I would like to start this post by welcoming home "Mr. Big." You must have felt really at home in the Big House Ronald. Big house, get it? Let me stop.
Anywhooo, tonight I have spanking on my mind. (Get your minds out of the gutter freaks, not that kind of spanking.) The kind that some folks down in Crimson Tide country would see fit to put on some young ladies for violating a school dress code.
"Oxford High School, a school in Calhoun County, Ala., prom dress codes are strictly enforced. Some say too strictly. This year, the Anniston Star reports that 25 students were disciplined for violating the prom dress code. The strangest part of the story, though, is that the students were allowed to stay at the prom, but the following week, they had to choose the option of receiving corporal punishment (by paddling) or a three-day suspension....The principal, Trey Holladay, defends the policy stating that, "We're using the same policy we've had for the last five years. Being a parent, I want to make sure girls and guys act accordingly. We're a high school, and our community has certain expectations of what is appropriate."
Damn Trey, who is going to do the paddling? I am sorry folks, I understand that you Negroes have no problem with putting a rod to the behind of your youngsters, but I am not sure if I am cool with a high school breaking out the paddles for the violation of a dress code.
Spare the rod and bring out the hoochie mama? Look, I am all for discipline in schools, and lord knows I am not down with young girls going all Janet Jackson on their prom night. But isn't the penalty in this case a bit much? (Yes, even the three day suspension.)
"According to the Oxford prom dress code, females must wear evening gowns or cocktail dresses. The dresses cannot be made of transparent material, there cannot be slits more than four inches above the knee and there must be no revealing neck lines or back lines. The dresses can be sleeveless or strapless, provided all body parts from the shoulder to the knee are covered. Girls also can't wear two-piece dresses with the midriff showing or with removable material covering the cleavage area.Males must wear tuxedos or suits. They cannot wear tennis shoes or oversized clothing."
Dress code? Fine. Punishment for violating said dress code? Not so much.
"Jerry Snow, a former assistant principal for three years at Oxford, said the code was enacted because there were problems with female students wearing dresses that were seemingly too low cut or exposed too much skin. If students are not sure if a dress conforms to the rules, "They have plenty of opportunity to bring pictures of the dress," he said."We want the prom to be a dignified affair," Snow said. "We want people to have pictures they would want to show to their grandparents or kids."'
Yep, they sure won't be able to show off those pictures with paddle marks on their backs. [Article]
Make it a flogging, and I'll be the flogger. ;-)
ReplyDelete"...females must wear evening gowns or cocktail dresses."
ReplyDeleteI wish people especially educators would stop referring to woman or girls as females. "Female" is non-species specific.
Sorry Mr. Field, I know that wasn't what the post was about but I really hate being called a 'female'. I'm a WOMAN!
Roll Tide.
ReplyDeletePaddling is a bizarre punishment for people their age in any case.
Medieval in fact.
How is it that they get to stay at the prom if the point is for the prom to have proper decorum? Punishment should be, to be not allowed to participate, because whatever the punishment afterward, one could wear whatever they wanted to the prom. However, the modesty of the dress may be in the eye of the beholder. If you are going to allow strapless dresses, some cleavage is going to be involved if the young lady is well endowed.
ReplyDelete"How is it that they get to stay at the prom if the point is for the prom to have proper decorum? Punishment should be, to be not allowed to participate, because whatever the punishment afterward, one could wear whatever they wanted to the prom."
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.
Val,no need to apologize. You are expressing yourself. That is what we do here.
The first anon. is a bad person. :)
Farman, you are giving me "Pulp Fiction" flashbacks with that word.
I'm old-school. *shakes head* Break out the paddle.
ReplyDeletePaddling? WTF, do they think they are in Singapore?
ReplyDeleteThis beggars the imagination.
Perhaps it is just me, or does term the paddling has somewhat a sexual connotation? Did someone have a fetish of paddling high school code when they implement the dress code for the prom? What want to know the know the thinking about it. You are going to paddle a teenage girl because she needs to be punishment for wearing a dress that was what the school viewed as too short and too low cut. I thought the dress was appropriate because it does look like a prom dress, and she wore a shawl. In addition, school really can't a dress code a prom if prom is not on school premises, and is not paid by the school. Students' parents are paying for the event, so if anyone anything to say about a dress code it would be parents. My niece wore a gown for her strapless gown for her prom. She followed the fashion rules of not wearing anything too short or the girls making too much of an appearance. Now, I have seen some girls who wore outfits to their prom where I thought Stacy and Clinton from What Not to Wear should have intervened. I am with the mindset if didn't show up looking like Little Kim showing a nipple, then I do not see the problem. The paddling is disturbing on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteThe dresses cannot be made of transparent material, there cannot be slits more than four inches above the knee
ReplyDelete4 inches above the knee - that's fine. 4.5 inches above the knee - you is a ho!
Seriously, this whole thing seems like someone in the school admin has some "naughty slutty schoolgirls need a good spanking" kind of fetish.
val, female should be an adjective. i agree and it's a major pet peeve.
ReplyDeletecorporal punishment in schools should have outlawed LONG ago.
i have to think this school must have some regressive daily dress code as well, because it would be too weird to go crazy just at prom.
honestly, i think they should let them wear what they want on a special dance night.
and why "cocktail" dresses? anyone ever seen a "cocktail" dress that wasn't low cut?
today was boobquake day, btw. nothing happened. no earthquakes...the school needs to see it sounds as dumb as the iranian leader.
I don't believe in spanking or paddling children (but some knucklehead children act as if they can't comprehend unless you threaten bodily harm).
ReplyDeleteI read a book called "That mean old yesterday" by Stacey Patton who was a black foster/adopted child in her debut biography. She also identified and placed into perspective the slavery dysfunction as to why black folks prefer to whip their children. I recommend this book.
However, they need to totally BAN any inflictive physical punishment in schools, what the heck year is this? Those students are too big for whippings, I find it demeaning and threatening to their self confidence as young adults. I got enough hand and thigh lashing in elementary school. The teachers would tape four/five rulers together and they all had the nerve to name it the same thing... "the board of education". One of them used to beat me for no reason, later as an adult I found out I resembled her then husband's mistress. Teachers have personal issues too, and they should never be given that opportunity to physically take it out on children.
Now back to black folks beating their children... My mother used to grab anything that came to her hand to beat us. She once beat me with the flat part of a machete that she used to keep lined up against the wall next to the front door, in case of intruders. I can't remember exactly how old I was, I just knew that was the only time I ever kept still for a beating. (Now let me so much as raise a finger to my own child and this same woman would be the first to call child services.) I've never forgotten her beatings, if I bring it up or throw it in her face, she gets defensive. My grandmother was even worse, I've heard.
I used to get the crap "paddled" out of my ass....though we called it getting "licks". It was usually because I broke the rules. Didn't kill me, but it didn't keep me from being whooped again.
ReplyDeleteKids are pussies these days. Punk pussies.
Maybe a few licks with a paddle, whith holes drilled in it, would keep the little assholes from acting like thugs and assaulting teachers and classmates.
I got no sympathy.
Grown ups spanking 17 and 18 year old girls.
ReplyDeleteThat's right ouf of a 19th century British porn novel.
This is twisted.
I am mildly surprised that not more persons have noted how twisted it is.
@ FN:
ReplyDelete1) The spanking rule for the school needs to be taken off the books so. That way it wil not be used as an alternative.
2) I know this town...Anniston, AL. It is a very small town with one traffic light. There used to be a manufacturing plant there...Monsanto or something...but it has long since closed. This is a town that offers nothing for the youth outside of watching TV and listening to music. Kids pattern what they see.
3) In my heart of hearts, knowing this town, I honestly believe that the paddling rule is in place so that some of the men in the schools can get closer to these girls...sorry...it's what I honestly believe.
4) Young ladies (?) LIVE AND DIE for prom...this is one of the biggest moments of their lives...for someof them it will be the first and last time they get to dress up...let then live for a day.
5) Sorry...but for the most part these young girls in small AL. towns and other parts of the south are just built a certain way...they are a little more voluptuos...and they know it...;)
6) Blame it on whore moans....lol
oops...
ReplyDeletePeace.

