Get ready O man, I feel another battle coming on. Although, honestly, I don't know why. The member of the supremes who is stepping down ,after a long and distinguished career, (best thing that Gerald Ford ever did was to appoint this man) was in the liberal camp, and in order to balance out the supremes I am guessing that you have to put another liberal in his place. (A note to all of you out there who like to label the field as a racist, I did not say black, I said liberal. I already got burned once going down that road)
I know that the rethugs are going to fight this one tooth and nail; they have already started. Right on cue Orin Hatch has declared that his O ness cannot pick someone who believes n judicial activism. (Hey, ever notice that when conservative justices fashion new laws it's not judicial activism but just them following their interpretation of the Constitution?) But damn it O man, do not cave and put someone on that bad boy who will flip on you down the road. They must be young, liberal, smart, and have a strong personality. Anything less will be a disappointment. This is one of the reasons that the folks on the left elected you, so don't blow it. You are a lawyer, damn it. You know exactly where I am coming from and what you have to do. Don't pick some moderate just to avoid a fight. If you do that A-merry-ca will suffer down the road and it will not be good for your legacy.
And finally, these were probably the last words little Artyom heard from his soon[ not ]to be mommy.: "OK Artyom, have a safe flight. And remember, I packed some cookies in your backpack." Unbelievable! Didn't we go down a similar road before? WTF is wrong with these A-merry-can families and these foreign adoptions?
"MOSCOW — Russia threatened to suspend all child adoptions by U.S. families Friday after a 7-year-old boy adopted by a woman from Tennessee was sent alone on a one-way flight back to Moscow with a note saying he was violent and had severe psychological problems. The boy, Artyom Savelyev, was put on a plane by his adopted grandmother, Nancy Hansen of Shelbyville.Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the actions by the grandmother “the last straw” in a string of U.S. adoptions gone wrong, including three in which Russian children had died in the U.S.The cases have prompted outrage in Russia, where foreign adoption failures are reported prominently. Russian main TV networks ran extensive reports on the latest incident in their main evening news shows."
Children are not pets. Actually, I take that back; you treat your pets better. But seriously, you can't just return a child after you adopted him and say that you want a do over. I don't care how f#&*%d up in the head the little rug rat is, it's your child now. Live with it.
You know FN, this is the second time I read about an adoptive parent turning the kid back to the agency. People act like children are disposable. I just cannot believe it! And foreign adoptions usually aren't as rigorous in vetting the parents and seeing if they potential parents and child are well matched. Because sometimes the child and adults don't bond but it's better to find that out BEFORE the adoption is finalized.
ReplyDeleteThat is why transcontinental adoption presents serious problems. The other issue is embryo adoption. There is a story going on right now where a woman adopted embryos and now the couple that she got them from is suing her to get them back. Embryos are not pets either.
What a screwy world in which we live!
I'm with you on this whole judicial activism, Field. I'm no lawyer so I'm pretty ign'ant on a bunch of these issues. But their decisions with Ledbetter, corporate campaign financing, and literally redefining what "navigable waterways" is just so the EPA can't regulate pollution just boggles the mind. In fact, a cynical part of me thinks that all these Republican attorneys general are suing over the health care bill in the hopes that the Supreme Court will get a hold of it, throw out who knows how many years of precedent, and overturn it. I wouldn't be surprised in the least of the Roberts court did it. I think we've got a rogue court on our hands.
ReplyDeleteRound 2 - FIGHT!!!
ReplyDeleteI never gave any of my cats back, and that includes my Ivan who had a host of health problems right off the bat, so I know I would never do that to a higher life form, ie a child. Adoption is a lifetime responsibility! But its also a joy. Sometimes youve got to put in the time and the effort to get there, but its worth it.

Another summer, another round of wing nuts chasing congressmen at town hall meetings and republicans witch hunting any judicial nominee who that can read.
field,
ReplyDeletethe reason the wingnuts are going crazy is because of a myth that has been present in their psyche for years. Edward gibbons wrote in "the decline and fall of the roman empire" that Septimius Severus the first black roman emperor was the reason that rome fell. In the tea parties perspective, a republic can only exist if it is not multi-cultural. As soon as color seeps into the leaderhip, their inner schizophrenia prompts them to see that as the end. These wingnuts may be dillusional, but they have numbers. See the true actions of the French revolution as a pretext of the wingnuts goal.

