"Dave Wilson is white. But to win a seat on the Houston Community College Board of Trustees in a district that is predominantly composed of African-American voters, Wilson, a conservative Republican, led voters to believe he was black.
According to CBS affiliate KHOU-TV, Wilson's direct mail campaign included a flier with smiling black faces he says he found on the Internet. "Please vote for our friend and neighbor Dave Wilson," the accompanying text read.' [Source]
I should have been angry at the uninformed voters who elected him. If we all did our due diligence as voters and actually looked into the backgrounds of some of these people we elect to public office, maybe there wouldn't be so much dysfunction in Washington.
Of course there is another angle to this story, and it is one that I am sure that trolls everywhere will try to point out: That it shouldn't matter what color the candidate is, and if black people did not vote in such a lockstep monolithic manner, the candidate, Dave Wilson, would not have to lie about his identity.
This, of course is a myth. Black people do not vote in lockstep because of a candidates color; they vote along ideological lines. Wilson did not only lie about his race, he misrepresented his ideological affiliation.
So anyway, ask people like Michael Steele, Herman Cain, and Artur Davis. Those Negroes would not beat the whitest man in America if he ran as a democrat in a black district.
I bet the Negro who ran as a republican in Gary, Indiana against a white Democrat though that he had a shot. He did not. In Memphis, Steve Cohen, who the last time I checked is white, represented a predominantly black district in congress. And he beat a black candidate to do it. We could go on and on. O'Malley in Baltimore, Ed Rendell here in Philly, and places like New Orleans, where Harry Connick, Sr., kept getting elected as DA in that very "chocolate city" for 30 years.
The meme that black people just vote for black candidates is just wrong, but clearly Dave Wilson didn't think so, and he didn't want to take a chance.
"He also included a line on the mailer that said he was endorsed by Ron Wilson, the name of a longtime African-American state representative from Houston. The Ron Wilson mentioned on the mailer, however, is Dave Wilson’s cousin, he wrote in fine print.
“Every time a politician talks, he’s out there deceiving voters,” David Wilson told KHOU, which described him as a “gleeful political troublemaker.”
Ok, I take it all back. Maybe most of my anger should be directed at David Wilson.
What Democrat plantation?
ReplyDeleteField tells us that's just a myth.
The election of Dave Wilson tells us otherwise.
"I should have been angry at the uninformed voters who elected him."
ReplyDeleteYou should have been mad at the racist voters who elected him.
It is obvious that all that matters to black voters is the race of a candidate.
He didn't hide his ideology: the blacks who voted for him agreed with his positions. Had they realized he was white, they would voted against their beliefs, because being racist is more important to black people than anything.
Cold busted.
Things ain't going so well for Miami in Tampa tonight. I bet pretty soon the Dolphins are going to bring Richie Incognito into the game disguised in blackface.
ReplyDeleteField Negro said in a previous thread:
ReplyDelete"Well, MLK AND Malcolm X liberated you, but I get the point."
Me:
How did the ex-con, felon Malcolm X liberate anyone?
The true legacy of Malcolm X is that every black male criminal today thinks he's a "victim of the system". And the masses of black people today seem to agree with this view. Law abiding black men today who have CLEAN RECORDS are considered punks, Uncle Toms and sell-outs. You can't condemn a black thug/crack dealer today (Jay Z anyone) because, after all, he might be the next Malcolm X.
Malcolm X is totally overrated. He talked back to white people in the 1950s/early 60s when talking trash to white people could get a black man killed but other than that what did he accomplish? Nothing. Oh he "wrote" his autobiography (Alex Haley really wrote it). Nothing else. And he changed his name a lot. lol
FN: Seriously, what did Malcolm X accomplish that has any actual lasting value?
Me again:
ReplyDeleteThis veneration of bad boy Malcolm X has led directly to this "no snitching" thing we have going on in black neighborhoods.
Note: Remember Eldridge Cleaver? The man who revealed in his infamous book "Soul on Ice" that he began his "rape career" by practicing on black women before he "moved up" to raping white women? Mr. Cleaver is one of Malcolm X's spiritual sons. In the years to come, Malcolm X will be seen as the father of modern day black thugs/drug dealers. It is perhaps fitting that his own sociopathic grandson was responsible for the fiery death of his own grandmother (Malcolm X's wife).