"6) Blame it on whore moans....lol"
ReplyDeleteWas that suppose to be a joke?
You black folks enjoy abusing your kids, if I had a nickel for everytime I called the cops for my niegbor, I'll afford my boat by now.

ReplyDelete@ FN:

So. What wre your other "alternatives"?
Detention? Hah! They'll never show up.
Perhaps it is just me, or does term the paddling has somewhat a sexual connotation? Did someone have a fetish of paddling high school code when they implement the dress code for the prom?
ReplyDeleteReally?! I didn't have anything like that in mind when I volunteered to be the flogger.
Some things I'm unclear about...
ReplyDeleteIs this a private religious school? Many private religious schools paddle or cane in the south and world wide.
Was the dress code not made clear to her? She seems remorseless for violating the rules.
Am I correct that a suspension was offered as an alternative? If she doesn't want to be paddled, why not take that instead?
Paddling aside? Why isn't the mother backing up the enforcement of the school rules?
Is the principal fine? If he's good looking, I'll dress like a hoe to the dance.
All joking aside, I have no sympathy for her. It seems to me if her mother paddled her years ago, she would have enough common sense not to be in this situation now. Yes, IMHO modesty standards are out of control. I once taught a class where a girl wore a red handkerchief attached to dog chains as a shirt. They wouldn't let me send her home. The modesty and dress codes should apply to boys too. I believe in the phrase "the me I see is the me I'll be."
Dear Mr. Field,
ReplyDelete*GASP!* I am AGREEING with Frank Drackman!
I'll take the three day suspension.

"Corporal Punishment." Is a spanking with a ping pong paddle, and only the buttocks can be struck. No brains, creativity, problem solving or thought processes required. What if the principal hits the young lady so hard on the rump that it causes her to fly into the wall four feet away and injures her nose shattered. And would any of you want a grown man hitting your daughter on her buttocks with a paddle?
ReplyDeleteWhat if the teacher is a 200 pound man, and the kid he hits is your 14year old daughter -- and he wallops her on the rump? Or maybe he smacks her in the breast and claims he meant to smack her on the shoulder but she moved at the last minute? Do you see the repercussions here, if hitting is allowed in schools? What if a teacher doesn't like a particular student? The teacher will find an excuse to spank this child no matter how well-behaved he or she is. If hitting is allowed in schools, it will get out of hand.
BTW, does the school know what an evening gown or cocktail dress looks like? Evidently, they meant that they wanted the young ladies to wear a turtle-neck sweater dress because cocktail and evening dresses look like these:

