The Field Negro education series continues:
Tonight we here from Stereo Williams. (Stereo? Ok then.)
The New Black doesn’t blame other races for our issues.”
So decreed Pharrell Williams when the hit-making superstar spoke to Oprah last summer about the current racial climate in America. In the months following the release of Pharrell’s sugary soul-pop hit “Happy,” the country struggled through a summer that saw a string of high-profile cases involving police killing innocent black citizens. But while speaking to Oprah, and having watched clips of fans paying tribute to his uber-cheerful single, Pharrell decided to advertise a “new” mindset for black people to adopt—one of good ol’ positive thinking.
“The New Black dreams and realizes that it’s not pigmentation: it’s a mentality, and it’s either going to work for you or it’s going to work against you. And you’ve got to pick the side you’re going to be on,” Pharrell said.
His words were laughably empty and insulting to the current climate, the history of black ambition in the face of tremendous cultural oppression, and the reality of institutional racism; but they also represented a vocal cadre of black celebritydom that is calling for the black community to basically “get over it.” With the racial conversation in the national spotlight, stars like Williams, Kanye West, and others aren’t addressing racism in as much as they are deflecting the conversation.
Rapper/actor Common appeared on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart last week to promote his new film Run All Night. Alongside singer-songwriter John Legend, the Chicago rhymer won an Oscar in February for “Glory,” the theme song from the Martin Luther King biopic Selma. While discussing the legacy of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement and the current tensions, Stewart expressed what he’s seen from white people who are resistant to discussing structural racism.
There’s a real vein of anger, like ‘Hey, man—I didn’t have slaves!’” Stewart stated. “But they’re not talking about that, they’re talking about a power structure.”
Common, while not countering Stewart’s statement, offered his perspective on the way to heal wounds that have existed on American soil for centuries.
“We all know there’s been some bad history in our country. We know that racism exists,” the star conceded, before adding, “I’m…extending a hand. And I think a lot of generations and different cultures are saying ‘Hey, we want to get past this. We’ve been bullied and we’ve been beat down, but we don’t want it anymore. We’re not extending a fist and saying, ‘Hey, you did us wrong.’ It’s more like ‘Hey, I’m extending my hand in love. Let’s forget about the past as much as we can, and let’s move from where we are now. How can we help each other? Can you try to help us because we’re going to help ourselves, too.’ That’s really where we are right now.”
“Me as a black man, I’m not sitting there like, ‘White people—y’all did us wrong,’” Common continued. “I mean we know that that existed. I don’t even have to keep bringing that up. It’s like being in a relationship and continuing to bring up the person’s issues.”
Throughout the interview, Common continued to liken American race relations to a difficult romantic relationship (“Let’s get past this”) while echoing comments he’s made both during his Oscar speech in February and in recent interviews. Common wants us all to love each other. His Oscar speech was a sentimental bear hug, the kind of expression of superficial “unity” that tugs at the heartstrings without forcing anyone to think deeper about the specifics of conflict. While turning the Edmond Pettis Bridge—where people marching for the right to vote were beaten by officers of the state—into a symbol for this “unity,” his sentimentality is an easy pill for the Oscar crowd to swallow. “The spirit of this bridge transcends race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and social status. The spirit of this bridge connects the kid from the South Side of Chicago dreaming of a better life to those in France standing up for their freedom of expression, to the people in Hong Kong protesting for democracy,” Common said at the Oscars.
Also this week, actress Raven-Symone found herself in the midst of another controversy after she defended the racist remarks Univision host Rodner Figueroa made about Michelle Obama. (See HNOTD on sidebar) Figueroa was dismissed from his position on El Gordo y la Flaca following the comment and the ensuing fallout, but when the subject came up on The View, Symone was dismissive of the racial implications.....
The former Disney starlet is guest-starring on hit shows like Empire and black-ish, and she came under fire in 2014 after she announced that she prefers not to think of herself as an African American, but as simply an American.
“I don't want to be labeled gay, I want to be labeled a human who loves humans,” Symone told Oprah last fall. “I’m tired of being labeled. I’m an American. I'm not an African American. I’m an American.
“I don’t know where my roots go to. I don’t know how far back they go... I don’t know what country in Africa I’m from,” she continued. “But I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. That’s a colorless person. We’re all people. I have lots of things running through my veins. I have darker skin. I have a nice, interesting grade of hair. I can connect with Caucasian, I connect with Asian, I connect with black, I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture.”
The idea that black people’s reaction to racism—and not the racism itself—is what must be addressed is an effective distraction that decenters the struggle of black people. It centers the comfort of white people, absolving white supremacy and indicting black rage as “the problem.”
