You might have seen the parade of one of them after another scrambling to get in front of a camera to give their two cents about the Bowe Bergdhal prisoner release.
The sad part about the latest episode of poli-tricksters preening is that they failed to do due diligence as elected members of congress and get the necessary information needed to do their jobs.
Fortunately, this did not go unnoticed by some in the media.
"On Friday evening, Rachel Maddow tore into several Republican lawmakers who skipped private briefings on the Bowe Bergdahl swap to hold press conferences or make TV appearances lamenting the lack of information on the administration’s actions.
Maddow noted that on Wednesday, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) left a private Senate briefing on Bergdahl early to hold a press conference demanding more information. “I learned nothing in this briefing,” he told reporters.
“The one he left in the middle of,” Maddow mocked on Friday. She noted that this isn’t the first time the former GOP presidential nominee skipped a briefing to make public appearances. In November 2012, he ditched a Benghazi briefing to hold a presser demanding more information on the Benghazi attacks. When challenged by CNN, the senator aggressively defended his right to hold conference.
“It is so much more fun to demand information than to actually receive it,” Maddow said on her show. “Receiving it is boring and it takes forever and it’s totally not like just going on Fox News and complaining.”
She also noted that Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) skipped out on the Bergdahl briefing this week to go on Fox’s On the Record with Greta Van Susteren to complain that the White House hasn’t provided sufficient information to Congress about the Bergdahl swap.
“While he was doing that interview, the administration was conducting a classified briefing for all United States senators to explain those exact things,” Maddow added.
Not attending or leaving early from briefings and then complaining to the press, she said, “is a new and increasingly common form of political lying [...] Getting away with this lie depends upon us being ignorant and easily led about what’s actually going on in that big, boring, catty high school that is Congress.”
She concluded: “If you’re skipping the briefing to complain that there’s no briefing, we’re not laughing with you, congressmen, we’re laughing at you.” [Source]
Ms. Maddow and like minded people might be laughing at them, but unfortunately that represents the minority view in this country.
Finally, this hasn't been a good year for Wal-Mart. The Arkansas company has been having somewhat of an image problem of late. Even though they have been down this road before, (on pun intended) it seems that this time it might be a little different.
Again the problem is primarily because of how they pay their workers, and the way they drive down the wages in this country while supplying their shoppers with cheap foreign produced goods that have been causing us to lose jobs here at home.
Then, just over the weekend, a Wal-Mart tractor trailer slammed into a limo van on the New Jersey Turnpike killing one person and critically wounding others.
This story would barely make the news and wouldn't be such a big deal to Wal-Mart, except that one of the people who were critically injured is a very famous comedian. Now the news of the accident and the circumstances surrounding it is everywhere, and unfortunately for them, Wal-Mart is in full damage control mode.
"Wal-Mart CEO Bill Simon issued a statement Saturday, saying that he was praying for the family and friends of everyone involved in the crash.
“We are working quickly to understand what happened and are cooperating fully with law enforcement to aid their investigation,” Simon said. “The facts are continuing to unfold. If it's determined that our truck caused the accident, Walmart will take full responsibility.”
Cha ching.
Still, to Wal-Mart, it's only money. There is a lot more where that came from.

ReplyDeleteNo way a Republican congress person would skip a briefing to conduct a press conference. That would be immature and cheap. They would stay in there, learn the facts and represent their constituents properly not make this a political issue. Liberal lies.