I hate to post and run but I gotta go.
Ooops! I thought it was Frank Drackman, but it was just "Frank"...my apologies. But, I still agree with Frank.
ReplyDeleteSueCitySue
Oh I forgot, she is in Alabama, land of Governor Barbour, the southern confederate loyalist.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a little kinky too. Hmmm...I wonder if he is one of those rightwing folks.
ReplyDeleteI'm gone! Night and blessings to all of you good people.
@ Granny:
ReplyDeleteThe governor of Alabam is Bob Riley...but he is not the one running anything...
Shelby actually rins the whole state...he even got tied into Phiily politics during the elections and made some highly charged politacal moves that allowed him to have some dealings with the House, Ways and Means mess that Charlie Rangel is tied up in...if we can break the strongholds in Alabama...the entire south will fall again...
As an aside...I see what you mean about needing to stay away fromthe site...it can be very toxic...the good/evil thing...;)
Peace.
~agape2010~
Erm .. I live in Singapore. Students aren't paddled here. Teenagers who break laws can be caned if their parents decide to cause an international incident the government tried to avoid. Adults can be caned too for varied crimes. But students getting paddled ... that's on you, US bro.
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Field,
ReplyDeletePMJI, but I was intrigued by your description of CB Bucknor (of Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica) as "the worst umpire in baseball." Intrigued, because until his recent retirement the worst umpire in cricket was Steve Bucknor (of Montegeo Bay, Jamaica).
Coincidence? I think not.
Two bumbling umpires, sharing the same name, both from the western end of the isle of Jamaica. It either runs in the family, or there's something in the water out there.
Sadly Steve was pretty good in his youth, but he didn;t know when to stop. He became a laughing stock, accusing t.v. companies of doctoring their images to make him look bad.
He also accused me of "liking Heineken too much" at a tournament in 2007.
Yours in intrigue,
TPC

