Hey do fries go with that finger? See wingnuts, this is what you get when you try to give his O ness your finger, you lose it. Yep seems that these health care debates are getting rather heated. Those damn Obamaholics are finally coming out to stand by their man. What were you wingnuts thinking? Did you really think that you were the only ones who were going to come out swinging...or should I say biting at these debates? There is passion on both sides.
But it's nice to see that you wingnuts are fighting back . -There is nothing like a vibrant political debate- I bet poor Luis Perrero didn't know what hit him.
"I'm amazed at the way this has become such a politicized issue,'' Perrero said as he sat on the ground holding his jaw. ``It shows that people who are against the public option will resort to anything -- including battery on a senior citizen -- to prevent healthcare reform.''
Oh come on Luis; man up. You took one for the home team. I know you are 65 but we need every able bodied man and woman out there fighting these wingnuts.
Still, in spite of Luis doing like Sony Liston, this round goes to the Obamacare folks.
"The Obamacare supporter, who was on the side of the street with other supporters, came across the street toward the anti-Obamacare crowd and singled out an elderly man and proceeded to “get in his face” about his views. The Obamacare supporter then pulled the old man out into the street, unprovoked I might add, and then bit the old guys finger off while the old guy was just trying to get away. The old man then shuffled off toward a hospital.
I then went out into the street and found the old man’s finger. We called 911 and the dispatcher gave them the location to the nearest hospital which she said would be their best bet for finding the man. They rushed over and were able to find the old man and provide him with his finger. I went back to the scene to wait for police and gave the police the entire account and they tried to find the attacker amongst the Obamacare supports, but he had fled by then." [From Beetle Blogger]