Have you heard that the chickenhawk "patriots" (snark intended) who've been protesting the prisoner exchange that freed an American POW because President Obama did it (probably with his big black @#^$%@) are now sending death threats to his (the POW's) parents? But some of the smarter republiklanners have ever so quietly dissented from the palinite pitchfork & torch crowd. Naturally that doesn't include Johnboy or his boytoy Lizzy. They'll never forgive President Obama for winning the election (probably with his big black @#^$%@) and they'd sooner betray every principle they used to claim to stand for to oppose him!
ReplyDeleteAll of the manufactured outrage over the Bergdahl swap is so revolting to me right out of the gate that I find it hard to even get annoyed at the additional silliness of the GOP Congress critters whining about not being informed while simultaneously avoiding being informed.
ReplyDeleteHeadline: Republicans lie and slander -- and have the audacity to show hypocrisy and bad manners as they do it!
This is at most an "insult to injury" thing, kind of like complaining that your rapist also wasn't wearing deodorant and smelled bad.
As to the Tracy Morgan car crash, I sincerely hope the dude pulls through and suffers no lasting injury. But as much as I dislike Wal-Mart, I doubt this is going to really damage them. Not unless it turns out that the truck driver was unlicensed, and that this is a systemic problem among Wal-Mart drivers. Or some similar scandal.
Earlier in May... President Obama visited a Bay Area Wal-Mart to praise the world's largest and most anti-union retailer for its supposed environmental responsibility.....
ReplyDeleteMichelle Obama's many appearances at and pronouncements around Wal-Mart have done the retailer more good than she and Hillary could ever have done in another decade or two apiece on its board of directors.
Right now Wal-Mart is approaching 30% of the US retail grocery market, with far lower wages, fewer hours, skimpier benefits, and longer and dirtier supply chains than its major competitors.
Gotta go along to get along....

Dear Bill, have you read about this?
ReplyDeleteLOS ANGELES (AP) — "Actor Taye Diggs says Hollywood studios hold African-American films to a frustratingly separate and unfair standard.
Whether a studio decides to proceed with a black-oriented film can depend on the success of other movies with primarily African-American casts, even if the projects are unconnected, said Diggs, who starred in "The Best Man" romantic comedy and its sequel.
In a recent interview, the actor said he and others who worked on the "Best Man" movies are eager to start on a third. But its fate is tied to how other black-oriented films, including the upcoming "Think Like a Man Too," perform at the box office, he said.
"Unfortunately, the business is such that as far as studios are concerned, they judge one quote-unquote black movie on how other 'black' movies have done, even if they have nothing to do with each other," he said.
That's "ridiculously" frustrating, said Diggs, 43, whose movie credits include "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "Rent." He stars in a new TNT drama, "Murder in the First."
"We've definitely come a long way. But we've got a long way to go," he said. "It's too bad we can't do well on our own merit when it comes to the studios. They don't like to take risks and, unfortunately, we're still considered a huge risk, even though I don't think we are."
"The Best Man Holiday" grossed more than $70 million in North America last year and was profitable, said Paul Dergarabedian, senior analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak.
Universal Studios, which released 1999's "The Best Man" and its sequel that included stars Diggs, Morris Chestnut and Sanaa Lathan, declined comment."
Are you satisfied now? Can you admit there are double standards across America against Blacks, even Hollywood, among the Liberals. This never happens to Whites in Hollywood.
This really sucks...Take it from me, it's depressing to be Black in America.
The movie producers want to make sure there's a market before spending their money? Racist Bastards!

Why do democrats hate walmart helping poor people during the Obama Summer Recovery?
Shouldn't trader joes and whole foods lower their prices so poor people would have access to non wal-mart food?
Why don't democrats ever call out the rich democrat supporters?

If you went to a chicago mall and returned home un-shot, that was the gift.
If only the liberal media cared as much about the black children getting shot in chicago as a few rich white kids in santa barbara all those chicago shooting deaths would get national attention.
Oops, there's a gun ban in chicago.
No shootings Just more right-wing myths.
And black children keep getting killed without a peep since republicans can't be blamed.
3 killed, 20 hurt in Chicago shootings over the weekend

Gee Bill, I see you linked WLS tv here in Chicago. That would mean it WAS covered by the media. Oh and BTW, I've lived in the Chicago area all my life and have never been shot. Of course you've never been here and get all your news from conservative sites so I'm pretty sure you wet your pants everytime the word Chicago is spoken.

What about ALL the poor people left behind in Obama's summer recovery?

Sounds like codespeak for get those poor white people off taxpayer dole.
Paying walmart employees more still doesn't help the millions and millions and millions of poor people on a limited budget that are forced to shop at walmart because of their low prices.
Why do democrats hate poor people.
Why not national coverage of white kids accidently shooting themselves or their families. It's as if the conservative media doesn't care about little white kids getting shot. I guess since Obama didn't pull the trigger no one really cares huh? Where is the NRA outrage that there are irresponsible gun owners? Oh that's right, we only care when a blah kills a white then its 24/7 on Fox.