ReplyDeleteLa~audio, that's a sad story, but I am sure you are not alone.
"4 inches above the knee - that's fine. 4.5 inches above the knee - you is a ho!"
That's funny.
"Blame it on whore moans....lol"
Now that's a play on words if I ever saw one.
Watch it Purple Cow, I was born in Falmouth. :)
Smashed...you ask a good question about it being a private or public school. I am guessing it was a public school, but maybe someone could help me with that. I am not sure.
I have trained horses and I have trained people (even raised two sons) and the problem is really one of leadership versus authority.
ReplyDeleteAuthority and its use only bolsters "order" and "discipline" in the short run, usually in the interests of those IN authority.
Leadership is different, demands consistant, long term work on the part of the leader, and takes someone more than a lower-mid level beureaucrat to handle. Oh, they can keep the lid on, but people come away knowing what a shuck the whole thing is. School especially.
I grew up as a "military brat", listened to some of my father's friends tell about what it was like to be a prisoner during WWII and Korea. That was pretty much my life as a kid in school.
So, who, exactly, was this prom FOR? And WHY are they held at all?
A few years back in our area there was a kerfuffle because some kids felt that the prom was for them, not something that was a favor granted by authority (and with the school powers-that-is taking one last chance to put their hand on one's life) and set up a counter-prom for other reasons.
It was not well recieved by the "educators" and steps were made to stop it. Threats were made about the dire punishment awaiting those who went to the counter, not the "sanctioned" prom.
I am very sure that several people who are being offered corporal punishment are legally adults, I wonder why it is all right to assault them for misconduct, but not, maybe, a teacher or principal who disobeys "school rules"?
FILLED NEGRO:
ReplyDeleteChalk this up as yet further proof that you "Major In The Minors".
I have to be honest with you - when I did by background research on Oxford High School I figured that it was a backwoods country school with "tobacco spitting" as a varsity sport. I was ready to yield to Lauren that indeed the South was several decades behind the illustrious North.
Unfortunately the facts say otherwise.
Oxford High School:
http://www.greatschools.org/cgi-bin/al/other/1195#toc
They are 8 of 10 in the Great Schools rating.
I will be right back.
I don't know where I remember this one from but:
Strawberry Mansion High School in Philly: 4 of 10
http://www.greatschools.org/pennsylvania/philadelphia/2090-Strawberry-Mansion-High-School/
Filled Negro - WHY do you worry about the paddling that is surgically administered by the STAFF at Oxford with the goal of prompting CONFORMITY to a higher level of decency in dress code YET YOU are SILENT about the MENTAL PADDLING that takes place at Strawberry Mansion High School in Philly.
This time the CONFORMITY is enforced by fellow students and too often it is to DEGRADE standards of decency.
Do you see Filled Negro that the POWER OF THE PROGRESSIVE-FUNDAMENTALIST is that he is allowed to CHERRY PICK and render INDICTMENTS.
Right underneath your nose in Philly is a cause for YOU to take a pack of members from the 9 Black Fraternities and Sororities to EACH AND EVERY HIGH SCHOOL in Philly and "give them some WOOD" as you restore DISCIPLINE in these dens of learning.
It must feel good to retain your moral superiority yet lose your consciousness.
I believe Constructive Feedback may very well be Caucasian NOT African-American, nor Hispanic.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against Caucasian people, except when they pretend to be African-American for the sole purpose of trying to make us look like stupid buffoons!
Its also possible he could be a Gov't Spy.
Spying on Political, Urban Blogs.
CF only visits and comments on Field Negro's Blog to create Chaos and Obstruct versus engage in Intelligent, meaningful conversation.
I know my theory sounds a little off but if you read his comments, than you'll understand why I've reached this conclusion.
Thus I will be totally ignoring him from this point on.
CF only visits and comments on Field Negro's Blog to create Chaos and Obstruct versus engage in Intelligent, meaningful conversation.
ReplyDeleteMy dear Laurel -
You are likely in your early twenties based on your line of thinking and the little games that you play.
What YOU call "obstruction" I call "binding you and others DOWN so you can actually FIX what you promised to do upon eliciting the support of our people in the last interval".
I notice that most people who vow to put their hands over their eyes and ears when confronted with my challenges to their inane thoughts are merely desirous of having THEIR OWN MOUTHS go unregulated as they spout their own theories.
I mean come on Laurel - yesterday you were promoting my good friend Filled Negro as the key to the future success of Black folks based on his policies. IF YOU or HE were to go to some neighborhood in Southwest Philly where these theories are prevalent and show how the masses of people within are HEALED and FULLY CONSCIOUS I would be appeased.
Ironically Laurel (Sorry for calling you Lauren before) as I researched the two schools that I "obstructed" with today I noted that while Oxford has 74% WHITE FOLKS........Strawberry Mansion is 98% BLACK.
This says to me that EVEN IF the policies of Oxford are brutal the impact upon Black folks is proportionally LESS than the negative situation regarding academics in Strawberry Mansion PHILLY. Unfortunately SMHS is NOT going to grace the walls of the Filled Nergo blog.
In closing Laurel - I realize that you are young. If you learn noting else from me - remember this. YOU AND I NEED NOT BE FRIENDS for both of us to be working toward the same END. In fact if my FRIENDSHIP or FAKE RACIAL LOYALTIES cause me to be SILENT when criticism is due then I have proven to be DISLOYAL because only your REAL FRIENDS tell you what you NEED TO HEAR.
If you support:
* Safe Streets
* Quality Education
* Thriving Local Economies
* Healthy Lifestyle Outcomes
* Solutions To The Above 4 That Are Comprehensive and Enduring
* A Preference for ORGANIC Solutions that call upon the people who will BENEFIT from change to be the primary AGENTS OF THEIR OWN SALVATION
Then Laurel - you and I are BFFs.
We can disagree on METHODOLOGY (Liberal/Conservative)
We can disagree on VEHICLE (Political Parties or community based efforts)
We CANNOT disagree on PERMANENT INTERESTS. Instead our debate must be around the EFFECTIVENESS of the MEANS by which to obtain them.
(Check me out Laurel - withintheblackcommunity.blogspot.com IF I am a "White boy" I sure am consumed with "Negro issues". Instead I am a Black man who is TIRED of being used by those who CLAIM to have my racial interests in mind but only have their ideological interests as such.)
Words of Wisdom From Activist Angela Davis:
ReplyDelete"We have to talk about Liberating Minds as well as Liberating Society".
"I think the importance of doing Activist work is precisely because it allows you to give back and to consider yourself not as a single individual who may have Achieved whatever but to be a part of an ongoing Historical movement".
"Jails and prisons are designed to break Human Beings, to convert the population into specimens in a zoo - obedient to our keepers, but dangerous to each other".
"Racism is a much more clandestine, much more hidden kind of phenomenon, but at the same time it's perhaps far more terrible than it's ever been".
"Radical simply means "grasping things at the root".
Have a Blessed day all:)
well, laurel, i HAVE always wondered why his ID is a white mask.
ReplyDeletemaria:
ReplyDeleteThat was an avatar that I stole off of the Internet. Ironically it is more concerning to you than someone who refers to himself as a "field Negro". Or better yet leadership who says that YOU are among "The Least Of These".
"I think the importance of doing Activist work is precisely because it allows you to give back and to consider yourself not as a single individual who may have Achieved whatever but to be a part of an ongoing Historical movement".
Laurel - what happens to the ACTIVIST when in the course of their STRUGGLE they manage to slip up and get THEIR FAVORED PEOPLE INTO OFFICE?
It seems to me that ACTIVISM IS YOUR RITUAL.
You have Mayor Fox of Charlotte, Harvey Gant and Rep (darn it - the CBC guy. You know his name). Despite winning MONOPOLY MAJORITY support among the Black community in your mind your critique of them because they "did not help the poor" but instead catered to "Wealthy Whites" is supposed to cause me to applaud you?
It seems instead that you are DETACHED. Just as my friend Mellaneous can reject certain Democrats that he had supported as being LIBERAL but not PROGRESSIVE - it seems that you both live to STRUGGLE.
This is why I say that it is important to hold you down, binding you to WHAT YOU SOLD TO US in the past. It is easy to INTEND TO "boil the ocean".
I challenge you to carve up the domain that needs to be MANAGED and implement your solutions. Be responsible for all that goes on WITHIN this subdomain and make sure you keep all external threats out.
Today some people take over a domain and then GO OUTSIDE of it, chasing down their long time adversaries who have LEFT THEM ALL ALONE, attacking them for their benign neglect per their departure.
Maria,
ReplyDeleteNow you know.

Of course not!

