Sorry is the hardest word to say, and Miss Sully goes down.

A few months ago Melissa Harris- Perry tearfully apologized to Mitt Romney for her insensitive remarks about his grandchild. She took some public heat for her actions and she would probably be the first to tell you that some of it was deserved.

Now I am hoping that Karma can be kind to Ms. Harris-Perry. She could use an apology from Jim Coughlan, the republican Comptroller from Duchess County, New York who is running for the state senate.

Jim Coughlan said a very mean and ignorant thing to Ms. Harris-Perry, recently, and it fits perfectly with the image of the republican party that has been manifesting itself of late: Republicans are racist.

This is not only some racism chasing blogger, Field Negro, talking. This is a sitting U.S. senator and former republican governor saying publicly what quite a lot of us already believe.

"A year ago, Jim Coughlan, the Republican comptroller for Duchess County who describes himself as “very conservative,” made the comment as a reply to this tweet from conservative blogger David Burge, who was responding Harris-Perry’s controversial MSNBC promo on education.

Coughlan retweeted Burge’s tweet, adding his own comment: “Keep your stinking paws off my kid, you damned dirty ape"

Of course, as is to be expected, Jim Coughlan had an excuse for his racist outburst.

"When confronted by the New York Daily News last week, he said that he hadn’t realized that Harris-Perry was black, adding that he was simply making a Planet of the Apes reference and not alluding to her race.

“I don’t watch MSNBC,” he said. “I don’t know about their stories or their journalists"

And we don't believe you. "If it quacks like a duck."

Finally, deep in the heart of Texas there was another shooting that has me scratching my very bald head.

"A 93-year-old woman was shot to death by police in the rural Texas town of Hearne, authorities said.

Neighbors said Pearlie Golden was a sweet woman known to most people of this predominantly black community as "Miss Sully."

The nonagenarian was shot five times, several witnesses told KBTX-TV.
Hearne police refused to comment to the Daily News about details of the Tuesday night shooting in the city of less than 5,000 people located about 150 miles south of Dallas.

A woman who identified herself only as Dispatcher Murphy told The News, "We can't tell you anything about it."

A one-paragraph press release issued by the department Wednesday said officers responded to a 911 call involving "a female with a gun."

Shots were fired, the release said, and the was female transported to a nearby hospital. The officer involved has been suspended with pay, it said.

Error

County officials identified the officer as Stephen Stem and said he fired his weapon after telling the woman to put down the gun she was waving around, the station reported.

"While it is too early in the investigation to comment on any of the facts or evidence ... I can say that this was a very tragic occurrence," District Attorney Coty Siegert said. "My prayers go out to the family members of Miss Golden and to the Hearne community as a whole." [Source]

This investigation should be interesting. I will try not to jump to conclusions.

Brother Field, when are you going to let go of the 'monkey/ape' business? The "New Black" doesn't give a damn about some honky using the word "ape" toward a Black.

As BIB has been trying to tell your political-going-no-where ass, we have much bigger fish to fry as a race than to be spending time in the sewer with some racist redneck who is a Senator.

Here's a huge hint. The racist redneck is just a race realist. No one cares about so called racism except you. Newark, Detroit, Baltimore, East St. Louis etc etc. The track record of failure speaks for itself. Only the excuse remain.

Field, "This investigation should be interesting. I will try not to jump to conclusions."

Field, how much more factual information do you need to reach a conclusion?

    1.The shooting took place in a country town in Texas;
    2. The woman killed was 93years old;
    3. The woman was Black;
    4. The cop who shot her is a White male;
    5. He ordered her to put down the gun she was waving;
    6. He then shot her 5 times.
    7. Whites are more valuable than Blacks in Texas and in the USA.

Conclusion: The officer is innocent and should get his job back. Also, the cop should sue the police department and the media for defamation of character.

Brother Field, is this the same conclusion you secretly adhere to?

    Not many people do.

She doesn't look very black. Like most prominent 'blacks', she is at least half white.

And why is ape a racist slur? Don't you remember all Bush -chimp pictures?

Did it ever occur to that police that a ninety-three year old woman might be hard of hearing and her movement slower than a younger person? He shot her not once, but multiple times. Smh! Scary elderly black woman???? Jesus help us today.

This is not that particular policeman's first time shooting anyone either. Smh! When the investigation is over we'll hear the usual. The officer was in fear of his life or the office followed correct procedure in the line of duty. Smh!

All guns need to be banned and banished off this earth, including policemen guns. It's too many trigger happy folks with guns making it unsafe to live in America. I think I'll make a stop the violence quilt or ban guns period quilt.