Boy wingnuts really are dumb. If someone went Mike Tyson on my finger I guarantee you that I wouldn't be "shuffling" to the hospital. Nope, I would be doing my best Usain Bolt imitation. And here is the irony: seems the old wingnut is covered by Medicare. So, in essence, the very kind of program that he is protesting against is what paid for his medical treatment in the first place. But don't worry for the old guy. All is well that ends well, because it seems that they were able to find his finger. I sure hope they can reattach it for him. He is going to need that finger to give the Socialist president in the beige house a proper salute.
Here we go.
ReplyDeleteField,
ReplyDeleteThe man's finger could NOT be re-attached due to the fact a human bite is worse than a dog bite according to the short video from the Cavuto show on Fox. The guy was there with his bandaged hand telling the whole story.
I also watch Fox to see how they spin the story.
Aloha from Makaii
I am continually astonished that those who are protesting health care reform most vigorously are those who would benefit most from health care reform.
ReplyDeleteGregory are you paying attention! this is not about the HEALTH CARE BILL! most of these people are POOR! Look at he people who are Protesting! then look at the President!!!
ReplyDeletePresident Obama did not make them poor. However, our ex-President Bush and his administration made a lot of people poor with their tickle down economics. BTW, yeah, the President is a nice looking president to look at isn't he.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you are right, it is not about the Health care bill, it's about the color of the President's skin. He didn't take after his color after his mother.
ReplyDeletewell it could have been worse. Somebody ought hand those rabid reich wingers a book on pablo escobar and take a page out of it as an example when the left gets fed up with the ruling right wing class...
ReplyDeleteI understand there was a protest going on but I happen to have a soft spot for old folks...that's messed up!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Go
There's a different story to be told here. The guy whose finger was bitten off admitted that he punched the finger-eater in the mouth. Hey wingnuts, punch me in the mouth and I'll bite it off too.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the guy who's finger was bitten off had his bill paid by Medicare.
Part I
ReplyDeleteFrom day one, Rush Limbaugh threw down the gauntlet, and drew a line in the sand.
In Limbaugh's own words: "I do not want the government in charge of all of these things ['from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care']. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, 'Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.' (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, 'Oh, you can't do that.' Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: 'Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.' Somebody's gotta say it."
I included more of Limbaugh's remarks than I wished, but I though it important to put his statement ("I Hope Obama Fails.") in context.
The point: It didn't really matter what President Obama and the Democrats set out to do, they were going to meet resistance.
Why?
Republicans want President Obama to fail. It's their stated goal, and their cause célèbre.
Rush Limbaugh's declaration was the first shot across the bow (others would follow), alerting President Obama that bi-partisanship was dead on arrival, and that republicans would do all in their power to sink the ship of state under his captaincy, and take him down with the ship.
Limbaugh's assertion that it was liberalism that brought us dangerously close to the precipice (our imminent economic collapse, is my guess), is disingenuous and self-serving.
I wouldn't carp were it not that many folks are buying this garbage.
It wasn't liberalism that threatened to sink the ship of state, but laissez faire economics, a conservative's wet dream.
Bush administration's hands-off, non-interference policy is what led to our economy's near meltdown.
"[T]he Bush administration's failure may be one of omission rather than commission – the failure of regulators to decide that they need to act to slow the flood of loose credit. Also, as investment banks created more and more complicated financial products, regulators fell behind in simply keeping tabs on it all." CSM
And if the excrement stinks, blame the other fellow, especially if the other fellow is a democrat, and a liberal.
What better way to survive the foul odor than to stand up stream, while those down stream are deluged with the stench, even as they're blamed for it.
On Wednesday of next week, President Obama will address a joint session of congress and the American people.
It's my hope that President Obama will craft a speech that states the failure of bi-partisanship in the healthcare debate, and launch a renewed effort to go it alone.
He will have fulfilled one of this campaign pledges to work cooperatively with the opposition.
But you can't work cooperatively with a hungry lion eager to have you for supper--with you as the main course.
President Obama needs to jettison the notion that the opposition is willing to work in good faith on healthcare, and fulfill another of his campaign pledges--to provide healthcare for all, while reining in explosive healthcare costs.
Should he persist in believing that bi-partisanship is still viable, to that extent will he expose his soft underbelly.
Black Diaspora, you're right, but unfortunately you're late. You know, we all wanted to give Obama some room to establish himself and his style, but the man gotted rolled.
ReplyDeleteI really don't blame the Republicans. I blame the Democrats, starting with Obama himself. They are afraid of their own shadows. They had an electoral mandate for a Democratic president, 75% support for a public option, 258 House seats, and 60 Senate seats. And they blew it.
The only place for Democrats to complain is right smack in front of the nearest goddamn mirror. Whining about Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh is bullshit.
Part II
ReplyDeleteAnd if republicans win on the healthcare reform front, the president will become a paper tiger.
The likes of ex-president Bill Clinton has warned against failure--that it's not an option.
And without real healthcare reform--a public option at the least--reform will have failed. Insurance companies will still be free to drive up healthcare costs until only those in single-payer health plans (Medicare, and the military) will have access to quality healthcare, if the costs are not too prohibitive even for them.
If republicans win, they will be emboldened, and will stop at nothing, even violence, to advance their own agenda at the expense of the American people.
If liberalism becomes a dirty word, yoked, and intertwined with those dreaded words, socialism and communism, then liberal agendas will be set back a decade or two.
And we can't allow that.
Rush Limbaugh and his ilk want nothing less than full control over the government.
And we can't allow that.
Glenn Beck and company want nothing less than all of us marching to their beat with the Republican party setting the cadence.
And we can't allow that.
Jesse Lee Peterson, Michael Steele, and a assortment of characters--pastors praying for President Obama's painful death, black conservatives, and republicans no-holds-barred attacks, pundits just stopping short of calling for President Obama's death, and civil war--are counting on him losing, too.
And we can't allow that.
I say get involved, and stay involved--and let our congressional representatives know that failure, this time, is not an option, that healthcare reform without a public option is not the healthcare reform we signed on for.
If we let failure win this time around, Rush Limbaugh's words, "I hope Obama fail," will spell our failure as well.
Conservatism is as much our enemy as liberalism is Rush's enemy.
He's hoping we fail, because if liberalism fails, those who're backing conservatism and its idealogical assault on the American people, by elevating the amassing of wealth for the few above the welfare of the many, will have won.
And, as you already know, republicans don't play fair. They fought Medicare years ago as a socialist plot, and a threat to our freedom, and they're doing it again.
The goal and the tactics haven't changed, but the faces and the voices have: "I hope liberalism fails."
We can't allow that!
Oops, "got rolled."
ReplyDeleteSomething's going on with the face-punchers. The face-puncher in Cali who got his finger bit off for his punching is not telling the truth. Why else would he not say why he was there or what his views on health care reform are? I wonder if this is like the guns when one wingnut suggested online that they start taking guns to town halls and sure enough several wingnuts followed.
ReplyDelete--j
Oh and grinder I totally agree that Obama's getting rolled. He needs to stand up. I think even standing up and failing could save him but either failure outright while caving or a gimped bill that passes kills him in the midterms.
ReplyDeleteWe're not fools and right now Obama isn't standing up for us. He may be "too nice" or selling us down the river or committed naively to bipartisanship or whatnot -- I don't know the 'whats' or 'whys' and I don't think it much matters in practical terms. What matters is he's not fighting for us when virtually every single one of us, from hard line Obama partisans that knew him as their Illinois Senator to Hillary supporting post-primary converts who voted for him in the general, have fought for him and given him a clear mandate on health reform.
--j
Damn! I agree with grinder AND BD. How is that possible? But yeah, this is war as far as I am concerened. And I have a soft spot for the elderly as well, (even wingnut old people)but that man in California...well, let's just say that he might want to wear gloves to his next town hall protest.
ReplyDelete--j thanks for that field Negro of the day suggestion, your boy is up there.
ReplyDelete@field -- Don't mention it. Good to see him up there. :)
ReplyDelete--j
I'm all for Obama and health care reform, but please don't bite other peoples' fingers off, people. Seriously.