Laurel:
1) Can you document the FRAUD that I committed? Or is it a FRAUD because you say it is?
2) Can you tell me what was contemptible about my message to you?
3) Seriously - I would love for you to lay out the case of my "Fraudulence". I would save it as a screen saver so I would forever cherish it. Laurel has schooled me.
It is clear that despite being a "Pro-Life Democrat and a Mother" that you still act like a young girl in your disposition - playing silly little games that accomplish NOTHING.
Just imagine Laurel - what if I allowed YOUR views of me to have a prevalent impact upon ME and my consciousness?
I would be constantly chasing after you seeking your approval. Instead of understanding MYSELF - I would be trying to catch the carrot that you have taped to my head and placed on a stick and a string.
I don't do "school yard" games.
Thank you for showing me that I should never waste my time posting anything on your blog.
I thank God every day that I was not born nor have I ever been anywhere near Alabama.
ReplyDeleteWhiteBowieSteve:
With so many African American greats having come from Alabama am I allowed to extend your logic which you use against me as I say that in attacking Alabama that you are attacking these BLACK PEOPLE who are from Alabama?
Alabama is 26% Black.
With a total population of 4.6M people this means that there are about 1.6 MILLION Black Americans living in this state.
WhiteBowieSteve:
Kindly tell us the threats that the Black man living in Alabama is facing in 2010?
* Has anyone called out the NATIONAL GUARD to defend the lives of Black people in 2010?
* Earlier this year we learned that more than half of the residents of Artur Davis' congressional district are ALREADY on some form of government health care (Medicaid or Medicare). As we look at this new entitlement BUT ALSO the fact that there are fine academic institutions in this general area (Alabama State U, Tuskegee U and others).........will the people in question be made more COMPETENT to deliver these needed medical services after their FAVORABLE LEADERSHIP has coordinated the resources that they control, sending their YOUNG PEOPLE to these fine institutions so that they will one day return and be the PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PROVIDERS that will lift up the community to the DESIRED STANDARD OF LIVING?
What indictment can you render upon this particular congressional district in Alabama that is NOT possible to be rendered upon the 16th district of New York - the district with the HIGHEST LEVEL OF POVERTY IN THE NATION?
(Side note - I live in the South and I defend it against IGNORANT attackers like WhiteBowieSteve who lives a short drive from several known 'Killing Fields" for Black people.
Laurel on the other hand appears to live in North Carolina. Despite the fact that I saw a street gang from Charlotte and Durham that were terrorizing the community - she appears to like attacking the South. She is not at risk of being called a "Self Hater" despite attacking where she now lives.
Funny how the main people who claim to be NON-JUDGMENTAL are dripping with it.
But I don't want CF's craziness coming my way.
ReplyDeleteThis is often the case when people can't DEFEND their position. I understand.

THE STRUGGLE. Interesting.
I wonder if you are even capable of defining the terms of "The Struggle"? It appears to be merely a RITUAL for you.
UNITED YOU STAND - as long as no one ASKS QUESTIONS they can remain UNITED with you it seems.
Here is my meme Laurel:
COMMITTED TO THE EFFECTIVE ATTAINMENT OF OUR PERMANENT INTERESTS...OUR COMMUNITIES WILL STAND STRONG.
DERAILED by commitment to that which is ultimately EXTERNAL FORCES seeking our VOTE we are UNIFIED in our "Sold Out Behavior" thus rarely does one SELLOUT call another a "Sellout" when he is standing right next to him.....SELLING OUT.
The last line I obtained by watching the antics of WhiteBowieSteve.
Nothing seems to rile this bootlickin coon CF up more than a perceived attack on his beloved white folks.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned nothing about race in my disdain for Alabama.
From all accounts it seems to me to be a backwards region populated by backwards people black and white.
No wonder you're defending it.
Many problems here folks:
ReplyDeleteDress code? Fine. Punishment for violating said dress code? Not so much.
Then why have any dress code or rule period if it cannot be enforced?
I am vehemently opposed to corporal punishment, however, I am even more disappointed that those on this blog see no need for accountability for actions. You see my niggers, you instead begin blaming everyone, rather than coming up with a decent plan (most of you) for breaking rules. YOu do the same with laws. Ray Ray was selling crack, but he just got busted cause he's black. Let's teach our children that rules and laws are to be followed. Instead you worry more about the sexual deviancy behind the spanking rather than worry about parents teaching their children to follow rules. The demise of our culture lies within these types of statements.
2. Who cares what CFs avatar is? I mean really, because you disagree or problematize one's ideaology, you think questioning their avatar is more productive than actual intelligent discourse? If you disagree with his methodology, then challenge that. If you can. Those who are limited in intellectual discourse instead usually begin childish rants. Case in point Maria and Laurel. Check out UTS (sometimes) intelligent and provocative discourse.
3. Field is much more Patient and Tolerant than I am with that kind of crap, which is why I totally respect his Blog.
This statement is quite concerning. You shout out respect to someone, but in the same breathe you deny yourself the ability to do the same. I see this type of behavior with black youth daily. PULL YOURSELF UP TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS.
I too read the article, and disagree with paddling. However, I am more concerned with the parents who allowed this to happen and more concerned with why the students openly defied school authority on a matter that they knew the consequences...sounds like the same type of mentality (not degree of) those who fill our jails every day.
This is often the case when people can't DEFEND their position. I understand.
ReplyDeleteThat would be Laurel. El Stupido Negro.
"This statement is quite concerning. You shout out respect to someone, but in the same breathe you deny yourself the ability to do the same. I see this type of behavior with black youth daily. PULL YOURSELF UP TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS."