Celebrities like Common and Raven-Symone are but ambassadors of the growing New Black culture that Pharrell became the unwitting poster child for in his now-infamous Oprah interview. “Upward mobility,” sayeth the New Black, “that is the promise of America and because I have achieved—you can, too.” They conveniently romanticize their climb to wherever they are in their lives and careers, telling themselves that they got there via personal drive and ambition that is unique to them. But structural obstacles kept most of their peers stagnant in socio-economic standing; these stars achieved in spite of racism—not because it doesn’t exist. So it is dangerous to put the onus on the oppressed people, as if you believe no one cared to climb the ladder until you came along. Poor public schools and overpriced housing mean that things aren’t really designed for you and your peers to “make it out.” You can’t be “exceptional” without being an exception.
The New Black perspective sounds like an old black pathology. Exceptionalism and respectability have never saved us from the oppressive weight of racism. We’ve always achieved greatness in a country that doesn’t see value in blackness beyond a commodity; maintained dignity in a land that has consistently dehumanized and stigmatized who we are. White supremacy often insists that black people prove themselves exceptional just to share a table with white mediocrity. It is not for black people to extend a hand; it is for the privileged and the powerful to remove their boot from the community’s collective neck. These celebrities seem to be disconnected from the pulse and spirit of many of their peers, but their voices resonate far and wide in pop culture. And more black celebrities should take the struggles of the community at least seriously enough to not offer condescension, rhetoric, and smug dismissals when confronted with the realities of race and racism. Those with the biggest pulpits can’t continue to preach the gospel of positivity, condescension, and denial. It was deflecting when Bill Cosby gave his infamous “Pound Cake speech” in 2004 and it’s deflecting now. It’s an old routine.
When you think about it, there isn’t much “new” about New Blacks at all." [Source]
Actually, Stereo, there is. Their houses are much nicer now.
It's blaming the victim. He raped her because she wore a short dress. The cop killed him because he had a bad attitude.
ReplyDeletePharrell and others see life completely different from the reality of the people.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think we have extended our hands to the wm for a long long time and it only made us look self-deprecating, which it has been.
However, we have a lot of people in our race who will sell his or her black fellows down the river for a buck. That is nothing new.
Give the right Negroes the right money and they sell their souls to the white devil....I'm not talking about a few, I'm talking about the majority.
It's difficult to find a trustworthy Black who remains committed to freeing Blacks. Today, there just are very many.
Actually, I can't recall a time when it wasn't the case. Our race is not a "together" race and never will be.
"The New Black" is just another label connoting self-hatred. It is one that supports everything Charles Barkley and others of his ilk has said.
Let's face it. Our only hope today is Howard Schultz.
"the country struggled through a summer that saw a string of high-profile cases involving police killing innocent black citizens."
ReplyDeleteWhat? I can't recall any cases where police killed an innocent black person last summer.
Michael Brown was guilty of attacking a police officer with the intent to kill.
Eric Garner was guilt of resisting arrest which led to him having a heart attack.
Nope, just a typical level of negroes behaving badly.
Common sounds like a real Field Negro, someone who stands on his own and isn't afraid to speak his mind.
ReplyDeleteJust the kind of person the Fake Field Negro wants to drag back to the House.
Dindu Nuffin, you need to go to Starbucks for a discussion on race because you know nuflin.
ReplyDeleteA drunk college kid gets roughed up by police, and Field, along with the Governor of Virginia, is all over it. They are just lovers of Justice, I guess. Especially Racial Justice.
ReplyDeleteBut right here in Philly, a 51 year old white man out walking his dog was shot and killed by three young black males out robbin', even though he cooperated and begged for his life, and Field is silent:
It was just before 8:30 p.m. last Thursday when 51-year-old James Stuhlman was walking his dog on the 6400 block of Woodcrest Avenue.
That's when police say he was approached by three juveniles attempting a robbery.
Police say Stuhlman pleaded for his life, saying, "Please don't shoot me. Please don't shoot me." But he was still shot once in the chest.
The suspects ran off, without taking any of Stuhlman's belongings.
"Which makes this even more senseless, and even more troubling," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark, "that nothing was taken at all and he lost his life."
The boys allegedly told police that they were out playing basketball, and afterwards they came up with the idea that they wanted to commit a robbery.
As they walked down the street, they initially targeted another man, police said.
However, they then saw Stuhlman, who was older than the first man, and who was walking a dog who they considered less intimidating.
So they killed him. And then just ran away.
It's not often you will you see a story where three young white men execute a black guy for no reason. It just doesn't happen in 21st century America. If it ever did, the coverage would dwarf the media campaign mounted for Trayvon or Mike Brown. Or even for Martese Johnson's right to party.
But because it was just a white guy who got killed by some of Obama's sons, something that happens every day, the national media can't be bothered to report it.
#NotAllLivesMatter