ReplyDeleteFaints!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I sue Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann for infringing on American citizen's inalienable right to the pursuit of peace with an intent to commit conspiracy and treason against government officials? And can I add to my complaint Fox We Make It Up News as her co-conspirators?
ReplyDeleteGood post. I hope Obama realizes that the Republicans will scream no matter what he does, so he might as well nominate someone good.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can sue, Granny. It's called free speech.
ReplyDeleteI think both Reagan and Ford had appointees that became liberal after being appointed. The vetting process needs work, I guess. I've taken the online political leaning tests and I'm libertarian/left. My main concern with the current appointee involves the public sector unions. I'm sure O-Man will disappoint.

He can nominate till the cows come home.

Dawn Johnsen withdrew her nomination because it's been languishing and was going nowhere.
Personally, I like Janice Rogers Brown and Ann Claire Williams, but they're not radical Marxists so they won't even be on the O's radar.
"I don't think you can sue, Granny. It's called free speech."
ReplyDeleteAhh, fiddlesticks! Well, I guess I'll go to plan number 2, voice my freedom of speech. Palin, Rush, and Glen are not the only ones that know how to voice their freedom of speech.
Sarah Palin quit her government job before her term was up. She doesn't even know how to be a responsible mother let alone a responsible leader. How many tricks did she turn to become the mouthpiece for the GOP, or did that red leather do the trick?
Profacero:

ReplyDelete"On NPR today, Stevens said he didn't move left, but the court moved to the right."
ReplyDeleteThat's true. And Stevens was too far left by today's standards. Hence, anybody Obama appoints will be conservative by comparison.
Did you know that Stevens is the only Protestant left on the SOCUS, fn?
ReplyDeleteAll the rest are Catholic or Jewish. Although religion shouldn't count, (but I'm sure it does, unfortunately, because their job is to make decisions based on Constitutional law),as a SOCUS, I would think Obama would look to appoint another Prot.
Yes, unfortunately, today's standards are too far right.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to Field vetting the candidates.

Good grief, Granny. Bill Clinton promised he wouldn't run for President after he was elected Gov. of Arkansas for his second term. How long did that promise last?
How many "tricks" did he turn to become the mouth piece (pun intended) for the Dem party? Maybe that blue dress of Monica Lewinsky did the trick.

@ FN:
ReplyDeleteAbout the adoptions...it seems to me that whites in this country adopt children from other countries and use them as posessions...like a new handbag...or a hat...something to be worn, seen and proudly discussed.
And...
America has a real problem when it comes to the concerns of children...they are not concerned...there is a whole generation of kids (The Millennia Generation) that is being thrown away on a daily basis by both whites and blacks....a country is only as good as it treats its woemn and children...that should tell you how good America really is.
(AND...the woman is from TENNESSEE...very backwoods hillbilly type people...the child was probaly REACTING to her psychological issues)
Peace.
~agape2010~
Agape...they're really not that many white children up for adoption (in the US). I know of many White couples adopting Asian, African, East Europeans, and paying Megabucks to do so. Even though they already have had kids of their own.
ReplyDeleteI swear, this couple adopted a Chinese boy,(cost them about 30K and named him Frank. I still have a hard time getting over that.)
It was a family name, though.
Agape:
ReplyDeleteI too think it is a lack of knowledge or dismissal of others culture and that attitude that you accept my culture while I diss yours because yours is different. Instead of learning and embracing others culture as well.
Hmmmm...Is it that there are not many whites up for adoption or is it that they don't want to go through the stricter adoption policies laid to adopt them?
ReplyDeleteI am asking that question, because I know that you have to go through a lot of red tape to adopt here in the USA, and I think they do a follow-up every so often. At least that is how it used to be, because a woman I used to carpool with adopted a child and I remember what she had to go through.
ReplyDeleteWe should ALL be Americans. Culture from your native country is good too.
ReplyDeleteBut, and I hate to use this analogy, I adopted a cat from a Animal Shelter. She was already about 3 years old, the prettiest Calico I've ever seen, and she hated me for about 3 weeks. Only reason I knew she was alive, is when I'd get home from work & see some food missing from her bowl.
Now, we're best friends. Sweetest cat I've ever had. I KNOW this doesn't relate to children, I have a 26 year old daughter who is a Radiologist.
But. I thought there might be a connection.
Yes, Granny....they even had to fly to China....TWICE.

