Blame it on Obama.

*
I see that another passenger decided to act the fool on an international flight and messed with our collective psyche again. That's not good.

Of course, once again, we can rely on our friends in the rethuglican party and their propaganda arm over at FAKE NEWS to blame this latest terror scare on his O ness. ArtMagott's picture* is meant to be a joke, but to some folks on the right it' not funny; it's fact.
"Rep. Pete Hoekstra told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday that it is "fair" to hold the Obama administration responsible for the a failure to detect an attempted terror attack. Friday, Hoekstra told the Detroit Free Press that the Obama administration needed to "connect the dots."

"You were quoted in the Detroit Free Press this morning as saying that, you know, the key is to connect the dots and maybe the Obama administration will now realize that. Is it really fair to hold the Obama administration responsible here?" asked Wallace.

"Yeah, I think it really is," replied Hoekstra. "Connecting the dots here is not really on this particular case. It's connecting the dots that we've seen over the last 11 months, over the last eight years." [story]

Hoekstra now joins a long line of winguts with their heads up their asses.

And while we are talking about wingnuts and their Obama derangement syndrome, let's not forget about Peter King, who declared that what Obama did by not holding a press conference after this latest threat, is the equivalent to what the frat boy did after Katrina. Yes, he said it.

KATRINA! People died and a great A-merry-can city was almost lost. Yet he compares it to an almost tragic event in Detroit. Almost tragic event.

The next three years should be interesting.

  2. The absurd criticisms of Obama are never going to stop. And they are going to attempt to merge with the legitimate criticisms of Obama. That's what I find to be the most infuriating about the use of his approval rating. People seem to think that it went down because the rest of the States is finally starting to realize what Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh knew all along: brown people can't be trusted.

I, and others like me, are dissatisfied with Obama for other reasons. His buckling to absurd criticisms from the right, his feigned spat with Israel that produced no results, firing Van Jones, refusing to acknowledge issues of race, and giving wall street everything it wants and more.

The right and their supporters know that the use of code words with regards to Obama's "manliness" and intelligence are going to roll around in the minds of all the angry working class people they pretend to support. I would say that most of these people don't criticize Obama about these things because they think they're important, but because they know the uneducated and misinformed masses are going to be the most susceptible to certain images and phrases.

  3. Now, Field, you're right about the first guy. I'm not going to be flying for a long time until they get rid of these ridiculous "safety" measures. No books or newspapers or anything else in your lap the last hour of the flight. What stupidity. Do they think that another incident is only going to happen in the last hour?

And the second guy was innocent. He was a legitimate Nigerian businessman who happened to be sick (I'm thinking diarrhea since he was in the bathroom for so long) and was unwilling to return to his seat so they forcibly returned him to the plane.

So, are you willing to take a transatlantic flight (that's how I get to and from my peeps in the US) without being able to use the restroom for the last hour or read a book or newspaper or use your I Pod or other electronic devices the duration of the trip? From Paris to Seattle is 10 hours!

Nope, I'll be looking for another means of transportation or will just forget about seeing my family - they'll have to visit me!

Yes, the next few years will be interesting to say the least. I have a question why bother watching Fox News when you know they are going blame the President for the attempted terrorist attack. I asked my father that question the other day because he does not like the channel and venturing a guess that more people who dislike Fox News watch more than who actually believe everything FN does and says. I would not waste my time adding to their ratings.

  5. Ok, I need to read up on this some more, but didn't the flight originate in Amsterdam? So isn't a large part of the onus on the Dutch? Plus his Dad had informed the authorities that he was behaving erratically and was suspect but some how he was able to fly from somewhere in Africa to Amerstdam even though the Brits won't let him in. So why haven't I heard anyone talking about Dutch security. ANd if we aren't allowed to read or listen to our own tunes for the last hour of the flight, people will go crazy. I think the airlines all better get XM or Sirus (and make sure they can access the satellites everywhere) and give out free headphones to keep folk from losing their minds. First water, now this. If I could get my hands on that dude for 5 minutes....

  6. No man can please everyone all the time. Impossible. There will be continued blame on President Obama, but so what! There are some people out there that feel there lives are better now because of some action he has/ or has not taken. Is he perfect? No! Accept it and move on. All this bickering, finger pointing and in some cases hatred, changes nothing- it just makes some people feel better because they can blame another for why they are how they are, and for why they can't be what they want to be.

  7. I do think that Obama should have held a press conference Friday or at the latest Saturday about this incident just to show his face instead of allowing the press to report that he was playing basketball with some of his staff.