As for the racist senator, I told everyone a few years back to just sit back and let them show you who they are. I'd rather let them all come out in the light instead of staying hidden. It's better to know who you're dealing with than to have them skinning, grinning, and pretending in your face that they're not racist, so you can deal with them accordingly.

  7. Well, I guess no matter what age you can't point a gun in the direction of a law officer when you're a blah person. Now if you're white you can aim your high powered rifle at federal law officers all day long and even put women and children as human shields in front of you so if they shoot they will get hit first. Gotta know the rules of the game.

Also it is important to know if elected representatives are racist because they make policy that effects all of us. I certainly want to know.

With the exception of 1998, the 10 warmest years in the 134-year record all have occurred since 2000, with 2010 and 2005 ranking as the warmest years on record. 45. "However, this apparent recovery in ice volume should be considered in a long-term context. It is estimated that in the early 1980s, October ice volume was around 20,000 cubic kilometers (approximately 4,800 cubic miles), meaning that ice volume in October 2013 still ranks among the lowest of the past 30 years."

    2014 compared to previous years

"Including 2014, sea ice extent for January is declining at a rate of 3.2% per decade relative to the 1981 to 2012 average, or at a rate of 47,800 square kilometers (18,500 square miles) per year. January 2014 is the fourth lowest extent in the satellite record, behind 2005, 2006, and the record low January 2011."

The problem is actually areal coverage and not volume. The ice reflects radiation from the sun but if there is less ice there is more sea surface which is good at absorbing radiation thus inducing more warming which may begin a feedback loop making temps higher and melting even more ice. I guess that is some good news about the mass of the ice but it's still problematic. Let's not break out the party hats just yet. One year does not a trend make, there's a reason climatologists use 30 year climate normals to control for anomalous results. Let's keep our eyes open and see how this goes but as the report you gave and I quoted the ice is still decreasing. Thanks for the link.

"Your are an ideologue who doesn't understand the first thing about the 'science'."

I'm going to ignore the "your are" and not make a joke about you not understanding the English language because that would be too easy, Ha! But in response I will say as I always do when called an ideologue I am in no way making any claims about the effects of climate change nor will I. As one of my professors who is a noted climatologist says we have no clue as to how the atmosphere will respond to increased levels of CO2. It may be benign or catastrophic, I won't make a claim either way. I will say however much more study needs to be done on the matter and we should at least consider lowering our dependence on fossil fuels and the amount of CO2 we are putting into the atmosphere. Now, did I sound like an alarmist or ideologue? I think you sound more like an alarmist when you dismiss scientific findings by government scientists and claim something is a hoax. You tell me, who sounds more ideological. As far as understanding science I have a decent grasp of the fundamentals but I'm working to get more into the details. 65. GrannyStandingforTruth12:49 AM

Anonymous, that's B.S.! If that's what you choose to believe go right ahead.

Affirmative action was nothing more than opening a door and giving those who had been denied entrance excess. That's all!

Blacks didn't get a job or in a college because daddy or mommy knew someone or a family member was heading the company or through the good ole boy network. Nor did they steal other minorities ideas and claim them as their own to get ahead.

Affirmative Action did not do the homework for them!

Affirmative Action did not do the work for them!

To top if off, they had to be qualified in order to benefit from Affirmative Action.

White women benefited more from Affirmative Action than any Black person did.

How do I know because I WORKED FOR THE OFFICE OF CIVIL RIGHTS enforcing it. I was privy to the case files and know which schools and companies were racist. I could tell you all of the games racist whites played to work towards ending Affirmative Action. They never stopped. Finally, thanks to GWB, they were able to set up the Supreme Court with judges that they could bribe and do their bidding.

However, the real problem was whites were afraid of competition and that it will destroy their mythical superior race. They're selfish and don't want to share the socioeconomic pie or political power. It's got to be all about them all the time. Smh!

That's why other countries are so messed up thanks to the pretended helping hand. That hands out money with one hand, and steals other countries natural resources with the other.

Nevertheless, I'll let you keep on believing the BS. It's coming to the light anyway without my help. I think they're doing a fairly good job of exposing themselves.

I've met some intelligent white folks and I've met some dumb as rocks. I've met some intelligent black folks and I've met some of them dumb as rocks too. As a matter of fact, I can say I've observed the same thing about every group that belongs to the human race No group has a patent copy on intelligence.

The point is, if the government can assert the right to curb any human activity that generates carbon dioxide, they can assert the right to curb any human activity, because everything humans do generates carbon dioxide, including breathing.

