No World Cup and no boyfriends.

I watched the women's World Cup soccer final today along with millions of other folks. As someone who considers himself somewhat of an aficionado of the "beautiful game", let me say for the record that those ladies can play.

Congrats to Japan on their stunning upset of the Americans. Their country has had a rough year and the poor folks needed a lift.

Still, I feel bad for the American goalie, Hope Solo. Girlfriend is a little field Negroish, (I know that's not a word, so spare me your e-mails) so I was hoping for the best for her.

Oh well ladies, better luck next time. We will see you again in four years.

Finally, I saw the following article over at The Fresh Express, and I wanted to get some of your opinions about it: (Especially the ladies.)

"Ok so as I was watching my girl Judy on TV the other day, you all may know her as Judge Judy, yeah her, she was dealing with a baby mama drama case where the girl wanted some money from her baby daddy. The girl was telling her side of the story and in the beginning said that she and her baby’s father had broken up and she put him out due to “marijuana usage”.

So later in the girl’s story she said that after they reconciled the guy cheated on her and I thank God that my girl Judy cut her up for that. She told her that that was a lie basically because for one, she kicked him out; secondly, they were not married, so there’s no way “cheating” took place.

What I’m getting to here is, what the hell is a boyfriend?! I know previously as a culture we decided that by like mid-20s that word should be abolished but I’m proposing it be abolished after high school. Please tell me what a boyfriend/girlfriend is and how it fits into your journey to become a man/woman because I don’t see it. I stopped believing in that boyfriend-girlfriend thing right after high school.

Boyfriend/girlfriend is a title. That’s it. In no way, shape, or form does it signify commitment. Y’all can keep getting tricked into being “wifey” or his “girlfriend” forever if y’all want to, but I’m taking a different route. We all know one too many “girlfriends” that wouldn’t be so self-righteous if they knew what their “boyfriends” were really up to.

The way I see it, getting a guy to commit to this title first does not, nor has it ever guaranteed that you will see a ring, so why commit yourself to someone that’s not going to be around ‘till death do you part?

Ain’t gone happen over here.

One day I was just thinking and was like, “Ok so I want a guy to kick it with all the time and maybe do a little bump and grind,” but then I was like, “I’m a busy girl. I don’t have time to maintain a real relationship right now,” and then I was like, “and even if I do get me a man, I’m not trying to be his girlfriend forever and ever, we’ll eventually have to break-up if he doesn’t propose around the time I’m ready to settle down or he’ll cheat or we’ll grow apart.”

Then it hit me, why should I even have to go through that for a maybe? This ain’t spades and I ain’t putting no money on no possibles.

To me, commitment is a guy going out and getting a ring, asking my friends if they like it, discussing it with his boys and our families, then nervously getting down on one knee in a super cute setting that he planned out on his own.

Anything other than that is redundant. Why should I ever be stressed about a relationship that isn’t recognized by anybody’s God, nor does it affect my taxes? I shouldn’t. Nobody should.

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that you can’t control when you fall in love and I’m not suggesting that you postpone the feelings until marriage and I’m definitely not saying that slutting until then is acceptable but chill out.

What is the point in fully committing to someone you may or may not spend your life with? You can figure out if you want to marry that person without a title. As a matter of fact, that’s a better way to do it because there’s no reason to lie to each other about anything if you don’t “go together.”' [Full story]

I guess I want your opinions, because, now that I think about it, I really don't understand what girlfriend is trying to say.

Help!

Seems to me that the woman isn't making much sense. I think her point is that it doesn't make sense to commit to someone unless you are marrying them at the same time. Problem is that people aren't good at knowing whether they will be happy in a given situation. So if you are not committed, you don't really know if you'll be happy being committed. That's why trying it out a little while makes sense. That's why we have a few levels between "friend who I hump sometimes" and "man I'm planning on spending the rest of my life with."

Now, I do agree that if you want marriage, you have to go for it. If you want marriage and he isn't trying to go there, you're just wasting your time. Call it and move on.