Now the Republicans are filling the void left by Obama and his administration not responding to the issue with at least some official 'the investigation is ongoing' instead of seeming aloof and not taking terrorism seriously.

  16. @LisaMJ - both flights did originate in Amsterdam but he was on an American watch list. What more did they need to know? He was missing, possibly in Yemen and was talking badly about the US and extremely religious (Islamic fundamentalists are like all other religious fundamentalists - not to be trusted).

But I've flown through several European (and American) airports and I can attest that Schiphol Airport (whose security services may or not be Israeli-owned) ask the best questions and pay closer attention to you, your companions and your answers than any other airport.

But these new rules, especially with the charge for the 2nd checked bag, are going to mean real headaches for the airlines.

Airline security experts say the only way to ensure security is to have full body screening and search through people's baggage with them there.

The right-wing ragging on Obama will continue and I don't have time to respond to it - my motto for such things is FIDO - Forget It Drive On! Of course, you can substitute forget for something saltier.

  17. Filled Negro:

Do you mind if I show yourself - to yourself?

The difference between YOUR disposition as we have migrated between evil Bush and good guy Obama is that with evil Bush YOU would have taken the same Photoshop picture of Bush and used it as a METAPHOR for what you believed in the way of criticism of him.

In the case of Barack Obama - you see this picture and take OFFENSE. If not RACISM because the would-be bomber is a Black Nigerian then you REFUSE to accept the STRETCH regarding how the Obama Admin is to blame.

Had Bush still been in office (Or McCain) then the Filled Negro slant on the Nigerian Human Explosive would be "SEE - THEY still hate us and with McCain's choice to ramp up Afghanistan they merely found a 'black face' to strike us and let us know how it feels to be attacked. Maybe President McCain will now see how it feels to have a 20 ton bomb land on his village".

I struggle to understand IF Filled Negro can sufficiently distance himself and his emotional attachment to the Obama Administration to see:

    1) The SIMILARITIES in the execution of military actions on various fronts (ie: Yemen and Afghanistan) - Just as A. Banks has been calling out

    2) How your interpretation of events differ ONLY because your agenda is fused to Obama but is a mission AGAINST "Bush-Forces" rather than FOR Black Community Development despite your claims to the contrary.

If your goal WAS "Black Community Development" we would see more original muckraking against those forces that actually are RUNNING our communities (See the Philly Inquirer expose' on crime & justice. You had to point to Jody's submission of the articles because YOU DID NOT do so. It proved too much of an indictment against the Defense Attorneys that are a part of the "justice DENIED" process in the city.)

    Polymath:

I am not sure if you are Black - but it really doesn't matter in any event.

BY FAR the biggest among of IDEOLOGICAL BIGOTRY in reference to Obama is the 90% APPROVAL rating that he has amongst Black people. NOT any criticism that you can troll up from Hannity, et al.

Whereas Hannity will attest to being a REPUBLICAN/CONSERVATIVE operative.......the Black Establishment and the "Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser" rank and file CLAIM to be advancing the BLACK PERMANENT INTERESTS in their political activism.

Barack Obama stands with a 90% APPROVAL RATING in the midst of a Black community that

    * Is VERTICALLY GOVERNED (local and federal - and in many states MI, IL, NY, MD, WI) by the MACHINE that Obama is attached to

    * Has a 16.3%+ unemployment rate for all Black males, most of whom live in the areas listed in the first point

    * Gross CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS are rendered but unaddressed WITHIN these same communities despite having favorable DA's, judges, police chiefs and mayors

Instead of you and other ideological bigots ALWAYS watching what the REPUBLICANS are doing......you NEED to be looking at how so many of your own PERMANENT INTERESTS are being undercut in places where Republicans couldn't even get elected as pond scum cleaners.

    * International Terrorism
    * DOMESTIC Terrorism as rendered by the Street Pirates
    * Economic Concerns that have been left with benign neglect

Even when Obama leaves office in 2013 - you STILL won't have most of these issues addressed. THEN, however you will be more inclined to BLAME the opposition President for what you are loathed to talk about today.

yes, it's time that we speak truth to power and say that Obama sure is weakening our defense. It's only a matter of time before a better conceived jihadist plan succeeds.

Plus, the Nigerian probably had read how the U.S. Attorney General dropped legal action against the New Black Panther trash that were committing voter intimidation in Phila. So he figured that in left wing fascist Amerika, blacks routinely get away with crimes just by claiming to be victims of imagined 'racism'. He's right, too, of course. Just look at any number of cases, like that of Jayson Williams - where right after the hung jury, a black racist woman juror shamelessly went in front of the cameras to declare that she stubbornly voted 'not guilty' in order to stand up for a brutha against whitey.

