I dont give a shit what white folks do or dont do, think or dont think. Whites cant solve our problems, plenty of white folk workin damn hard trying to solve their own problems. Dont care what Bachmann says or what Limbaugh says it gives me neither comfort nor anger.
I would do the unpredictable and call out our own folk for their choices. Maybe Limbaugh wouldnt have shit to say if we had 90% graduation, 90% two parent homes, safe neighborhoods and we valued hard work and honesty. Think about that!
You leave Joe Biden out of this.
ReplyDeleteszpork

These issues are concerns and certainly have been addressed. In some cases, right here on this very blog.

1) 2 Black parent home - Check
2) College education - Check times 6 in my home, LOL!!
3) No criminal record - Check
4) Volunteer in BLACK community - Check
5) Accomplished, well manered children - Check times 3
And for all that, I'm a "token" of the white man.
So while I don't necessarly agree with everthing you said, I certainly agree that Black folks (born in American because I don't see this as much among other Blacks) have the market on the "crabs in the bucket" mentality.
anon
ReplyDeleteThe name of the virus (swine) isn't what we're talking about. The push to call it the Mexican flu and blame illegal immigration is what we're talking about.
And if I may, don't wanna step on your toes Field, but anon, it's not like you can start your own blog and talk about those issues. But then, you'd have to research and not just comment and you'd probably find that with the exception of 70% single parenthood, everything else is a direct consequense of racism.
""these and other issues have--time and again--been the focus of conversations and concerns in the black community?""
ReplyDeleteOH, I thought crime, single parents, HIV, education, murder and malaise was still a problem in our hoods. But maybe I was wrong....my mistake.
I didnt know we already came up with solutions and implemented them. Thanks Sharon.
LETS GET LOU!
""you'd probably find that with the exception of 70% single parenthood, everything else is a direct consequense of racism.""
ReplyDeleteAnd if you would do a little research you would find that everything else is a direct result of 70% single parenthood.
Boys look to the street to fill the void a father leaves. Girls turn to promiscuity to fill the same hole.
You sir, are the problem. Kids dont kill kids because of perceived racism. Kids dont drop their schoolwork because of racism. They look to "racism" as an excuse to take the easy road.
*can't*
ReplyDeleteFLY; There is NOTHING I said that is directly or even indirectly applicable to you. In fact, you are the example that I use to show the "sit and whine" strategy of group fulfillment is a losing plan.
ReplyDeleteThere is a large group of us fully invested in convincing our people they just cant make it in a "white racist" world. That we need the man in a shiny suit and a bullhorn to help us po' oppressed negroes. They parse the words of fringe whites to convince us we are where we are because of them. In fact we are where we are because of US. and only we can change our direction.
I didnt go to college because of Lou Dobbs and I didnt dropout because of Rush Limbaugh. Those who did deserve their fate.
No, actually -
ReplyDeleteOur children study as much as anyone else. But, across the nation, black children are placed in academic tracking levels that are below the level their standardized test scores indicate they should be on. Black children face more and harsher school discipline than white children even though they all misbehave at the same rate.
Do I really need to detail racial profiling? Then, once taken in, black suspects who actually did so something are more likely to be released back into the community where they inevitably are re-arrested whereas white suspects are kept in jail. There's been tracking on this in the last several years, and early evidence is that cops care less about what happens in the community once a black suspect is released.
Then, of course, you got that fact that black people are more likely to be arrested, once arrested more likely to be charged, once charged, more likely to accept some crappy plea deal on the advice of some overworked public defendent. But, if they do go to trial, more likely to be found guilty and more likely to face harsher sentencing. Plus, it's not unusual for a white guy to get rehab and probation where a black guy for the same crime gets time in jail.
I don't think I really have to explain employment and income discrimination. But, since we're talking, when it comes to low-wage work, a white guy with a criminal record has a better chance of getting a job than a black guy without a criminal record. White men and women on average make more than black men and women. Even holding for the equal experience and education, white men make more than black men. Not to mention black people being passed over for jobs and promotions. And also, a white guy who's dropped out of school is more likely to find a job than a black guy with a college degree.
You add all that up and it's no wonder our children mentally check out of school. And considering "American mascuclinity" means being able to provide financially for your family, among other things, it's little wonder black men are hesitant to wed. Though, I agree, 70% is ridiculous. Good thing, then, that black fathers who aren't in the home spend more time with their children then any other group of fathers not living in the home.
Lastly, I'm a "ma'am," not a "sir." Check on the silohuette. And as far as being part of the problem, and you'd like this Fly, I attended UNC on an academic scholarship and gradated cum laude. Me a part of the problem? Tell that to the girl who decided to go to college after hearing me speak at a church event geared at encouraging our youth to stay in school and out of trouble. Of course, you have to accept that fact that within the community, we do talk about the importance of education and marriage and staying out of crime.
Oh, and about the right-wing nut job push to rename swine flu the Mexican flu . . .?
And Fly, not to knock your personal experience, but I'm pretty sure I've read research and studies that everyone "crabs" the same.
The "Air Yeezy"s look ugly as fuck.

ReplyDeleteAnd as far as being part of the problem, and you'd like this Fly, I attended UNC on an academic scholarship and gradated cum laude."
I think it's great you have a degree, but personally I'm not impressed with that for two reasons. First my memory serves me pretty well and your previoucomments directed toward me haven't been all that "college educated" looking. Second, I have 2degrees from the UNC system, one from the campus at Charlotte, and one from Chapel Hill, BOTH in Chemistry.
Honestly, I would be far more impressed if you had more of an open mind to political views that don't line up with yours. And
as for your mentoring in the Black community, that's what you're SUPPOSED to do, so NO brownie points for that one.
""Our children study as much as anyone else""
ReplyDeleteWOW, a whiff out of the gate. Go to a public high school in Detroit city, Gary, Memphis, DC. And tell me that. If we study as much as everybody else and we score worse that everybody else, we must be dumber that everybody else. Im not going to accept that. The fact is our young people dont value education. We value physicality above mentality. We value music above mathematics.
You make the fatal assumption that we do everything, (study, misbehave) at the same rate as all others. We do not. We come from 70% single parent homes. Our parents arent educated at the same level as "everyone else" our neighborhoods arent the same as "everybody elses" We werent brought up the same as "everybody else" why would you assume we behave just like "everybody else". We do not. Our all-black schools (on average) are far below "everybody elses" even our Historically black colleges are far below "everybody elses". You make far too many assumptions.