ReplyDelete
I also watch Fox to see how they spin the story.
ReplyDeleteThis is the pot calling the asphalt street "darkie".
I can't believe that someone would come to Filled Negro's blog and accuse another entity of SPIN.
My friend Filled Negro spins so much that he rents his backside out on the weekends as a "tunnel boring machine".
Can you imagine if a pro-Government Confiscator was the one who suffered the bit finger? Keith Olbermann would bronze the lost digit and mount it on his set for a daily vigil
Field, you catch the end of the Oregon/Boise St game last night?? Home Boy from Oregon got dragged off the field by 4 I-da-Hoe Cops, just for bitch slappin some Boise player with a Skin Head haircut...

Well, for me, it is time to take a moment and breathe. I am feeling like this is pulling all into a down-word spiral of negativity. All of us. And I know in the depth of my being that change cannot come from this place. Good things do not come from this place. Destruction of the soul comes from this place.
So, I am out. I will be spending a little time renewing my energies in places of beauty, kindness, and love.
Make no mistake. I am NOT giving up working for what I believe in. I just need to go where I can remember that as humans, our deepest desire is to love and be loved and to make a difference while we are visiting the planet.
I hope that each of you will enjoy a little beauty and laughter in your world today. Peace.

ReplyDeletemedicaid, medicare, and va hospitals are indeed perfect examples of why we "wingnuts" are the wise ones!
obamacare is a sham(a casino/stimulus pkg for medical corps) that will DEGRADE all medical care for all patients, even those of us privately insured!!!
see more:
Insurers today compete by denying care, choosing healthy customers, not the sick, shifting costs onto patients, and lobbying for public subsidies and industry-friendly legislation. "Decades of experience (have shown) that private insurers cannot control costs or provide families with the coverage they need." They're the bane of the system, not the solution, and government-run clones won't fix the problems because no effort will be made to try.
Obama wants to ration health care by instituting a "global payments" system in place of the current fee-for-service one that reimburses for each visit or procedure. It assures expensive services would be limited or denied, outpatient treatment and drugs will substitute for many surgeries, and full coverage will only be available for higher fees or expensive supplemental insurance premiums.
Obamacare is reactionary and class-based. It's industry-friendly at the expense of real reform. It assures affluent households top-flight care, others only as much as they can afford, and imposes fines on people too poor to buy coverage, so whatever plan is imposed on them will be inadequate when they need it most because current ones are designed to fail. It subordinates an essential needs to bottom-line considerations and leaves a broken system in place.
Obamacare is to health care reform what No Child Left Behind is to educating the nation's youths in for-profit schools; what Operation Iraqi Freedom is to liberating an occupied people; what Operation Enduring Freedom is to bringing democracy to Afghanistan; and what the Global War on Terror is to peace and good will.
It's a scheme to ration health care, enrich corporate providers, and leave a broken system in place. It's a patchwork idea to repackage failure and claim success. It's a corrupted way to sacrifice real needs on the alter of marketplace medicine by doing too little and leaving growing millions out in the cold, on their own, and at the mercy of for-profit predators. The solution is everybody in, nobody out under a universal, single-payer system. It's time has come, and no one should accept anything less or politicians who won't provide it.