  3. I think she's obsessing too much over labels. As a data point, I'm 47 and have no problem with "boyfriend." That's just a matter of taste; use "boyfriend" or "lover" or "partner" or whatever you're into, it doesn't matter.

What she's missing, though, is that what's important is the promises people make to each other. If your boyfriend or girlfriend promises to be monogamous, then that's a promise, whether or not a ring went with it. If they cheat on you, then they'd have cheated whether or not you were married because that's a person who can't keep a promise.

Both people need to understand what the other expects, though. If a guy goes, "Wanna be my girlfriend?" and she goes "Yeah!" and then makes up all sorts of rules in her mind about what that means, then I'll agree it's not the guy's fault if he breaks some of these rules he never knew about. (Or vice-versa if it's the girl breaking rules the guy never mentioned to her.) Agreeing in advance what "boyfriend/girlfriend" mean to you, and what rules go along with them, is something folks need to do if they want to prevent arguments later, but unfortunately most people just assume and then get into trouble.

That said, any guy who'd get a girl pregnant and then wander off without taking any responsibility is a jerkwad who deserves a good smack upside the head. Likewise, any girl who'd have unprotected sex with a guy who hasn't promised in advance to support any resulting baby for eighteen years had better not expect any help from him. (Getting it anyway is a great surprise, but not something to count on.) Babies are important, expensive and fragile, they're a long-term commitment, and people who aren't ready to commit to the baby should make doubly sure (pills AND a condom is a great idea) that they don't have any.

Commitment is inside each person, though. Someone who's a selfish flake is going to be one with or without a ring. Someone who's serious and responsible is going to step up with or without a ring. If you want a ring, then get one before a baby is even a possibility, but keep in mind that that's no guarantee of anything if the guy isn't already willing to be responsible and keep his promises.

The story shows that today so many people have no moral compass, which complicates their lives... They don't know the difference between what's right and wrong in a relationship.

It used to be a simple rule of thumb in the old days:

1.if your human heart tells you that what you are doing is not Right, then YOU are wrong.

2.If your heart told you that what you are doing is Right, then it's ok.

Relationships, whether it's a marriage or not, is about LOVE, which the human heart craves. It wants to love, and be loved.

Unfortunately, love is a mutual thing and often it can be one way with one or the other doing the loving with an open heart. While the other is operating with a guarded heart or just wants sex. That is a painful relationship.

This is a case of people not knowing how, and unable "to" love.

  5. Read the full post twice.

The point that I THINK she was trying to make is that she thinks that unless you go the way of "I Do", whatever emotional attachment you have to someone doesn't really exist or is not worth the investment unless it is sealed with a legal document???

I wish her good luck with the idea of living without labels. We are a world of labels: Mother, Father, Sister, Brother,Husband, Wife, Employee, Male, Female, etc. and not one of those labels holds any type of guarantee of a preferred outcome. That's life.

Commitment comes from the human heart. No law in marriage, or any marriage vows, or a Judge Judy will matter.

If the heart isn't committed, then you must 'think' and 'manipulate' your way through the relationship without heartfelt feelings. That always leads to deceit, lies and separation from each other even though you live in the same house.

It's a miserable way to live, but Americans are living that way by the millions.

I think the term boyfriend/girlfriend is juvenile, and shouldn't be used after high school, but people seem uncomfortable using my lover because we pretend to prudes. However, the person can be yours significant other without a marriage licence and be in a committed relationship. I'm not going to judge anyone's relationship and their level of committment. I will tell you this, if I should get marriage it will be with the guy who took care of me when I have the flu that's a sign that this person is committed to you when cares for you while you are sick.