This story makes me sick and ashamed to be Black. It's asshole Negroes like these three evil fools that make neighborhoods and cities dangerous and unsafe.
Hell, a man can't even walk his dog without some Negroes shooting him. Where do these heartless black evil fucks come from?
And you are right. Field would never say anything about it.
Hey Field, I have noticed that you have been silent about Israel and Netanyahu treating Obama like he is nobody.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Oh wait...you are pro-Israel so I guess Netanyahu did what he had to do to Obama, right?
Well, he did a good job. Nobody on planet earth respects Obama after that episode. Congratulations! your man Netanyahu won again.
If a Slavic immigrant (whose ancestors were enslaved by Arabs) and a Nigerian immigrant(whose ancestors captured and sold slaves to whites and Arabs) arrive in America as immigrants, the Slavic-American immigrant has to foot the bill for affirmative action for the Nigerian-American immigrant.

ReplyDeleteHow much sympathy from whites do you need to satisfy your thirst?
To say that whites don't acknowledge what "went on was fucked up" is complete and utter bullshit.
To say whites don't sympathize with the plight of blacks is a out and out lie.
No amount of reasoning or logic can save you ( or most blahs) from drowning in your own pool of victimization. No amount of love and understanding can warm your racist heart or change your bigoted way of thinking.

ReplyDelete"We do need some healing but we need to recognize what was done to blah people and admit it was fucked up."
Healing starts with the admission that a deep hurt was done to another human being. Otherwise, healing cannot take place.
For instance, if you come from a family where you have been sexually molested over and over again for years, you don't forget. You remember you want to confront the perpetrator who violated you physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Anyone, esp white women who were sexually molested during childhood, remember what was done to them--and are in therapy because of it. They are deeply 'ashamed' of themselves because of what was done to them. They are also very angry and distrusting of the family offender. To let go of the past, the victim and the offender 'both' must come together--the offender must own up to his/her human violations that stripped a human soul of her dignity.
If this doesn't take place, the victim still has to carry the shame of the perpetrator. The victim has no outlet to the 'source'. In other words the 'shame' of sexual abuse done to the vulnerable must be given back to the one who did violence to the self-respect and dignity of the victim.
Sometimes some violators will admit their wrongs. Others won't because they can't stand the pain and shame of what they did. It's those folks who must continue to find fault with the vulnerable victims to justify what they did....
"Blaming the victim" is a way out of not acknowledging the Truth...that's the 'elephant' in the living room, which is the painful truth of the unspoken secret of the past that so many-Black and White- can't bring themselves to admit. The Whites who can't are called racists, and Blacks who can't are called uncle toms. So the 'elephant' remains and grows as it continues to feed on the shame of the past that no one wants to face.
PX, "There is NEVER an admission from a white person that what went on was fucked up, it's always some excuse and then "let's move on". A white person can see the horrific images of a blah person burned alive and show absolutely no emotion whatsoever. We have been so dehumanized that there is no sympathy for anything that happens to us but yet they come here and want us to recognize and sympathize with them when the slightest thing happens to one of them."
Well said. Just remember, being human is a messy ordeal. Being human is to be unable to do the right thing. Humans are weak, and fragile and cannot live the life they wish they could. Every last one of us die wishing they could make things right but are too weak and fearful to do it. Courage is not one of our strong points. Cowardice is one of the hallmarks of being human.

ReplyDeletePriceless way to put it. But I think racist hearts and bigoted ways can be changed. I always identified as not being racist until someone explained reality in a nonjudgmental way that I could understand. I hate the "r" word. It's difficult to admit I am racist. I aim not to be, but I was born into racist thinking. My parents never deliberately taught me to be racist, it's what I observed as "normal". Reading informative blogs like this keep the conversation going.