Yep, soon the NAACP will start talking about giving an Image Award to the Nigerian. There's no worse racist than a black racist.

  27. Obama is, unfortunately, carrying out bush's third term. He is expanding our wars.

Obama has not reviewed Bush's executive orders and canceled the unconstitutional ones like he said he would.

Obama has increased spending to ridiculous levels. The Chinese are not likely to keep lending Uncle Sam money.

Obama is continuing Bush's detention without cause and continues to suspend GOD GIVEN human RIGHTS from THOSE LABELED ENEMY COMBATANTS.

OBAMA HAS continued Bush's assault on all our rights by supporting continuation of the Patriot Act without allowing portions to sunset as planned.

In short Obama is a huge disappointment, a liar, and in general is no different from the previous imperial ruler of the USA.

NO WAY could regular working black folk get away with hiring a bunch of crooks and creeps in any Fortune 500 job. As a matter of fact, I believe the code is still you must be better than all of "them." Right now black children are being taught that blacks can rise, but at what cost? Must we be puppets to any bunch of white dudes that give us a Nobel Prize for peace (LMAO), an historical job, and uncritical media coverage? He bombed Yemen twice already in a space of two weeks to protect some US asset (we all know who that is). He should ahve gotten rid of the Federal Reserve (International Bankers) and let congress print its own money. I mean tell me why no working army, navy, airforce person is in charge of Homeland Security? Hell, General Honore (from Katrina fame) would have been a better choice for Homeland Security. A Federal Treasury person who doesn't pay his taxes and yet wants to up the ante for those who forget to do the same?

  33. @another scorpio. I don't exactly understand what you are directing at me or why you are asking "what else did they need to know" since I didn't ask what they needed to know. I asked why people are finger pointing at TSA and DHS when they didn't have jurisdiction over a Dutch airport? So what if the Dutch ask hard questions, in this instance they missed it and dropped the ball and for some reason all the dialouge is about what we did wrong. Unless the US starts putting TSA in foreign countries to screen passengers coming to the US, (which is probably illegal and fiscally and physically impossible) how can we be held accountable for what another country's security does or does not do?

    Rhalm Emanuel = BiPartisan? WHERE?

The truth is that Ernesto is still scarred by the fact that Emanuel was responsible for recruiting CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS to run in conservative districts and thus tip the balance in the US House toward Democratic control.

In his IDEOLOGICAL BIGOTRY he speaks of "bipartisanship" not as PARTY but as IDEOLOGY.

This is a bigger threat to Ernesto than is the near 100% DEMOCRATIC CONTROL from local to state to national that is the case in Chicago, Newark, Philly, Baltimore, Washington DC, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Cleveland and many, many other cities where the Black Permanent interests are being LYNCHED.

This is interesting but indicative of Ernesto's ideological bigotry.
He wills to PROTECT Obama against impeachment by surgically removing the "cancer" from the administration.

When it came to evil Bush the ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION needed to be deposed and put on trial.

Ernesto is a fraud. He conflates the DEMOCRATIC PARTY with "Black Community Permanent Interests". Despite the fact that my family members that reside in Philly have more of a threat from Street Pirates breaking into their house than I do with "White racists" in the South breaking into my house - he is mentally stimulated by the notion that it is ME who is sealing the fate of Black people rather than his own object bigotry and blindness.

I wonder why Chad, El Salvador or Indonesia doesn't simply VOTE itself into prosperity where as Ernesto fails to see how the EVIL CAPITALISTIC SYSTEM in America funds much of his socialist desires.

One thing is for sure - he will NEVER depart from the "Belly of the Beast". Instead he will always try to CHANGE it AND WILL desperately prevent the capitalists from getting too far from the reach of his ability to TAX them to fund his desired standard of living.

There are too many "double agents" who walk unfettered in this second domain, working unincumbered on behalf of their real masters. They need to be given VISITORS' passes and be required to have an escort whenever they speak inside of our nucleus about the great benefit that they will bring to the Negro. Upon the completion of their speech they will be escorted OUT and then the TRANSPARENT framework by which the Black community is newly governed by will openly discuss these claims, measuring them against what we have seen during the past interval when the double agent said the same damned thing".

Can you tell me what your agenda is filled Negro?

Sure the Dept. of Homeland Security is responsible for Umar being allowed to fly to the U.S. in the first place, therefore the Obama Administration is RESPONSIBLE. I sure as hell don't need Limbaugh or Beck to tell me this.

