No love on Labor Day.

Today is Labor Day in the land of the [some are] free. Although, sad to say, if you are a laborer in A-merry-ca, these are not happy times for you. You can't find work, and when you do find work, you can't feed your families with the salary that your employer pays you.

Obama was in Detroit among some friendly faces and he was trying to fire up the crowd by calling out the folks  in Washington. But O, always the gentleman, still believes that he can hold hands with republicans and sing Kumbaya. It will never happen. He must not have heard them in South Carolina today. They were all there taking shots at his administration and his policies. (All except Perry who had to run home to Texas because of all the fires. I wonder why he didn't just ask the big gal up above to bring him some rain? He claims to be close to her, so now is his time to prove it.) They think he is a tyrant and a man who is trying to fundamentally change A-merry-ca as they know it. So why would they even try to negotiate or compromise with someone like that? They won't.

"I also want to talk about the work you’ve been doing for decades: Work to make sure that folks get an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work. Work to make sure that families get a fair shake. The work you've done that helped build the greatest middle class the world has ever known. I’m talking about the work that got us a 40-hour workweek and weekends, and paid leave and pensions, and the minimum wage and health insurance, and Social Security and Medicare -- (applause) -- the cornerstones of middle-class security. That's because of your work."

"Why all the talk of Work, Obama? See honey, I told you that he was a commie."

Finally, what is wrong with you people in New York? You are getting more like Killadelphia everyday. Twenty four people shot in twenty four hours? Bodies decomposing on the sidewalk in suitcases? That is some Baghdad type s&^%.

Poor Mayor Bloomberg. He is under siege, and he is calling for stricter gun laws in the "Big Apple." "I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!" Good luck with that.

Still, even though folks are saying that crime is back on the rise in Zoo Yawk, there is evidence to suggest otherwise. But you know what they say: "Perception is reality".

Right now the perception is that crime is on the rise, and that could mean less fannies in the seats on Broadway. That's the last thing we need. Do you all remember what happened the last time that an out of work actor had too much time on his hands?

I bet all those folks who were down in South Carolina today remember.......Let me stop. Happy Labor day everybody!

  2. Given the current unemployment situation, I wonder if Prez Obama ever rethinks the stimulus bill which was supposed to help create jobs. OTOH, he had to do something, right?

I will say that it even in Metro DC, I don't have to look far to be thankful for having a gig when so many people are either under or unemployed and want to work.

If You See Something, Say Something:

Decomposed body found in suitcase on Bronx block

    BY Joe Kemp

    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

    Monday, September 5th 2011

A decomposed body was found stuffed inside a suitcase on a Bronx street Sunday, sources said.

The unidentified body was discovered by cops on Needham Ave. near Wilson Ave. in Williamsbridge after a neighbor called about 3:30 p.m. to report the luggage appeared suspicious, the sources said.

It was not clear how long it had been since the suitcase had been dumped on the block, but the body was decomposed, a source said.

The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to try to identify the body and find the cause of death.

How about this? Reality is reality.

IN fact, most crimes are down. BUT, murder is increasing -- AND -- surprise, surprise -- the only people committing more murders and getting murdered are blacks and hispanics, though it appears the death toll has climbed the most among blacks.

As usual, there is very little violent crime in the white and asian populations of NY City.

    That's a fact. That's reality.

The Time's Square/Broadway neighborhood has been jammed to the bursting point for the last couple of years. NY City is packed with tourists. The only factor that might keep people away in the future is the economy of the US and Europe.

Do you all remember what happened the last time that an out of work actor had too much time on his hands?

Well, one out-of-work actor wrote Hamlet. And another became president of the US.

    "No Love on Labor Day"

I'll say, with the mobster Prince Hoffa calling for 'war on Republicans".

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.

So now we have outright calls for violence from Leftist thugs. Thugs who extort union dues from working Americans and pass it onto Democrats, who then shovel taxpayer money into unions.

And these guys are your heros?

    Right.

He had no need for hand-holding or gentlemanly behavior when his party held both houses of congrees, when republicans weren't even allowed in the room when legislation was being crafted, when bipartisan meant STFU, when he rammed through, against the wishes of a majority of Americans, a hugley impactful, major piece of social legislation costing trillions of dollars without a single Republican vote.

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid couldn't even come up with a budget in 2010 because they knew the voters would throw everyone of them out if they knew what the hell they were up to.

