Please hang with me a little as I feed my blogging addiction. Mrs. Field is still sleeping off a long day of shopping ("women be shopping") and I have a few moments to creep before I continue my vacation.
Sorry to see that there is still a strong anti USA sentiment in the rest of the world. That was a Mali referee who robbed the USA soccer team of a win over Slovenia in the World Cup. Ugly stuff. Mali Coulibaly has just been sent to the house. Staying with soccer: you Frenchmen better cut this crap out and try and stick together. If you don't, they are going to stop allowing all of you brothers to represent France.
Out in the land of Snoop I see that Laker fans are proving to the rest of the country that Philly isn't the only city with boorish sports fans, (BTW, what the hell is up with Ron Artest? )
and Tiger is on the prowl, once again, in a major tournament. Tiger, I sure hope that your latest accuser is more like Billy Jean, and not Rielle Hunter.
And speaking of the left- coast, looks like yet another maniac decided to bring death and destruction to those who are close to him and then take the easy way out. I know, I know, but what about the "Street Pirates"?
Looks like the military is testing out a pain ray gun (for crowd control purposes, only) in Afghanistan. It zaps you and makes you feel like you are on fire. Kind of like being in a microwave. And here we thought tasers were bad.
Finally, rest in peace Manute Bol, and have a happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there holding it down. Not you Tiger. :)
We were def robbed.

ReplyDeleteFilled Negro:
ReplyDeleteWhy do you assume that there is some motivation to counter what you have posted about the fool in Cali at the Del Taco Restaurant by showing the Street Pirate murders that took place?
I was hoping that the cops shot the guy in Del Taco after he raised his gun to them.
I have some videos from MSNBC's "Lockup Indiana" that you mus tsee:
* A convicted killer that was given life (30 years) instead of the death penalty by a judge who was anti-death penalty. The killer say that this was a mistake because he wants his "knife wet" again.
* A killer who was going through a PEACE program in prison had everyone fooled into thinking that it was working. Then he beat a fellow inmate upon the head with a mop bucket. The guy's head swelled to the size of a pumpkin
I work hard to study progressive-theory Filled Negro. You have to give me some credit.
Makes a lot of sense to file paternity after nine years and when Tiger may wind up with half his fortune.
ReplyDeleteField,
ReplyDeleteAnelka is not France's only problem. Patrice Evra got into a punch up with the fitness coach, who resigned along with the team director. The squad refused to train. Looks like it is the end of the line for Les Bleus.
New Zealand held Italy to a 1-1 draw, an event that rivals Switzerland beating Spain. Argentina is the only "big" team that have performed as expected after two games.
That big crumbling sound you hear are brackets around the world crashing to the ground.
Co-sign with condolences to Manute Bol's family. Bol was a giant in every meaning of the word and, though he may be gone, his legacy will live on.
Enjoy the holiday.
Happy Father's Day to all.
ReplyDeleteNow about Ron Artest. He could be the poster child for "seeking help"
Didn't you hear him thanking his psychiatrist. That was brave in today's world of so much fear of
mental illness issues in America.
I was always a fan of the Lakers and Fisher is my favorite player but now I have a special guy to watch and cheer on, this Ron Artest! Have ya seen the video of him making the sports announcer say "Queensbridge" It is classic. Look it up on YouTube!
Back where I come from everyone would say "Bless his heart"

