Apologies and the Christian card.

I love blogging, I really do. But sometimes my fellow bloggers pull some shit that leaves me scratching my head. Like this latest story, for instance. Did you all hear about this one?

Seems there was a blogger in Illinois who posted a fake story claiming to be pregnant with a terminally ill child. (First red flag) And, of course, she chose to carry her poor child to full term rather that opt for an abortion. Why you ask?Because of her "deep Christian faith", that's why. (That's it, play the Christian card, it works every time)

Anyway, the gig was up after someone spotted a rat. Or should I say a doll. Yep, girlfriend had a picture of a doll up on her site posing as a real live baby after she supposedly gave birth to the little bundle of joy. (I am still not sure if the baby was supposedly born dead or not)

Sunday, she did what A-merry-cans have become so good at; she apologized for her little scam. (Hey at least she didn't ask for any money)

"Beushausen posted a lengthy apology on her blog Sunday, saying she had lost pregnancies in the past."'I have suffered this type of loss, more than once, to varying degrees, and while the circumstances and the times vary ... the pain is very constant,...."'

Rebeccah, I feel your pain, but unfortunately, your doll can't.

And before I call it a night I want to talk about another recent A-merry-can apology. This one is from yet another phony ass republican poli-trickster who couldn't keep his johnson in his pants. This time the wondering johnson belongs to republican senator, John Ensign, of Nevada. Apparently, like our boy John Edwards, he was getting his freak on with a campaign staffer. (Hey, gotta get those talking points, right?) But unlike John Edwards, this creep was a member of the Christian men's group "Promise Keepers", and he has championed all sorts of religious causes to pander to his conservative base. In other words, he is a fucking hypocrite!

Oh field, there you go again, if he was a dumbocrat you wouldn't have even blogged about this. Yes, that would be correct. Because if he was a dumbocrat he wouldn't have been conducting bible studies one day, and sneaking away and getting Bill Clintons with campaign staffers the next.

"Last year I had an affair. I violated the vows of my marriage," Ensign told reporters, refusing to take any questions. "It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it."

Yeah right, just another apology from a conservative poli-trickster who was saying one thing and doing another. Hey, at least he wasn't getting his freak on with a doll.

Isn't that what the Rev. Jesse Jackson did?Or did he knock up some hood rat?

  2. I saw the first story in a newspaper this weekend. At one point, she was getting a million hits a day! That's insane. It seems if you use a couple times in a sentence and label yourself a Christian, people will blindly believe anything you say. Some people set themselves up because they don't use their head for anything but a hat rack.

And your boy Ensign gets the hypocrite of the year award. He has called out everyone else on their indiscretions and railed against gay rights as violating the very sanctity of the institution of marriage. And all the while he was violating a few things himself.

  3. Ten years ago, poor Rebeccah's scam would never have gotten off the ground.... a sad side affect of the age of Internet.... The speed and ability to post anything and have millions see it.

As for Sen. Hypocrite, he is another shining example of why those politicians that position themselves as the keepers of "Morality" are such a joke... This guy is the same that blasted Clinton and called him an embarrassment.... pot meet kettle.

  5. This, Ensign situation, speaks more to the hypocrisy of the GOP in general.

They will attack everyone but their own for immoral behavior. People who have been fooled by them in the past, including the evangelicals, are starting to wake up and realize that the GOP isn't the party of God but the party of fake Christians.

  10. Of course the Repubs only attack the other side for their indiscretions. Democrats do the same. Both only care about winning, which means they only care about beating the other team.

No one cares about the general populace, or our percieved moral standard... just winning.

  11. Wow...a heterosexual Republican sex scandal. That's something you don't see every day.

Honestly Field; It’s actually not the sex that bugs me, it's the hypocrisy. Having extramarital affairs while preaching "family values" and "good xtian morals" to the Tali-christ anti freedom crowd, so that you can obtain and maintain political power, puts one on roughly the same level as bug shit.

These are the same assholes who will send their daughters away for an abortion, just to to save their image, but will then turn around and actively try and prevent minors from having access to birth control and trying to outlaw choice, and planned parenthood help to unwed mothers.

Humans are flawed spiritually sick beings. Because one is a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu does not make them perfect. In some ways, ‘hypocrite’ IS a synonym for a ‘human being’. And ‘hypocrisy’ IS a synonym for ‘human behavior’ due to human defects of character. You can really see it in the public field of politics, entertainment and religion. Wherever there are humans, there will be some “bs”. It’s been that way in the human race.