24/7, 365 days a year, for the last 50 years, in every classroom, on every TV show, every movie, every advertisement, white people are forced to recognize the moral debt they owe to black people. Not because of anything they may have done personally, or even something their ancestor might of done, but merely by virtue of their being born with white skin.
We have a entire month of extra lecturing each February, a national holiday and a giant statue of the Black Martyr at the center of the nation's hallowed ground, and a significant portion of a colossal federal government dedicated toward advancing the interests of blacks at the expense of whites.
We have discarded the fundamental precept of equality before the law so that blacks get preference in school admissions and job applications/promotions.
If you make a statement with insufficient reverence toward the special status of blacks, you will lose your job.
Even though interracial crime runs more than ten to one black on white, only white on black violence matters to the media.
Everywhere, always, our culture is obsessed with race, but only from the perspective of white guilt and the maintenance of a constant level of outrage to ensure white males are punished in perpetuity.
And still, and still people like PilotX says it's not enough. Not only does he say it's not enough, he denies any of it exists, at all. In his world, NEVER has a white person admitted slavery was wrong.
And we live in his world, the good old BRA.

I remember the days that Obama would go on and on about how he promised the most transparent administration in history.

Another Obama lie.
Administration sets record for withholding government files
The Obama administration set a record again for censoring government files or outright denying access to them last year under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, according to a new analysis of federal data by The Associated Press.

There must be a good reason Obama promised transparency and then flip-flopped.
What does Obama need to keep hidden?
Republicans are criminals but you wouldn't know that from Bill. No mention of this huh Bill? Why are you such a hypocrite? Do crimes by republicans mean nothing to you because a blah man is in the White House? Are you that racist?

nor am i anti Jew. some of the nicest people i have ever encountered, have in fact, been jews. just as i don't hold individuals whites, that know they are gentile. responsible for their historical role in the slave trade.
nor do i hold individual jews, who are gentile and don’t know nor accept it, responsible for the fact they cornered the market and grew quite wealthy from the slave trade. then somewhere in there, they took on the identity of the folk enslaved. in all Truth, that is wicked genius.
Messiah called it though. this might be why some jews hate Him/Black people so. However there are some that are for Messiah and do not hate Blacks, so we will see how this all shakes out in the end...

Ans. I mentioned 'wm' to stress 'who' is calling out this sexual abuse in their families and the psychological effect it has had on wm. Much of this has been discovered in therapy. Of course, that is only 'one' way. White female celebrities have exposed it on national TV.
Very few bw have said much, if any. This comes from a culture of family secrets: bw or bm don't talk about what Dad, or Uncle LeRoy did to them. It's not considered such a big deal in black families but sexual molestation runs rampart in black families...
We just don't talk about it. "We are as sick as our secrets."
I contend that we are so shame-based that we hide and remain silent about a lot of things which keep us imprisoned. WE ARE OUR WORST ENEMIES AND OUR BIGGEST PRISONERS.
I know, I know. I am breaking a cardinal rule in our culture: Never tell the truth about ourselves. Only tell the truth about what the wm has done to us...I can't buy into that anymore. I have been hurt the 'most' too many times by my own people because throughout my life.
I hope I have cleared things up a little. I appreciate you asking for clarification. You make me think and write a little better although I will never be as skillful with writing as you are.:)
If this is still not clear, please let me know.

I really hope someone living in the Caribbean will speak up about the 'racism' that permeates the Latin race because I know you won't.
Yeah, because thinking positive, taking responsibility, and refusing to blame another entire people for your own struggles is HNB, whereas blaming whitey and racism for everything is FNB.
ReplyDeleteOr do I have that backwards? I always forget which one blacks are supposed to strive for.
What amazes me is that if one were to look around at places throughout America that are majority black, one would find that the closest Republican--or in some cases white person in general--left the area before Toto decided to Hold the Line. All black, all Democrats, and still all fucking FUBAR in inner cities and suchlike.
Sure, slavery and oppression and even the backhanded ways in which government and institutions went about skirting equality laws to oppress blacks were fucking brutal. And no doubt that many of those ripples are still having an effect today.
But at some point--and it's up to everyone individually to decide when--positive thinking and faith in one's own abilities must take precedence over finger-pointing.

ReplyDeleteBTW, Rosie named the Caribbean Islands is where a lot of Latin racists live. In fact, she mentioned most on those lovely Islands don't want to even admit they have African blood in them.