Field, the refs have been absolutely disgraceful this year. I don't know what the hell is going on with them.
ReplyDeleteThe US was robbed of a goal, and a very crucial 3 points! motherchuckers!!! I cannot believe there is not a proper explanation for it. Similarly Australia got screwed over with a total bullshit call by some italian idiot..a red card and penalty kick for an obviously unintentional hand ball in their game against Ghana. Meanwhile a Ghanaian player tackled an Aussie with both legs-what is supposed to be an automatic sendoff-and got away with only a yellow. ARRR! I actually want to get on a plane to South Africa right now and strangle some of those dumbasses.
And excuse me for a moment while I hate the nations of Mali and Italy for producing such incompetent referees. Soon ill get over it.
Bottom line is, FIFA needs to fix that damn system up!!!!
Brazil v Ivory coast starts soon. GO IVORY COAST! Hopefully Drogba gets a chance to score. Atleast with the fact that so many favourite nations have messed up this year, others get the chance to qualify :) And the french make me laugh..their antics are so.. french. Responsibility of a cohesive team lies with the coach though, and Domenech clearly is not doing it right. He needs to be replaced.
On a more sombre note, I can't believe how the NRA can keep campaigning against tougher gun laws when tragedies like this continue to happen. The smartest thing the Aussie version of Bush managed to do during his term was restrict gun laws after a crazy gunmen went on a rampage here. The US needs to learn!
Oh and that ray gun is some star wars shit..scary :S

Do you know how this killer in California obtained his gun? Did he do so ILLEGALLY?
If not what is the relevance of your statement?
[quote:Gregory]Anelka is not France's only problem.
ReplyDeleteAnelka is not France's problem at all. Raymond Domenech is the problem along with the French F.A.
The players despise their coach, they have done for months, or perhaps now we can say years.
THIS IS A COACH WHO ACTUALLY PICKS DEFENSIVE COMBINATIONS BASED ON THEIR ASTROLOGICAL STAR SIGNS - FFS!
"Mais none, we cannot 'ave a Aquarius playing with a Saggitarius, c'est impossible!"
What an idiot.
Then, to cap it all, he leaves fantastic young players like Hatem Ben Arfa, Karim Ben Zema and Samir Nasri home in France, whilst taking players on the trip that he has no intention of playing (c.q.Thierry Henri). What kind of lunacy is that?
The French F.A. have known the problem for a couple of years, and have chosen to sit on their hands and have done nothing about it. Well more fool them, those pigeons have come firmly home to roost.

ReplyDeleteTrue, Domenech is France's big problem. I was speaking tactically, not strategically.
The Irish don't really have a word like schadenfreude, but we are enjoying the collapse of this French team as though we had coined the term.
I agree with Coffee and Cigs, the officiating has generally been dreadful. The second Brazil goal today was very clearly a hand ball, yet it stood.
That last anonymous comment was me.
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day, Field.
ReplyDeleteI can't hate on ol'Ron. I know at least he's coming from his heart.
GO TIGER WOODS. Now that's my boy.
I do not like Phil "THE DOUGH BOY" Michelson. He's the great white hope of the golf world. Wait, in some ways, Tiger is just like Jack Johnson. Well, Jack Jonhson did get in trouble for pimping a white women.
Soccer? I mean, are we talking about practice? But I do peek in, and I did see that horrendous call. And, I have witnessed how America and Americans treat others people in their own land. So I am thinking the ref had to get him some ass where he could get it. I ain't mad at him. Hell, he's probably a hero in his own country. I'm thinking something like Bush and the funky shoe incident.
But Field, we gotta get our boxing groove back on. I hear Mike Tyson and Evander Hollyfield have a fight coming up.
OH BOY, you make that call?
I don't think the referee acted out of spite or anti_Americanism. He was just out of his depth, and he panicked.
ReplyDeleteIt's a perennial problem for FIFA. Referees from countries like Mali don't get the big match experience to referee big games like this. Then when you try to give them that experience they screw up because they are out of their depth. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

For Father's day my wife and kids brought me a bottle of Mount Gay Extra Old Rum. The finest rum in the world, from God's own island of Barbados.

That's how to die a happy man.
For the record, those opportunistic hooligans that harassed "fans" leaving the Staple Center weren't fans.
ReplyDeleteThey come to these events to create mischief.
Unfortunately, the media insisted on calling them "Laker fans."
Actual fans, those leaving Staples that night, conducted themselves appropriately, and with civility.
Unfortunately, the media insisted on calling them "Laker fans."
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling that if HummZinger were White and alive in the 1950s he would argue that those Whites who attacked Blacks as they marched were not "White Supremacists" but here hooligans that the "news media" insisted on calling "White Supremacists".
It just so happened that they were yelling out "Go Lakers" all night long.
The fact that it happened AS WELL in 2009 didn't cause HummZinger to note the connection.