Another handkerchief head.

ONCE AGAIN WhiteBowieSteve:
DEFEND YOUR CHARGE.
Place the entire state of Alabama against the combined state of siege in Baltimore and Washington DC.
Alabama has 1.6M Blacks
Washington DC and Baltimore have (401K + 330K =) 731,000 Blacks
I would like for you to
1) Detail for me WHAT THREAT that a Black in Alabama has in 2010 that IS NOT PRESENT for Black people in DC and Bodymore, Murderland?
2) Detail that the EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM - which favorable people to you RUN in Baltimore and DC is head and shoulders above the one offered to Blacks 'In The Heart Of Dixie'?
3) Aside from being at the heart of the Federal government engine and thus employing many people - DETAIL FOR US the robust economic engine of DC and Balt that is non-existent in Alabama?
On a recent drive to New Orleans I saw a new Hyundia auto manufacturing plant south of Montgomery and a brand new Kia plant in Georgia near the AL state line which employs many people from AL.
Do you see how frustrating it is to deal with a person like you Steve? In your quest to slander a region of the nation (sounding just like White Liberal Snarling Fox Rachel Maddow) you, in fact, can't SUBSTANTIATE the results had by our people in the elite, progressive North.
I am vehemently opposed to corporal punishment
ReplyDeleteAnon #30:
Three of my BEST TEACHERS used rules to spank my hand and that of my 100% Black classmates to Overbrook Elementary School in Filled Negro's beloved city of Philadelphia.
* Mrs Clinton in 3rd grade
* Mrs Porter in 4th grade
* Mrs Martin in 6th grade
All of them were Black females with HIGH STANDARDS. Discipline and high academic standards were the rule in their classrooms.
I recall Mrs Porter saying in a "read between the lines way" about the White teachers: "We raise our voices at you to have you focus on your education. We spank you because WE LOVE YOU and want you to act like young men and young ladies. Everybody around here DOESN'T LOVE YOU. They go home to their friends and talk about you".
I would allow these three educators to teach my children today AND WOULD HAD THEM A PACK OF RULERS with accompanying rubber bands - giving them full permission to spank my children's hands if they felt necessary to do so. THIS IS THE CREDIBILITY that they have with me that they indeed have the permanent interest of QUALITY EDUCATION at hand.

i'm limited in intellectual discourse? thanks for the laugh. and i never rant, childishly or otherwise.
neither does lauren.
Ooohhh I get it now.
ReplyDeleteCF is yelping the praises of Alabama because it Republican run and conservative therefore better for black folks.
What a Tom.
Well let's start with......
The DC area is actually Silicon Valley East with thousands of non-government technical and computer oriented jobs.
Most recent aquisition is Northrup Grumman to Northern VA.
I have been in private industry for 21 years as have most of the black professionals I know in the DC area.
Alabama has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation, especially for blacks.
Alabama has one of the highest rates of illiteracy, especially for blacks.
Infant mortality, standardized test scores, out of wedlock births, obesity Alabama is right there at the top of the charts.
Let's not forget that very recently 38% of the Alabama electorate (guess which party they belonged to) voted to enforce an obscure local law to prohibit miscegenation.
Be for real CF.
I know how much you love Massa but you are really starting to look kind of crazy now.
um, it's laurel dumb girl.
ReplyDelete"La~audio, that's a sad story, but I am sure you are not alone. "
ReplyDeleteYou know, there were parts that I was making humor of, but I forgot to include the smiley faces, LOL. But I know it's really not funny, and too many people have similar sad tales to tell...
And to all, I've always been creeped out by CF's avatar, I just never said anything. And those eyes sure don't hellp his case when he's goes off into those rants either. (goosebumps).

Steve:
Are we going to focus on the respective impact upon BLACK FOLKS or general regional benefits?
Here is the slight of hand that you play:
I asked you to detail what about these two regions are different for BLACK PEOPLE - you then talk about "Silicone Valley".
If I rebutted you - asking if the Blacks in the "8th Ward" or "Anacostia" are abundantly employed at "Silicone Valley East" THEN YOU'D accuse me of seeking to define the present conditions of Blackness upon the "Least Of These Blacks" rather than the prosperous among us.
Now, of course, if I pointed out the Black Middle class around Birmingham and Huntsville YOU would dismiss them as inconsequential.
Ironically my new friend Laurel does evaluate social policy by focusing on "poor Blacks" instead of "Wealthy Whites" that benefit from Mayor Foxx of Charlotte and such.
YOU TELL ME STEVE.
Are we debating the entirety of the region or just BLACK FOLKS?

Alabama has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation, especially for blacks.
But Bronx/Brooklyn/North Philly DOES NOT?