ReplyDeleteThe moral of this story: Learn how to make a good fist before you punch someone in the face. You may expose a finger or two if you don't.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:14, if someone punches me in the face they'll be lucky thats all they get. Glad to see someone fighting back for a change.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed in Obama for staying above the fray. If he goes for anything excluding the public option it will be a failure for him. He loses all of his political capital. People may have forgiving hearts but no one respects weakness. There is nothing to be gained in compromising with those who's only goal is to see you fail. It will be interesting to see how he balances this act. I'm hoping for the best for him, and all of us.
Hmmmm, notice how all of the usual trolls have shown up almost back to back.

So, using your logic?, It's safe to say that in order for him to be "reverse racist", the reciever of said "reverse racism" had to be racist first, otherwise how can someone practice "reverse racism"?

Yes,! and I believe that the finger biting is some type of charade to add credence to the wingnuts, and also, I think that the intent was to keep moveon.org from gaining any momentum, as they have been on healthcare.
Glen Beck would like his audience to believe that the typical anti-health care town hall person is some old, white person on medicaid, but what they don't say is that moveon.org has plenty of older white people on medicaid who are rooting for the bill to pass, the health care rally I went to on Wednesday was mostly older, white people, some in wheelchairs, some with stories to share, and believe me, many of these old white people are fed up, with Beck, Fox News, and a lot more too, also, we were instructed NOT to engage with any opposition, so I really don't believe this story about some man getting his finger bit off, and lo and behold, the person who bit his finger off is no where to be found?
45 percent of white voters, voted for Obama, 45 percent of white voters voted for change, and the right wing thugs would like people to forget about that.

ReplyDelete"BD, may I borrow your words?

Yes.
But note: I've called for action, not surrender.
The president is only 1/2 of the equation. The other half is congress.
And if the people in those congressional districts with foot-dragging representatives don't bombard them with mail, e-mail, faxes, or what have you--demanding support for a public option--then it's going to fail, President Obama notwithstanding.
And don't forget senators from each state. It's crucial that they're onboard as well.

my fav black neocon is joseph c phillips at eur

his new column is 90% on pt re obamacare:
ie
"So the cause of our national distress is the private health insurance industry, which no doubt explains why A) Obama has made back room deals with the insurance and pharmaceutical industries and B) why the bill making its way through the House of Representatives devotes exactly 6 of its more than 1000 pages to insurance reform.
A recent study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that about half of the increase in health expenditures nationwide since 1965 was caused by the creation of Medicare and Medicaid. Why? One reason is that under the government programs prices are not the result of contracts between providers and patients. Instead, prices are set between providers and the U.S. Government. In practice, this means the U.S. government says what's covered and what the price is (regardless of the actual cost), and providers and patients have no choice in the matter.
Worse, since patients do not negotiate price, they don't care what the price is and have no incentive to seek out a provider with a lower one. On the other hand, they have every incentive to take health risks they couldn't otherwise afford and use services they might not otherwise be willing to pay for.
There is a similar incentive for providers to charge for things covered by Medicare and Medicaid and do those things as rapidly as possible, whether or not that is what the art of medicine indicates would be the best treatment. So price – the most effective way to allocate scarce resources - isn't determined by negotiation but rather by politics, (as has already been demonstrated by Obama’s back room deals) which invariably leads to shortages and rationing.
And what of the huge cost savings that Obama promises will magically appear under reform with the same perverse incentives?
According to the National Center for Policy Analysis, “Medicare's total unfunded liability is more than five times larger than that of Social Security.” In fact, the new Medicare prescription drug benefit enacted in 2006 (Part D) has proven to be twice as much as the original congressional budget office estimates and alone adds some $17 trillion to the projected Medicare shortfall - an amount greater than all of Social Security's unfunded obligations.” The liability for Medicaid is off the charts because unlike Medicare Medicaid has no “trust fund” but is paid for by the states with matching grants from the fed. I can’t speak for you, but I am overflowing with confidence that a government takeover of healthcare is just the ticket to solve our fiscal problems.
e, but it ain’t reform.