Ahahahaaa! Besides Field who is the blog owner, the resident Caribbean commenter I guess would be moi?:)
Hahaha, Rosie Perez? Has she ever even BEEN to PR? NOT! I never heard about it if she did! :)
There's a bunch of people out there that claim they know ALL about PR! Never even set foot on the island much less actually lived here!
Hahaha! That's even funny actually! Rosie Perez is wrong on that one, maybe she feels that way, and maybe she denies that she herself is of African descent, but the majority of people here are quite proud of that fact.
Racism unfortunately exists everywhere there are racist whites. PR is no exception.
"If not for this enforced immigration, you, and your "progeny" would be non-existent."
ReplyDeleteneither would you.

I agree with Josh. We should all just take Pharrell's advice and just be happy. The cops pull you over for BWB? Just whistle a happy tune. Don't get a job because of your skin color? Skip to the next interview and be happy for the exercise. I feel better already. First Josh cures me of stealing car radios and having bastard children and now he made me an optimistic and happy person. Thanks Josh, you should be President of the world!
Anon@6:41, u started smoking that blunt too soon.
ReplyDeleteToo soon? It's friday man.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You guys are funny! So smoke one for me to cos I can't smoke..
ReplyDeletewaaaah! But I'll have a brownie though... ;D
Why are white people so boring and annoying?
ReplyDeleteCome on now. Really, Pilot X? You think all, or even most, present-day white people think slavery is fine or lynchings are no big deal? You're talking about a tiny percentage of white people who hold those extremely backward views.
ReplyDeleteBut what you won't find among white people is any large degree of acceptance of certain black people's view that white people are somehow a uniquely evil ethnic group because they did these things. The history of enslaving and conquering isn't "white people's history." It is the history of all human beings for virtually all of recorded history.
Slavery was a global norm until the 19th century, and conquest and land acquisition was a global norm until the mid-20th century. White people weren't in any way unique in pursuing these goals -- just more successful in achieving them over a relatively recent period of time.
So if you're looking for the average white person to inappropriately apply modern ethical norms to past historic behavior, or to apologize for actions committed by other (now mostly dead) people from their ethnic group, then, on that count, I'd say ... don't hold your breath waiting. It ain't gonna happen.
Feel free to stay mad, I guess.
Slavery really wasn't all that bad. It was pretty much like living on welfare today, only you had to pick cotton for a couple of weeks a year. The country air was nice, and you got to lie around and eat watermelons most of the time, and play the banjo and dance when you felt like it. If you were a good negro and didn't go around killing and raping too much, the Massa would even give you some chickens to fry once in a while.
ReplyDeleteDon't knock it til you tried it.
"Feel free to stay mad, I guess."
ReplyDeleteNot mad just observant. I'm doing fine thanks. Actually better than 95% of whites so there is that.
PilotX- I recognize what was done to people and admit it was fucked up. Couldn't have been more fucked up. I also understand the importance of preference in school admissions, job applications, and promotions. Without it catch up is too slow. And it's not enough, but a fair place to start.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous@8:48 pm. - He doesn't want an apology. The average white person should acknowledge of the horrific acts that took place, acknowledge what it' has done to families over generations, and acknowledge how that past is directly linked to the fucked up inequality and oppression today. Empathize.
@Virginia
ReplyDeleteOh, okay, so not an apology -- just lots of injustice against white people. That's much better!
I can empathize with a black person who is going through hardship. But I can also empathize with a white person who is going through hardship.
If a middle-class or wealthy black person is given a job or a school admission over a better-qualified, but poorer, white person, what part of that sounds fair to you? There is no way to conquer injustice by perpetrating more injustice. There is no way to create equality by mandating "counter inequality".
And that's before you get into the politically corrosive nature of affirmative action and similar identity politics demands that have helped to turn all of our politics into an endlessly nasty, unproductive fistfight.
Advocating for more of the same only pits every racial group against each other and impedes agreement on fairer economic policy that could reduce poverty for all. Maybe if the left as a whole hadn't chosen to go down this foolish route, we wouldn't have the economic dysfunction we have in this country today.
Does IQ, self control, and future time orientation have anything to do with it?
ReplyDeleteDoes enabling dysfunction create more or less of it?
If 50 years is not long enough, will 100 be? 200?
Will whites in the future have a legitimate claim for redress from the government because of the government-sanctioned discrimination against their ancestors today?
"I agree with Josh. We should all just take Pharrell's advice and just be happy. The cops pull you over for BWB? Just whistle a happy tune. Don't get a job because of your skin color?"
