A proper sendoff and a clown.

*
I must confess that I am not into funerals. I don't like the fact that you can't be honest about the life that someone lived just because they are now dead. Besides, I don't like the finality and the sense of the inevitable that comes with such occasions. When the day comes that the wheels come off this ride of life that I have been on, Mrs. Field has been instructed to burn what will be left of my body and sprinkle the ashes off the coast of Falmouth, Jamaica, the town where I was born. Since I am not particularly religious I will leave that part up to her.

Having said that, Ted Kennedy had a wonderful sendoff. Obama's eulogy was on point, and his -Kennedy's-sons gave sincere and heartfelt goodbyes. His wife's grief was genuine and seeing all those former presidents just added to the moment. Yep, that was certainly a memorable moment in A-mery-ca's history.

I hate to put the two in the same blog post, but I can't let today go by without commenting on a disturbing link that my friend, Sharon from Wisconsin, sent me from the New Republic. It involves our old friend, Jesse L. Peterson, and I am so embarrassed and repulsed by this negro (No caps in Negro when referring to him) that I am seriously considering dedicating some funds and time to have a study done on him. (I am serious) I am sure that there is a psychiatric professional who studies the type of behavior that this man exhibits. This level of self- hatred and reprobation is beyond "Stockholm Syndrome", it is a sickness that knows no words.

"Black Group Comes Out In Support Of Glenn Beck.

BOND Action, Inc., a national cultural action organization, has come out in support of FOX News Channel broadcaster Glenn Beck. Beck has been under attack from the radical left-wing group ColorOfChange.org after he said last month that he believes President Obama is “a racist.”

ColorOfChangeorg was founded by Van Jones; a self-described “rowdy black nationalist.” Jones now serves as White House environmental advisor (“green jobs czar”). So far advertisers including Geico, Ally Bank, and Sargento Cheese have been intimidated into pulling ads off The Glenn Beck Show. “BOND Action, Inc., will be working to expose the source behind the boycott and counter it,” said Founder and President, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.

“Glenn Beck is right, Obama is a racist! ” added Rev. Peterson. “Where were the boycotts and outraged activists when President George W. Bush was being falsely maligned as a ‘racist’? This is a blatant double standard. This boycott is an attempt to silence Beck from continuing his expose’ of Barack Obama’s socialist agenda and his radical ‘green jobs czar’ Van Jones.” ColorOfChange.org claims some 33 advertisers have pulled their ads off The Glenn Beck Show, but that number is reportedly exaggerated. ColorOfChange.org has a checkered past. The group reportedly endorsed outrageous statements by rapper Kanye West that former President Bush gave troops permission to go to New Orleans and shoot black people during Hurricane Katrina. Beck’s television program draws more than 2 million viewers and BOND Action, Inc., is calling on advertisers not to cave in to pressure.

Rev. Peterson said, “ColorOfChange.org claims that it exists to ‘strengthen Black America’s political voice’—but it’s clear that they are a left-wing, racist political group that deal in lies. This attempt to silence Beck is an attack on free speech and must be countered.”
BOND Action, Inc. is a 501 (c) (4) cultural action organization, which exists to educate motivate and rally Americans to greater involvement in the moral, cultural and political issues that threaten our great country. Contributions to BOND Action, Inc. are NOT tax-deductible, but are confidential. For more information call (877) WE-ACT-77 (932-2877) or visit
www.bondaction.org">"

Thank you Rev. [and New Republic] for giving us a number and an e-mail address so that we can reach your sorry ass.

This is a little off the blazen trail, but you should consider Coral Reef burials. I'm sentimental about how my departure shall be celebrated, and the church, casket, and phony tears thing isn't me.

In Coral Reef burials, your ashes are mixed with something that the plants on the ocean floor love. You can have your future reef custom made (mine will be shaped like Africa).

Burials are held on a small boat, a short, secular ceremony is made (or in my case, a tribute to the African Ancestors). Then, the EXACT coordinates of the funeral are recorded, and some marker is placed so that (for a while), the reef that you become can be located.

So, I will end up in the ocean depths, like many who escaped the Middle passage by jumping overboard into the bellies of sharks. And fittingly, it will be off the coast of Charleston, SC, the biggest port of entry for African slaves.

I agree Field, it was a very nice service for Ted Kennedy. Despite all his failings, he lived his life with the idea of service to otherss, have a purpose in this life, perservance, and redemption. It is unfortunate Rev. Peterson have a purpose of being a lap dog, and calling him a house negro would be too kind. Media whore and selling your soul for little or nothing better describes him. The man has no principles, so I suppose it would easy to sell himself to the highest bidder.