As far as "racial profiling" when a call comes across the police band and the subjects are young black males (as they inevitablely are) why would you think the cops would pull over old korean women?? I know cops who work in my city and the VAST majority of suspects are "young black males" sorry thats the case, but thats the case. You say blacks are released more often..WHAT???..you would be whining if they were kept in jail more often, now you whine because they are released?? Earth to skate...come in skate...
White people have more education on average across the board. Why is it surprising that they get more jobs even the ex-felons. Its a function of education not race. BTW; ex-felons didnt need to commit crimes, whatever their fate lies on them.
You are indeed part of the problem because you look for excuses for blacks to fail rather than looking for reasons to succeed. You countenance failure because you look for excuses. Fly and myself could have heard your screed and decided we just cant make it because of mean old whitey and that would have been fine with you. Well it isnt fine for me, my relatives, my children and any raggedy old negro with his hand out whining about "the man".
You madam (saw the profile, sorry for the mistake) are an excuse-maker. If you look hard enough, you will always find one for failure. To those who have succeeded however, your excuses run thin indeed.
The irony is that eating pork, in this economic context is dangerous, but not for the reason people think. Eating pork encourages factory farming, which is incrediblyt dangerous, given how close genetically humans and pigs are.
ReplyDeleteNow free speech is un-American??
ReplyDelete"The good news is that those of us who can actually think for ourselves"
Black folks vote 90% Democrat.Only 10% of you can for yourself. Are you in the 10% group??
"Indeed, they make conservative leader Rush Limbaugh's suggestions of a conspiracy on the part of the Obama administration seem just slightly less delusional. Limbaugh claimed: 'All of this is by design. It's designed to get people to respond to government orders. "
Actually that makes you sound delusional. If you don't think administrations and the media uses fear in order to change your view points or make you believe things that they want you to believe than you are wrong.
Rush also went after the media for the way they covered bird flu, sars, and west nile.So you also should talk about Rush's Bush conspiracy to.
Since this post talks about fear and paranoia i think i should tell every black person this--
Drinking snapple won't make black men sterile.
Black folks are masters of intolerance and paranoia.Lets look at some examples--
Snapple was made to make black men sterile
Opps i should have deleted the last sentence .My bad!
ReplyDeleteFly - None of my comments to you were "uneducated." That's just how you took it cause you were, at the least, expecting a fight. That's not my fault. I wasn't trying to gain your approval. Just making a point that I'm just as educated and see things differently. I even had a professor, several in fact, acknowledge what I'm saying. Without telling too much of my personal info here, cause it's available other places, you don't know why I don't have more degrees, so there's really no need to comment on that.
ReplyDeletePlus, I've asked you on at least 2 occassions to explain the terms in which you see yourself as a conservative. You haven't responded. Not that you have to prove anything to me, I asked out of curiousity and you never responded. That, too, is not my fault. Which is all to say, really Fly, you and anon ain't the only black folk doing big things or serving in the community. Get over yourself.
Let me add that I know from your previous comments that when you have no other recourse, you resort to accusing people of being jealous of how "attractive" you are. So, before you accuse me of being jealous, I'm not. And even if I were, we're not in the same dating group.
And as for anons views, if those are the ones you say I'm not open to, then I'll agree. I'm opinion to differing political opinions, but there're no differing facts.
@anon - No, no, no. I'm not making assumptions. It seems you are. I'm telling you the results of research and study, stats and findings. Our children study as much as anyone else. They're as well/mis-behaved as anyone else. I don't know about kids in Detroit. But why should all black children, or I for that matter, answer for the kids in Detroit. And have you seen inner-city schools? They suck. They're crumbling. Schools in East St. Loius, Il used to have, if they hopefully no longer do, open sewage. Forget Detroit, have you seen the schools black children attend in South Carolina? And they have a governor who wants to reject stimulus funds for school constrution.
And racial profiling. I'm talking about DWBs and WWBs, etc. And you're right. I would be upset if they held black folks longer for no reason. The point I was making about black folks being released is that the ones being released aren't released because they don't pose a threat. They're released despite posing a threat. Get the guilty. Leave the innocent alone.
If you hold for socio-econ, crime is the same across races and ethnicities. The problem in the black community is our disproportionate rate of poverty, which goes back to slavery, neo-slavery, and the racist manner of distributing GI Bill school and home loans. Why should the rest of us have to answer for the black ignorant/poor? White people don't answer for the white ignorant/poor. They call them white trash.
And I repeat, holding for education and experience, white men make more than black men. And that's because on average, black men have less education?
And a question, is there a difference between an ex-felon and someone with a criminal record? And how does that account for the employment disparity between white men with criminal records and black men without criminal records.
Understand the difference between making excuses and responding to reality. See, when I talk to a group of black kids, I tell them what's up. I tell they're just as smart, just as bright, and just as deserving. But attention from mainstream America is given to our problems only as a matter of absolving the country of racism. How many mass school shootings have we had by white boys? And nobody's wondering if anything's wrong with the white community. All those girls got pregnant, on purpose, in Mass, and I don't recall any discussion of what's wrong with the white community.
Actually read the research, the studies, the facts. Black folks are putting up the same numbers, and where there's a disparity, racism is the cause. Period. Even your own racism. Instead of being glad that black children are as studious and well-behaved, you want answers about the ones who aren't. Instead of thinking that maybe white kids aren't studying as much as we think and aren't as well behaved as we think, you want answers about misbehaving black kids. Instead of thinking that maybe black folks, on individual basis, have reasoned that liberal policies are better for the country than conservative policies, you accuse the 90% of group think, not being able to think for themselves and the other 10% of individually thinking? That's one reason 90% of don't don't vote Republican - it's obvious you/they don't give us credit for being thinking, reasoning individuals. And the funny thing about that is that 90% of the white South would be voting Democrat if it weren't for their own racism.
By the way, two researched and verified reasons for black students making lower scores on standardized tests - 1) stereotype anxiety; 2) cultural bias. Do you know how the SATs work? Every year, they field test new questions for future SATs. But, the new questions have to match the student-success rates of previous questions. So the questions that black children score well on are thrown out.
Am I saying we can't succeed inspite of? No. We've been succeeding inspite of since we got here. I'm saying end the racism. And true, the frindge expresses the worst of it. They express the worst of it and yet, Rush and Dobbs both have well paying jobs. That's evidence of racism, however graded, in the mainstream society.