I think marriage is a racket because the engagement ring is nothing more than the modern day dowry. You the guy is taking the girl off her father's hand as the reason why he walks her down the aisle as a way of saying I'm no longer responsible for her financially, and she's all yours. I question why women romanticize weddings as some fairy tale, I'm princess for today. Marriage is really a business transacation, and we have managed to resolve ourselves to the idea that it is about love. Love and marriage are not mutually exclusive. I'm not against marriage, but it's a legal committment and people have to realize that if they are getting married have to be sure that this is what they want and that they are willing to say and work it out. People don't necessarily get married for love, the biological clock is ticking and they want children, their friends are married, they are always the bridesmaid, companionship, financial security, partnership, political reasons, etc. Can you imagine that if one woman would admit to the guy that she is not really in love with you, but you'll do? I was watching Joan Rivers' A Piece of Work, and she said that she was not in love with her husband Edgar when she married him, but it was a good marriage. I think that's the case with a lot of people.

Civilized adulthood - what a racket. Look at the results without it. Surely you don't mean to imply that fathers are always responsible for paying for their daughters or that husbands assume that role in todays world?

  10. Field, I was sort of sad after I saw the USA team lose. But see, I'm going to blame that loss on those damn annoucers. I don't know what channel you watched, but on ESPN, those clowns jinxed the sh*t out of those poor girls. Every time they got a lead, dupe and dope started talking like the damn game was over. One time they even started talking about what one player was going to get from her father who bought her a Lexus after another major win. Yeah, and they did the same silly mess after that last header by the women whose brother had a TV crew in his bar back home.

I kept saying, "Y'all need to shut the hell up because the game ain't over. Then BAM, a short minutes later, the Japanesse were back in that ass. And Damn, I know the Americans played hard, but those were the sorryist (is that a word?) sorryist over time kicks I've ever seen. One went over the goal (OVER THE DAMN GOAL) and two of them, I could have stopped with my fat ass.

Fathers are still walking their daughters down the aisle. It would make more sense that the bride and groom walk down together in this day and age particularily they are paying for the wedding. There are some fathers who are playing for their little girl's wedding. There are a few that will go with their daughters to pick out a dress. The wedding industry $8 to $10 billion business and the bride's parents are paying for either all if not half of the wedding. In some respect it's still a dowry.

There must be a lot of pain behind your outlook on marriage and life. It seems so cold and heartless and empty.

The role models you saw and experienced while growing up must have been very poor in spirit and love.

It is obvious that you have chosen to live alone, and I don't blame you. Who wants to be part of a racket that means "nothing" to the heart?

Also, I'm not bitter and wrote that I do have a problem with marriage because if you are make a commitment one should understand he or she are doing it. I know that being married means that this is the person that you choose to be with for the rest of your life. You are to sure this decision without the slightest doubt. It's no longer about you, but about us. A lot of people do not know what marriage means and the reason why so many end up in divorce. As I said in the previous comment, I will marry the guy who will take care of me when I get sick because that is commitment not to mention he has compassion for someone other than himself. I would think anyone would want that.

She's trying to justify the relational situation in her life. We all must ascribe meaning to our situations and circumstances.

If it helps her to be able to live with herself, then I say "good". But if she is doing what a lot of Blacks do-- DENYING-- one's reality that is flat in their face, then it's not a good thing. You cannot get away from truth.

Police say city men kidnapped teen and glued his lips shut

MANCHESTER — Two city men are accused of kidnapping a teenager and engaging in a series of tortuous acts against him, including burning him with a hot knife and gluing his lips together.

Ismael Bangs, 19, was arraigned Friday in Manchester District Court on charges of felony kidnapping, criminal threatening, and first- and second-degree assault. He pleaded not guilty. Yvens Luclaise, 25, was accused of being criminally liable for the charges for assisting in holding the 15-year-old victim and videotaping the alleged crimes with a mobile device. He also pleaded not guilty.

The two men, both of Manchester, were ordered held on $100,000 bail, an unusually high amount that was requested by the prosecutor.

“In the one and a half years I've been doing this, this is the most disturbing set of facts I've seen,” police prosecutor Det. Steven Mangone told the judge.

Police responded to a call shortly after midnight Thursday, early Friday morning, at the Kelley Falls public housing project on Kimball Street on the West Side.