My disappointement with Obama is that he has installed a staff around him as if he is the dancing shadow of Bill Clinton. Clinton in my estimation is far from being an example of the best Administration to sit in the White House. Poor choice Barack, bad choices Barack. My hope was that Barack would reach out to the academic community to look for the most creative minds to surround himself with through the course of his administration. So far I only see one individual (out the massive crowd of cabinet people and advisors) that fits that bill, and that's his Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu. As recent events are quickly spotlighting, Janet Napolitano is WAY OUT of her league as the Secretary of Homeland Security, as matter of fact I would commpare her unfavorably to Bush's man at Homeland Security. She is currently out there twisting in the wind on Umar's attempt to blow out the airliner over Detroit. She is flip-flopping all over the place and the Faux network is going to have a field day on her behind. President Obama is speaking right now on national TV about the Nigerian man's christmas day attack on an airliner over Detroit. He has announced three investigations into this recent terrorist incident to answer the following questions. (1) How did Umar who is in a U.S. database as a possible dangerous terrorist not appear in the government database for the "no fly" list? (2)How he was able to get on a plane carrying explosive materials on his person? (3) How can any such future incident be most efficiently prevented?

What Obama did not say that it was only the GRACE OF GOD that spared the lives of those 300+ passengers and the Presidency of Barack Obama. Because the end result beyond the tragic deaths of all those innocent people would have been a right wing firestorm which would have resulted in an impeachment effort in Congress against Obama for failing to protect Americans from the horrors of international terrorism. Southern members of the Republican right wing active in such an Obama impeachment movement would make sure that ol' man RACISM is up front and center and firmly in the driver's seat of the national campaign. People it would have been nasty and exactly what the Linbaugh and Beck folks have long been praying for.

So my words to the President is never mind the investigations and inquiries, you need to get on your knees and thank the one who diffused the explosive power of that Nigerian's bomb and confined it to a flash, a loud bang, a fire and burned flesh on the bomber himself.

Lastly, as black folks we need to stop nitpicking the President. I am not defending the benign neglect that Obama is putting on black people across this land; but he is what he is, and he is what we got, so people work with what you got. Remember it could have been McCain and Palin. Over the long haul Obama will help black folks, but as is American tradition we black folks are "the last hired and the first fired" and that ain't gonna change just because the oval office currently has a sepia tone.

i did not expect obama to erase racism

i did expect that he would not blatantly ignore it...especially as he himself intensifies it

We gave Obama a chance. But, we paid attention as we extended our collective benefits of doubts. We paid attention to Obama’s razor thin soul and his paper thin resume. We watched Obama as he immediately broke many eloquent lies told to pimp voters. We saw his hope and change rapidly morph into ropes and chains exclusively for poor Americans. We witnessed his promises of transparency contort into complete Nazi-like media control and legendary secrecies. We have seen electronic spying upon citizens escalate under Obama to include the internet that Bush never discovered. We watched Obama’s promised rescue of illegal detainees become the worse torture of permanent incarceration in super prisons. We noticed Obama’s gutting of HBCUs. We caught the racist nuances of his sporadic blackness claimed solely to bash toxic black fathers. We winced as we painfully watched Obama buy banks and car companies. We shudder as we watch him dupe and bilk millions under the guise of Obamacare.

  65. obama is a key player/saboteur in a global economic depression

    I am quite serious...

Sorry Alicia, but the economy was in terrible shape long before Barack Obama took the oath of office. In fact, the economy was in bad shape before Barack Obama had secured the nomination for the Democratic Party. Saboteur implies intent and I don't think President Obama nor President Bush had any intent to see the economy destroyed. Barack Obama needs to take the leadership in turning around the economy, but to imply he is responsible for the economy being in this bad a shape defies logic. In fact, the economy has been stabilized in the last 15 or so months from the horrible state it was in late last summer (2008).

    ReplyDelete
  66. Alicia,

I didn't see this, but you make a good point about bailouts benefit rich coporations. There are some things I could argue about that, but there is some truth to that statement. The way some of that money was used was too much to the benefit of the rich who run coporations and got bonuses in spite of running businesses into the ground. But, stabilizing banks and large coporations (such as banks and airlines) also has a benefit to the public in terms of maintaining a level of confidence so people do not panic and think their money is in jeopardy. But, in general, I agree with the comment that government should be as compassionate to the poor as it is to the rich.