Gregory, I think I need to explain my comment better!
ReplyDeleteFirst we have a African American President, take note that, the Majority of the Protester's are White, so we have Poor White folk's that want the President to Fail, Fail, and then Fail again! as I stated before, this is not about the Health Care Bill!!! poor white's are known to fight against their own best interest! they have a Black man fighting in their behalf and they don't want his help!!!they want him to FAIL!
Now, when the Bill pass's, (I speak in present tense)this is to let Grinder know that, I take heed to each and every word he write's! Grinder you have said many a time's that, the Health Care Bill will not pass! UMP! I wonder who you truly are!
The President either, under estimated the depth of Racism in this country, or he is allowing the Rep/Con to define who they Truly are day by day! I think he is a very Shrewd man! I think he will not allow his Adversary's to win no matter what! I think he has a plan!!! so I will sit back and watch it unfold!!!
iseeisee
if poor whites dare to protest actual wrongdoing by a man who happens to be half black...
ReplyDeleteand black people pretend those same wrongs are OK simply because the wrongdoer is half black
who are the real racists???
ps: MILLIONS of poor blacks like me agree with every white town haller/tea partier/birther etc...
and millions of rich whites will stay on obama's side as they reap trillions via his wrongdoings
class is the new race in america
there is only one corp political party
NOTHING, including obamacare, will ever be resolved until the rainbow people rebel against the rainbow elites!!!
AB Once again you are dead on.
ReplyDeleteThanks BD. I've written to my Rep and both Senators in the past, but as you say, we need to keep on them. Like you, I have insurance. But I look at the original bills, not just the part I have to pay, and am appalled. Over $20,000 for an out-patient procedure that is considered fairly routine. How could anyone pay these kinds of fees without assistance? It's obscene.

"like might friend did only to find out she had to have her second leg taken off, let the government decide ?"
ReplyDeleteAnd what if she has no private insurance like lots of Americans (or can't even afford the 30%-60% co-pay even if she has insurance, like lots of other Americans). How much of a decision will she have then?
I'm just trying to understand both sides, but I didn't understand the reasoning behind that particular example.
AB, "and black people pretend those same wrongs are OK simply because the wrongdoer is half black
ReplyDeletewho are the real racists???"
as usual, you look at doing the right thing. That takes moral potency...something America is short on. Of course, capitalism and democracy still have yet to prove they belong together, i.e., they are not oil and water.
Poor, white people want the President to Fail !Poor white people could give a rats ass about all of that ! The word is poor, you know the guy thats working next to you thats not making either.I have insurance also but if I loose it and have to go to the hospital,I will still get the same service. With government care first they are going to check your bank records, then your assets, than work on you,So you still don't have insurance you go back to the hospital, the government checks your bank, your assets,Hmm the governments say's. this mother costing us,whats his value, how much more money do we want to put into him.If any. They put a color dot on your toe for your value of care. Just don't freak out when they put the clarence sale on you. Cause just like the junk yard, your gonna be sold for parts!
ReplyDeleteghetto white boy,
ReplyDeleteEverybody talking about the loss of liberty, while your credit score is being check with you job application. You are also asked to pee a cup and have three vials of blood drawn. Just what the hell do you think that is for, drugs? Unless you are an Pilot or something the company doesn't give a shit, they want to know if you have any preconditions and smoke. DNA test are getting cheaper and machines can detect if you have smoked marijuana with in a year. This will determine if they would give you health coverage and whether you will get the job. Who knows whats your credit score is used for, but that may also be connected in their health care calculations.
You will not have an unalienable right to work? Will your liberty not be abridged then? Or perhaps you think the right to work is not a right.
"I have insurance also but if I loose it and have to go to the hospital,I will still get the same service."
ReplyDeleteWho says? Not in every hospital, I bet you. Then again you're a poor white boy who still have the privileged mindset. And even so, how will you pay the $300K plus hospital bill?
There goes your credit, your home, and your other assets. So much for freedom and a peace of mind.

ReplyDeletemost of what you say is for work. You will get these tests anyway.the 300,000. bill your going to get anyway, maybe its dropped to 200,000. whos going to pay it no matter which price ?Ezekiel Emanuel .Emanuel, however, believes that 'communitarianism' should guide decisions on who gets care. He says medical care should be reserved for the nondisabled, not given to those 'who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens. . . . An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.' (Hastings Center Report, Nov.-Dec. '96).
"Translation: Don't give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy." better stay healthy on that good government healthcare.