ReplyDeleteBut, of course, these are things you're only familiar with through airborne osmosis of sharing a skin color. I'm guessing that you didn't steal car stereos and that you don't have bastard kids. You probably finished school and worked hard. Yet, for some reason, when you want to send a message to other black people, it's nothing whatever to do with copying the working formula that was implemented by blacks like Field or Pilot -- it's just snark for anyone who suggests such, and a tearing down of America as a racist place.
I'm sure Doc, in her incessant bragging, didn't drop out of school, have bastard kids, and blame society for not accepting her. I'm guessing here that she studied hard, worked to make something of herself, and kept a positive attitude about her life trajectory.
Fuck forbid this is how one suggest other black people act! That shit be HNB.
I understand, though: One must stay FNB. (If that's the "good" one.)
My background has nothing to do with this. You're missing the big picture. You're trying to deny reality because you and your loved ones benefit from this. Every post here is a result of institutional racism. Poor whites struggle, no different than blacks? You're kidding yourself. That's ignorant. I hear a lot about personal responsibility, and I get that, but that is not the big issue. That alone won't level the playing field in your lifetime. We (white folk) have a person responsibility to do something. Listening is a good place to start. Josh, I'm a lurker here, but read your many comments. You make some good points on many topics. But you are dead wrong on this one.
ReplyDelete"If a middle-class or wealthy black person is given a job or a school admission over a better-qualified, but poorer, white person, what part of that sounds fair to you?"
ReplyDeleteThis happens about as often as...oh I don't know. A blue moon, maybe?
There is a pervasive belief in stereotypes but we shouldn't be surprised because we've all been brainwashed for centuries to believe them.
ReplyDelete"Poor whites struggle, no different than blacks?"
ReplyDeletePoor whites have it harder. Not only do they not get preferential admission to college, colleges don't want them.
Even the private sector gets involved. The Bill Gates Foundation offers scholarships to all needy students except whites; it specifically excludes whites.
Poor whites pay for the sins of rich whites. Poor blacks pay for nothing.
PilotX:Freeing slaves from the Republican plantation since the 70's said...There is a pervasive belief in stereotypes but we shouldn't be surprised because we've all been brainwashed for centuries to believe them.
ReplyDelete>>>>>>>>>>>
Right!! Stereotypes about Blacks are what keep poor Whites voting Rethug and by definition, against their own best interests.
NEW BLACKS = NEO COONS!
ReplyDeleteF U ALL!!!
"against their own best interests."
ReplyDeleteWhat are the best interest of whites, dingaling?
I know that a "white thing" doesn't exist like a "black thing" exists. We all now at this point, reading from Field's intellectual juggernauts on the topic, that a white person can never, ever, in a billion years, understand any so-called "black thing," but every black person on the planet can inherently understand every single "white thing" there is.
So, black person, please tell white people what their best interests are.
To set up their entire communities to be almost entirely Democrat for three decades, only to see drug use increase, murder rates increase, OOW births increase, and poverty increase?
Maybe white folks aren't interested in that much despair. True, Republicans and their dumb, greedy asses aren't fucking helping either. But they're not circling the drain quite like Democrat-controlled places out yonder. They might be in the gravitational pull of the black hole (oops, dat's wacist!), but not on the event horizon just yet.
What may be in everyone's best interest--I don't pretend to know everyone's interests--is to ditch this two-party system and use the scientific standard of objectivity to live their lives and guide their morals. This religious indoctrination and political sophistry leads to nothing but Republicans blaming Democrats, Democrats blaming Republicans, and blacks and whites seeing things strictly through different colored (oops, dat's wacist!) lenses.
"There is a pervasive belief in stereotypes..."
ReplyDeleteHave you ever considered this to be due to the makeup of a stereotype?
You know, like all those Italian bad drivers, all those pacifist Irish, and all those Cubans who can't dance?
A stereotype, like a great joke, only takes hold when there's truth in it. That isn't to say a stereotype is always true, or true for a majority of anyone, but I defy anyone here to pull a stereotype out of your ass that doesn't apply and see if it sticks.
It won't.
"What are the best interest of whites, dingaling?"
ReplyDeleteWhite people aren't allowed to have interests, that would be racist.
"White people aren't allowed to have interests, that would be racist."
ReplyDeleteExactly. Whites aren't a "race," don't have any "culture," and aren't allowed to have issues or grievances. Those things are for crybaby blacks -- the most ironic part being, of course, that blacks who graduated and worked hard and didn't get fucking arrested outright refuse to preach a work ethic while instead bitching about racism, as if they don't want other blacks to become their successful competition.
He took the mark of the beast. Plain and simple.