WhiteBowieSteve:
Here is a web site that allows you to compare LITERACY RATES.http://nces.ed.gov/NAAL/estimates/Estimates.aspx?SearchType=3
Why don't you compare ALABAMA with WASHINGTON DC.
% of AL lacking basic skills: 15%
% of DC lacking basic skills: 19%
WOW
Calhoun County AL: 15% lacking
Baltimore City MD: 16% lacking
Infant mortality, standardized test scores, out of wedlock births, obesity Alabama is right there at the top of the charts.
Straight from the mouth of Rachel Maddow.
It is interesting that POVERTY becomes a WEAPON when Progressive-Bigots are seeking to INDICT their enemies.
When they are seeking to shield the LEAST OF THESE from attack - these same people CONDEMN those who attack the poor. Do you notice this Steve?
Let's not forget that very recently 38% of the Alabama electorate (guess which party they belonged to) voted to enforce an obscure local law to prohibit miscegenation.
Of this group - how many BLACK FEMALES believe this same way? Or did you NOT see Steve Harvey on Nightline a few weeks ago when he interviewed a panel of Black women?
"I asked you to detail what about these two regions are different for BLACK PEOPLE - you then talk about "Silicone Valley".
ReplyDeleteYes idiot.
Plenty of black people work at technical firms in the DC area.
"If I rebutted you - asking if the Blacks in the "8th Ward" or "Anacostia"
Probably wouldn't be much difference. A ghetto is a ghetto.
"Now, of course, if I pointed out the Black Middle class around Birmingham and Huntsville YOU would dismiss them as inconsequential."
Not at all. I would be rpoud of them as I am any black strivers anywhere.
However even you aren't silly enough to suggest that in size or influence the black middle of Alabama remotely compares with the DC area which has the largest concentration of college educated professional black folks in the WORLD.

That was an avatar that I stole off of the Internet. Ironically it is more concerning to you than someone who refers to himself as a "field Negro". Or better yet leadership who says that YOU are among "The Least Of These".
i never said i was "concerned," i said i was CURIOUS.
and what leadership? and least of whom? aren't i white, which is assumed by some to be perfect, privileged and surely not the least of anything?
and you still haven't explained why you would chose to hide behind a white mask.
also, you claim to be "from the south." uh, uh. you're in atlanta, or outside it. that's a metro area that would not be thought of as "the south."
If someone hits my kid, I am kicking their ass. That is all.
ReplyDeleteand you still haven't explained why you would chose to hide behind a white mask.
ReplyDeleteinteresting use of words, stupid girl. and I see you removed your photo (thank you by the way, I wanted to phone you for pizza).
So I guess by having nothing, you are not hiding. Truly, who cares about the "color" of one's mask.
Time to grow up simple one.
Bob,
ReplyDeleteToo bad your kids acts like a fucking fool. You should hit your kid.

ReplyDelete
and what leadership? and least of whom? aren't i white,
ReplyDeleteI actually thought that you were Hispanic. Sorry.
Maria - go back to the Ted Kennedy funeral and listen to the many Black Progressive-Fundamentalist leaders who refer to BLACK PEOPLE as "The Least Of These".
In their PERVERSION they seek to EXPAND the domain who come up under the title "The Least Of These" so that THEY.......like Mellaneous does with his SOUP LINE THAT CIRCLES THE BLOCK can proclaim to their GOD....."LOOK AT ALL OF THE DAMAGED PEOPLE I AM NURSING".
MY GOD would ask them: "What have YOU DONE to show that that they are 100% EQUAL AND COMPETENT? Or are you just seeking self aggrandizement to impress me??"
which is assumed by some to be perfect, privileged and surely not the least of anything?
Maria: I coined the term "Non-White White Supremacist" after noting that some BLACKS think as if WHITE FOLKS ARE SUPERIOR to them and their actions suggest that they take this assumption to heart in all that they do.
and you still haven't explained why you would chose to hide behind a white mask.
It is not a MASK.
It is an AVATAR of a Black man that I saw on the Internet about 3 years ago. I STOLE IT and have been using it ever sense. If I knew Photoshop I would turn it red or green if it would please you.
also, you claim to be "from the south." uh, uh. you're in atlanta, or outside it. that's a metro area that would not be thought of as "the south."
Sure it is.
Are you telling me that it is possible to have a city that is in the South but is isolated from its surroundings?
It seems that this merely affords you the ability to retain the negative assumptions that you have about the South yet abstract Atlanta from it.
I don't understand why the reverse is not true. With the 16th district of NY having the highest rate of poverty of any congressional district in the USA - why is Mississippi the assumed bottom feeder?
In the case of the North - pockets of MISERY is not enough to show certain bigots like Steve that all is not golden.
Worse yet he and others aren't able to detail what they have done to attempt to EMPOWER these people, providing them with more COMPETENCIES per the control over the institutions they now have. Instead they are content with FEEDING THE PEOPLE and making sure they are "IN RECEIPT OF SERVICE", enough to allow them to live at a standard of living that their productivity does not otherwise afford to them.
NoteveninAlabama:
ReplyDeleteOne of the tendencies of Progressive-Fundamentalists is that they tend to CHERRY PICK and thus can retain their moral superiority.
I have a challenge for you. With Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion High School being rated a 4 out of 10 as an academic institution (Oxford that paddles has an 8 of 10 and they are in ALABAMA!!!!).......what do you suggest that kind hearted Progressive-Fundamentalists do to bring Strawberry Mansion High up to an 8 - like their "country cousins?
Let me check the comparative school funding levels in order to take this excuse off of the table:
Oxford High AL - $8,380
Strawberry Mansion PA - $8,985
YUP!!!! Definitely DISCRIMINATION and SUPPRESSION going on in Philly. The spending proves it.
I mean, what does Filled Negro believe that a school system that spends $9K per year per pupil is gonna do? Turn our rocket scientists?

Maria, you got your ass kicked by agape2010 in the Skip Gates comment section. You and MAMM should join forces cause no one on this site likes either of you.