The Cass Corridor in Detroit was riddled with drug addicts, prostitutes and crime of every imaginable type. It was where you landed when you had absolutely hit rock bottom in your addiction. The whores working the Cass were the ones who couldn't pass muster during the day, so deep were the ravages of their addictions. Heroin was the drug of choice, called "mixed jive" in the neighborhood, since it was stepped on so much, the percentage of heroin was in question.
Thats where my privileged white ass came from! When I was a baby I took that silver spoon out of my ass and went up to the pawn shop so I could eat.
Medicare for all ages would be a big improvement over my health playing second fiddle to the bottom line of a corporation. This country is the least civilized of all the industrial nations. Seems like it wants to become less so.
ReplyDeleteghetto white boy,
ReplyDeleteSo you won't think you responded to my comment. You didn't.
@CF: "Can you imagine if a pro-Government Confiscator was the one who suffered the bit finger? Keith Olbermann would bronze the lost digit and mount it on his set for a daily vigil."
ReplyDeleteCF, you're beginning to sound a lot like Drackman, and MRR.
And they're some sick puppies! I take that back: that statement is an insult to puppies.
Kathy "ab, what is single payer?

ReplyDeleteSorry I thought I did.Let me try again.Your right.all of those things affect your getting insurance and how much you will have to pay. They also will affect you getting a job.My wife filed bankruptcy and has been turn down
for employment.your right the insurance companies have us by the ass.I fight them all the time. When I lived in Detroit if your doctor gave you a prescription the insurance didn't fight the doctors like they do here in PA.The insurance company here wanted me to read 4 books!Your right we have to do something about insurance.I guess what I was trying to say is if you go to the hospital they have to take care of you whether you have insurance or not. Some hospitals might say they don't handle that and send you to a different one.The Indians have government healthcare, their saying is don't get sick after june, because the program has run out of money. This fool Emanuel wants to base your health care on your value to society.whats your output not thats your human. In Oregon a woman had cancer.the state run healthcare would not pay for her cancer treatment, but would pay for the shot to off herself.Your going to have to pee in that cup for the government also.they are going to play with you DNA also. Now that scares the hell out of me. I might have the dumb DNA. I'm I going to get a glass of water and told I need to drink it all, only to find out they sterilized me ? It wouldn't be the first time The governments done it.They did it in Indiana in the 1920's.As for freedom,do we really have it,not really, But talk to the men who were drafted in WW11,Vietnam,Iraq.Ask them what they have seen. A woman getting 40 lashes for having a beer?My Islam friends forgive me but a berka?A blanket with a screen, cmon!

I knew what you meant by privileged,That's just wacked what can I say.
Shabazz, one thing applies to the comment section of this blog:
ReplyDelete"Never argue with an idiot. The idiot will drag you down to his level and then beat you with his experience."
Medicare for all ages would be a big improvement over my health playing second fiddle to the bottom line of a corporation. This country is the least civilized of all the industrial nations. Seems like it wants to become less so.
ReplyDeleteSome years back (early in this decade), I was talking to a good friend of mine in the investment business. I told him that I thought the U.S. was turning into a Latin American banana republic. It would take several decades, I said, because it takes time to ruin a country as strong as this one, but that I thought all the elements were there.
I am sadden to say that this was one of my better predictions, along with having called the current depression and its trigger, the residential real estate collapse, which will soon be followed by a commercial real estate collapse.
If you stand back and look at it in those terms, Obama's presidency is part of the pattern. It's a little reminiscent of the the first big-city black mayors who were elected amid much cheering and hope. Now we have Detroit, and Newark, and Baltimore, etc., not much different than Latin American cities, abandoned by the real powers.
Next on the plate is the federal government, which is hurtling toward bankruptcy and collapse. This is not Obama's fault. Hell, he's been in there for what, eight months? You don't ruin the U.S. government in eight months. This was LONG underway. Reagan started in on it in the 1980s, but it was interrupted by Clinton, and reinstated by Bush Jr.
Meanwhile, civic life in America hurtles ever downward. People can't discuss the major issues, and governments can't handle them. High culture withers. Jazz turned to hip-hop, news to entertainment, entertainment to porn, sports to violence.
We're in much worse shape than we realize.

ReplyDeleteReally? Well now that leaves 60% that didn't vote for him because he is black. So, what do you want, a cookie?