Tell us again Papa Field how accommodating President Obama was to other view points when he didn't have to be. It's a great bedtime story.

"– African Americans are “cursed” by homosexuals: Willie Wooten published a book about the curse of the African American people. FN, There is a powerful Evangelical Movement that has been mentioned on NPR about this growing movement in America ever since Perry has entered the race.

    Check this out from NPR:

    Rick Perry's Rally

"The organizers of Perry's rally were from ministries founded by two apostles/prophets of the movement — The Call, and the International House of Prayer founded by Mike Bickle. Bickle, who led part of Perry's event, has claimed that Oprah Winfrey is a precursor of the Antichrist, and Engle has claimed that gay people are controlled by "demonic spirits." Both have served on the Council of Prophetic Elders initiated by Wagner.

"Lou Engle [has spoken] at length about how one of his sons has started an International House of Prayer in the Castro district of San Francisco and that his son is now expelling demons from homosexuals, and supposedly then this cures them of their homosexuality," says Tabachnick. "He has also held [prayer rallies] around the world."

One of Engle's previous rallies took place in Uganda in May 2010, shortly after an anti-homosexuality bill had been proposed.

"Various people got on the stage [at his rally] and promoted the anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda, which is a very draconian bill that would allow for executions for certain offenses, and would also allow for people who don't report homosexual history to be jailed," she says. "The apostles have had a long history in Uganda, and some of them have had close relationships with both political and religious leaders there. In fact, an apostle in Uganda takes credit for promoting the anti-homosexuality bill and was recognized by the parliament in Uganda when the bill was introduced."

Engle has another rally planned in November in Detroit. The purpose of the prayer rally, says Tabachnick, is to "fight the demonic spirit of Islam."

"In other words, [they want] to conduct spiritual warfare against the spiritual demons which they claim hold Muslims in bondage and keep them from converting," she says. "Of course, this is expressed in terms of love. They say 'We don't hate Muslims. We love Muslims. But we hate that they are in spiritual bondage and don't convert to Christianity.' "--NPR

Officials Say Confrontation Over Headphones Led To 2 USC Students Getting Shot At Party

    September 5, 2011 LOS ANGELES

(CBS) — Officials say that a fight over headphones is what led to two USC students being shot at a party being held near the campus.

Police say the shooting happened early this morning at a party in a student-filled off campus apartment complex on the 1200 block of West 37th Street. They say the three suspects in the shootings were not invited guests and were not students. The suspects are still at-large.

Police explained that a student at the party noticed his Dr. Dre headphones were missing. He spotted a suspect with the headphones and confronted him.

Police say when the student’s friends stepped in to help, the suspect pulled out a small caliber handgun shooting both.

Police say one bullet hit a female graduate student’s hand and then struck a USC junior in the chest. “The round she took to the finger slowed down the impact of the bullet entering the male victim’s chest and most likely saved his life,” said Captain Melissa Zak.

Police are adding security to the area until they locate the suspects.

Officials say they have very good leads and good descriptions on all three. Police are confident they will make arrests in the near future.

In other words, you're hoping and praying that something, something will drive the rate of murder among whites to the same level as blacks.

The number of whites shot by family members is tiny. A handful out of the annual tally that's been running about 16,000 in recent years.

Anyway, there are no guns in my house. But both of my sons have had some expert training in the handling of guns.

By the way, I'll gladly bet you a dollar that more blacks than whites are shot by family members -- people living in the same apartment/house.

Three Charts to Email to Your Right-Wing Brother-In-Law
    Monday 29 August 2011
by: Dave Johnson, Campaign for America's Future | Op-Ed

Federal spending dramatically increased under former president, George W. Bush and it has not increased much under President Obama. (Photo: Eric Draper / White House)
Problem: Your right-wing brother-in-law is plugged into the FOX-Limbaugh lie machine, and keeps sending you emails about "Obama spending" and "Obama deficits" and how the "Stimulus" just made things worse.

Solution: Here are three "reality-based" charts to send to him. These charts show what actually happened.

    Spending

Government spending increased dramatically under Bush. It has not increased much under Obama. Note that this chart does not reflect any spending cuts resulting from deficit-cutting deals.

    Deficits

Notes, this chart includes Clinton's last budget year for comparison.