Filled Negro - Please note as I DEFEND DEMOCRAT BILL CLINTON - as it is appropriate to do so in the context of this argument

Anon - I strongly disagree with your assessment above about Obama's staffing choices.

The one thing that you had better NOT DO in the White House is to have a complete staff who's only previous visits to the White House was via a citizen tour.

    Obama had the choice of:

    A) Bringing evil BUSH W officials out of continuity - and thus run awry of the wishes Ernesto and others who sent so much money into his campaign and risk having spies within.

    B) Reach back to the last Democrat that was in power and use people which such experience.

LET'S BE HONEST - Barack Obama is new to the Washington scene after having been a partly 1 term senator. It would have been utterly foolish of him to pack his administration with theoretical ideologues from "The Color Of Change" and "MoveOn.org" and using RiPPa as his Press Secretary DESPITE what some of you think.

He needed people to get him going and he can always ASK THEM TO LEAVE in due time. I can think of few cabinet secretaries that stayed put for two terms of "evil Bush".

Thus I can't agree with your analysis.

Sandy - you appear to be a forthcoming brother. Let me ask you a question.

We both agree that - like it or not - evil Bush was held accountable for the state of the economy on his watch. This is how it goes.

The Black voter increased their usual "anti-Republican" vote from 88-92% up to the 96% that Obama got.

WHY DO YOU THINK that as we look at the voting patterns of the Black voter as he pursues his PERMANENT INTERESTS Locally there appears to be abundant evidence of VOTER NULLIFICATION where it doesn't matter one single bit what the "Local Democrat" rake up in the areas of local economic position, academic results from the schools that they run, crime & violence OR the public health crises that are rendered in the same communities that they are in power over?

Prof Manning Marable said "the Black voter is the most intelligent voter in America. HE KNOWS WHO HAS HIS BEST INTERESTS IN MIND and this is whom he supports".

I strongly believe that in as much as Marable is a Marxist/Leftist and that the Black voter votes in a manner that is favorable to him that this is the ONLY reason why he said such a thing.

IF the Black voter started skewing "RIGHT" he would believe that the spirit of INGORANCE has befallen the Black voter.

What is your view on this matter?

    ReplyDelete
  71.
I don't believe I wrote the USA is more popular. I stated that the world is slowly becoming less hateful of the U.S. I think there is a big difference between those two statements.
Sandy - I fully understand what you were saying but I stand by my argument.

We only need to look at:

    1) ANTI-WAR PROTESTS. DESPITE the two wars going on AND Muslims being killed in abundance in both THE Anti-Bush-War Protesters have largely NOT been protesting because of the results that favored them on Nov 4, 2008 NOT because the war and killing has stopped per Obama

    2) NEGATIVE FOCUS by the Global Left Wing Press - Sandy - have you seen the videos of the captured American soldier in Afghanistan OR the reporter that had been captured recently as well? Despite BOTH OF THEM being forced to appear on video and spout propaganda against the West - the International Red Cross or other left biased propaganda groups that lead the way against AMERICA'S "violations" of the Geneva Protocol are SILENT against these offenses.

It has gotten to the point where the Insurgents go out of their way to make such videos - with the gun trained upon the hostage because they know that the WORLD DOES NOT HOLD THEM TO THE SAME STANDARD as they do the Americans. This is not because America is SUPERIOR. This is because these fighters are seen as INFERIOR and prone to violence. Thus the same lens by which the "Black street pirate" is diminished in America because this is what the media expects from his (due to his "savagery" in their eyes) is also the case with these fighters.

    3) More Anti-Christian Evangelical Propaganda Than Muslim. Trust me on this one dude. I record "Link TV" every day. I am monitoring it now. There is a greater agenda to suppress media attacks directed at "Islam" than there are attacks against "Right Wing American Christian Evangelicals" (Filled Negro can attest to this). These media operatives are more interested in reporting on Zionism and Evangelical Christian "offenses" than they are Islamic offenses - even though MORE MUSLIMS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE PAST 3 YEAR AT THE HANDS OF MUSLIMS than at the hands of the US or Israeli Army.

Please don't tell me that YOU believe that Obama won the Nobel because the Nobel committee looked around and figured that he created the most "peace" around the world.....via his speeches?

I am less concerned with people who are easily swayed by "sweet nothings" said to them than I am about the people who "DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU THINK AND ARE NOT TRYING TO LIVE UP TO ANY STANDARD THAT YOU HAVE OR CARROT THAT YOU HAND OUT".

Some people would rather throw away our guns and replace them with Microsoft Word that that we can each "Write speeches" to our enemies and thus retain the MORAL HIGH GROUND.