And are you really defending Rush Limbaugh? Rush Limbaugh? Really? Wow.

ReplyDeleteLet me add that I know from your previous comments that when you have no other recourse, you resort to accusing people of being jealous of how "attractive" you are. So, before you accuse me of being jealous, I'm not. And even if I were, we're not in the same dating group."
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
Just as I suspected, Fly. Doing what you can to avoid outlining your political views. Cause it's not like I mischaracterized your previous comments. Even if it's possible to recruit someone to your side, you just won't explain, for lack of a better word, your position. If you can convince me that conservatism is good for me, the black community, and/or the nation, I'm all ears.
ReplyDeleteOH skate. Im beginning to think you arent nearly as educated as you think you are. You assume based only on your warped view of the world. You bring up ONE mass school shooting by white kids (15 yrs ago if I remember). You bring up one example of the white pregnant girls in New England. BOTH were covered by the TV news. You failed to recognize the THOUSANDS of young black males killed LAST YEAR AND THIS by other black males, dont need to go back 15 yrs there. You failed to mention the 325 high school senior girls in an all-black Alabama high school class that had ALL at least one illigitimate child. You fail to mention the 72% illigitimacy rate we have THIS YEAR! You bring up 2 TV examples as proof the white race is as bad as us and ignore thousands of real-life black ones. Not educated at all, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteYou say there are studies after studies that "prove" our kids study as much as them. You cite none. "Plenty of studies" saying we misbehave as much as others. You cite none. PREDICTABLE. Any "study" that says black kids study as much as others is ridiculous. You cant in anyway accurately chart that. Our kids score lower that others. Achieve lower than others, its not illogical to assume they dont work as hard as others unless you say they are dumber than others. We can do better and you know it. You say when there is disparity, racism is the cause, period. An assumption based only on your opinion.
You say "keep the guilty and release the innocent" if you have a foolproof way to accomplish that, contact any police jurisdiction in America, or for that matter, the world. Im sure they will be interested. If youve got that nut cracked, youre the first.
As far as whites answering for their poor and extreme. I believe Rush and Lou and the 15 KKK members are held up constantly as examples of how "whites" think. I believe the babbling Minnesota congresswoman has been parsed ad nauseum to explain white attitudes. Heck, even three white kids in Columbine have been used as proof of "white mass murder tendencies" Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
Dont get me started on "stereotype anxiety" laughable and silly. Study for a test and you'll do well. Dont and look for an excuse. Like I said. If you look hard enough for a reason for failure, you will find it. If you accept no excuse you will usually get success.
Rush indeed has a good paying job. So does Rev Al.
anon - You're not citing an research or studies either. You're just citing what you heard in the news. And there've been a few school shootings by white boys. Lots of pregnant white girls. When white men are murdered, who do you think killed them? I repeat, once you hold for socio-econ, crime rates are the same across races and ethnicities. Black crime is exaggerated because of our disproportionate rate of poverty - and our disproportionate rate of poverty stems from current and historical racism. Black crime is over-represented in the media. And the reason it's talked about so much is to absolve the country of racism. But what happens in "the 'hood" doesn't excuse employment and income discrimination by those of us who're pushing ahead.
ReplyDeleteAnd again, white people don't answer for Rush and Bachmann. They just call them ignorant white trash and go on about their day. Of course, black people think differently, but society isn't scewed to our perceptions or perspectives.
Now, I could cite the specific studies I'm referring to. But one, it seems odd that you'd rather accept mainstream ideas of black people rather than be glad the mainstream is wrong. And two, it's taken me years to do all the reading I've done. I'm not going to do the work for you. But, if you read through some of Tim Wise's work, he sites the stats he uses. That may be helpful.
Warped? Yeah.
Oh, and anon, you still haven't explained how the desire to call H1N1 the "mexican" flu or how those who're blaming it's outbreak on illegal immigrants isn't racist.

ReplyDeleteGranny standing up, in the amen corner, waving her church lace hankie, shouting...Preach it, baby..Preach it!
Will someone please pass the collection plate. Yes, sir!
no1kstate is a fine, upstanding, educated, refined, classy young lady, a good role model, and an asset to the black community. Granny is bubbling over with joy in the way she carries herself.
Granny handing you a bouquet of roses. I love it when a young black woman such as yourself can carries themselves in a lady-like and respectable manner, is intelligent, does not need to use expletives to converse to get their point across. You shine brighter than a diamond in my book.
I'm glad that you don't sink to a low class level as some who think telling folks what type of panties they wear is classy and bourgeois.
Blaming everything on racism has gotten us what exactly?
ReplyDelete"OH NO, Mr, Field Negro could do the unpredictable and call black folk out on our behavior, choices and values."
ReplyDeleteCheck. Been there done that. In fact, check; check; and check again to all of the examples in your pointless drivel. But I get it, you want to impress us with your ideological inependence and your infinate knowledge of all the problems that affect us poor black folks in A-merry-ca. *yawn*
But the joke is on you. The truth of the matter is that most of the folks who read this blog have heard this song before.-- Different singer, same song---But it won't be a hit because us black folks are pretty good at spotting a fraud when we see one.
So what have you been doing for YOUR community? What type of work have YOU been putting in with your time and with that brilliant mind of yours? Please tell us, because we would like to put your plans into action and solve all of our problems.
It's easy for you to post on a blog and try to insult someone's academic accomplishments (like you seem to be trying to do with
no1kstate)that's what you folks do. It's much harder to come up with a coherent workable plan or policy that would help the people you seem to enjoy trying (and note I wrote trying) to talk down to.
"Since this post talks about fear and paranoia i think i should tell every black person this--
Drinking snapple won't make black men sterile."
That was just one of your lame attempts to talk down us poor black folks. Thanks for the heads up on the Snapple. We never knew that. But can you tell me something else? Does listening to Rush and watching FOX News make all black people hate themselves?
Wow! All this panic/arguing for a strain of flu. I could see it if we're remaking "Dawn of the Dead" but SMH!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, you got farmers fighting for their pork livestock overseas and quarantines galore for folks who probably just have common colds. Anyone remember "mad cow disease" and the still-advertise "bird flu"? Y2K all over again...run for your lives. ROFL!!!
Your reading comprehension apparently needs some work.
ReplyDeleteYou accused the black community of ignoring the issues you cited and I contended that these issues are indeed a concern.
In no way did I say that these problems had been addressed and no longer a problem.