After setting up a perimeter around the building, officers caught and arrested the suspects as they attempted to leave out the back door.

With the assistance of a police dog, the officers found the alleged victim naked under a bed in the apartment.

According to the police report, the victim was shaking and “attempting to scream but his mouth wouldn't open.” Realizing his mouth had been glued shut, police had the teen transported to Catholic Medical Center, where he was treated for several injuries.

The teenager told police that he was acquainted with Bangs and that the 19-year-old wanted to speak to him at his apartment. After “hanging out,” the teen said he was told to stay sit down in the living room. Luclaise, Bangs' alleged accomplice, then locked the door and began shooting video with “an iPod.”

Bangs brought a butcher knife, cork screw, wrench and other items into the room, according to the police report. Holding the butcher knife, Bangs allegedly ordered the teen to take off his clothes and lie down. Bangs allegedly burned a rubber glove over the teen, letting it drip onto him and burning his abdomen, according to police.

Police would find a butcher, knife, cork screw, burned glove and other items mentioned in the teen's account in the apartment. It's not clear if police were able to recover the recording device.

Bangs accused the teen of being “a snitch,” according to the police report.

After dripping the burning rubber on the teen, Ismael then allegedly held a lighter close to the teen's lips and told him not to blow it out or he would cut him. He also stuck paper up the teen's nostrils and lit it, again telling him not to blow it out. The teen suffered burns on his lips, according to the report.

Ismael then allegedly applied a large amount of glue to the teen's lips, gluing them together. He also used a lighter to heat up the blade of a knife and applied it to the victim's shoulder “numerous times,” causing several burn injuries.

Police say city men kidnapped teen and glued his lips shut

    Part 2

After growing concerned that the teenager had not come out of the apartment for some time, the grandmother of the alleged victim knocked on the door of the apartment twice. On the second occasion, Ismael ordered the teen to get under the bed in Ismael's sister's room. He then invited the grandmother to look around, and the teen heard Ismael tell her, while lying on the bed, that he “wasn't there,” according to the teen's account in the police report.

The next thing the teenager knew, the report states, a police dog found him.

Police also interviewed a friend of the teen who said she had also knocked on the door and saw the alleged attack taking place. She told police that she saw Ismael put the lighter to the teen's lips, hold the knife up to his head and tell the alleged victim something to the effect of, “You run your mouth too much,” according to the police report.

So far, Manchester police say they have not been able to find any records of a criminal case in which the alleged victim had cooperated with police.

Now Jesse isn't stupid, he must of paid someone off to do the march. First he had to pay off someone in the gangs. Second he had to get permits from the city. You have a Klan rally in South Central,I pray no one gets killed. This is as bad as the eff black people rally that Glenn Beck has. The right want black people to lose their minds and riot.

    Steve,
Here are videos, flyers, phone conversatons all you need to see Sharpton and the NAACP made the criminals the victims.

Why do you persist in putting your foot in your mouth day after day? Are you one of those coons that just likes to argue even when you don't have a clue and also know yo are wrong?

Maude Ford Lee, the president of the West Palm Beach NAACP chapter, spoke alongside Sharpton while the assembled media were handed a flier showing the photos of three of the accused Dunbar Village rapists with the words, “Voiceless, Vulnerable, Victims!!” next to them.

As this video shows, when the NAACP was contacted about helping the victims in the Dunbar Village rape, they said “Black-on-black crime is not part of our mission.” But later, they supported the defendants.

And, boy – did they support them. They even printed fliers – calling the rapist ‘victims’

Even though there is conclusive DNA evidence and signed confessions, the NAACP and Al Sharpton are saying that it is ‘unfair’ to not offer bail to these four alleged rapists. They even had a press release about it.

The Reverend Al Sharpton Tuesday said four black teens charged in the gang rape and beating of a West Palm Beach woman and her son were treated unfairly. Sharpton said the teens charged in the June 2007 attack in the Dunbar Village housing project should have been treated the same as five white teens recently accused of raping two young girls in Boca Raton after a party.