What Rev Peterson done to contribute to society? Does his organization help people in need? Van Jones has founded a couple of organization with the purpose of improving the lives of others and the Peterson can up with is calling him a black nationalist, and POTUS a socialist and racist. Does he even know what socialism mean? It is my hope that Peterson gives himself enough rope to hang himself (I mean figurative).

  13. I was on Face Book earlier today and there is this guy who was praising this asshole. The host of this thread (which provided the link to the story on Peterson) is a "friend" of a real friend whose judgment I am starting to question.

In any case, I told him about the ties Petersen had with the former White Citizens Council, et. al., and that back in the 50s and 60s there were "good nigras" who touted segregation while excoriating Dr. King.

I also suggested that should he meet this a$$hole that he rub his head for good luck. Peterson would like that.

All you have to do is mimic what ever White Republicans say and say it like you mean it and if there is ever anything racist said you defend it like you are defending your life and voilà, you have a job and job security.

Btw Field, you could make a fortune should you decide to 'turn Republican'. They would love you. And I'm sure you would be rewarded with lots of speaking engagements (those things pay well just ask Sarah Palin).

@ Bro Field and Shabazz. I first heard about these funerals when I was in Charleston. Increasing numbers of people, who don't like the idea of worms and mold eventually feasting on their bodies are considering this option.

I can't remember exact prices now, but they are considerably cheap. And the funerals are as classy as they get. I forgot to mention that, after you are lowered into the sea, your family/friends throw flowers onto the surface of the ocean. The day is typically chosen so that the funeral is held in the evening, so that you go out of here with a beautiful sunset shining across the water.

(As a side note, I don't dwell on death too much. However, I do want to leave here in style).

He is quick to accept Glen Beck's side of the story but quick to condone a reasonable interpretation of our President's words. He is a liar and a hypocrite. And I don't care for our President's policies at all, but by no means is calling him a racist even called for.

To Brother Shabazz..I too am from Virginia (been over the world and there is no place like home..an FAMILY). VA is a fertile ground for racial solidarity due to our social pecking order. We have white, black an all others. Many other social orers have many ethnics to deal with. I feel today's socialidarity is needed to correct/change our needs. Thats not a word by the way only used to exspress an idea. As an addeum...Senator Kennedy and his brothers gave passive support to our social goals of the 60s. We felt that not all whites were bad. JFK picture was in many Black housewholes along with Jesus and MLK, My social drives were opposite to my parents; therefor I had to leave at the age of 18. To this day I have saved my parents' pictures of Jesus and the Kennedys.

It must turn your stomach to know that your ideas, your misapplied principles and twisted sense of right and wrong that has bred your hatred have left you marginalized. You and others like you take comfort in your numbers not realizing that on November 8th you were shown where your politics have carried you: Out of focus, out of power and out of relevance.
You exist but that existence is meaningless until you change the course of your life and realize your hatred consumes any rational, intelligent human being that may have existed in slow-decaying form of a body.

Ted Kennedy may not have been perfect. He may not have live up to your standards of a human being but he has shown himself to be the better man because he lived the change in his life. He didn't merely talk about it. Do you hold Rush Limbaugh to this same standard? Of Gov. Sanford? How about DeLay, Ney, Foley, or Craig? There are many more on both sides who have fallen short but I focus on those because you seem to want to deny the ills of your own party while drawing attention to the other.

Your President (like it or not) said it best:

"This spirit of resilience and good humor would see Ted Kennedy through more pain and tragedy than most of us will ever know. He lost two siblings by the age of sixteen. He saw two more taken violently from the country that loved them. He said goodbye to his beloved sister, Eunice, in the final days of his own life. He narrowly survived a plane crash, watched two children struggle with cancer, buried three nephews, and experienced personal failings and setbacks in the most public way possible.

It is a string of events that would have broken a lesser man. And it would have been easy for Teddy to let himself become bitter and hardened; to surrender to self-pity and regret; to retreat from public life and live out his years in peaceful quiet. No one would have blamed him for that.

But that was not Ted Kennedy. As he told us, "...[I]ndividual faults and frailties are no excuse to give in - and no exemption from the common obligation to give of ourselves.""

Maligning a dead man or woman is unnecessary but it also shows a cowardice and disconnect with your own humanity. You do not injure the deceased. The dead know nothing. It is the family you injure. It is those who admire a man like Ted Kennedy who in spite of his personal demons championed the cause of those less fortunate than he. How many people of his birth and station in life can say the same?

I witnessed on Saturday two lonely protesters two blocks away from the Mission church carrying signs that showed their hatred more than it demonstrated their opposition to Ted Kennedy's work. mr.r(acist) is clearly of like mind.

i can't help but note the irony of the Field Negro praising Massa Ted; and its taken to an even more absurd level with Malcolm X's photo on the same page.