The numbers in these two charts come from Budget of the United States Government: Historical Tables Fiscal Year 2012. They are just the amounts that the government spent and borrowed, period, Anyone can go look then up. Peoplewho claim that Obama "tripled the deficit" are either misled or are trying to mislead.

    The Stimulus and Jobs

In this chart, the RED lines on the left side -- the ones that keep doing DOWN -- show what happened to jobs under the policies of Bush and the Republicans. We were losing lots and lots of jobs every month, and it was getting worse and worse. The BLUE lines -- the ones that just go UP -- show what happened to jobs when the stimulus was in effect. We stopped losing jobs and started gaining jobs, and it was getting better and better. The leveling off on the right side of the chart shows what happened as the stimulus started to wind down: job creation leveled off at too low a level.

It looks a lot like the stimulus reversed what was going on before the stimulus.

Conclusion: THE STIMULUS WORKED BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH!

    More False Things

These are just three of the false things that everyone "knows." Some others are (click through): Obama bailed out the banks, businesses will hire if they get tax cuts, health care reform cost $1 trillion, Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme or is "going broke", government spending "takes money out of the economy."

    Why This Matters

These things really matter. We all want to fix the terrible problems the country has. But it is so important to know just what the problems are before you decide how to fix them. Otherwise the things you do to try to solve those problems might just make them worse. If you get tricked into thinking that Obama has made things worse and that we should go back to what we were doing before Obama -- tax cuts for the rich, giving giant corporations and Wall Street everything they want -- when those are the things that caused the problems in the first place, then we will be in real trouble.

  42. One of Obama's greatest defects is his insistence on negotiating with people who are determined not to negotiate.

Another way of saying this is that he puts process over results.

He doesn't want to be accused of maintaining the politics of personal destruction that he promised to reform, but he seems not to realize that many of the promises made in 2008 are as important to the public as mayonnaise on their collard greens. Or sugar for their beer.

  46. Internet Archive Compiles 3,000 Hours Of 9/11 Television Coverage
First Posted: 9/6/11 07:44 AM ET NEW YORK — For many in New York and Washington, Sept. 11, 2001, was a personal experience, an attack on their cities. Most everywhere else in the world, it was a television event.

TV's commemoration as the 10th anniversary approaches on Sunday puts that day in many different contexts. There is one place, however, for people to see the Sept. 11 attacks and the week after as they unfolded, without any filters.

The Internet Archive, a California-based organization that collects audio, moving images and Web pages for historical purposes, has put together a television news archive of that day's coverage.

More than 20 channels were recorded with more than 3,000 hours of television. Besides major U.S. networks like ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC, the Internet Archive has posted online TV recordings from Moscow, Paris, London, Baghdad, Tokyo, Ottawa and elsewhere.

The site is available at . http://www.archive.org/details/911/day

The archive begins at 8 a.m. ET, or 46 minutes before American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

That alone is interesting for the striking contrast it provides with the last seemingly carefree moments before several tough years. On NBC's "Today" show, Katie Couric talks brightly of "a beautiful fall morning in Manhattan" and the camera pans to a cheering crowd. Charles Gibson mocks his "Good Morning America" colleague Diane Sawyer for writing notes on her hand, and ABC's Claire Shipman said the biggest news in Washington was Michael Jordan giving hints he might return to the basketball court.

Out of a commercial late in the morning shows, even cutting one commercial short on CNN, suddenly came camera shots of a burning World Trade Center, ones that would dominate screens for several hours.

Newscasters were careful before the story became clear. Matt Lauer initially called it an "accident." Morning shows effectively used phone calls from eyewitnesses adding details beyond the faraway camera shots. "It's mind-boggling and it's horrifying," one witness, Jennifer Oberstein, told Lauer.

Then came one of many unthinkable moments: a second plane darting into pictures and crashing into the second tower, exploding in a fireball and falling debris.

"We just saw another plane coming in to the other side," Gibson said. "This looks like there is some sort of concerted effort to attack the World Trade Center that is underway."

Later, when the towers collapsed, one after the other, it seemed so inconceivable that anchors initially couldn't grasp what viewers had seen on the screen. NBC's Tom Brokaw talked of structural damage so severe that the buildings would probably have to be brought down – after one of them already came down on its own.

"The whole side has collapsed," ABC's Peter Jennings said when the first tower came down.

"The whole building has collapsed," ABC's reporter on the scene, Don Dahler, corrected him.

"The whole building has collapsed?" Jennings responded.