Damn. This is probably why the U.S. generally doesn't invest the time and energy that other countries invest in World Cup soccer.

The smartest thing the Aussie version of Bush managed to do during his term was restrict gun laws after a crazy gunmen went on a rampage here. The US needs to learn!
I hate to sound like CF here, but gun laws don't do much -- if people want to get a gun to do dirt with, they'll find a way. Or they'll just kill people via other means (knives, bats, bombs, etc). Restricting gun ownership with new laws on top of laws that don't get used all that often does nothing to solve the problem.
I hate Tiger Woo. His germy penis should implode on national television.

But bully, or not, I can handle my own. Obviously, I handle my own too well. Otherwise, you wouldn't be stroke hunting, and hoping to use me to get the strokes back you've lost to btx3.
By the way, I stand by my statement.
A zinger from Zing:
Where you end up depends on the bus you take.
The referee in USA v Slovenia actually had a good game, except for 2 really bad calls. One of which gave Robbie Findley a yellow for handball when it hit him in the face, the other, most significantly, disallowed the US goal for no apparent reason.
ReplyDeleteApart from those, he got pretty much everything right. But refs, like players, get judged on how they perform in the crucial moments.
No anti-American bias - he just f***ed up at a key moment, simple as that.
Brother Field....did not Jack Johnson violate the Mann Act...which was the transportation of white women across a state's line? Knowing his power to beat any man on earth (an american thing), he was antagonizing the white man. This foolishness was albeit short lived. He died in an auto crash near Henderson NC and he was denied medical care in the white hospitals. He died upon arrival at the nearest Blac hospital. The medical school/hospital located at Shaw University, Raleigh,NC. I remember as a youth in the 50s and 60s that white hospitals in NN, Va still had that rule fifty years later. Once my generation die off, a lot of "I can still feel it" racial angst will be gone. Fathers Day was a blessng, my kids came to the house and we looked at pictures-- had to remind them that we too were young and vibrant..Still is on some arenas. My new age-59 is my new 49. In my youth very few olddd guys >50 did much. I quess that generation had to work a lot of physical and psych depressed jobs. Seeing my father as a mechanic encouraged all his sons (6) to get educated for the work world that changed for a lot of Blacks post civil rights. The commenter raised a good point about the African reffs being on a grand stage thaT may be too big at the moment. That idea may transend also by a lot of white coaches for the Africans. MY FEELINGS ONLY. I think it will always be a sense that the Blacks have to be patronized/babied by sights such as that.. as well as how we be seen on TV shows and commercials. Majority of time we are the secondary. Maybe before I check out this may change.

ReplyDeleteQuestion:
ReplyDeleteWhy should we give a fuck about the gulf coast? They just want their money and to be left alone to criticize everything and everybody who doesn't do what they want them to do.
I mean, we see the damage, but why don't they seem to make the connection between oil spill and environmental damage?
I've seen more people on TV today complaining about the drilling moratorium than about the actual spill. You can't have a fishing industry with an oil spill, and you can't have oil rigs running with the possibility of another Deepwater Horizon accident happening. First, most of the people who live in that part of the world hate the government response but at the same time they want the government to take control of BP, but not too much, because they don't want to lose the jobs. Which is it?