@ APOI:
ReplyDeleteYes, there are not as many white children that need loving parents as there are black...which is why whites usethese other countries to "buy" children...I have always thought the idea of paying for a child to love is ludacris...and not the rapper either :)
I have said this more than once...if people really want to have a child to love it will not matter what the child's color is...so for people to go to another country and pay big bucks buying children does not seem all that loving to me.
For the record I was not on Oprah's side when she took Madonna's side when she adopted child number 62 from Africa (ok - maybe not 62 but she and Angelina Jolie need to set a different trend)
And...
When Josephine Baker adopted her tribe she truly had a rainbow of children which she went bankrupt trying to raise (now that's love).
Peace.~agape2010~
This story is a red herring.
ReplyDeleteThe kid was defective merchandise, and for anyone who knows anything about foster children -- this kid was NOT an adoptee -- the defects can be life threatening.
When it comes to adoptions in the US, the fight for white infants -- infants -- is intense. Between birth control and the growing social acceptability of single motherhood among whites, the supply of white babies has dwindled.
On the other hand, there's no shortage of black children. Not babies, as far as I can tell. Why? Because it appears they stay with their mothers till Social Services removes them and puts them in foster care.
Last I read, in NY City alone, the number of black children in foster care was 40,000.
Why? One reason is black social workers oppose the adoption of black children by white parents.
Meanwhile, when it comes to foster care in the US, families who open their homes to foster children are PAID to house and care for those kids. Thus, taking in foster children is less an act of love and more a matter of economics.
Moreover, foster children in the US come with a return receipt. Foster parents can send them back from whence they came.
hey, no--where does your information come from?
ReplyDeletethe NYT says the kids was legally adopted, and also says that the adoptive mother arranged for the airline to supervise his flight and arranged for him to be picked up at the airport...the pieces don't all fit because why would he also have this incriminating note?
in any case, no story i've seen says he was fostered, so i'd love to see a link.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/10/world/europe/10russia.html
the real red herring? it's already very difficult to adopt a child from russia. the adoptive parents are required to make 3 separate visits and appear several times before a judge.
this isn't an issue about race--please, not everything is. how do you even know what the race is of the adoptive mother? what are the facts surrounding her adoption?
are we really going to berate her because she didn't adopt a black baby?
"On the other hand, there's no shortage of black children. Not babies, as far as I can tell. Why? Because it appears they stay with their mothers till Social Services removes them and puts them in foster care.

Hey Filled Negro (and you too Boukman70):
ReplyDeleteCan you detail one ruling by either Stephens or Ruth Bader Ginsburg that AFFIRMED the EQUAL HUMANITY of Black people by having the AUDACITY to assume that Black people ARE NOT "damaged goods"?
While I have had most of my research focused on Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her assault upon the "Cultural Consciousness" of Black people - it appears that Mr Stephens is a comrade in arms.
Filled Negro - tell me one ruling in which Stephens assumed that despite the "unfavorable" outcome of the court case to Black people - OUR STATUS AS EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS should have us to accept it?
Instead the Ginsburg/Stephens wing of the court operates with the assumption that Blacks are "damaged goods" and that they in their beneficence are working to use the legal system to "Repair The Negro - for he is wounded".
How do you grow STRONG with Affirmative Action - Filled Negro?
It is funny to hear the same people who claim that the repetitive messages as learned from hair care and beauty products advertisements condition Black people to believe that we are ugly are the SAME DAMNED PEOPLE who promote the messages of Black Inferiority - claiming that these messages said in the name of diversity and opportunity are going to one day HEAL US!!
BE GONE Stephens!!! Take Ginsburg with you!
"BE GONE Stephens!!! Take Ginsburg with you!"
ReplyDeleteSure, give us Clarence -I have never seen a coke can I don't like-Thomas, who is where he is BECAUSE of Af. Action, but doesn't want anyone else to even get on the playing field to play. Nice!
Only when A-merry-ca shows me that she can play fair will I consider justices who won't consider past practices in their rulings. Until then....

