Finally, I want to give a big thank you out to venerable Philly journalist, Elmer Smith, and the folks of the Burlington Tabernacle Baptist Church for hosting a wonderful event yesterday. (Shout out to Ms. Dawn for that serious lunch.)
I was honored to be on a panel with some great writers, journalists, and giants of media in the Philadelphia area. Jasmine Alexander; Richard Aregood; Art Fennell; Annette John-Hall; Karen Turner; and my good friend, Solomon Jones. These folks all helped to make it a day worth remembering.
I have to also give a special shout out to Stephen Smith of ESPN, who also made it a point to be there even though the LeBron James story was breaking at the exact time that the program was going on.
The kids who were there, and the up and coming bloggers, were wonderful and engaged, and I was humbled by their eagerness to learn and to listen to the knowledge that I --and others present-- was fortunate enough to be in a position to share with them.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading several articles I discovered I was completely wrong on my first impression. In fact, after I read the comments I thought this was one of the most common sense blogs I've read in a longtime.
As an older white male, I'm disgusted by what I'm reading from Republicans, and particularly from members of the Tea Party. Ever since Obama got elected it seems the type of racism we saw in the 50"s and 60's has suddenly come alive. I would have never guessed we still that many people in our country who are racist.
Getting out to vote has got to become a major cause in the black communities if you want to be heard and be a factor in legislation.
I live in Florida and I have been amazed what our governor and the Republican legislature has done to make it harder for blacks to vote. It's very obvious they are targeting black voters, but I've heard very little from the black leaders.
I hope this blog continues to be successful, and and also hope that it grows so more people will be able to read.

I agree that black leaders are not vocal. I sometimes wonder if there are any black leaders at all. I also wonder why I don't hear from Whites who see that the GOP is clearly targeting Blacks.
I don't know what the answer is but I know Blacks can't do this by themselves. They truly need white support, which seems to be non-existent...much like black leadership seems to be nonexistent.

Compare that the league leader of Austin which has a goodification rate of less than 20%. Due to rain delay the overnight tabulation has yet to be figured. With another day to go, the bangers are nearing the expected 30 wounded with 3 confirmed dead and another probable in the box.

The neighborhood is officially known as Chicago Lawn. Marquette Park itself is right in the middle of the place, hence the nickname. It's hardly White, but it is well over 50% Black and shows it. Coming up from Indie you take 65 to 90 where you pass up another Mecca of Black civilization called Gary. BTW the Gary airport is just off the highway.

That elderly lady is not a trained boxer or martial arts expert that's conditioned to take punches to the face.
After reading the article stating her injuries, I doubt very seriously if she is used to someone punching her in her face or head.
Btw, the media only wrote what the lawyer said. I watched and listened to her lawyer during the interview and these were the lawyer's exact words.

Come on Granny. Everybody knows there is a big difference in Black and White bodies, esp bw and ww. You can look at their legs and thighs and calves. There is definitely a major difference.