ReplyDeleteLaurel and Maria,
ReplyDeleteWhile I am not a fan of CF, sometimes his words do hang heavy in the air.
Reading to fast is like not listening and it may cause you to miss some valid points.
Although, it is my opinion that CF might be getting caught up in what he might believe to be the eloquence of his own words; some of what he writes has some relavence.
My DAD once said to me, "Son you can learn something from everyone, even from a fool", and I said, "what can a fool teach me" HE said, "HOW NOT TO BE A FOOL".
No reflection on CF just a statement of fact.
Remember, TO DEBATE ON A SUBJECT IS TO TRY AND FIND A TRUTH, TO AGREE ALL THE TIME IS JUST CONVERSATION.
CF, please don't think I am defending you for you can clearly defend yourself.
While I am not a fan of CF, sometimes his words do hang heavy in the air.
Why is it necessary that you "be my fan"?
This is as bad as Laurel asking me "Who's side are you on" the other day.
In assembling your own consciousness you are allowed to pick from a variety of sources and then call the aggregation of elements.
The next step is to ROAD TEST IT, insuring that what now sits nice according to your mind's understanding can actually endure in the real world.
The difference between a person who is serious in fixing the problem that he CLAIMS to want to fix and a BIGOT is that the former is open to allow 'constructive feedback' received from the real world results to allow him to CHANGE HIS METHODS at problem solving.
THE BIGOT, by comparison is unwilling to change so he will find the OPPOSING FORCE that caused his THEORIES to fail. In his own mind he positive that if he KEEPS TRYING HARDER it will eventually work.
CF,
ReplyDeleteI refuse to get into a pissing match with you, it is clear that my statements were not about whose side you are on, because I don't care.
My point was that there can be value in what some people have to say.

What kind of sadist metes out a punishment several days following an infraction?
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't have turn the offending kids away at the door on prom night?
You black folks enjoy abusing your kids, if I had a nickel for everytime I called the cops for my niegbor, I'll afford my boat by now.<<
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 12:58 a.m.,
Seems your lack of concern to do so is nearly as criminal as the neighbor you allege is abusing his/her child. All it takes is a 911 call or a chat with Child Protective Services.
BTW, black folk don't have a monopoly on mistreating children.
And incidentally, I've have seen white kids who are so indulged and spoiled that the only people who like them are their parents. This is due to their not even putting their l'il darlings in time out when they throw a tantrum.
Hmmm...since I am a graduate of Oxford High class of 2003, I felt it was suitable to speak on this story. Yeah FN, I've been lurking on your blog for a year now but never post, but this story is STUPID. I remember the prom when they were getting out of hand then, but it is what it is. If the people's parents want to allow them to wear whatever then let them.
ReplyDeleteSince I actually live in this damned state, I should be on top of it's goings-on, and yet, I ended up missing this. Ah, well.
ReplyDeleteI remember my HS had corporal punishment that consisted of the Big Black Scary Assistant Principal (why there were TWO of these mofos, one black and one white, I never found out) giving you three hard whacks on the ass with a Board of Education™, with drilled-out holes providing aerodynamic assistance for maximal ass-whuppage. It was either that, or detention. Or a ride to the Youth Detention Center for serious shit.
I've only experienced this shit once and let me just say that this shit wasn't shit compared to the ass whuppins I got from my mother (and those were at half-strength -- the full-strength versions were used up long ago on my older sisters. What a difference a 12 year gap makes...).
So nah, the paddlings don't really work on "grown folks". Sounds like the school really didn't want to suspend any of these kids OR kick them out of the prom.
I doubt school admins are looking for an opportunity to smack some young "booty meat". The strip joints are chock-a-block with badonk-a-donk.
2) I know this town...Anniston, AL. It is a very small town with one traffic light. There used to be a manufacturing plant there...Monsanto or something...but it has long since closed. This is a town that offers nothing for the youth outside of watching TV and listening to music. Kids pattern what they see.
You also had Fort McClellan, a military base that became a victim of the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) rounds back in the late 90s. And you wonder why people in the Rocket City get worried when the words "Redstone Arsenal" and "BRAC" come up in the same sentence.
BTW, CF gets all of his info on A-la-bamy from Wikipedia. He doesn't know shit about this state.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that. Shelby and Jeff Sessions' staying power lies in their ability to grab wheelbarrow-fulls of pork and "jobs" for Alabama. For that alone, their positions are set in stone.
As for Riley, word has it he's had a table full of cash slid his way by Mississippi gambling interests and even a few of our own casino operations by way of Indian reservations. And because of that, his administration has pretty much cockblocked any chance for a referendum on any form of gambling, may it be a lottery, casinos or...get this...BINGO. Google up "Electronic Bingo in Alabama", grab a cup of hot tea and read up.
What better way to usher these kids into adult hood then to beat them with a paddle.
ReplyDeleteBTW, black folk don't have a monopoly on mistreating children.
ReplyDeleteGuess FN does not know that.
Mack Lyons,
ReplyDeleteEven though it provided jobs for civilians, I wonder if the population really needed the Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Agency and Chemical training stationed at Ft. McClellan. It could have been a case of Environmental Discrimination or an eventual incident.
This newsletter may give some insight.
I was stationed there in 1966 doing WAC basic training.
Questions have arisen about whether President Obama is doing enough for African American communities. But there are also those who say that developing a plan for the progress of black Americans should not be the left in the hands of one person, even if he is the President.