Trapped, I totally feel you. Why would anyone willing let folks pump toxic waste into their beaches?
But, you have to see it from their point of view. To us educated middle class net roots bloggers, ocean oil drilling is nasty, dirty work that pollutes our waters. To people in the Gulf, ocean drilling puts food on their families' tables.
The Left has always had one main problem moving forward since the 70's -- liberal ideals often fail in the myopic American political landscape.
Or, a better way to put it -- because progressive ideals tend to function in 'silos' progressives simply don't have a logical cohesive game plan beyond their own niche issues. They end up fighting each other.
And the oil spill is a great example.
Yes, we need to shut down the oil spill and end off shore mining for the good of the planet (unless everyone wants their shrimp cocktails to taste like gasoline).
But, much like the West Virginia mining and logging industries -- liberal (often upper middle class) environmentalists simply don't put enough thought into what happens to working people once we save the planet, so they run up against labor union leaders.
The question becomes what does an oil rig worker realistically do once he's no longer able to drill for oil? we answer that question is an intelligent, realistic and comprehensive manner -- then we've made a major step in getting off oil.
The question comes up all the time for progressives from immigration (Latinos fighting Blacks and poor Whites over manual labor) or education reform (well meaning educational reformers butting heads with teachers' unions).
The Right fights the Left, and the Left fights each other.
I understand that. MY point is that the disconnect is so stark. It's like when you see you-tube videos of people at tea party rallies. You have a 50ish year old man bemoaning government spending and socialism, then, almost in the next sentence, he tells you that he is on disability and he gets food stamps.
ReplyDeleteHis part of the government dole is OK. It's just these "others" who are taking from the government, not him.
You can't evolve as a country when you have a large enough group of people who see drilling for oil as a exercise in American muscularity rather than something fundamental in our nation that needs to be changed. There is a reason why we fall behind. Because we wait until the last possible minute to do, as a nation, the things that we as a nation should be leading the world in.
I'm from a part of the country that was heavily invested in textiles until recently. Part of the consequence of that is that, for a lot of people, the idea of a textile job after high school led many not to pursue any post-secondary education. Now, when the textile mills are gone, there is even more poverty because no one too the steps to prepare themselves for a life without mills.
I feel you too. But these folks need to prepare for a life without fishing, or a life without drilling.
I think I have the major question. What jobs? Listening to George Will yesterday and another pundit speak of the what government's role should be in creating jobs. I keep thinking that everyone can not work at McDonalds. There's no shortage of professional people. The H1B visa's that bring in technical people, just brings in cheaper labor, because either the employee thinks the over fifty group wants too much money and that their brain has atrophied. Now with the internet the work doesn't even have to be done in the US. Energy cost have not offset cheap labor to make local manufacturing more profitable. Jobs like putting solar panels on houses wouldn't last very long once the market got saturated. Again I ask what jobs will Americans do in the future?
ReplyDeleteHathor --
ReplyDeleteI feel you, we can't simply say "install windmills and solar panels" (though, you're still going to need folks to maintain those things -- indoor plumbing has been around almost since the industrial revolution all of us have electricity and phones, but we still have plumbers and electricians).
But that's why we need to think big but cohesively.
Hathor, the automobile all but eliminated horse and buggy. But if anything, it spawned a whole new class of blue and white collar professionals.
Technology historically creates more jobs than it eliminates. So thinking that Green Collar jobs won't spark are economy

CF, it's too bad your team lost. Take it like a man. There will be other opportunities. You don't have to besmirch Lakers fans to feel better about your lost.
I'll agree to this extent...a situation was exploited.
That you call the exploiters "Lakers Fans"
speaks to your ignorance, both of Los Angeles, and its fans.
As we speak, the Lakers Championship Parade is moving through the city, right through the midst of fans. Real fans. Not those hooligans that you'd have us believe are part of that group.
As in years past, the Parade will be mostly peaceful.
You can continue in your effort to cast Lakers fans as you wish, but your much speaking will fall on deaf ears, just as your usual claptrap here falls on deaf ears.