The conditions underground were such a mess after the explosion that is was only late Friday that rescuers realized that they had walked past the bodies of the four missing miners on the first day without seeing, a federal mine safety official said.
maria,
ReplyDeleteIn a legal sense, the kid may have been "adopted", but in every other way this kid was a "foster child."
There is a world of difference between the adoption of an infant and taking in a child of 7 or 8, especially when the 7- or 8-year-old may come with psychological problems that threaten the safety of the host family.
It is simply impossible to know if this child's problems can be overcome or he will remain disturbed. Inasmuch as I was acquainted with two parents who were murdered by the child they took in, I know it's possible for good intentions to go horribly wrong. This killer child was white, as were his parents.

ReplyDeleteIn a legal sense, the kid may have been "adopted", but in every other way this kid was a "foster child."
i'm sorry...that's bunk. you said he was a foster child and that the story was a red herring. he wasn't. i have a friend who adopted two children from russia, a brother and sister, who are 7 and 11 at the time. she did not "foster" them and she worked through their issues.
they were not babies.
there is no system for foster care for russian children in america.
i don't understand why you would try to argue this wasn't a real adoption, imply that his age made it not a real adoption, or that somehow this was a temporary arrangement and returning the kid was OK.
the adoptive family has gone into seclusion. until more factors are known, i am choosing to believe what i read from credible, named sources --he was adopted.
Who's the Black guy in that picture?
ReplyDelete"Who's the Black guy in that picture?"
ReplyDeleteWhat black guy? I don't see any.
I'm going to eventually adopt but I will be doing foster care to adoption first. I need to get to know the child first. While I will be prepared to deal with a myriad of issues I just want to make sure that my decision will not cause too much confusion my family or hurt the child even more. A lot of these kids have been shuffled back and forth and are scared and they will need time to adjust to a normal family.
ReplyDeleteThis same shit happened when folks were adopting Romanian children. They look at children as accessories not as human beings with souls. That is the problem. So many of these children have many issues that a special person can only take them in and care for them in the right way; whoever it is must have tons of patience.
ReplyDeleteit's your child now. Live with it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like those racist right-wingers that expect mothers to keep their babies instead of aborting them.
maria,
ReplyDeleteLike I said, the kid may have been "adopted", but the American mother was promised a healthy child and she got a kid with problems serious enough that she sent him home.
You can be absolutely certain there are no would-be parents from Russia coming to the US to adopt children. There are virtually no white kids available.
Meanwhile Russia seems to have a surplus. However, like many objects of desire, the best adoptable kids are kept in Russia. It is the problem kids who are exported, partially because it is tough to send them back once they have been legally separated from Mother Russia. Another poster mentioned that similar problems have affected parents receiving kids from Romania.
Anyway, what term do you use to describe a 7-year-old child who has been a ward of the state since infancy?
Meanwhile, apparently you do not know that even in the US, most states have return policies for ADOPTIONS.
I myself am an adoptee and in the paperwork for my case, it is stated there was a one-year window during which either party -- my adoptive parents or the adoption agency -- could rescind the adoption. Right here in New York City.
The one-year window allows the parents the chance to see if the kid is normal and it allows the state and/or adoption agency to determine that the parents are truly fit for the job.
Unfortunately in the world of adoption and foster children, there are kids born to unstable parents and those kids are often a chip off the old block. Lying to adoptive parents about the mental state of the birth mother is a common practice at adoption agencies.
i'm sorry, you just have no idea what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteyou don't know what this mother was promised or what her reasons were for doing what she did.
and you know no russians come here to adopt? because they only want white kids? where, exactly, is this coming from and who are you targeting?
again, you didn't answer anything i asked. and of course, i know there are "return policies" for adoptions in the U.S. and one year seems longer than it probably is now.
how is that even relevant? do you know whether there are "return policies" in russia with the american adoption agencies that handle the adoptions?
i don't believe there are--the adoption process takes years, and i said, requires multiple visits and judicial hearings.
whose side, exactly, are you taking here? it's not clear. i can't see any logic from one sentence to the next.
and let me assure you your knowledge of russian adoption is sorely limited if you think all the children being adopted from there are perfect. or that the adoptive parents -- americans -- think they are.
i know of a total of four russian adoptions, and in one case the child was a special-needs child who was small and developmentally delayed.
and in nearly all the cases the mother was an alcoholic--with the effects medically documented in the children.
regarding my friend with the older children--they told her themselves what the situation was with their mother. there was no one lying.
maria,
ReplyDeleteBelieve what you want, but I am politically active in the adoption world and well versed in the good and the bad that it includes.
Since humans are human, sometimes things do not work as hoped and planned. But too often efforts are made by adoption agencies in other countries to off-load problem kids onto Americans.
The problems are too often minimized or hidden. It's another ball-game if a kid is identified as "special needs" and has issues that are in some way visible. But too often the foreign agencies are covering up problems.
Come on Field... you know darn well if that Rugrat was trying to start a fire in "yo" crib you would whup that @ss! I aint mad at the folks... Russia was just trying to pull a fast one... they just didn't know who they were messing with! The jokes on them!
ReplyDeleteAnd secondly that Bastard Glenn Beck he is just itching for a foot. I'm a Black female and I didn't appreciate it one bit! PUNK! He knew we would get in that @ss he loves controversy! I'm going to give him some.
as noted, i am well-versed in the good and bad as through friends' direction experiences with russian children specifically. you didn't say whether you are involved in foreign adoptions.
ReplyDeletei'm still quite puzzled by many of your statements. i never said everything was all good or all bad.
you never really disagreed with anything i said, other than your unsubstantiated claim that this wasn't a real adoption.
and i don't want to be harsh; you mention you're an adoptee yourself you said and i imagine much of this might be painful for you. so i hope not and if i added to that, i apologize.