That you interpreted what I said to mean this tells me that you really get bent out of shape when a black person has the temerity to criticize any white person, because you really are ticked that Field criticized Lou Dobbs.
Geez.
ch555x:
ReplyDeleteLOL! I hear ya!
They overlook the fact that they can die from the air we breathe with all the pollution from industries that don't practice keeping emissions down and not pollute the air. Check out how many people die from pollution in TX and other places every year. I'd be more worried about the air we breathe and even jello (made from red dye) and how they've resorted to injecting our meat with drugs, the other poisons they add to our food, the water we drink which is full of prescriptions drugs and everything else under the sun than the flu.
Granny typed that in a hurry so it might be, oh well, what the heck.
@Sharon from Wi:
ReplyDelete"That you interpreted what I said to mean this tells me that you really get bent out of shape when a black person has the temerity to criticize any white person, because you really are ticked that Field criticized Lou Dobbs."
Amen! That is, exactly, what the problems is. You hit the nail on the head with this one, "you really get bent out of shape when a black person has the temerity to criticize any white person", because in their mind, it's okay to criticize black folks but heaven forbid if a black person does the same all hell breaks loose. That is a point I've been trying to get across to folks on this blog since I started posting here.
It's okay to talk about racism as long as you don't say anything that whites don't approve of such as criticising a white person. Just criticize black people and everything is peaches and cream, honky dorie, and all good with white folks. It's a form of them not wanting to face up to their part in racism because it's too painful for them. I often wonder if they think about the pain that other races have suffered at their hands.
"cco coo for Co Co Puffs", ROTFLSHIH.
ReplyDeleteno1skate, you dont read very well. I refused to be bullied into stating AGAIN what my views are. Put another way, I dont respond to the "jump ni**a jump from white folks I'm sure as hell not going to respond to someone like you. Besides your debate with anon is proof that I'd be wasting my time anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 5:53:
ReplyDeleteYou're exaggerating somewhat because everything is not blamed on racism. However, trying to play it off as a minor problem or crying wolf or the race card tactic is being used as a defensive crutch by whites who want to ignore that racism exist.
Racism does exist, and blacks have always experienced the worst of it. We'd all like to say that it does not exist and that America is this "Love thy neighbor as thyself" country, but unfortunately it is not that way here in America. Especially, when you have people like Rush, Hannity, Beck, Bachmann, and the rest of their ilk spouting out racist propaganda on a daily basis.
Or innocent blacks being killed in their driveway, while sitting in their own car, minding their own business, and shot because some racist cop claims they thought the car was stolen. Especially, when their police cars are equiped with radios to check for info on stolen cars.
Or a black child cheated out of an education because their not given the same materials and tools to work with, and their schools are in such despair that you can look through a hole, in the exterior that goes straight through the interior as big as a basketball on the second floor. Or teachers whose only reason for being in low income schools is so that they can fulfill their student loan requirement but could care less if black children learn and come with an attitude that black children are incapable of learning in the first place so they don't try to teach them anything.
Or that line of thinking that blacks who have graduated from colleges are somehow inferior in intellect and are nothing more than affirmative actions products that got an education they didn't deserve without working just as hard to get it. In other words, that thinking that blacks were just handed a degree and didn't have to use their intellect to get it.
And
ReplyDeleteas for your mentoring in the Black community, that's what you're SUPPOSED to do, so NO brownie points for that one.I don't think she was looking for brownie points. She was pointing out that she gives back, something that you would (or have) likely accuse middle class blacks of failing to do.
Eating pork. Has nothing to do with swine flu. Unless you keep kosher or hallel, you have nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteSnapple makes black men sterile. I don't which is more pathetic: that black folks would actually say this out loud or that black folks would believe it.
ReplyDeleteI heard a good Oakland fairytale. There is no black on black murders because the cops are doing all the killing.
That would explain the poor police response time. I'm on hold on 911 and McGruff is out whacking black people. Who knew.
In case any idiots missed it, Obama did not change the name from swine to H1N1, the medical folks did.
And people in the enlightened Bay Area are calling it the Mexican flu. That's not racist?
Ah. Just porked out at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Chile relleno, chicken enchilada, beans, rice ,and homemade guacamole. Going home to take a nap. Y'all carry on.
Sharon from WI said...
ReplyDelete"I don't think she was looking for brownie points. She was pointing out that she gives back, something that you would (or have) likely accuse middle class blacks of failing to do."
I could care less about the "class" of black folks volunteering as long as Black folks volunteer. But it's clear to me based on what I've seen living in metro DC that the higher up Black folks get on the educational/finanical scale, the LESS they volunteer in their own communities. Again, MY personal observations, not anyone else's.
That no1skate had to point out what she does for Black folks in a a comment addressed to me, proves that she can not sustain an discussion without falling back on negative assumptions. Thus she assumed I would think she didn't do anything in the community when my thoughts were that she should be doing something.
BTW, Momo:
ReplyDeleteAmen, amen, and amen again to what you posted.
You bring up ONE mass school shooting by white kids (15 yrs ago if I remember).
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? Columbine was one of many school shootings by white kids. In fact, it seemed to be a national trend at one point. (There were a few outside the States, but the majority happened in the USA)
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0777958.html
Oh, and anon, you still haven't explained how the desire to call H1N1 the "mexican" flu or how those who're blaming it's outbreak on illegal immigrants isn't racist.Let's not hold our breaths, but it would be interesting his spin on that one.
ReplyDeleteWest Coast Story:
ReplyDeleteI love Mexican food, now why did you have to go and mention what you ate. Now, I'm craving for some at my favorite Mexican food Restaurant and they are closed today. *sigh*
So what have you been doing for YOUR community? What type of work have YOU been putting in with your time and with that brilliant mind of yours? Please tell us, because we would like to put your plans into action and solve all of our problems.Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh Mr. Field, where oh where do I start. First of all, the snapple thing wasnt me, never heard of that deal.
ReplyDeleteMy point was that with all the acute problems that face us regardless of the cause, does it really matter what Lou Dobbs or Neil Boortz says? Does your cluing us in to the fact they may have said something that we may construe as bias qualify as a newsflash? WOW Limbaugh said something provacative! NICE CALL FIELD. Good work my brother. Keep an eye on Hannity and the nitwit from Minny, Im sure young brothers and sisters in crisis will benefit from your word parsing, I mean, what they say is after all the fulcrum of our existence. >sarcasm< My point was, that to complain about the catering when the cruiseship is sinking makes no sense at all. Most black bloggers type up the same lame blame. "whitey said this" "the white power structure that" "code word whatever". So fucking what. Boring and pointless. Sure you can get the same psuedo-intellectual negroes like skate and granny saying your "amens" but its cheap and unprovocative. We are, as a people, in the same rut weve been for a long time. Were unable to look within ourselves for the causes and solutions to our problems. Whether its skate with her "racism is the cause period" or granny with her "we know what theyre thinking" it offers no solution, only a false sense of comfort in the possibility that "it aint our fault".