LAC,
ReplyDeleteI see only the long term service jobs for the green jobs. I cant see the manufacturing or engineering being done in the US. Every thing is seen as a world economy now. Their is no country loyalty. Even military equipment is not necessarily made in the US any more.
Wrong. It's not anti-American sentiment, Coulibaly made a bad call. Same goes with the refs for:
ReplyDeleteGhana v Aus, Brazil v Ivory Coast, Serbia v Germany.
Y'all been drinking too much ESPN kool aid! Field Negro has morphed from racism chaser to anti-Americanism chaser. Usually you're on point and I enjoy lurking here, but this and the pro-Israeli stance are way off.
Perhaps you're out of your depth on this soccer thing because Les Bleus are actually 'sticking together', hence the refusal to train in solidarity with Anelker. Today, they went for training.
IMO, I respect the team and say more power to them because Domenech is seriously messed up. He doesn't respect the opinions of his team and its been like this since the last World Cup when there were serious issues between Domenech and Zidane. He was forced to eat humble pie and listen to Zidane for France to get as far as they did in 2006. This World Cup the coach has had bustups with Evra, Malouda, Anelker and Lord knows who else.
Somebody mentioned Nasri being left out - truth! That was a stupid decision. And Henry is fit to play despite that he's not played much with Barca this season, his symbolic importance on the pitch for team morale and crowd vibe should not be underestimated.
Part I
ReplyDelete@Trapped: "I mean, we see the damage, but why don't they seem to make the connection between oil spill and environmental damage?
"I've seen more people on TV today complaining about the drilling moratorium than about the actual spill."
As usual, your observations are timely and on the mark.
@LAC"The question becomes what does an oil rig worker realistically do once he's no longer able to drill for oil? we answer that question is an intelligent, realistic and comprehensive manner -- then we've made a major step in getting off oil."
You, too, LAC, are seeing 20-20. Internecine bickering has hurt the liberal cause. The country needs to transition to "green energy."
What makes that hard: We're too vested in fossil fuels--coal, oil, and natural gas--and these industries will do whatever they can to keep it that way.
As you've noted, it's all about the money, how to maximize it, and how to retain it.
Anything that threatens that outcome, will be attacked, either by buying off those who make the policies (our politicians), or threatening with layoffs those laborers who keep the oil flowing, and the coal bins full.
We're locked in a struggle, a life and death struggle, settling for short-term gains, while we kill off our environment.
It's a political struggle, liberals vs. conservatives, and this struggle acerbates the problem, as it hinders progress, and real solutions.
Political parties won't move the country forward by cooperating with the opposing party--they will be seen as working against their own political self-interest, which is to retain congressional seats, and to capture the big plum, the White House.
Part II
ReplyDeleteIt's an economic struggle, Wall Street vs. main street, and both streets vs. Washington.
If regulations are preventing companies from fleecing the people (maximizing profits), then they take whatever steps required to suppress regulations, or have them repealed, or they resort to outsourcing to China or India, or relocating to another part of the world were accountability is lax, or non-existent.
We have competing interests, with the people caught in the middle, forced to do the bidding of those with the money, because money equals power.
What we get, then, is financial reform that doesn't address the real problem--too big to fail, transparency, and the shadow banking system that's our Damocles sword, threating to remove our head from out body.
What we get is Big Oil, and Big Coal, and Big Corp calling the shots, with the Supremes giving these entities, year after year, greater power over the people.
Mark my word: We will wake up one morning, and wonder what happened to our democracy--and realize that what we have is some hydra-headed form of it, a democracy in name only, and not in fact. (It's practically that way, now.)
One day we will wake up and corporations will be running this country. We'll be a corpocracy, because we sold out our democratic values to keep a roof over our head, and food in our bellies, and we'll have an environment that will carry scars for decades, of this unholy, and self-destructive alliance, and soul-losing compact with the devil.
I don't need to remind you: The whole planet is an ecosystem. What we do to a part of it has ramifications for the whole of it.
There must be sacrifices, else we will continue down this road to self-annihilation.
Climate change is going to vex this planet for a time. We've seen nothing yet. We're seeing pennies and nickles in our change now. Think of what we'll have when pennies, and nickels become quarters and half-dollars.
We have foolishly created the conditions for massive climate change--yes, man has contributed to it, as well--despite what Rush Limbaugh and other deniers clamor.
If we're unwilling to make the necessary sacrifices, or turn the technological corner toward a sustainable energy future, we will, down the road, pay a heavy price for our inaction.