ReplyDeleteAll of you, have a wonderful and victorious day.
Glad to see Rikyrah around here:) I think the bigger issue is how we treat children in the first place. If a child has been a ward of the state since infancy, it will take a miracle to get that child to be well adjusted. For unfortunately, those who are wards since infancy often have attachment disorders and conduct issues. This is what the Romanian orphans should have taught us. I heard a nurse lecture once on this topic she belonged to a humanitarian group that went to orphanages etc and she said that many of the babies and toddlers hadn't been held or touched affectionately and it impeded their ability to bond with other humans as they grew up.
ReplyDeleteThat is why people need to be thoroughly vetted before they adopt ANY CHILD at all!
Meeting three times with a judge is insufficient. Whoever adopts these types of kids needs to be TRAINED in psychology and should have all the patience in the world! These types of people are rarities...

The public school systems that fail to adequately service far too many Black kids DO MORE TO INSURE THAT "FEW OF US ARE ON THE PLAYING FIELD" than anything that you can point to Brother Justice Clarence Thomas has done.
The main flaw of Clarence Thomas - for the perspective of those of you who are Progressive-Fundamentalist Bigots is that he has the audacity to assume that BLACK PEOPLE ARE 100% EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS in his rulings.
YOU all want a jurist who looks at a Black in a court case and assumes that he is DAMAGED GOODS from the history that he has suffered. Even though he was born in 1985 AND he murdered a Black person who was born in 1990.
Since no Blacks were selected for the "jury of his peers" in his MURDER trial - those on the left with a perverted sense of justice - believe that the 2 BLACKS who were sent home from jury service was a greater cause for a vacation from the GUILTY RULING than the fact that he said "Yes I killed that Black Bytch. I would do it again if Barry Sheck lets me out".
Some of you care more about that ONE INNOCENT MAN in jail than you do about the violent assaults done by those 10 guilty men that you allow to go free.
YOUR COMMUNITIES suffer from the heightened state of violence streaming from your ABSTRACT THEORIES.

it might be sufficient to let them leave the country with the child, after they have been through all the screening processes. but after that you are right--they do need training and support. the folks i know who have adopted these children got both--and their children from what they say and from what i have personally experienced are thriving.