Lust and greed are two of the most powerful forces on earth and will triumph over ‘most’ humans, especially inside the Beltway, Hollywood, Wall Street, and even in some religious circles. MOST Americans, given the right circumstance, time, and place are likely to fall to lust and greed, especially in America because America is a sexually addicted society.

Yet, Americans can be quite unmerciful and unforgiving when it comes to sex and adultery. I remember Chris Rock’s joke about Bill Clinton. I am paraphrasing, but he said, “Since Bill Clinton has been President, more Americans have more jobs than ever before; and they are taking more vacations than ever before. The economy has never been better. The dollar is very strong, and for the first time in American history, the US has no debts. Yet Americans are f----ing with Bill because of Monica Lewinsky. Hell, with what Clinton has been doing for America, the least we can do is let the man get a little head now and then!”

Behind the humor of that joke, one can see that when it comes to sex, Americans can be self-righteous hypocrites who are unaware of their own hypocrisy. It doesn’t matter whether you are Christian, agnostic or atheist. Today it's Ensign who is a Republican who has fallen from Christian grace. Tomorrow it might be a Christian Democrat, a political atheist, or a even a monk.

  19. Anyone who says that they're true to their significant other, needs to define the term, "true."

No one is true to another, all the time--not true to humans, not true to God.

Those who say that they're true to God will, at some point in their life, see their faith flag, or their Christian resolve suffer defeat, temporarily, or over an extended period of time.

Men who say that they're true to their spouses will, occasionally, look lustfully upon another woman, and women upon another man.

We do great harm to ourselves by pledging tomorrow's stance, using today's resolve.

The pledge need take place daily, as long as the heart's location is still one's treasure.

Otherwise, when fidelity lapses, speaking the truth to all concern, especially to oneself, trumps any show of false fidelity--which leads to a hypocrisy of the soul.

  20. The problem is people visualize and want Christians to be perfect, but that is impossible because they're all human too and subject human errs just like anyone else. We all sin and fall short of the glory of the Lord. There is not perfect human being on this earth. God knows that and he is a forgiving God. Nonetheless, there is a price to pay for those human errs (sin and as nation too.

There are many people who have given Christianity a bad name because of the corruption of some that has taken place in the buildings. However, each individual is the church, the building is where people of like faith go to fellowship together. Because your body is the Temple (church) of the Lord.

    LadyCracker:

That's what we're supposed to be doing, encouraging and praying for one another while here on earth. But our human minds get caught up in the waging a war that goes on in it.

Lady Cracker, BD and A+, some of us will never have that hypocrisy problem when it comes to morality, because we don't try to preach to other people and tell them how to live their own personal lives. I am flawed and I know it, so I would be a damn fool to try and tell someone else how to live their life.

Yes Bill was getting his freak on, but Bill wasn't running around trying to get legislation passed to prevent two people of the same sex from marrying each other.

That's why people like sick freak don't get it. It's not the fact that this asshole was out humping around (sorry to steal yor line Bobby Brown) on his wife. 33. I've heard that gay marriage will destroy the sanctity of marriage. It's funny they never mention the cheaters, beaters, and people who marry just for money. I didn't like it when Bill or John did it, but I especially hate it when someone who is trying to tell you how to live basically turns his back on his own teaching. This "do as I say but not as I do" mentality is what's turning people into sheep as it is. No one will question you because you're supposedly so spiritual that if you fall down because God doesn't like if you call out His "annoited" leader of the church. Yet the same guy will be calling for sinners to be judged and the head of a member who is doing wrong with the other members following in tow. The funny thing is that Jesus himself would have called the guy out and kick over the podium at collection time. I could go into more since I live in a place with COGIC(don't get me started on them), segragated churches, churches on every corner but have a lot of violence and homeless folks, and gay preachers.

I remember how Bill was blown out of the water for his affair with Monica, impeached, investigated and whatnot.

Funny thing is, I felt, who were we to chastise him? What I mean is this, and I am sure folks may disagree with me, but he owed an apology to Hilary & Chelsea and that's it. He took a oath of office, and while he put his hand on the Bible, he swore to protect us, uphold our liberties and freedoms etc. He did not say he wouldn't cheat on his wife.

As for Ensign, I remember him as well, along with Newt, screaming bloody murder. But I say the same thing, he owes his apology to his wife, not me. That's just how I feel about it. Now it doesn't make him any less grimey, but I just feel like it is a personal matter that should be handled in his home.