Don't think of me at all. I have no standard to maintain for you, CF, or anyone else.
I follow the dictates of my own conscience, not your unrealistic expectations.
For the record...your hero attacked me, by attacking my take on Lakers fans.
My initial remarks weren't directed toward him. Yet, he was still compelled to create an unlikely scenario, just so he could use it as a springboard from which to attack me.
And just in case you missed it, let me reprise it here:
"I get the feeling that if HummZinger were White and alive in the 1950s he would argue that those Whites who attacked Blacks as they marched were not "White Supremacists" but here hooligans that the "news media" insisted on calling "White Supremacists"."
I usually don't go tit for tat with commenters, but the above comment was egregiously provocative.
To make his point, CF had to change my color (to White), place me in another time period (1950s), and speak on my behalf ("he would argue that those Whites who attacked Blacks as they marched were not "White Supremacists" but here hooligans").
To date, I've let much of his belittling pass, as with his reference for me (HummZinger).
I haven't hit back as hard as I can. Yet, I'm more than capable of holding my own, and am not reticent to do so.
Frankly, CF isn't in my league. I can hurl insults with the best, and since they're founded in truth, can Zing and sting, at the same time.
I gave your boy the opportunity to back off--which he ignored.
If he wants a verbal fisticuff match, I can acquit my self by Queensberry rules, or hit below the belt, as the situation warrants.
My disposition is to play by the rules, a disposition that you should press upon CF and not me.
If you still believe that I haven't made my case suitably, then that's your problem, and you and CF can take a flying...I mean soar into the next blogosphere.

Do you ever consider that the LEFT has an array of BIGOTS as well as people who have honorable intentions?
Why is it so hard for you to look in the areas around the nation where the Progressive HAS WON - his policies are the prevailing order? Yet in many of these places they have lost their industrial base. Indeed the environment is cleaner than a long time BUT NOT BECAUSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS but because the PRODUCTIVE CAPACITY is shut down!!!!
The call is for more manufacturing jobs to be brought back to the USA. LACking I am not sure that the LEFT is ready to accept the total economic trade offs to bring this back.
Today one UAW worker works next to another that is getting paid TWICE AS MUCH. This is because the post bankruptcy caps on pay for new hires. Despite seeing the harm from high labor rates they STILL are going to fight to add to this load with each negotiating period. They will be back to the bankruptcy court in due time.

ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know where the hell is Field? I want to know what the rules are. Zing, maybe you can address those rules?
Is Field on ANOTHER vacation? WTF...who told him he to take a vacation? This shit has got to stop.:)
I am not anon @11p, but he/she is very perceptive.

The moon 'reflects' the light from the sun. The earth, the plants, the tides, and its inhabitants APPRECIATE the moon, and do not see the moon as a coward, or having false courage.
Your stuff is weak...very weak. Pray CF doesn't come after you cause he will shred you into confetti.
We're locked in a struggle, a life and death struggle, settling for short-term gains, while we kill off our environment.

Black Diaspora - I FEAR YOU!!! (I think I told you this before)
Beating inside of you is a Van Jones-type GOVERNMENT strong arm agent.
One that says "Capitalism be damned" and YET makes use of the PROFITS FROM CAPITALISM THAT HAS BEEN CONFISCATED BY THE GOVERNMENT to fund his GREEN ENERGY world. A world were we make use of "Unicorn Tears" for our fuel.
I told you previously that I would be more impressed by you and Jones IF you came to the table with a new PROCESS for the smelting of metal that used far less ENERGY than the present carbon based processes.
INSTEAD your entire scheme is a MONEY TRANSFER SCHEME.
Neither one of you can see that your entire foundation is based upon you living IN THIS CAPITALISTIC NATION rather than in the nation of CHAD where your green theory would be in place as you would be cooking your scrambled eggs using a sun oven - a shiny polished metal reflector directing sunlight to your frying pan.
Economic Oppression is the ONLY destination for you and Mr Jones. You will have your "boots on the neck" of all Americans - ECONOMICALLY until you get your way.
If you fail the first go round - YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP TRYING HARDER - Demanding more capitalistic fortunes to fund your goals.