And when his SCOTUS nomination became rocky, he didn't hesitate to pull the so-called "race card" and cry that he was being persecuted because he was "black" when he was actually scrutinized for being a pervert, hustler and an opportunist.
Hathor:
ReplyDeleteThe INVERSE of No_Slappz would mean that you view him the opposite way you view me. Why not tell us what you think about me so that the riddle can be solved?
Granny - I support the ECONOMIC SYSTEM that you now live in: CAPITALISM.
I just DEPARTED the economic system that you and Filled Negro seem to favor: Communism/Socialism/Marxist-Leninism. Unfortunately 99% of the people who live in Cuba CAN'T go on a vacation to inspect the evil empire to the North to make up their own minds.
If it pleases you any - I purchases a "Che" t-shirt. Not to WEAR IT but to spoof it in some manner.
On the other hand, there's no shortage of black children. Not babies, as far as I can tell. Why? Because it appears they stay with their mothers till Social Services removes them and puts them in foster care.
No_Slappz:
Help me out here.
I am trying to understand the population of Black kids that you are speaking of.
Are you saying that ALL Black kids take this social services route?
What you typed makes no damned sense. "They stay with their mothers" - points to about 98% of all Black children.
till Social Services removes them and puts them in foster care.
Now No_slappz - I was trying to find hope in you. Anyone who can rile up Granny and Filled Negro is at least a POTENTIAL friend of mine.
It seems that you have a problem with your FACTS though.
How is it that there are 40,000 Black kids in NYC foster care when the FACTS say that there are 16,216 kids of ANY RACE in the entire system as of 2008?
http://www.ocfs.state.ny.us/main/fostercare/stats.asp
Of this total it is true that Blacks make up 47% of this number.
Not a good stat but CERTAINLY not as bad as you have attempted to molest our image into being.
Slappy happily received Affirmative Action for himself and has worked assiduously to deny it for others.
ReplyDeleteAgain - if this is the biggest indictment against Brother Justice Thomas then he is doing quite well.
The Progressive Establishment fought to take control over the school systems in certain cities because they were failing to educate Black kids.
Now that the Progressive Establishment has solid control over these systems and far too many of our children are FAILING - they REMAIN in the confidence of people like you.
After years of training to hate Clarence Thomas and others - you fail to notice when your pocket is being picked.
Humans do not belong in mines anymore, machines do. In this day and age of computers and technology surely there are engineers whom are developing the type of machines that will completely replace humans in the dangerous environments of mines.
ReplyDeleteanonymous, you wrote:

As long as there is a United Mine Workers union, there will be opposition to technology that replaces men with machines.
You wrote:

Absolutely. Engineers can design machines that perform many tasks. But remotely operating a machine that operates in a mine is tougher than flying a drone aircraft over Afghanistan.
However, engineers can do the job if all obstacles tied to union work rules are removed. Then, of course, the machines have to prove themselves less costly than wage-earning humans -- who want those jobs.

Hey Field interesting post. I will wait and see on the judges you know my position. Its the system but I'll take any reform or progressive ruling that the next judge renders.
ReplyDeleteGranny you are killing me today. Don't hurt nobody. Did you see that according to Forbes Glen Beck made $32 million in book deals, speaking engagements, his radio show and from Fox News. Fox only gave him $2 mil but the radio show paid $10 million.
What does that tell you about how serious this faker is? He is not worth getting your blood pressure up. But I feel you some folks actually take him serious. I tried reading one of his books and its just rehashed right wing policies and craziness.
It is amazing that folks would by his book or Palin's. It does say something about the dumbing down of the US working class.
Hey send one up for me at church tomorrow I will send some timber up for you as well.
Sister Rikyah where have you been? I miss tangling with you about brother Obama.(lol)
You never gave me my props on my predictions. Course it ain't over yet, but the banks got bailed out, war got escalated, wireless wiretapping is ongoing oh and add to that illegal assasinations of US citizens and toss in the failure to even indict war criminals Cheney, Bush et,al.
Anyway I stop by your site on occassion, interesting.
Peace and then justice!