Does anyone have proof that he, or Clinton, because of their affairs put America in harms way? Did they have their hands on the nuke button and hit it in error in the throes of passion? Did they embezzle, do an (allegedly) Morgan Freeman and while getting satisfied orally, run off the road?

Then for me, I don't care, that's their business. As long as he does his job. Now the other (probably hypocritical) part to this is that I do care about marriage and the vows that folks take. I just am tired of hearing how politicians cheat. Hell, they are politicians, do we really expect anything less? If it were me, I'd tell everyone asking me questions to get off my tip and go home and get ready to sleep on the couch, albeit with one eye open at all times.

the story of sodom and gomorrah is wholly irrelevant to this tryst news and all sexual issues
    in general...

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah has NOTHING to do with homosexuality. You will not even find the word “homosexual” in any version of this text. The angels came to destroy the city BEFORE they met the evil mob. Lot offers his virgin daughters to that same mob. Later, these same girls rape Lot. Lot’s wife was destroyed. If this story condemns homosexuality, then it also condones incest and gang rape. And, Lot’s wife was a lesbian. NONE of which is true.

From The Good Book: “The Hebrew verb “to know” is rarely used in a sexual sense. It occurs 943 times in the Old Testament and in only 10 of those does it have the sense of carnal knowledge. Sodom is referred to throughout the Old Testament as a place of wickedness and is synonymous with it. But, nowhere does it state that homosexuality was the wickedness in question...Sodomite refers almost exclusively to a male prostitute...to say that homosexual conduct is wrong because the bible says it is, is not to answer, but to dismiss the question....Sex can be productive without being reproductive. Homosexual rape is never to be condoned. It is indeed, like heterosexual rape, an abomination before God. David’s sin of adultery with Bathsheba does not make all heterosexual expressions sinful!”

From The Bible, Ezekiel 17:48-50: “The Lord says ‘Your sister Sodom’s sins were pride and laziness and too much food. While the poor and needy suffered outside her door, she insolently worshipped many idols as I watched. Therefore, I crushed her.’”

From What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality: “The sin of Sodom was abuse and offense to strangers-insult to the traveler, inhospitality to the needy. The story is no more about sex than it is about pounding on someone’s front door. The bible offers NO valid conclusion whatsoever about homosexuality.”

This is such a regular habit with "born again Christians" -- the self-righteousness, the lying, the hypocrisy -- that you really have to dig deeper and ask why so many of them do it.

    My answers are the following.

    1. The louder they preach, the more they are preaching to themselves. It's classic "projection," right out of Psychology 101. They see the sin in themselves, so they rail against it in others to deflect their attention.

    2. The theology of the born again Protestants is that, once you declare that Jesus Christ is your personal savior and died for your sins, you WILL go to heaven. It's one hell of a wild card, because then you can go out and go whatever the hell you want to, secure in the knowledge that you've been "saved."

    3. Political ideologues of all kinds will commonly tell lies if they think it advances their cause.

All of these things wind up, in practical effect, being enablers for the oldest flaws in the book, pride and deceit. Born-agains don't have a patent on it, but their style is particularly galling because they wrap themselves in God as they lie, cheat, and steal while lecturing everyone else about the proper way to live.

@Aeryn, I agree with you 100%. Something else that I have noticed is that there seems to be an adverse 'over-reaction' to the faults of Christians by those who don’t like religion, Christianity or God. They come out like sharks smelling blood in the water whenever a Christian falls down. They become the very moralists that they criticize. Sometimes it feels very much like hate, or at the very minimum, gleeful disdain.

I am NOT a Christian, but I have respect for Christianity, and all religions for that matter. Religion helps people who want to be better people in a world already overflowing with bad people. It's not perfect, but if there were no religions in the world many humans would be without hope; and the human race would be 100 times meaner, more vicious and untrustworthy than it already is. IMO, there is nothing more dangerous in this world than a human with nothing bigger than their own egos to believe in.

Ensign preached morality and was unable to live up to his values. So what’s new? People often talk as though they really got their shit together all the time-esp. politicians. Funny thing is, they are usually standing ankle deep in their own crap at the same time. That’s not something 'peculiar' to Ensign, that’s something that is common to ALL humans.