Anyone vaguely familiar with brother Malcolm knows he was no fan of the kennedy's. especially Pres. Kennedy.

Did you know that Massa Ted voted for the racist crack cocaine laws sponsored by his pal Tip O'neal? Massa Ted wanted to raise the minimum wage to help the poor. Yea, after supporting NAFTA/GATT and other bills that sent good paying jobs abroad.

Teddy's friendship & support of Obama reminds me of a quote from brother Malcolm; "when you see whites telling you how great some black politican or leader is, its someone they control."

And based on Obama actions on iraq, afghanistan, pakistan, the bail outs, healthcare, etc., Malcolm was on point.

Nope, FN has never had a bad day in his life. My first bad day will be the one that I don't live to see.

As for Novak, I am not taking anything back that I said about him. Kennedy did some bad things in his life (see the comments above, for instance) but the good he did outweighed the bad. I can't say that about Novak. He was a terrible human being. I know I know, bad field Negro speaking ill of the dead, but hey it's how I feel.

Revisionist history is never good. You don't know who Malcolm X would have supported for president if he were alive today. You sound like those republicans who say that King was a conservative and would have supported republicans if he were alive.

On the other hand, is it rape when the white girl gets a hold of some Negro dick, and either ends up regretting it in the morning or finds Daddy not-so-approving of Negro meat parting her pink seas?

Hmmm...it must be an epidemic on the rightwing side not to be able to think for themselves. Anyone that desparate to take the advice of a dope fiend and hang on their every word as the gospel is really hitting the bottom of the barrel. if ameriKKKa wasn't trying to steal resources all over the world: africa, middle east, latin america, etc., 9/11 would not have happened.

    their choice of targets speaks for itself, the World Trade Center, where the economic raping of their countries is coordinated;

in other words , they're over here, because we're over there.

the terrorists don't give a damn about us; we don't have any power in this country, including shuffling & grinning Oreo-bama; he's just a sock puppet for corporate america.

No matter the US foreign policy, the world trace centre killed 3000 innocent civillians. there is no excuse or plausible reason for that. people will always find supposed justifications to kill and murder other people if they look hard enough. none of these reasons stand morally. However I agree with you about US policy, and its definately added fuel to the fire of terrorism. However blaming 9/11 solely on American policy is oversimplifing the phenomenon.. there are many other factors at play too.

every president is a sock puppet for corporate america. there's nothing new about that. bush was a puppet too. when you have to raise hundreds of millions of dollars just to run an election campaign, and when you have no choice but to rely on huge corporations and lobby groups to support you, obviously your hands will be tied. but atleast obamas victory was a few steps in a better direction. He was the best available candidate, and his election is symbolically historic for african americans; but noone was naive enough to think he would change the entire system.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous6:56 AM

    @coffee and cigarettes

the world trade center employees were not innocent civilians; they were legitimate targets.

they were the overseers of the americian empires economic raping of foreign countries.

are the employees in american defense companies who make fighter planes, bombs, etc., innocent civilians?

sadly, there was some "colleteral damage" in the form of darker skinned custodians, food service, etc

we agree that "every president is a sock puppet for corporate america."

we disagree about celebrating having the 1st black one or mourning the passing of his mentor.

Barack Obama is less of a person than an image a brand. People see whatever they want, as they do on a Rorschach test. But does anyone really know him?

    In fact, he is:

    Ø An empty suit.

Ø A man with no birth certificate.
A man who was deserted in childhood by his biological father.

Ø A man whose birth records, both in the United States and Kenya, are sealed by government order.

Ø A man whose childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, spied on U.S. military installations in Hawaii for the Soviet Union, edited a communist newspaper, authored pornographic novels, and wrote poetry in praise of Joseph Stalin.

Ø A man mentored by and still supported by radical Muslims.

Ø A man who promised transparency in government, but has spent over a million dollars in legal fees hiding information that would determine his eligibility to be President.

    Ø A former drug user.

Ø A man whose academic records are sealed from kindergarten through law school.

Ø A man who arrived in New York in June of 1981 without enough money to get a hotel room, but one month later flew to Indonesia and Pakistan.

Ø A man who traveled to Pakistan when it was illegal for U.S. citizens to do so. So what country’s passport did he use?

    Ø Why did he go?

    Ø Who paid his expenses?

Ø A man whose Law School Admission Test scores and grades at Columbia University are known to have been mediocre, but was admitted to Harvard Law School through the intervention of a Saudi named Khalid al-Mansour.

Ø A law review editor who never published an article in any law review.

Ø A lawyer with no significant accomplishments in the law and no reputation in the legal community.