The fact that Obama kept his guns has DISAPPOINTED them but they can't see that THEY are the ones who are clueless about how the world works outside of their THEORIES.

The will be the first to be enslaved and raped.

The big failure to me is that this guy's father turns him in, he is on the list, but not the airline flying list? AND he had a one way ticket? And his father already reported him.

  79. Alicia,

I am not sure there is as much as a love fest for President Obama as many people think. Fox News is a pretty significant platform and it is Obama-hating 24/7. MSNBC's opinion shows are mostly liberal-leaning, CNN is pretty balanced and the networks generally report the straight news. I think also that the media typically warms to a new president in the months after Election Day and early in a presidency. Also, factor in that he is the first president who is not a white male and it makes sense that he has enjoyed this kind of popularity. Hillary Clinton would have been the same had she become the first woman president. Plus, coming off President Bush's two terms, there was a lot of anger in this country and abroad. Either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama were destined to be very popular as president. The anger with President Bush really set the platform for Barack Obama's popularity to soar. But, the hard work is ahead for President Obama and hopefully he does the right thing during the next three years.

As for attacks on Iran and Africa ... I don't know about all of that happening. I will say that I am disappointed that he has not worked harder to withdraw our troops from the danger zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. But, he is a politician and some people often expect miracles from politicians, but our political system is designed so that one person (even the president) can not control everything.

The restructuring of the various national security arms under a Homeland Security umbrella has actually weakened the security structure of America than strengthened it.By creating this joint operational complex the specialized capabilities of the individual agencies are sacrificed as they try to "coordinate" with one another to see if the pieces of the puzzle fit.

The concept of Homeland Security was simply a mechanism by Bush to bring more security apparatus under political control, via a political appointee, the Director of Homeland Security. Its clear that Homeland was intended to be a supra national security apparatus similar to the Soviet KGB. Relax wingnuts allow me to explain. The KGB although known as an intelligence organization was primarily a security apparatus. In fact the English translation of KGB is the Committee of State Security. The KGB controlled every aspect of state security from the protection of party officials, suppression of dissidents, to the guarding critical state sites, counter-terrorism etc.

KGB was a success but Homeland Security Department will fail the United States terribly. Why? The KGB from its inception was intended to be a supra national security apparatus, a singularity in purpose and culture; while Homeland is an amalgamation of agencies who at one time or another have competed with each other, and that developed separate and incompatible operating rules, structures , and cultures over several decades.

Obama should scrap Homeland and start strengthening the specialized capabilities of the various agencies.

  89.
Also, factor in that he is the first president who is not a white male and it makes sense that he has enjoyed this kind of popularity

Plus, coming off President Bush's two terms, there was a lot of anger in this country and abroad. Either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama were destined to be very popular as president.
Sandy:

Do you ever notice how this "Popularity Theory" doesn't scale DOWNWARD to the local level when it comes to the Black voter or the working class voter of any color?

Why is it that "coming after total Democratic control in Detroit; Chicago; Newark; Philly; Baltimore........the replacement REPUBLICAN is naturally popular?"

Secondly REGARDLESS of the conditions in Black America with respect to employment, crime or education BIGOTS like Ernesto, Filled Negro and Jody will STILL be casting a vote for Obama.

I am getting the feeling that you are projecting YOUR OWN viewpoints as you interpret the "popularity" of Obama in the rest of the world.

Regarding Fox News vs MSNBC - you should note that MSNBC was NEVER called "Racist" for waging a steady attack upon any prior "conservative" president nor were any Anti-War protester EVER called "racists" for having the most offensive and hate-filled protest signs.

  90. Keep talking Ernesto. I learn more about you with your every post.
CF...I believe that upstownsteve has asked you a billion times what Republicans have done or would do if elected for lower class people of color. You never answer him.
I have incessantly answered his question. YOU nor HE likes the ANSWER so you both keep answering.

Bottom line Ernesto - THERE IS NO ANSWER THAT I CAN GIVE TO YOU that is going to remove you from your entrenched and bigoted position. WHY PRETEND that you are desperately waiting for a compelling answer.

What YOU NEED to focus upon is the fact that despite your own desperate support for the current order YOU STILL are left curious as to what the OTHER GUY would have done. YOU NEED TO BE able to articulate all of the glories that are present now that you have your way.

This is merely another example of PUTTING YOUR ENEMIES ON TRIAL AND FORCING HIM TO TESTIFY.