Union workers enjoy higher wages and better benefits than their non-union counterparts (Bill can attest to this) and yet Walmart and Repubs fight against unions. No, I avoided black areas:
Chicago's demographics are 33 percent black, 32 percent white, and 29 percent Hispanic. The rates of nonfatal gunshot injury for Chicago was broken down for these three groups for the years 2006-2012.
It’s 1.62 per 100,000 for whites; 28.72 for Hispanics, and 112.83 for blacks.
For all males, it’s 44.68 per 100,000; 239.77 for black males, and for black males from 18-34 it’s 599.65. As Papachristos and co-authors Christopher Wildeman and Elizabeth Roberto point out, that’s a staggering one in 200.
Guns don't kill/maim people, dangerous minorities do.

Everybody negotiates with terrorists, in the end you have to. You don't make peace with your friends, you make peace with your enemies.
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton's new book is out and she's charged up her Hoveround for a media tour.
ReplyDeleteShe's taking this opportunity to remind America that like them she knows what it's like to struggle in tough financial times:
“We came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt.”
According to Clinton, she and her husband, who has made over $100 million since leaving the White House, “struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea’s education, you know, it was not easy.
Hmmm, that doesn't sound....right.
Let's look back to how the Clintons left the White House:
Hillary Clinton Book Advance, $8 Million, Is Near Record By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK Published: December 16, 2000
Senator-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton agreed last night to sell Simon & Schuster a memoir of her years as first lady, for the near-record advance of about $8 million.
December 16, 2000 seems to be a bit earlier than January 20th, 2001 which was the date that the Clinton's "left the White House".
She was also making $186,600 as a US Senator.
Bill was pulling down $200K in pension as an ex-President (that's just cash and doesn't include office staff, protection, etc).
Of course that was just to hold him over until August of 2001 when he signed his own book deal which was worth....$10 million.
$18 million in 8 months. It's a wonder they ever made it through.
Hell, they probably had to consider sending Chelsea to the local community college or something.
Thank God that with some tough choices, thrifty habits and aggressive coupon clipping, these plucky kids made it through.
See, they are just like you!

The South Side where you live is an entirely different ball game of life. You probably don't know there are great areas in Chicago, which are perfectly safe. In fact, if you live along the Gold Coast, or the Lincoln Park area or near Navy Pier, Chicago is one of the best Cities in the world.
However, if you live on the South Side, it's a dangerous place. One can get shot at any time and place. I know you don't know much about the 'other' aspects of Chicago because most brothers like you haven't had that 'Chicago Experience.'
But if Bill is White, he has most definitely had the Chicago Experience. FYI: Whites don't get gunned down in Chicago. Only Blacks on the South Side do.
You see, there are different aspects to Chicago...the beautiful and good...then there is the ugly and bad.

ReplyDeleteObviously not true, lived on the southside for years and no bullet holes I'm aware of.
Seems like Las Vegas is a bit more dangerous, I mean if you're a cop and insane white anti-government types are around. They should have known better because nothing says dangerous like white folks with guns and nazi flags. Just say'n.
"(Reuters) - Law enforcement officials are looking into whether a man and woman who killed two Las Vegas police officers and a third person before killing themselves Sunday had links to the white supremacy movement, according to a report on Monday.
ReplyDeleteThe Las Vegas Review-Journal, citing city law enforcement sources, said investigators discovered paraphernalia associated with white supremacists, including swastika symbols, but it was not clear where the items was found.
The newspaper's report also said the shooters covered the officers' bodies with something featuring the Revolutionary War-era Gadsden flag. The yellow flag, which contains an image of a coiled snake and the words "Don't tread on me," is associated with the conservative Tea Party political movement."
Glad no insane white folks are running around on the southside of Chicago or I might get shot but since it's only us blah folks I can enjoy a nice sunny day.