Sure haven't. Every industry has regulations and we are the better for it. I can't dump mercury into Lake Michigan if I owned a factory right? Why not? There are laws to prevent that activity for good reason. I guess if you really want to use the slippery slope argument you can smack into the government controlling our breathing but if you step back and realize that coal plants and factories do emit tons of CO2 then yes we as consumers of air should have the right to regulate that activity. Just as I can't go 100mph on a highway Ican't emit tons of CO2 without some amount of oversight. Industry should not be able to operate without limits especially when they produce harmful emissions.

    ReplyDelete
  88. "I am still waiting for harry reid to tell us the normal operating temperature of the planet so the debate about the planet warming up can start."

it does fluctuate over time but we are now on a warming trend that is caused by increased levels of CO2. The problem is that the atmosphere also has cooling mechanisms that lower the temp but now those natural mechanisms are being overwhelmed and now we're starting to get into a feedback cycle that just makes the planet warmer. Not a good thing. We need to get ahead of this before it becomes a problem.

When Boko Haram were slaughtering other children -- boys -- our press and political establishment seemed rather not to care.

The boys and other victims were not in The Victim Class. They were usually Christian -- which is officially an Oppressor Class and not a Victim Class at all. Thus the media and political establishment blesses Boko Haram through silence, as you can't victimize an Oppressor.

To even discuss such a thing upsets the principle paradigm through which all global events are viewed: Victim Class righteous, besieged, and to be defended at every step; Oppressor Class evil, privileged, and to be attacked at every turn.

To confess that someone in the Victim Class might actually commit oppressive barbarism, or that someone in the Oppressor Class might be himself victimized, is to undermine the hideously-stupid Narrative the political elites and the press (but I repeat myself) have constructed to control the masses.

The one wrinkle is that it is girls now who are being victimized, and girls are part of the official Victim Class, and ergo, the Narrative is not offended by noticing the actual facts of the world.

  100. I dont know how this convo morphed into Global Warming...but to end all conversation....

    Here is my tidbit....

    Hemp is biomass champion...

breathing in more carbon dioxide (the most abundant greenhouse gas) than any other plant.

Hemp scrubs the air of excess CO2 gas - a contributing factor in global warming - as it grows.

Growing massive amounts of hemp - like what was done in the World War II HEMP FOR VICTORY program - can radically reduce the amount of CO2 gas in the atmosphere.

This carbon dioxide is turned into wood and fiber by photosynthesis.

Wood products using Hemp takes the pressure off our forests, a great source of oxygen, by making paper and building materials like pressboard from hemp rather than conventional wood products grown from trees...

    Hempcrete anyone???>>>

    http://www.americanlimetechnology.com/what-is-hempcrete/

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/10/hempcrete-hemp-house_n_1506662.html

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoYIBdzZYWI

When used as bio fuel, hemp replaces toxic with clean energy.

Whatever toxic energy can do, hemp can do better.

Hemp does not pollute while it's powering everything that uses electrical current, including the power plant that produces electricity.

Hemp bio fuel can be processed to run any engine, heat or cool any building, run any factory, and eliminate the pollution that comes from modern energy sources.

Remove the cause, Pollution, and the Effect, Global Warming can at least be reduced, if not healed.

CO2 is necessary for Hemp to grow using photosynthesis which turns that CO2 back into oxygen for the plant...

For thousands of years, 90% of all ships' sails and rope were made from hemp. The word 'canvas' is Dutch for cannabis; (Webster's New World Dictionary).

    * 80% of all textiles, fabrics, clothes, linen, drapes, bed sheets, etc. were made from hemp until the 1820s with the introduction of the cotton gin.

    * Until 1883 more than 3/4 of the world's paper was made from hemp fiber. Hemp crops produce nearly 4 times as much raw fiber than equivalent tree plantations

Hemp paper is finer, stronger & lasts longer than wood-based papers. Bank notes & archival papers are made from hemp paper.

The first Bibles, maps, charts, Betsy Ross's flag, the first drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made from hemp
    (U.S. Government Archives).

    * The first crop grown in many states was hemp. 1850 was a peak year for Kentucky producing 40,000 tons. Hemp was the largest cash crop until the 20th Century; (State Archives).

    * Oldest known records of hemp farming go back 5000 years in China. For more than 1000 years before the time of Christ until 1883 AD Cannabis Sativa was our planet's most important industry for thousands of products & enterprises producing the overall majority of the earth's fiber, fabric, lighting oil, incense, fiberglass replacement, lightweight sandwich boards, composite woods, kitty litter, potting mix, nappies, feminine care products, fuel, medicines & paper, as well as a primary source of protein for humans & animals.

    * Rembrandts, Gainsboroughs, Van Goghs as well as most early canvas paintings were principally painted on hemp linen.

    * In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down. Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs (Department of Agriculture).