Ernesto YOU need to be put on the witness stand and forced to testify!!!
Also CF, explain to me how 700 billion dollars magically appears out of the United States treasury to help the CEOs of Citibank get their Christmas bonus money, and a trillion dollars also magically appears to fight two endless foreign wars, yet there ain't a dime to stop people from being kicked out of their homes or to create any new jobs paying a living wage?
Ernesto - you are ultimately ignorant and ideologically confined. Your comments show this.

The very CAPITALISTIC system that you hate gave the evil American empire the CREDIT LIMIT to print new money to stabilize the banks. YOU LIKE THE CHANNELS that you would like to see receive money - A SIGNIFICANT PORTION of the money paid to the banks are being RETURNED to the treasury because the banks want to get out from under the thumb of the Obama Administration.

Ernesto - just imagine if Obama tried to regulate INDIVIDUAL ECONOMIC BEHAVIOR as a condition of receiving federal money just as he has done with the banks. YOU would be the first one protesting over this. Wouldn't you?

    You say a LIVING WAGE?
Why don't you ever ask yourself if the CONSUMERS OF LABOR (the employer) will recognize the added VALUE of the "Living Wage" laborer who's SALES PRICE you have imposed upon him?

It is stunning to see how people like you complain about high prices imposed upon you by CORPORATE monopolists in which they conspire to enforce a price point that exceeds YOUR OWN perceptions of the VALUE of that which they are selling.

Yet in your own perverted manner you will to use the GOVERNMENT to enforce this same SALES PRICE FOR LABOR upon the "consumers of labor" that is beyond the value recognized to them.

Your thoughts cannot exist in a PRIVATE MARKET. You need the GOVERNMENT as the central player to make your system work out.

This is classical "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

You are a direct threat to PRIVATE PROPERTY; Directing one's ACTIONS to support one's desired standard of living.

You are ultimately a STATIST THIEF with the government doing your dirty work.

I am one step ahead of you on my last comment: If the capitalist leaves YOU because he doesn't like YOU stealing from him - YOU SUFFER COLLAPSE because he has departed from you and left you all alone economically.

IF you leave capitalism because YOU don't like him stealing from the treasury to give to banks - YOU SUFFER a collapse because your entire living standard is based upon extracting resources from CAPITALISM.

    Go sit down Ernesto.

  91. When I return to America, I swear I'm going to just buy a used Class A RV and not fly unless truly necessary. I.E. a parent dies.

It's not just the sub-par service of the airlines, even in 1st or business class, but now this nothing in the lap mess. The folks on the flight handled it. I have more faith in them than the TSA.

I live overseas and as a U.S. citizen, I don't have to go through the mounds of paperwork Another Scorpio has to. I often receive extra screening when I flew domestically between 2001 and 2007. This would happen whether I was on business, leisure, with kids, pregnant. Even my baby wearing only a gerber jumper was wanded. The only WMD was his funky diaper. If national security was a REAL priority as opposed to our fear and loss of rights, all borders would be monitored and immigration from openly "unfriendly" nations would be curbed, among other things. It's all about control, I suspect.

I like what Jesse Ventura said about politics being like the old school WWF. They go on TV, yell alot of mess about the other side, and then go out to dinner with each other. It's not so much about Rep vs. Dem as all three branches of the fed government are the marionettes of corporate oligarchies and the 2% of the world's population that is super wealthy.

MSM, especially Fox Noise, serves to divide us all further.

  92. Anon at 6:22 suggests we search all Muslim males before boarding a flight.

Let's forget about the fact that it's not in the spirit of the Constitution or Civil Rights to do this. Lets pretend that the government openly OK's this.

The only problem is, you can't tell who is what religion just by looking at them. There is a mosque a mile away from my house. I see people of all races and ethnicities walking to their service and taking their kids to the school. If they're in non-religious, western style clothing, how can you tell who is a Muslim. I've seen corn fed, blond haired, blue eyed men go to the service. The type who would be mistaken for "Real Americans."

One of my friends suggested sweeping the mosques and deporting or detaining attendees. What about due process, freedom of religion etc?

I'm no security expert, but I'm sure that there are more intelligent alternatives. Maybe monitoring behavior, body language and purchases.

A Federal government conglomerate that ran up a $1,400 billion DEFICIT during the same time interval is seen as a favorable ALTERNATIVE as an insurance provider.

A federal government that proposes a health insurance plan that will raise taxes by $520 billion over 10 years yet touts the PROFITS (deficit reduction) of $138 BILLION is said to be a "Christmas Present for America". Yet when an oil company announces a $10 billion PROFIT they are EVIL!!!! They should be REGULATED and have the MONEY RETURNED TO THE PEOPLE!!!