Sharpton was flanked Tuesday by relatives of the Dunbar Village defendants. He says he’s protesting an “imbalance,” but doesn’t condone the teens’ actions.

To call these cases identical, as Sharpton did, is to ignore far too much. And to make martyrs of the Dunbar teenagers only trivializes real cases of racial injustice and further denigrates two black victims of unspeakable crimes.

    From another poster.

Open Letter to the NAACP and Al Sharpton

I'm writing to protest the recent actions of the NAACP and the National Action Network in the Dunbar Village rape case. As you know, on June 18th, 2007, a black woman and her 12 year old son were viciously and savagely attacked by 10 black men and boys in a West Palm Beach Florida public housing project called Dunbar Village . The woman was brutally gang raped for over three hours, tortured and forced to perform oral sex on her 12 year old son at gunpoint. They were doused with chemicals, poured into their eyes and the woman's vagina in an attempt to destroy evidence. They were saved from being burned alive only because the rapists could not find matches. No one called the police during the three hour attack. No one came to their aid when the attack was over. They had to walk a mile to a hospital before they were assisted by anyone.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2008, Al Sharpton and the West Palm Beach NAACP held a press conference accusing the prosecutor of treating those arrested in this case unfairly. You demanded that the prosecutor offer bail to the boys arrested in this case and not try them as adults, because this was being done by the prosecutor in another gang rape case involving white perpetrators in a different Florida jurisdiction.
Following the attack, vigorous efforts were made to contact NAN and the NAACP and enlist your aid in getting help and attention for the victim of this horrific crime. An NAACP spokesman, when contacted, said they would not respond because "it was outside their mission". Despite repeated calls to the National Action Network, there was NO RESPONSE. No statement on behalf of the victim, no protest, not one single word. Contrast this to the swift and vocal response Al Sharpton and NAN exhibited to the Duke rape case. In the Duke case, loud and vocal support of the victim and calls for justice for her attackers, but in the Dunbar Village case.......complete silence.

    cont.

If the 2 cases were even 50% similar Al and the NAACP may have had a point. They were not. There is no bail for torture.Something Rev.Al and the NAACP did know but tried to play the race card anyways.

My thoughts are that the writer, Andraya Mays is a young woman with her head on straight, Kudos to her!

She touches on many topics, all related, but what I understood from her article is that she objects to using light superflous language to describe a serious situation, such as the woman in the court case who has a child with the man. Also the usage of more serious words to describe a situation that should be an exploratory no serious one, ie.,calling a new boyfriend "my old man", or his family "the in laws" !

I agree with her. For example the first time I heard my sons ex wife refer to me, (when they had just met almost) as her "mother in law" I was mildly shocked! But I quickly realized that this is the jargon of most of the younger generation. (and I don't like to criticize the younger generation because there will always and necessarily be change):)
This generation is much less formal, and whether that's a good or a bad thing I don't know..

So I think she's correct because language reflects thinking, so her thinking and that of many fine young people today is right on the money! Congrats to her and best wishes!

  93. Oh here is the letter and evidence Anon so you can shut the fuck up now.

"A series of viral e-mails circulating the Internet the past several days distort and misrepresent the NAACP's stance on the Dunbar Village gang rape case that began last June in south Florida.

The NAACP does not condone violence against anyone. Any suggestion to the contrary is not credible in light of the Association's long history of opposing violence against all persons.

In fact, it was the West Palm Beach Branch NAACP and area churches, among others, that provided assistance in the relocation of the victims in this horrific and inexplicable criminal matter.

"The NAACP cares deeply that justice be applied equally, without regards to race, but cares just as deeply that guilty parties be held accountable for their actions," said Adora Obi Nweze, president of the Florida State Conference, NAACP.

The NAACP National Office nor the Florida NAACP have taken any formal position on the case and both believe this situation will benefit from well meaning, interested parties allowing the facts to become further known and letting defense lawyers do their work.