NO silly goose they have already made up their minds. They voted with their feet against an unplanned economy and against a system that lets some folks starve while others get filthy rich.
You say you were there so you should know that most don't care what you think.
And there prinicple dissatisfaction comes from the fact that its country cannot trade with the major trading countries because of the US blockade. So yes they have a lack of all the latest amenities and their food supply isn't all it could be.
But just think what they would do if they were left alone or at least allowed to trade like everyone else.
And why the blockade? Because the US gov't despises them for tossing out their mobsters and big business exploiters and showing that capitalism is not the only game in town.
And CF, 99 percent of folks in all Third World countries can't afford to travel to the US. That is a luxury of their usually corrupt and compromised ruling classes. However unlike those Third World countries, folks from the US and Haiti have gone to Cuba to avail themselves of health care, which even according to its enemies is pretty good.
And how did you get to go to Cuba? Travel is limited by the US gov't, to primarily to scholars and journalist and spies. Which one are you? Well we know you're not a scholar or a journalist, so how did you get to go?
Think carefully before you respond I am fully versed on what Cuba is about I am a journalist and scholar and preacher and I have read Fidel and Religion.
Disagree with the Cuban system if you will but don't come to this blog with prevarications and half truths.

So let me get this straight. YOU CLAIM that a person who is shut out of the evil US Health Care system because of COSTS will instead choose to PAY the travel costs to Cuba in order to obtain health care services?
I told my buddy who is an "Anti-America American" that he should arrange for a CRUISE SHIP full of "The Least Of These" Americans to come down to Cuba and receive free health care.

NO its not CF thats why words have meanings and real definitions.
Steve and Field are liberals, they admit it call them that, then we know what you are talking about!
Progressives are to the left of liberals! One can be both but the terms apart have different meanings.
In my opinion, Mr. Beck is being paid by some other force (group). Anytime as an American citizen you believe that your representatives should be paid for by another country and you promote that country's interests over your own, you are a paid whore. I've heard him talk about the founding fathers, constitution, the framers etc. We all have been to school and have helped our children, grandchildren with their homework. That is not what we were taught. Foreign countries should not be paying for US representatives by proxy or otherwise, nor should Americans be bombarded everyday about annihilating that country's enemies. He also advocates that Americans should vote for the same old candidates from the same old parties which in my opinion are already corrupted.

CF two problems you may be a blogger that I am sure no one really reads, but you are DEFINITELY NOT A JOURNALIST And BTW I have never been curious enough to look at your blog after reading your writings here which usually include made up words and terms and obfuscation as well as prevarication and sometimes outright lies.
- A good example of my point about your writing skills is the second point about a Marxist-Leninist Utopia is an outright lie. The Cubans don't call it that and folks who are communist or Leninist don't call it that.
- A journalist would at least try to get their facts correct. But you are consistent, the truth and facts never get in the way of your anti-human philosophies.
- And aren't you a Christian? Jesus was the one who talked about the least of these. Why do you denigrate a very important part of Christianity?
CF said:
ReplyDelete"Aside from basic hateration - what problem do you have with the proceeds received by Mr Beck?"
Actually I was doing a journalistic thing and making an observation. I am in no way jealous or envious of Glen Beck.
The point was that Beck does what he does because he is in it for a buck.
You listed Owen Wilson, Brad Pitt and Clinte Eastwood to name a few who make large salaries, but they are all actors.
Eastwood is not a commentator nore does he claim to be one. Beck on the other hand is a commentator.
Now that in my mind would mean that he would have some sense of responsiblity for what he says. But since he doesn't then I suspect that he has an ulterior motive.
So my point is that he is doing his commentating and misleading of folks for the almighty dollar. And that he has little in common with the poor workers who listen to him.
I mean after all the system works for him.
CF said:
ReplyDelete"Mellaneous - where they insuring that the Americans STAY OUT or where they insuring that Cubans don't "escape in"
I warned you not to go there but you have obtained a little bit of knowledge and now want to pretend to be an expert on Cuba.
The answer to your question is that the United States will only allow a relatively small number of Cubans to immigrate through legal and official channels.
Its a pretty smooth move on the part of US imperialism because it forces folks to have to take to the high seas and then the capitalist can say look they are leaving their country see they must be oppressed.
Most people don't know about the US emigration limitation on Cuba emigration so they buy the lie.
They think that the "wet foot/ dry foot" policy is based on something real. The policy states that if a Cuban touches US soil he/she can stay. "White foot, black foot," its called in Miami because Haitians can touch US soil all they want but they in the past would be returned no matter the circumstances surrounding their leaving. The earthquake changed that a bit and they at least are granted what is known as Temporary Protective Status (TPS)
People leave Cuba for the same reason that folks leave all Third World countries, they are trying to go where there is a higher standard of living.
Having lived in Miami and having worked on the issues of Cuban and Haitian immigration. I can tell you that I have met Cubans who have gone back to Cuba and some who have talked about returning because they didn't like the callous attitude of capitalist society toward workers and they didn't like the obsessive focus on materialism that Americans seem to have.