All the while we see that despite the claims of FEDERAL savings - the STATES will have to pay more for their expanded Medicare burden.

All of this DESPITE 2 years ago in a "Fiscal Wake-Up Tour" I heard about the impending financial crisis in America. The "next president", they said is going to have to LEVEL WITH AMERICANS and tell them that they are not going to be able to expect as much from the government lest the entire nation go bankrupt from the DEBT PAYMENTS. At that time they suggested that Medicare eligibility might have to be raised to 67.

INSTEAD we heard trial balloons a few weeks ago in which the Medicare eligibility would be lowered to 55!!!!!!!

I'm sick of the continual heightening of airport "security". The effect of these measures is marginal in terms of reducing my chance of death, and they are rather severe intrusions on my privacy.

I'm suspicious that requiring all umbrellas to have insignificant metal in their construction would save more lives than all the airport "security" combined, and far cheaper. See here for the math supporting my belief; you'd have to fly a lot (>20 times/year) for airline terrorism to be a greater threat than lightning.

    Refuse to be terrorized!

  112. @Another Scorpio, I will grant that there is a great deal of paperwork necessary to travel into the US and you can say that the US was at fault for not revoking his Visa after his father reported him but several articles I have read stated that DHS gets similar warnings on people who are totally innocuous and it takes more than a relative's word to put you on a no fly list. Maybe they need to revist this policy but that does not mean the incident is all Obama's fault.

Are you telling me you just fill out paperwork in Greece, show a US passport and the Greek airport security's job is done? I think not.

As for the Dutch, I'm sure they must have their own safety protocols and they even have machines that x-ray the entire body and this individual had come from Lagos, had a passport that must have indicated that he spent a significant amount of time in Yemen, and had to go through their security. So why is everyone saying we need to step up our security at our airports when it wasn't OUR airport whose security he went through. I have returned to the US from abroad and had all of the correct paperwork on numerous occasions and have been searched throughly and sometimes frisked despite having a US Passport and in recent years an ID indicating that I am a contracted employee for the Federal government, however that did not keep me from being detained by TSA for nearly an hour and searched excessively for god knows what reason. So having proper paperwork doesn't mean that swoosh you get to rush through security and that the people who were conducting the physical security check in Amsterdam and their governement entity that employes them were not culpable as well. So again how is it only Obama, TSA/DHS, Napolitano's fault and we need stepped up security in the US because of what happened at a foreign airport?

But I am not surprised a "Non-White White Supremacist" typically views the words from WHITE FOLKS as being superior in their threat than any opinion that a Black could even THINK about giving.

Hello AB, I am sorry if this is not appropriate, but I was wondering, I wanted to ask you, do you know any books about lesbian and interracial lesbian stories? Can you find some for me, I keep getting black man and white woman interracial porn when I look it up online. I would like to read some good decent lesbian stories. I am a white female 38 years old and I fantasize about a black woman I work with. Not trying to be funny or perverted, I was going to put this on the [jack thread] but it its too old for you to read it I guess. I am too lazy to email you in private. Sorry if this is not appropriate.

  137. CF...So I finally drank some Brioschi and read your posts. Your entire premise is completely backwards. The government subsidizes private industry. That is the main part of their job and it is why the "small government" conservative crowd always manages to run up humongous deficits. They cut taxes on the upper crust while turning the corporate welfare spiggot full throttle open.

The government does what is not profitable, for the benefit of the profit takers. This is why the government builds and maintains infrastructure and launches satellites and various other expensive, non-profitable things that are funded by taxes.

The government subsidizes business interests at every turn. How does big business repay the government? By shipping the manufacturing sector offshore in search of cheap labor and putting their profits in foreign tax shelters. That's why we are in such a deep hole. We don't make anything anymore, with the exception of fancy military boondoggles, another treasury-busting handout. But hey, at least Boeing and Raytheon haven't outsourced those jobs...yet.

You should be elated that Obama is following the Bill Clinton script circa 1993/94 almost verbatim. This can only help plunge the U.S. further into the third world/no middle class shithole that you claim to abhor, but argue vociferously to maintain. Read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" for a reminder of the good old days of non-regulated laissez faire capitalism. Or perhaps some more recent examples of what happens when lax regulation and monopolies collide such as Enron, Lehman Brothers et al.

Your prescription of more greed to help the lower/middle class is like prescribing more leeches to a dying patient. Good luck peddling that elixir after 30 years of seeing its effect on the country.