ReplyDeleteLow & Country:
I will be in your state next month for my family reunion.
My family told the NAACP to kiss the backside of our family tree when it comes to upholding the ban against your state.
I hope to see you selling wicker baskets along side of the road. I will give you and extra tip if you make yourself known. I value your talent with crafts.

ReplyDeleteAnon - you are wrong on this one.
HummZinger has my number.
Each time prior to me posting I scan the posts for his entries and tremble with the notion that I can't measure up to his level.
I hope that my express order of Extenze Male Enhancement will be delivered tomorrow so that I can get into the game with HummZinger.

Your education is weak. It appears an analogy is beyond your intellectual grasp.
This is your last warning. From here on, it will be a
no-holds-barred grudge match.
Your Dark Lord, Conflictive Feedback, knows when he's met his equal, and his better.
You, on the other hand, lack the perspicacity of your master, which explains why he's the master, and you're his footstool.
Or maybe that should read his 'mute fool.' My bad...I get my analogies mixed up sometime.
I can honestly say that reading all of your comments on a daily basis has been a real treat. (especially when I couldn't get to a computer and blog like I wanted to) There is a book deal somwehre in these comments.
ReplyDeleteThanks.

And don't forget the hobbits. In CF's alternate universe of libertarianism, vaccination simply doesn't exist. Or indoor plumbing. Or electricity. Or roads. Or the internet. Constructive, are you communicating to us through your magical crystal ball?
Also, in CF's magical land of make-believe, liberals are the race-baiters and the good hearted conservatives protected the rights of the oppressed. Damn racist liberals and those nasty ideas like the 14th amendment, Social Security and Civil Rights -- keeping the good Randian Black man down.
Seriously, I've always wondered what conservatives do for work that they're so anti-government?
@Hathor, you're right, its will be a lot of service sector jobs -- but then again software developers and financial services (ok, bad example on the latter) are service industries.
The Green Tech of Tomorrow (biotech, alternative energy) will demand high skilled, competent workers. If we don't want to have to ship in our windmill repairmen or geothermal technicians from India, community college and tech colleges are going to have to get more rigorous and step up.
@Diaspora -- you're right, we're a bigger game right now than just BP paying Bubba Gump for his shrimping boat. But the question is, what next? Too many folks think to the right of Constructive or simply are too ignorant and myopic to see beyond today. How do we engage these people in changing things?
CF, this is probably one of the main problems I have with SC -- too many of our people taking things lying down. It shouldn't take the NAACP to boycott Myrtle Beach to get rid of the Confederate Flag -- Black People in The Palmetto State should have raised a stink and fought that fight a long time ago. Do you think Jews would tolerate a Swastika because some says "its actually a East Asian symbol of life and not necessarily about Nazis"? Two Words -- Hell No!!