Actually CF this did happen. Its well documented in Micheal Moores movie "Sicko." You probably aren't aware that the city of New York at least initially balked at paying the medical expenses of the fire fighters who got sick as a result of inhaling the dust from the 9/11 Twin Towers while doing clean up and fire fighting in the area.

mellaneous,
ReplyDeleteWrong. Your comment about NY City balking on healthcare payments to firefighters working at Ground Zero is FALSE.
All authorized fire department and other professionals contracted to work at Ground Zero were covered by their healthcare plans.
The Ground Zero scam involves awarding medical coverage to people who were NOT covered by medical plans but chose to supply their services anyway.
There is no credible evidence that people who worked at Ground Zero were impaired solely by working at the site. Moreover, as the Ground Zero workers have admitted, they worked mostly without wearing air filtering masks.

mellaneous,
ReplyDeleteYou have false view of Cuba.
Answer this. If the US can extract millions of barrels of oil and billions of cubic feet of natural gas from the Gulf of Mexico, why is Cuba unable to extract more than a small percentage of the oil and gas it needs from the same body of water?
Cuba has nothing. It has nothing because the government devotes an excessive percentage of its limited revenue to keeping a bootheel on the necks of its 11 million prisoners.
How about the Cuban fishing industry? Ever wonder why there is none?
What products are made in Marxist countries? Few. And the quality is always poor.
Moreover, agriculture in Cuba is lagging. The island lacks the fertilizers and know-how to produce enough food for everyone.
When Fidel dies, Raul might have the good sense to follow the Chinese model and meet a few US human-rights demands. Then the embargo will end and millions of Americans will travel to Cuba.
But the tide of American visitors will start a rapid surge of prosperity among the Cubans and they will keep the American money rather than fork it over to the government. At that point the communists will realize they have lost the power to control the population and they will stand by as the silly socialist experiment of Cuba comes to an end.
And as far as healthcare in Cuba goes, you get what you pay for.
You wear your emotions on your sleeve. Hence, it's difficult to believe you are an objective reporter. Besides, in today's MSM, there are very few, if any objective reporters.

As for adoption and foster parenting, well, as I said, you can pretend that adopting an infant and adopting a 7-year-old are the same in every respect, but you would be wrong.
On a personal note, I am not at all sensitive about adoption. but I know the score.
Adopting infants is one thing. Adopting children is a new and very different ballgame, especially when the kids come from another country and that country is known for using adoption as a form of human trafficking to relieve itself of future problems.

I could CARE LESS about the "distinctions without a difference" that you make between a LIBERAL and a PROGRESSIVE.
The sad point about you Mellenous is that you don't bother to QUALIFY why being "MORE LEFT" is better.
The fact that most PROGRESSIVES would vote for the Liberal candidate makes them CO-CONSPIRATORS in the conditions of Detroit, Chicago, Buffalo, Akron, etc.
When you all are seen saying "NO you liberal I WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU - you are not LEFTIST ENOUGH FOR ME and I will punt".
Instead you VOTE FOR THE "LESSER OF TWO EVILS".
In the communities listed above THERE ARE NO MORE "Greater Evils". There are only "THE LESSER EVILS" running these places. You STILL are populated with EVIL!!!!!
As a PROGRESSIVE you MERELY have a mentally masturbated outlet. "Yes I did vote for them but THEY WERE NOT REALLY PROGRESSIVES as I wanted".
Maybe there is a REAL PROGRESSIVE standing right next to a Unicorn, grooming it.