You want me to offer MY solutions? I can. It starts with educated articulate caring people like yourself throwing away the excuses of the past and focusing on solutions WE can effect. You know as well as I there is no magic bullet. It starts with owning the cancer and ridding it from our bodies. Racism didnt stop you from succeeding, or me. Why would I lay that burden on my own? Limbaugh and Boortz are nothings. Why would I parse their words like they effect me whatsoever?
Its true we have heard the same song over and over. Apparently we havent got the melody yet. Maybe people like you can put a different beat to it so we might at last hear. It doesent matter who I am or even who you are. Its the concepts that are lasting, not some etherial identification on the web.
We will never get anywhere unless we abandon the old "blame others" way of thinking. We got REAL problems my brother. We got 70% of our kids with no father. Tell me what civilization can survive with those numbers? Dammit, we can do better, MUCH better. We MUST hold our men to task. Men, REAL men, dont blame others. They see the road ahead and get to it.
Truth be told, I expected more from you Field. I know full well you have been straight on our people in the past. Stop complaining about the fruit plate, the ship is sinking.
Hi Granny,
ReplyDeleteYeah, he really must have been so mad that he had his eyes crossed when he read my post.
He b!tches and moans (and if I am not mistaken, this is the same poster who has done this here before) about the alleged apathy blacks have over problems in the black community.
Then he wants to get snotty when one points out that these concerns have been discussed time and again.
So, she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:09Pm
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I do agree with most of what you're saying. IN fact if I didn't knwo any better I'd swear I was posting most of what you've said.
But to be perfectly honest, I think Field does the best job I've seen so far on the net discussing the issues and calling Black people out on their BS, at least most of the time.
It just the idea that most of his female readers wear "Granny" panties that has the frown on my brow, LOL!!!
It just the idea that most of his female readers wear "Granny" panties that has the frown on my brow, LOL!!! Are you usually this obsessed with women's underwear? I think you can get help for that.
ReplyDeleteH1N1 is no more man-made than HIV.
ReplyDelete@Sharon from Wi:
ReplyDelete"Are you usually this obsessed with women's underwear? I think you can get help for that."
Sharon, it does make you wonder don't it. I think most of us on here would rather be equated with wearing something instead of always being equated as someone who likes to show their behind.
Sharon from WI said...
ReplyDelete"Are you usually this obsessed with women's underwear? I think you can get help for that."
I didn't make the first comment in this thread about drawz, OK? I just added my 2 cents.
Nah, you didn't in this thread but you did in another. OK? I just added my 2 cents too. Throwing a rock and hiding your hand won't work on here. Granny is too old a cat to be fooled by a kitten.
ReplyDelete@anon - Blaming everything on racism? Everything? Okay. It's gotten people to do the very least to combat racism. And we'll keep fighting for justice until we get it. And when it comes to our performance vs other races/ethnicities, yes, racism is the cause. Period. Do I keep working with folks to try to improve our standings even further, still? Yes. But the point is comparatively, we're the same as everybody else. We're just as smart. The achievement gap - yep, you guessed it so I don't have to say it.
ReplyDeleteYes, we got issues. But with the exception for the out-of-wedlock birthrate, ours are no better or worse than anyone else's, except that we're up against racism.
And I have a general policy suggestion or two. Give equal funding to schools. Fund, for lack of a better word, welfare enough to help people get off of it. It's dirt low right now. Have policies in place to ensure equal opportunity. All that will help everybody, not just black folks.
And that's in addition to reparations.
Also, it would help if you'd ID yourself so one anonymous wouldn't be responding for another.
Last thing - It's "KState." I don't skate.
@Granny - Thanks. :~}
@Sharon - Exactly. Thanks.
@Fly - Sorry. I don't always read through all the comments on every post. I may have missed your explanation. Nobody's trying to make you jump. Where you got that from, I don't know. I was just pointing out that when confront with one question, you make light or get upset about some other issue that allows you not to answer the point in question. Like now, in fact. Accusing me of trying to make you jump so you can get upset and not respond? Yeah. Didn't see that coming.
I repeat - I'm opinion to hearing different political views. But there is no such thing as "different" facts. You know: "everyone's entitled to their own opinion not their own facts."
And Fly, you don't have to explain anything to me if you don't want to. But just you don't want to. Stop acting like I'm trying to make you "jump" or prove you're "down" or any of that nonsense.
ReplyDeletejust *say* you
ReplyDelete1...2...3...counting to see how long it takes for some to come back on and post as anonymous.
ReplyDeleteAha! So he's a serially obssessive about panties. LOL. :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your blog,i don't get your problem with Lou Dobbs he is not a racist?
ReplyDeleteField:
ReplyDeleteYou know what gets me is the fact that there are exactly 802,000,000 blogs on the Internet and how someone that seems to have a problem with the topics you choose to write about and have a right to write about since it is your blog has the nerve to try to dictate to you what you should write about on yours.
Looks like to me if they're having a problem with what you write about to discuss that they'd go and try and find one that is more in line with their views and suits their taste and go blog there.
I know that is what I would do. Instead of trying to dictate to the owner of a blog what they should write about. People that blog on other's blogs need to realize that they are guest on other's blogs and that they are welcome to give their view, but their view does not include playing supervisor or dictator to the owner of that blog.
You would think that they have that much common sense. However, sometimes I wonder. I really do!
Anonymous 8:22:
ReplyDeleteCould it be because you might hold the same views as Lou Dobbs that you don't see him as such? Because whites, Hispanic/Latinoes, blacks, Indians, and Asians say that Lou Dobbs is racist and that is a general census and the majority is saying it. Unless, you are clueless to what racism is I don't see how you missing it.
Granny, you're so right.
ReplyDeleteThis guy comes here and on other occasions (I believe it's the same poster because the writing style is similar) come up with the same sorry complaints only to learn nothing from the responses.
He obviously is not here to learn anything or agree to disagree.
Anonymous 5:02,
ReplyDeleteI wish anonymous were intelligent enough to distinguish yourselves from each other.