Gladly.
First, don't talk with your mouth full, it retards digestion, and impedes comprehension.
Second, speak when you're spoken to. You'll appear respectful and, if done properly, intellectual as well.
Third, speak up. Don't compound ignorance with inaudibility.
Fourth, take your time. Volubility is not the same as sensibility.
Fifth, and finally, know when to quit. When you're in a hole, stop digging, unless you have a tall ladder, or a long rope attached to a tree limb.
And if attached to a tree limb, don't make the mistake of looping it around your neck, lest you hang yourself... which is what long-winded people usually do with their words.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we can. They're like children playing in a field. They see dark clouds gathering on the horizon, but they're convinced that they'll bring showers only, and move on.
They don't see that within those clouds tornadoes are forming, that a destructive force will soon be unleashed on them.
Here's what we can do:
First, we have to stop believing that the threat isn't real--that all of this is going to go away.
Second, we have to stop lying to ourselves. We have 2% of the world's resources while using 20%. This American lifestyle, which we mistakenly call the American Dream, is not sustainable, nor is it fair to the rest of the world's people to use up gluttonously that which belongs to all.
The Constructive Feedbacks of the world, and this nation, have to be pushed aside. We have to replace these agents of propaganda, and delusions, with proponents of truth, facts, and a strong tower of realism.
If we continue in the direction we're going, all is lost. And it's not just the energy crisis, and the lack of an energy vision of which I speak.
This world is on a collision course with a hell of its own making.
Second, those of us of a like mind, must mobilize, and agitate for the future we wish to create.
I learned today that BP has leases in the Arctic, and is preparing to drill there in the near future.
How many disasters does BP get to create at the expense of the world, and humanity, just so we may continue to drive gas guzzlers, and spew more
carbon dioxides into the air, gasses generated by fossil fuels.
If we don't drown out the voices of those like C.F., by presenting alternatives to their clear and present push to keep the status quo, and augment it, then we have no future--at least not one that we'll recognize.
Make no mistake: This is war. We're fighting for democracy, and the future of humankind.
If I stated my case too strongly, and too bluntly, it's because I see what's ahead. And it's not a pretty picture!
Anon, because No One is Home said..."You seem to be a little long winded tonight. What's up?"
ReplyDeleteAsk your Dark Lord, Conflictive Feedback? He, too, is having troubling keeping up...or is it, keeping it up.
Perhaps you're both in need of his cure for a lack of prowess of mind and body. He reveals:
"I hope that my express order of Extenze Male Enhancement will be delivered tomorrow so that I can get into the game with HummZinger."
@Constructive Feedback: "Black Diaspora - I FEAR YOU!!! (I think I told you this before)"
ReplyDeleteYou have, but I'm not the threat. I'm not the enemy. The enemy are those within your own household, and may be found among your own kin.
"I told you previously that I would be more impressed by you and Jones IF you came to the table with a new PROCESS for the smelting of metal that used far less ENERGY than the present carbon based processes."
The answer is simple. Reorganize our world, that is, our nation. It's too inefficient, too wasteful. Restructure how we conduct business, and how we get from one place to another.
Rapid mass transit could replace the inefficiency of personal vehicles.
Where possible, use telecommuting. Stress energy efficiency. Don't replace the fuels we use, just use less of them, and use alternative energy in conjunction with them.
We're energy addicts. Addicts overdose at times. We're overdosing.
"INSTEAD your entire scheme is a MONEY TRANSFER SCHEME."
You got to be kidding me, right?! Have you heard of ZIRP? The government has transferred to Wall Street bankers monies in the form of zero percent interest, and bailouts, to the tune of billions, and possibly trillions.
There's a transfer going on, but it's not to the people, but to corporations. The Federal Reserve transfers to banks our money, and they transfer to us their risk.
Where's your outrage over this?
"Economic Oppression is the ONLY destination for you and Mr Jones. You will have your "boots on the neck" of all Americans - ECONOMICALLY until you get your way."
I'm not interested in having my "way." Nature is the one who's going to have her way in this matter, whether you like it or not.
And she doesn't give a damn about capitalism, or the economy. It's her "boots on the neck" that should make you shudder, not me, or liberal policies structured to protect the environment.
"If you fail the first go round - YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP TRYING HARDER - Demanding more capitalistic fortunes to fund your goals."
Stop speaking for me! I have lived what many today would call a Spartan lifestyle, not by design, but because it was how many lived at the time.
I'd give up all these modern-day marvels of radio, television, cell phones, fast cars, and air conditioned buildings to keep intact what is now coming apart.
Sadly, you don't see what's coming. Silence may be Golden, but Ignorance is Bliss.

Let me continue to analogize my response.
I'm a boxing aficionado. Boxing is a lot like life. As you're doing battle in the center of the ring, or against the rope, it's you against your opponent.
No one in your corner can jump in to assist you.
They can throw in the towel on your behalf, or stop the bleeding of a cut opened up, or warn you about your opponent's left hook, or tell you about your opponent's vulnerability as they spy one.
More than that they can't do, without having their boxer disqualified.
One thing boxers and commentators have learned over the years is that a smile or a laugh after catching a uppercut, doesn't mean that the boxer isn't hurt, but just the opposite.
He's not only hurt, but is in trouble...and if pressed, and pressed hard, he can be KOed.
You are laughing....