I have been a believer, an atheist, and an agnostic during my lifetime. I have learned that church and religion isn’t for NON-Hypocrites. People go to church because they ARE hypocrites. It’s for people who are trying to become better people.

Holier-than-thou-stinking-thinking about religion, Christians, and God doesn’t make anyone better, including the atheists and agnostics who doing the judging. If Christians- whether Repubs or Dems- were perfect, they wouldn't be Christians. You dig? Most people’s words and behaviors WON’T match a lot of times--esp. if they are politicians. So it is no surprise to me that Ensign has fallen on his ‘verbal sword’. Now he has to answer to his wife and God.

Don't get me wrong, Ensign should be criticized but he has not harmed the country. And I am NOT a Christian, Republican, or a Democrat. But you self-righteous atheists, agnostics, and non-believers need to get a grip on your selves. Go have a drink-- or if you have to, go get f---ed like Ensign did.

But for Christ’s sake, take a break from that sanctimonious critic of yours. You’ll feel better.

Once upon a time religion and beliefs in higher powers were the center of many people's/family's lives. If it works for you wonderful. I take issue with anyone forcing their beliefs upon me or damning me if I don't believe. Just because someone believes something to be true doesn't make it true!

As for Olive Garden, any retraction of ads would hurt them in this economy, they're one of the few chain restaurants doing well.

  48. I know they say that Ensign revealed the truth because he was being blackmailed by his mistress' husband but have anyone ever thought that the actual truth to this story is more twisted than we could imagine? What if Ensign was having an affair with the husband and not the wife and decided to come out with his version first? Now that would be even more shameful considering his record and opinion on gay marriage. I think there is more to this story.

This so-called Christian woman claiming a pregnancy of a special needs child is only playing on the Sarah Palin lie that she knowingly gave birth to a DS child. (Check out palindeception.com. I think SP faked her pregnancy. Something is not right about that situation.) As for David Letterman, his joke was tasteless but was definitely aimed at the 18 year old who got 'knockedup' and had a baby out of wedlock and not the 14 year old (who is actually 15) like the Palins claimed. They wanted to make this out to be a bigger deal than what it actually was. That's why only 15 people showed up to protest on her behalf! This woman needs to disappear. I don't think she cares much for us black folks anyway. I think she is still pissed that a beautiful black woman beat her out for Ms. Alaska. She's got issues and dangerous.

But you self-righteous atheists, agnostics, and non-believers need to get a grip on your selves. Go have a drink-- or if you have to, go get f---ed like Ensign did.

Excuse me, it's not the Christianity, it's the lying and especially the hypocrisy that's the issue.

The jerk-off was a member of the "Promise Keepers," an evangelical group that touts the virtues of marriage and fidelity. He prattles on about the "sanctity of marriage" as an argument against allowing gays to marry each other. He told Clinton to resign for his affair with Lewinsky.

Ensign should go read his fuckin' Bible. "Live by the sword, die by the sword." I don't have an ounce of sympathy for the jerk.

  52. Looks like Fox News received a letter from Ensign's mistress' husband telling them about the affair and Ensign's hypocrisy five days before Ensign went public. Instead of Faux News being fair and balanced and reporting the deception, they informed Ensign of the letter. Read the article in Las Vegas Sun Times below:

You are all wrong about Ensign. Yes, he did have an affair. But it was his good conscience that led him to admit his wrongs in public. There is no other reason.

It takes a good man to admit his wrongs without being forced to do so.

Wow, I hope you are kidding. If not, you really are drinking the kool aid! Read the article below. Ensign was forced to go public. He was trying to get his side of the story out first.

Ok, you got me. I was having a really good fantasy high from some really good kool-aid until you came along.

Now I know why they call you the "Naked Truth"...the 'truth' hurts. You have ruined my kool-aid high and my weekend.

Next time do me a favor: 'leave me the fuck alone so I can enjoy my kool-aid in peace.'

You Dems are such kill joys.

You sound hopeless....Try Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma, or even Ensign's church in Nevada. You might stand a chance for redemption and turn your sinful life against God around.

A good priest in your local area might be able to help you too.

You wretched sinner. I was hoping that you'd be saved along with Ensign but I see you are committed to Satan and his disciples. Poor Grinder. You will be grinding your teeth as you go up in smoke as you descend into hell.

I tried to save you. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of company...ab and Fly will be there to keep you company. All of you can scream together. It'll be interesting. No racism there, because everybody is the same color. Fire tends to do that to people....Free at last!