ReplyDeleteYeah I know, African Americans refuse to voter for people who hate them!
How weird is that?
When was the last time you voted for a black man?
When was the last time any Tea-Partiers voted for a black man?
I agree that blacks aren't typically looking to vote based on skin color alone. Obama didn't get much more of a percentage than other Dems have got; he just got a larger turnout. Which is obviously understandable.
ReplyDeleteBut there is "lockstep." No one "group" of people on the entire planet flock to the same damn party, despite any progress or regress, time and time again in such large numbers.
Voting D has turned extremely cultural.
There needs to be another option. R = racist. D = decided. Black America (specifically, but all America in general) needs more options.
I wish people would do their homework not about the skin color or ideals of a candidate, but rather their record of progress, their fields of study, what they did for a living and how well they did it, etc.
I can go pull a Jolie and adopt black children and say that I stand for X and Y if it's going to get me elected. But if people took the time to look at my entire record, they'd see the sham. But no one likes looking beyond the letter in a lot of instances. And in this instance, it seems as if something other than homework was done. Some metaphorical last-minute cramming, perhaps, voting for the dude they thought to be most like them.
Democrats blame Republicans, Republicans blame Democrats, blacks blame white, whites blame whites with ideological differences -- it's all a mess of herding people in together. There's too much lockstep across the board.
Do your homework, particularly on a local level, and maybe we can avoid more cities like Detroit.
PC, they want them in prison making license plates.
ReplyDeleteJosh, u made some good points.
Field the other candidate was black too. As far as the voters knew both guys are black. How's that voting because Wilson is " black"?
DeleteJosh said: "But there is "lockstep." No one "group" of people on the entire planet flock to the same damn party, despite any progress or regress, time and time again in such large numbers. Voting D has turned extremely cultural."
ReplyDeleteYou’re correct Josh! Large swaths of blacks are sadly within a state of political lethargy. Look no further than what took place with placing Obomber in office, who is essentially a moderate Republican dressed in Democratic garb.
Josh's point is well taken but how many Black folks on this blog have actually supported republican candidates other than me?
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, Black folks born before 1960 will tell you that the reason they voted for Pres. Obama the first time was because he was Black. And IMHO, that was understandable because many grew up in the Jim Crow Era.
But folks in my generation, born after 1960 had no experienced based recollection of these times in US history. So what was their excuse for voting for the highly under qualified Senator Obama over Senator McCain? I'd say 50-50, with about half of them voting based on color and the other half naively buying into the "hope and change" bullocks that propelled Obama to the presidency.

The overwhelming glaring fact that emerges from this David Wilson fiasco is that NO ONE in the entire voting district called this trickster out on his "fool em and pull the wool over their eyes" game! It should be a heart breaking embarrassment to every person living in that district to know that that ignorance is so deep thereabouts that not a SINGLE VOICE was raised to alert voters to this man's contrived political travesty. Not only did he make utter fools out of you 'all, but he gets to POKE his funky finger in your eye while he laughs in your face.
ReplyDeleteSadly this type of trickery against black voters in the south is not new. It happened in the 2010 Mississippi elections for U.S. Senator, where the Republican candidate pulled off some 11th hour ballot chicanery to win the election.
I know one thing, and that is this; when Mr. Wilson finishes his term, he will have made doubly sure that every black person knows his name, and they will curse the day that they voted him into office.

ReplyDeleteU.S. government has just passed a new law entitled “The Affordable Boat Act” declaring that every citizen MUST purchase a new boat by April, 2014. These ‘affordable’ boats will cost an average of $54,000-$155,000 each. This does not include taxes, trailers, towing fees, licensing and registration fees, fuel, docking and storage fees, maintenance, or repair costs.
ReplyDeleteThis law has been passed because, until now, typically only wealthy and financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats. This new law ensures that every American can now have an ‘affordable’ boat of their own, because everyone is ‘entitled’ to a new boat. If you purchase your boat before the end of the year, you will receive four ‘free’ life jackets (does not include monthly usage fees).
In order to make sure everyone purchases an ‘affordable boat,’ the cost of owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year. This way, wealthy people will pay more for something that other people don’t want or can’t afford to maintain. But, to be fair, people who can’t afford to maintain their boat will be regularly fined and children (under the age of 26) can use their parents boat(s) to party on until they turn 27, after which date they must purchase their own boat.
If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding; no you can’t). If you don’t want or don’t need a boat, you are required to buy one anyhow. If you refuse to buy one or can’t afford one, you will be regularly fined $800 until you purchase one, or face imprisonment. If you cannot (or don’t want to) purchase an ‘affordable boat’ from a private business, you can buy a starter boat from the U. S. government ‘affordable boat exchange.’ Such a boat will have the basic necessities (hull, oars or paddles) and will only cost ‘slightly more’ than a similar boat purchased from a private business. Plus, since your tax dollars will subsidize the purchase of a boat from the U. S. government’s ‘affordable boat exchange,’ it will appear that you are getting a good deal.
Failure to use the boat will also result in fines. People living in the desert, ghettos, inner cities, or areas with no access to lakes are not exempt. Neither age, motion sickness, experience, knowledge, nor lack of desire are acceptable excuses for not using your boat.
A government review board (that doesn’t know the difference between the port side, starboard side, or stern of a boat) will decide everything, including when, where, how often, and for what purposes you can use your boat, along with how many people can ride your boat. The board will also determine if one is too old or healthy enough to be able to use their boat, and will also decide if your boat has out lived its usefulness or if you must purchase specific accessories(like a $500 compass) or a newer and more expensive boat.
Those that can afford yachts will be required to do so … it’s only fair. The government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure to comply with these rules will result in fines and possible imprisonment.
Government officials are exempt from this new law. If they want a boat, they and their families can obtain boats free at the expense of tax payers. Unions, bankers, and mega companies with large political affiliations ($$$) are also exempt.
In another twist, this guy found himself in a Dave Chappell skit:

"A white supremacist who’s trying to set up a racist enclave in North Dakota received a shock during the taping of an upcoming daytime talk show. Craig Cobb submitted to a DNA test as part of an ongoing Race In America series on the syndicated “Trisha Show,” and host Trisha Goddard delivered some surprising test results to the 62-year-old hate crimes fugitive from Canada in an episode that will air Nov. 18. As her studio audience laughed with delight, Goddard, who is black, told Cobb that test results revealed his genetic ancestry was 86 European and 14 percent sub-Saharan African."