"The lives of the victims in this case are irrevocably altered in the worst way," said NAACP Interim President & CEO Dennis Courtland Hayes. "While we respect the judicial process and implore that equal justice be rendered for all involved, we must also focus on ending the continuing plague of violence in our communities.

"The NAACP and its affiliates will continue to closely monitor the proceedings and details of this case, said West Palm Beach Branch NAACP President Maude Ford Lee, who added, "Earlier reports that my remarks support the heinous acts of the guilty parties could not be further from the truth."

Not even announced for president yet, but Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry leads Barack Obama 45 percent to 42 percent among North Carolina voters in a potential presidential matchup, according to a new poll released by the Civitas Institute.

Forty-five percent of voters said they are leaning towards or would vote for Gov. Rick Perry if the election for President of the United States was being held today and the candidates were Perry, the Republican, and Barack Obama, the Democrat. Forty-two percent said they are leaning towards or would vote for Obama, and 9 percent said they are undecided.

“For the President to be trailing an unannounced candidate in a state he barely won in 2012 has to be concerning for the Obama team,” said Civitas Institute President Francis De Luca. “If Obama is hoping to catch lightning again and win North Carolina, he is going to have to hope for a weaker opponent than Gov. Perry or a big bounce from having the Democratic National Convention here next year.”

"When a group of concerned citizens contacted various African American leaders about the conditions at Dunbar Village, not a single on responded publicly. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said that they would not become involved because Black on Black crime was not a part of their mission, yet 7 months later, the NAACP came out for the first time in the case, but not to speak about inhumane living conditions and out of control crime, but to call for the release of the four suspected gang rapists despite the sadistic nature of the crime. They didn't offer a single legal reason for the release and didn't comment on whether releasing the suspects would place the community or the victim in imminent peril."

    Alinsky alert - Alinsky Alert!!!!

Oh stop with this weak, "look I dont like the source so deny the truth shit". Ever since Obama was elected and he surrounded himself with alinksy types, thats what you guys do best.

Look at the video - who cares who posted it. Did you see the video? Then??
Look at the flyer - who cares who posted it but Al and the NAACP made it and disributed it. Did you see the flyer? Then????

    Rules for Radicals #13

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...

"...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

"One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other." (pps.127-134)

Steve and mold are a lot alike. Both lack reasoning.

Both are brainwashed by the sources they read and causes they believe in.

Anytime they are presented with facts that challenges their beliefs, they become illogical.Than they attack.

They become tools that are used by the ones that feed them news.

    They are useful idiots.

So....gay boys with little peckers are more likely to take it up the butt, huh? Well, that certainly explains why Steve was always so eager to spread his cheeks!

I thought he was just trying to get promoted out of the galley.

  112. PC, thanks for the 411 on that movie.

I remember those days as a kid: Michael Holding coming with the pace and Dujon behind the sticks.

    That was cricket heaven. :)

    Shout out to Sabina Park.

    Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious...
You're using Judge Judy participants as context?? Really? Could be your first problem. Here's something to which I can speak with some authority... been married (not always happily, but we MAKE it work) for 35 years. No engagement ring. No churchy-stuff, just plain hard work. 2 kids came through us, 2 more came to us. We've gone through all the stuff; the lust, the stupid shit, the gains and losses...it's called life. What you spend your time doing is how you spend your life. Simple. The problem, as I see it is too many of you guys spend too much time watching Judge Judy, and too much time thinking about yourselves, and your own needs. That doesn't make for a good partner. If you want to have a good partner, you have to be a good partner. It's not rocket science. Grow some self-respect, quit focusing on the material crap (because it's crap & can go away really quickly) and spend some quiet time with some basic human values. You don't need Judge Judy for that.

Wow I had to comment on this post.

UTS you are a lying sack of manure!

I just don't see how you could lie about Al Sharpton's support for the Dunbar Village rapists.

    Shame on you!

Anyone with a pair of eyes knows that.

Exactly why the anon-goobers and LAA are all hyped up.

    They're exposed once again.