The use of your statistics seems to be an attempt to make yourself special, because many of those black bastards are raised right and grow up to be something; your need is to stay above them. That is why you don't drill deep enough into the statistics.
Blacks conservatives existed before you were born and many black people are socially conservative. Only in the recent era of Rush, Hannity and their ilk have I ever heard as much black bashing from black folk. When I was young over fifty years ago, self hate and uppity-ness weren't related to ones political affiliation and never did I hear so much vitriolic cap as I do now. I am reminded of a monologue by Roscoe Lee Browne in the movie Black like me. I wish I could find a film clip.
cap = crap

ReplyDeleteI don't do "spell checking" unless it regards my tag.
ReplyDeleteSo, Fly, are you going to lay out the reasons why I should vote for conservatives?
Hathor:
ReplyDeleteAmen!
Sharon from Wi:
I got an idea who it is. The thing is that you would think they'd have sense enough to recognize that this is Field's blog not anonymous or whoever else's blog. For them to come on here and try to regulate and tell that man what he should and should not write about is like telling him what he should and should not think. So much for free thinking!
If there is one thing that I won't stand for is someone dictating to me how and what to think about. My mind is free and I refuse to let someone dictate to me what to say and what not to say and try to rob me of my given right as a human being. They would do better flying a kite on a rainy day with a lightening and thunderstorm than trying to pull that with Granny.
If anyone is psycho it's you! Not only that you have more personalities than Sybil. I've lost count of them you have so many.
ReplyDeleteYou claim to be 42 year old woman but you act like a 12 year old kid. If I were you, instead of concentrating on how many insults you can dish out, I'd be concentrating on learning how to spell so you don't make having all those degrees look bad.
When a person comments alway are geared towards begging for approval from others they tend to have a low self-esteem. Therefore, they try to make up for it by putting others down. People are not dumb and no one that post on this blog is for that fact. They can see through facades. You hold up your four degrees like trophies and can't even spell degree. One would think after all of that education you claim to have acquired that you would at least be able to spell. Unless those degrees are some of those fake mail-ordered kind, at least that would explain it.
Another thing, you need to work on your interpersonal communication skills because they are really way below level for a 42 year old woman.
Granny, "I love Mexican food, now why did you have to go and mention what you ate. Now, I'm craving for some at my favorite Mexican food Restaurant and they are closed today. *sigh*"
ReplyDeleteA real Mexican Restaurant is open on Sunday and serves Menudo for hangovers then. Have you tried cooking flank steak for tacos and burritos. You just use tenderizer and spices and refrig overnight. After you cook it, cut crosswise. It's actually better than most restaurants.

ReplyDelete"Stop complaining about the fruit plate, the ship is sinking."
Yes, but one of the reasons the ship is sinking is because too many of the people on board got full with the "fruit plate", and now they can't help the rest of us keep the damn ship afloat.
And BTW, I know all about our problems, I deal with them every day. What I would love is some real solutions. Or at least seeing folks put some of their solutions into action.
"Field:

Yes, granny it is the world wide web. And it's a big world. But I don't mind folks like anon. In fact, I am glad he/she is here, and we can read all about his/her points of views. As long as he/she is putting his/her work and time where his/her mouth is, it's cool with me.
We can agree to disagree all day long on the web. And we can get into e-fights and play the dozens. But at the end of the day if we are both putting in the work into our communities, and trying to influence what is happening in a positive way, it's all good.
I think Sharon from Wi, Fly...,and no1kstate, would all agree with that as well.
I swear, every time I read one of szpork's comments I get hungry.
ReplyDeleteHathor, maybe blacks didnt need as much bashing as they do now. As I recall the percentage of out of wedlock births during the million man march was 50%. I know because I was there and I identified with the problem. My father abandoned myself and my two siblings. My mother chose two other men to father children with her, both abandoned her/us. Never really was with us other than to inpregnate my mother. My mother shoulders some of the blame but it doesnt solve the problem. It now stands at 72% and counting. Seems like the soft approach hasnt worked. I wish I could find my father and the other sperm donors and share the misery we all went through because of them. I dont hate the people, I hate what they do. Get it right.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Granny goes, I have every right to say what I feel is important to the welfare of our people as any of us. I feel that parsing the Boortzs' of the world does us no good. I feel we have bigger problems that the occasional objective opinion of a fringe radio talk show host. If you feel that it is the Lou Dobbs' of this world that cause us the most grief, good luck in that argument.
As far as Sharon in Wis; You arent the first white chick that got dicked by a brother and now shes Rosa fuckin Parks. You wont be the last. What I do not need is some white liberal clown thinkin she knows my struggle, my point of view or my motives because she gets black dick.
I dont care what white liberals do to soothe their guilt or to appear "progressive" to their coffee shop poser friends. You know nothing of the experience so just keep that fat white ass buttered for brotha D'Twan and step to the back of the bus.

Field, you got a tough audience in the house tonight!
ReplyDeleteGranny (as always), KState, and Sharon - I've enjoyed your comments immensely today.
As to Analosity - For an "educated, articulate, black person" you are one dumb SOB - which if reports of your success are true, at least proves a level of equality in this here "Post Racial" America in equal success for mediocrity.
The ship is sinking...Which boat would that be? Mayhaps yours, leaking after being riddled with false numbers and racial pseudo science shat into your "wide stance" cranium which you apparently gleefully offer up to anyone with the right behind coloration.
Now, while I agree with you that folks need to take responsibility, I - apparently unlike yourself, am smart enough to investigate the "numerology" and motivation of anyone standing on the street corner soapbox wearing a placard - "the end is near". Whereas yourself, in an imitation of a low water consumption toilet, are perennially stuck in the mid flush of the brown effluvium of a seemingly shocking "70%" number halfway out of your mouth.
I've been criticized here for my less than kind words to black and other conservatives, but about the 477th time I pull out the intellectual plunger to show empirically why such doesn't mean what some shit-for-brains conservative thinks it does...
My patience, never my long suit...
Ends.
There are 473,000 links on the WWW providing a real analysis of why that number is what it is, and why it isn't statistically significant as a "black condition" as the white bastard rate is rapidly rising to equalize.
American Social problem? Yes. I buy the concept that the family is disintegrating in America, and that we should find ways to strengthen it.
Black problem? Only if you are shit-for-brains conservative stupid...
Or racist.