Killed 2 white cops.
That's how politically correct the KKK has gotten.
In the old days when democrats ran the KKK...
"The .45-caliber pistol that killed Lucas Heagren, 3, on Memorial Day last year at his Ohio home had been temporarily hidden under the couch by his father. But Lucas found it and shot himself through the right eye. “It’s bad,” his mother told the 911 dispatcher. “It’s really bad.”
ReplyDeleteA few days later in Georgia, Cassie Culpepper, 11, was riding in the back of a pickup with her 12-year-old brother and two other children. Her brother started playing with a pistol his father had lent him to scare coyotes. Believing he had removed all the bullets, he pointed the pistol at his sister and squeezed the trigger. It fired, and blood poured from Cassie’s mouth.
Just a few weeks earlier, in Houston, a group of youths found a Glock pistol in an apartment closet while searching for snack money. A 15-year-old boy was handling the gun when it went off. Alex Whitfield, who had just turned 11, was struck. A relative found the bullet in his ashes from the funeral home."
Why no national coverage? Don't we care about little Cassies? I guess not unless we can blame Obama.

"When white Democrat/Liberals politicians use the n-word, you don't call them out or hold them to the same standards has you do non-Democrat/Liberal politicians."
ReplyDeleteWhich white Democrats/Liberals are you referring to?"
See that Bill? That was the question he asked you. Did you answer?

I guess not unless we can blame Obama.
That's only for faux news.
The other networks avoid any bad news for Obama.
Find it yet Bill or did you just pull that out of your ass? My bet is the latter. We'll wait. Tick tock tick tock.
ReplyDelete"That's only for faux news."
ReplyDeleteExactly right. So even the conservative media doesn't care about little white kids getting shot. Kinda sad.

No.
Are you insinuating PurpleCow is not able to google for himself?
I do understand it's your obligation to protect your party from all attacks.
Do you follow PurpleCow around asking if he answered my question weeks ago about what has Obama done?
Not all questions all equal.

Great rebuttal.
Fox does it too.
Just like your "bush did it too" eexcuses for Obama.
What happened to you holding democrats to a higher standard?

"(Reuters) - Law enforcement officials are looking into whether a man and woman who killed two Las Vegas police officers
Just imagine...
If the male shooter's daddy has a lot of money for a high priced lawyer, his son could get off as an unindicted co-conspirator and in a few years pal around with a future left-wing president.
The new American dream.
Not all anti-government police killers are equal.
Bill vs. PilotX
ReplyDelete"Are you insinuating PurpleCow is not able to google for himself?"
ReplyDeleteNope, we're saying you just made it up out of thin air like a lot of the stuff you post. You make a claim about white liberal/Dems using the n-word but have no proof. As usual Bill makes up stuff to play tit for tat.
See PC, we were right.
Retard fight and common sense...
ReplyDeleteI get it Bill, you can't back up what you post. No surprise there. Carry on. I come to expect this from conservatives.

Big difference between can't and won't.
Let me cite an example FN pointed out- Gloria Platko. An elected democrat no less, not just some private citizen.

ReplyDeleteBy all means continue to point out your own hypocrisy about your Dumb ass Walmart Post..
I just pointed out that your Lord and Saviors O-Bomber ,and Michelle absolutely Love ..Walmart... and they routinely WILL NOT comment about the laborers struggle to get a deccent wage from Walmart.
I mean you usually agree with everything that is O-bomber so why not this too??
Why must you go against the grain talking about a Standup Corporate Citizen like Walmart...??
Just saying....
So.....43% of Americans disapprove of the way that President Obama handled the Taliban/Berghdal POW swap. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to which 43% that is?
ReplyDeleteTalk about white privilege. One white man is worth 5 brown men.

"PC, you get the dunce cap of the week...LOL...But I understand 'why' you made the comment: You are an Obamaholic who worships Obama like your FN Negro friends like PX and Dr Nuwang do. As usual, it leads to simplistic deep naivete. You poor boy."
Congratulations little man, you've proven yourself to be as stupid as Bill.
You must be very proud.
Holy shit, after days Bill found ONE dem who allegedly used the n-word. Good job. Wanna try for double your money and see if you can find racist remarks made by a Republican? I bet that should be easier.