You need healing in your heart from all the anger and hurt you feel towards your father and mother. The Lord wants to heal you from it but first you need to really forgive them and then forgive yourself. If you don't it will always cripple you in your spirit and eat you up on the inside. You can't change what they did because that is water under the bridge now. Neither can you change who your parents were. But you can accept the healing in your heart for it, move on, and gain more inner strength from your experience, so that you can reach back and help others going through a similar situation cross that same bridge.

ReplyDeleteI mean, the joke wouldn't have quite translated if I said, j/k. You know?
no1kstate:
ReplyDeleteNo need to explain that, I knew it was a joke. I was just sharing and thinking outloud about the variety within our community.
@Granny - We are certainly a beautiful rainbow. ;)

ReplyDelete"Granny - We are certainly a beautiful rainbow."
That's right baby! We are a very unique people.
The shit is sad and it is Un-American.Actually Field, this sort of crap is right up our alley. Hell it's Un-human. But this is what I have come to expect from these people who feel that their country is slipping away and their traditional way of life is going right along with it. The Reich Wingers, as you have pointed out, are operating on assumptions that everything was A-OK in the Leave It To Beaver 1950s Amerikkka. Which it wasn't- but that don't stop them from thinking that.
ReplyDeleteCall me cruel if you want, but if 5 or 5000 GOPers die from H1N1, don't expect me to mourn.
DAMN, can't we just all get along?
ReplyDeleteLOL.
"I dont respond to the "jump ni**a jump from white folks I'm sure as hell not going to respond to someone like you. Besides your debate with anon is proof that I'd be wasting my time anyway."
ReplyDeleteAre we to draw from your words that you hold "white folks" in higher regard than "people like" no1kstate. Because your only form of comparison is color.
Perhaps that is the source of your disdain for blacks. You don't seem to like the color of your skin much when you use the same arguments peddled by the Limbaughs, Boortzs, Malkins, Coulters, Becks, et al. to claim the superiority of one race over another.
btx3 makes an excellent point. The problems of the black (or any minority) community that are force fed down America's collective throat are America's problems. Crime, poverty, drugs, single-family homes? American problems. Not black problems. Statistics can be used to frame any argument that suits the reporter's needs.
ReplyDeleteWe are conditioned to have a very superficial view of those we meet. This is a lazy human characteristic, yes, but one that is exploited to maintain racial tension in this country.
It's not conservative vs. liberal, or GOP vs. Dem. It's money and power vs. people.
Now before one of you crazed fools trolling on this blog accuses me of hating on the wealthy, STOP. I don't have a problem with wealth or acquiring it. I do have a problem with people stepping all over their fellow man to get it and when gotten to hold onto it.
Ask yourself why do we constantly hear about black/hispanic crimes in the corporate-owned media. If you take a superficial view of the matter, sure more blacks and hispanics are committing crimes.
Let's take a deeper look, though. A disproportionate number of blacks/hispanics live in urban areas. Institutionalized racism has played a major role in keeping POCs out of higher paying jobs, better communities and has kept funding away from inner city schools. This creates a set of obstacles that most don't overcome.
While it is a triumph that some posting here overcome obstacles to make something of their lives it is unfortunate to hear those same voices say "Say their is no racism, look at ME, ME, ME!" Or others who after overcoming obstacles tell others who haven't or couldn't that they play the race card.
Who is this person that in the same thread lists their accomplishments and then belittles those of another? Is that not obviously a by-product of a low self-esteem?
ReplyDeletePersonal accomplishments are just that, personal. They do not say anything for your character. Hitler became the leader of a nation and rebuilt a demoralized Germany. His name though is synonymous with hatred, bigotry and violence because of his character.
anonymous 8:22 was my first post on this forum,i didn't tell anyone what to write about i asked why Lou Dobbs was considered a racist?Granny i think the word you were looking for was"consensus".Are you folks aware of whom Lou Dobbs is married to?
ReplyDeleteSo, his wife is Mexican American. Interesting. But this does not mean he can't be anti-Mexican.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fatladysings.us/the_fat_lady_sings/2006/05/the_problem_wit.html
It would be real nice if these anon mofo's could identify themselves, instead of throwing darts then running behind a big rock like the punks they REALLY are, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, I ONLY state my accomplishments to make a point. Maybe if you had some of you had your own, you wouldn't be so dam jealous of others.
ReplyDeleteMore than that, if I'm so hell bent on showing off and bragging, why isn't there far more about my accomplishments on my personal page?? Trust me, there's a hellva LOT more to write than what's written there, HATERS!!
Maybe if you had some of you had your own, you wouldn't be so dam jealous of others.I can see how people get the impression they have about you. Do you honestly believe you are the only person on this board with any accomplishments to his or her name?
ReplyDeleteYour snarky attitude will hardly earn you accolades of "You go girl!"
Sharon from WI said...
ReplyDeleteI can see how people get the impression they have about you"
Allow me to take this opportunity once again to check you and everyone who thinks like you do. I didn't get snarky until idiots approached me on the ignorant bullshit tip about my comments, my political views ect, OK? The problem was that folks expected me to cower when attacked and I don't do that. Come after me with bullshit, and I'm going to respond by going for the jugular vein with words. You resent me because I speak my mind without seeking yours or anyone else's approval and that sounds like a personal problem, certainly NOT mine.
Now you may not want to believe it and I don't really care if you do or not, but WOMEN tend to be VERY jealous, and if you don't think that some of what I'm getting is due to that, then you need to wake up.
Bottom line, I don't need the internet virtual "you go girl" choir backing me because I have REAL sisters, friends and collegues, that do that for me. In other words, why masturbate, when you can get the real thing.
Fly,
ReplyDeleteWell, I tell you, you really know how to make friends and influence people.
There are many people here--myself, Granny, Field, who are known to stand their ground, especially with the trolls.
I honestly can't say what your stance is politically for all that comes to mind are posters' responses to your bragging rights and accusations of jealousy.
However, I can recall some of the more memorable remarks from the likes of Granny, Field, et. al.
But in any case, I think it's nice to have friends--virtual or otherwise.
And btw, masturbation does have its place.
Even when you do have access to the "real thing."
It's like eating your cake and having it too. :-)
Fly - Really? Lots of times you respond by going for the jugular when no one has attacked you. So it comes across as bragging. If you're not bragging, stop looking for a fight where there is none.
ReplyDeleteFly,
ReplyDeleteExactly what is your political stance that makes you believe you're are under attack?
Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer, Sharon. Fly's m.o. is to accuse you of trying to make her "jump" and of course, she "jumps" for no one. And since I've point this tendecy out, she may copy-paste and write, "LOL!" or something. But she won't answer the question.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, no one is jealous of you, nor do they have a reason to be jealous of you. What turns people off is that you've stated your accomplishments since day one, which is great. It is always great when blacks can achieve something, especially in America. However, you turn around and insult others and tell them their accomplishments don't amount to nothing, which in turns gives people the impression that you think your better than everyone on here.
ReplyDeleteYou being an older woman were asked a question in a nice, respectful manner by a young lady,no1state, a woman younger than you a question. She was very humble about it, polite, gracious, and practically begged you for an answer,. She kept telling you that she was not trying start a fight with you, and even pleaded with you. She just wanted to know your views. It was no harm in that.
ReplyDeleteWhen people tried to point that out to you, you got a chip on your shoulders and decided to play a childish game of tit for tat, revenge, and gush out more insults. You decided to play Ms. Hardcore, wannabe, thug chick, instead of representing yourself as a woman who has been educated, you stooped to the level of the lowest element.
The answer she got was a hoodish and an off the wall answer, "When you step to me... And told that she was kid... etc, etc.," as if she was trying to have a fist fight with you or something and insults galore, which was totally unnecessary and uncalled for. What kind of answer is that? Do you treat all young people like that? It wasn't an intelligent answer that's for sure. You want people that you, constantly, insult to recognize your accomplishments, while you talk to them like they have a tail on them.
ReplyDeleteMost the people that post on here have respect for others and, especially, their elders, which demonstrates that they had a good upbringing in their childhood, which reflects on them and what type of parents they had. But you... Well, I don't think you're capable of grasping the meaning and impact of that. What you've said is something some of these young kids nowadays that have behavior problems and that are out of control would say who have been raised in broken homes with practically no supervision, not a mature, educated woman.
Even when you called yourself arguing back and forth with some of the males on here and btw they played you like a piano. You thought that you were doing something and proving that you were Ms Bad-azz or some tough chick. However, you made yourself look bad and disrespected yourself in the process. They treated you accordingly to how you've represented yourself and it sure wasn't respectable.
Not one male on this blog, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, or Indian stood up for you and told those males that you chose to go back and forth with and used expletives with to stop, that they were treating you with disrespect. And I'll be the first to tell you that all of the males on here would have spoke up in your behalf, because I've seen them do it before. We have some very respectable and decent men posting on here.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Constructive would have been one of the first men on here to stand up for you and more so because you said you are conservative. That would have been right up his alley and even though he and I disagree on issues, I like Constructive. However, it must be the way that you carry yourself that even he didn't bother to speak up for you.
Okay, so noted. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had a friend once, a Ph.D. in sociology. She teaches society and the family at the local technical college and she believes she is an expert on everything.
You see, she has a Ph.D., don't you know?
She also has a personality disorder; she honestly thinks the world revolves around her and she's another one who believes all women are jealous of her.
One year, I lost a dear friend to brain cancer. She called me shortly after my friend's death and I started crying.
This worman started babbling about how I should "let it out" because she knew I was concerned about her check-up she recently had. (She had lung cancer some years ago).
But my grief had nothing to do with her.
To this day, I wish I had hung up in her face.
However, you turn around and insult others and tell them their accomplishments don't amount to nothing, which in turns gives people the impression that you think your better than everyone on here. Exactly! And it certainly will p!ss people off.
ReplyDeleteWow, Sharon. That is some serious, take-some-meds, narcissism.
ReplyDeleteI remember once, when I was younger, I overheard my aunt on the phone with one of her friends saying, "She's so into herself, she might as well be masterbating." Not that I know who the "she" was or that I want to extend the earlier comments on masterbation, I just always thought it was quite a turn of phrase. I never thought I'd hear of someone who's self-loving could surpass that overheard description.
Now, Sharon, I believe I have!
KState,
ReplyDeleteLOL. Your aunt's friend was likely the type of person--like my Ph.D. friend--who could so monopolize the conversation that you literally could put down the phone, go to the kitchen and make a sandwich and return...and she wouldn't even notice you had left.
Sharon from WI
ReplyDeleteLike I said before, I wouldn't give a rat's ass if the entire blogosphere disagred with my comments, I'm not here for approval, I'm here to express my views. Now if you still have a problem with that then I suggest you find another blog because I really like this blog, and I ain't going NO where.
And to be honest, the only reason the bitch fest directed toward me ever ends is because I eventually choose to be the adult and refuse to respond to any additional vitriolic diatribes directed at me. I've certainly learned to ignore one particular commentor on this site with ease, and it's a dam shame a few of you are too immature to do the same. Don't like someone's comments? Grow up, stop being a bitch, and ignore them.
In other words, I bet I could come back to this post 50 years from now and some bitter old witch will STILL call herself telling me off, LOL!!
Smh!
ReplyDelete"The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice."
Hon, I honestly don't know what your comments are.
ReplyDeleteI do know from a cursory review of this thread that you even take issue with folks who even agree with you.
And what's up with the profanity and name-calling?
Is that necessary or is that you "keeping it real"?
Gingy:
ReplyDeleteYup, we're aware of who Lou Dobbs is married to. That doesn't seem to matter to him though the way he spouts out his hatred for Hispanic and Latino immigrants. He is a hateful and evil man.
When I heard of "swine flu", my first thought was the pharmaceutical companies were in the need of some money and what is a good way but to drop a lab made virus into a small village and see what happens. O course they would have the "cure" in the freezer but tell the public that it will take several years of research.
ReplyDeleteDuchessDee:
ReplyDeleteYup, you know how the old pharmaceutical game goes. However, I wonder about the needing money part, especially, since they've been milking senior citizen's out of their little fixed income with their exorbitant prices for the last eight years. Senior citizens have to choose nowadays between getting their prescriptions filled or eating or paying electric & gas. Sometimes the medicine is as high as, well, just add two zeroes like in hundred behind the price one prescription bottle. Not to mention, most of them have up to 12or more prescriptions that need to be filled. The Republicans and pharmaceuticals companies must hate their aging parents too. Is it anyone they don't hate? (wink)
Sharon - See? Was I right, or was I right?
ReplyDelete@KState:
ReplyDeleteYep. You certainly are. :-)
Did Lou Dobbs really say "they are out of their cotton pickin' minds"?
ReplyDeleteHave mercy.
